00:05 #S079 - “Just Live It” (Part 1)
00:20 I would invite you to go with me 00:21 and your Bibles to the Book of Saint Luke. 00:25 Chapter six, St Luke's Chapter six. 00:28 And we're going to begin together at verse number 37. 00:33 And as we spend a little time talking about our theme, 00:38 our theme is becoming the church that Christ intended. 00:42 I'm going 00:43 to spend a little time talking about one of the norms. 00:46 One of the things that consistently happen in church 00:50 that keep us from becoming the church that Christ intended. 00:53 Anybody ever been to a church 00:54 where they had a judgment so critical spirit's 00:58 right. 01:00 And I need you to know that does not come from Jesus Christ. 01:03 It comes from a different spirit. 01:05 And we want to address it from the Word of God today. 01:08 Luke Chapter six and verse 37. 01:11 When you get there, just say, Pastor, I'm there. 01:14 Luke Chapter six in verse 37, 01:18 Jesus Teaching the Beatitudes gives these words. 01:22 I want to invite those who are coming in. 01:24 If you come on in quickly or those who are stepping out, 01:27 we want to be settled as we go to the word today. 01:30 Luke Chapter six, 01:33 verse 37 When you find it, just say amen. 01:36 The Bible. 01:36 Jesus teaching. 01:37 Look at what Jesus taught 01:38 and I want you to pay attention to this. 01:41 And it's going to feel in moments 01:43 like I'm taking the scenic route. 01:45 But there are some things 01:45 that God needs us to understand today. 01:49 Luke six In verse 37, Jesus says, 01:52 Judge, what? 01:55 Judge not. 01:56 And you shall not be judged, 01:59 condemn not and you shall not be condemned. 02:04 Forgive and you will be forgiven, 02:08 give and it will be given to you. 02:11 Good measure. 02:12 Pressed down, shaken together and running over 02:17 will be put into your bosom for with the same measure 02:19 that you use, it will be measured back to you. 02:24 And he spoke a parable to them Can the blind lead the blind? 02:29 Will they both not fall into the ditch? 02:32 A disciple is not above his teacher, 02:35 but everyone who is perfectly trained 02:36 will be like his teacher. 02:39 And then this is the question. 02:41 Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye 02:45 and do not perceive the plank in your own eye? 02:49 Or how can you say to your brother, brother, 02:52 let me remove the suspect that is in your eye when you 02:56 yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye. 03:01 Hypocrites. 03:03 First, remove the plank from your eye. 03:07 Then you will see clearly to rise. 03:10 To remove the speck that is in your brother's eye today. 03:17 Saints for a little while, with God's help, 03:19 I just wanted to talk to you under the subject. 03:21 Just live it. 03:24 Just live it. 03:25 And I want to subtitled this sermon 03:27 sweep around your own front door 03:31 before you try to sweep around mine. 03:34 Turn to your neighbor real quick. 03:35 Let them know. Don't say it. 03:38 Just live it, too. 03:40 Until neighbors said Don't declare it. 03:42 Just live it. 03:44 Let's pray together. 03:45 Father, I need desperately your spirit. 03:51 In this hour, 03:54 I am praying that you would give 03:56 a fresh supply of strength to be able to teach the word. 04:00 But, Lord, I am praying an even greater anointing for the body 04:04 to be able to receive the word and to put it into practice. 04:10 And so, Father, I am praying that 04:12 of all the places of worship that you are visiting 04:16 while on others you are calling. 04:19 Please don't pass us by. 04:22 So, Lord, would you hide me in the shadows of the cross that 04:25 Jesus alone might be seen, that Christ alone might be heard? 04:30 And at the end of our time together, 04:31 let Jesus alone be praised. 04:34 Bless us to this. 04:34 And we ask 04:35 in the mighty name of Christ our Lord, 04:38 that believes out together. 04:39 Amen and amen. 04:43 You may be seated in the House of the Lord again, 04:45 talking under the subject. 04:47 Just. Just live it. 04:50 Just live it, you know? 04:56 CHURCH A couple of weeks back, I was on a cruise overseas. 05:02 And because of the jetlag, 05:04 I was up each night later than I normally am. 05:08 And because I was up, I decided to go to the gym 05:11 on the ship in order to blow off a little stress. 05:15 And so while I was there, I was working out 05:17 in my own corner at a pace that was comfortable for me. 05:22 But after a little while of working out, 05:25 there was this very young guy that came in 05:27 with a very statuesque build. 05:31 In fact, church, this brother was so rich 05:33 that you could see the abs 05:35 through the shirt that he was wearing. 05:38 And of course, it would happen that he would come to work out 05:42 in the mirror right next to where I was working out. 05:46 And it's crazy because he was very polite. 05:49 He was very considerate of the space. 05:52 In fact, he worked out 05:53 quietly with his headphones on the entire time. 05:58 Now, to be clear, the energy in the gym was very casual. 06:02 But once he came 06:03 in, he worked out with such an energy 06:07 that the mood of the entire room began to shift. 06:11 And because I noticed that this brother had great 06:16 workout results, I began to imitate some of his moves. 06:20 And so I begin to curl the same way. 06:23 I saw him curl then, and I begin to go deeper in the dips, 06:27 the way I saw him do. 06:29 And I begin to try some stretches that I had no business 06:33 trying to attempt. 06:34 And it's funny because this brother didn't 06:37 come in telling people what they needed to do. 06:41 He didn't come in within instructor's mentality. 06:45 I was just so impressed with his resolve 06:48 that I tried to imitate his movements. 06:51 And in this church there is a tremendous spiritual lesson 06:56 because most of us believe that we raise 06:59 the standard of the church by what we say. 07:04 But the truth is that we raise the standard by how we live. 07:10 In other words, what happened in the gym is true in life, 07:15 because when people admire your spiritual results, 07:19 they'll begin to imitate your spiritual moves. 07:22 And the reason 07:24 some of our young people don't covet our spiritual moves is 07:27 that they're not that impressed with our spiritual results. 07:32 And the funny thing is that this young brother didn't come in 07:37 and condemn anybody or say what they needed to be doing. 07:41 His results were simply a rebuke 07:43 to all the dead bodies and love handles in the room. 07:48 And this is the principle for the church. 07:51 How many of us know that you don't have to walk around 07:54 telling people what they are doing wrong? 07:58 In fact, the greatest rebuke to wrong 08:01 is and authentically live the Christian life. 08:05 In other words, you don't have to tell people 08:09 not to gossip or be messy when they notice 08:11 that you don't partake in slinging mud. 08:15 It adds conviction to the conversation. 08:18 In other words, 08:19 you don't have to tell folk not to smoke or drink, 08:23 but when they notice that you don't share it, 08:26 it becomes a buzzkill for everybody in the room. 08:29 You don't have to tell folks that they need to get up and 08:32 go to church. 08:33 But when you get up and go on your own, 08:37 even if your roommate or spouse doesn't say it, 08:40 it informs them about the things that they need to be doing. 08:44 And the word to somebody today is that 08:46 God doesn't need a whole lot of preachers. 08:51 What the church needs is a lot of doers. 08:54 God doesn't need you to say God 08:56 just needs somebody that's going to live it. 09:00 Because how many of us know that demonstration 09:03 is more powerful than instruction? 09:06 Are you hearing the word today? Saints. 09:08 And so go back with me, if you don't mind, to chapter 09:11 six and verse 37. 09:13 We're going to unpack some things in the word today. 09:16 Luke six in verse 37, when you get there, 09:17 let me hear you say, man, Jesus speaking. 09:20 He says, Judge not and you shall not be what 09:25 condemn not and you shall not be what the Bible says. 09:29 Forgive him and you will be what? 09:32 All right, now, saints. 09:34 I'm not going to be 09:35 before you long, but there are four brief principles 09:39 that I want to put before your consideration today. 09:43 You see, there is a principle that is oftentimes 09:46 omitted from Christian consideration. 09:50 You see, the first thing this text teaches us 09:53 is that whatever you want in abundance, 09:56 you've got to be willing to give in abundance. 09:58 Let me say it again that whatever you want in abundance, 10:03 you've got to be willing to give in abundance. 10:06 Now, notice, friends, what Jesus is interested 10:09 do sing to us in the Spirit is the principle of reciprocity. 10:16 In fact, what Jesus shows is that reciprocity 10:20 is actually a part of the sanctification formula, 10:24 because he says that if you judge not, 10:27 then you will not be judged. 10:30 He says if you condemn not, then you will not be condemned. 10:34 But he says, if you forgive, 10:36 then forgiveness is going to be applied to you. 10:40 Now, the reason this does not compute to some 10:43 is that most of us thought 10:45 that our salvation operated in a silo 10:50 where there was no correlation between the way I treat others 10:55 and the way I will ultimately be treated by God. 10:58 But if I am reading the Scriptures correctly, 11:02 there are certain virtues that I forfeit when I refuse 11:06 to assign those characteristics to others and see Jesus. 11:11 What He does is He tethers the way you treat others 11:16 to how you're ultimately going to be treated by God. 11:21 And he is crazy because some are not receiving this. 11:25 But Jesus says that the same exact thing judgmental way 11:30 you treat others is the same way that God is going to look upon 11:34 your raggedy and wretched life when you do wrong. 11:38 Jesus is the same condemning Spirit that you apply to others. 11:44 He says, I'm going to aim that same spirit at you. 11:46 When Judgment Day shows up. 11:49 Jesus says that if you refuse to forgive others, 11:54 then forgiveness is going to be withheld from you. 11:57 And there are some that are in their feelings 11:59 because you're saying, 12:00 why would Christ treat me the same way that I am 12:03 treating others? 12:04 I'm so glad you asked that question today. 12:08 The first reason Jesus does this is because we are 12:11 ambassadors of Jesus, somebody without ambassadors. 12:16 In other words, we are his representatives 12:18 in a fallen world. 12:19 And the truth is that unbelievers, before 12:23 they open up a Bible or come to a church 12:27 the way they know what Christ is like 12:30 is through their interactions with us. 12:33 And the truth is that when we act contrary to Jesus, 12:38 we actually slander his character 12:41 and we nullify the power of the Gospel. 12:45 But the second reason that Jesus applies recipes mostly is 12:49 because many times reciprocity shows up in your conscience. 12:54 Stay with me. 12:55 We're going somewhere today, Church. 12:56 You see, Jesus says if you don't condemn, guess what? 13:00 You won't be condemned. 13:01 I wish there was a church here today. 13:04 He says that if you don't judge, you will not be judge. 13:09 And he says that if you forgive abundantly, 13:12 you will be forgiven abundantly. 13:15 And what Jesus is doing, 13:17 he is not just articulating a requirement. 13:22 What Jesus is doing is describing a result, 13:27 because reciprocity doesn't just show up in the heavenly. 13:31 It shows up in your conscious. 13:33 You hear what I'm saying? 13:34 In fact, let me say it this way. 13:36 Do you realize that the person that walks around 13:40 feeling most condemned is not the worst sinner, 13:46 but the person that feels most condemned is the person 13:49 that does the most condemning. 13:50 You're not here with me yet. 13:52 The person that feels the most judge is not the one 13:56 that does the most wrong, 13:58 but it is the one that does the most amount of judging. 14:02 In fact, the one that struggles to feel like they are forgiven 14:07 is the one that is reluctant to offer 14:09 forgiveness to those that has done them wrong. 14:13 And the way reciprocity shows up is in any irritated conscience 14:19 I hear me today say, in fact, 14:21 have you ever noticed this real talk 14:23 that that sometimes the person that's always accused 14:28 their spouse, our partner of cheating, are doing dirt. 14:31 The one that's always accusing of dirt 14:35 is usually the one practicing the dirt. 14:38 Have you ever noticed 14:39 that the ones that always feel like other people 14:42 are talking about them are the ones that go around 14:47 and have something to say about everybody that they encounter? 14:52 Have you noticed that 14:53 the one that's always accusing people are lying 14:57 are the ones that always lie like a rug 15:00 and they don't know the truth from a lie. 15:03 And there are some 15:04 who are sitting here saying, no, that's not me, Pastor. 15:07 I'm just keeping it real. 15:09 No, you're not keeping it real. 15:11 You're just keeping it ratchet. 15:13 Because Titus 115 says Total pure. 15:17 Oh, things are pure but defiled. 15:20 Nothing is pure 15:22 because the conscience and the heart are defiled. In 15:25 other words, when you do dirt, all you can do is see dirt. 15:31 Okay? 15:32 Like. 15:33 Like, I remember one day I have passed the mark. 15:36 A pair of plus one glasses I only wear at my house. 15:40 And I remember one day as my kids 15:42 were coming into my room, I put the glasses on my face 15:47 and I noticed just that my oldest son had a speck 15:49 of something on the right cheek of his face, 15:53 and I told him to wipe it, but it didn't come off. 15:56 And then, like a good parent, I took my finger 15:59 and tried to wipe it, but it wouldn't come off. 16:02 But then I turned to my daughter and she had the same 16:04 those fact at the same spot on her face. 16:08 And I tried to wipe it off. 16:09 And after a while they mad and pushing back my hands 16:12 and saying, Daddy, 16:13 the dirt is not on us, but the dirt is in your glasses. 16:17 You're not missing it. 16:19 In other words, when you've got dirt on you, 16:23 all you can 16:24 do is see dirt on everybody else. 16:28 And that's why you got to get the dirt out of your own eye 16:32 before you try to get the dirt out of somebody else's. 16:35 I, I hear me today and see friends of mine. 16:38 This is a very critical thing 16:40 for our consumption because here in our Texas lies 16:44 the reason that some of us feel 16:48 like we can't truly be forgiven by God. 16:53 Do you realize the reason? 16:54 Some of us feel like we can't be forgiven 16:59 is because we are reluctant to give forgiveness. 17:05 You see, when you forgive even those that have wounded you 17:08 the most, it literally becomes a salvific parable 17:13 in the life of the one who is offended of the offender. 17:17 But simultaneously, what it does, unbeknownst to us, 17:20 is it bolsters our faith that if I am able 17:24 to forgive them, then God's grace is sufficient 17:29 for the trespasses that I commit against Him 17:33 and see, as I stated earlier, whatever you want in abundance, 17:38 you've got to be willing to give in abundance. 17:42 And the reason that some of us see the grace of God as a myth 17:46 and limited in our lives is because we are limited 17:51 in the way that we extend grace to those that have offended us. 17:54 Are you hearing me today at church 17:56 so that there are some of us, 17:58 even though we are forgiving in the heavenly, 18:02 we still struggle with condemnation in the earthly, 18:07 because when we refuse to forgive others, subconsciously 18:11 it creates the notion that there is a limitation 18:16 about how much grace I am able to receive from God. 18:20 But when you are generous and giving forgiveness 18:24 to those that have harmed you, you actually break up 18:27 the spirit of condemnation 18:30 and you dilute the lives of the accuser 18:33 that says you've gone too far and you've done too much, 18:37 and that his grace is not sufficient. 18:40 I see the 18:42 problem with some of us is, as you're wrestling with this, 18:45 some of us are approaching this the wrong way. 18:48 You see some are going hear this and approach forgiveness 18:51 like a hostage that is forced to give 18:54 something that they don't really want to give. 18:58 But one of the things 18:59 I've come to understand is that I don't forgive 19:03 just because God commanded me to forgive. 19:07 But the reason I forgive is because I've been forgiven. 19:11 So much by the most high. 19:14 In other words, I need somebody to know 19:17 that I am thankful for the promise of First John one night, 19:21 which says If you confess your sense 19:24 he is faithful and just to forgive you 19:27 of your sins and cleanse you of all unrighteousness. 19:30 I am thankful for First John 19:31 to when he says I write these things that you do not saying. 19:36 But if any man says he has an advocate with the Father, 19:39 Jesus Christ, the righteous. 19:41 I am thankful 19:42 for the promise of Jeremiah, where God says that I even I am. 19:46 He will forgive your sins and for my own sake 19:49 I will remember them no more and see the reason. 19:53 Friends of mine I am okay. 19:56 Giving forgiveness 19:58 is because I have received so much forgiveness. 20:02 And do I have at least seven or eight folks that are thankful 20:05 that God has overlooked all your trespasses 20:09 and you are thankful that God is giving grace 20:13 upon grace and mercy on top of mercy. 20:17 And see, there is a reason I have to forgive 20:21 you. See, I'm too 20:23 sinful to be stingy with grace, 20:28 and because I need all of the long suffering 20:32 and because I need God to be gracious to me, 20:36 I have to be gracious to those that have offended me. 20:40 And I just need to know, do I have any sinners in this room 20:43 that need all the grace that God can give? 20:47 And because you need grace, you're 20:51 willing to offer that grace. 20:53 Oh, you are here me today. 20:54 Church 20:55 and see, I love what it says in Romans. 20:58 Chapter five. 20:59 Listen, this thing is so good to me. 21:01 It literally says that we're seeing a bounce. 21:08 We're seeing a bounce. 21:11 Grace does much more about oh, let me let me teach on this side 21:15 the Bible says we're seeing a bounce 21:18 Grace does much more about y'all missed it. 21:22 Notice it. 21:23 Don't say we're seeing a bounce Grace comes to the equal level. 21:29 The Bible says we're seeing a bounce. 21:32 Grace does much more are bound so that Grace doesn't 21:37 just meet the level of my saying, 21:40 but grace exceeds the level of my saying. 21:44 So what God does when He applies grace, 21:47 he doesn't just give you enough to be forgiven. 21:50 God gives extra, he gives access. 21:54 He gives a bundle. 21:55 He pours it in the overflow. 21:58 So why does God give extra grace 22:02 so that when somebody offends you, you already got some extra 22:09 so that you can forgive them? 22:13 Yeah, I hear me today. 22:14 Church 22:16 is crazy that the story is told. Yes. 22:18 Of a father who had two sons. 22:21 And so the two sons are he went with one to 22:25 to his athletic practice. 22:25 And while the one son was in the practice, 22:28 the other son said, Daddy, 22:30 I need some money to go and get something to eat. 22:33 And so what he does is he lets him get a snack 22:36 and some drinks and it costs about $5. 22:39 And so what the father does is he gives him a $10 bill 22:42 to get his $5 snack. 22:44 And when the boy comes back, 22:46 he says, Daddy, do you want your change? 22:49 And the daddy says, No, I don't want the change. 22:50 Just keep it. 22:51 But once the other brother finish the practice 22:55 and he saw the other brother eating, 22:56 he asked the brother, Will you buy me something too? 23:00 Now the other brother got mad and says you need to earn it 23:03 or get it from Dad. 23:05 Now the dad said something I'll never forget to the son. 23:09 He says that the reason I didn't ask for my change 23:13 was so that you can buy something for your brother 23:17 that was go already have a knee. 23:19 In other words, how can you withhold 23:22 what you did not earn 23:24 because your brother is not able to deserve it. 23:27 Y'all miss shouts out. 23:28 In other words, says, When you forgive, 23:32 all you're doing is spending God's tanks. 23:36 You didn't earn it. 23:37 You didn't deserve it. 23:39 It is just out of the abundance 23:43 of what God has already given you. 23:46 You hear me today? CHURCH 23:48 So the Bible says here in verse 23:50 number 38, Jesus says, give 23:54 and it will be given to you. 23:56 Good measure, press down, taken together 24:02 and running over will be put into your bosom 24:05 for with the same measure 24:06 that you use, it will be measured unto you. 24:11 Second thing this teaches us beloved, is that there are 24:13 some of us that have faith to receive, 24:17 but there are some of us that need faith to give 24:20 you almighty quiet today. 24:23 See, some of us only want faith to receive something. 24:27 But how many of us know that every now 24:28 and then you need faith to give it to God 24:32 and see? 24:33 One of the things 24:34 that we've learned is that you can't have in abundance 24:38 what you refuse to give in abundance and see what this is. 24:41 Beloved, it is a call 24:43 to radical generosity in the Church of the Living God. 24:48 You need to be radically generous into eight areas. 24:51 First, you need to be radically generous 24:54 and giving to the cause of God through your tithe and offering. 24:57 But better yet, 24:58 you need to be radically generous and also sharing 25:03 and being a blessing to your fellow man. 25:05 In fact, 25:06 I need somebody to know 25:07 that those that are the most abundant in their harvest 25:12 are those that are the most abundant in their sowing. 25:17 And see, the problem is that we have allowed 25:21 the religious of Jesus to be made selfish 25:25 because we approach 25:27 Jesus with a consumers mentality. 25:31 In fact, I mean, real talk. 25:32 Look at the way we talk in contemporary times. 25:37 Look at the vernacular 25:38 that has emerged when Jesus made it clear 25:42 that if you want to be great, you got to become a what 25:45 you got to become a servant, not a consumer. 25:48 I hear what I'm saying. 25:49 So that in the church, when when church gets good, 25:52 what we say is I receive that. 25:55 We don't say I give that. 25:57 Thank you for joining us for the Breath Of Life 26:02 Television Ministries Broadcast with Pastor Debleaire Snell. 26:05 We hope and pray 26:06 that you have been blessed by this powerful message. 26:10 Join us next week for part two of the message 26:13 “Just Live It” You don't want to miss. 26:16 Hello, I'm Pastor Debleaire 26:18 Snell, speaker director for The Breath of Life 26:21 Television Ministry. 26:22 This ministry was established to take the gospel of Jesus 26:26 Christ throughout North America and across the globe. 26:30 My goal is to make Jesus Christ 26:33 known through the preaching of the word. 26:36 I need you to know that we need your financial partnership 26:40 in order to make sure that the Gospel can go into every hill, 26:44 into every rural county, and into every inner city. 26:49 And we can only take the gospel as far as the gifts 26:52 that you lend to us. 26:54 We thank you for your financial partnership in the past, 26:58 and I'm asking that you continue to be a financial partner 27:02 with this ministry going forward. 27:04 Here are some ways you can give. 27:06 You can give online at our website 27:09 at www.breathoflife.TV. 27:12 You can send your gift by mail to Breath of Life. 27:15 P.O.
