00:02 It's time to go on a journey,
00:05 a search for treasure.
00:08 This is no ordinary treasure though,
00:11 this priceless discovery contains God's Word,
00:16 including secrets from the past and future
00:20 that will change your life.
00:23 Welcome to Bible Treasures.
00:31 Why it looks so old?
00:32 Oh, yeah.
00:34 Hi, guys. Hello, Sam.
00:35 Okay, I have a joke.
00:37 Why are bread jokes so funny?
00:40 I don't know, why?
00:42 Because they never get mould.
00:48 Hey, guys, how is it going? Come on in.
00:50 I'm so happy to see you guys, today.
00:52 So happy to see you, too.
00:53 Man, welcome to Bible Treasures.
00:55 My name is Rich Aguilera
00:57 and we got a super cool crew assembled today.
00:59 Let's let them introduce themselves.
01:01 Hi, I'm Steven and I'm a computer ops.
01:04 Cool.
01:05 And I'm Sam,
01:07 and I love historical documents.
01:08 Awesome.
01:09 Hi, I'm Nori and I'm the girl
01:11 who likes to handle all the interesting artifacts.
01:13 Very cool.
01:14 Well, you know what, guys?
01:16 Before we get started, I say we sharpen our brains.
01:18 Oh, good idea. Oh, yeah.
01:19 You guys up for a brainteaser?
01:20 Oh, yeah. All right.
01:22 Let's see how you guys can do on this one.
01:24 All right, listen closely.
01:26 Okay.
01:27 What gets wet when drying?
01:32 I don't know.
01:33 I can't think of it right now.
01:35 Oh, that's a good one.
01:36 Oh, is there a notification?
01:37 Oh, yeah.
01:39 There might be a message from headquarters coming in.
01:40 Let's see it. Oh, yeah.
01:44 I have family members and friends,
01:45 who are not Christian and,
01:47 well, I'm trying to find ways to tell them about God.
01:50 Because, well, I'm worried they won't be in heaven.
01:54 I would be so sad if my family and friends aren't in heaven.
01:57 Is there anything I can do?
01:59 Wow.
02:00 That's such a serious question.
02:02 It's sure though,
02:03 I can't imagine being super sad
02:05 and super happy at the same time.
02:07 It's true, when we think of heaven
02:08 we just think it will be just all happy.
02:11 Joyful, yeah.
02:12 How we do respond?
02:14 Well, you know what, first things first,
02:16 why don't we write this in our journal, her question.
02:19 Right.
02:21 Will I really be happy in heaven?
02:25 That's a good question.
02:27 Well, how do we answer that though?
02:29 You know what? Actually I have an idea.
02:30 What is it?
02:31 We need an artifact. Oh.
02:33 Can you look up, I think it's 77D.
02:35 70... D, okay. It's gonna help us a lot.
02:37 I love bringing my little artifacts around,
02:39 I know it's not part of this dig
02:40 but these little things
02:41 kinda help us answer question sometimes.
02:43 Important questions. Here we go.
02:44 Awesome, thank you so much.
02:46 You're welcome.
02:47 I got something pretty cool in here.
02:48 Oh.
02:50 I have a piece of the Berlin Wall.
02:51 Oh! The Berlin wall?
02:53 Where's that at? The Berlin Wall.
02:54 Actually, Sam, why don't you tell us
02:56 where the Berlin Wall is on the map,
02:58 it's in the country called Germany.
02:59 Oh, yeah. Oh, Germany.
03:00 It's... Germany is right here.
03:02 That's it, that's where it is.
03:03 Germany and the Berlin Wall,
03:05 lot of co-history there but you know what?
03:07 Steven, why don't we look up a location brief,
03:10 and that will help us learn a little bit more.
03:11 Yeah. That's a great idea.
03:15 Looks like that's it.
03:16 Oh, yeah that one.
03:18 Location brief, Berlin.
03:21 Berlin is the capital and largest city in Germany.
03:25 A modern city with amazing parks, forests,
03:30 gardens, lakes and canals.
03:33 It's also a home to a world famous zoo,
03:37 and museums, and universities.
03:40 Berlin today
03:42 is an amazing city and home
03:44 to almost 4 million people,
03:47 making it the second largest city in Europe
03:51 after London.
03:52 Historians calculate that the earliest settlements
03:56 are from the late 12th century,
03:59 and soon after that it became a prominent city
04:03 along two important trade groups.
04:07 Unfortunately,
04:09 Berlin has had a very complicated history,
04:12 especially in the last 100 years.
04:16 During World War II
04:18 large parts of the city were destroyed.
04:22 And after the war,
04:23 the city was divided into four sections
04:26 by the victors.
04:28 It was their job to manage what was left of Berlin.
04:33 By 1961, more problems arose
04:37 when Germany and Berlin were divided into two countries
04:42 and two cities, East Germany and West Germany,
04:46 and East Berlin and West Berlin.
04:49 Things got so bad
04:51 that East Berlin built a wall around West Berlin
04:56 to separate themselves from the west side of the city.
05:00 A long 96 miles wall was built
05:05 and became known as the Berlin Wall.
05:09 Sadly, the wall separated family and friends for years,
05:15 until finally in 1989 the wall opened up again
05:20 and East and West Germany
05:23 became one country again.
05:27 This concludes this location brief.
05:32 Wow. Cool.
05:33 Man. That's cool.
05:35 There's a lot of cool things about Berlin
05:37 and its history is very complex.
05:39 How?
05:41 Well, it turn out that when we look back at history,
05:43 Berlin for a period of time was actually divided in two.
05:46 Wow. Two?
05:48 And you know what they did?
05:49 They built a wall right down in the middle.
05:50 Really? Why would they do that?
05:52 Well, they were separating it,
05:53 because they had two completely different ideals
05:55 and philosophies
05:56 of how they should run their country.
05:57 Okay.
05:59 But it was sad because it was like
06:00 from one day to the next,
06:02 they just came and built this wall
06:03 separating the city in two,
06:05 and it's sad because sometimes families
06:07 were like living practically
06:08 across the street from each other.
06:09 Oh, no, why?
06:11 And all of sudden they weren't able
06:12 to see each other,
06:13 they weren't able to talk to each other,
06:15 they weren't even allowed to telephone call each other
06:16 For how long?
06:17 Well, that wall stood there for about 25 years.
06:19 Twenty five years? Wow.
06:21 And they actually even had different names
06:22 for the city.
06:23 One side was called West Berlin,
06:25 the other side was called East Berlin.
06:27 That's horrible.
06:29 And it was divided by this wall,
06:30 and time just kinda went by
06:32 until I was travelling through Europe in 1989.
06:36 You went to Europe? Yeah.
06:37 Really?
06:38 And it was interesting because I said
06:40 man, it would be so cool to see the Berlin Wall.
06:42 Not because... You went to see it?
06:43 Yeah,
06:44 I didn't wanna see it just because it was a cool thing,
06:46 but it was an important part of history.
06:48 Oh, yeah.
06:49 And a sad part of history, too,
06:50 'cause it was dividing these people.
06:52 Oh, yeah.
06:53 So I made my plans and we made our efforts
06:54 and we actually made it to the border.
06:56 Oh, cool.
06:57 And there were no trains to get in,
06:58 so we actually had to ask somebody for a ride.
07:00 Really?
07:01 But they took us all the way in to West Berlin.
07:04 Now, West Berlin was the side of the city
07:07 that kinda have the same philosophy of the life
07:09 that we had in the west.
07:10 Oh, so we are similar to them.
07:12 Exactly, so we are similar
07:13 but nobody would ever really travel to the east side,
07:16 they have this big wall separating us,
07:19 it was really sad.
07:20 But this one day that I arrived there
07:22 an interesting thing happened.
07:24 What happened? What?
07:25 Well, we were staying at this church
07:27 and somebody ran and they said,
07:28 hey, there's something going on at the wall.
07:30 The wall? What's going on?
07:31 The Berlin Wall was...
07:33 We were gonna go to the wall anyways
07:34 'cause that's what we came to see.
07:36 Yeah.
07:37 So he said, "Let's go down there
07:38 and see what's happening."
07:40 Okay.
07:41 So we got on the train and we went down
07:42 and there was a bunch of people gathering there.
07:44 Oh. Really?
07:45 Yeah.
07:46 And we didn't understand what was happening
07:48 and so we pressed and pushed and got our way
07:49 as far as we could close to the wall.
07:51 We were there for a little while
07:52 but to make a long story short,
07:54 the wall came down.
07:56 No. Really?
07:57 How?
07:59 Yeah, they made this announcement
08:00 and then everybody just kinda went crazy.
08:01 They started climbing up on the wall,
08:03 people from the other side
08:04 started to climbing up on the wall, it was crazy.
08:06 You saw everything?
08:08 We were there,
08:09 I was there and I actually got to climb on the wall, too.
08:11 Wow. That's awesome.
08:12 Now the interesting thing about that,
08:14 little time period that we sat on the wall
08:17 the German people were so happy
08:19 because it was the first time in 25 years,
08:22 that people from the east and people from the west
08:25 got to celebrate together.
08:26 They could see their family.
08:27 And finally see their families and be together
08:29 and it was a very happy moment.
08:31 People were hugging and kissing and singing.
08:34 Oh, wow, that was amazing.
08:35 Wow. I bet.
08:37 You know what?
08:38 Even though I wasn't German,
08:39 I just felt pure joy and happiness.
08:42 I would too. I would have, too.
08:43 Yeah. You know what?
08:44 It's almost like I totally forgot
08:46 that there was anything sad in the world.
08:47 Yeah.
08:48 'Cause that moment was pure, pure joy.
08:50 Oh. Really?
08:51 That's great. It was so cool.
08:53 I even got to cross over to the east side.
08:56 How was it there?
08:57 It was kinda very different because there's nothing like
08:59 stores and shops and stuff like that.
09:00 Really?
09:02 But I only walked around for a couple of minutes
09:03 because technically I wasn't supposed to be
09:04 on that side of road.
09:06 Oh, yeah.
09:07 So we'll keep it a secret, right?
09:09 Yeah, good idea.
09:10 But you know what the cool thing happened,
09:11 since the wall was now officially coming down.
09:13 Yeah.
09:14 Guess what I did?
09:15 What did you do? What?
09:17 Before I cross back over to the west side of the wall,
09:18 I got myself a piece of little east side of the wall.
09:22 Oh, that makes sense, that's what they came for.
09:23 So it's different on its both sides.
09:25 It's different on both sides, yeah.
09:27 That's so cool.
09:28 This is the piece from the east side of the wall.
09:31 And that's a piece from the west.
09:32 And from the west side of the wall.
09:34 That's really awesome. Isn't that cool?
09:35 But you know what standing on that wall
09:37 and having this big huge celebration
09:39 was such a joyful and happy moment.
09:41 Like I said, I forgot about everything else
09:44 and it was just pure joy and happiness.
09:45 That's amazing. And you know what?
09:46 I think that's kinda like
09:48 what God has planned for us when we get to heaven.
09:49 That's true. Yeah.
09:51 Pure joy and happiness. In heaven.
09:52 And actually I think there's a Bible verse
09:54 that we can probably look at to help us know this.
09:56 Oh, you want me to look that up for you?
09:58 That will be great, Sam, if you can look it up,
09:59 Which one is it?
10:00 Check out Revelation 21:4.
10:03 Revelation 21:4?
10:04 21:4, I think there is a verse that's gonna be right on.
10:07 I think this is it.
10:08 "A God will wipe away every tear from their eyes,
10:12 there shall be no more death nor sorrow nor crying,
10:15 there shall be no more pain,
10:17 for the former things have passed away."
10:20 Ah, it's a beautiful thing. That's awesome.
10:21 Yeah. You know what?
10:23 We may not completely fully understand
10:24 how that's gonna happen,
10:25 but there's a promise right there in the Bible
10:27 that says all those sad things will be behind us.
10:29 Yay, I'm excited about that.
10:31 It's so cool. You know what?
10:33 That verse is awesome, you got to write that down
10:35 in our journal here.
10:37 That was Revelation..
10:39 I think 21:4
10:41 That's it.
10:42 Now that's a good verse to remember.
10:44 That's awesome. I love that verse.
10:45 So do you have any pictures from that day?
10:47 Actually, I think we have a file on that.
10:49 Oh, cool. Oh yeah, Berlin file.
10:51 That's right, let's check it out, guys.
10:53 Cool.
10:57 That, there it is.
10:58 Yeah.
10:59 Yeah, I think there's a few more in there.
11:02 Oh! Look at that.
11:04 You could see the difference on the walls.
11:05 Wow.
11:07 And that's me climbing the wall.
11:09 Wow.
11:10 Part of committing our life to God,
11:12 is in having faith that the one who made us
11:14 must know what is best for us,
11:17 even when we don't fully understand.
11:20 Do many of you remember when you were very little
11:23 if your house is on a busy street,
11:24 I'm pretty sure your parents would be very careful
11:27 that you never want to play near the street
11:29 where you can get hurt.
11:31 As a little kid you probably couldn't fully understand,
11:34 why you couldn't play near the street.
11:36 But now we can look back and understand
11:38 that our parent simply knew more about
11:40 what would keep us safe and what would keep us happy.
11:44 We simply have to trust them,
11:46 even though we didn't understand.
11:48 Yeah.
11:49 I don't know how God will do it exactly.
11:52 But as our creator I trust that when He says
11:55 that some day He will wipe away our tears
11:58 and that there will be no more pain.
12:01 Boy, I'm just really looking forward to that.
12:03 Me, too. Me, too.
12:05 At the same time,
12:06 I'm gonna accept what the Bible says
12:09 that God is completely all powerful
12:12 and that He is a perfect judge.
12:15 You know, what we can do though,
12:16 if we are worried about people not being saved,
12:19 then we have reminded that God has actually asked us
12:22 to share the good news of Jesus with everyone we can.
12:26 Other than that I choose to trust God
12:30 and knowing that He has a plan
12:31 to take away all pain and suffering
12:34 and fill our hearts with never ending joy.
12:37 Like the joy I felt on the Berlin Wall,
12:40 when we were celebrating that wonderful reunion.
12:43 After all that's what it says
12:46 right there in today's Bible treasure.
12:50 Why don't we have prayer together, guys?
12:51 Oh, sure. Yes.
12:53 That's sound like a good idea.
12:54 Crew, why don't you come on in, we can all pray together.
12:55 Come on crew.
12:57 Would anybody like to have prayer for us?
12:58 Ooh, can I pray?
13:00 Awesome that be great, Nori.
13:01 Let's bow our heads.
13:03 Dear Jesus,
13:05 thank You for this a beautiful day today
13:07 and just thank You for letting us know
13:09 that we'll one day have complete joy in heaven.
13:11 Amen. Amen.
13:14 Hey, do you guys wanna hear
13:15 the answer to the brainteaser today?
13:16 Oh, yeah. Please.
13:18 I'm waiting.
13:19 All right, I can bet you guys have been probably
13:20 scratching your heads trying to figure that one out.
13:22 Yeah, all day.
13:23 All right. So here's a question.
13:24 What gets wet when drying?
13:27 I don't know.
13:29 Water? No.
13:30 I think I know. What?
13:32 A towel. A towel.
13:33 A towel, that makes sense. Isn't that pretty cool?
13:35 Yeah, that's a good one.
13:37 You know, I'm so glad that you've joined us today
13:39 for Bible Treasures.
13:40 Don't forget to search for treasure every day.
13:44 We'll see you next time.
13:45 Come on guys, let's head out to the dig site.
13:47 Yeah.
13:48 I think we gonna find some pretty cool stuff today.
13:50 Oh, I can't wait to go looking today.
13:51 Awesome day, that was fun, I'm so glad you guys are here.
