Oh, cool. 01:38 Could be headquarters. 01:41 Yeah. 01:43 Wow. 01:45 I've been thinking about something lately. 01:46 Well, what's the best way to know God? 01:49 Well, that's a short question. 01:52 But it's a good one. It is. 01:54 It's a short and sweet question, 01:55 but it is powerful. 01:57 Yeah. Yeah. 01:58 Definitely. How do we respond? 02:00 Well, you know what? 02:01 Let's write this down first of all in our journal. 02:02 Write in your journal. Yep. 02:04 Good idea. 02:07 How do I learn about God? 02:12 That's a good question. Yeah. 02:14 It's a really good question they asked. 02:16 You know what? 02:17 Though I think I know what to do. 02:19 What shall we do? We did an artifact. 02:20 Can you get for us, Nori. What number? 02:22 I think probably 26A will do the trick. 02:25 Okay. 02:26 It's so good that we have all these cool artifacts? 02:28 Yeah, you know, we're out here digging stuff up, 02:30 but we also have some cool stuff from the past. 02:32 Here it is. I found it. Awesome. 02:34 Yes, thank you very much. See what I've gotten here. 02:36 What is it? Ooh! 02:38 Awesome. 02:39 What are those? 02:40 These are shark's teeth. 02:42 I knew it. 02:43 Yeah, you want to hold them. Take this whole one. 02:45 There you go. Wow. 02:46 Nori, you want one. No, thank you. 02:48 They're sharp. 02:49 Yeah, these are shark's teeth that I found in Florida. 02:53 Oh, cool. And you know what? 02:55 Around the waters of Florida 02:57 they say, there's lots of sharks. 02:59 Oh, no, I'd never go there. 03:01 Hey, Sam, why don't you show us on the map 03:03 where Florida is? 03:04 All right. 03:05 It's right here in the United States. 03:07 There it is. Oh, there it is. 03:09 Very cool. But you know what? 03:10 We could probably still learn 03:11 some pretty cool stuff about Florida. 03:13 Why don't you show us something? 03:14 Is there a location brief you send on Florida? 03:16 Let's check it out. 03:17 I've to see it. 03:21 Right there. 03:22 Wow. 03:24 Location brief, Florida. 03:27 Florida is one of the most well-known 03:30 of the United States. 03:32 Most of the state sits on a huge peninsula 03:36 that extends out between the Gulf of Mexico 03:41 and the Atlantic Ocean. 03:43 It's one of the flattest states 03:46 as well as the state with the lowest elevation 03:49 above sea level. 03:51 Florida has become a popular destination 03:54 because of the temperate climate year round. 03:58 Summers can get hot and humid, but winters are very pleasant, 04:04 therefore attracting millions of visitors 04:08 from colder regions. 04:11 Nevertheless, 04:12 Florida is no stranger to the extreme weather, 04:16 with massive hurricanes posing severe threats 04:20 every once in a while, 04:22 as well as tropical storms that can be very destructive. 04:27 Because of the warm weather, 04:29 Florida is home to a variety of plants and trees, 04:34 including palm trees and mangroves 04:37 that dominate the low lying Everglades. 04:41 It's also home to expansive orange crops. 04:47 Florida is also home to a handful 04:51 of unique types of wildlife. 04:54 In the waters around Florida, 04:56 one can see dolphins and manatee, 05:00 while on land there are creatures 05:02 such as the Florida panther and the black bear, 05:06 as well as deer, 05:08 and foxes, and wild boar. 05:11 A large variety of reptiles 05:14 are also commonly found in Florida, 05:17 including the alligator and a variety of snakes, 05:20 lizards and turtles. 05:23 As for birds, 05:24 the list of birds commonly found in Florida 05:27 include the peregrine falcon, flamingos, 05:31 cranes, pelicans and, of course, 05:35 with this much coastline, seagulls. 05:39 Florida also hosts the only living coral barrier reef 05:44 in the continental United States 05:46 and happens to be the third largest reef system 05:50 in the world. 05:52 Because of all this amazing nature, 05:55 several impressive national parks and preserves 05:58 have been established in Florida, 06:01 Including the Everglades National Park, 06:04 Big Cypress National Preserve, 06:08 Biscayne National Park, 06:11 and the Dry Tortugas at the end of Key West. 06:17 When the first European explorers arrived, 06:20 they called this land La Florida, 06:23 which means land of flowers. 06:27 In the 500 years after that, 06:30 Florida has become famous for a massive tourist industry, 06:35 led by Disney World, 06:37 as well as the Kennedy Space Center, 06:40 the primary launch center for human spaceflight, 06:44 including the space shuttle launches 06:47 and the Apollo flights. 06:50 In Miami, 06:51 the port has become the world's largest 06:55 cruise ship port. 06:58 This concludes this location brief. 07:03 Cool. 07:04 All those amazing attractions. 07:06 Florida is a neat place, 07:08 and a really nice warm place to go in the winter. 07:10 Yeah. 07:11 When I was a kid, I actually used to live in Florida. 07:13 Really? Cool. 07:14 Was it fun? It was great. 07:15 And you know what my favorite part was? 07:17 What? 07:18 Every once in a while my parents would take me 07:19 to a dolphin show. 07:21 A dolphin show? Yeah, it was cool. 07:22 They do tricks and jumping around. 07:23 Oh, I wish I could been there. 07:25 It was so cool. Yeah, me too. 07:26 But you know what happened? 07:28 Just about a year or two ago, 07:29 I got to go back with my family. 07:30 Oh. 07:32 We were taking a little vacation over spring break. 07:33 Did you get to see a dolphin? 07:34 Well, guess what happened? 07:36 I ran into some friends and they had a boat. 07:38 Really? 07:40 So they said, "Hey, you guys want to go out 07:41 on the boat with us?" 07:42 And we said, "Sure, that sounds great." 07:44 And we went out on the Gulf of Mexico 07:46 in a boat near Fort Myers and we saw dolphins. 07:50 You did? Di you take a lot of pictures? 07:52 We did take a lot of pictures when we saw them jumping around 07:54 a couple of times they got really close like literally a 07:57 foot or two away from our boat. 07:59 It was nice. 08:00 When I was little, I used to just study dolphins 08:02 and know everything about them. 08:04 And then when I got to see them so close up, 08:06 it was a treat. 08:07 Oh, I bet. 08:09 Now here's what happened though. 08:10 On that same trip, we were sitting on the beach, 08:12 chilling out. 08:13 It was in the evening, 08:15 the sun was kind of starting to set. 08:16 A lot of people had already left the beach. 08:19 But out in front of us, there was three guys. 08:21 I think there were about college age guys, 08:23 they were still sitting in the water, 08:24 just having fun playing, 08:25 throwing a frisbee or something. 08:27 We were sitting on the beach, nothing big. 08:29 All of a sudden, 08:31 the three guys come running out the beach. 08:33 And you know what they were saying? 08:34 Sure. Shark, shark, shark, shark! 08:36 I don't believe there was actually a shark. 08:38 Well, we looked up and we were just shocked 08:40 at what these guys were saying. 08:41 And I looked out into the water and sure enough I saw a fin, 08:45 but you'll never guess what I did. 08:47 What? What did you do? 08:49 I got up and ran towards the water. 08:51 What? Why would you do that? 08:53 No, you're kidding. 08:54 The guys were running out and I was running in, 08:56 you know why? 08:57 Why? 08:58 Because I had recognized that it was not a shark. 09:00 It was... A dolphin. 09:03 That's good. 09:05 And my sons came with me 09:06 and we got as close as we could to the dolphin. 09:08 I think it was about 20 feet away from us. 09:10 And we just had a super fun time. 09:13 And it made me think, wow, 09:14 those guys couldn't recognize the difference 09:16 between the dorsal fin of a shark 09:19 or a dolphin. 09:21 Do you think it made a difference 09:22 to know the dolphin, 09:24 to be able to recognize a dolphin? 09:25 Yes. Absolutely. 09:27 And the question today was asking about 09:28 how do we get to know God? 09:30 We get to know God by studying, 09:32 and reading, and learning, and praying. 09:33 Yeah, being aware of Him. 09:35 Reading the Bible. Exactly. 09:36 And you know what, Sam? 09:38 I think there's a verse that we can find 09:39 that will help us with this. 09:40 All right, which one is it? Can you look up Mark 1:35? 09:45 Mark is about one here, right here. 09:48 Yep, this verse is going to be great. 09:49 "Now in the morning, having risen a long while 09:53 before daylight, He went out 09:54 and departed to a solitary place, 09:56 and there He prayed." 09:58 There's a clue right there. 09:59 Good verse. Yeah. 10:01 Great verse, it tells us how he went to a quiet 10:03 and solitary place to connect with God 10:05 and to get to know God. 10:07 You know what? 10:08 We've got to write this verse down. 10:10 Yeah, good idea. That was an awesome verse. 10:11 That was what Mark... 10:12 Mark 1:35. 10:14 Mark 1:35. 10:16 And it shows how He connected with His Father 10:18 and we connect with our Father, which is Him. 10:20 That is awesome. Great verse. 10:22 I saw a video on there. 10:23 Let's go check it out. Yeah, that's true. 10:24 I did bring some video back from that trip. 10:26 Let's see it. Maybe a few pictures. 10:27 Oh, let's see it. 10:29 Oh, look. 10:30 See, look at the dolphin. 10:32 They're so cool. So cute. 10:34 Wow. 10:35 Look at that one. Wow, that's awesome. 10:39 I liked that. 10:40 Spending time with God is the key to getting 10:42 to know Him better. 10:44 I'm pretty sure each one of you has a close friend. 10:47 The question is, 10:49 how did you become close friends? 10:51 Were you close friends the moment you met, 10:54 or did you become close friends 10:55 because you spent time with each other? 10:58 Spending time together 11:00 is how you get to know friends here on earth. 11:01 But it's also the same way we get to know our Father, 11:05 who is in heaven. 11:07 So how do we spend time with God? 11:09 It's true. 11:11 It's not like we can go out and get ice cream together. 11:13 But I think that someday in heaven, 11:15 it will be kind of like that, 11:16 that we'll be able to just hang out 11:18 and get to know God. 11:20 But the best thing we can do now 11:22 is to spend time reading His Word. 11:24 Good idea. 11:26 The Bible is filled with stories 11:27 and examples of God and His amazing love. 11:30 It's filled with stories of how God created the world, 11:33 and how He loved us so much 11:35 that He wanted to save us 11:36 when we accidentally messed up and sinned. 11:40 It also has the story of how God's own Son 11:43 came and took our punishment, 11:45 so that we could still have a chance 11:47 to be saved. 11:49 Plus, there are countless stories 11:51 about how God worked through people throughout history. 11:54 People like Noah, and Joseph, and Esther, and Paul. 11:58 You want to get to know God? 12:00 Start right here. 12:02 Yeah, in His Word. Right. 12:04 But the next thing you want to do 12:06 is spend quiet time talking to Him. 12:08 Thank Him for what He's done in your life. 12:11 Tell Him the problems and the concerns that you have. 12:14 Worship and praise Him for His amazing love. 12:17 The more time you spend with Him, 12:19 the more you will know Him. 12:21 It says it right there in today's Bible treasure. 12:26 Why don't we have a prayer together? 12:27 That's a good idea. 12:28 Let's get the rest of the gang to come in. 12:30 Hey, crew, come on in, guys. Yeah. 12:32 Would one of you guys like to pray for us? 12:35 Oh, sure. 12:36 I will do, I love to. Awesome. 12:37 Thanks, Nori. 12:39 Why don't we bow our heads and have prayer? 12:41 Dear Jesus, 12:43 thank You for the opportunity of spending time with You 12:46 and Your holy Word and prayer. 12:47 Help us to do this every day, in Jesus' name, amen. 12:51 Amen. Amen. 12:52 All right, how many of you guys want to know the answer 12:54 to our brain teaser? 12:56 Oh, I'm waiting to know. 12:58 Let's see if you guys could figure this out. 13:00 That was a tough one. That was a real tough one. 13:02 Let me remind you what I had asked. 13:04 What do you throw out when you want to use it, 13:06 but take in when you don't want to use it? 13:09 I can't get that one. 13:11 Garbage. 13:12 No! 13:14 An anchor. 13:16 That's right. 13:18 Tim got it. Throw it out. 13:20 I'm so glad you joined us today for Bible Treasures. 13:23 Don't forget to search for treasure. 13:25 And read it. 13:27 See you next time. Come on, guys. 13:29 Let's head out to the dig site. 13:30 Let's go digging, guys. 13:32 We're gonna find some cool stuff today. 13:33 I can't wait to see, we got a fine stuff. 13:35 That would be cool if we find sharks, 13:36 can you imagine? |
