What a great team. 01:23 And, guys, before we get started today, 01:25 how about we sharpen our brains? 01:26 With a brain teaser! 01:28 With a brain teaser. 01:29 All right, here we go. 01:30 I got a good one for you guys today. 01:32 Let's see if you can figure it out. 01:34 It says what starts with the letter T, 01:38 is filled with T and ends with T. 01:41 What? I don't know. 01:42 Oh, my, that's hard. 01:43 Oh, yeah, I can't. 01:45 I find some good ones, huh? 01:46 Yeah, you do. Yes, you do actually, really. 01:48 I think we got a message from headquarters. 01:49 Let's check it out. 01:50 I need to see this. 01:53 Right there. 01:54 It seems like at school, I get in trouble all the time. 01:57 I get trouble at home too. 01:59 It just makes me mad. 02:01 I don't know what to do about it. 02:03 Can you help? 02:05 Wow, that's a great question. 02:07 Yeah. 02:08 There was a boy who used to get in trouble 02:10 in my class all the time. 02:11 Oh, really? 02:12 I really felt bad for him. 02:14 You know, there's just some kids that, 02:15 they're just good at getting into trouble or something. 02:17 Yeah. How do we reply? 02:19 I don't know. 02:20 You know, first thing so, let's get this in our journal. 02:22 Yeah, good idea. 02:23 Because this is a great question. 02:25 Yeah. 02:26 I'll write here. 02:27 What will we write? 02:29 Well, I'd say, how can you help my temper? 02:35 Yeah. 02:37 Good. 02:38 What should we do? You know what? 02:39 I think, I know exactly what we need. 02:41 There's an artifact I have in mind. 02:42 Oh, my job. 02:44 12B, 12B. This is gonna be good. 02:45 I wonder what it is this time. 02:47 You know, we've got some pretty cool stuff 02:48 that we've collected over the years. 02:49 I know. Wow! What is that? 02:51 What is it? 02:52 This is a relief map. 02:54 A relief map? 02:55 A relief map of an island called Tenerife, 02:57 which is part of the Canary Islands group, 03:00 just off the coast of Africa. 03:01 Yeah. I've heard it that before. 03:03 Yeah, actually, Sam, 03:04 could you please find that on the map for us? 03:06 Sure. It's off the coast of Africa. 03:08 So we will probably be right here. 03:10 That's it. There it is. 03:11 Tenerife. You know what? 03:13 If we were to find a location brief on this, 03:15 that would help a lot. 03:16 I got you. You got one? 03:17 Awesome. Let's do it. 03:20 Right there. 03:22 Oh, there it is. 03:23 That's cool. 03:25 Location brief, Canary Islands. 03:29 The Canary Islands are a group of islands 03:32 that belong to Spain, in Europe, 03:36 but geographically speaking, they are part of Africa. 03:41 They are located just 65 miles off the coast of Morocco, 03:47 and almost 1000 miles 03:49 from the mainland country of Spain. 03:52 The Canary Islands 03:54 are made up of a group of seven main islands 03:58 and several smaller islands. 04:01 The name Canary 04:03 has nothing to do with the birds. 04:06 In Spanish, Canarias 04:08 is a reference to canines or dogs 04:12 that apparently used to live on the island long ago. 04:17 Each of the seven Canary Islands 04:20 is incredibly different and unique. 04:23 Lanzarote is like walking on the moon, 04:28 due to its 300 volcanoes 04:31 crowded on to this small island. 04:34 Endless lava fields 04:36 and enormous craters dot the landscape. 04:42 Fuerteventura is known for its long miles 04:46 of white sand dune beaches and shallow clear water, 04:51 perfect for water related activities. 04:56 Gran Canaria is home 04:58 to one of the two capitals of the Canary Islands. 05:02 This small round island is almost 30 miles across, 05:07 but it is host to an amazing variety of landscapes, 05:12 including beaches, desert, tropical vegetation, 05:17 and even snowy mountain ranges. 05:22 Tenerife hosts a second capital of the Canary Islands, 05:27 and features mountain, forest, and beach landscapes, 05:31 with its majestic centerpiece, Mount Teide, 05:36 a massive volcano 05:38 and the tallest mountain in all of Spain. 05:43 La Gomera is a small mountainous island 05:47 that abruptly rises up out of the ocean, 05:50 almost 5000 feet above sea level. 05:54 La Gomera is also home 05:56 to an ancient whistling language 05:59 that would allow people 06:00 to communicate across wide valleys. 06:06 La Palma has a nickname. 06:09 La Isla Bonita or the Pretty Island 06:13 because of its lush greenery, 06:16 natural springs and blue skies. 06:20 The seventh island is the smallest, El Hierro, 06:25 an island of mountains and craters, cliffs 06:29 and some of the most fertile growing lands 06:32 in all of the Canaries. 06:35 There are several unique 06:37 kinds of nature native to the Canaries, 06:40 including many kinds of flowers, cacti, 06:44 and a unique plant called the dragon tree. 06:49 Many different types of birds, reptiles, mammals, 06:54 and sea creatures live in the Canaries too, 06:58 due to the wide range of habitats 07:01 found on this group of islands. 07:05 These islands may be small, 07:08 but the diversity of nature found here 07:11 is wonderful and profound. 07:15 This concludes this location brief. 07:19 Interesting. 07:20 Isn't that a cool place? 07:22 Yeah. Definitely. 07:23 Really remote too, and hard to get there. 07:25 I actually got to travel there once. 07:26 Cool. Really? 07:28 Yeah. And you know why we went? 07:29 Why? 07:30 Because my mom's family is from this island. 07:33 Oh, there? Really? 07:34 Wow! Yeah, it's pretty cool. 07:35 And she had always told us about this place 07:37 when she was little. 07:38 So it was just kind of on our bucket list 07:40 of someday get to go there. 07:42 So the day finally came, 07:43 and I actually got to go with my parents... 07:45 Oh, that's awesome. 07:47 To this island. It was cool. 07:48 We had planned ahead and we found a place to stay 07:50 and we were so excited 07:52 and ready to have an awesome time. 07:54 We arrived and landed at the airport. 07:57 And then we stayed in one of these cities here. 07:59 Let me see. Was there a hotel there? 08:00 Yep, it was right there. 08:02 Wow! 08:03 Right off the edge. 08:05 It was cool place and it had black sand beaches. 08:07 Black sand? 08:09 I've never seen that before. 08:10 What? 08:11 You know, why it has black sand? 08:13 Why? 08:14 Because this is a volcano. 08:15 A volcano, right. 08:17 A volcano? Yep. 08:18 And as a matter of fact, 08:19 these islands belong to the country of Spain. 08:21 Spain? 08:22 And this is the tallest peak in all of Spain. 08:25 Really? In Africa? 08:26 Yeah, can you believe that? 08:28 An island off the coast of Africa. 08:29 What did the people speak there? 08:30 And it's over 12,000 feet 08:32 right at the top of the mountain. 08:33 Wow! And that's tall. 08:35 Now, right here at the top of the mountain. 08:37 That's a volcano, as I mentioned. 08:38 And it is considered to be an active volcano 08:41 by some scientists 08:42 because it has erupted even in the last 100 years. 08:46 Really? Last 100 years? 08:48 So what do people speak there, what language? 08:50 They do speak Spanish there. Oh, cool. 08:52 Right. It is cool. 08:53 So that helps because I speak Spanish, 08:54 so we were able to communicate just great there. 08:56 Oh, that's great. 08:57 So you know what we did? 08:58 When we were there with my parents, 09:00 we rented a car. 09:01 Okay. Nice. 09:03 And we wanted to go up and see the volcano. 09:04 Can you believe that? 09:05 You can actually get close to a volcano. 09:07 You can? No, I didn't. 09:08 I thought you'll burn up or something. 09:09 Yeah, it's scary because it's an active volcano. 09:11 Is it hot up there? 09:12 It is kind of hot up there. 09:13 And, of course, we're always worried 09:15 that at any moment, that get explode. 09:16 Oh, no! 09:19 But we were brave. 09:20 We decided to get into our car 09:22 and there's a road that actually goes up 09:24 and into the crater right here. 09:26 The cool thing is, once you enter into the crater, 09:30 it's like you're on a different planet. 09:32 Really? 09:33 Yeah, it's weird because there's no trees, 09:35 no grass, just lava as far as you can see. 09:38 Like Mercury or Saturn? 09:40 Yeah, I mean, I've never been to those places, 09:42 but it looked like another world. 09:44 Wow! 09:46 I would have loved to be in there. 09:47 It was so cool. 09:48 Now we kept getting closer and closer and closer 09:50 on this road. 09:51 And then we arrived to a spot right about there. 09:53 And there's a cable car 09:55 that you can take to the very top. 09:56 The very top? Okay. 09:58 And the whole time... I want to do that. 10:00 It'd be cool. Me too. 10:01 And the whole way up, we're just kind of worried, 10:03 boy, I hope this place doesn't explode on us. 10:08 Let me tell you being at the place like this 10:10 just made me wonder if it could explode any moment. 10:12 And sometimes people can explode at any moment. 10:16 Oh, that's good point. Yeah. 10:18 Because the person 10:19 that was writing in our question today 10:21 was worried about his friend 10:22 who's kind of explosive personality, 10:25 and sometimes his temper can get into a lot of trouble. 10:28 You know what? 10:29 Wouldn't it be great if there was a Bible verse 10:30 that can help us with explosive tempers? 10:32 I think that there probably is. 10:35 Why don't you look up James 1:19? 10:37 James 1:19. 10:38 And you gonna find that there's some amazing advice 10:40 that we can learn from this Bible verse. 10:43 It's right here. 10:46 Awesome. 10:47 If you can read it for us, Sam, James 1:19. 10:49 What does it say? 10:50 "So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, 10:54 slow to speak, slow to wrath." 10:56 Oh, yep. 10:58 You see, God tells us. 10:59 This is a great advice for people 11:01 that can be explosive. 11:02 Be slow to listen and slow to speak. 11:05 And then you won't get yourself in trouble so much. 11:07 Yeah. 11:08 It's a great verse. You know what? 11:10 I gotta write this down. Yeah, you should write it down. 11:11 We should write it down. 11:12 It was James... 11:14 What was it? 11:15 1:19. 1:19. 11:17 Wow, that's a great verse. Really. 11:19 Man, you guys wanna see some pictures from my trip? 11:22 Yeah, I would like to. I saw in the file. 11:23 You saw in the file? Yeah. 11:25 Let's take a look at it. 11:26 As I was looking around. 11:28 Cool. 11:29 Yeah, right there. 11:30 Wow! That's awesome. 11:32 Cool. It's a beautiful place. 11:33 Look at the volcano. 11:35 Yeah, I'd be so scared to be there. 11:36 I don't do it. 11:38 When someone loses their temper, 11:39 it can be pretty intense. 11:41 When people are not in control, 11:43 their words and actions can be very hurtful and damaging. 11:47 We have to be careful 11:48 not to let our words and actions 11:50 cause hurt to others 11:52 because I was angry at that moment. 11:56 The Bible even has another verse in Proverbs 29:11, 11:59 that says, "A fool vents his feelings, 12:02 but a wise man holds them back." 12:05 We can't go around being fools. 12:08 God gave us brains to be smart and to be wise. 12:11 We need to be like the wise one, 12:13 and hold back and control our feelings. 12:16 Right. Yeah. 12:17 Now we've all gotten angry before, 12:19 it is a human emotion. 12:20 But it doesn't have to mean that 12:22 we lose our cool every time someone makes you angry. 12:25 So true. 12:27 Plus, if you get angry 12:28 at something, someone else says, 12:30 you know, you're actually letting them 12:31 control your feelings. 12:33 That's true. 12:34 We've got to be smarter than that. 12:36 The best advice comes right from the treasure text. 12:39 Be wise, hold back your feelings, 12:42 keep your cool, 12:43 and you'll see that exploding like a volcano 12:46 doesn't solve any problems. 12:48 Usually, they only make the problems worse. 12:50 Yeah. Yeah. 12:52 It says it right there in today's Bible Treasure. 12:55 You know what, guys? 12:57 Why don't we close with a word of prayer? 12:58 Oh, God, yeah. We should ask the crew to come. 13:00 Let's bring the crew back in. 13:01 Hey, crew, where are you guys? 13:02 Come on in. 13:04 Let's have a word of prayer. 13:05 Would one of you guys like to offer prayer for us? 13:06 I would. Awesome. 13:08 Okay. Sam's gonna pray for us. 13:09 Let's bow our heads. 13:11 Dear Lord, thank You for this day. 13:12 Thank You for all the wonderful people. 13:15 Dear Lord, help us not to lose our temper 13:18 and help us to be more like You 13:21 and be slow to anger and quick to listen. 13:24 In Your Son Jesus name, I pray, amen. 13:26 Amen. 13:28 Hey, do you guys wanna get the answer 13:30 to the brain teaser? 13:31 Yeah! 13:33 All right, this was a tough one, 13:34 I think, I saw you guys 13:35 thinking and thinking and thinking. 13:37 All right. 13:38 The question was, 13:39 what starts with the letter T is filled with T and ends in T? 13:45 A tortoise? 13:47 No. 13:48 Tea pot. 13:50 A tea pot. 13:51 Yeah. 13:53 That's a good one. That was a hard one. 13:54 Yeah, it was. I'm thinking forever. 13:55 I'm so glad you joined us today for Bible Treasures. 13:58 Don't forget to search for treasure 14:00 every day. 14:02 See you next time. 14:04 Come on, guys, let's head out to the dig site. 14:05 Yeah, let's go dig. 14:06 Let's see what we can find today. 14:08 That'd be cool. 14:09 I thought we're gonna find some pretty neat stuff. |
