00:02 It's time to go on a journey,
00:05 a search for treasure. 00:08 This is no ordinary treasure though. 00:11 This priceless discovery contains God's Word, 00:16 including secrets from the past and future 00:20 that will change your life. 00:23 Welcome to Bible Treasures. 00:32 Oh, my goodness, such a hot day. 00:34 I know. 00:36 Hey, guys. Hi. 00:37 Sorry, I'm late. Why are you late? 00:39 I was looking for my watch, 00:41 but I didn't have the time. 00:44 That's hilarious. Okay. That's hilarious. 00:46 Good morning, everybody. 00:48 You guys, okay? Yeah. 00:49 Come on in guys. 00:51 Man, I'm so happy to see you guys. 00:52 Yeah, me too. 00:54 Welcome to Bible Treasures. 00:55 My name is Rich Aguilera. 00:56 And I'm so happy you're with us today. 00:58 We have a really cool team working. 00:59 Why don't we meet them now? 01:02 Hi, I'm Elizabeth, and I'm your computer ops girl. 01:05 Cool. 01:06 And I'm Sam, the one that you need to talk to 01:08 if you have historical document problems. 01:11 And I'm Nori, and I love to be working with 01:13 really cool artifacts. 01:14 Awesome. Well, you know what? 01:16 We should get started today with a brain teaser. 01:18 Yeah, it'll sharpen our brains. 01:20 It's a great way to sharpen our brains, 01:21 so that we're ready to go, go, go. 01:23 Yeah, what is it? All right. 01:25 Here we go. See if we can get this one. 01:26 Okay. 01:27 I am the only organ in the human body 01:30 that gave itself its own name. 01:34 What am I? 01:36 I don't know. I wonder which one it is. 01:38 Now, that's a tough one. 01:39 Yeah. 01:41 Is that a notification? 01:42 Did we get a message from headquarters? 01:44 Oh, man, we got another assignment. 01:45 Oh, what is the message today? 01:48 I've been praying for something for several weeks now 01:52 and nothing is really happening. 01:55 Do you think God is even listening to me? 01:59 Well, I think that's happened to all of us. 02:00 Yeah, it's happening to me right now. 02:03 Yeah. 02:04 We always probably get to a point in life 02:05 that we are just wondering if God is listening to us. 02:07 Yeah. Yeah. 02:09 What should we answer? 02:10 Yeah. It's a good question. 02:12 Well, you know, first things first, 02:13 let's write this question in our journal. 02:15 Yeah, we got to track all these cool questions. 02:18 Is God listening to me? 02:22 Yeah, I would hope so. I don't know. 02:25 Well, you know what? 02:26 I think I have an idea. What? 02:27 I got an artifact in mind, I think will help us. 02:30 Can you dig up artifact number 37B? 02:32 37B, okay. 37B, yeah. 02:35 Good that we have all these good artifacts. 02:36 They are very handy and you never know 02:38 when we're gonna need them. 02:39 Yeah. Exactly. 02:41 Kind of a heavy one. 02:42 Oh, what is this? Wow. 02:43 This is an Aztec calendar. Aztec? 02:45 I've heard of those symbols before. 02:47 Yeah, this came from the Yucatan Peninsula 02:49 in Mexico. 02:51 Yeah, the Aztec's live there. 02:53 Sam, do you think you can point to us on the map 02:55 where the Aztecs used to live? 02:57 I know where it is. It's right here. 02:59 Oh, there it is. That's it. That's it. 03:01 I just saw location brief the other day. 03:03 A location brief, let's see it. 03:04 Let's take a look at it, this will be handy. 03:06 Do you find it? 03:07 Oh, yeah. Oh, there it is. 03:09 There it is. 03:10 Cool location. 03:11 Location brief, Yucatan. 03:15 The Yucatan Peninsula in South Eastern Mexico 03:19 is a massive peninsula 03:21 that separates the Caribbean Sea 03:24 from the Gulf of Mexico. 03:27 To the south is the border with Guatemala and Belize 03:31 and off the North East Coast is Cuba 03:35 only 120 miles offshore. 03:40 The climate here is tropical, 03:42 with simply a wet and dry season. 03:47 Summertime can be very hot. 03:52 Almost the entire Peninsula is composed of limestone, 03:57 a sedimentary rock that erodes easily. 04:01 A large part of the peninsula is very flat. 04:05 And there are thousands of sinkholes, 04:08 known locally, as Cenotes. 04:12 There are no rivers in the north, 04:15 so these sinkholes have historically given people 04:18 access to groundwater. 04:21 Off the eastern coast, 04:23 is the second largest reef barrier in the world, 04:27 over 550 miles long. 04:33 Most of the vegetation on the Yucatan Peninsula 04:36 is tropical jungle, 04:39 extending from the north all the way to the border 04:43 of Guatemala and Belize. 04:48 The Yucatan Peninsula is an important area 04:52 for the ancient Mayan culture. 04:54 And there are many important Mayan archaeological sites 04:59 in the region. 05:01 One of the most important ancient cities in Mayan history 05:05 can still be visited today, 05:08 the ruins of Chichen Itza. 05:12 Even to this day, 05:13 Mayan languages are still spoken 05:16 by native Maya people that still live in the area. 05:21 The Maya people in these villages and towns 05:23 may be far from the tourist areas, 05:26 but they continue to make traditional handcrafts 05:30 and woven fabrics 05:31 and maintain a unique culture. 05:36 This concludes this location brief. 05:40 What beautiful pictures? Wow! 05:43 Neat. That is a neat place. Yeah. 05:45 Cool. You know what? 05:46 I got the chance to travel there with my wife 05:48 right after we got married. 05:49 Really? Really? 05:51 Yup. It was so cool. It's awesome. 05:52 But you know, the funny thing is? 05:54 What? 05:55 We were a little poor back then. 05:56 And when we arrived there, 05:58 we had this huge list of stuff that we wanted to see. 05:59 Really? 06:01 And one of the places I wanted to always see was this 06:03 pyramid complex called Chichen Itza. 06:05 Oh. Chichen Itza? 06:07 Yeah, it's got a strange name, isn't it? 06:08 It's very strange. 06:10 It's in Mexico right there in the Yucatan Peninsula. 06:12 Cool. 06:13 But when I did my little research, 06:14 turns out it was like two hours away. 06:16 Two hours? That's a long way. 06:18 It is and I started calling around to see 06:19 if there's a tour that could take us there, 06:21 but it was so expensive. 06:22 Yeah. 06:24 So I was kind of disappointed, but then we found out 06:25 that there was a public bus 06:27 that can take us there. 06:29 And when I found out it was only $5. 06:31 Oh, wow, that's great. 06:32 I can afford that. 06:34 So the next day we got on the bus 06:36 and we went out to Chichen Itza. 06:38 And we walked around the ruins and we got to climb 06:41 and around the pyramids, 06:42 and they had a bunch of old buildings. 06:43 That's wonderful. Yeah, it was super, super cool. 06:45 I wish I could have been there. 06:47 That was awesome. Me too. 06:48 Now, at the end of the day, 06:49 we wanted to make sure we got back to the bus stop 06:51 because the last bus left at 4:30. 06:53 So we made our way to the entrance. 06:55 And then guess what? 06:57 Something caught my eye all of the sudden. 06:58 What happened with your eye? What? 06:59 There was a little souvenir stand. 07:01 Oh! Oh, okay. 07:03 And that must have been there you got that at? 07:04 And that's where I got this. 07:06 Oh, cool. That one is so cool. 07:07 It is. This is actually a calendar. 07:10 A calendar? 07:11 They actually used to use this to track time 07:13 and months and season. 07:14 It's pretty cool. Oh, wow! 07:15 That's amazing little face. 07:17 I know, that's a funny face with his tongue sticking out 07:18 right there. 07:20 I wonder how they used to do it? 07:21 Yeah, I'm not sure. 07:22 The cool thing is though, 07:24 I was able to buy it after some negotiating 07:25 because in these countries 07:27 they love to negotiate back and forth... 07:28 Like trading? 07:29 Yeah, kinda like trading prices. 07:31 Okay. 07:32 So we finally decided on a price 07:34 that we thought was acceptable. 07:35 And I bought it and he packaged it up 07:37 and you know what? 07:38 I kinda lost track of time. No, did you miss the bus? 07:42 We missed the bus. You missed the bus? 07:45 Can you believe that? What did you do? 07:46 A thing that tracks time 07:48 caused me to lose track of time. 07:50 Oh, that's hilarious. 07:52 But that's not the end of the story. 07:53 What next? Well, what happened next? 07:55 Well, we needed to get back to Cancun 07:56 where we were staying. 07:57 Yeah. 07:59 Two hours away and there's no bus. 08:00 Oh, that's horrible. 08:02 You didn't have to walk, did you? 08:03 That's too far. Oh, that is far. 08:04 You know, what we did? What do you do? 08:06 We prayed. Oh, that's a good idea. 08:07 Oh, that's good thing to do in any situation. 08:09 You know, we prayed and guess what happened? 08:11 What? Another bus came? 08:13 Nope. 08:14 Nothing happened. 08:16 Oh, okay. 08:18 Nothing happened. 08:19 We sat there for an hour, nothing happened. 08:22 And we're like, we prayed. 08:25 How come nothing happened? Yeah. 08:26 That's in our today's question. 08:28 So, you know, I started wondering 08:29 what I can do. 08:30 Yeah. 08:32 But here's the interesting thing. 08:33 We finally came up with an idea. 08:34 What's the idea? 08:36 We went to the edge of the road, 08:37 and I stuck my thumb out. 08:40 What did that do? That's hitchhiking. 08:42 Now, I don't recommend hitchhiking. 08:43 But, we were stuck and we didn't have any options. 08:46 So I came up with this idea, 08:47 it's like maybe we can hitchhike 08:48 to the nearest town. 08:50 And from there, we can catch a bus. 08:51 Yeah, maybe. 08:52 So we stuck out our thumb. 08:54 And guess what? 08:55 Only like 15 minutes later, 08:57 a pickup truck pulled over and picked us up. 08:59 Oh, God answered your prayer. 09:00 And the fun part is, the guy pulled over 09:02 and says, yeah, you can jump in the back, 09:04 because there was no room in the front. 09:06 So we had to be in the back bed of the pickup truck. 09:08 So we climbed in there and my wife 09:09 and I were sitting on the pickup truck... 09:11 Must been a bumpy ride. 09:12 It was kinda bumpy. 09:14 But you know, what else happened? 09:15 What happened? 09:16 It started to rain. 09:18 Oh, no. 09:19 It started to rain on us. 09:20 And we were sitting there looking at each other. 09:22 But it was so funny because we were hitchhiking 09:25 in the back of a pickup truck. 09:27 And it was raining on us. 09:28 Oh, wow. Well, at least you got a ride. 09:30 Exactly, we were so thankful that God had listened to us. 09:33 Yeah. 09:35 The thing is, sometimes God answers different ways. 09:37 Yeah. 09:38 Sometimes we ask for things 09:40 and we want them to answer this way. 09:41 But sometimes God can answer different ways. 09:43 Because He knows what's best. 09:45 Exactly. Exactly. Yeah, that's true. 09:46 Now, that we look back, 09:48 we just love the memory that we have of that day, 09:50 catching a ride back 09:51 in the back of the pickup truck, 09:53 and getting rained on. 09:54 That's a great story. 09:56 You know, there's a Bible text, 09:57 Sam, I think that would really help us tie this up. 09:58 I can look that up. Can you look it up for us? 10:00 It's in 1 John. 1 John. 10:02 Yep, that's way towards the back of the Bible. 10:04 Yeah. 1 John 5:14. 10:07 1 John 5:14. 10:08 Right here. Go for it. 10:10 "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, 10:13 that if we ask anything according to His will, 10:16 He will hears us." 10:17 Oh, that's beautiful. That's a gratefulness. 10:19 Isn't that great? 10:20 The interesting thing about that is that 10:21 it says that God will hear us. 10:23 You know, a lot of people think God must instantly answer, 10:26 but that's not the promise, 10:27 the promises that God will hear us. 10:29 Yeah. 10:30 And He will answer us 10:31 but sometimes we hope it's gonna be our way. 10:34 But we want it to be His way. 10:35 Yeah, God's way. 10:37 We should write down this verse. 10:38 What do you guys say? Definitely. 10:39 All right. That was 1 John, right? 10:41 1 John 5:14. 10:43 Cool. 10:44 Do you have any pictures from your trip? 10:46 Yeah. You know what? 10:47 We absolutely took some pictures in Chichen Itza. 10:48 Why don't we take a look at them? 10:50 Wow, let's look. 10:51 Wow, I wonder what that it is? 10:55 Wow! 10:59 Oh, look at it. 11:01 I remember growing up, 11:02 and thinking that praying to God 11:04 was like going shopping or something. 11:06 I had my big list of stuff that I wanted to ask for 11:08 and all I had to do was tell God, 11:10 and then sit back and enjoy. 11:13 Of course, I soon found out that sometimes we pray, 11:16 and nothing seems to happen. 11:17 Yeah. 11:19 As we read in our verse, though, 11:20 it promises with all certainty 11:22 that God is hearing every word of our prayer. 11:25 Yeah, He is. 11:26 But then, why doesn't He respond? 11:29 Well, while we were in Mexico, our experience showed us 11:32 that God was definitely listening. 11:34 But He had a different answer for us. 11:36 Yeah, that's true. 11:37 Sometimes God's answer will be exactly 11:39 what we prayed for. 11:41 Other times, the answer may not come, 11:43 even for years. 11:45 Yeah. The fact still remains though. 11:46 God is listening. Yeah. 11:49 But the problem is 11:50 that sometimes we don't like His answer. 11:53 Yeah. Right. 11:54 What we need to learn to do is to trust God. 11:57 If we can first understand that He created us 12:00 that will help us see why He loves us so much. 12:03 He also proved that when His Son died, 12:06 to give us a second chance, 12:08 so that we can be recreated and go to heaven, 12:11 God's love, it's proven. 12:14 Yeah. The next step is trust. 12:16 If you know your parents love you, 12:18 but then they asked you to do something 12:19 that you don't understand. 12:21 You need to be smart enough to know 12:23 that they heard your request, 12:25 and that they want the best for you, 12:27 and that they need you to trust their answer. 12:29 Yeah, that's true. 12:31 Even if you don't understand, it's the same with God. 12:35 When we fully trust Him, 12:37 we can let go and let God... 12:39 Yeah. 12:41 Put it all in His hands, 12:42 knowing that He will answer the best way 12:44 and at the best time for us. 12:47 Keep in mind, parents are also human, 12:49 and they can make mistakes, 12:51 but they do want the best for you. 12:53 Our Father God though, He's perfect, 12:56 which means you can trust that He wants the best for you 12:59 and that He hears you. 13:01 Yeah. 13:02 After all, it says it right there 13:04 in today's Bible Treasure. 13:06 Why don't we have a prayer to finish up? 13:08 Oh, that's a good idea. Okay. 13:09 Shall we bring the crew in? 13:10 Yeah, cool. Definitely. 13:12 Hey, crew, come on in, guys. Let's pray together. 13:13 Who'd like to pray for us to finish? 13:14 I'll pray. Awesome. Elizabeth will pray. 13:16 Let's bow our heads. 13:22 Dear God, thank You for this day. 13:24 Please just be with us. 13:26 And thank You that we can always listen to You. 13:29 Thank You that You listened to us. 13:31 And in Jesus' name, amen. 13:33 Amen. 13:35 Well, guys, do you want to hear the answer to the brain teaser? 13:37 Cool, the brain teaser. Yeah. 13:39 Okay, here we go. 13:41 Let's see if you guys can get this one. 13:42 This was kinda tough one I think. 13:44 I am the only organ in the human body 13:46 that gave itself its own name. 13:49 What am I? 13:50 The heart? No. 13:52 Oh, is it the brain? 13:54 The brain. 13:57 You got it. You got it. 13:58 I'm so glad you joined us today for Bible Treasures. 14:01 Don't forget to search for treasure every day. 14:06 See you next time, guys. 14:07 Come on, let's go dig. Let's go. 14:08 We got a lot of stuff to discover today. 14:10 Yeah, this is gonna be great. 14:12 Yeah. 14:13 Can you imagine if we can find something like that? |
