01:02 Silly question, dragons don't roam the earth. 01:07 I wouldn't be too sure about that. 01:09 Stay tuned to find out why 01:42 - Jesus said today is the day of salvation. 01:45 Choose him today. 01:47 But if you don't, He's reserved hell fire 01:49 and brimstone for you. 01:51 He's reserved the Lake of fire for you. 01:53 Not for just a few years not just 10,000 years, 01:56 but for an eternity. 01:57 Young lady, you need to accept Jesus Christ today. 02:00 He loves you. 02:01 But for those that don't love him, you'll burn forever. 02:04 It's time today, I say you Him. 02:07 It is time to accept the love of Jesus Christ. 02:09 If you don't, he's going to toast you for eternity. 02:11 - Jim, what are you doing? 02:13 - I'm lying to everybody. 02:14 - I know, why? 02:16 - Well, because what these hell fire brimstone preachers 02:19 are preaching isn't the truth. 02:21 It isn't God's word it. 02:22 Isn't the love of God. 02:23 Hold my Bible. 02:24 I went through and searched out a few of these quotes 02:27 from hell fire brimstone preachers, listen to this. 02:29 "What will it be like for a mother in heaven 02:31 "who sees her son burning in hell? 02:33 "She will glory in the justice of God." 02:35 Can you imagine that? 02:36 How would you as a mother feel? 02:38 - I wouldn't be glorying in anything 02:40 - Listen, love and pity for hell's occupants 02:42 will not enter our hearts. 02:44 So you're gonna see them burning forever 02:46 and it's not going to enter our hearts. 02:48 - It won't even affect us. 02:49 - Won't even affect us. 02:49 - No compassion? 02:51 - You know, Isaac Watts, listen to what he said, 02:53 " What bliss will fill the ransom souls 02:55 " when they in glory dwell to see the sinner 02:57 " as he rolls in quenchless flames of hell." 03:00 - It does not sound like bliss. 03:02 - That's not bliss at all that that's horribleness. 03:05 Here's another one. 03:06 " Therefore the elect shall go forth 03:07 " to see the torments of the impious, 03:10 "seeing which they will not be grieved, 03:12 "but will be satiated with joy at the sight 03:15 " of the unutterable calamity of the impious." 03:18 - That's ridiculous. 03:19 - Yeah, it's absolutely horrible. 03:21 The blessed will see their friends 03:23 and relations among the damned as often as they like, 03:27 but without the least of compassion. 03:31 - How can anybody believe that this God 03:34 the God of the Bible is that kind of God, 03:36 He creates you. 03:38 He lovingly fashioned you. 03:40 He comes and dies for you, that you might have eternal life 03:43 and then these preachers are saying 03:45 but God's going to toast you for eternity. 03:48 - Where did those ideas come from? 03:50 - From the devil 03:51 (dramatic music) 04:02 (exciting music) 04:13 - Introducing Talking Donkey International 04:16 God once used a donkey to spread His word, 04:19 but He'd rather use all of us. 04:21 Our experience team has preached 04:23 taught and filmed in countries around the globe. 04:27 In partnership with you, 04:28 our mission is to share the lifesaving love and hope 04:31 found only in Jesus Christ with everyone 04:33 in this lost and dying world. 04:36 Your financial partnership with Talking Donkey 04:38 will enable this exciting ministry to proclaim 04:41 that Jesus is coming soon. 04:43 It's time to prepare quality programming created to attract 04:47 and reach viewers of the world. 04:49 Together we can carry the final advent message 04:52 to the individuals of planet earth 04:54 and hasten the return of our Lord. 04:56 Please pray for and support the successful mission 04:59 of Talking Donkey International. 05:04 - Did you know that Satan is a liar? 05:07 Yes, he is a liar. 05:09 He would like you to think that he runs around 05:11 in a red suit with horns and a pitchfork 05:14 so you can easily detect him if he is near, 05:16 but that just isn't the case. 05:18 He actually is sneaky, deceptive, manipulative tricky, 05:23 and can take on many forms to deceive you. 05:26 He would also like you to believe 05:28 that God roasts people in an everlasting hell. 05:31 Well that absolutely isn't the truth 05:34 Can you imagine the God of the universe, 05:37 our Savior, our Creator taking pleasure 05:40 in roasting people in an eternal hell? 05:43 I sure can't. 05:44 Jesus loves you. 05:46 He demonstrated that love when He died on the cross for you. 05:49 The very character of God is love, compassion 05:53 and freedom of choice. 05:55 Who will you choose to believe today? 05:57 Log on to TalkingDonkeyInternational.org, 06:00 to get your free copy of "Judgment and Hell" 06:04 God may be kinder than you think. 06:06 And you will learn the true story. 06:14 - Jim, you said that the idea for an 06:17 everlasting burning hell where God is torturing sinners 06:23 for eternity, came from the devil. 06:24 And that's very true. 06:26 Most people, when they imagine the devil, 06:29 they think of that creature, red horns and all, 06:32 or something like this. 06:35 And it's true. 06:36 The Bible refers to Satan as a dragon, 06:40 but he never appears like that. 06:42 If he did we'd run screaming 06:43 because we would know that is dangerous. 06:46 And instead he cloaks himself in something 06:49 that looks perfectly harmless 06:51 and before we know it 06:53 we're listening to him 06:54 - That's right 06:55 - And his ideas are intriguing. 06:56 They start to make sense. 06:58 And some of them, we never questioned. 07:00 like would a God of love and mercy burn me in hell forever? 07:08 - Well, we've got to understand is basically 07:10 I think you said sometime a little earlier 07:13 Jesus is a dragon slayer. 07:15 That's what we need to understand. 07:16 That's where we need to flee to Him. 07:18 That's our only safety 07:20 - Because no dragon can stand up to him not even the dragon 07:31 - That dragon we just saw is quite the attraction 07:35 People driving by on the freeway can't help, but notice it. 07:39 And I've often thought 07:40 Oh, that the real dragon were that obvious. 07:45 - Oh yeah but he isn't 07:46 - No, the real dragon is not just a cute attraction. 07:49 - He really isn't. 07:51 The thing is he has such a liar, an absolute liar. 07:56 It started all the way back well, in heaven. 07:58 We'd talked about that I think in another episode 08:01 of what a liar he is. 08:02 Drew a third of the angels with him. 08:05 Gets down here to planet earth. 08:07 Matter of fact, we take it up in chapter three of Genesis. 08:10 God basically said to Adam and Eve, 08:13 look there's a little test here for you. 08:16 I need to know if you're going to be loyal to me. 08:18 It's your choice but there's a place out in the garden 08:22 that just don't go near this particular tree. 08:26 It's the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 08:28 If you see it, stay away from it. 08:30 Well, Eve wanders up toward that tree. 08:33 She sees this beautiful serpent 08:35 in the tree and this serpent speaks in a human voice. 08:38 Basically the devil had possessed this serpent. 08:42 And they start in this conversation 08:44 and the conversation goes like this. 08:47 The serpent, God had told Eve the day you eat that fruit, 08:50 you will die. 08:52 That's pretty plain, isn't it? 08:55 You're gonna die. 08:56 But then the devil says, 08:58 " And the serpent said to the woman, 09:00 "you shall not surely die " 09:04 Two choices either you're going to die 09:07 or you're not going to die. 09:09 - He says just the opposite. 09:10 In fact, he started out with a question. 09:13 Did God really say that if you ate this you'd die? 09:17 - Put just a little doubt in your mind, 09:20 - Like, wait a minute. 09:21 Is that what he said? 09:23 Which should have, it should have been obvious. 09:25 God made no bones about it. 09:28 Eat the fruit, you'll die. 09:29 Should have been the end of the story. 09:31 - Janice, maybe you can help me out to understand 09:34 where people get this. 09:35 God says, the day you eat the fruit 09:37 you're going to die, plain and simple. 09:39 You're going to die. 09:41 Now it didn't happen all at once. 09:43 It was over a timeframe. 09:45 He didn't strike them dead. 09:46 They were just over time begin to die 09:48 - But the process of death began at that moment 09:50 - Began right then. 09:51 The devil says, no, you'll surely not die. 09:54 And where do we get that in mortality of humanity, 10:00 of human beings? 10:01 Where does that come from in this text? 10:02 - Right there because he has implanted the idea 10:06 that death really doesn't exist. 10:09 It's just life in a different form. 10:13 And God said, there's this consequence. 10:16 And it's a big, bad consequence. 10:19 And we've been told that, Oh, it's not quite like that. 10:23 - I can see it as our street preaching was earlier. 10:27 Look, it's all based upon this right here. 10:29 If you don't have, if you believe the devil in this text 10:33 then, okay, maybe you could burn forever 10:36 because you just go on and on you'll never die. 10:39 But if you believe what God says, 10:41 there is no way you're gonna burn forever. 10:44 Even if that was something God said, and it isn't. 10:47 Let me give you another text here 10:49 that will shed a little more light on it. 10:51 2nd Thessalonians, it's a chapter one in verse nine. 10:56 It talks about God and punishment. 10:59 It says 11:01 " Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction 11:03 " from the presence of the Lord 11:05 " and from the glory of His power." 11:07 - I think we've latched onto the everlasting 11:09 and not the fact that it's everlasting destruction. 11:13 There's no coming back from that. 11:14 - Yeah, no, let's set it up here a little bit 11:17 because basically God says look, 11:18 I can't just go on with all this sin forever 11:21 because Adam and he blew it, 11:23 a lot of the descendants have been blowing it. 11:25 we all blow it. 11:26 But he says, I have got to put an end to this 11:28 at some time we've got to get back to the perfect heaven 11:31 that I created for you in the beginning, 11:33 we've gotta get back there. 11:34 We've got to get back to it. 11:36 Adam and Eve can be restored to Prince and princess 11:39 and all of us be restored into the Royal family. 11:42 But you can't do that 11:43 if you've got everybody else running around 11:46 sinning, not believing God, not wanting God at all 11:48 not wanting any part of the kingdom. 11:51 At some point he says, I'm just got out of love 11:53 I got to put an end to it. 11:56 So He says, here, we shall be punished 11:57 with an everlasting destruction and you just nailed it. 12:00 Everlasting destruction. 12:02 If I go out and I destroy something, 12:05 how far is it destroyed? 12:08 - And if God destroys it, it's not ever bouncing back. 12:11 - Yeah, it's everlasting. 12:13 It's sealed it's done it's final, right? 12:17 It's kind of like in scripture I think so many folks 12:23 don't take all the scriptures together. 12:24 It's kind of like, do you ever play a play with puzzles? 12:27 Maybe that's something I shouldn't ask you. 12:28 (chuckles) 12:29 - No, I love puzzles 12:30 - Yeah, we get those once in a while 12:32 for Christmas time and friends get together 12:34 and 1000 piece puzzles, 1500 piece puzzle. 12:37 What's the first thing you do/ 12:39 - Well you pour all the pieces out of the box 12:42 and then you start turning them over 12:45 so that they're all facing up. 12:46 And then I don't know what your method is, 12:48 but I'm looking 12:50 for the four corner pieces and then all the edge pieces. 12:53 And then I start filling it from there. 12:55 - Pretty soon you fill it in. 12:56 You never stop, do you? 12:58 And say nope, it's all finished. 12:59 Okay I know what this piece is over here. 13:01 And I've got a full idea of all this over here. 13:05 It doesn't happen until you've got 13:07 the whole thing completed. 13:08 And I think that's the way it is with the Bible. 13:10 If you wanna know about immortality of the soul and hell 13:15 you flip all the pieces over and begin looking 13:18 at all the pieces and fitting all the pieces together 13:21 because well, what's an old saying someone says, 13:25 and so someone committed suicide killed themselves 13:29 and another text says going ye and do likewise 13:32 - Putting two pieces together that weren't meant to fit. 13:35 - They weren't enough to fit. 13:36 You've got to fit all the other parts together with it. 13:40 - Sometimes I think people don't examine 13:44 where they've gotten the ideas that they have. 13:47 They've been passed down. 13:48 They're so common. 13:49 They're in so many religions, 13:53 it's in every cathedral, old cathedral that you go to, 13:57 you see the stained-glass pictures of the fires of hell. 14:04 And I think we just don't look at why do I believe that 14:07 and does that match going back to your puzzle analogy, 14:12 the first thing I do is prop up the picture on the box 14:15 so that I am following the there's the finished product. 14:19 So I can tell if I've gotten those together in the right 14:23 - You gave me the perfect thing 14:25 - I did? 14:26 That's a score I don't do that very often. 14:27 - You turn up the picture 14:28 What is the total picture of the Bible? 14:30 It's Jesus, right? 14:32 It's Jesus love. 14:34 And so when you flip up that picture 14:36 you start putting the puzzle together, 14:40 it's all about Jesus love. 14:41 If you get something over here that doesn't seem 14:44 like it fits with Jesus' love, then you've got to 14:47 figure out why and how it all fits better. 14:51 You were on a roll I didn't wanna interrupt, 14:52 but it was just, you said that so perfectly. 14:54 I just had to get that in because 14:56 that's really what we're doing. 14:58 We're putting a puzzle together. 15:00 It's God's love. 15:02 It's the picture of Jesus Christ who gave everything for us. 15:05 Devil said, no, no, no, no you can't believe Him. 15:09 Well, wait a second. 15:10 This is the guy that caused the sickness, 15:12 then pain and suffering and disease 15:15 and the list goes on and on. 15:16 And that's who you wanna believe. 15:19 - No, you've got to look at whatever puzzle piece 15:21 that you're examining and think, how does that 15:24 fit into the picture of who God is. 15:27 - Yeah, yeah 15:29 - Does it fit in to the picture of who God really is? 15:32 Who the rest of scripture is trying to describe to us. 15:36 And if it's not fitting, you have to toss it out. 15:39 It may have come from a different puzzle. 15:42 - There you go 15:43 - It may not go to this set 15:45 - Or it fits in a different corner of the puzzle somehow. 15:47 Let me read another one to you in Jude, 15:50 what am I looking for? 15:51 Verse seven yeah. 15:54 " Even as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities about them 15:57 " in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication 15:59 " and going after strange flesh, are set forth for 16:02 " an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire." 16:07 God didn't like what they were doing at all. 16:08 They were really messing up big time. 16:10 They weren't following anything in the normal line 16:15 of of what God says, humanity should be doing. 16:18 And He says causes fire and brimstone to rain upon them. 16:25 And what it says, it's eternal. 16:27 Now, Terry and I have filmed together, 16:30 many places of the world. 16:32 We were at Sodom and Gomorrah, the Dead Sea 16:36 guess how much fire we saw 16:38 - I'm guessing none 16:40 - Exactly, not a bit of fire. 16:43 It's eternal fire, but why would we call it eternal fire? 16:47 If it fits into the puzzle 16:48 - It is just a little bit confusing. 16:50 - Yeah, but what do you think? 16:52 If it fits into the whole puzzle 16:54 how does eternal fire fit into all of this? 16:58 - The effects were eternal, not the literal fire. 17:02 - Yeah, exactly exactly. 17:07 He burned everything up until 17:11 He didn't need to burn it anymore 17:13 - Until there was nothing left to burn. 17:14 - Just nothing left to burn, yeah. 17:16 Now I just happened to have a couple pieces 17:19 of brimstone here. 17:20 - I saw those 17:21 - I just happened to set these up early. 17:24 This one is already been burned. 17:27 It's totally been burned up. 17:28 And I don't know if it's gonna work, 17:30 but yeah go ahead grab a hold of that. 17:31 - It's gotta be safe to touch, you're doing it 17:33 - It is 17:34 and then I've got another one that hasn't been burned 17:37 and you say well, why does one already burned 17:40 and the other one isn't... 17:40 - Do I need to back up? 17:42 - Okay. 17:43 - No, I mean, literally back. 17:45 - No, no, no, 17:46 - I'm not that fond of fire. 17:47 - Lets see if I can get this thing going 17:49 - I'd make a lousy fireman. 17:52 - And like I say, this may or may not work. 17:55 I got to get a spark going on it. 17:57 There we go, let's try it again here. 18:01 But the key is, I've seen some of this burn 18:03 and there is some that was never burned up. 18:06 And you say, well, why then did burn up? 18:08 - Its smoking 18:09 - Because everything God did. 18:11 - Oh, I can smell it. 18:12 - Yeah it's sulfur 18:15 because the Bible said on Sodom and Gomorrah 18:17 it rained fire and brimstone. 18:20 This is the brimstone, fiery brimstone. 18:23 And He basically burned everything up 18:25 including everybody there who didn't listen to Him. 18:28 And let's see if it's, it's gone a little bit on the side 18:31 but it's kind of too bright out today to see it 18:35 At nighttime it really glows. 18:38 And yeah, I definitely don't wanna get in it 18:41 because the the sulfur smell is just powerful powerful 18:48 Anyway, we'll let that go. 18:50 - Where did you find brimstone? 18:51 - That's from the Dead Sea 18:54 - Really? 18:55 - Right where Sodom and Gomorrah used to be. 18:57 It was once, there no longer because 19:00 - So the eternal fire, obviously still isn't there. 19:04 So eternal cannot mean what we sometimes just assume 19:08 it means 19:09 - Exactly. 19:11 - Eternal fire you would think was still burning 19:12 and people understandably can get confused 19:17 because if you just look at one or two scriptures 19:20 of that one and then the one that talks about the wicked 19:23 and saying the smoke of their torment will rise forever 19:26 and ever you can understand how it's easy enough 19:30 once Satan plants the idea in you 19:33 that you're going, Oh yeah God will torture us forever. 19:37 - Just think about smoke. 19:39 Smoke of their torment arises forever. 19:41 That smoke is going up and up and up. 19:43 It never eradicates every molecule. 19:46 So how long does it continue? 19:48 Forever, right? 19:50 The smoke continues forever and ever. 19:52 - Now you're gonna make me think about chemistry? 19:54 - Think about it a little bit 19:55 - I was an English major. 19:57 - Anyway, I know we've kind of got to finish 19:59 we've got some other places to go and things to do. 20:01 - I think the important thing here is God's character. 20:06 That big picture. 20:08 What is this whole Bible telling us about God? 20:11 And does it fit to imagine him torturing people forever? 20:17 - Exactly, exactly. 20:19 - No, it just doesn't 20:21 I was going to say, even the Quran says 20:23 that Saddam was destroyed. 20:25 Bible says it, Quran says it. 20:27 We need to believe it, destroyed. 20:29 Not continuing on, how could a loving God, 20:32 and we're gonna be talking about this more, 20:34 but how could a loving God who came down and died for us 20:38 ever want to continue to have us burn forever? 20:41 Doesn't work. 20:43 - Even our little human brains recognize that's not fair. 20:46 - Yeah but there's much more to come here. 20:51 Hi, I'm Jim Ayer. 20:53 My good friend, Terry Cantrell and I have traveled 20:55 the world together filming from Egypt to Zanzibar 20:57 from Costa Rica to Brazil, India, and beyond. 21:01 For years, we've captured stories of uplifting 21:03 God of Heaven, stories that touch and change lives. 21:07 Now on a new adventure and you're invited 21:10 We started Talking Donkey International. 21:12 Talking Donkey is a media ministry, 21:14 dedicated to sharing Jesus Christ 21:16 in a unique and powerful way, out of the ordinary 21:20 just like a talking donkey. 21:21 Like us. 21:56 Yes he is a liar. 21:57 He would like you to think that he runs around 22:00 in a red suit with horns and a pitchfork. 22:02 So you can easily detect him if he is near, 22:05 but that just isn't the case. 22:07 He would also like you to believe 22:08 that God roasts people in an everlasting hell. 22:12 Well, that absolutely isn't the truth. 22:15 Log on to TalkingDonkeyInternational.org, 22:18 to get your free copy of " 22:20 Judgment and Hell, God May Be Kinder than You Think." 22:24 And you will learn the true story. 22:27 (somber music) 22:47 - You know Janice there was 22:48 at a gas station, maybe somewhat like this 22:50 and many more in the Washington DC area. 22:54 Some years ago, 17-year old, young man and another man 22:58 John Muhamad, they got this bright idea 23:02 that they were going to go out and kill some people. 23:05 So they cut a hole in the trunk of a car 23:08 big enough so they could have their high powered rifle 23:11 and they could lay down through the car 23:13 and they can shoot people at the gas station. 23:16 I don't know if you remember that. 23:17 - I do. 23:19 And I remember being more worried than you think 23:21 someone in California would be, but that's because my sister 23:24 and nephew lived in DC 23:27 - And I didn't live in DC at the time 23:28 but little time later and I got to tell you 23:31 when I was gassing up my car, 23:33 there were many times I thought about that. 23:35 Absolutely scary. 23:37 They ended up killing 10 people, 10 people. 23:40 And it was, I think in 2012, finally that John Muhamad 23:45 got the death sentence and was killed. 23:49 The other young man wasn't old enough at the time 23:52 of the crime so he's still alive. 23:54 But I think about that they killed 10 people. 23:59 - I think of is, we think about judgment 24:03 because all of us will be judged at some point. 24:07 But if you have bought into the eternal hell idea, 24:14 you have to think all right, 24:16 Cain the very first murderer killed one person. 24:22 So he has had 6,000 more years of punishment than this guy? 24:29 That doesn't seem fair. 24:31 You could ask a six year old 24:32 and they'd tell you that wasn't fair. 24:34 We have this innate sense where we know that isn't justice. 24:38 - Exactly 24:40 - So how can a just God get accused of something like that? 24:43 - We would say as cruel and unusual punishment 24:47 As little humans would say that. 24:49 Matter of fact, I heard some time ago 24:51 that in the death penalty 24:52 they now didn't want people to receive injections 24:55 for the death penalty because that prick in the skin 24:58 would be cruel and unusual punishment. 25:00 - And yet we think God is crueler than we are. 25:04 - Oh, far crueler. 25:05 Can you imagine 25:07 I mean, you know what we talked about earlier 25:09 about what people say the hell fire and brimstone people, 25:12 it's absolutely inconceivable 25:14 that you could believe a God who came down to this world 25:17 and laid his life out for us and took the 25:22 the chance that he would no longer be God 25:25 the way He did this whole thing to pull it off, 25:28 there was an opportunity He would no longer be God, 25:31 He would be dead for eternity. 25:33 I mean that's how much He risked 25:35 because He loves us so much. 25:37 - And would that kind of God take any kind of joy 25:40 in torturing people? 25:42 But that's not to say there isn't a judgment. 25:47 - Very true. 25:48 Matter of fact, the Bible talks about that at the end, 25:51 there is a judgment. 25:52 Everybody is gathered together at this final 25:55 From the beginning of time, everybody is there 25:59 and God has judged everybody. 26:01 Those that love him are all together with God. 26:03 Those that don't are all looking on as it were. 26:07 And finally, everybody says true and just Lord, 26:12 true and just are your judgments, 26:15 but they don't wanna change. 26:16 Their hearts are still set. 26:18 They're still against God. 26:20 And God finally it calls His strange act. 26:23 He calls fire down from heaven, reigns fire down 26:26 and destroys all the wicked for time and eternity. 26:29 Every semblance sin, every evil thing that ever 26:34 was here on planet earth, it's gone. 26:37 - There's a verse that says 26:38 that we'll even go look for the wicked 26:42 and they can't be found. 26:43 That they're burned every root and branch. 26:46 They're gone, ashes under our feet, 26:49 not burning forever and ever. 26:53 - Friends God says that He wishes we'd come to Him 26:57 because He loves us. 26:59 He's done absolutely everything 27:01 Janice, I can't even imagine anything else God could ever do 27:04 to call us to His side, to call you. 27:09 It's a lie. 27:10 It's a lie. 27:11 It's a lie that the devil says 27:12 that God is gonna burn you in hell forever. 27:15 Not gonna happen. 27:16 But God says, there will be a moment, 27:19 as Janice said here, there will be a judgment time 27:22 but who wants to be on that side? 27:23 You don't need to be. 27:25 You don't need to be on that side. 27:27 You can be on God's side, 27:29 in His loving arms for all eternity. 27:31 Matter of fact, God says, I'll let you sit 27:34 with me in my throne and rule the universe together. 27:38 That's how wonderful God is. 27:39 And I wonder Janice 27:42 I just wish we could say something else 27:43 to folks to have them accept Jesus Christ. 27:47 - He's done all the work. 27:49 All we have to do is accept it. 27:51 Say thank you, Lord. 27:53 I'm on your team and throw ourselves into His loving arms. 27:57 - That's right, throw yourself in His loving arms. 28:05 - Thanks for joining us for Country Wisdom 28:07 - See you next time. |
