00:01 Hello there, Happy Sabbath. Come on in. We're about to meet
00:06 with the King. 00:09 ¤ ¤ 00:55 Hello, I'm Auntie Nat. It's great that you could all join 00:58 us to meet with the King. We're about to open the Sabbath. Come 01:01 and join our worship time together. Auntie Cecily, it's 01:04 great that you're here with us today. 01:06 Hello Auntie Nat. 01:07 Hello children. It's great to see you here today worshipping 01:11 with us so that we can meet the King. Auntie Cecily, can you say 01:15 a prayer for us to open our worship time together. 01:17 Yes. Dear Father, we praise and thank you for bringing us safely 01:22 through another week. Thank you for the Sabbath day and for all 01:26 the children who are able to join us in worshipping you. 01:29 In Jesus' name Amen. 01:32 Amen. Do you know this is a great time to reflect on our 01:36 week and to see what God has done for us through the many 01:38 blessings he's giving us. Nick you have a blessing to tell us 01:41 about today. 01:43 Um, it was a blessing when God protected me when I fell over 01:50 and seriously injured my head. I had to stay home for a couple 01:56 of days and not go out anywhere and God just protected me 02:00 through that and I felt that was a blessing. 02:02 That's great Nick, thanks for sharing that with us. Auntie 02:05 Cecily you have something to share with us as well about the 02:09 Sabbath. 02:10 Yes. Remember last Sabbath when we spoke about preparing for the 02:15 Sabbath day. Well another thing God wants us to do is rest and 02:21 He provided a great example for us to follow. God rested on the 02:26 Sabbath. In past studies, we've looked at Genesis 2:1-3 and 02:31 Exodus 20:11 where the Bible tells us that God finished his 02:36 work in six days and on the seventh day, He rested. And he 02:41 commands us to do the same. When Jesus came to this earth He also 02:47 rested on the Sabbath as an example for us to follow. Jesus 02:51 rested on the Sabbath in life and He also rested on the 02:55 Sabbath in His death. In Luke 23:52-56 it tells us the story 03:02 of when Jesus died on the cross, which was Friday, also called 03:08 the preparation day. His friends and disciples took his body down 03:14 from the cross and laid it in a tomb. They quickly prepared the 03:20 oils and spices that they were going to embalm the body with. 03:26 Then they rested on the Sabbath. Luke 24:1-6 tells us that when 03:31 they came back on the first day of the week, which is Sunday, 03:37 to embalm his body, the tomb was empty. Two angels told them that 03:43 Jesus had risen. I think there's a very special message here for 03:49 us. Resting on the Sabbath was so important to God that even in 03:55 His death Jesus rested on the Sabbath. 03:58 Thank you Auntie Cecily. That's wonderful news. Do you know 04:02 another way to celebrate the Sabbath is to worship God in 04:07 song. Pastor Rick is here to help us do just that. Thanks 04:11 Pastor Rick. 04:12 Hi boys and girls. Let's sing that lovely old song Do Lord. 05:40 Pastor Rick, can we sing This Little Light of Mine? 05:43 We certainly can. 07:33 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's great to praise God in song. Ella, we 07:37 discovered a blessing this week at Sunnyside. Will we share that 07:41 with the children at home? Yes. Okay. Let's go have a look 07:44 at that. 07:46 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond. Welcome to the 07:55 Australian home of Mrs. Ellen White. Come with me. I've got 08:00 some stories to tell you. 08:10 You know everybody out there listening to my voice and you 08:16 children sitting here on the mat we all have somebody sitting 08:20 next to us and we forget about it. It's our angels. I'm looking 08:25 forward to the day when I meet my guardian angel. I have heard 08:31 his voice and I have heard his voice a number of times in my 08:37 life. And maybe I've seen him but I don't know. One day when 08:42 my son, who is now 42, was just a little baby, we were driving 08:47 up from Sidney on the F3 and it was late at night and as I was 08:53 driving along an angel spoke to me. It was on the right hand 08:59 side and I can still remember it. I've never forgotten. 09:03 It said what would you do if you met a car coming on the wrong 09:08 side of the F3 and you know that's impossible don't because 09:15 it's a _. I was so surprised I was looking for 09:21 the angel. Looking for the voice I slowed down and the next 09:27 second two cars came around the corner. One was a stolen car 09:32 and the other one was a police car chasing it. It missed me 09:38 by that much. I could even see the expression on the face of 09:43 the 15-year-old boy and I was afraid _ that night 09:48 but not with us. When Ellen White went by train all the way 09:52 down to Melbourne for a camp meeting and she had work to do. 09:58 But the devil was around the outside and he got into the 10:03 hearts of some boys. We would call them hoodlums or yellbows. 10:09 But she called them larrikins and those larrikins were out to cause 10:15 trouble. And they would throw in firecrackers, they would yell, 10:22 they would make noises during meetings and when they knew that 10:28 a lady called Ellen was the special speaker they laid a 10:33 plan. They said, we're going to come in, in the middle of the 10:38 night and we're going to undo the ropes on her tent. 10:43 She wasn't staying in a hotel. She was staying in a tent in the 10:47 campground. And they were very nervous and they said we're 10:51 going to go to the police. Now before when this happened Ellen 10:56 said, don't go to the police. My angels will protect me. But this 11:01 time she let them. Maybe God had told her something. They went to 11:07 the police and they brought up a police constable, a big, strong 11:12 Irishman. And he walked around all night with his big stick 11:18 watching out for the larrikins, the gangsters. And you know, 11:23 he came around the 11:24 corner one night and he saw something over Ellen's tent. 11:31 He saw a light. And he thought hah, those larrikins, they've 11:36 set fire to her tent. And he's just got his stick. He was going 11:42 to wade into them and he suddenly saw the light became 11:48 the shape of an angel. He dropped his stick. He got on his 11:53 knees. He was a Catholic, so he made the sign of the cross. 11:58 And he looked at the angel, then he ran back to the police 12:03 station. He put his stick on the bench and he said I'm not going 12:07 back there. I don't need to because Ellen has an angel 12:13 looking after her. He was so amazed and so overjoyed because 12:18 he had seen Ellen's angel, he left the police force. 12:23 He studied his Bible. He joined our church and he lived in a 12:28 little town in Victoria. And every time he stood up in church 12:34 he would tell people how he had seen Ellen's angel. And he 12:40 brought many, many people to Jesus because of what he had 12:46 seen. Have any of you ever heard your angel? I think you probably 12:53 have and you people watching and listening, when we get to heaven 12:59 it's going to be wonderful because we will meet and talk 13:03 to our angel. I'm going to spend a million years listening to all 13:08 the stories my angel will tell and you'll do the same. 13:11 God bless you. 13:15 Hello boys and girls. Happy Sabbath. Welcome to our Bible 13:17 study. If you haven't got your Bibles ready yet, go get them 13:21 now so you can follow along with us. Auntie Cecily could you 13:25 please say a prayer for us before we read the word. 13:28 Yes. Dear Father, thank you for the blessing of owning a Bible. 13:33 Please help the boys and girls understand what we read today, 13:37 in Jesus' name, Amen. 13:40 Amen. So we left the story last week after Noah and his family 13:44 went into the ark and God shut the door. Elijah, how many days 13:49 did it rain for? 13:50 Forty days and forty nights. 13:53 Forty days and forty nights. That's a long time isn't it? 13:56 That's about six weeks. Can you imagine not going out to play 13:58 for six weeks because it's rained all that time. That was 14:01 how long it rained for. Remember they'd never seen rain before so 14:06 it must have been a bit scary for them. But God took care of 14:09 them and kept them very safe. Liam, can you please read 14:14 Genesis 7:18, 20, and 23-24 for us please. 14:18 The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth and the 14:25 ark moved about on the surface of the waters. The waters 14:30 prevailed 15 cubits upward and the mountains were covered. 14:35 So He destroyed all living things which were on the face 14:41 of the ground, both men and cattle, creeping thing and bird 14:46 of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and 14:51 those who were with him in the ark remained alive. And the 14:56 waters prevailed on the earth 150 days. 15:01 Okay, so the Bible says the waters covered the earth. 15:06 There must have been a lot of water. What did we just read, 15:09 Liam? That the waters were 15 cubits above the mountains. 15:13 That's about seven and a half meters above the tallest 15:16 mountain in the world. What's our tallest mountain? 15:19 Mt. Everest. 15:21 Mt. Everest. Can you imagine the amount of water there must have 15:24 been. Seven and a half meters above that. That's a lot of 15:27 water. What was destroyed by the flood? Everything. Everything. 15:32 Only those inside the ark survived. How long did we read 15:36 the waters remained on the earth. 150 days. 150 days 15:40 which is around about five months. So for five months that 15:44 ark was tossed to and fro in the water. Let's read Genesis 8:1 15:48 because I don't think God forgot Noah. Let's read that together. 15:52 That's our memory verse. 15:53 Then God remembered Noah and every living thing, and all the 15:59 animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to 16:04 pass over the earth and then the water subsided. 16:08 Ah, God is so good. He did not forget his servant Noah. 16:11 Ella, can you please read for us Genesis 8:3-5. 16:16 And the waters receded continually from the earth 16:21 at the end of the 150 days, the waters decreased and the ark 16:26 rested in the seventh month, the 17th day of the month on the 16:32 mountains of Ararat and the waters decreased continually 16:38 until the 10th month. In the 10th month, on the first day 16:44 of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen. 16:49 Mmm. So God directed the ark to rest into some calm waters 16:54 between the mountains of Ararat and after a little while the 16:58 tops of the mountains became visible. Then Noah does 17:01 something. He goes to the top of the ark and he lifts the 17:04 covering of the ark and let's see what happens. Elijah, can 17:06 you read Genesis 8:7? 17:10 Then he sent out a raven which kept going to and fro until the 17:14 waters had dried up from the earth. 17:16 So Nick, can you please read Genesis 8:9-12 for us please. 17:20 But the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot 17:25 and she returned into the ark for him for the whole waters 17:30 were on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand 17:35 and took her and drew her into the ark to himself and he waited 17:40 yet another seven days and again he sent the dove out from the 17:46 then the dove came to him in the evening and behold a 17:49 freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth and Noah knew that 17:53 the waters had receded from the earth. So he waited again 17:57 another seven days and sent out the dove which did not return 18:01 again to him anymore. 18:03 Mmm. Thank you Nick. 18:04 Ben, can you please read Genesis 8:13-14 for us. 18:09 And it came to pass in the 601st year in the first month the 18:13 first day of the month that the waters were dried up from the 18:17 earth and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked 18:21 and indeed the surface of the ground was dry. And in the 18:25 second month on the 27th day of the month the earth was dry. 18:29 Mmm. So the water was gone. Now we read last Sabbath that 18:34 entered the ark in his 600th year in the second month and now 18:39 we've just read that Noah's 601st year in the second month 18:44 was when the waters dried up. So how long were they in the 18:48 ark for? About a year, 600 and 601. That was a long time 18:53 wasn't it? 18:54 Imagine being in the ark with all those animals. Would have 18:56 have been a bit of a floating zoo. Do think it might have been 19:00 a bit smelly in there. Yeah. It probably was. There was a very 19:04 interesting environment. Now when that water had dried up 19:07 do you think Noah just rushed out of the ark or do you think 19:12 he waited? Waited. He waited. He waited on God for the angel 19:16 to come down and open the door. Aunt Cecily, could you please 19:20 read Genesis 8:15-17 for us please. 19:24 And God spoke to Noah saying come out of the ark, you and 19:30 your wife and your sons and you sons' wives with you. Bring out 19:35 with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you, 19:40 birds, and cattle and every creeping thing that creeps on 19:45 the earth so that they may abound on the earth and be 19:49 fruitful and multiply on the earth. 19:52 Okay, Sarah let's see what Noah does next. Let's read 19:56 Genesis 8:20. 19:58 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and took of every clean 20:02 animal and every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the 20:06 altar. 20:08 Let's look at our Torch Light, Mrs. White's writings and see 20:11 what the light shines on that verse for us. Liam, you're going 20:14 to do that for us today. Thank you. 20:21 They released Noah. In the joy of their release Noah did not 20:26 forget Him by whose gracious care they had been preserved. 20:31 His first act after leaving the ark was to build an altar and 20:37 offer from every kind of clean beast and fowl a sacrifice, thus 20:43 manifesting his gratitude to God for deliverance and his faith in 20:49 Christ, the great sacrifice. 20:52 Mmm. So that's why Noah was told by God that there had to be how 20:58 many of the animals. There were two animals and there were seven 21:04 animals. They had to take seven clean animals so there were 21:07 enough animals to offer a sacrifice. Was Noah obedient and 21:10 faithful? Yeah. He was. Where have we read in the Bible of 21:13 someone who did not want to give the proper sacrifice. Cain. Cain 21:19 That's right. By giving an animal sacrifice, it is required 21:23 the shedding of blood which pointed to that Christ was going 21:28 to come and shed blood for our sins. Ella, you're going to read 21:34 Genesis 9:13-15. 21:35 I set my rainbow in the clouds and it shall be for the sign of 21:38 the covenant between me and the earth. It shall be when I 21:41 bring a cloud over the earth that the rainbow shall be 21:44 seen in the 21:46 cloud and I will remember my covenant which is between me and 21:49 you and every living creature of all flesh. The waters shall 21:54 never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 21:58 Mmm. What an amazing promise. So every time you see a rainbow 22:03 in the sky after it rains that you know that God promises 22:07 never to flood the whole earth again with a flood. That's being 22:12 put there as a reminder that we remember the story of Noah and 22:17 how faithful and obedient Noah was. Thank you boys and girls 22:21 for joining us today in reading the Bible. It was lovely to have 22:25 you along. Always remember that just like Noah, God will never 22:29 forget you. If you ask him to, God will protect you through the 22:33 storms of life just like He protected Noah and his family 22:36 in the flood. Next Sabbath we are going to study about another 22:41 man in the Bible who was also faithful and obedient. 22:47 When we keep the Sabbath we get to know God better and 22:52 realize how much he wants to build a relationship with us. 22:56 One way to strengthen our walk with the Lord is to read and 23:01 study our Bibles. The Bible is filled with examples of how God 23:05 the Father and Jesus the Son worked together as one and 23:11 showed us how to live our lives. We want to encourage you to read 23:16 your Bibles, not only on the Sabbath day, but every day. 23:20 Auntie Nat, would you like to tell the boys and girls about 23:23 our devotional? Yes. That's related to our study this 23:26 this morning? 23:28 Yes, I'm happy to do that. Yes we have a seven day devotional 23:31 study available on Noah and the Flood, part 2. We studied this 23:36 together in our Bible study. It's a devotional that expands 23:40 on what we learnt today. You can 23:42 download it for free and print it from our web site which is 23:45 www.adaywiththeking.com. This will help you to read your 23:49 Bibles every day and to spend time getting to know God. Auntie 23:52 Cecily shall we read our memory verse that we learnt today in 23:56 our study? Yes. 23:57 Are you ready to say it all together children? 24:00 Genesis 8:1 Then God remembered Noah and every living thing and 24:08 all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a 24:16 wind to pass over the earth and the waters subsided. 24:21 Auntie Nat, are you ready to sing our blessing song to the 24:24 children? 24:25 Yes, let's just do that. 24:27 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill your heart with love¤ 24:42 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤ 24:52 ¤And Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤ 25:02 ¤The day that the King of Glory has sanctified and blessed¤ 25:11 ¤Good bye my friend till we meet again¤ 25:17 ¤For another day with the King¤ 25:23 Bye. Good bye. See you next Sabbath. 25:28 ¤ ¤ |
