00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath. Come on in. We're about to meet with
00:06 the King. 00:07 ¤ ¤ 00:53 Hi I'm Auntie Nat. It's great that you could all join us to 00:56 meet with the King. We're about to open the Sabbath. Come and 01:00 join our worship time together. Hello Auntie Cecily. Welcome to 01:04 our worship time today. 01:05 Hello Auntie Nat. 01:06 Hello children. Welcome to our worship today. I'm glad you've 01:10 come here to meet the King. Auntie Cecily, could you please 01:15 say a prayer for us before we have our worship. 01:18 Yes. Dear heavenly Father. Thank you for our safe keeping during 01:22 the week. And thank you that we can enjoy the rest on your 01:27 Sabbath day. In Jesus' name Amen 01:30 Amen. Do you know that this is a great time to reflect on our 01:35 week and thank God for the many blessings He's brought us. Sarah 01:40 you've got a blessing to share with us today. 01:42 My grandpa had a pacemaker put into his heart and it was 01:46 successfully installed. He was 86 at the time so I praise God 01:50 for waking him up from the surgery. 01:52 That's great, Sarah. Thanks for sharing that with us. Auntie 01:55 Cecily, you have something to share with us too. Something 01:58 about the Sabbath. 01:59 Yes. Last Sabbath we talked about rest. God rested as an 02:05 example for us and he commands us to rest as well. God wants us 02:10 to keep the Sabbath holy. In Nehemiah 13:15-22 the Bible 02:17 tells us not to do any business work or school work and not to 02:22 buy and sell on the Sabbath. He wants us to spend the day with 02:27 Him and leave the cares and burdens of the world for that 02:31 day. He wants our minds focused on Him. God in His holy wisdom 02:36 knows that for our health and well being resting with Him on 02:42 the Sabbath is very good for us. God, the master creator, knows 02:47 our bodies inside out and upside down. He knows our bodies and 02:52 minds are at their best when we rest on the blessed seventh day 02:57 Sabbath. 02:58 Amen. Thank you Auntie Cecily. God's so good. Do you know 03:02 another way we can worship God on the Sabbath is to worship Him 03:06 in song. Pastor Rick has joined us. Thanks Pastor Rick. 03:11 Hello boys and girls. Let's sing This Is the Day. 03:46 Let's do it again. 04:17 Pastor Rick, could we please sing Give Me Oil In My Lamp? 04:20 Oh, why not? Who knows it? 05:37 Pastor Rick, can we sing Make Me Like You? 05:40 Ah, yes 06:53 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's great to praise God in song. Now 06:57 Elijah, we discovered a blessing at Sunnyside this week. Will we 07:00 share that with the children at home? Yes. Okay let's have a 07:03 look at that. 07:09 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond. Welcome to the 07:14 Australian home of Mrs. Ellen White. Come with me. I've 07:18 got some stories to tell you. 07:24 You know what my favorite meal of the week is Sabbath lunch 07:32 because my wife, she makes a special lunch and a nice dessert 07:39 and Ellen used to do the same thing. And on this particular 07:45 Sabbath she made a beautiful rice pudding. And when they were 07:52 ready for it, they went out to the kitchen and the rice pudding 07:59 was gone. Not just the rice pudding; the dish, the cutlery 08:07 the table cloth. Everything in the kitchen was stolen. Ellen 08:13 was so upset. She went to the police and she said what's going 08:19 on? And the policeman's name was Sgt. Berry. He said oh Ellen we 08:25 have some naughty people here. Many years ago three families 08:30 who were ex-convicts lived just over the hill there at 08:34 Martinsville and the families would grow and there were 250 08:40 of them and they are all thieves and they will take anything that 08:46 is not too hot or too heavy. And we advise you to get a 08:54 watch dog. Oh, okay. She got a watch dog with the fiercest name 09:00 it was named after a very fierce Persian king thousands of years 09:06 ago. And the king's name was Tiglath-pilezer. I think they 09:14 called the dog Tig, well Tig turned up. He had the most ferocious 09:21 bark. Now I want you all together to give me the most 09:26 ferocious bark you can. One, two three, BARK. Huh! That would 09:34 scare the 250 people out over the mountains. Tiglath had an 09:40 awful bark, (bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark). And they 09:45 tied him up by the fence just over there. But you know what? 09:51 He had a big bark but whenever somebody came, he'd wag his 09:55 tail. They didn't know what to do with the thieves. And Ellen 10:01 came up with a plan. She said we won't scare them away, we 10:06 will draw them with love and we will change them. How you going 10:11 to do that? There was a sickness we call it an epidemic and it 10:14 went right through the district and there were people who were 10:19 so sick. And every day she would go to a house, and she would 10:24 bring food, or she would wash the baby or she would ask them 10:29 if they had enough medicine. And she went right over into the 10:34 area where the 250 thieving people who were descendants 10:40 of the convicts were living and you know one by one she won them 10:46 over. She took them food and Tiglath, he was such a friendly 10:54 dog, I'll show you his picture. Here he is. He actually got a 11:01 whole page in the autograph book: Greetings from 11:08 Tiglath-pilezer and he had a chain and he was so strong I 11:11 he wanted to say hello to people he pulled it off. See the kennel 11:16 is tilted over. He never hurt anybody but let me tell you 11:20 about the people. They stopped swearing, they stopped drinking, 11:27 they stopped smoking, they accepted Jesus and one by one 11:32 they changed their lives and if Ellen White had a really fierce 11:38 dog that bit people and chased them, they would never have been 11:44 won to Jesus. She loved animals and she loved people and 11:49 gradually they joined the church and you know what. After one 11:56 year nobody ever, ever stole anything from Ellen's house. 12:03 Don't you think that's the best way? Win them with kindness. 12:09 Have you seen people do that who are kind when other people 12:15 are cruel to them. This is what Ellen did. She won them over by 12:21 being kind and Tiglath whose name was Tig was a happy dog but 12:27 he never bit anybody. Thank you. 12:30 Hi boys and girls. Happy Sabbath Welcome back to our Bible study. 12:34 I hope you know now to have your Bibles ready so you can read 12:37 along with us. Auntie Cecily could you please say a prayer 12:40 before we open the word. 12:42 Yes. Dear Lord, thank you for this time that we can spend with 12:46 you. Please be with the boys and girls as they read their Bibles 12:51 and touch their hearts. In Jesus' name, Amen. 12:54 Amen. Now last Sabbath we studied about a very faithful, 12:59 obedient man. Kate, who was that man? Noah. It was Noah. We 13:04 are going to study about a another man who was very 13:06 faithful and obedient and his name was Abraham. Now it's been 13:11 about 400 years since the flood and Abraham's about 75 years 13:15 old. Let's read about that. Liam, can you please read 13:19 Genesis 12:1-3. 13:21 Now the Lord had said to Abram get out of your country from 13:26 your family and from your father's house to a land that I 13:31 will show you. I will make you a great nation. I will bless you 13:36 and make your name great and you shall be a blessing. I will 13:41 bless those who bless you and I will curse him who curses you 13:46 and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. 13:51 Thanks Liam. So God asked him to leave his country and his family 13:57 Do you think that would have been hard to leave your family? 13:59 Yes but Abraham loved God. Let's see who went with him? 14:04 Ella, can you please read Genesis 12:4-5. 14:08 Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him and Lot went with 14:13 him. And Abram was 75 years old when he departed from Haran. 14:19 And Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother's son and 14:25 all their possessions which they had gathered, the people whom 14:31 they had acquired in Haran and they departed from there to the 14:37 land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan. 14:39 Okay, so who went with Abram? His wife Sarai and his nephew 14:45 Lot and lots of their helpers and workers. Let's go to our 14:49 faith chapter Auntie Cecily and read Hebrews 11:8 and see what 14:54 that says. 14:56 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the 15:01 place which he would receive as an inheritance and he went out 15:07 not knowing where he was going. 15:11 Okay, we're going to look at our Torch Light now, Mrs. White's 15:15 writings to see what that sheds on verse. Thanks Nick, you're 15:19 going to read that for us today. 15:22 Abraham's unquestioning 15:24 obedience is one of the most striking evidences of faith to 15:28 be found in all the Bible. 15:30 Wow, so that tells us that Abram was a very obedient and faithful 15:37 man. I wonder why God asked him to leave his home? I think 15:41 it might have been because they were worshipping a lot of idols 15:46 Abraham loved God and God loved Abraham and he asked Abraham to 15:50 a land where they wouldn't be influenced by all the idols 15:53 because they had to preserve a line from which Jesus would be 15:58 born into. Okay. So Abraham and Sarah had no children which 16:02 means Sarah was barren. She couldn't have a baby. Remember 16:07 in Genesis 12:2 that God promised that he would bless 16:11 Abraham and make him a great nation. So Abraham was troubled 16:16 Let's read what God had promised him again. Let's read 16:19 Genesis 15:5. Elijah can you read that for us please. 16:22 Then he brought him outside and said, look now toward heaven and 16:28 count the stars if you are able to number them. And He said to 16:34 him so shall your descendants be. 16:37 Mmm. So that was a great promise God was making to Abraham. But 16:42 do you know what? Abraham and Sarah were human like you and me 16:47 and they were getting old and they were having doubts and 16:50 thoughts. And they thought how can God bless us and make us a 16:53 great nation like all the stars in the sky if we have no 16:58 children. Let's read and see what happens next. Kate, can you 17:00 please read Genesis 16:2-3. 17:05 So Sarai said to Abram, see now the Lord has restrained me from 17:11 bearing children. Please go in to my maid. Perhaps I shall 17:17 obtain children by her. And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. 17:22 And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian and 17:28 gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had 17:33 dwelt 10 years in the land of Canaan. 17:36 Mmm. Oh dear. Did Sarah and Abraham take matters into their 17:40 own hands? I think they did. They weren't patient and they 17:43 didn't wait on God. Are you supposed to have two wives? 17:48 No. No. Hagar gave him a son, Ishmael and if we were to 17:52 continue to read, it caused no end of trouble. There was 17:55 jealousy and there were arguments and heartaches in the 17:59 household. Do you think that's what God want's for us. No. I 18:02 think Abraham and Sarah learnt their lesson the hard way. Again 18:06 God comes to Abraham and promises him to make him a 18:10 father of many nations. We can find out in the first part of 18:15 chapter 17. So God still loved Abraham. Okay, let's read 18:20 chapter 17, Genesis 17:17,19. God has something to say to 18:25 Abraham. Ben, you're going to read that for us. 18:27 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said in his 18:33 heart, shall a child be born to a man who is 100 years old and 18:39 shall Sarah, who is 90 years old, bear a child? Then God said 18:46 Sarah your wife shall bear you a son and you shall call his name 18:52 Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him for an 18:55 everlasting covenant and with his descendants after him. 18:59 Mmm. So did that happen. It did. And we can read that in chapter 19:03 21. Nick, you're going to read that for us. We're looking at 19:09 Genesis 21:1-3. Might have to go over a few pages in our Bible 19:14 now. 19:17 And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said and the Lord did 19:20 for Sarah as He had 19:22 spoken. So Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old 19:27 age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And 19:32 Abraham called the name of his son, whom Sarah bore to him, 19:36 Isaac. 19:38 Mmm. So did God keep his promise? He did didn't He. 19:40 Even though Abraham were very old to have children God did it 19:44 in His own timing. Nothing is impossible with God. We're going 19:47 read that in our memory verse. Let's look at that in Luke 1:37. 19:51 We're going to read that together. You got that. Okay 19:57 let's read that together. 19:59 For with God nothing will be impossible. 20:03 Okay, so to finish our story about Abraham, something 20:07 happened. Let's have a look at that, Ben, in Genesis 22:1-2. 20:14 Can you read that for us? 20:21 Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham 20:25 and said to him, and he said here I am. Then he said take 20:30 now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to 20:34 the land of Moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering 20:39 on one of the mountains on which I shall tell you. 20:41 Mmm. So what's happening here. God's testing Abraham. Have we 20:45 studied up before about how God tests people. It happened in the 20:49 garden of Eden and it happened with Cain and Abel didn't it? 20:53 Let's see if Abraham passes the test. Auntie Cecily can you 20:57 please read Genesis 22:3 and then 9-13 for us. 21:03 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey 21:09 and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son. And 21:14 split the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to 21:20 the place of which God had told him. (And continuing on at verse 21:24 nine). Then they came to the place of which God had told him 21:30 and Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order. 21:35 And he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar upon the 21:41 wood and Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to 21:46 slay his son. But the angel of the Lord called to him from 21:52 heaven and said, Abraham, Abraham. So he said, here I am. 21:57 He said do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him 22:03 for now I know that you fear God since you have not withheld your 22:08 son, your only son, from Me. And Abraham lifted his eyes and 22:14 looked and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its 22:19 horns. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a 22:25 burnt offering instead of his son. 22:28 Did Abraham pass the test? YES. He did. Praise the Lord! Do you 22:33 know what? In James 2:23, the Bible tells us that Abraham was 22:38 called a friend of God. Thank you boys and girls for joining 22:42 us in reading the Bible. Would you like to be a friend of God? 22:46 Well you can be. Just ask Him. Claim that verse we talked about 22:50 in James 2:23 over your life. God loves us so much that he 22:57 longs for us to be his friends and to have a close relationship 23:00 with him. Next Sabbath we are going to study about how through 23:03 prayer a very special person was found for Isaac. 23:07 When we keep the Sabbath we get to know God better and realize 23:12 how much He wants to build a relationship with us. You can be 23:17 a friend of God just like Abraham. One way to 23:21 strengthen your friendship with the Lord is to study your Bibles. 23:25 We want to encourage you to read your Bibles, not only on the 23:28 Sabbath day but every day. Auntie Nat would you tell us 23:32 about the devotional that relates to our study today. 23:36 Sure. Yes, we have a seven-day devotional study available on 23:40 Abraham and Sarah, the subject we studied together today. This 23:44 devotional expands on what we have learnt. You can download 23:48 and print it free from our website which is 23:51 www.adaywiththeking.com. This will help you to read your Bible 23:53 every day and to spend time getting to know God. Auntie 23:56 Cecily, shall we go over our memory verse that we studied 23:59 today. 24:00 Yes let's do that. Children are you ready to read it through? 24:03 Luke 1:37 For with God nothing will be impossible. 24:09 Auntie Nat you ready to sing our blessing song to the children? 24:13 Sure, let's do that. 24:16 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill your heart with love¤ 24:28 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤ 24:39 ¤And Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤ 24:50 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed¤ 25:00 ¤Good bye my friends till we meet again¤ 25:05 ¤For another day with the king¤ 25:10 Bye, Happy Sabbath. 25:14 ¤ ¤ |
