00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath. Come on in. We're about to meet with
00:06 the King. 00:08 ¤ ¤ 00:54 Hello, I'm Auntie Nat. It's great that you could all join 00:56 us to meet with the King. We're about to open the Sabbath. Come 00:59 and join our worship time 01:01 together. Hello Auntie Cecily. Welcome to our worship time. 01:04 Hello Auntie Nat. 01:06 And hello children. Welcome to our worship time. It's great 01:09 that you could come here to meet the King. Auntie Cecily would 01:12 you like to say a prayer for us so that we can open our worship 01:15 time together. 01:16 Yes. Dear Lord, thank you for taking care of us during the 01:20 week and thank you for bringing us safely to another Sabbath 01:24 day. We're grateful that we are all here together to worship you 01:29 In Jesus' name, Amen. 01:31 Amen. Do you know this is a great time to reflect on our 01:35 blessings that God has sent us this week. Jameeka can you have 01:38 a blessing to tell us? 01:40 God blessed me this week by giving me an opportunity to 01:45 meet my friend _ and he wants to come to church. 01:52 That's great Jameeka. Thanks for sharing that with us. Auntie 01:55 Cecily you're going to share something with us as well 01:58 about the Sabbath. 02:00 Yes. The last two Sabbaths we've talked about resting on the 02:04 Sabbath. Today I want to talk to you about what we can do on the 02:08 Sabbath. In the Bible, Jesus gave an example for us to follow 02:14 Mark 1:24 and Luke 4:16 in the New Testament tell us that Jesus 02:19 went to church on the Sabbath day or in the time of Jesus it 02:24 was called the synagogue. God wants us to fellowship with 02:29 other people who worship on the Sabbath. Here we can worship God 02:34 together through singing and praying as well as learning from 02:39 the teaching of the Bible and sharing the goodness of our God 02:44 with others. God realizes that it is important for us to have 02:49 the companionship of others of like faith. As we learn to 02:53 worship with others, it strengthens our love for others. 02:57 That helps us to grow closer to God. 03:00 Thank you, Auntie Cecily. God is so good. Do you know another way 03:04 we can worship God is through song. We have Pastor Rick here 03:08 today to help us. Thanks Pastor Rick. 03:10 Hello boys and girls. We're 03:12 going to sing My Sabbaths You Shall Keep. 04:14 Pastor Rick can we please sing Rejoice in the Lord Always? 04:18 Absolutely. Ready? 04:59 Pastor Rick, can we please sing In His Time? 05:08 Yes. How many of us know it? All of us? 06:25 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's great to praise God in song. Sarah, 06:29 we discovered a blessing at Sunnyside this week. Will we 06:33 show the children at home about that? Yes. Okay let's go have a 06:37 look at it. 06:41 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond. Welcome to the 06:47 Australian home of Mrs. Ellen White. Come with me. I've got 06:52 some stories to tell you. 06:58 This building, Sunnyside, where we're sitting was built over 100 07:06 years ago. Let me tell you something about this house. 07:11 It has the hardest timber you have ever seen and I know 07:16 because I bought a house here in Cooranbong built about the 07:21 same time. And I've brought along a piece of wood. This wood 07:27 is so hard that if I put it in water, it sinks. And when I had 07:33 to do some renovations, and I had to hammer a nail in, I had 07:38 to drill it before the nail would go in or dip the tip in 07:45 oil and then put it in. Very hard work. And Mr. Conley was 07:52 one of the builders and he had a little bit of a problem and 07:57 that was a problem that some builders have. If something went 08:02 wrong he would, excuse me, swear. Why would he swear? 08:09 Well if I'm hammering a nail and I'm holding the nail and I've 08:16 got a hammer and I hit it hard and it slides off and gets me on 08:23 the finger, that was Mr. Conley's problem and the other 08:27 problem was he was around the corner when Mrs. White wasn't 08:33 watching after he hit his thumb and he would take something out 08:38 of his pocket, put it in his mouth and set it on fire. 08:44 What was it? A cigarette. Exactly, a cigarette. Mrs. White 08:49 wasn't very happy and Mr. Conley was trying hard to give 08:55 up smoking and swearing. Well one night there was a terrific 09:00 storm here, blowing the tops off the trees, shaking the house, 09:06 rain almost coming in sideways. And next morning Ellen woke up 09:11 at 3 o'clock. Because of all the noise she hadn't slept. And she 09:17 started to write and just as it got daylight she said to Sarah, 09:23 her helper. Saddle up the horse, a baby was born last night and 09:29 we're going to go on a visit. And she knew the baby was 09:34 Mr. Conley's baby. And off they went, over the road, down the 09:38 hill, up towards Mountainsville until they came to the farm. 09:42 It took a long, long time to get in there with water on the road, 09:47 branches on the road, branches everywhere. And they went up to 09:51 the house and knocked on the door. There was a little girl, 09:57 same age as you, same as your name, her name was Sarah and she 10:03 opened the door. She was a bit worried. Ah, has daddy been 10:08 swearing? Is he going to hit the sack? We need this work. Oh, 10:13 maybe he was smoking and he set fire to Sunnyside. But instead 10:18 of that Ellen went in and she said I think a baby was born 10:24 here last night. They said yes. Can I see the baby? She went 10:28 into the room where Mommy was and they couldn't see the baby. 10:33 They pulled back the blanket and there was a little wrinkly-faced 10:40 baby. And its name was John, which is my name. And Ellen said 10:45 I would love to hold the baby. Can I hold the baby. And she 10:50 held the baby. Ellen was getting old. She had a wrinkly face. The 10:53 baby had a wrinkly face and she she put the soft face and she 10:58 held him. Then she said, can I say a prayer? And you know they 11:02 weren't even Christians. But they said please yes pray. 11:07 And she prayed for this baby. But before she gave little John 11:13 back to his mommy she held him up and she said, this baby, look 11:19 after him. He's going to grow and he's going to be a mighty 11:25 worker for God. And he was. He lived for many, many years. He 11:31 became a mighty preacher and when he died, he was 87 years 11:36 old and they put a big rock on his grave from the place where 11:40 he was born. If you go up to the cemetery one of the first graves 11:46 you see is Pastor J. B. Conley. And he became a mighty man for 11:52 God. Ellen White held him up and blessed him in the name of God. 11:57 What a wonderful life he lived and his daddy gave up smoking 12:02 and swearing and became a great worker for God as well. 12:07 Good day boys and girls. Happy Sabbath. Welcome to our Bible 12:10 study. I hope you have your Bibles ready so you can read 12:13 along with us. Auntie Cecily can you please say a prayer for us 12:17 before we read the word. 12:19 Yes. Dear Father, thank You for Your word and thank You for 12:23 your promises. Please help the girls and boys at home and with 12:27 us here to understand what we read. In Jesus' name Amen. 12:31 Amen. Ella what did we study about last Sabbath. 12:34 We studied Abraham and Sarah. 12:36 Mmm. And did God keep His promise? Yes he did. And was 12:39 Abraham faithful? Yes. Yes, and what happened? 12:42 Abraham and Sarah had a son. 12:45 Mmm. And what was his name? Isaac. Isaac and we're going to 12:49 to study about that in the Bible how God provided a very special 12:52 wife for Isaac. So, Liam, can you please read for us 12:56 Genesis 24:2-4. 13:01 So Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house who ruled 13:07 over all that he had, please put your hand under my thigh and I 13:12 will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of 13:16 the earth that you will not take a wife for my son from the 13:23 daughters of the Canaanites among whom I dwell. But you 13:29 shall go to my country and to my family and take a wife for my 13:34 son Isaac. 13:36 Mmm. So Abraham didn't want a Canaanite woman for his son 13:40 Isaac and the reason being is because they worshipped idols. 13:43 Do we worship idols? No. No we worship the one and true God 13:47 and that's what he wanted his servant to do. Okay, Ella you're 13:51 going to read for us Genesis 24:7. 13:56 The Lord God of heaven who took me from my father's house and 14:00 from the land of my family and who spoke to me and swore to 14:05 me saying, to your descendants I give this land. He will send 14:09 his angel before you and you shall take a wife for my son 14:14 from there. 14:16 Mmm. So Abraham is repeating a promise to his servant that God 14:20 gave him that he will have many descendants and an angel will go 14:24 before him and help him find a wife, because the servant was a 14:27 little bit worried about that. But Abraham was just reassuring 14:31 him that everything was okay. Now Elijah you've got a very 14:34 special reading for from our Torch Light, Mrs. White's 14:38 readings that's going to explain that a little bit more. Can you 14:41 read that for us. 14:44 If there is any subject which should be carefully considered 14:53 and in which the counsel of older and more experienced 14:57 persons should be sought it is the subject of marriage. If ever 15:01 the Bible was needed as a counselor, if ever divine 15:04 guidance should be sought in prayer it is before taking a 15:07 step that binds persons together for life. 15:11 Mmm. So Isaac trusted his father Abraham with the godly wisdom 15:16 that he had that he was going to find the right wife for Isaac 15:21 Elijah, you're going to read for us Genesis 24:10 as well 15:25 thank you. 15:28 Then the servant took 10 of his master's camels and departed for 15:31 all his master's goods were in his hand. And he arose and went 15:35 to Mesopotamia to the city of Nahor. 15:39 Okay, Mesopotamia. Now that was a long way away and Abraham's 15:43 servant took all those camels with him to go get the special 15:47 person that God had for him for Isaac. Now Kate, can you please 15:52 read Genesis 24:12-14 please. 15:55 Then he said, O Lord of my master Abraham, please give me 16:00 success this day and show kindness to my master Abraham. 16:05 Behold here I stand by the well of water and behold the 16:09 daughters of men of the city are coming to draw water. Now let it 16:15 that the young woman who to whom I say please let down your 16:21 pitcher and may I drink and she said drink and I will also give 16:26 your camels a drink, let her be the one you have appointed for 16:31 your servant Isaac. And by this I'll know that you have shown 16:36 kindness to my master. 16:38 Mmm. So Abraham's servant prays to God to show him the right 16:42 wife. Let's read the next verse Auntie Cecily to see whether God 16:47 answered his prayer. That's in Genesis 24:15, 17-19. 16:52 And it happened before he had finished speaking that behold 16:57 Rebekah who was born to Bethuel son of Milcah the wife of Nahor 17:02 Abraham's brother came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. 17:08 Verse 17. And the servant ran to meet her and said, please let 17:13 me drink a little water from your pitcher. So she said, drink 17:18 my lord. Then she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand and 17:23 gave him a drink. And when she finished giving him a drink she 17:27 said, I will draw water for your camels also until they have 17:32 finished drinking. 17:34 Wow, so did God answer Abraham's servant's prayer. Yes. He did 17:38 straight away. God's so good. He led him straight to the 17:42 family. Ben can you please read Genesis 24:26-27 to see what 17:47 happens next. 17:48 Then the man bowed down his head and worshipped the Lord. And he 17:52 said, Blessed by the Lord God of my master Abraham. He has not 17:56 forsaken his mercy and his truth toward my master. As for me 18:00 being on the way the Lord led me to the house of my master's 18:05 brethren. 18:07 Good. So Abraham's servant what does he do? He bows down and 18:10 worships God because he's so grateful that God answered his 18:14 prayer. Isn't that great. Okay. So Abraham's servant with God's 18:18 help found Isaac's wife. He took Rebekah back to Isaac. Let's 18:24 find out what happens to Rebekah. Sarah, you're going to 18:27 read Genesis 25:20-21 please. 18:31 Isaac was 40 years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the 18:36 daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Paddan-aram the sister of 18:40 Laban the Syrian. Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his 18:45 wife because she was barren and the Lord granted his plea 18:49 and Rebekah his wife conceived. 18:51 Right. So this is becoming a pretty familiar story isn't it 18:55 about these women not being able to have babies. So Isaac prayed 18:59 to God and He answered Isaac's prayer and Rebekah finally 19:03 became pregnant. But something happened. Liam you're going to 19:07 read for us Genesis 25:22 please 19:09 But the children struggled together within her and she said 19:16 if this is so why am I like this So she went to inquire of the 19:23 Lord. 19:24 Mmm. So her baby was moving so much in her womb she was getting 19:27 a bit worried. She thought she better go pray to God about it 19:30 and ask him what's going on. So Ella, you've got that next verse 19:34 Genesis 25:23. Let's see what God tells us. 19:37 And the Lord said to her, two nations are in your womb, two 19:42 people shall be separated from your body. One people shall be 19:46 stronger than the other and the older shall serve the younger. 19:51 Mmm. So basically God was telling Rebekah that she was 19:55 two twins. Yeah, she was having two babies and that's why there 20:00 was so much movement in her tummy. But something else that 20:04 God told her that was a bit strange. The older would serve 20:09 the younger. Yes okay. Well let's see what happens. Elijah 20:13 can you please read for us Genesis 25:24-26. 20:18 So when the days were fulfilled for her to give birth indeed 20:22 there were twins in her womb and the first came out red. 20:26 He was like a hairy garment all over. So they called his name 20:31 Esau. Mmm. Afterwards his brother came out and his hand 20:34 took hold of Esau's heel. So his name was called Jacob. Isaac was 20:39 60 years old when she bore him. 20:42 Right. So who's the oldest? Who came out first? Esau. And who 20:47 second? Jacob. Jacob, that's right. okay. Let see what 20:49 happens with the boys. Kate can you read Genesis 25:27-28 please 20:55 So the boys grew, and Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the 21:01 field. But Jacob was a mild man dwelling in tents and Isaac 21:06 loved Esau because he ate his game but Rebekah loved Jacob. 21:12 Mmm. So we've had two very different boys here. One liked 21:17 to run free all over the country and the other one loved to hear 21:21 the stories of God. Now if we look at our story today, it's 21:25 all about prayer isn't it and how God answered prayer. 21:29 He answered Isaac's servant's prayer, He answered Rebekah's 21:33 prayer, so God is good. Okay let's quickly go to 21:37 Jeremiah 33:3, our memory verse, and let's read that together. 21:45 You ready? Yeah. 21:49 Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty 21:55 things which you do not know. 21:57 What a great promise. Thanks boys and girls for joining us 22:01 today in reading our Bibles. I hope you have learnt how much 22:05 God loves to answer our prayers. He cares for you so much. Next 22:09 Sabbath we are going to read what happens to these two 22:13 brothers and how a lie can get us into a lot of trouble. 22:17 We've just studied in the Bible about how important prayer is. 22:22 The Bible is filled with stories of how God answers prayer. 22:26 By reading these stories it strengthens our faith in prayer 22:31 and builds our relationship with Jesus. Because of this we want 22:35 to encourage you to read your Bibles not only on the Sabbath 22:39 day but every day. Auntie Nat, would you tell us about the 22:43 devotional that relates to our study today? 22:45 Sure. We have a seven-day devotional study available 22:48 on Isaac and Rebekah, the subject we just studied together 22:52 This devotional expands on what we learnt.
