00:01 Hello there, Happy Sabbath, Come on in. We're about to meet with
00:05 the king. 00:07 ¤ ¤ 00:52 Hello, I'm Auntie Nat. It's great you could all join us to 00:55 meet with the King. We're about to open the Sabbath. Come and 00:58 join our worship time together. 01:00 Auntie Cecily how are you doing? 01:02 Very well, thank you Auntie Nat. 01:04 That's great to have you with us. And hi children. It's great 01:08 that you're here with us today to worship the King. And hello 01:11 Teddie. It's great that you're here as well. Auntie Cecily, 01:14 would you like to say a prayer for us please. 01:17 Dear Lord, thank you for keeping us safe through another week. 01:21 We pray that you would bless all the boys and girls who have 01:26 joined us to worship you this Sabbath. In Jesus' name, Amen. 01:31 Amen. Do you know that this is a great time to reflect on our 01:35 week and count the blessings that God has sent us. Chikkita 01:39 you've got a little blessing for us haven't you? 01:41 Well out friends took our family sailing across the lake 01:47 and it was really fun. 01:49 Thanks Chikkita, that was really good. Auntie Cecily you 01:52 have a blessing to share with us as well about the Sabbath. 01:57 Yes. Remember last Sabbath we spoke about going to church and 02:01 worshipping with other believers on the Sabbath day. Well Jesus 02:05 said in Matthew 12:12 it is lawful to good on the Sabbath. 02:11 God intended the Sabbath to be a spiritual refreshment and a 02:16 delight for us. We can visit people at home who are feeling 02:20 sick or people who are in the hospital or people that are in 02:25 a nursing home. We can also visit people who are lonely and 02:29 who are living on their own and need some cheering up. We can 02:34 help mom or dad prepare a meal on Friday to take to someone in 02:38 need. We can invite someone home for lunch who is visiting our 02:44 church or someone who's lonely. If we know someone who's sad and 02:48 needs encouragement we can get them a card, we could make one 02:53 for them couldn't we, make your own card and tell them how much 02:58 Jesus loves them and that we are praying for them. So the Sabbath 03:03 is about doing kind and helpful things for other people. Perhaps 03:08 before next Sabbath you can pray and ask God to show you how you 03:13 can be a blessing to others on the Sabbath day. 03:16 Wow. Thank you Auntie Cecily. Do you know another way that we 03:20 can worship God on the Sabbath is to praise God in song. 03:23 We have Pastor Rick here with us. 03:26 Hi boys and girls. Let's sing Wide, Wide As the Ocean. 04:06 Can we sing the books of the Bible? 04:08 Yes we can. 05:26 Pastor Rick can we do Into My Heart? 05:30 We certainly can. 06:33 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's great to worship God in song. Nick 06:38 we discovered a blessing at Sunnyside this week. Will you 06:41 share that with the children at home? Yes. Okay, let's go 06:45 have a look at that. 06:51 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond. Welcome to 06:55 the Australian home of Mrs. Ellen White. Come with me, 07:00 I've got some stories to tell you. 07:07 I want to tell you the story about little Roy Thompson. 07:13 He was 10 and he was just like any other 10-year-old boy. 07:19 He loved to run. He didn't like school too much, but he loved to 07:25 play football and he had a football. And his friends used 07:27 to play with him and one day They were chasing the football 07:33 and it went over the fence. And Roy jumped over and they were 07:37 seeing who was going to be there first. When he jumped over the 07:41 he didn't land terribly well and he landed on his 07:47 knee. But the five boys were coming over and they all landed 07:54 on top of him and his knee went pop, crunch, ouch, yell, and he 08:01 limped off and almost immediately his leg started to 08:05 swell. And it got worse and worse. He had fractured a bone 08:11 there called the knee cap or patella. He went to bed. It got 08:15 bigger and bigger and they called in the doctors. Now when 08:19 a doctor comes in and he smiles you know it's not going to be 08:24 too bad. But when they look very serious, something like that, 08:28 you know you a problem. And as the weeks went past the 08:34 swelling got worse and finally they say Roy we're going to 08:40 have to cut off your leg above your knee, it's so infected. 08:45 But Ellen found out because her daddy was working here at 08:49 Sunnyside; and he was building the new college buildings. 08:54 And she said, bring him up here. You know he could have stayed 08:58 for one week, two weeks. He stayed six months. In fact he 09:04 stayed a whole year. And Ellen's friend Sarah she got there and 09:09 she wrapped it in bandages and she got charcoal and she made 09:14 what we call a poultice and it drew the poison out and finally 09:18 all this muck came out and bits of bone, three pieces of bone. 09:24 And he got better. And he loved living with her and the family 09:30 came up and they loved here in Courenbong. And here I have a 09:36 picture. You walked through this door when you came in and there 09:41 is Mrs. White and there is Sarah the nurse and away along here 09:48 standing at the front is little Roy Thompson and because he had 09:55 his injury, the family moved up and bought a house here. And his 10:02 daddy was such a good builder. He built the college chapel, he 10:09 built all the halls and they became well known in the 10:15 district. They settled here and Minerva had many children and 10:21 they had children and the children had children and I want 10:27 you to meet two of them. Come here Grady and come here Riley. 10:34 Now you stand here and Riley stand here and Riley, I want you 10:43 to tell all the boys and girls behind the camera what is your 10:51 real name, what's your name? 10:55 Riley (who) Thompson. 10:57 Oh. And what's your name? 11:00 Grady Thompson. 11:02 And I want to tell you something else, boys and girls. 11:06 The reason I know the Thompsons who are the same family of 11:11 little Roy is that Riley and Grady are my grandsons. 11:15 And I'm very proud. I'm so glad. But you know what. They would 11:21 never had come here if little Roy hadn't smashed his knee. 11:26 Now Roy grew up. He's dead now but I spoke to his son yesterday 11:32 He's 92 years of age and he said his daddy kept his leg all his 11:37 life. You know the Bible has told us that I will bless you up 11:45 to the 10th generation if you serve Me because Riley and Grady 11:50 are the sixth generation all the way down from the Mr. Thompson 11:56 who came and worked here. And so God blesses people who 12:00 serve Him and if you serve Him your children and their children 12:04 and their grandchildren and their great grandchildren they 12:07 will follow Jesus too. Isn't that a lovely thing to look 12:09 forward to. Thank you 12:13 Hi boys and girls. Happy Sabbath Welcome to our Bible study. 12:16 I hope you are ready to follow along with us and you have your 12:19 Bibles. Auntie Cecily could you please say a prayer for us 12:22 before we read our Bibles? 12:24 Yes. Dear God we thank you for your word and we pray that the 12:29 children at home and here will understand what we read. 12:33 For Jesus' sake. Amen. 12:34 Amen! Kate what did we study about last Sabbath? 12:38 How Abraham's servant found a wife for Isaac. 12:42 Isaac. Yeah. And Isaac said a prayer to God about? 12:48 He wanted to have some kids so they had twins. 12:53 Yeah, Rebekah eventually had twins didn't she? And what were 12:56 their names. 12:57 Jacob and Esau. 12:58 That's right. We're going to study in the Bible today what 13:02 happened to those two brothers. Nick, you've got our first 13:05 reading today. Can you read for us Genesis 25:29-34? 13:12 Now Jacob cooked a stew and Esau came in from the field and was 13:17 weary and Esau said to Jacob please feed me with that same 13:22 red stew for I am weary. Therefore, his name was called 13:27 Edom. But Jacob said, sell me your birthright as of this day. 13:32 And Esau said, Look I'm about to die, so what is this 13:36 birthright to me? Then Jacob said, Swear to me as of this 13:40 day, so he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob. 13:44 And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils and then he ate 13:49 and drank and rose up and went his way. 13:54 Thus Esau despised his birthright. 13:57 Mmm. So Esau he wasn't happy to wait until he got home to his 14:01 family for something to eat. He saw what Jacob was cooking and 14:06 he wanted it right away. But Jacob said he could have some 14:10 if he sold him his? Birthright. His birthright. Do you know 14:14 what? A birthright is something very important, something to 14:18 treasure. It was a life of service and who had the 14:23 birthright with the line that Jesus was going to come. 14:27 But did Esau like his birthright No. We just read that he 14:31 despised his birthright. Dearie me, so I think it was easy to 14:35 sell his birthright wasn't it? Because he really wasn't 14:36 interested. He was just so busy roaming the mountains, hunting. 14:42 He liked that better. So Jacob, on the other hand, he wanted 14:48 nothing better than to serve God. He wanted to be like his 14:53 grandfather Abraham and commune with God and I think he wanted 14:57 the birthright. And we're to study about that. Let's read in 15:03 Genesis 27:3-4. Ella, you're going to read that. Isaac's very 15:08 old here and he's going blind and he's worried he's going to 15:13 die. So Ella read that for us. 15:14 Now therefore please take your weapons your quiver and your bow 15:19 and go out to the field and hunt a game for me. And make me 15:25 savory food such as I love and bring it to me that I may eat 15:30 that my soul may bless you before I die. 15:33 Mmm. So Isaac has asked his son Esau to go on one of his hunts. 15:38 Now Esau liked hunting didn't he? Yeah. To find some nice food 15:43 for his father to eat because he wanted to bestow the final 15:47 blessing and birthright on Esau. But who was listening? Who do 15:52 you think might have been listening to that request? 15:55 Rebekah. Rebekah was. Now Rebekah when she prayed to God 15:59 God told her that the oldest would serve the youngest didn't 16:04 He? And so she always thought that Jacob deserved the 16:08 the birthright, not Esau. So she told Jacob to go out to the 16:15 flock and get a kid and to bring it back and she would prepare 16:20 it for Isaac and Jacob would get the blessing instead of Esau. 16:27 Let's find out what happens. Okay. Now Elijah you're going to 16:34 Genesis 27:16 because they did something to disguise Jacob's 16:40 hands because what was Esau when he was born? Remember what 16:46 was he? He was hairy. Okay Elijah you read that for us. 16:51 And she put the skins of the kid of the goat on his hand and 16:55 and on the smooth part of his neck. 16:57 Mmm. So they went to a lot of trouble to trick Isaac, didn't 17:01 they? Kate you're going to read for us Genesis 27:18-23. 17:07 So he went to the father and said, my father, and he said 17:11 here I am, who are you my son? Jacob said to his father, I am 17:16 Esau your firstborn. I have done just as you told me. 17:20 Please arise, sit and eat of my game that your soul may bless 17:26 me. But Isaac said to Esau, how is it that you have found it so 17:31 quickly my son. And he said because the Lord your God 17:34 brought it to me. But Isaac said to Jacob, Please come near that 17:38 I may feel you my son whether you are really my son Esau or 17:44 not. So Jacob went near to Isaac his father and he felt and he 17:48 said, The voice is Jacob's voice but the hands are the hands of 17:53 Esau. When he did not recognize him because his hands were hairy 17:58 like his brother Esau's hands so he blessed him. 18:01 Mmm. So were Rebekah and Jacob successful in tricking Isaac? Yes. 18:08 They were. Ben we're going to look at our Torch Light to see 18:12 what Mrs. White's writing shine on this subject. Can you read 18:16 that for us please. 18:24 God had declared that Jacob 18:26 should receive the birthright and His word would have been 18:28 fulfilled in his own time had they waited in faith for Him 18:31 to work for them. 18:33 Mmm. So were Rebekah and Jacob patient and faithful. No. They 18:36 They weren't because they didn't wait on God to do it in His 18:40 timing. They went ahead of God. Where else have we read that? 18:45 Remember we read with Sarah and Abraham how they didn't wait 18:48 because they didn't trust that God would give them a baby and 18:52 Abraham took a second wife didn't he because they didn't 18:55 trust God. 18:56 And the same thing is happening here. So Jacob leaves his 19:00 father's tent after he's deceived him. Esau turns up with 19:04 the food that he went out and hunted for. Let's find out Aunt 19:08 Cecily what happens when Esau and Isaac find out they've been 19:12 tricked. We're going to read Genesis 27:33-35. 19:20 Then Isaac trembled exceedingly and said, Who. Where is the one 19:25 who hunted game and brought it to me. I ate all of it before 19:30 you came and I have blessed him and indeed he shall be blessed. 19:35 When Esau heard the words of his father he cried with an 19:40 exceedingly great and bitter cry and said to his father, bless me 19:46 me also, O my father. But he said your brother came with 19:51 deceit and has taken away your blessing. 19:54 Do you think Esau was angry? Ah, he was extremely angry. 19:59 Let's read, Sarah, in Genesis 27:43-44 to 20:08 see what happens. 20:10 Now therefore my son Obey my voice. Arise, flee to my brother 20:16 Laban in Herran and stay with him a few days until your 20:20 brother's fury turns away. 20:22 Mmm. Because Esau had threatened to kill Jacob. 20:25 Goodness me. So does lying pay? No Jacob had to leave his family 20:30 and he never saw his mother again. Let's see what our Bibles 20:36 say. We're going to read our memory verse together in 20:41 Proverbs 12:22. Because it tells us something very special. 20:44 Okay all ready? 20:51 Lying is an abomination to the Lord but those who deal 20:56 truthfully are his delight. 21:00 So that tells us that God is not happy when we lie, just like 21:04 he wasn't happy when Jacob lied to his father. God loves it when 21:09 we tell the truth. You know both Rebekah and Jacob were very 21:13 sorry for their sin and they repented. They realized that 21:17 they should have left the whole situation in God's hands. 21:21 They did what they thought was right and it got them into a lot 21:25 of trouble. But you know what? God loved Jacob very much even 21:29 though he did the wrong thing. Thank you boys and girls for 21:33 joining us today in reading the Bible. It was great to have you 21:36 along. Our story today teaches us that we need to be patient 21:40 and wait on the Lord to work things out for us. Ask God to 21:43 help you today to have more faith to wait on Him. It can 21:47 help keep you from being tempted and deceiving people into doing 21:50 what you think is best. God loves you so much. He only wants 21:54 the best for you. Next Sabbath we are going to study about what 21:57 happened to Jacob. 22:00 We've looked at how we can be a blessing to others and do good 22:05 on the Sabbath. When we read the Bible it draws us closer to 22:10 Jesus. Then the Holy Spirit works in our lives and we can 22:15 become more thoughtful toward others. Because of this we want 22:19 to encourage you to read your Bibles, not just on the Sabbath 22:24 but every day. Auntie Nat, can you share with us the devotional 22:28 that's relating to our study today? 22:30 Sure. We have a seven-day devotional study available 22:33 on Jacob and Esau, the subject we studied together today. This 22:37 devotional expands on what we've learnt. You can download it and 22:41 print it free from our website. www.adaywiththeking.com. 22:46 This will help you to read your Bible every day and to spend 22:50 time getting to know God. Auntie Cecily will we read our memory 22:54 verse? 22:55 Yes. Are you ready to say it all together children? 22:57 Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord but 23:05 those who deal truthfully are His delight. 23:09 Auntie Nat, are you ready to sing our blessing song to the 23:12 children? Sure let's do that. 23:14 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill your heart with love¤ 23:27 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤ 23:38 ¤And Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤ 23:49 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed¤ 23:59 ¤Good bye my friend, till we meet again¤ 24:04 ¤For another day with the King¤ 24:10 Good bye, good bye. See you next Sabbath. 24:15 ¤ ¤ |
