00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:04 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King.
00:06 ¤ ¤
00:53 Hello, I'm Auntie Cecily. It's so good that you could join us
00:56 to meet with the King. We're
00:58 about to open the Sabbath. Come
01:00 and join our worship time. Hello Auntie Nat. It's good to have
01:04 you with us again.
01:05 Thank you Auntie Cecil. I'm pleased to be here.
01:07 Hello boys and girls. So glad you're here to help us to
01:11 help us to welcome the King as well. Hello Teddy. How are you
01:15 today? You look all freshed up and ready for the Sabbath.
01:19 Auntie Nat would you like to say a prayer for us and invite the
01:22 Lord to be with us.
01:24 Sure, I can do that. Dearest heavenly Father. We thank and
01:27 praise your Name for the Sabbath day. We thank you Lord that you
01:31 died for us on the cross. And we just ask now that you be with
01:34 the children's hearts and minds. Bless them Lord. And be with the
01:37 children at home as well. And we ask this in Jesus' precious
01:41 Name. Amen.
01:45 Amen. Tonight it's a great time to reflect on our week and count
01:48 the blessings that God has sent us. Nick, has there been
01:51 something that's happened that you'd like to thank the Lord
01:54 about?
01:55 Yes. Um, well I've been wanting a baby brother for years now
01:59 and just this year I've finally got one. I've already got two
02:03 sisters, so it's nice to have a brother.
02:05 Oh that is lovely isn't it? That's good. Thanks for sharing
02:09 that with us.
02:11 Auntie Cecily, you have a blessing to share with us
02:12 as well.
02:15 Yes. Remember we talked about God as our deliverer and that He
02:19 is holy and He is the I Am. For God is also compassionate.
02:24 Another way of saying that is that God cares about us. Later
02:28 on we'll be studying in the Bible how God took great care
02:32 of the children of Israel. When they left Egypt an easy way for
02:37 them to go was straight through the Philistine country to the
02:42 land of Canaan. But God chose to lead them another way, down by
02:46 the Red Sea so the children could avoid coming in contact
02:50 with the Philistines. What do you think the Philistines would
02:54 have done? They would have gone to war with Israelites and
02:58 attacked them. So God, in His compassion, because he cared, he
03:02 knew that the Israelites weren't ready for warfare. They were
03:07 tired and exhausted from all the slavery in Egypt. They also had
03:11 women and children and flocks of animals with them. So God didn't
03:15 want them to stress and become disheartened just because they
03:20 had to go into war. God also covered them with a cloud during
03:25 the day to shelter them from the desert heat and a fire at night
03:31 to give light and to show his comforting presence. I Peter and
03:37 Psalm 86 tell us how much God cares for us. God is a
03:42 compassionate, caring God.
03:44 Amen. Thank you Auntie Cecily for sharing that with us. Do you
03:49 know another way we can worship God on the Sabbath is through
03:53 song. And we have Pastor Rick here again with us. Thanks
03:56 Pastor Rick.
03:57 Hi boys and girls. Let's sing
04:00 that song called When the Road is Rough and Steep.
04:41 Let's do it again.
05:14 Pastor Rick can we sing I Am So Glad?
05:19 Absolutely. Love that song.
06:21 Pastor Rick can we sing When He Cometh?
06:28 Ah, can't wait for that time. Let's sing about it.
07:29 Thanks Pastor Rick. Praising God in song is just such an
07:35 enjoyable part of our worship. We also have a blessing from
07:40 Dr. John. Let's go and have a look at that.
07:43 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond and we are
07:48 at Sunnyside and we're about to leave and to do some exploring
07:52 and we're going to find something very, very interesting
07:56 Just come with me and we'll go looking.
08:05 Hello boys and girls. We are in a very secret place. We are in a
08:10 spot where nobody's allowed to come. It's in the bell tower Ben
08:16 Avondale College and there is the bell. And boys and girls
08:20 do you know why I have Ben here? His grandfather, Dr. Allen
08:25 Lindsey used to ring the bell. And I see many names here.
08:29 I haven't found his name or mine because I used to be the
08:34 bell ringer, too. Many years ago when they first built the
08:39 college Ellen White ordered a bell and when they got the bell
08:45 she said I want a bell that can be heard a long, long way and
08:50 that is quite a heavy bell. You wouldn't be able to lift it.
08:55 And when they put it up here and they rang it, you know how far
08:59 it could be heard? It could be heard out in the village about
09:04 a kilometer away. It could be heard at Morrissett and
09:09 somebody even said they could hear it at Mountsiro and
09:13 every morning that bell used to ring at quarter to six in the
09:18 morning and when I was the bell ringer, I used to set my clock
09:23 because the bell would ring and it would start to ring and would
09:28 ring 150 times and everybody woke up. They would set their
09:32 watches; 150 rings and we'd ring it for worship and we'd ring it
09:36 for worship and we'd ring it for class and you're going to ring
09:39 it Ben and I want you to
09:41 know that when you ring this whole college is going to come
09:46 to a standstill. But you now Ellen used to speak here and
09:50 that bell, even though it can be heard a long way away, when I
09:55 was a little boy living here I used to know old people who
09:59 used to say that when Mrs. White was preaching just underneath us
10:04 here she had a voice that go so clearly that it could be heard
10:09 all the way across the swinging bridge over there, all the way
10:13 out to the village, her voice could be heard. And she actually
10:19 had to train her voice so she could speak in front of 20,000
10:24 people. Now if I tried in front of 20,000 people I'd have to
10:29 have a microphone. But she trained her stomach muscles
10:33 and the sound started from her tummy, came all the way up and
10:38 she could be heard such a long, long way away. And Ellen's voice
10:44 can no longer be heard and this bell is hardly ever rung
10:47 because we have electric bells right through the college.
10:51 And so Ben, when you ring this I want you to realize something.
10:57 There are people right around the village, old people, they
11:02 will hear the bell as you ring it and they will say, it's the
11:07 bell, is there a fire? Is there a bush fire? Has there been an
11:11 accident because in the old days when somebody got lost in the
11:15 mountains and they wanted to call everybody together, they
11:19 would ring this bell. And they would ring it, and ring it, and
11:23 ring it. And Ellen's voice was like that bell. It was clear and
11:26 she had a message for all the people. Now when you pull that
11:30 rope, I need to warn you what's going to happen.
11:33 All the students, they might be studying in the library, they
11:38 might be doing an exam, they might even be sleeping, are
11:43 going to wake up. They'll say what's that? Because nobody can
11:46 sleep through the bell. And maybe the President, Professor
11:50 Ronfeldt, he might be working in his office and he might be on
11:53 his computer and when you pull that rope it's going to go clang
11:57 but you know when people hear that bell they're going to think
12:01 of something. They will say my grandfather used to say that
12:05 bell rang when Ellen White was here. And her voice was as clear
12:09 as a bell. Are you ready? You get that rope. Now sometimes
12:14 that rope can pull you off your feet. You get it up here and you
12:19 see it swings and the first pull is easy and then it will swing
12:23 and try and pull you off your feet. Are you ready to go up in
12:27 the air? Nope. Is he going to go up in the air boys and girls?
12:31 I don't know but are you ready. When I count to three, one, two
12:35 three. (Bell clanging) Now I'll help you.
12:43 (Bell clanging faster)
12:55 And you now boys and girls. After 45 years, I haven't
12:59 forgotten how to ring the bell. Ben, your grandpa will be proud
13:03 of you and boys and girls, that is the famous college bell.
13:07 Thank you.
13:09 Hi boys and girls. Happy Sabbath Welcome to our Bible study. If
13:12 you haven't got your Bibles ready go get them now so you can
13:15 follow along with us. Nick, you're going to say prayer for
13:18 us to open our reading time. Can you do that?
13:21 Dear Lord, thank you so much for this time where we can read
13:24 your word. We are so grateful for our Bibles and help us to
13:28 all understand what you are telling us. In Jesus' name, Amen
13:32 Amen. Now Nick can you remember from our study last week how
13:36 many plagues were there. Um 10. Ten. Do you know what?
13:41 God sent those plagues to show that He was mightier than the
13:44 Egyptian idols. Now when the children of Israel left Egypt it
13:48 was called the Exodus which is the name of the very book that
13:52 we are studying in. Ella can you please read for us Exodus
13:56 12:35-38.
13:59 Now the children of Israel had done according to the word of
14:04 Moses and they had asked from the Egyptians articles of silver
14:09 articles of gold and clothing. and the Lord had given the
14:13 people favor in the sight of the Egyptians so that they
14:17 granted them what they requested. Thus they plundered
14:20 the Egyptians and the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses
14:26 Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot besides
14:32 children. A mixed multitude went up with them also, flocks and
14:36 herds and a great deal of livestock.
14:40 Thank you Ella. So the Egyptians were happy they were finally
14:44 going and were quite happy to give them the things the
14:47 Israelites asked for. Really it was their wages of their unpaid
14:51 slave labor for the last 200 years that were being paid for.
14:56 We are told in verse 37 that there were 600,000 men. That's
14:59 not including women and children so there would have probably
15:03 been over a million people that left Egypt. Can you remember
15:06 from our first study how many people came down to Egypt?
15:10 Can you remember that number? 70. 70. Wow. God has blessed
15:14 them as a nation, just as he had promised. Now let's look at the
15:18 map. Auntie Cecily, can you point to Rameses. That's where
15:22 the children of Israel came and we just read that they went to
15:26 Succoth which is just there. Okay, all right. Now Nick, let's
15:31 continue our study. Can you read Exodus 13:20-23?
15:35 So they took their journey from Succoth and camped in Etham at
15:40 the edge of the wilderness. And the Lord went before them by
15:45 day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way and by night in a
15:49 pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and
15:54 night. He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the
15:58 pillar of fire by night from the people.
16:00 So the only way the Lord in His mercy led them by a pillar of
16:04 cloud during the day to show them the way to go and keep them
16:09 cool by protecting them from the harsh desert heat. God also used
16:13 a pillar of flame by night to give them light and assure them
16:17 of His divine presence. Isn't God good? He is isn't He?
16:22 Now Elijah you're going to read for us Exodus 14:5-9.
16:26 Now it was told the king of Egypt that the people had fled
16:31 and the heart of Pharaoh and his servants was turned against the
16:35 people and they said why have we done this, that we have let
16:39 Israel go from serving us. So he made ready his chariot and
16:44 took his people with him. Also he took 600 choice chariots and
16:48 all the chariots of Egypt with captains over every one of them.
16:52 And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, king of Egypt and
16:56 he pursued the children of Israel and the children of
16:58 Israel went out with boldness. So the Egyptians pursued them
17:02 all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen and his
17:07 army and overtook them camping by the sea Pi Hahiroth before
17:13 Baal Zephon.
17:14 Thank you Elijah. So Pharaoh's heart was hardened and he
17:19 suddenly realized he had let his entire work force go. He wanted
17:23 them back. So he assembled his army. Can you tell me from verse
17:28 7 how many chariots he had? How many was there? Six
17:31 hundred. Six hundred and off he went pursuing the Israelites
17:34 into the desert. Okay Kate, can you read for us
17:37 Exodus 14:10-13.
17:41 Clears throat. And when Pharaoh drew near the children of Israel
17:45 lifted their eyes and behold the Egyptians marched after them.
17:48 So they were very afraid and the children of Israel cried out to
17:52 the Lord. Then they said to Moses, Because there were no
17:56 graves in Egypt have you taken us away to die in the wilderness
18:00 Why have you so dealt with us to bring us up out of Egypt.
18:06 Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt saying let us
18:12 alone that we may serve to Egyptians. For it would have
18:16 been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should
18:20 die in the wilderness. And Moses said to the people, Do not be
18:25 afraid. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord which He
18:29 will accomplish for you today, for the Egyptians whom you see
18:33 today you shall see again no more forever.
18:36 Thanks Kate. So the children of Israel saw the Egyptian army
18:40 coming towards them and they panicked. They were very scared.
18:44 They cried out to God and Moses as they just couldn't see how
18:48 they could be spared from the wrath of the Egyptians. They had
18:51 the Red Sea on one side, the mountains on the other and
18:55 coming towards them was the Egyptian army. Let's look at our
18:59 memory verse today and let's read that together. That's
19:01 found in Exodus 14:14. This is very important. Let's read that.
19:07 The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace.
19:12 Wow! So the Israelites were to trust in God to fight their
19:16 battles for them. Let's see what happens next. Dean, can you read
19:20 for us Exodus 14:19-20.
19:23 And the angel of God who went before the camp of Israel moved
19:28 and went behind them and the pillar of cloud went before them
19:32 and stood behind them. So it came between the camp of the
19:36 Egyptians and the camp of Israel Thus was the cloud of darkness
19:40 to the one and it gave light by night to the other so that the
19:44 one did not come near the other all that night.
19:48 Thank you Dean. So the pillar of cloud that was in front of
19:51 them leading the way, moved over behind them and behind and right
19:56 in front of the Egyptians. This caused great darkness on the
20:00 Egyptian side and light on the Israelites' side. So the
20:03 Egyptians couldn't see the Israelites and they were stopped
20:07 in their tracks. Isn't God good? Is He fighting the battle for
20:11 them? He is, isn't He? Okay Anna you're going to read for us next
20:15 Exodus 14:21-22.
20:17 Then Moses stretched his hand over the sea and the Lord caused
20:23 the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night and
20:27 made the sea into dry land and the waters were divided. So the
20:32 children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry
20:36 ground and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand
20:40 and on their left.
20:42 Wow! So God through Moses opened the Red Sea for the Israelites
20:46 to walk straight on through. Let's look at our Torch Light,
20:51 Mrs. White's writings, to help us understand what God is saying
20:55 to us and we're going to read that from the bottom of our
20:58 Remnant Young Scholar Study Bible. Thanks Auntie Cecily.
21:02 God in His providence brought
21:04 the Hebrews into the mountain
21:06 vastness's before the sea that He might manifest His power in
21:11 their deliverance and signally humble the pride of their
21:16 oppressors. He might have saved them in any other way, but he
21:21 chose this method in order to test their faith and strengthen
21:25 their trust in Him.
21:26 Mmm. Thanks Auntie Cecily. So the children of Israel had been
21:30 slaves for so long they had lost their hold on God and this was
21:35 one way God was going to build up their trust and their faith
21:39 in Him. Isn't God good? Okay, Ella, can you please read
21:44 Exodus 14:23-25.
21:48 And the Egyptians pursued and went after them in the midst of
21:53 the sea. All Pharaoh's horses, his chariots and his horsemen.
21:57 Now it came to pass in the morning watch that the Lord
22:01 looked out upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of
22:06 fire and cloud, and he troubled the army of the Egyptians and He
22:10 took off their chariot wheels so they drove them with difficulty.
22:15 And the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel for
22:20 the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.
22:23 Thanks Ella. So the Egyptian army had gone in after the
22:27 Israelites, but as we just read God fought the battle for the
22:30 battle for the Israelites. The Egyptians became very confused
22:33 and they tried to return back to the shore in the direction
22:37 they'd come. Can we fight God? No. No way. We can't fight God,
22:41 can we? Now the children of Israel had gotten to the other
22:45 side of the Red Sea and Elijah can you continue reading for us
22:48 please, Exodus 14:26-28.
22:52 Then the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the
22:56 sea that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on
23:00 their chariots and on their horsemen. And Moses stretched
23:04 out his hand over the sea and when the morning appeared, the
23:08 sea returned to its full depth while the Egyptians were fleeing
23:12 into it. So the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of
23:16 the sea. Then the waters returned and covered the
23:18 chariots, the horsemen and all the army of Pharaoh that came
23:23 into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained.
23:27 Wow! So did God win the battle for the Israelites. Yes. He did
23:30 didn't He. Did the children of Israel have to physically fight
23:34 the army of Egypt? No. No, God did the fighting for them. All
23:38 they had to do was be faithful and obedient. Okay, Kate, let's
23:42 see what happens next. Exodus 15:1-2
23:46 Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the
23:50 Lord and spake saying, I will sing to the Lord for he has
23:54 triumphed gloriously. The horse and its rider has been thrown
24:01 into the sea. The Lord is my strength and song and He has
24:07 become my salvation. He is my God and I will praise Him, my
24:12 Father's God and I will exalt him.
24:14 So Moses sang a song of praise to the Lord. Let's read what
24:20 Miriam did. Dean can you please read for us Exodus 15:20-21.
24:27 Then Miriam, the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took the
24:33 timbrel in her hand and all the women went out after her with
24:38 timbrels and dances and Miriam answered them, Sing to the Lord
24:43 for He has triumphed gloriously. The horse and it's rider he has
24:48 thrown into the sea.
24:49 So Miriam, who was Moses and Aaron's sister also sang praises
24:53 to God. Do you think it's important to praise God? Yes.
24:57 Yes it is. This story has been put in the Bible to remind us
25:00 that God is our deliverer and we can trust Him. Thank you boys
25:03 and girls for reading along with us. We have so much to be
25:06 thankful for. Praise God today for the many daily blessings He
25:09 has sent your way. We have a seven day devotional that goes
25:13 into more detail on what we have just learnt. Here are some
25:16 details on how you can access that.
25:18 Hey boys and girls, like Anutie Nat said, you can go onto our
25:23 website to access our daily devotionals at
25:25 www.adaywiththeking.com. And while you're there, you can also
25:30 check out Teddy's blog. He's posted some really cool photos
25:34 of us making the show. He also talks about it as well. He even
25:38 posted about his visit to the vet. So hop online today.
25:42 When we choose to keep the Sabbath, it can be a great
25:46 blessing in our lives. Every time we read our Bibles we can
25:50 be blessed and God can open new truths to us. We want to
25:54 encourage you to read your Bibles not only on the Sabbath
25:58 day but every day. Auntie Nat would you tell us about what
26:01 we're going to study next week?
26:04 Yes. Next Sabbath we'll be studying how God sent something
26:08 from heaven for the children of Israel. It was something very
26:11 special. Children at home look up in your Bibles and see if
26:15 you can find out what that is. Auntie Cecily, we go over
26:18 our memory verse that we learnt in our study today?
26:20 Yes. You ready children? Let's have a look at that.
26:23 Exodus 14:14- The Lord will fight for you and you shall
26:32 hold your peace.
26:33 Auntie Nat are you ready to sing our blessing song?
26:35 Yes, let's do that. Children can you turn around so we can sing
26:39 to the children at home.
26:42 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill your heart with love¤
26:55 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤
27:07 ¤As Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤
27:17 ¤The day the King of Glory has sanctified and blessed¤
27:28 ¤Good bye my friends till we meet again¤
27:34 ¤For another day with the King¤
27:38 Good bye, good bye, See you next Sabbath.
