00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:04 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King. 00:06 ¤ ¤ 00:54 Hello. I'm Auntie Cecily. Thanks for joining us as we meet with 00:57 the King in worship. We're about 00:59 to open the Sabbath. Hello 01:01 Auntie Nat. It's always a joy to have you here with us. 01:04 Thanks Auntie Cecily. 01:06 Hello boys and girls. We're so glad that you could be with us 01:09 too to help us meet with the King. And hello Teddy. I think 01:13 he's just doing final touch ups getting ready for Sabbath. 01:16 Auntie Nat would you please say a prayer for us to just welcome 01:20 the Lord into our presence. 01:22 I'm happy to. Dear Father, we thank you and praise your name 01:26 for what you did for us that you've kept us safe during the 01:29 week. We thank you for this beautiful Sabbath day and we 01:33 just ask Lord that you come into the hearts of the children who 01:36 are here and who are watching at home. And we ask this in 01:39 Jesus' name Amen. 01:41 Amen. Do you know it's always a great time to just reflect on 01:46 our week and count the blessings that God has 01:48 given us during the week when we come to the Sabbath. Bethany 01:52 is there something that's happened that you'd like to let 01:55 us know? 01:57 Well I have a dog and a cat and my mom just had a baby and when 02:01 we brought the baby home we weren't sure how the animals 02:06 would react to the baby. But they were very nice to the baby 02:11 and everyone got along well. 02:13 Oh that's good Bethany. Thanks for sharing that with us. 02:17 Auntie Cecily you have a blessing to share with us about 02:20 our awesome God. 02:21 Yes. As you know, we've been spending some time talking about 02:26 the character of God and we've discussed that God is our 02:30 Deliverer, He's holy and He's the I Am and He's compassionate, 02:36 and our Provider and God is love Last Sabbath we spoke about God 02:41 being a God of order. So today I want to tell you that our God is 02:46 also a God of mercy. Later on in our Bible study we'll learn 02:50 how merciful our God is. The children of Israel witnessed 02:55 the glory of God many times and the miraculous care that God 03:00 gave to them, but they still disobeyed, sadly. This made God 03:05 very unhappy. But through the intercession of Moses and the 03:11 Israelites repenting God restored them to His favor. 03:15 God is so merciful. David recognized that God was 03:20 when he committed a great sin. There was no one else he wanted 03:25 to turn to but to God. In Ephesians we read that God is 03:31 rich in mercy because he loves us so much. You can come to Him 03:36 any time and tell Him how sorry you are and in God's mercy and 03:41 love He'll forgive you. So remember, our God is a God of 03:45 mercy. 03:47 Praise the Lord. Thanks Auntie Cecily. Do you know another way 03:50 we can open the Sabbath and share Sabbath blessings with 03:55 people is to sing praises to our Lord. And we have Pastor Rick 03:59 here again. Thanks Pastor Rick. 04:01 It's great to be here again 04:02 Auntie Nat. Welcome children. 04:04 Why don't we sing Wonderful, Wonderful? 04:31 Again. 04:52 Pastor Rick can we please sing He's Able? 05:00 We certainly can. 05:41 Let's sing it again. 06:20 Pastor Rick can we sing Jesus Loves Me? 06:24 Just love that song. What do you think Let's sing it together 07:51 Thanks Pastor Rick, that was wonderful. Now Dr. John also has 07:55 a blessing to share with us. Let's have a look at that. 08:01 ¤ ¤ Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond and 08:06 welcome to Sunnyside, the Australian home of Mrs. Ellen 08:11 G. White. I have some interesting stories for 08:15 you. Just come inside with me. You're going to like this. 08:20 Hello boys and girls. Welcome back. I'm Dr. John and I have 08:25 another story for you. Long time ago there was a man called Hiram 08:30 Patch. He had a girlfriend and the story doesn't give her a 08:34 name, so let's give her a nice old fashioned name. Any 08:40 suggestions. Yes? Jane. I reckon Jane will do. Hiram and Jane. 08:45 And they wanted to get married. Was it going to be a small 08:50 church or a big church? They didn't have much money. They 08:54 went to a small church and Pastor White was preaching and 08:58 sometimes his wife Ellen got up to preach and they were 09:02 preaching about the Sabbath and they lived in a town where 09:06 nobody went to church on Saturday. They all went on 09:13 Sunday. But Mrs. White was saying God gave us the Sabbath 09:17 the seventh day. And the people in the big church they got 09:20 really upset. They said oh we don't like these people in the 09:24 small church. Who can we have that can preach better than 09:29 Pastor and Mrs. White and so they got the man that we'll call 09:34 Mr. Treasurer. He was the big man in town. He was like our 09:39 council treasurer in charge of all the money. And he got up and 09:44 he preached against Ellen and he shouted and he got so excited 09:51 and you know what? He started to cry. We call them crocodile 09:57 tears. And he would pray Oh Lord curse these people who worship 10:02 on the wrong day which was the right day. And one day he was 10:08 preaching so loud and crying so hard that a blood vessel went 10:14 pop in his head. Today we call it a stroke. And they carried 10:19 him home on a stretcher. And we was in bed. Well somebody else 10:24 had to be made the new treasurer and when the treasurer went to 10:29 work, he looked at the books. He thought there's something 10:33 strange here. We are missing one thousand dollars. Now a thousand 10:38 dollars is a lot of money today but in those days, it was worth 10:44 about a hundred thousand dollars a lot of money. And they said we 10:49 cannot see where this money has gone. We might have to talk to 10:53 Mr. Treasurer. So two policemen walked down the road to Mr. 10:58 Treasurer's house. And when they got there one policeman said, he 11:03 was a bit smart, he said. I'll go round the back and I'll hide 11:08 in the shed and you knock on the door. Knocked on the door (knock 11:14 knock, knock). Mr. Treasurer was lying down. Come in, it's open. 11:19 And they went in and there was Mr. Treasurer lying in bed and 11:23 they said Mr. Treasurer we've lost some money. Do you know 11:28 where the money is? We've lost one thousand dollars. Oh, he 11:33 said, I have no idea. Somebody must have taken... it's not me. 11:39 And then Mrs. Treasurer came in. She heard him talking and she 11:45 said to the policeman, How dare you, how dare you ask my 11:50 husband if he's taken that thousand dollars. Oh you 11:54 terrible man and she raised her hands toward heaven, said God 11:59 knows we would never take that money. Do you know what 12:04 happened. The back door opened and in came the policeman who 12:11 was hiding behind the shed and he was carrying a bag and it was 12:17 quite a heavy bag. It was full of money and he put it on the 12:24 table. Oh, all the color went out of Mr. Treasurer's face. 12:30 It was the missing money and all the color drained out of Mrs. 12:35 Treasurer's face and then the policeman who'd been hiding 12:40 behind the shed, he said. I was watching and I saw you rush out 12:46 the back door, over to the bank where there was a lot of snow, a 12:51 snow bank, not a real bank and I saw you dig a hole and you 12:55 pushed that money in and then you covered it over with snow 13:01 and then you went back inside looking so innocent. And Hiram, 13:07 what was his girlfriend's name? Jane. Yes they had been to the 13:12 little church and they had been to the big church and nobody 13:17 was going to the big church any longer to hear Mr. Treasurer 13:23 because they knew he was a liar and Jane became Mrs. Hiram 13:28 Patch and they lived for many years and they always worshipped 13:33 in the small church with James and Ellen White. 13:37 Thank you boys and girls. 13:39 Good day boys and girls. Happy Sabbath. Welcome to our Bible 13:42 study. I hope you have your Bibles ready to read along with 13:45 us. Come and join us. 13:47 Ella, you're going to say a prayer for us to open our study. 13:51 Dear God, thank you for our Bibles. We ask now as we study 13:54 your word that you will help the children who are reading with us 13:57 to understand what you are saying to them. 14:00 In Jesus' name, Amen. 14:01 Amen. Now Ella can you remember last Sabbath how many days and 14:07 nights was Moses up on the mountain with God. 14:09 Forty days and forty nights. 14:11 Mmm. He was and there were some very special things that God 14:15 wanted to reveal to Moses. Can you remember what that was? 14:18 He revealed the building plans of the tabernacle and 14:22 instructions on how to build it. 14:25 He did, didn't he? And also too can you all remember what else 14:29 that God gave Moses that went into the ark of the covenant. 14:33 What was it on stone? 14:35 The 10 commandments. 14:36 The 10 commandments. Mmm. Well do you know what? Something 14:39 interesting happened in the encampment while Moses was away 14:43 with God. Can you remember how many weeks he was away. Was it 14:47 six, it was six and a half weeks it was a long time and the 14:50 children of Israel got very tired waiting for Moses to come 14:54 back. And there were some things that happened and that's what 14:57 we're going to study about. Okay Ella, you're going to read our 15:01 first reading in Exodus 32:1-6 please. 15:05 Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from 15:09 the mountain the people gathered around to Aaron and said to him: 15:14 Come make us Gods that shall go before us. For as for this Moses 15:19 the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not 15:24 know what has become of him. And Aaron said to them, break off 15:27 the golden earrings which are in your ears of your wives, your 15:31 sons and your daughters and bring them to me. So all the 15:35 people broke off the golden earrings which were in their 15:39 ears and brought them to Aaron and he received the gold from 15:44 their hand. And he fashioned it with an engraving tools and made 15:49 a molten calf. 15:51 And then they said, This is your God, O Israel, that 15:55 brought you out of the land of Egypt. So when Aaron saw it, he 15:58 built an altar before it and Aaron made a proclamation and 16:02 said, Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord. They rose early on 16:06 the next day, offered burnt offerings and brought piece 16:10 offerings and then the people sat down to eat and drink and 16:14 rose up to play. 16:15 Oh dear. Are we supposed to worship an idol. No. You know 16:20 that's what they did in Egypt and God had just spoken the 10 16:23 commandments to them and they had made a promise to God that 16:27 they would keep them. Do you know what commandment they'd 16:31 broken? Let's have a look at our 10 commandments here. What do 16:34 you think? Which commandment do you think they may have 16:37 broken. Two. Number two. Aunt Cecily can you just point to 16:40 number two on there. They had broken commandment number two. 16:44 Dearie me. Okay they'd broken their promise to God and that's 16:49 really sad isn't it? Nick can you please read Exodus 32:7-10 16:53 for us. 16:54 And the Lord said to Moses, Go, get down. For your people whom 16:59 you have brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted 17:02 themselves. They have turned aside quickly out of the way 17:06 which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded 17:11 calf and worshipped it and sacrificed to it and said this 17:15 is our God, O Israel, that has brought you out of the land of 17:20 Egypt. And the Lord said to Moses, I have seen this people 17:25 and indeed it is a stiff-necked people. Now, therefore, let me 17:29 alone that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume 17:34 and I will make you a great nation. 17:36 Mmm. So God is very cross with the children of Israel as they 17:39 have just broken the promise or covenant they made with Him. 17:43 God wants to destroy them all. Let's see what Moses' response 17:47 is to this. Elijah can you please read Exodus 32:11-14. 17:54 Then Moses pleaded with the Lord his God and said: Lord why does 17:57 wrath burn hot against your people whom you have brought out 18:01 of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand. 18:05 Why should the Egyptians speak and say, He brought them out to 18:09 harm them, to kill them in the mountains and to consume them 18:13 from the face of the earth. Turn from your fierce wrath and 18:17 relent from this harm to your people. Remember Abraham, 18:22 Isaac and Israel, your servants to whom you swore by your own 18:26 self and said to them, I will multiply your descendants as the 18:31 stars of heaven and all this land that I have spoken of I 18:34 give to your descendants and they shall inherit it forever. 18:38 So the Lord relented from the harm which He said He would do 18:42 to His people. 18:44 Wow. So do you know what Moses does? He does something pretty 18:48 incredible. He does what we call interceding which means he 18:52 speaks, prays and pleads to God on behalf of the Israelites. He 18:56 was a very brave man. He repeats the promises back to God that 19:01 He promised to Abraham. Because of what Moses does, God withdrew 19:05 His threat of harming them all. God is so good. Okay, Kate, 19:10 Exodus 32:19 please. 19:13 So it was as soon as he came near the camp and saw the calf 19:18 and the dancing, so Moses' anger became hot and he cast the 19:22 tablets out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the 19:25 mountain. 19:27 Mmm. So Moses wasn't happy with what he saw and breaks the 10 19:30 commandments. Let's look at our Torch Light, Mrs. White's 19:33 writings to see what they shine on that verse to help us 19:36 understand it more. Kate, can you read that for us please. 19:40 Moses was overwhelmed. He had 19:43 just come from the presence of God's glory and though he had 19:48 been warned of what was taking place, he was unprepared 19:55 for that dreadful exhibition of degradation of Israel. His 20:00 anger was hot. To show his abhorrence of their crime he 20:05 threw down the tables of stone and they were broken in the 20:10 sight of all the people thus signifying as they had broken 20:14 their covenant with God, so God had broken His covenant with 20:18 them. 20:19 Mmm. Okay Dean. Let's see what Moses does next. Let's read 20:24 Exodus 32:20 please. 20:26 Then he took the calf which they had made, burned it in the fire 20:32 and ground it to powder. And he scattered it on the water and 20:38 made the children of Israel drink it. 20:41 So Moses wanted to show them how worthless an idol is. He made 20:47 them drink it. Mmm. Anna can you please read Exodus 32:21-24. 20:52 And Moses said to Aaron, What did this people do to you that 20:58 you have brought so great a sin upon them? So Aaron said, Do not 21:04 let the anger of my lord become hot. You know the people that 21:09 they are set on evil, for they said to me, Make us gods that 21:14 shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us 21:19 out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him. 21:24 And I said to them, Whoever has any gold let them break it off. 21:29 So they gave it to me and I cast it into the fire and this calf 21:33 came out. 21:35 Mmm. So do you know what? Aaron said something that is not quite 21:38 right in verse 24. Did the golden calf jump out of the 21:42 fire on its own? No. Aaron made it so Aaron is lying to Moses. 21:47 You know what? Aaron was the chief offender of this sin of 21:50 of Israel because he didn't have the courage to stand strong for 21:54 God. We are told this apostasy would never have happened if he 21:59 had not caved in to the wishes of the people. Aaron had been 22:03 blessed and honored by God by the position he held, so his sin was 22:07 very grievous indeed. But you know what? Aaron repented 22:11 deeply and through Moses interceding on his behalf God 22:15 forgave him and restored him to his honored position. What an 22:20 amazing God we serve. So the tribe of Levi had not taken part 22:25 in the idolatrous worship of the 22:26 golden calf and we are told also that there were a great many 22:30 others from the other tribes who repented and humbled their 22:33 hearts to God. But if we were to read on in the Bible, it tells 22:37 us that 3000 died as a result of the sin they had committed 22:41 because they did not want to repent and turn their worship to 22:45 the one and true living God. Now we have a problem. The children 22:49 of Israel had broken their promise with God. That covenant 22:53 needed to be restored. And if we were to continue reading and 22:57 read Exodus 33, the Bible tells us that Moses set up his tent 23:01 outside the encampment and a lot of repentance, intercession and 23:05 soul-searching went on between Moses and the children of Israel 23:10 Moses had a great love for the children of Israel despite their 23:13 their shortcomings. Let's read our memory verse together which 23:18 is found in 2 Peter 3:9. And for the children at home, 2 Peter is 23:22 found in the New Testament. Let's read that together. 23:29 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise as some count 23:35 slackness, but is long-suffering towards us not willing that any 23:41 should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 23:46 So God's will for us is that we will all return to him. Nick can 23:51 you please read for us Exodus 34:5-6 and 8-10. 23:56 Now the Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there 24:01 and proclaimed the name of the Lord. And the Lord passed before 24:06 him and proclaimed, The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and 24:10 gracious, long-suffering and abounding in goodness and truth. 24:14 So Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the earth and 24:18 worshipped. Then he said, If now I have found grace in your sight 24:23 O Lord, let my Lord, I pray, go among us even though we are a 24:28 stiff-necked people and pardon our iniquity and our sin and 24:33 take us as your inheritance. And He said, Behold, I make 24:38 a covenant. 24:39 Before your people I will do marvels such as have not been 24:44 done in all the earth nor in any nation and all the people among 24:49 us whom you will shall see the work of the Lord. For it is an 24:54 awesome thing that I will do with you. 24:56 Wow! So God renewed His covenant with the people. Praise the Lord 25:01 So just as Moses interceded for the children of Israel and God 25:05 renewed His relationship with them, Jesus is doing the same 25:09 for us in heaven and we can come to the Lord daily and ask 25:13 forgiveness for our sins and our relationship daily will be 25:16 renewed with Him. What a wonderful thing God did for us. 25:20 Thank you boys and girls for reading along with us today. 25:23 God loves you so much. So much that He longs for us to turn our 25:27 hearts back to Him and worship Him alone. He does not want 25:30 anyone to miss the blessings of being obedient to Him. We have a 25:34 seven-day devotional available that expands on what we have 25:38 learnt today. Here is some information on how you can 25:40 get that. 25:42 Hey boys and girls, like Auntie Nat said you can go onto our 25:45 website to access our daily devotional at 25:48 www.adaywiththeking.com and while you're there you can 25:52 also check out Teddy's blog. He's posted some really cool 25:56 photos of us making the show. He also talks about it as well. 26:01 He even posted about his visit to the vet. So hop online today. 26:06 We've just studied in the Bible about how important a promise 26:10 is. The Bible tells us about how much God loves us and how much 26:14 more He loves us when we keep His promises. We want to 26:17 encourage you to read your Bibles, not only on the Sabbath 26:21 day but every day. Auntie Nat can you tell us what we're going 26:25 to study in the Bible next week? 26:27 Sure, I'd love to. Yes, next Sabbath we're going to study how 26:30 the children of Israel built that beautiful sanctuary from 26:33 the plans that Moses received from God. We have some wonderful 26:36 things to show you next week so don't miss it. Make sure you 26:40 come back. Auntie Cecily shall we go over our memory verse that 26:43 we learnt today in our Bible study? 26:44 Yes. Children are you going to read it all together? 26:46 2 Peter 3:9- The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, 26:53 but is longsuffering towards us, not willing that any should 26:59 perish but that all should come to repentance. 27:04 Auntie Nat, are you ready to sing the blessing song? Sure. 27:06 Are you ready children? 27:07 Turn around. 27:10 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill your heart with love¤ 27:24 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤ 27:36 ¤As Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤ 27:46 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed¤ 27:57 ¤Good bye my friend till we meet again¤ 28:01 ¤For another day with the King¤ 28:09 Bye bye, Bye, see you next Sabbath. 28:12 ¤ ¤ |
