00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:03 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King. 00:07 ¤ ¤ 00:52 Hello there. I'm Auntie Cecily. 00:54 We're about to open the Sabbath. 00:56 Come and join us as we meet with 00:58 the King. Hello Auntie Nat. It's good to see you here again too. 01:02 It's great to be here. 01:04 Hello boys and girls. We're glad you're all here to help us to 01:08 meet with the King as well. And hello Teddy. You're looking 01:12 very quiet and ready for a Sabbath day's rest as well. 01:15 Auntie Nat, can you please say a prayer for us to welcome in 01:20 our Sabbath. 01:22 Sure. Dear Lord, we thank and praise Your name for who You 01:25 are and what you've done for us. We thank you for dying on the 01:29 cross for us so that we can be forgiven for our sins when we 01:32 ask. And we just thank you for the beautiful Sabbath where we 01:35 can rest in you. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen. 01:38 Amen. Do you know it's a great time to reflect on our week 01:43 and count the blessings that God has sent us. Sarah, is there 01:48 something that's happened that you can thank God for? 01:50 Yes. Well my dad works in Queens- land and he has to travel up there. 01:54 And there've been lots of things happening in the air at the 01:58 moment with planes and so we were a bit worried that when 02:02 flew up there something could have happened. But luckily we 02:05 got word from him now that he's up there safely and we're glad 02:08 that he's up there safely and God was with him. 02:10 Oh yes that's very good isn't it? Auntie Cecily you have a 02:15 blessing to share with us as well. 02:18 Yes. We've been getting to know who God is over these past weeks 02:23 and we know now that God is our Deliverer and God is holy and 02:27 God is the I Am and God is compassionate and God is our 02:31 Provider and God is Love and God is a God of order and a God 02:36 of mercy and is sacrificial. That's a big word isn't it? 02:41 God's also our Creator and He's long-suffering. Remember we said 02:45 long-suffering means that He's patient. So now I 'm going to 02:50 add one more. God is trustworthy Later on in our Bible study 02:54 we're going to learn how the children of Israel lost their 02:58 trust in God. God had spent all this time, up until now in our 03:03 studies, building up the Israelites trust in Him. He 03:06 brought them out of Egypt and through the Red Sea and He gave 03:11 them victory over the Egyptians and He provided them food to eat 03:15 and water to drink and He protected them. And He showed 03:19 up in great glory on Mount Sinai and He spoke the 10 commandments 03:24 to them. And He dwelt among them in the sanctuary. But their 03:29 trust crumbled in God when they had to make a big decision. They 03:34 forgot who God was, and Proverbs tells us trust in God and not to 03:39 lean to our own understanding. That's what happened to the 03:44 children of Israel time and time again. They made choices in what 03:49 they thought was right instead of trusting God. As humans we 03:53 can get ourselves into a bit of a pickle when we don't trust God 03:57 can't we? So let's remember God is trustworthy. 04:01 Amen. Thank you Auntie Cecily. Do you know another way that we 04:05 can worship God on the Sabbath is through song, and guess what? 04:10 We have Pastor Rick here again. Thanks Pastor Rick. 04:12 Hi Auntie Nat. Hello children. 04:15 Let's sing In My Heart There Rings a Melody. 05:27 Pastor Rick can we please sing I Have Decided to Follow Jesus? 05:33 Yes, we can. 06:20 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's lovely to praise God in song. Now it's 06:26 time to see what blessing Dr. John has got for us this week. 06:30 Let's go and have a look at that shall we? 06:32 ¤ ¤Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond and welcome 06:41 to Sunnyside, the Australian home of Mrs. Ellen G. White. 06:45 I have some interesting stories for you. Just come inside with 06:49 me. You're going to like this. 06:54 Hello boys and girls. Welcome back to Sunnyside. The house has 06:57 so many memories. I've got some interesting things to show you. 07:02 In fact, I think we'll start at the kitchen. Come with me. ¤ ¤ 07:08 Boys and girls this is the kitchen. This is where all the 07:18 action was in the house, after the workroom. Where's the stove? 07:22 No stove because houses used to burn down. The cook house 07:27 was outside. The washing machine? Well that is the 07:30 washing machine there; you rubbed your clothes on that. 07:33 You always had a kettle going on a little stove and that was 07:37 in the next room. But there was a secret room in this house 07:41 and some people aren't sure whether it was Ellen White's 07:45 prayer room. But many people want to come and pray in Ellen 07:49 White's prayer room. Did you know it existed? Come over here 07:54 and I'll show you. ¤ ¤ If you'd like to come and have a look. 08:00 Isn't that a cozy little room to come and say your prayers. 08:05 And even now people say, Can we go into the secret prayer room 08:09 even though we're not sure that it was Ellen White's prayer room 08:13 it's still is a lovely room to visit and to pray. Now if you 08:17 come with me we're going to have a look at the room next door. ¤ ¤ 08:22 Children, welcome to the happiest room in the whole 08:29 house. This is the dining room. This is where people sat and ate 08:34 and laughed and prayed and I don't think Ellen had many meals 08:38 on her own. She always had visitors plus the kids just like 08:42 you. Now Ella I'm wondering whether you could be my guest. 08:46 This table is rather expensive now even though it's very old. 08:50 Have a seat and I'll put the seat in like a gentleman. Now 08:55 have we got. Would you like some crocodile soup? No I think 09:00 the soup was probably lentil with onion and a bit of 09:04 of potato. Wouldn't that be beautiful. Which was the soup 09:08 spoon? That one. And what's the main course? Probably patties 09:13 and corn and beans and peas, all the things that they grew here. 09:18 And so many people who are now dead but they all remembered 09:22 that Ellen White was a wonderful hostess and always 09:26 had people sitting at her table. And now we're going to finish 09:30 off by walking around the outside of Sunnyside. There's 09:33 some very interesting things to see. Follow me. ¤ ¤ Well boys 09:42 and girls, welcome to the South Sea Islands Museum, very 09:46 interesting. We'll show you some time. But this is an historic 09:50 spot because Ellen White would write inside, but sometimes on a 09:54 lovely sunny day she would come out here with a chair and a 09:58 writing board and she would write, not under this tree but 10:02 maybe this tree's grandson because the original pine tree 10:07 had gone and she wrote one of her most important books apart 10:11 from the Bible probably more people have been won to Jesus 10:16 by reading the Desire of Ages. It is just a fabulous book. And 10:20 she sat here and she wrote a large portion of it here. Now I 10:25 want you to come with me ¤ ¤ Boys and girls we have arrived 10:30 at the back and this is the well or the cistern. They had a lot 10:35 of water problems here and they dug this over 90 years ago. You 10:38 can't fall down there because they've sealed it off. We don't 10:42 to lose any visitors here, but this was a very important part. 10:46 Somebody would come out that door several times a day just to 10:50 fill up the bucket. No taps to turn on. But come with me and 10:54 I'll show you where the bake house was. It's over here. ¤ ¤ 10:58 Boys and girls, we're at the very back of the back yard of 11:02 Sunnyside and this is where they did their cooking. Right away 11:06 so the house wouldn't burn on fire. Which would you prefer? 11:09 To slave away in the bake house or be the person to go out in 11:12 the street and get the ice and the cool water. I think you 11:15 would have gone for the water. This would have been very, very 11:19 hot on a summer's day like this, but this is where they did all 11:23 their cooking. Life was a lot different 100 years ago here at 11:27 Sunnyside. I hope you've enjoyed your tour of Sunnyside. I'd love 11:31 you to come back. And come and visit the museum as well. It's 11:34 been such a wonderful time. Thank you boys and girls. 11:36 Hi boys and girls. Happy Sabbath Welcome to our Bible study. Have 11:41 you got your Bibles ready? I hope you have because you can 11:44 read along with us. Aunt Cecily can you please say a prayer for 11:48 us to open our Bible study. 11:50 Dear Father, thank you for the blessing of our Bibles. We just 11:55 pray that You would be with us as we study our Bibles and we 11:59 just ask a blessing on the boys and girls that they might learn 12:04 and understand and love to follow your word. 12:06 In Jesus' name. Amen. 12:09 Amen. Now do you remember last Sabbath we spoke a lot about 12:12 how the Israelites complained a lot and the consequences that 12:16 happened because of that. And we learned that we need to trust 12:19 God more, didn't we? Mmm. God knows best. Okay. So the 12:24 the children of Israel had now come to the border of the 12:28 promised land at a place called Kadesh in the wilderness of 12:32 Paran. And Auntie Cecily is just going to point to that area on 12:36 map. And Ella you're going to be the first to read in 12:39 Numbers 13:1-2 please. 12:45 And the Lord spoke to Moses saying, send men to spy out the 12:48 land of Canaan which I have given to the children of Israel. 12:53 From each tribe of their fathers you shall send a man, 12:57 everyone a leader among them. 12:58 So God wants Moses to send 12 spies out into the land of 13:02 Canaan. Nick, can you please read for us Numbers 13:17-20. 13:08 Then Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan and said to 13:12 them, Go up this way and to the south and go up to the mountains 13:17 and see what the land is like, whether the people who dwell 13:22 in it are strong or weak, few or many; whether the land they 13:27 dwell in is good or bad; whether the cities they inhabit are like 13:31 camps or strongholds; whether the land is rich or poor and 13:37 whether there are forests or not. Be of good courage and 13:42 bring some fruit out of the land Now the time was the season of 13:46 the first ripe grapes. 13:47 So Moses wants to find out as much as possible about the land 13:53 before they go in. Elijah, can you read Numbers 13:23 and 25 13:59 please. 14:01 Then they came to the Valley of Eshcol and there cut down a 14:05 branch with one cluster of grapes. They carried it between 14:09 two of them on a pole. They also brought some of the pomegranates 14:13 and figs and they returned from spying out the land after 14:17 forty days. 14:19 Wow. So we just read they brought back a cluster of grapes 14:23 held between two men. Auntie Cecily's got a picture there to 14:27 show you what they may have looked like. We know that a 14:31 normal bunch of grapes like we buy in the supermarket today, 14:34 you can see them on the table and they're normally very small 14:38 aren't they. But this was really big. It was pretty amazing. The 14:42 spies told them that the land of Canaan flowed with milk and 14:46 honey which means the land was very productive and fertile. 14:50 Let's see what else they have to report. Kate can you please 14:53 read for us Numbers 13:28-32. 14:57 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong, 15:02 the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover we saw the 15:07 descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of 15:11 the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites and the Amorites dwell 15:16 in the mountains and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and 15:20 on the banks of the Jordan. Then Caleb quieted the people before 15:25 Moses and said, Let us go up at once and take possession for we 15:31 are well able to overcome it. But the men who had gone out 15:34 with him said, We are not able to go up against the people for 15:38 they are stronger than we and they gave the children of Israel 15:42 a bad report of the land which they had spied out saying, The 15:46 land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours 15:50 its inhabitants and all the people whom we saw in it are men 15:54 of great stature. 15:56 Thanks Kate. 15:58 So Caleb trusted God and had confidence that He would help 16:02 them to come into possession of the land. But the other spies, 16:06 what sort of report did they give? Bad report. Bad report 16:09 saying the land was full of fortified cities and giants that 16:13 would devour them. So let's see what happens next. Dean, can you 16:17 read for us Numbers 14:1-2 and 4-5, please. 16:22 So all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried and the 16:29 people wept that night and all the children of Israel 16:31 complained against Moses and Aaron and the whole congregation 16:35 said to them, If only we had died in the land of Egypt or if 16:40 only we had died in this wilderness. So they said to one 16:44 another, Let us elect a leader and return to Egypt. Then Moses 16:49 and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the 16:54 congregation of the children of Israel. 16:57 So sad story; the children lost their trust and faith in God and 17:01 they started complaining again against the leadership of Moses 17:06 and Aaron. Anna you have our next reading: Numbers 14:6-10 17:10 please. 17:12 But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh who 17:18 were among those who had spied out the land tore their clothes 17:24 and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of 17:29 Israel saying, The land we have passed through to spy is an 17:36 exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us then He will 17:39 bring us into the land and give it to us, a land which flows 17:44 with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the Lord nor fear 17:49 the people of the land for they are our bread; their protection 17:54 has departed from them and the Lord is with us. Do not fear 17:59 them. And all the congregation said to stone them with stones. 18:05 Now the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of 18:10 meeting before all the children of Israel. 18:15 Thanks Anna. So Joshua and Caleb were the only two spies out of 18:19 12 that stood firm with their faithful report. They believed 18:24 and trust that God would deliver them. Now we read in verse 10 18:28 that the people went up to stone Joshua and Caleb because they 18:33 were so angry with them for being faithful. But God showed 18:38 up with His glory and power through a flaming light in the 18:41 sanctuary. The people who were about to stone them ran away 18:45 and Joshua and Caleb were saved by God. Let's look at our Torch 18:48 Light, Mrs. White's writings, to see what they shine on these 18:52 verses that we have read. Ella you're going to read our Torch 18:55 Light today. Can you do that for us please. 19:01 The people did not wait to 19:04 reflect. They did not reason 19:07 that He who had brought them thus far would certainly give 19:10 them the land. They did not call to mind how wonderfully God had 19:14 delivered them from their oppressors cutting a path 19:17 through the sea and destroying the pursuing hosts of Pharaoh. 19:21 They left God out of the question and acted as though 19:25 they must depend solely on the powers of arms. In their 19:28 unbelief they limited the power of God. 19:31 Wow. That is such an important lesson for us to learn from the 19:35 children of Israel that we should not lose our trust and 19:39 faith in God no matter what is going on. Let's read our memory 19:42 verse together. And that's found in Isaiah 26:4. 19:48 Isaiah 26:4. You ready? 19:52 Trust in the Lord forever. 19:55 Okay, let's see what happens next. Aunt Cecily can you please 20:01 read Numbers 14:11-12. 20:04 Then the Lord said to Moses, How long will these people reject Me 20:10 and how long will they not believe me with all the signs 20:15 which I have performed among them. I will strike them with 20:20 the pestilence and disinherit them and I will make of you a 20:24 nation greater and mightier than they. 20:32 So God is not happy. He wants to disinherit the Israelites. Oh 20:35 dear. Doesn't sound too good does it. Let's see what Moses 20:38 does. Nick, can you please read for us Numbers 14:19-20. 20:43 Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the 20:47 greatness of Your mercy just as you have forgiven this people 20:52 from Egypt even until now. Then the Lord said, I have pardoned 20:57 according to your word. 20:58 So Moses interceded again for the children of Israel and God 21:04 forgave them. God is so good. But there were some consequences 21:09 to their rebellion. Elijah, can you please read Numbers 14:29-31 21:15 The carcasses of you who have complained against me shall fall 21:19 in this wilderness. All of you who were numbered according to 21:24 your entire number from 20 years old and above, except for Caleb 21:30 the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no 21:34 means enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in. 21:39 But your little ones whom you said would be victims, I will 21:43 bring in and they shall know the land which you have despised. 21:47 Okay. Thanks Elijah. Kate can you read for us 21:52 Numbers 14:34-37 please. 21:55 According to the number of the days in which you spied out the 22:01 land, 40 days, for every day you shall bear your guilt one year, 22:06 namely 40 years you shall know my rejection. I, the Lord, have 22:11 spoken this. I will surely do so to all this evil congregation 22:15 who are gathered together against me. In this wilderness 22:20 they shall be consumed and there they shall die. Now the men whom 22:25 Moses sent to spy out the land who returned and made all the 22:29 congregation complain against him by bringing a bad report 22:33 on the land, those very men who brought the evil report about 22:37 the land died by the plague before the Lord. 22:41 Thanks Kate. So God is turning them back into the desert for 22:45 40 years. Everyone above 20 years old will die in the desert 22:49 Only the children below 20 years of age and Joshua and Caleb will 22:55 enter into the promised land. As we read in verse 37, the 22:59 other 10 spies who gave a bad report died of the plague 23:02 because of their unfaithfulness. It's very sobering, isn't it? 23:07 After all this happened God wanted to provide evidence to 23:10 prove to the entire encampment that Aaron was God's chosen 23:14 servant to serve as high priest. God asked Moses to collect a rod 23:19 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel, put their names on them 23:23 and place them in the tabernacle before the Lord. Anna can you 23:28 please read for us Numbers 17:8-10. 23:31 Now it came to pass on the next day that Moses went into the 23:36 tabernacle of Witness and behold the rod of Aaron of the house of 23:41 Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms and 23:45 yielded ripe almonds. The Moses brought out all the rods from 23:50 before the Lord to all the children of Israel and they 23:54 looked and each man took his rod. And the Lord said to Moses, 23:59 Bring Aaron's rod back before the testimony to be kept as a 24:03 sign against the rebels that ye may put their complaints away 24:07 from Me lest they die. 24:09 Wow. So Aaron's rod budded as proof that God had ordained 24:15 Aaron to 24:16 the priesthood. In verse 10 it tells us that Aaron's budded rod 24:19 was to go into the Ark of the Covenant. And remember when we 24:22 showed you what was in the Ark of the Covenant, it was the 24:25 10 commandments, the pot of manna and Aaron's budded rod. 24:28 The children of Israel lost sight of God's leading many 24:32 times. They rebelled again and again, but each time Moses 24:35 interceded on their behalf to save them from utter destruction 24:39 despite all their murmuring and complaining God still took care 24:43 of them. Thank you boys and girls for being with us today. 24:46 God loves you so much. Rebelling against God only leads to a lot 24:50 of trouble as we found out in our study today. We need to 24:54 trust God more that He knows best. You can download our 24:57 seven day devotional which goes into more detail on what we 25:01 studied today. Here's how you can do just that. 25:04 Hey boys and girls, like Auntie Nat said you can go onto our 25:09 website to access our daily devotionals at 25:11 www.adaywiththeking.com and while you're there you can 25:15 also check out Teddy's blog. He's posted some really cool 25:19 photos of us making the show. He also talks about it as well. 25:24 He even posted about his visit to the vet. So hop online today. 25:28 When we keep the Sabbath day like God asks us to, we're 25:33 saying that God is our King. Joshua and Caleb also made a 25:38 decision to choose God to be their King. Reading our Bibles 25:42 helps us to make the right choices in life and to know 25:46 whom we should serve. The Sabbath's a great time to spend 25:50 in reading our Bibles, but God also wants us to read our Bibles 25:53 every day. Auntie Nat, what are we going to study about in our 25:59 Bibles next Sabbath? 26:00 Yes, next Sabbath is an important one. We'll be 26:03 learning how God does keep His promises and we'll also be 26:07 looking at Moses' and God's relationship. Do you know that 26:10 they were best friends. God can be your best friend too, so I 26:16 don't want you to miss out on next week. Do make sure you come 26:19 back. Auntie Cecily will we look at our memory verse that we 26:22 learnt today in our study. 26:23 Yes, we've got an easy one to learn today. 26:25 Let's read it together children. 26:27 Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the Lord forever. 26:33 Amen. That's a good one to learn. Auntie Nat, are you ready 26:37 to sing our blessing song. Children, do you want to 26:39 turn around and sing to the boys and girls at home? 26:42 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill you heart with love¤ 26:59 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch from above¤ 27:09 ¤As Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤ 27:19 ¤The day the king of glory has sanctified and blessed¤ 27:29 ¤Good bye my friends till we meet again¤ 27:34 ¤For another day with the King¤ 27:41 Good bye, good bye See you next Sabbath. 27:43 ¤ ¤ |
