00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:03 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King. 00:06 ¤ ¤ 00:52 Hello, I'm Auntie Nat. It's great that you could all join us 00:55 to meet with the King. We're about to open the Sabbath. Come 00:57 and join our worship time 00:58 together. Auntie Cecily it's so 01:01 good that you're here with us today. 01:02 I'm delighted to be here Auntie Nat. 01:04 And hello children. It's wonderful that you're here with 01:08 us to help us welcome in the King for the Sabbath. And hello 01:11 Teddy. It's lovely that you've joined us again today. You're 01:14 so good. 01:15 Yes he is. 01:17 Oh. Auntie Cecily can you say a prayer for us to open our 01:19 worship time. 01:21 Yes. Dear heavenly Father, thank you for keeping us safe through 01:25 another week. And thank you for the Sabbath where we can rest 01:28 in You. And we pray a blessing on all the boys and girls who 01:32 have joined us. In Jesus' name. Amen. 01:35 Amen. Do you know that this is a great time to reflect on our 01:39 week and count the many blessings God has sent us. 01:42 And Ella, you have a blessing to share with us. 01:45 I'm thankful to God that when I broke my arm it didn't break 01:50 severely. 01:52 It didn't break all the way through did it? Yeah, it was a 01:54 greenstick so it healed a lot quicker and you didn't need an 01:58 operation. Yeah so that was a good blessing wasn't it. Okay 02:01 thanks. Auntie Cecily, you have a blessing to share with us too 02:04 about our amazing God. 02:07 Yes. We've been on quite a journey these past 13 Sabbaths 02:11 getting to know who God is. We found out that God is our 02:16 Deliverer. God is holy. God is the I Am. He is compassionate 02:21 or caring and God is love and He is our Provider. And He's a God 02:26 of order and a God of mercy and He's sacrificial. God is 02:31 also our Creator. He's long- suffering and He's trustworthy. 02:36 Today is special because I'm going to add two more. God 02:42 keeps His promises and God can be our very best friend. Later 02:46 on in our study we're going to see how God kept His promise 02:51 to the children of Israel. The Bible tells us that God is 02:56 faithful in keeping His promises We can trust in God's word. 03:02 Matthew 24 tells us that God's words will never pass away. If 03:07 God promises, He will deliver. We've also discovered in 03:12 previous Bible studies that Abraham was a friend of God. 03:16 We've been studying that Moses also had a special relationship 03:21 with God. God spoke to Moses face to face like a friend. 03:27 John 15 tells us that Jesus wants to be our friend as well. 03:32 Jesus promises that if we keep His commandments, He will call 03:38 us His friend. When we get to know God and who He is and what 03:43 He's done for us, it draws us closer to Him. We've learnt many 03:49 things about God but the one thing I want you to remember 03:53 most of all is that God who's the King of the Universe and 03:57 angels worship Him day and night in adoration and praise and it's 04:03 lovely mystery that He also wants to be your best friend. 04:08 Amen. Isn't that a wonderful thing that God can be our best 04:11 friend. Thank you Auntie Cecily for sharing that blessing with 04:14 us. Do you know another way that we can grow closer to God is to 04:21 worship Him in song. And guess what? We've got Pastor Rick here 04:23 again. Thanks Pastor Rick. 04:25 It's terrific to be here, Auntie 04:28 Nat. Welcome children and I'm 04:30 thinking we might sing that song God is My Best Friend. 05:55 Pastor Rick, could we please sing Give Your Heart to Jesus? 06:00 I think this is probably the most beautiful song we can 06:04 sing, don't you think? Yeah. It's a great song. 06:42 Let's sing it again. ¤ ¤ 07:24 Thanks Pastor Rick. We really enjoy your company and your 07:28 music in our worship time. Now Dr. John has another lovely 07:31 blessing to share with us. Let's go and see one more. 07:36 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond and we are at 07:40 Sunnyside and we're about to leave and to do some exploring 07:44 and we're going to find something very, very interesting 07:48 Just come with me and we'll go looking. ¤ ¤ 07:56 Hello boys and girls. Welcome back. I'm Dr. John and you are 08:01 with me in the Ellen G. White Seventh-day Adventist Research 08:06 Center at Avondale College. And this room has some wonderful 08:10 stuff. There are photos. And in that room there is a copy of 08:15 every letter, every article, every book that she ever wrote. 08:20 Here is a present that was given to Pastor and Mrs. White. 08:24 It is a very old clock and it's so valuable that we don't even 08:29 wind it up. It shows the time, the day of the week, the month 08:33 and the day of the month. And she had a clock a little bit 08:37 like this. The day that she died over in America and when she 08:42 died, she died at 3:40 in the afternoon on Friday, 16th of 08:47 July 1915. And Mary her nurse when she saw that Mrs. White was 08:52 dead she went over and she opened the little door at the 08:58 bottom and she stopped the pendulum and it has never moved 09:03 since then. Almost a hundred years. So we keep this clock 09:08 very, very carefully. Now over here, if you'd like to follow me 09:14 It's not really a little Bible. You couldn't fit it in your 09:20 pocket. In fact, it weighs nearly nine kilograms or 18 09:26 pounds and this is an exact copy of the Bible that Ellen held in 09:31 her hand for 30 minutes. I couldn't hold it in my hand for 09:35 three minutes like that even if you paid me a million dollars. 09:40 Chenae, hold out your arm, just one, underneath. Are you ready. 09:47 Leave the other arm still. It is so heavy. And that is a very 09:52 precious part of the center here. In fact, you're allowed to 09:56 touch it but most of the time nobody is allowed to touch this 10:01 Bible, it is so precious to us. Boys and girls I've got two 10:05 special visitors and they're coming here to meet you. 10:07 If you'd just like to walk over in here. These two people know 10:12 more about Mrs. White I think than anybody in the whole world. 10:17 This is Dr. Skrzypaszek and Mrs. de Berg. 10:19 Hello boys and girls. It's nice 10:21 to have you with us. Let me 10:23 take you inside the heart of the research center and we'll share 10:28 with you some exciting stories and show you some letters 10:32 written by Ellen White and a few other stories. So let's walk in. 10:38 Hello, Ellen White wrote a lot of letters and papers and 10:44 periodicals in her time. She often rose about 3 a. m. and she 10:48 would start writing. This is one of her letters to her children 10:55 written in 1900. She says, Dear children. Now when we open a 11:00 lot of periodicals they're printed in books like this and 11:04 bigger and they take up a lot of room. So they have microfiche 11:11 now and we can fit several volumes on one piece of 11:15 microfiche. See each one of these pages is one page and 11:19 this is microfilm and it's the same; it works the same way. 11:24 See each one of these little slots is one page so you can 11:29 imagine how much room we save by having these sources on 11:34 microfiche and microfilm. So I'm going to hand you over to 11:39 Dr. John now and he has something to show you. 11:43 Well you know it's was very very interesting. Ellen White was a 11:48 very, very special person. She received approximately 2000 11:53 visions from God. And God said to her, Please talk to my people 11:57 And we have all the letters and manuscripts that she wrote 12:01 and some quite interesting. She wrote to her children, to her 12:04 family and to the church people at lunch. One day I was 12:08 sitting in my office and I said to myself I wonder what did she 12:13 say in her last letter to the church written in 1914. Let me 12:17 give you for example. This a letter and she said something 12:22 like this: Be faithful, never doubt in God for He loves you. 12:28 Put your trust and confidence in your heavenly Father. God is 12:33 waiting to show all His blessings. 12:35 It is your privilege to trust in the love of Jesus. 12:40 And you know what I have discovered that she was 12:43 so passionately in love with Jesus that people often heard 12:47 her say, Oh Jesus how I love You Oh Jesus how I love You. 12:51 Well boys and girls and all my friends, boys and girls right 12:55 around the world, today you have visited the Ellen G. White 13:01 Seventh-day Adventist Research Center. The lady who wrote more 13:05 books and more words than any other lady who has ever lived. 13:10 Thank you for coming. 13:12 Hi boys and girls. Happy Sabbath Welcome to our Bible study. 13:15 I hope you have your Bibles ready to read along with us. 13:18 Come and join us. Nick, can you please say a prayer for us 13:22 before we open our Bible reading? 13:24 Dear Father, We thank you for keeping your promises. Thank you 13:28 for our Bibles and please be with the children today as they 13:31 study Your word. In Jesus' name Amen. 13:35 Amen. Nick, do you remember what we studied about last Sabbath. 13:39 The 12 spies. 13:40 And who were the two spies that were faithful? 13:43 Caleb and Joshua. 13:45 Were the children of Israel allowed to go into the promised 13:48 land? No. No they weren't. They didn't trust God, did they? How 13:51 many years did they have to go back into the wilderness? Forty. 13:54 Forty years. So we're going to begin our study today back at 13:58 the borders of Canaan. The children of Israel had spent 14:01 their time in the wilderness where God had been working on 14:05 their hearts and minds in preparation for them to enter 14:08 the promised land. And Auntie Cecily, I might just get you to 14:13 show the children where Kadesh is. Thank you. And you can see 14:17 the blue circular line where they wandered around for 40 14:20 years. And God, it looks like, is going to take them on a 14:23 different route up into the land of Canaan. You can see the green 14:27 line there and we'll study more about that shortly. Okay, Ella, 14:31 can you please read our first reading for us in Numbers 20:2-6 14:35 Now there was no water for the congregation so they gathered 14:40 together against Moses and Aaron and the people contended with 14:44 Moses and spoke saying, If only we had died when our brothers 14:50 died before the Lord. Why have you brought up the assembly of 14:55 the Lord into the wilderness that we and our animals should 15:00 die here and why have you let us come out of Egypt to bring 15:05 us to this evil place? It is not a place of grain or figs or 15:11 vines or pomegranates nor is there any water to drink. 15:14 So Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to 15:20 the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and they fell on their 15:25 faces and the glory of the Lord appeared to them. 15:27 Thanks Ella. So there is no water and the children of Israel 15:32 are complaining again to Moses and Aaron. And they went into 15:36 the sanctuary to pray to God. Let's see what God tells them. 15:40 Nick can you please read for us Numbers 20:7-12. 15:45 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, take the rod, you and 15:49 your brother Aaron. Gather the congregation together. Speak to 15:53 the Rock before their eyes and it will yield its water. 15:56 Thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock and give 16:00 a drink to the congregation and their animals. So Moses took 16:04 the rod from before the Lord as He commanded him and Moses and 16:08 Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock. And 16:13 he said to them, Hear now you rebels, must we bring water for 16:17 you out of this rock. Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the 16:22 rock twice with his rod and water came out abundantly and 16:27 the congregation and the animals drank. Then the Lord spoke to 16:31 Moses and Aaron, Because you did not believe Me, you hallowed me in 16:34 the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore, you shall 16:38 not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them. 16:43 Wow. So in verse eight God asked Moses to speak to the rock. In 16:47 verse 10, Moses says, Must we bring water for you out of this 16:52 rock. Did they provide the water or did God provide the water? 16:56 God. God, yes God did and in verse 11 Moses struck the rock 17:01 twice. Moses wasn't supposed to strike to rock but speak to it 17:05 like God asked him to. So we read in verse 12 that God tells 17:10 Moses and Aaron because of their sin they were not to lead the 17:14 Israelites into the promised land. That seems a bit harsh 17:17 doesn't it? Moses and Aaron when they are very old men that had 17:21 put up with a lot. The children of Israel had complained and 17:25 rebelled for 40 years. Moses had lost his patience and with anger 17:29 struck the rock. Moses had dishonored God. Moses and Aaron 17:33 repented immediately and God forgave them, but God could not 17:37 take away the consequences of their sin. Let's have a look at 17:41 our Torch Light, Mrs. White's writings, to see what they shine 17:44 on what we've just read. Nick you're going to read that for 17:47 us, thank you. 17:49 But when it was declared that 17:58 because of that one sin Moses and Aaron were not to enter 18:02 Canaan, the people knew that God is no respecter of persons 18:07 and that He will surely punish the transgressor. The fact that 18:11 Moses had enjoyed so great light and knowledge made his sin more 18:17 grievous. Past faithfulness will not atone for one wrong act. 18:22 The greater light and privileges granted to a man, the greater is 18:27 his responsibility. 18:30 Mmm. So that's very sobering. So that is telling us that even 18:34 God's servant Moses who had been so obedient and faithful was not 18:38 immune or had special protection from God from the consequences 18:42 of sin. So God asked Moses to do something. Elijah, can you 18:47 please read Numbers 20:25-29. 18:50 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son and bring them up to Mount Hor 18:56 and strip Aaron of his garments and put them on Eleazar his son 19:01 for Aaron shall be gathered to his people and die there. So 19:06 Moses did just as the Lord commanded and they went up to 19:10 Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation. Moses stripped 19:15 Aaron of his garments and put them on Eleazar his son and 19:19 Aaron died there on top of the mountain. Then Moses and 19:22 Eleazar came down from the mountain. Now when all the 19:26 congregation saw that Aaron was dead, all the house of Israel 19:29 mourned for Aaron thirty days. 19:32 So Aaron died. He was 123 years old. His son Eleazar took his 19:38 place as high priest. Moses felt his loss greatly. Aaron had been 19:43 his constant companion for the past 40 years. Moses now leaned 19:48 more heavily on God his best friend. God can become our 19:53 friend too. Let's read our memory verse together. It's in 19:58 John 15:14. Go to that and we'll read that together. 20:03 You ready? 20:08 You are my friends if you do whatever I command you. 20:14 That's an amazing promise isn't it? Okay now we're going to go 20:18 to the book of Deuteronomy. This is the fifth book that Moses 20:23 wrote. Now we're going to go to Deuteronomy 7. We'll go to 20:28 Deuteronomy 7 and Kate you're going to read for us 20:31 Deuteronomy 7:6-8 and 11. 20:36 For you are a holy people to the Lord your God. The Lord your God 20:41 has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure 20:46 above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The Lord did 20:51 not set His love on you nor choose you because you were 20:56 more in number than any other people for you were the least 21:01 of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you and because He 21:06 would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers the Lord 21:11 has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you 21:14 from the house of bondage from the hand of Pharaoh the King of 21:18 Egypt. Therefore, you shall keep the commandment, the statutes, 21:22 and the judgments which I command you today to 21:26 observe them. 21:27 Thanks Kate. So Moses was again reminding them that the children 21:30 of Israel were a special people that God had chosen to reflect 21:34 God's character to all nations and not to forget what God had 21:38 done for them. Okay Ben you're going to read 21:41 Deuteronomy 18:9-14 for us please. 21:45 When you come into the land which the Lord your God is 21:49 giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of 21:53 those nations. They shall not be found among you anyone who makes 21:56 his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who 22:00 practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer or one who interprets 22:04 omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells or a medium or a 22:09 spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these 22:12 things are an abomination to the Lord and because of these 22:16 abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you. 22:21 You shall be blameless before the Lord your God. For these 22:25 nations which you will dispossess listen to soothsayers 22:28 and diviners but as for you the Lord your God has not appointed 22:32 such for you. 22:33 So these were the things that the people who lived in Canaan 22:37 did. God did not want them to be influenced by it as it was an 22:41 abomination to God. Who do you think was responsible for all 22:45 these activities? Satan. Satan, yes. And they are all a 22:49 counterfeit to God. We're now going to go to the last chapter 22:53 of Deuteronomy, can you find that, chapter 34. So before the 22:57 children went into the promised land God tells Moses to climb 23:01 Mount Nebo. Aunt Cecily I might get you to point out Mount Nebo 23:06 on the map. See it way up there. So God wanted to show Moses the 23:11 land of Canaan laid out before him because Moses could only 23:16 see it from afar. The Lord also reminds Moses the He kept His 23:21 promise of bringing them to the land He had promised Abraham, 23:24 Isaac and Jacob. Ella, you're going to read for us please 23:28 Deuteronomy 34:5-8. 23:32 So Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in the land of 23:35 Moab according to the word of the Lord and He buried him in 23:39 the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth Peor, but no one 23:43 knows his grave to this day. Moses was 120 years old when he 23:49 died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished. And 23:54 the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab 30 23:58 days and the days of weeping and mourning for Moses ended. 24:02 Thanks Ella. So Moses was what, how old was he, what did we just 24:07 read? 120. He was 120 years old when he died. The Bible tells us 24:11 that God's angels came down and buried Moses. Mrs. White tells 24:16 us at the bottom of our Remnant Young Scholar Study Bibles that 24:19 Christ came down and raised Moses from the dead and took him 24:23 to heaven. So Moses may not have been able to go into the 24:26 promised land but he went to heaven to be with God his best 24:31 friend forever. Nick, can you please read Deuteronomy 34:10. 24:36 But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like 24:41 Moses whom the Lord knew face to face. 24:44 Thanks Nick. Do you remember our very first memory verse way 24:48 back about the faithfulness of Moses' parents in hiding Moses? 24:52 Do you remember what the Pharaoh wanted to do? Where did 24:55 he want to throw the baby boys? In the river. In the River Nile. 24:59 Do you think the faithfulness of his parents paid off. We just 25:03 read in the Bible that Moses was one of the greatest prophets 25:08 that knew God face to face and his story is here for us to read 25:12 today. We can all learn something from the amazing life 25:16 of Moses. Thank you boys and girls for following along with 25:20 us as we have read from Exodus to Deuteronomy. God loves you 25:24 very much and wants to be your friend too. Remember to read 25:28 your Bibles every day. You can trust His word and know that God 25:32 does keep his promises. We have a seven day devotional that 25:36 covers today's study. Here's how you can get it. 25:39 Hey boys and girls, like Auntie Nat said you can go on to our 25:44 website to access our daily devotionals at 25:46 www.adaywiththeking.com And while you're there you can 25:50 also check out Teddy's blog. He's posted some really cool 25:54 photos of us making the show. He also talks about it as well. 25:58 He even posted about his visit to the vet. So hop online today. 26:03 When we read our Bibles we get to know God as our friend. God 26:08 wants His friends to spend eternity with Him. God wants you 26:12 to read your Bibles every day so He can communicate with you 26:16 and tell you how much He loves you. Do you know Auntie Nat, 26:21 we've learnt so much about God during this past 13 Sabbaths 26:26 Yes we have. We've been on an incredible journey. God is 26:30 amazing. He's the King of kings and the Lord of lords, He is the 26:34 I Am, He is the beginning and the end and God is mighty to 26:38 save. He's a holy God. But the beautiful thing is that He can 26:43 be your best friend. Ask Him into your hearts today. Aunt 26:47 Cecily shall we go over our memory verse that we learnt in 26:51 our Bible study? 26:52 Yes. Children we're going to read it together. 26:55 John 15:14-You are my friends if you do whatever I command you 27:01 Auntie Nat, are you ready to sing our blessing song to the 27:07 Yes. Children can you turn around so that we can sing that 27:10 to the children at home? 27:13 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill your heart with love¤ 27:28 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤ 27:39 ¤As Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤ 27:50 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed¤ 28:00 ¤Good bye my friends till we meet again¤ 28:04 ¤For another day with the King¤ 28:10 Good bye, good bye Happy Sabbath. 28:14 ¤ ¤ |
