00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:03 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King. 00:05 ¤ ¤ 00:54 Hello everyone. Hello Auntie Nat 00:56 Hello Auntie Cecily are you 00:58 excited about our worship time today? 01:00 Oh yes I am. And I know the girls and boys here are excited 01:03 about all the children who are watching at home. Aren't you? 01:05 Yes. Now Auntie Nat, I know you want to say a big hello to 01:10 someone who watches our program each week. 01:13 Yes I do. I want to say a big hello to Kevin from Galway. 01:16 Hi Kevin. 01:19 Auntie Nat, where's Galway? 01:21 Ah Galway is in Ireland. Isn't it wonderful. We have kids from 01:25 all around the world joining us. If you're joining in on our 01:27 worship time drop us a line to 01:30 to tell us where you are from. Our address is on the screen 01:33 as to how to contact us. Quick, write it down now. 01:36 Yes we'd love to hear from you. We can't forget to say hello 01:40 to Teddy too. Hello Teddy. It's always nice to have you on the 01:44 lounge with us. Now Bethany would you like to say a prayer 01:47 for us to ask the Lord to be with us in our worship time? 01:51 Yes. Dear Father. Thank you for bringing us safely through 01:55 another week. Thank you for the Sabbath. In Jesus' name. Amen. 01:59 Thanks Bethany. How was your week Auntie Nat? 02:03 I had a great week Auntie Cecily I'm so grateful for God's care 02:06 over my family. How was your week? 02:08 I had a really good week but I always enjoy coming to the 02:11 Sabbath. That's just my favorite day of the week. Now we've got 02:16 our blessing box here. Let's have a look and see how we can 02:20 bless somebody else this week. Anna, would you like to open it 02:24 and read a blessing to us? 02:26 Yes. Visit someone in their home who needs encouragement. 02:31 That's a very thoughtful thing to do. Thank you Anna. Do you 02:36 sometimes visit someone who needs encouragement? Anna when 02:40 you're feeling down what cheers you up? 02:43 When friends encourage me with kind words. 02:46 Oh yes, that's a very nice thing to do isn't it? And how much 02:50 better if we could do that for someone else. We know that that 02:53 would make them feel better too. Yes, encouraging one another 02:57 with kind words is a wonderful blessing. 03:02 I think you have a blessing for us, too, Aunt Cecily to share 03:04 with us. 03:05 I do. Remember last Sabbath we spoke about God preparing a 03:09 place for us in heaven. Now today I want to talk to you 03:13 about how we can prepare for the heavenly promised land. Later in 03:18 our Bible study we're going to learn about how God fought a 03:24 battle for Joshua by bringing down the walls of Jericho. One 03:28 of the main ways we can prepare for heaven is to give our hearts 03:34 to Jesus and to surrender our wills to Him. When we do this, 03:38 God fights our battles for us. As we journey and grow with Him 03:43 we don't need to fear. Just as God sent his angels to pull down 03:48 those walls for Joshua, God will send His angels to protect and 03:52 guide you in your Christian life. I want to leave you with 03:56 another beautiful promise from the Bible, found in 03:59 2 Chronicles 20:15. It says Do not be afraid nor dismayed 04:05 because of this great multitude for the battle is not yours but 04:10 God's. So we encourage you to give your heart to Jesus and to 04:15 believe in God's promises. 04:16 Amen. Thank you Auntie Cecily for sharing that with us. Jesus 04:21 really wants us to give our hearts to Him. Oh Pastor Rick. 04:25 Thank you so much for coming in and sharing your talent with us 04:29 and blessing us with your music. 04:31 Thanks Auntie Nat. Children can 04:33 we sing When We All Get to Heaven? 04:35 Yes. Aw great. 05:12 Pastor Rick can we please sing Trust and Obey? 05:17 We certainly can. 06:01 Pastor Rick can we please sing Rahab Believed? 06:07 Yes, that's a lovely song. 06:53 Thanks Pastor Rick. Singing praise to God in song is just 06:58 such an enjoyable part of our worship. Now it's story time 07:02 again with Dr. John. I wonder what he has for us this time? 07:07 Hello boys and girls. I'm Dr. John and welcome back to story 07:12 time and welcome to all the boys and girls watching everywhere. 07:17 You know long ago our missionaries had to travel 07:21 by boat. Today we can just get on an airplane and go to Fiji 07:25 in four hours, New Guinea is three hours, Samoa in four and a 07:30 half hours. It's so easy. But they used to go by boat and 07:34 we never had a boat. One hundred years ago they decided that they 07:39 would build a special boat to go to the mission fields. And they 07:46 asked somebody to make a model and this here is the original 07:52 architect's model of the Melanesia. Melanesia means black 07:58 people or black places and this boat was to sail. This is one 08:04 hundred years old. My mother found it in the ceiling of a 08:11 house that was being demolished. And she got up and had a look 08:15 around and she saw the mast lying in the corner and she 08:19 thought what's that. And it was the Melanesia. This boat is 100 08:23 years old. You know it used to have a hole in the roof and boys and 08:26 girls used to put pennies in. This boat used to go round all 08:31 the churches. It doesn't look very good because when I got it, 08:35 it was broken in two and I had to glue it back together and a 08:39 very clever man called Mr. Ray Full, he's done all these 08:43 twiddly bits, steering wheel, toilet, this is a cooking stove, 08:48 and this was the cabin and this was the winch and everything 08:53 works. It had a motor underneath and this boat sailed everywhere 08:59 right around the Pacific. It had a wonderful story. It has been 09:05 sunk three time. The first time it was sunk when somebody went 09:11 to the toilet, and here's the toilet here, and underneath was 09:17 a plug. And he was playing around and undid the plug and in 09:23 the morning when they got up and looked at the boat at the dock 09:28 all they could see was the top of the masts. That person who 09:33 went to the toilet wasn't very popular. It sailed to the 09:39 Solomon Islands, it sailed to New Guinea, it sailed to Fiji, 09:44 it sailed to Samoa. It sailed all over the Pacific. They 09:49 wanted a boat that didn't have too much underneath so it would 09:53 catch on reefs and it had to be this long and it had to be that 09:58 wide but it was known to be a bit of a roller. The second time 10:02 it sunk was during the war when the Japanese took it and we 10:07 don't know the story but they fired a cannon at it and it 10:12 made a hole and it sank. Many years ago my grandfather went 10:16 to the Solomon Islands and this is where he got this walking 10:19 stick because they are such good carvers. When he was rowing back 10:24 to the boat it was way out in a lagoon. There was a long, long 10:28 rope attached to the front of the boat and as he was rowing 10:33 as he was rowing Pastor Turner was standing up in the front of 10:37 the boat and he had his arms crossed as though he was the 10:40 captain of the sea and my grandfather was rowing the boat. 10:43 And he could see the long rope going to the coconut tree and he 10:48 knew it would catch Pastor Turner about there. At the last 10:53 minute my Grandpa ducked his head and Pastor Turner said 10:58 What's that. What are you doing? And my grandfather just said 11:03 one word. Shark. And he said that Pastor Turner got back to 11:08 the boat before the rowing boat did. He was so frightened of the 11:13 shark. You know this boat sailed so many times, it was so faithful. 11:17 We're going to hear about the man who was the captain and 11:21 finally it got sunk the third time. It was sold and it went 11:27 to a company in Fiji and he was trying to sail it from Fiji, 11:31 Suva to Condaver Island is it got into a big storm. Anchors 11:36 wouldn't hold and it started to drift backwards and it went 11:40 onto the rocks and it was sunk for the third and the last time. 11:46 So many people learned to love the Lord Jesus because when they 11:51 saw the Melanesia coming along into a lagoon, they said God's 11:56 people are here with us. We want to hear about Jesus and they 12:01 loved this boat. And that is the story of the Melanesia. 12:05 Thank you boys and girls. Thank you boys and girls. 12:08 Hi boys and girls. Welcome to our Bible study. Have you got 12:12 your Bibles ready? I hope you have. Come and join us as we 12:16 read along together. Cecily, could you please say a prayer 12:20 for us to open up our study. 12:22 Yes, let's bow our heads. Dear Father in heaven, thank you for 12:26 our Bibles. Please help us to understand what we read today. 12:30 We pray for a special blessing on the children and families 12:34 who are watching with us. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen. 12:39 Amen. Thanks Aunt Cecily. Now last Sabbath we spoke about 12:43 Joshua and the children of Israel and how they went into 12:47 the promised land. Bethany what did God do so they could go into 12:51 the promised land? What did He do with the River Jordan? 12:53 He opened the Jordan River. 12:55 He did, didn't He, so that they could just walk straight through 12:59 on the dry river bed didn't He. Yeah. All right. Now Anna you're 13:03 going to read our first reading today. Let's begin our story in 13:06 Joshua 6:1 as to what happens now. 13:09 Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of 13:14 Israel. None went out and none came in. 13:17 Thanks Anna. Now Auntie Nat's got a little bit of background 13:20 here about the city of Jericho. It was in lockdown. You know 13:24 they saw those children of Israel cross the River Jordan 13:28 and they were terrified. You know, the city of Jericho, it 13:32 was a very wealthy city. It was very large. It's walls were very 13:36 high and very thick. And the people of Jericho worshipped an 13:41 idol called Astaroth who was the goddess of moon. And this was 13:46 the worst of idol worship in the land of Canaan. They did awful 13:51 things. The people of Jericho knew what God had done for the 13:55 Israelites and a lot of the countries round about knew and 13:59 there was only one person who decided to follow the true God 14:03 and who was that? We talked about her last week. Rahab. 14:07 Rahab. Isn't that amazing. Of all the inhabitants of Jericho, 14:11 Rahab was the only one that reached out and believed in the 14:15 Israelites God. Okay. But you know what? The rest of the 14:19 people in Jericho chose not to do that even though they knew 14:22 the great things that God had done. So, Matthew, we're going 14:26 continue reading and find out what happened. Can you please 14:30 read Joshua 6:8-9. 14:34 So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people that the 14:39 seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns before 14:42 the Lord advanced and blew the trumpets and the ark of the 14:45 covenant of the Lord followed them. The armed men went before 14:49 the priests who blew the trumpets and the rear guard came 14:52 after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets. 14:56 Mmm. So how many priests were glowing the rams' horns. Seven. 14:59 Seven. And we have a ram's horn right here and we're going to 15:02 talk a little bit about that later on. There were also some 15:07 armed men of the Israelite army ready for war. And there was a 15:11 piece of furniture that went with them. What was that? 15:13 The ark of the covenant. 15:15 The ark of the covenant. Now Kate we have got an Ark of the 15:18 Covenant there which we've showed on previous studies. 15:21 Would you like to lift that blue cloth to show the children at 15:25 home? Wow. Isn't that beautiful? Okay, Kate, you can put the 15:29 cloth back on now. Wherever that ark went in the travels, the 15:34 blue cloth was always over the ark. Bethany, can you please 15:38 read Joshua 6:10-11. 15:41 Yeah. Now Joshua had commanded the people saying, You shall not 15:45 shout or make any noise with your voice nor shall a word 15:49 proceed out of your mouth until the day I say to you shout. Then 15:54 you shall shout. So he had the ark of the Lord circle the city 15:59 going around it once. Then they came into the camp and lodged 16:03 in the camp. 16:04 Thank you Bethany. So they were not to make a sound when 16:08 marching around that city. The only noise was the trumpets 16:13 blowing and the marching of feet. How many times did they 16:17 have to walk around the city of Jericho just on that first day? 16:20 Yes Matthew. Once. Okay Kate can we continue reading from 16:26 Joshua 6:14. 16:27 And the second day they marched around the city once and 16:30 returned to the camp. So they did six days. 16:34 So for six days they marched around the City of Jericho once 16:38 each day. Do you think it must have looked a pretty strange 16:41 sight? (Murmur). I think it did. And do you know what? The people 16:46 in Jericho who were looking down from the walls of their 16:48 fortified city, I don't think they could make head or tail of 16:51 what was going on. It was probably a bit of a mystery to 16:54 them and I would say they were getting more terrified by each 16:58 day. Okay, Caleb, let's see what happens on the seventh day. Can 17:01 you please read Joshua 6:15-16 and 20. 17:05 But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early 17:10 about the dawning of the day and marched around the city seven 17:15 times in the same manner. On that day only they marched 17:18 around the city seven times. And the seventh time it happened 17:23 when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to 17:27 the people, Shout for the Lord has given you the city. So the 17:32 people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets and it 17:36 happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet and the 17:41 people shouted with a great shout that the wall fell down 17:45 flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man 17:48 straight before him and they took the city. 17:51 Mmm. So how many times did they walk around the city of Jericho 17:56 or march around the city of Jericho on that seventh day? 18:00 Seven times and at the end of the seventh circuit they were 18:05 to speak and use their voices and shout and those rams' horns 18:11 blowing and those wall came down!. Wow. Do you think with 18:16 those rams' horns, there were seven of them all blowing at the 18:19 same time and all shouting, do you think that would have made 18:23 a lot of noise? Yeah. We've got some special footage of that. 18:26 James, can you show us that please. 18:42 Wow. So as you mentioned that was just Mr. John blowing that. 18:46 Just one person. Could you imagine seven at the same time? 18:50 That would have been a lot of noise wouldn't it? Do you know 18:53 what? All the children of Israel had to do was obey the 18:57 instructions of God and God and the angels pull... God sent his 19:01 angels, His mighty angels to pull those walls down. That's 19:06 amazing isn't it? God can do such wonderful things. Now J J 19:11 I'd like you to read Joshua 6:23 please and let's see what 19:15 happened to Rahab. 19:16 And the young men who had been spies went in and brought out 19:20 Rahab, her father, her mother, her brothers and all that she 19:26 had. So they brought out all her relatives and left them outside 19:31 the camp of Israel. 19:32 So did Joshua keep the promise that spies made to Rahab? Yes. 19:37 Yes he did. They honored Rahab's faith that she had in their God 19:42 and rewarded her for keeping the two spies safe. Now Aunt Cecily 19:47 you're going to go to Hebrews 11 and read 30-31 and there are 19:52 two faith statements there. Could you please read that 19:55 for us. 19:56 The first one is: By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after 20:01 they were encircled for seven days. And then, By faith the 20:06 harlot Rehab did not perish with those who did not believe when 20:12 she had received the spies with peace. 20:15 So faith played a big part, didn't it, in the lives of the 20:18 people we've just read about. There were some more 20:21 instructions that the Israelites had to obey when taking the city 20:24 of Jericho. Anna, can you please read Joshua 6:18-19. 20:31 And you, by all means, abstain from the accursed things, lest 20:37 you become accursed when you take the accursed things and 20:41 make the camp of Israel accursed and trouble it. But all the 20:46 silver and gold and vessels of bronze and iron are consecrated 20:50 to the Lord. They shall come into the treasury of the Lord. 20:55 So the Israelites, they were not to take any treasures from the 20:59 city of Jericho for themselves. All the treasures were for God's 21:03 storehouse. If they did take anything for themselves it would 21:07 put a curse on the whole camp. Let's look at our Torch Light, 21:10 Mrs. White's writings, and see what they shine on the verse. 21:14 Matthew, you're going to read that for us today. 21:16 Can you do that? Thank you. 21:22 The Israelites had not gained the victory by their own power; 21:27 the conquest had been wholly the Lord's;... That which could not 21:32 destroyed by fire, the silver and gold, and the vessels of 21:36 brass and of iron, was to be devoted to the service of 21:39 the tabernacle. 21:40 Thank you Matthew. So because God had fought the battle for 21:45 them, all the treasures belonged to God alone and were to be used 21:51 for the sanctuary service. But something happened. Joshua, in 21:57 his excitement over the successful battle of Jericho 22:02 forgot to consult God when making plans to overtake the 22:06 town of Ai. The Canaanites of Ai defeated them and 36 people died 22:12 Let's read what Joshua does. Bethany can you please read 22:18 Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face 22:22 before the ark of the Lord until evening. He and the elders of 22:27 Israel and they put dust on their heads. 22:29 So Joshua in his distress and grief lay on his face before 22:34 the ark of the covenant all day. Let's see what happens. Kate, 22:39 can you read Joshua 7:10-12 please. 22:43 So the Lord said to Joshua, Get up! Why do you lie thus on your 22:48 face? Israel has sinned and they have also transgressed my 22:53 covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of 22:57 the accursed things and they have both stolen and deceived 23:01 and they have put it among their own stuff. Therefore the 23:05 children of Israel could not stand before their enemies but 23:08 turned their backs before their enemies because they have 23:12 become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you 23:16 anymore unless you destroy the accursed from among you. 23:20 Oh dear. So God is informing Joshua that there is a sin in 23:24 the camp and that someone has brought treasures from the city 23:28 of Jericho to use for their own personal use. Now what did God 23:32 say? He said not to steal anything from the city of 23:34 Jericho, didn't he? He wanted it all in His sanctuary. God 23:38 warns Joshua that he will not be with them until the man is 23:43 found who stole God's first fruits. You know what Joshua 23:47 eventually found out that the man's name was Achan. Let's see 23:52 Achan tells Joshua. Caleb, can you please read Joshua 7:21. 23:56 When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garments, 24:01 two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold weighing 24:06 fifty shekels. I coveted them and took them and there they are 24:11 hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent with the silver under 24:15 it. So Achan was the only one of 24:18 over a million people who had disobeyed. He had coveted 24:22 meaning he wanted and stole what was not his. He didn't just 24:27 steal from anyone. He actually stole from God. He put the whole 24:32 encampment in danger and Achan actually died for his sin. Let's 24:36 read our memory verse. We're going to go to Luke 12:15. And 24:42 for the children at home, Luke is in the New Testament. 24:47 Luke 12:15-Take heed and beware of covetousness for one's life 24:56 does not consist in the abundance of things he possesses 25:02 So God does not want us to covet He wants us to be content with 25:06 what we already have. Thank you boys and girls for reading along 25:11 with us. We have a devotional available that goes into more 25:14 depth on what we have studied today. Here is how you can 25:17 get that. 25:18 Hey boys and girls. Like Auntie Nat said, you can download our 25:22 devotionals free from our website at 25:25 www.adaywiththeking.com. 25:28 Hey Nick, don't forget about Teddy. 25:31 Oh yes, while you're there you can visit Teddy's blog. He's 25:35 posted some videos of his intense training for the show. 25:39 Boys and girls, we want to hear from you. Boys and girls we'd love to hear from you 25:50 Auntie Nat can you tell us what we're going to study about next 25:54 Yes. Next Sabbath we're going to study about something that 25:58 stands still. I wonder if you can work that out. We look 26:01 forward to studying that with you next week. Auntie Cecily, 26:04 shall we go over our memory verse that we learned in our 26:06 Bible study today. 26:08 Yes. Boys and girls are you ready to do that. Let's read 26:10 Luke 12:15-Take heed and beware of covetousness for one's life 26:19 does not consist in the abundance of the things he 26:24 possesses. 26:25 Guess what Auntie Nat? We've nearly finished out worship time 26:30 again already. 26:31 Ahhh. Our time will go so quickly. 26:34 Kate, what did you learn about the King this week? 26:38 That Jesus wants us to give Him our hearts so we can prepare 26:42 for heaven. 26:43 Ah, yes He does. He doesn't want anyone to miss out. 26:47 Boys and girls are you ready to sing our blessing song to the 26:50 children at home? Yes. Okay, let's do that. 26:53 Let's turn around. 26:55 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill your heart with love¤ 27:10 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤ 27:21 ¤As Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤ 27:31 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed¤ 27:41 ¤Good bye my friends till we meet again¤ 27:46 ¤For another day with the King¤ 27:53 Good bye, good bye. See you next Sabbath. 27:55 ¤ ¤ |
