00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:02 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King. 00:04 ¤ ¤ 00:51 Hello, I'm Auntie Cecily and I'm so glad you've come back to join 00:56 us in our worship time. And 00:57 Auntie Nat I'm glad to see you 00:59 here today as well. 01:01 Thanks Auntie Cecily. I'm really glad to be here too. And how are 01:04 you today kids. Good. 01:06 Now Auntie Nat, I know that you want to send a big hello to some 01:10 people who have been watching us. 01:11 Yes I would like to say a big Hello to all the people watching 01:15 in Papua, New Guinea. Hello. 01:19 Auntie Nat, that's a long way away. 01:21 I know. Isn't technology amazing. We can be sitting here 01:25 in our lounge room in Australia and someone in a different 01:28 country is watching us. What do you think, Auntie Cecily? 01:31 Oh it is incredible. It's also incredible that Teddy sits here 01:36 and tries to be a good bunny each week. 01:40 Auntie Nat, would you like to say a prayer for us before we 01:43 commence our worship? 01:44 Yes, I'd love to. Dearest heavenly Father, we thank you 01:49 Lord that we're here for another worship time to welcome in the 01:52 Sabbath and we just ask Lord you'll be with the children at 01:55 home. In Jesus's name. Amen. 01:58 Amen. Auntie Nat, do you know I'm so glad that it's the 02:03 Sabbath and that I can just rest from the week and just have a 02:07 little, you know, quiet time with the Lord. And speaking of 02:11 blessings; we have our blessing box again. Jeremiah would you 02:15 like to open our blessing box and read a blessing that we can 02:19 be to others? I wonder what our blessing is today. 02:22 Invite some friends to come with you and your family on a nature 02:29 walk. 02:30 O lovely. Do you sometimes like to go walking with friends in 02:33 nature. Where do you like to go for a walk on Sabbath afternoon? 02:37 How about you Jeremiah, where do you like to go? 02:41 In the bush. 02:43 Oh yes, I love the Australian bush. And I also like going to 02:46 the beach for a walk on Sabbath afternoon. Have you ever done 02:49 that? Uh-huh. And have you looked in the rock pools and 02:54 seen the little fish? Starfish and crabs? Have you been 02:58 nipped by a crab? That's a lovely way to just share. 03:02 And how much better it is even if we take friends. Isn't that 03:06 exciting then. We can share that enjoyment being out amongst 03:09 God's nature. Boys and girls is there a special spot where you 03:13 you live that you love to go for a walk and look at the 03:16 beauty that God created. Perhaps you could send us a picture of 03:20 that place. We would love to see it and share it with the 03:24 children here. Our address is www. adaywiththeking. com. 03:27 Now Auntie Cecily you've been sharing some blessings about 03:30 Jesus' second coming. 03:31 Yes remember the last few Sabbaths we've spoken about 03:36 preparing our hearts for Jesus so we can enter the promised 03:40 land, which is heaven. Well today I want to talk with you 03:44 about some promises in the Bible that tell us that Jesus is 03:48 coming soon to take us to the heavenly promised land. 03:52 Revelation 1:7 tells us, Behold He is coming with clouds and 03:57 every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him. Here's 04:03 another promise found in James 5:7-8: Therefore, be patient 04:09 brethren until the coming of the Lord. Establish your hearts 04:14 for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Now later in our Bible 04:19 study we're going to learn about a man names Gideon. When God 04:23 called Gideon to do a mighty work for Him, Gideon tested God 04:28 and we'll discover what those tests were. God wants us to 04:32 read and test the Bible and he wants us to taste and see that 04:37 the Lord is good. So test the Bible for yourself and build up 04:41 your trust in God and believe in His promises. Because He 04:45 wants you to be ready for Him so He can take you back to live 04:49 with Him and be with him forever. 04:51 Thanks Auntie Cecily for sharing that with us. Jesus really wants 04:56 us to read His word so we can believe in his promises. 05:00 Oh Pastor Rick, you just snuck in. Thank you so much for 05:04 sharing your musical talent with us and joining with us in our 05:07 worship time. 05:08 It's great to be here and it's great to be with you again 05:10 children. And because it's Sabbath, what if we sing 05:14 Don't Forget the Sabbath? Ready? 06:17 Pastor Rick can we please sing I Just Keep Trusting My Lord? 06:21 That is one of my favorite songs So glad you chose it. 07:32 Pastor Rick can we sing Thank you Lord? 07:35 We certainly can and we've got so much to thank the Lord for. 08:02 Sing it again. 08:26 Thanks Pastor Rick. Singing praises to God in song is such 08:30 enjoyable part of our worship. Now it's story time again with 08:34 Dr. John. I wonder what he's got for us this time. 08:38 Hi boys and girls. I'm Dr. John 08:41 and welcome back to story time 08:43 and welcome to boys and girls wherever you are. 08:47 You know I used to live in Fiji and the old missionaries there 08:52 would tell the stories of the old days. You know what the 08:56 biggest danger was in the old days. It wasn't sickness, it 09:00 wasn't starvation, it was the cannibals and it was a terrible, 09:05 terrible thing and the last missionary in Fiji to have an 09:12 unfortunate end was this man here. His name was Thomas Baker. 09:18 Thomas Baker went to a village called Nambutautau. Say that 09:24 with me - Nambatautua. Oh you'd make good little Fijians. And 09:29 the people from Nandrau, the big village nearby, they said, 09:34 we don't like this man. He does not understand our culture and 09:40 we want rid of him. Wow. He came to the village and he did 09:45 did several things wrong. One was when he met the chief, he 09:51 had his head higher than the chief and even when I lived in 09:55 Fiji, when I went to a village with a chief, my head was never 10:01 higher than his. But before he went to bed he did something 10:07 that was to cost him his life. He decided to comb his hair and 10:13 he combed his hair and when he finished the chief reached out 10:20 and took it, just like that. And he stuck it in his hair. Now 10:26 your hair is very short. Can you stick that in your hair? 10:32 I don't think so. 10:34 Yeah and you know what Thomas Baker did. You hold it on your 10:37 head, you hold it on your head. He reached over and he took it 10:43 back, like that. And that was his death sentence. Because that 10:48 night they came with the clubs and they killed him and they ate 10:52 him and they ate everything. And there was one part of him 10:58 they couldn't eat. They chewed and they chewed and they chewed 11:04 and they could never quite finish because they'd never seen 11:10 shoes before. They tried to eat his shoes. So they keep those in 11:14 in the museum in Suva, the capital of Fiji. You will still 11:19 the shoes of the one Reverend Thomas Baker. But you know 11:24 the missionaries made peace and when you make peace in Fiji they 11:31 give you this. This is the most valuable thing you can have 11:37 in the Pacific Islands. Does anybody know what it might be? 11:42 Take a guess. A tooth? My tooth? What's it off. You are quite right 11:51 What sort of an animal is this off? A whale. And these are 11:58 worth hundreds and thousands of dollars and if you and I have a 12:03 fight and we make up and I give you this and you reach out. 12:09 You've got both hands, that's the way you do it. And then I go 12:13 like this (claps hand together three times), we can never be 12:19 enemies again. And that is why Christianity came to Fiji so 12:25 quickly and they gave up cannibalism. And you know 12:28 one of the chiefs from Nandrel which was near, what was the 12:34 name of the village? Nambutautau He came to me. He was on my 12:39 staff, and I was leaving, and he started to cry. He said I have 12:43 a present for you. And I said what have you got. His name 12:47 was Taniella which means Daniel. He said, this is my ancestral 12:54 war club. It has killed 19 men. And he cried as he gave the name 13:00 of every one of the people that he had killed. Not him, but his 13:05 ancestors. And you know. This is my most treasured possession. 13:10 Because when a Fijian gives you a present, you have to accept it 13:15 just like the tamboura. But you know the Fijians are the most 13:19 wonderful Christian people. There is no more cannibalism. 13:23 They gave it away. They had to eat fish instead because there 13:28 were no other wild animals and they liked to eat meat. And 13:32 Taniella and his friends and his family all became Christians and 13:37 wonderful, wonderful people. Thank you boys and girls. 13:40 Bye Bye. 13:41 Hi boys and girls. Welcome to our Bible study. If you haven't 13:45 got your Bibles ready yet, go get them now so you can follow 13:48 along with us. Caleb could you please say a prayer for us to 13:51 open our Bible study. 13:53 Yes thank you. Dear Father, help us to understand what we 13:57 read in our Bibles today. Turn our hearts to You. Please be 14:00 especially with the children at home and bless them this day. 14:04 In Jesus' name. Amen. 14:06 Amen. Now J J we studied about something that stood still last 14:10 week. What was that about? 14:11 The sun stood still. 14:14 Yes, God did an amazing thing for Joshua, didn't He, so that 14:17 he and his army could fight the Canaanites and win the battle. 14:21 But something else happened. There was something that was 14:24 divided up for the children of Israel. What was that? 14:27 The land. 14:28 The land, yes, and they all had their territories to inhabit. 14:32 Now something happened, and we're going to study about that, 14:36 because of what the children of Israel didn't do. We are going 14:40 to study the book of Judges. Okay, Anna could you please read 14:44 our first reading, Judges 2:11-12. 14:47 Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord 14:51 and served the Baals and they forsook the Lord God of their 14:54 fathers who had brought them out of the land of Egypt and they 14:58 followed other gods from among the gods of the people who 15:02 overran them and they bowed to them and they provoked the Lord 15:06 to anger. 15:08 Thanks Anna. Yes, so the children of Israel did not do 15:11 what God asked them and to destroy all the idols in the 15:14 land and they did not drive out the Canaanites. So instead of 15:19 worshipping the one true God that delivered them from Egypt, 15:22 they began to worship the gods of the Canaanites. Was God 15:26 happy? No. No He wasn't. So because the Israelites chose to 15:30 worship the false gods of the Canaanites, God allowed the 15:34 Canaanites to go to war against them and make their lives very 15:38 hard. But in God's mercy, He didn't utterly forsake them. 15:42 He would raise up a judge to help deliver them. After the 15:46 Israelites had repented and been delivered peace would come for 15:50 many years but then something would happen. Bethany can you 15:54 please read Judges 2:19. 15:56 And then it came to pass that when the judge was dead that 16:00 they reverted and behaved more corruptly than their fathers by 16:04 following other gods to serve them and bow down to them. They 16:08 did not cease from their own doings nor from their 16:10 stubborn way. 16:12 So as soon as the judge had raised up to deliver them died 16:15 Israel went into apostasy again. Sad isn't it? We are now going 16:20 study about one of the judges and his name was Gideon. Kate 16:25 can you read Judges 6:1 and 5-6 please. 16:31 Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, 16:34 so the Lord delivered them into hands of Midian for seven years. 16:39 So they would come up with their livestock and their tents coming 16:43 in as numerous as locusts; both they and their camels were 16:49 without number and they would enter the land to destroy it. So 16:55 Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites and 17:01 children of Israel cried out to the Lord. 17:03 Thanks Kate. So the children of Israel started worshipping false 17:07 gods again and this time the Midianites came and ate 17:11 everything up and they were like locusts and they stripped the 17:15 land of food. The Israelites became impoverished or very 17:19 hungry and cried out to the Lord. Let's see what God does. 17:24 Caleb can you please read Judges 6:11-12. 17:28 Now the angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree 17:34 which was in Ophrah which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, 17:41 while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress in order 17:48 to hide it from the Midianites. And the Angel of the Lord 17:54 appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with you, you mighty 18:00 man of valor. 18:02 Thanks Caleb. So and angel of the Lord came to speak to Gideon 18:07 J J can you please read Judges 6:14-16. 18:11 Then the Lord turned to him and said go in this might of yours 18:18 you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I 18:25 not sent you? So he said to Him, O my Lord, how can I save Israel 18:32 Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh and I am the least in 18:38 my father's house. And the Lord said to him, Surely I will be 18:44 with you and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man. 18:50 Thanks J J. So God wants to use Gideon to deliver Israel from 18:55 the Midianites. Gideon, like Moses, was a bit unsure about 19:00 the job that God had given him and asked God for a sign. We're 19:05 going to read about that. Anna, can you please read 19:07 Judges 6:36-38. 19:09 So Gideon said to God, if you will save Israel by my hand as 19:15 you have said, Look I shall put a fleece of wool on the 19:18 threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece only and it is dry 19:23 on all the ground, then I shall know that you will save Israel 19:28 by my hand as you have said. And it was so. When he rose early 19:33 the next morning and squeezed the fleece together he wrung the 19:37 dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. 19:41 Mmm. Now boys and girls if you go for a walk out on your grass 19:45 in your front or back 19:46 yard in the morning, it's usually got some dew on it, 19:49 hasn't it? It feels a little bit wet? So Gideon asked God for 19:53 sign that if the fleece was wet and the grass or the ground 19:59 around the fleece was dry, he knew that God was with him. Now 20:04 I'm going to give this to Aunt Cecily and I want J J to feel 20:08 for me, I've got some samples here. Now J J, you put your hand 20:12 on the fleece and tell me what it is. 20:14 It's wet. 20:15 Now put your other hand on the grass and what is the grass? 20:19 It's dry, isn't it? So God answered his prayer didn't He? 20:24 Thanks Auntie Cecily. Okay. But Gideon wanted to be doubly sure. 20:28 Now Matthew can you please read Judges 6:39-40. 20:35 Then Gideon said to God, Do not be angry with me, but let me 20:40 speak just once more: Let me test, I pray, just once more 20:44 with the fleece. Let it be dry only on the fleece but on all 20:48 the ground let there be dew. And God did so that night. 20:52 It was dry on the fleece only but there was dew on all the 20:55 ground. 20:57 Okay, so this time Gideon wanted the grass to be wet and the 21:00 fleece to be dry. Caleb can you put your hand on the fleece? 21:04 What is it? It's dry. All right put you other hand on the grass 21:08 and what is it. 21:10 The grass is wet. 21:11 Ah, is your hand all wet? Yeah. Yeah. So did God answer his 21:14 prayer again. He did. So Gideon was now satisfied and he 21:18 gathered the men of war together Bethany can you please read 21:22 Judges 7:2-3? 21:24 And the Lord said to Gideon, the people who are with you are 21:27 too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands. 21:31 Lest Israel claim glory for itself against me saying my own 21:36 hand has saved me. Now therefore proclaim in the hearing of the 21:40 people saying, Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn 21:44 and depart at once from Mount Gilead and 22,000 of the people 21:49 returned and 10,000 remained. 21:54 Wow. So out of 32,000 men 22,000 went home. So only 10,000 21:58 remained. In a worldly perspective, do you think it's 22:01 better to have as many men as possible to go to war and it is. 22:05 But do you know what, God wanted to show that He would 22:08 fight the battle for them. God wanted them to rely on Him and 22:12 not themselves. But God tells Gideon there's still too many 22:16 men and God directs Gideon to take them down to the water 22:20 or the river bank to drink. Kate can you please read 22:23 Judges 7:6-7. 22:26 And the number of those who lapped putting their hand to 22:30 their mouth was 300 men, but all the rest of the people who went 22:34 down on their knees to drink water. Then the Lord God said 22:38 to Gideon, by 300 men who lapped, I will save you and 22:42 deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people 22:46 go, every man to his place. 22:49 Thanks Kate. So the men that got on their hands and knees to 22:54 drink by the river went home but the men who scooped the water 22:58 up as they were going and licked or lapped it from their hands, 23:02 they were the ones that God wanted. So how many were chosen 23:05 to stay? Three hundred. Three hundred. Do you know what? 23:09 God was testing their character. The 300 men were chosen for the 23:13 was they drank the water. It showed that they had a job to 23:17 do and they were putting God before serving themselves. Let's 23:21 read the Torch Light. Caleb can you read that for us, to see 23:24 what Mrs. White shines on that verse for us. 23:30 Success does not depend upon 23:32 numbers. God can deliver by few 23:34 well as by many. He is honored not so much by the great numbers 23:40 as by the character of those who serve him. 23:43 Thank you Caleb. So it wasn't about the numbers, it was about 23:47 their hearts and where their hearts were for God. God can 23:51 do amazing things with a small amount of people. Okay, Gideon 23:55 divided the 300 men into three groups, that was 100 in each and 23:58 got them to come in three different directions of the 24:02 enemy encampment and it was at night while they were sleeping. 24:07 With the trumpet sound from Gideon, all 300 men blew their 24:11 trumpets and gave a shout and they broke their clay pitchers 24:16 to show their torches and it created such a panic with the 24:20 Midianites and they became confused and guess what? They 24:24 all killed each other while running away. We are told in 24:28 Judges 8:10 that the Midianites consisted of 120,000 men, but 24:34 God won the battle through Gideon with how many? 24:36 Three hundred. Three hundred men. Wow. Let's look at our 24:41 memory verse found in Isaiah 35:4. Let's read this together. 24:46 Say to those who are fearful- hearted, Be strong, do not fear 24:52 He will come and save you. 24:56 Wow. So just like God saved the Israelites, we can claim this 25:00 verse when we are scared or frightened or we are going up 25:05 with some overwhelming event in our lives. God is mighty to 25:09 save. Thank you boys and girls for reading along with us. We 25:12 have a devotional available that goes into more depth than what 25:16 we studied today. I'll give you a clue. it's someone with long 26:09 hair. We look forward to studying that with you next 26:11 week. Aunt Cecily shall we go over our memory verse that we 26:13 learned in our Bible study today? 26:15 Yes children you want to say this together? 26:17 Isaiah 35:4-Say to those who are fearful-hearted, Be strong, 26:26 do not fear. He will come and save you. 26:31 Our time always goes so fast, Doesn't it Auntie Cecily? 26:35 Yes. Bethany what did you learn about the King today? 26:39 That Jesus promises to come soon to take us home to heaven. 26:43 Yes. We have so much to look forward to. Children, are you 26:47 ready to sing our blessing song to the girls and boys at home? 26:52 Yes. Okay, let's turn around and do that. 26:57 ¤May God bless you and keep you, And fill your heart with love¤ 27:09 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤ 27:21 ¤As Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤ 27:31 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed. ¤ 27:41 ¤Good bye my friends till we meet again¤ 27:46 ¤For another day with the King¤ 27:51 Bye, Bye, See you next Sabbath. 27:56 ¤ ¤ |
