00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:03 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King. 00:05 ¤ ¤ 00:53 Good day. I'm Auntie Nat. 00:54 And I'm Auntie Cecily. 00:56 We're so glad you've decided to 00:57 join us in our worship time with the King. Auntie Cecily, I know 01:01 you want to say hello to someone who's been watching the 01:03 program. 01:04 Yes. I want to say a big hello to Reeanna from New South Wales. 01:08 Hello, Hi, Hi. 01:10 We would like to know where you are watching us from. Drop us a 01:14 line and let us know. Our address is on the screen 01:18 So quick write it down now. 01:19 I know the children that are here would love to know who is 01:22 watching and being blessed. We also can't forget to say hello 01:25 to Teddy. You're so quiet here Teddy, you're such a good boy. 01:28 Jireh, can you please say a prayer for us to open our 01:32 worship time? 01:34 Yeah. Dear Jesus, thank you for this day. Please help us to 01:40 learn more about you and in Jesus' name I pray. Amen. 01:46 Amen. Thank you very much Jireh. Aunt Cecily, how's your week 01:50 been? 01:52 I've had a very busy week but I always look forward to the 01:54 Sabbath where I can have a rest. 01:58 Yes, I'm so happy that the Sabbath is here. No housework 02:00 on the Sabbath. Isn't that wonderful. I'm so grateful to 02:02 God for that. Let's have a look at our blessing box and see what 02:06 we can do for someone else on the Sabbath. Abigail, you're 02:10 going to read that for us today. 02:13 Call someone on the phone that you know has had a difficult 02:16 week and pray for them. 02:18 Oh, that would be a wonderful blessing. I think that would be 02:21 a very thoughtful thing to do, especially for someone who lives 02:25 a long way away and we can't just jump in the car and go say 02:28 hello to them. Children sometimes a thoughtful 02:31 phone call and a prayer with a grandparent, or relative or a 02:35 friend can be such an encouragement to them. 02:37 But always remember to ask mom and dad first before you make 02:41 the call. Can you think of someone that you could call, 02:44 Abigail, to talk to them and encourage them with a prayer? 02:47 My grandma in South Africa. 02:50 You know what? I think she would love to hear from you. 02:52 That would be such a blessing to here. Auntie Cecily, you have 02:56 a blessing for us as well. Can you share that with us? 03:00 Yes I do. Hope you don't mind if I nurse Teddy while I talk 03:02 to you. 03:04 That's okay. He's been a bit restless hasn't he? 03:05 Do you remember last week we spoke about reading and testing 03:10 the word of God. When we do that we'll find that the Bible 03:15 has many blessings and promises for us. We also have spoken 03:20 about Jesus' promise to take us home. Later we'll learn about 03:25 Samson's very interesting journey with God. He gave his 03:29 heart back to God after leaving Him for a time. And when he gave 03:34 his bad heart back to God it was a very noisy and loud event. We 03:39 know that Jesus' second coming will be very loud and noisy too. 03:44 Matthew 24:31 and 1 Thessalonians 4:16 03:50 tell us that God will shout and use trumpets to herald Jesus' 03:55 return. And when Jesus returns to take us home to heaven it's 04:00 not going to be a secret or a quiet event and everybody will 04:05 know about it. You know, we're told in Revelation 1:7 that 04:10 every eye will see Him. We will all know when Jesus returns. 04:16 So remember to believe in God's promises. 04:19 Wow, Auntie Cecily no one's going to be confused whether 04:23 Jesus has come or not. Everyone will know about it. Oh Pastor 04:27 Rick, I'm so glad that you've arrived. Thank you for sharing 04:31 your talent with us so that we can sing praises to God. 04:35 Glad to be here and glad to be 04:37 singing some of these beautiful songs. And the song that I'd 04:40 like us all to sing is I So 04:42 Happy and the reason is because Jesus is with us. 05:19 Pastor can we please sing You Can Smile? 05:24 Ah, that's a great song. Why can we smile, anyone have an idea? 05:30 Because Jesus loves us. 05:33 Jesus loves us, yes. Anyone else 05:35 You're happy? Jesus makes us happy. This is a great song, 05:39 You Can Smile. 06:02 And again. 06:24 Pastor Rick can we sing More About Jesus? 06:27 More about Jesus. Ooo, isn't that a beautiful sound. 06:30 More about Jesus. We're going to sing it twice okay? 07:09 Okay one more time. 07:44 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's so good to praise God in song. Guess 07:51 what? Dr. John's back with some more wonderful stories for us. 07:56 We learn so much from his stories so let's go and join him 08:00 in his study. 08:01 Hello boys and girls. I'm Dr. John and welcome back to 08:05 story time. And welcome boys and girls wherever you are. 08:09 You know, a lot of these mission stories involve boats because 08:14 in the old days that was the only way you could travel. They 08:19 had big boats and they had little boats and they had medium 08:23 size boats and this boat was a medium size boat. It could go 08:28 in the seas, not the really big seas but you know when you 08:34 got on the Portal and sailed in that don't have breakfast 08:39 because so many people got sea sick and their breakfast would 08:43 go to the fishes. This little boat sailed backwards and 08:47 forwards everywhere during it life and then came the war and 08:52 the Japanese were coming to the Solomon Islands and they were 08:56 really worried and they started up the boats. They had four 09:00 boats and three of them started up but the motor wouldn't go. 09:05 And the officer, the army officer, he said, All right 09:10 burn it. No, no, no, don't burn our boat. We love the Portal. 09:15 Burn it! He got two big drums of petrol and he poured it over, 09:21 he threw in a match and whoof it caught on fire. Well all the 09:25 natives were crying and the officer got on his boat and he 09:29 sailed out and there were flames everywhere. And as soon as he 09:35 turned his back there was a big blanket that just went phoof and 09:40 the flames stopped. Oh, they were so happy. The boat was very 09:45 dirty and it had burn marks on it but it was still okay. 09:49 Oh, the Japanese are coming! We can see the boats. Quickly, 09:52 let's hide the Portal. And they took it across the lagoon and 09:55 they found a little creek and they pushed it right up to the 10:00 very top. Then, they put some leaves on it and more leaves 10:06 until it looked like a great big bush. And they took out the 10:12 motor and they pulled all the parts, every nut, bolt and 10:17 spring and hid them. For three years it lay in that creek, dark 10:27 covered with leaves and the Japanese never ever found it. 10:31 And when the war was finished Pastor Ferris can back and he 10:35 said, oh, too bad about the Portal wasn't it. Oh no! We've 10:39 got the Portal! No, I've got here a piece of paper from the 10:43 government, it was burnt. No! No, we've got the Portal. Come 10:48 with me. And they pulled out from underneath all the leaves 10:52 this boat, all black, all dirty but it still floated. Ah, this 10:58 is wonderful. Where's the... Oh that's not a motor. That's a 11:03 hump of iron. Where are all the bits and pieces, the nuts and 11:07 bolts. Ah, you watch and they beat the drums, poom, poom, 11:12 poom, poom and the message went right around the islands 11:16 and people turned up and they found a lady who was wearing 11:22 something round her neck. What is that you've got round your 11:28 neck? Oh, oh, it's a nut and it's all shiny. You've been 11:33 wearing it round your neck for how many years? Three years. 11:39 Ah, he was so pleased. And then somebody else came up. What have 11:45 you got? Yes I've had that in my pocket for three years and it's 11:51 all shiny. Somebody else came up Yes, I've had this in my pocket 11:56 for all these years. And so every bit came, even the 12:05 pistons; I hid that under my house and covered it with oil. 12:10 You know they put all the pieces back together and Pastor Ferris 12:15 says now I hope it will start because these pieces have been 12:19 everywhere. If it is missing one piece, it won't start. And 12:23 he got the starting rope and he tied it round and everybody's 12:27 watching. Not a noise from the crowd. Will it start, will it 12:32 start and he pulled it, Froom, putt, putt, putt, putt. They 12:36 were so happy you know. They would never let one little bit 12:43 that had a burn mark. Somebody tried to paint it. No, we must 12:46 leave it there because that's the only part of the Portal that 12:50 ever got burned. And Jesus had marks on His hands after he was 12:54 crucified and he will have those marks there forever and we want 12:58 that mark on the Portal forever because it is a sign that God 13:02 saved the boat. And that's the story of the Portal. Thank you 13:07 boys and girls. 13:09 All right boys and girls. Welcome to our Bible 13:11 study. If you haven't got your Bibles ready yet go get them now 13:14 so you can follow along with us. Anna, can you please say a 13:18 prayer to open our Bible study time? 13:20 Yes. Dear Father, thank you for our Bibles. Help us to learn 13:24 more about you today. Please be with the children watching at 13:28 home. In Jesus' name. Amen. 13:31 Amen. Thanks Anna. Now Kate who was it that we studied about 13:34 last Sabbath. Gideon. Gideon, yes. It was an interesting story 13:37 wasn't it. And did God use Gideon to help the Israelites 13:40 win the battle. Yes. He did didn't he? Okay, now we're going 13:45 study about another judge today and his name was Samson. And 13:51 Anna I'd like you to start with reading Judges 13:1-3. 13:54 Again the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord 13:58 and the Lord delivered them into the hand of the Philistines for 14:02 forty years. Now there was a certain man from Zorah of the 14:09 family of the Danites whose name was Manoah and his wife was 14:13 barren and had no children. And the angel of the Lord appeared 14:17 to the woman and said to her. Indeed, now you are barren and 14:21 have born no children but you shall conceive and bear a son. 14:25 Thanks Anna. So God was going to raise up another deliverer 14:29 through Manoah and his wife who had not been able to have 14:34 children. But an Angel visited Manoah's wife and tells her that 14:38 she is now going to have a baby boy. Okay Matthew, let's read 14:42 Judges 13:4-5. 14:43 Now, therefore, please be careful not to drink wine or 14:47 similar drink and not to eat anything unclean. For behold, 14:51 you shall conceive and bear a son and no razor shall come upon 14:56 his head. The child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb 15:00 and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the 15:03 Philistines. 15:05 Wow. Thanks Matthew. So God had some special plans for this baby 15:08 just like He has some special plans for you too. But this 15:13 baby was to born a Nazarite who was to live a life dedicated to 15:17 God. We just read that Manoah's wife was not to drink any wine 15:22 or eat anything unclean during her pregnancy. Another 15:25 interesting thing we just read that after the baby was born, 15:29 they were never to cut his hair. Now Bethany, can you please read 15:32 Judges 13:24-25. 15:36 So the woman bore a son and called his name Samson and the 15:40 child grew and the Lord blessed him. And the Spirit of the Lord 15:44 began to move upon him at Mahaneh Dan between Zorah and 15:48 Eshtaol. 15:49 Mmm. So God was preparing Samson for a work He wanted 15:53 him to do. Kate can you please read Judges 14:1-3. 15:57 Now Samson went down Timnah and saw a woman in Timnah of the 16:02 daughters of the Philistines. So he went up and told his 16:08 father and mother saying, I have seen a woman in Timnah of the 16:11 daughters of the Philistines. Now therefore get her for me 16:15 as a wife. Then his father and mother said to him, is there no 16:20 woman among the daughters of your brethren or among all my 16:25 people that you must go and get a wife from the uncircumcised 16:29 Philistines. And Samson said to his father get her for me for 16:33 me for she pleases me well. 16:35 Mmm. So Samson wants to marry a woman from the Philistines who 16:39 were actually the Israelites enemies. Samson's parents try 16:43 and persuade him to marry of the Israelites girls but Samson 16:46 chooses to ignore their advice. Let's continue to see what 16:49 happens. Caleb, can you please read Judges 14:5-6. 16:54 So Samson went down to Timnah with his father and mother and 17:00 came to the vineyards of Timnah. Now to his surprise a young lion 17:05 came roaring against him and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily 17:09 upon him and he tore the lion apart as one would have torn 17:13 apart a young goat though he had nothing in his hand, but he 17:17 did not tell his father or his mother what he had done. 17:21 Thanks Caleb. So imagine killing a lion with your bare 17:24 hands. One of Samson's gifts from God was his mighty strength 17:29 God was going to use this to deliver the Israelites from 17:33 their enemies. Now J J can you please read Judges 14:7-9. 17:38 Yes. Then he went down and talked with the woman and she 17:42 pleased Samson well. After some time when he returned to get 17:48 her he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion and behold a 17:54 swarm of bees and honey were in the carcass of the lion. He 17:59 took some of it in his hands and went along eating. 18:04 When he came to his father and mother he gave some to them and 18:10 they also ate, but he did not tell them that he had taken the 18:16 honey out of the carcass of the lion. 18:18 Thanks J J. So Samson found that the bees had made a hive in the 18:24 body of the dead lion that he had killed a little time before. 18:27 Do you know what? He ate some of the honey and he even shared 18:32 with his parents without telling them where it came from. Now 18:37 Numbers 6 tells us that a Nazarite is not to touch 18:39 anything that is dead and Leviticus 11 tells us that a 18:42 lion is actually unclean because it has four paws. So Samson is 18:47 not really living the life that God had intended for him or 18:52 ordained him to live. So if we were to continue reading, the 18:55 wedding feast with this girl that he wanted to marry from 19:00 the Philistines went ahead. But you know what? It ended in 19:04 disaster because his wife betrayed him. Samson took off 19:08 and left his poor wife behind and when he cooled down and he 19:12 came back to get her, his father-in-law had given her 19:15 to another man. And do you think Samson was furious? 19:19 He was. He was very, very angry. Let's see what happens. 19:23 Aunt Cecily can you read Judges 15:4-5. 19:25 Then Samson went and caught 300 foxes and he took torches, 19:32 turned the foxes tail-to-tail and put a torch between each pair of 19:37 tails. When he had set the torches on fire, he let the 19:42 foxes go into the standing grain of the Philistines and burnt up 19:48 both the shocks and the standing grain as well as the vineyards and 19:54 olive groves. 19:56 So time went on and Samson fell in love with another Philistine 20:00 girl. Her name was Delilah and the Philistine leaders found out 20:04 about this and approached Delilah. Let's see what happens. 20:07 Matthew can you please read Judges 16:5. 20:11 And the lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, 20:16 Entice him and find out where his great strength lies and by 20:20 what means we may overpower him that we may bind him to 20:25 afflict him and every one of us will give you eleven hundred 20:28 pieces of silver. 20:30 Mmm. So the Philistines want to get rid of Samson and they knew 20:35 if they could find the source of his strength they could capture 20:41 him. Now Bethany can you read Judges 16:6-9 please. 20:44 So Delilah said to Samson, Please tell me where your great 20:47 strength lies and with what you may be bound to afflict you. 20:50 And Samson said to her, If they bind me with seven fresh bow 20:54 strings not yet dried, then I shall become weak and be like 20:58 any other man. So the lords of the Philistines brought up to 21:03 her seven fresh bowstrings, not yet dried and she bound him with 21:07 them. Now men were lying in wait staying with her in the 21:13 room and she said to him, The Philistines are upon you Samson. 21:16 But he broke the bowstrings as a strand of yarn breaks when it 21:20 touches fire. So the secret of his strength was not yet known. 21:25 So Delilah's trick work? No. You know what? She tried it two 21:29 more times until something happened. Kate can you please 21:33 read Judges 16:15-17. 21:37 Then she said to him, How can you say I love you when your 21:41 heart is not with me. You have mocked me for these three times 21:45 and have not told me where your great strength lies. And it came 21:49 to pass when she pestered him daily with her words and pressed 21:54 him so that his soul was vexed to death. Then he told her all 21:57 his heart and said to her, No razor has ever come upon my 22:01 head for I have been a Nazarite to God from my mother's womb. 22:05 If I am shaven, then my strength will leave me and I shall become 22:08 weak and be like any other man. 22:11 Mmm. So Samson gave in and told Delilah his secret. Now if 22:17 we were to continue reading we, know that Delilah shaved his head 22:21 while Samson slept. His strength left him and the Philistines 22:26 captured him. Do you know? There were actually no magic 22:30 powers in the hair itself but once that last sign as a 22:35 Nazarite had gone God left him. He'd already broken so many 22:39 other vows that this was kind of like the last straw. Caleb 22:44 can you please read Judges 16:21-22 22:49 Then the Philistines took him and put out his eyes and brought 22:54 him down to Gaza. There they bound him with bronze fetters 22:58 and he because a grinder in the prison. However, the hair of his 23:05 head began to grow again after it had been shaven. 23:08 Mmm. Thanks Caleb. So Samson ended up a prisoner. Let's have 23:13 a look at Mrs. White's writings in our Torch Light and see what 23:17 they shine on the verses that we just read. 23:20 In suffering and humiliation, a 23:23 sport for the Philistines, Samson learned more of his own 23:27 weakness than he had ever known before and his afflictions led 23:33 him to repentance. As his hair grew, his power gradually 23:37 returned. 23:39 Thanks J J. So God had to humble him in prison and he had to 23:43 learn to rely on God's strength instead of his own physical 23:48 strength. During his prison experience, Samson repented and 23:51 he gave his heart back to God. Let's have a look at our memory 23:57 verse now and go to Isaiah 40:29 and let's read that together. 24:02 He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He 24:07 increases strength. 24:10 God is our strength isn't he. So the Philistines decided to have 24:14 a celebration to worship their idol, Dagon, their fish god, and 24:18 called Samson to perform for them. Anna, can you read 24:21 Judges 16:28 and 30 and let's see what happens. 24:24 When Samson called to the Lord saying, Oh Lord God remember me 24:30 I pray. Strengthen me I pray just this once my God that I may 24:35 with one blow take vengeance on the Philistines for my two eyes. 24:40 Then Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines and he 24:45 pushed with all his might and the temple fell on the lords and 24:48 all the people who were in it. So the dead that he killed at 24:51 his death were more than he had killed in his life. 24:55 Mmm. Wow. Do you know what. God had intended a happy and 25:00 happy and fulfilled life for Samson in serving him and his 25:04 fellow man. But instead because of the way Samson chose to live 25:10 his life, his biggest impact was his death. Do you know what, 25:14 God wants us to give our hearts to Him now so our lives right 25:18 now can be a blessing to others. Thank you boys and girls for 25:22 reading along with us. We have a devotional available that goes 25:25 into more depth than what we studied today. Here's how you 25:28 can get that. 25:30 Hey, boys and girls. Like Auntie Nat said you can download our 25:33 devotionals free from our website at 25:36 www.adaywiththeking.com. Hey, Nick don't forget about 25:41 Teddy. 25:43 Oh yes. Auntie Nat, can you tell us what we're going to 26:04 study about next week? 26:06 Yes, next Sabbath we're going to study about someone who 26:09 believe and chose to follow her mother-in-law's God. 26:12 Girls and boys can you look in your Bibles and work out who 26:16 that is? We look forward to studying that with you next 26:19 week. Aunt Cecily shall we go over our memory verse? 26:23 Yes. Are you ready boys and girls. Let's read it together. 26:24 Isaiah 40:29-He gives power to the weak, and to those who have 26:32 no might, He increases strength. 26:35 Ben, what did you learn about the King today. 26:40 That when Jesus comes back we're going to know it because it's 26:43 going to be so noisy. 26:46 Oh yes. Nobody's going to miss it. Now it's time to sing our 26:49 farewell song to the boys and girls again.
