00:01 Hello there and Happy Sabbath.
00:02 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King.
00:52 ¤ ¤
00:53 Hello, welcome to our worship time. I'm so glad you came back.
00:56 Come on in and join us. Hello
00:57 Auntie Cecily. It's so good to see you again.
01:00 Ah, it's good to be here, Auntie Nat. I really enjoy just having
01:05 worship with the children each Sabbath.
01:07 Yes, I can't believe another week has already gone by and the
01:10 kids are already here in the lounge room with us to welcome
01:14 the King. How are you kids? Fine, good. Ah, that's good.
01:18 Now Auntie Cecily I know that you want to say hello to someone
01:20 who's been watching the program.
01:22 Yes, I want to say hello to Cara in Victoria, Australia. Hi Cara.
01:27 I'm so happy that so many of you are joining us in worshipping
01:32 the King. Can you remember who else we need to say hello to?
01:36 Yes, it's Teddy. How are you Teddy. I'm so glad that you're on
01:40 the couch with us again. Aunt Cecily, can you please say a
01:44 prayer for us to open our worship time?
01:45 Yes, I'd love to. Let's bow our heads. Dear Father in heaven,
01:49 we thank you so much for keeping us safe during the week. And we
01:53 thank you for this Sabbath and we just pray that you would be
01:57 with us now as we worship you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
02:00 Amen. Do you know we have blessings to share with other
02:06 people on the Sabbath. It's a really good thing to do. And
02:12 Caleigh I'm going to get you to read the blessing that we can do
02:15 Take a meal around for someone who's unable to prepare food
02:22 for Sabbath.
02:24 Wow. That is such a great idea, especially for an older person
02:27 or someone who's had a difficult week and they can't
02:29 prepare food for the Sabbath. That would be great wouldn't it?
02:33 Do you sometimes help mom or dad cook a meal to take to someone
02:36 else? Can you think of a meal that you would like to prepare
02:40 with your mom to take to someone? Salad. Well I think
02:43 that would be a great blessing to someone, especially because
02:46 of circumstances they couldn't prepare a meal for the Sabbath.
02:50 I think that would be a terrific blessing. Aunt Cecily you have
02:52 a blessing to share with us as well. Can you please share that
02:55 with us?
02:56 Yes. Do you remember our talk last Sabbath, we discovered that
03:01 if we love Jesus we'll not be afraid of His second coming.
03:05 Later on we'll study about Samuel and how God spoke to him
03:10 when he was a young boy. This was to prepare him for a great
03:16 work that God wanted to do through him. When Jesus returns
03:20 He'll speak with a loud voice. You can read about that in
03:24 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18. It says the Lord Himself will descend
03:30 from heaven with a shout and with the voice of an archangel
03:35 with the trumpet of God and the dead in Christ will rise first.
03:40 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up
03:43 together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and
03:48 thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one
03:53 another with these words. Isn't that an amazing promise. So our
03:58 family and friends who died believing in Jesus will be
04:02 raised from the dead at Jesus' second coming and those of us
04:07 who are alive at Jesus' second coming will be taken to meet the
04:11 Lord in the air and He will take us back to heaven. Let's
04:15 comfort one another with these words just as the verse tells
04:18 us to and believe in God's promises.
04:21 Oh Amen Auntie Cecily. That message gives us so much hope
04:27 and comfort. What do you think? Yes. I think it does. Look who's
04:31 arrived. Thanks Pastor Rick for joining us again in our worship
04:36 Oh, glad to. And I heard or
04:39 understand that you're studying
04:42 Samuel. Is that right? I've a song about Samuel. This is
04:46 called Samuel.
05:43 Pastor Rick, can we sing A Little Talk With Jesus?
05:46 Ah, that's a great choice Caleb. Let's sing it together, and
05:50 we'll sing it through twice.
06:10 And again.
06:33 Pastor Rick can we please sing the Sanctuary Song.
06:40 That's a lovely song, the Sanctuary Song.
07:26 We'll sing it again.
08:06 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's always so good to praise God in song.
08:10 Now guess what? Dr. John is back with some more wonderful
08:16 stories for us. We learn so much from his stories, don't we? Yeah
08:20 Let's go and join him in his study.
08:22 Hello boys and girls. I'm Dr. John and welcome to story time
08:27 and welcome to boys and girls wherever you are. I want to tell
08:32 you the story of little Lynn Barnhart. He was born almost 96
08:37 years ago in New Zealand. He had some sadness. He lost his mommy.
08:42 He had to live an orphanage, but his daddy got him back and
08:45 trained him up. He loved Jesus. He didn't know what he wanted
08:50 to do. He was very smart. But the war came and he was sent way
08:55 up to New Guinea. He didn't want to shoot people so he became an
09:00 army medic, looking after wounded soldiers. And after the
09:04 war he thought, I like New Guinea. I want to live here and
09:09 he opened a leper hospital. And he did so much walking and when
09:14 you go to New Guinea you're either going up or you're going
09:19 down. You're going up or down. There are 800 mountain chains.
09:25 And as he was walking sometimes he'd see bzzzz. There we go an
09:31 airplane he said. I want an airplane. He loved to fly and he
09:38 begged the church leaders, Please, get me an airplane.
09:41 And finally he got his airplane. It was the happiest day in
09:49 Pastor Barnhart's life. A brand new airplane! A Cessna. And you
09:56 know, he was so happy. I have flown with him many times
10:03 sitting in that seat. He did many hours, but one day he was
10:09 up in the highlands and he was with the natives and before he
10:14 could take off again he had to get the airplane propeller...
10:21 Now airplane propellers are very important, but don't walk into
10:25 them. He had to turn it around so it would be ready to start
10:30 when he pressed the button. And as he was turning it, all of a
10:35 sudden it coughed and the propeller spun and got him in
10:40 the leg and there was only that much skin left holding his leg
10:46 on. The doctor was going to take it off. This here is the
10:52 propeller that chopped Pastor Barnhart in the leg. They were
10:55 going to take his leg off and he said please don't take my leg
11:00 off. I'll never be able to fly again. I'll never be able to
11:05 walk in New Guinea. And they had a very good doctor in New
11:10 Guinea and they carefully got the blood vessels back but his
11:14 leg was in a terrible state and they few him down to Sydney and
11:20 he got a very clever orthopedic bone doctor who put his leg back
11:25 together. And I knew that doctor very well because it was my
11:31 father, Dr. Bryan Hammond. And Dr. Hammond fixed his leg and he
11:38 was able to walk again. He had to use a stick and this was
11:44 Pastor Barnhart's stick. It has a crocodile chasing a dog. And
11:50 when he learned to walk properly again, he came to my father and
11:56 said, I want to give you a present because I'm not going
12:01 to use this stick anymore. I'm going to go back to New Guinea
12:06 and to fly my beloved plane. And you know, he did. He flew for
12:11 many, many years. He had so much experience, even though he
12:16 was only a nurse, he did operations on people who were
12:22 speared and cut and they fell down cliffs, he fixed broken
12:28 bones. He was the most marvelous doctor who was ever only a nurse
12:34 and a pilot. You know, he came back here and he flew planes for
12:40 many years until he was over 90. He had a little plane, an
12:46 ultralight and my son now owns that plane and he's fixing it up
12:50 and he can fly it around. Pastor Barnhart was the greatest of our
12:55 mission pilots and we had many wonderful pilots. He and Pastor
13:00 Winch used to fly the plane that had this propeller which is no
13:05 used. Pastor Barnhart is now sleeping in Jesus and one day
13:10 he will fly again. He's not going to need a propeller, he's
13:16 not going to need wings. He will fly with the angels and we look
13:20 forward to seeing Pastor Barnhart in the kingdom of
13:24 heaven.
13:26 Welcome back boys and girls. If you haven't got your Bibles
13:29 ready yet, go get them now so you can follow along with us.
13:31 Kate, can you please say a prayer for us to open our Bible
13:34 study.
13:35 Dear Father, thank you for the many blessings you provide for
13:40 us. We thank you for our Bibles and ask you to help us to
13:44 understand what we read. Please be with the children who are
13:48 watching at home. In Jesus' name Amen.
13:51 Amen. Thanks Kate. Now Bethany we studied about two people last
13:56 Sabbath. Who were they?
13:58 Ruth and Naomi.
13:59 And what happened?
14:00 Ruth wanted to follow Naomi so Ruth could follow her God.
14:04 That was a good story wasn't it? Today, boys and girls, we're
14:08 going to a new book in the Bible and that is 1 Samuel. Now Anna,
14:12 you're going to read our first reading. We're going to read
14:14 our first reading. We're going to read about a man named
14:15 Elkanah. Can you read 1 Samuel 1:2-5.
14:22 And he had two wives; the name of one was Hannah and the name
14:26 of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children but Hannah had no
14:30 children. This man went up from his city yearly to worship and
14:34 sacrifice to the Lord of Hosts in Shiloh. Also the two sons of
14:38 Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests of the Lord were there.
14:44 And whenever the time came for Elkanah to make an offering he
14:49 would give portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and
14:55 daughters, but to Hannah he would give a double portion for
14:58 he loved Hannah although the Lord had closed her womb.
15:02 Do you think having more than one wife is a good idea. No.
15:05 No. We have studied many times how much stress that causes on
15:08 a family. When the family visited the sanctuary, even
15:11 though Hannah had no children, Elkanah would give her a double
15:15 portion of the offering because he loved her so much. But let's
15:19 see what Peninnah's reaction is. Matthew can you please read
15:23 1 Samuel 1:6-7.
15:25 And her rival also provoked her severely to make her miserable
15:30 because the Lord had closed her womb. So it was, year by year
15:35 when she went up to the house of the Lord that she provoked
15:39 her; therefore, she wept and did not eat.
15:42 Mmm. So Peninnah gave her a really hard time and harassed
15:46 her so much about not having children the Bible tells us that
15:50 Hannah was miserable. Do you think that's a nice thing to do?
15:54 No. I don't think it is. So Hannah went to the door of the
15:59 sanctuary and prayed and Kate can you point to the gate of the
16:03 sanctuary of the tabernacle there. Yeah, that's probably
16:06 where she went to to pray. Okay I think that's a very good place
16:10 to go. It's always good to pray to God isn't it. Kate, can you
16:14 please read 1 Samuel 1:11.
16:17 Then she made a vow and said, O Lord of hosts, if You will
16:23 indeed look on the affliction of your maid servant and remember
16:27 me and not forget your maid servant but will give your maid
16:31 a man child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of
16:35 his life and no razor shall come upon his head.
16:38 So Hannah is promising that she will give her first child
16:42 back to the Lord if only the Lord would allow her to have
16:46 a child. Now I just read something interesting that no
16:49 razor shall come upon his head meaning that she was going to
16:53 dedicate her child to the Lord's service as a Nazarite. Now first
16:57 Eli comes across Hannah praying so fervently that he thinks that
17:02 she's drunk and he calls her on it. Let's see what Hannah's
17:07 response is. Caleb can you please read 1 Samuel 1:15, 17.
17:12 But Hannah answered and said No, my lord, I am a woman of
17:17 sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating
17:23 drink but have poured out my soul before the Lord. Then Eli
17:27 answered and said, Go in peace and the God of Israel grant you
17:31 the petition which you have asked of Him.
17:33 Okay, so Eli, the head priest, sent Hannah home with a
17:38 blessing and verse 18 tells us Hannah was no longer sad.
17:43 I think when we have great burdens like Hannah's, going to
17:47 God in prayer is a positive thing to do. Let's look at our
17:51 memory verse. We're going to go to James 5:13 and boys and girls
17:55 at home, James is in the New Testament. We're going to read
18:01 that together. So where your bookmarks are James 5:13.
18:06 Let's read that.
18:07 Is anyone among you suffering, let him pray. That is a very
18:14 good promise for us to remember. So let's see what happens next.
18:21 J J can you go back to 1 Samuel and read us 1 Samuel 1:20.
18:27 So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah
18:36 conceived and bore a son and called his name Samuel saying
18:39 because I have asked for him from the Lord.
18:43 Wow. So did God answer her prayer? Yes. Yes He did. Now
18:46 when Samuel was a small child, Hannah took him up to the
18:50 sanctuary on a yearly visit. Let's see what she says to
18:54 priest Eli. Aunt Cecily you're going to read 1 Samuel 1:26-28.
19:00 And she said, O my lord, as your soul lives my lord, I am the
19:05 woman who stood by you here praying to the Lord. For this
19:10 child I prayed and the Lord has granted me my petition which
19:16 I asked of Him. Therefore, I also have lent him to the Lord
19:20 as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord. So they
19:25 worshipped the Lord there.
19:28 Wow. So Hannah had such great faith to leave her child at the
19:33 sanctuary with Priest Eli. Let's see what happens next.
19:38 Something happens in the sanctuary. Anna, can you
19:42 Now the sons of Eli were corrupt They did not know the Lord.
19:48 So we know from 1 Samuel 1:3 that Eli's sons' names were
19:53 Hophni and Phinehas. They were doing unholy things in a holy
19:58 place. Priest Eli their father had neglected to reprimand his
20:02 sons and he let their behavior continue. Finally the children
20:08 of Israel complained so much to Eli about his sons that he
20:13 goes to his sons. Eli pleads but no avail, they still sin before
20:17 the Lord. In verse 27 the Bible tells us that a man of God came
20:21 to Eli to warn him of his sons' behavior, but again it all falls
20:24 on deaf ears. Okay, Bethany let's see what's happening now.
20:29 1 Samuel 2:18-21.
20:33 But Samuel ministered before the Lord even as a child wearing a
20:37 linen ephod. Moreover his mother used to make him a little robe
20:41 and bring it to him year by year when she came with her husband
20:45 to offer the yearly sacrifice. And Eli would bless Elkanah and
20:49 his wife and say, The Lord give you descendants from this woman
20:53 for the loan that was given to the Lord. Then they would go
20:57 to their own home and the Lord visited Hannah so that she
21:00 conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile the
21:05 child Samuel grew before the Lord.
21:07 Thanks Bethany. So Hannah visited her son once a year
21:10 She didn't forget about him even though she took him to the
21:14 sanctuary and she brought a robe which she had made for him.
21:17 And Priest Eli continued to bless Elkanah and Hannah and how
21:21 many more children did Hannah have. Five. She had five more
21:24 children. Kate can you please read 1 Samuel 2:26.
21:31 And the child Samuel grew in stature and in favor both with
21:39 the Lord and men.
21:40 Thanks Kate. Let's look at our Torch Light now because Mrs.
21:43 White's writings shine something on that verse for us. Caleb can
21:47 you please read that for us.
21:51 Though Samuel's youth was passed
21:55 at the tabernacle devoted to the worship of God, he was not free
22:03 from evil influences or sinful example. The sons of Eli feared
22:07 not God, nor honored their father; but Samuel did not seek
22:11 their company nor follow their evil ways. It was his constant
22:14 endeavor to become what God would have him. This is the
22:18 privilege of every youth. God is pleased when even little
22:22 children given themselves to His service.
22:24 Wow. Thanks Caleb, that was beautifully read. Isn't that a
22:28 lovely promise for us. God can use even children for his
22:32 service. So God blessed Samuel for choosing to follow Him. Now
22:36 because of the sin of Eli's family and the Israelites
22:41 following the Gods of the Canaanites, God was not
22:44 communicating or revealing Himself to His people. But
22:46 something very special happened because of Samuel's faithfulness
22:51 Let's read what happened one night when Samuel and Eli had
22:54 gone to bed. J J you're going to read that for us in
22:58 1 Samuel 3:4-7.
23:00 ...that the Lord called Samuel and he answered, Here I am.
23:07 So he ran to Eli and said, Here I am for you called me and he
23:16 said I did not call. Lie down again, and he went and lay down.
23:21 Then the Lord called yet again, Samuel. So Samuel arose and
23:27 went to Eli and said, Here I am for you called me. He answered
23:33 I didn't not call, my son. Lie down again. Now Samuel did not
23:40 yet know the Lord nor was the word of the Lord yet revealed
23:48 to him.
23:49 Thanks J J. Aunt Cecily can you please read 1 Samuel 3:8-10.
23:54 And the Lord called Samuel again the third time, so he arose and
23:59 went to Eli and said, Here I am for you did call me. Then Eli
24:04 perceived that the Lord had called the boy. Therefore, Eli
24:09 said to Samuel, Go lie down and it shall be if He calls you that
24:16 you must say, Speak Lord, for your servant hears. So Samuel
24:20 went and lay down in his place. Now the Lord came and stood
24:27 and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel and Samuel
24:33 answered, Speak for your servant hears.
24:35 Wow. So God decides to speak to Samuel. He was only a child.
24:39 What an amazing honor that was. We are told that Samuel was only
24:44 about 12 years old when this happened. So God was preparing
24:48 and going to use Samuel in a very special way to do his work.
24:51 Thank you boys and girls for reading along with us. We have
24:55 a devotional available that goes into more depth on what we
24:59 studied today. Here's how you can get that.

25:27 enjoying the show. So hop online today dwk@3abnaustralia.org.au.
25:29 Thanks Nick and Sarah. Boys and girls, Jesus wants to be your
25:33 very best friend and the way to get to know Jesus is by reading
25:37 your Bible every day. That's why we've developed the daily
25:41 devotionals to help you with this and if you have any
25:45 questions about any of the Bible studies you can contact us at
25:49 www.adaywiththeking.com. Auntie Nat can you tell us what we're
25:53 going to be studying about next week. Yes, next Sabbath we're
25:58 study about something that gets stolen. Come back next week and
26:01 we'll study about that together. Aunt Cecily, shall we go over
26:04 the memory verse we learnt in our Bible study today.
26:07 Yes, this is an easy one to remember. Say it with me
26:10 together boys and girls.
26:13 James 5:13. Is anyone among you suffering. Let Him pray.
26:19 J J we've come to the end of another worship time. What
26:25 did you learn from our worship today?
26:28 That Samuel had faith in God.
26:31 Yes, he certainly was faithful even though there was a lot of
26:34 evil around him. And he's a good example of what we should be
26:38 like today and that we should stay faithful, no matter what.
26:41 Yes, that's a good example isn't it? Auntie Cecily do you think
26:44 we're about ready to sing our blessing song to the children
26:47 at home?
26:48 Yes it's sad, but it's a lovely way to say good bye to everybody
26:56 So let's turn around and do that
26:57 ¤May God bless you and keep you and fill your heart with love¤
27:12 ¤May God guide and protect you and watch you from above¤
27:22 ¤As Sabbath after Sabbath we greet the day of rest¤
27:32 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed¤
27:42 ¤Good bye my friends till we meet again¤
27:47 ¤For another day with the King¤
27:51 Good bye. See you next Sabbath.
