00:01 Hello there, Happy Sabbath.
00:03 Come on in, we're about to meet with the King. 00:05 ¤ ¤ 00:53 Hello, I'm Auntie Cecily. 00:55 And I'm Auntie Nat. 00:56 It's so good 00:57 you could come back and join us 00:59 to worship the King as we 01:00 welcome in the Sabbath. How 01:01 are you all today? Good. Good. Yes Bethany. 01:06 May I say hello to my grandma? 01:07 Yes, what's your grandma's name 01:09 Grandma Lynn. 01:12 Lynn, okay. Hello Grandma Lynn. 01:15 Thanks Bethany. We know a lot of our older folk watch this 01:18 program and it's so nice to have you join us. And we hope 01:22 you feel welcomed too. And speaking of welcomes, Welcome 01:26 Teddy. You've sort of become part of the furniture, haven't 01:30 you? He sure has. 01:31 Auntie Nat, would you like to say a prayer for us before we 01:35 commence our worship time. 01:36 Sure, I'd love to. Dearest heavenly Father, we thank you 01:38 so much for bringing us safely through another week. We thank 01:42 you for the Sabbath where we can worship you and we ask Lord a 01:46 special welcome and a blessing on the children at home. We ask 01:48 Lord would you please be with them and especially the older 01:51 folk as well. And we ask this in Jesus' name, Amen. 01:55 Amen. Thanks Auntie Nat. Now let's have a look in our 01:59 blessing box. Let's see what blessing we might be able to 02:03 with someone else. Kate would you like to open the box and 02:07 read a blessing to us? 02:09 Invite a friend to church. 02:10 Oh that would be a nice thing to do. What do you think 02:14 Auntie Nat? 02:15 Oh I think that would be a fantastic idea. Do you know when 02:17 I was a child some relatives took me to church. And do you 02:20 know what that sowed the seed in my mind and helped me decide to 02:24 follow Jesus when I was older. So I think it's a fabulous idea. 02:28 Oh, that's lovely. Can you think of someone you could take to 02:33 church next week? Kate can you think of somethings that might 02:36 be a blessing to someone if you brought them along to church? 02:39 They can learn that Jesus loves them very much. 02:42 So inviting someone to church could be a really lovely 02:45 blessing for them. It could change their lives couldn't it? 02:49 Yes. Boys and girls, have you had a special experience where 02:53 you've invited someone to church and it ended up being a blessing 02:57 We'd love to hear about it. We could share it with the children 03:00 here. Our address is www. adaywiththeking. com. 03:05 Yes, we'd love to hear about your experience. Auntie Cecily 03:08 you've been sharing so many blessings with us about the 03:11 second coming of Jesus. Do you have another one for us? 03:14 I do. Remember how we spoke last Sabbath about what happens when 03:18 Jesus comes. God will raise the dead and those who are alive 03:23 will be taken up to meet with Jesus in the clouds. Later in 03:28 Bible study we'll discover how the Philistines were deceived. 03:32 Do you know they thought that if they stole the ark of the 03:36 covenant that they would have the power of God and that they'd 03:40 be able to use it for themselves Before Jesus comes Satan will 03:45 try to deceive everyone by impersonating Jesus. If you see 03:49 someone walking around on the earth claiming to be Jesus, 03:55 don't believe it. When Jesus comes the second time to take us 03:59 home, He will not touch the ground. He will be in the air 04:03 in the cloud of angels. Listen to these verses found in 04:08 Matthew 24:4, 5. And Jesus answered and said to them take 04:13 heed that no one deceives you for many will come in my name 04:19 saying, I am the Christ, and will deceive many and in verses 04:25 26 and 27 it says, Therefore if they say to you look he is in 04:31 the desert, do not go out, or look, He's in the inner rooms, 04:36 do not believe it, for as the lightening comes from the east 04:40 and flashes to the west, so shall the coming of the Son of 04:45 Man be. So beware and do not let Satan deceive you. Let's 04:50 remember to read and believe in God's promises. 04:52 Oh, Amen, Auntie Cecily. Thank you so much for sharing that 04:56 with us. Jesus really wants us to read the word so we won't 05:01 be deceived about the manner of His coming. Oh look who's just 05:05 snuck in. Thanks Pastor Rick for joining us. We are so blessed 05:09 by your musical talent. 05:11 You know, I'm glad to be back again, especially with you 05:13 children and I understand Aunt Cecily's been taking us through 05:16 Jesus return or Jesus coming back to earth again. I have a 05:20 song just on that theme. It's called Jesus Is Coming Again. 05:24 Do you want to sing this one? 07:52 Pastor Rick may we please sing Wonderful, Wonderful? 07:57 What a wonderful song, Bright idea. 08:20 Let's sing it again. 08:43 Thanks Pastor Rick. Won't it be wonderful when we get to sing 08:47 with the angels in heaven? And now it's time for a story from 08:51 Dr. John. Do you want to see what he's up to in his study? 08:54 Let's go and find Dr. John. 08:57 Hello Boys and girls. I'm 09:00 Dr. John. Welcome to story time. 09:01 And welcome to all the other boys and girls who are watching 09:07 I want to tell you about Bryan and Olive and their three little 09:12 boys. That was Dr. Bryan and they lived up at Kempsey and he 09:17 had a new house, a new car, three little boys. Oh he was so 09:22 happy until one day the phone rang. Hello, is that Dr. Bryan? 09:29 Yes. Would you like to be a missionary? No. I've got a house 09:35 that I'm paying for and a car. He hung up. But then he 09:39 thought about it and he said to Olive, Maybe if they ever ask 09:43 us again, we should say yes. And you know what? The phone 09:48 rang again. Would you like to be a missionary? Yes. Where to? 09:54 Well they went to Panang in Malaya, we call it Malaysia now. 09:59 But before they left they were told to be very careful of two 10:04 things. One were the bandits who like to shoot missionaries. 10:10 The other thing, they said there are lots of snakes and Bryan 10:16 said really? Dangerous snakes? Very dangerous snakes. In fact, 10:23 I've got a photo of the type of snake. It is a cobra. And when 10:30 a cobra gets angry, they can stand that far up and if 10:34 one bites you and you haven't got the medicine, start saying 10:40 your prayers because you've only got 25 minutes and you're dead. 10:46 Well, with that news Dr. Bryan, Mrs. Olive and the three boys 10:52 Bryan, John and Gordan. What were their names? 10:56 Bryan, John and Gordon. 10:59 They arrived at their house. They'd been flying for a day and 11:04 a night, and it was nighttime. They went to bed and early the 11:09 next morning Dr. Bryan came out and he opened the back door. It 11:14 was very hot. He didn't have shoes on and he put his foot 11:20 on the back of a King Cobra. And he shut that door so fast 11:26 he nearly left his foot outside. And he came in and he said to 11:32 Olive, don't unpack the bags, we are not going anywhere 11:37 except home. And he had breakfast and his hands were 11:43 shaking. Then he thought God has asked us to come all the way 11:48 out here to be missionaries and now we're going home. That's 11:52 not very much faith in that. And he said to Olive, I tell you 11:57 what I'm going to do. I'm going to get my Bible, we're going to 12:01 pray and I'm going to get the Bible like this and I'm going to 12:04 look the other way and I'm just going to open it and put my 12:08 thumb inside and if there is not a message under my thumb, we'll 12:13 go home. Is that fair? Well he thought it was. Had prayer, 12:19 opened his Bible and he put it on a text he'd never ever read 12:24 before. It's Luke chapter 10 and verse 19: Listen to this-Behold 12:30 I give unto you power to tread on serpents (snakes) and 12:38 scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing will 12:42 ever hurt you. He looked at that text and he said to Olive, I 12:47 I think we have to stay. And you know they stayed there for 12 12:53 years and they killed 12 snakes in the bathroom in that house. 12:59 Little John went to the bathroom one night and he 13:05 turned on the light. He looked on the floor, because the shower 13:09 used to go under the floor and right there was a yikes, like 13:14 that. Yes, you got a fright and so did John. And daddy had to 13:18 come and get rid of it. Do you want to see a picture of Bryan 13:24 and John and Gordon. That's what they looked like when they lived 13:29 in Penang and they were never bitten by any snakes. That's 13:35 Bryan, that's Gordon, who's that John. What's my name? John. 13:41 That's me. That was my mommy and daddy and we had that as our 13:47 favorite text for all those years and it is still our 13:52 favorite text. Power to tread on serpents and scorpions and 13:56 nothing will hurt you, because God looks after missionaries. 14:00 Thank you boys and girls. 14:02 Hi boys and girls. Welcome to our Bible study. If you haven't 14:04 got your Bibles ready yet, go get them now so you can follow 14:07 along with us. Auntie Cecily, would you like to say a prayer 14:10 for us to open our Bible study today? 14:13 Yes. Dear Father, thank you so much for our Bibles. We just 14:17 pray that you would help us to understand the things that we 14:21 read and please give us willing hearts to follow Your word. 14:24 Please especially bless the children and families at home 14:28 who are watching too. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen. 14:31 Amen. Now Anna, we were studying about some interesting 14:35 characters last Sabbath. Who was the main character of our story 14:40 last week. Samuel. Samuel. Now was he obedient to God. Yeah. 14:45 He was wasn't he? He was only a child wasn't he. What about 14:49 Hophni and Phinehas. No. No they weren't obedient to God at all 14:52 were they. And our story today that we're going to talk about 14:56 is what happens with the consequence of not being 15:00 obedient to God. It's a very interesting story. So Anna 15:04 you're going to start off our reading with 1 Samuel 4:1-2. 15:10 Now Israel went out to battle against the Philistines and 15:15 encamped beside Ebenezer and the Philistines encamped in Aphek. 15:19 Then the Philistines put themselves in battle array 15:23 against Israel and when they joined battle, Israel was 15:27 defeated by the Philistines who killed about 4000 men of the 15:30 army in the field. 15:33 Mmm. Thanks Anna. So the Israelites went to war without 15:37 consulting God or the high priest. Their spiritual decline 15:41 and wandering away from God's laws had caused them to make 15:45 an unwise decision Unfortunately because of their unwise decision 15:48 4000 men died in battle. Let's 15:52 continue to see what happens next. Matthew can you please 15:56 read 1 Samuel 4:3. 16:00 And when the people had come into the camp, the elders of 16:04 Israel said, Why has the Lord defeated us today before the 16:07 Philistines. Let us bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord 16:11 from Shiloh to us, that when it comes among us it may save us 16:14 from the hands of our enemies. 16:17 So Hophni and Phinehas went into the sanctuary at Shiloh and took 16:22 the ark out of the most holy place without permission of 16:26 father, the high priest. Now Aunt Cecily can you just put 16:30 that up for the camera please. Now were they supposed to go 16:34 into the Most Holy place. No. No, only Eli they high priest 16:38 was supposed to go in there and only once a year on the day of 16:43 atonement. Thanks Aunt Cecily. Now when the ark arrived at the 16:47 Israelite encampment there was a huge shout and cheer from them 16:51 because they thought that now God would win the battle for 16:54 them. After all that of going to get the ark, the Philistines 16:58 actually won the battle and 30,000 Israelites died. God was 17:04 not with the ark. God only resided with the ark when the 17:09 children of Israel were being obedient to the 10 commandments. 17:12 That is what the ark was for. What was the ark for, what was 17:14 inside the ark of the covenant? 17:16 The 10 commandments. 17:17 The 10 commandments. Kate can you please take the blue cloth 17:20 off of our ark of the covenant so that the children can see at 17:23 home. Thank you. Isn't that beautiful. So God was unable to 17:27 bless this endeavor. Can we keep the commandments on our own. 17:32 No. We can't. We have to invite Jesus into our hearts and He 17:36 will help us keep them. Let's go to our memory verse found in 17:40 Philippians 4:7. Okay. Let's read that together. 17:49 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, 17:54 will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 18:00 So if we pray to Jesus every day and ask Him to help us keep 18:05 these commandments, He will. Okay, Kate, can you please read 18:10 1 Samuel 4:11. 18:14 Also the ark of God was captured and the two sons of Eli, Hophni 18:19 and Phinehas died. 18:21 Mmm. So Hophni and Phinehas died among the 30,000 and the 18:27 Philistines they stole that ark. Now an Israelite from the tribe 18:31 of Benjamin ran all the way back from the battlefield to Shiloh 18:35 where the sanctuary was to tell this awful news. The ark being 18:39 taken was too much for Eli and he fell off his chair and he 18:43 died. Let's continue reading what happened to the ark. J J 18:46 can you please read 1 Samuel 5:1-4. 18:50 Yeah. Then the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it 18:56 from Ebenezer to Ashdod. When the Philistines took the ark of 19:02 God they brought it into the house of Dagon and set it by 19:06 Dagon. And when the people of Ashdod arose early in the 19:11 morning there was Dagon fallen on its face to the earth before 19:19 the ark of the Lord. So they took Dagon and set it in its 19:23 place. And when they arose early the next morning there was Dagon 19:31 fallen on its face to the ground before the ark of the 19:35 Lord. The head of Dagon and both the palms of its hands were 19:42 broken off on the threshold. Only Dagon's torso was left 19:49 on it. 19:50 Thanks, J J. So this is showing that God is more powerful than 19:54 the idols. The idols were bowing to God. Now Aunt Cecily, can you 19:59 show us where Ashdod is on the map where they'd taken the ark 20:03 to. All the way from down there. Okay, we've got a map here boys 20:07 and girls showing the journey of were the stolen ark was taken 20:11 from Shiloh at the sanctuary, all the way down to Ashdod. 20:15 Okay, Aunt Cecily. You're going to read 1 Samuel 5:6. 20:20 But the hand of the Lord was heavy on the people of Ashdod 20:24 and he ravaged them and struck them with tumors, both Ashdod 20:28 and its territory. 20:30 So God sent a plague of tumors on the people and they decided 20:34 they could keep the ark no longer and they sent it to Gath. 20:39 Okay. Anna, can you please read 1 Samuel 5:9. 20:43 So it was after they had carried it away that the hand of the 20:47 Lord was against the city with a very great destruction and He 20:51 struck the men of the city, both small and great, with tumors and 20:55 tumors broke out on them. 20:57 Thanks Anna. So the people in Gath were also struck down with 21:01 tumors and they sent it to Ekron Now Aunt Cecily can you please 21:05 point to Gath and then up to Ekron. They took it all the way 21:09 up there. Thank you. Matthew, can you please read 21:12 1 Samuel 5:11-12 21:14 So they sent and gathered together all the Lords of the 21:18 Philistines and said, Send away the ark of God of Israel and let 21:23 it go back to its own place, so that it does not kill us and our 21:27 people, for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the 21:30 city and the hand of God was very heavy there. And the men 21:34 who did not die were stricken with the tumors and the cry of 21:37 the city went up to heaven. 21:40 Thanks Matthew. So the people of Ekron now get the plague of 21:44 tumors and they want to get rid of that ark. The Philistines 21:47 realized they need to do something with the ark but they 21:51 are not sure how to remove it from their country. They asked 21:55 the priests and the wise men of their land and they put it on a 21:59 bullock cart and they sent it on its way with a very special 22:03 gift next to it to try and appease God for what they've done 22:07 Do we steal from God? No. No we don't. Bethany can you please 22:11 read 1 Samuel 6:13-14. 22:16 Now the people of Beth Shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest 22:19 in the valley and they lifted their eyes and saw the ark and 22:22 rejoiced to see it. Then the cart came into the field of 22:25 Joshua of Beth Shemesh and stood there. A large stone was there 22:29 so they split the wood of the cart and offered the cows as 22:32 a burnt offering to the Lord. 22:34 So the ark arrived safely back in Israel. Can you please show 22:39 us Beth Shemesh on the map Aunt Cecily. There we go. But 22:42 something happened to the people of Beth Shemesh. Kate, 22:46 can you please read 1 Samuel 6:19. 22:50 Then He struck the men of Beth Shemesh because they had looked 22:56 into the ark of the Lord. He struck 50,070 men of the people 23:01 and the people lamented because the Lord had struck the people 23:05 with a great slaughter. 23:07 Mmm. Thanks Kate. Very sobering. Aunt Cecily can you please read 23:10 our Torch Light, Mrs. White's writings, because she shines 23:14 something very interesting on that verse that we just read. 23:17 All Israel had been taught to 23:22 regard the ark with awe and 23:27 reverence. When required to remove it from place to place, 23:31 the Levites were not so much as to look upon it. Only once a 23:35 year was the high priest permitted to behold the ark of 23:40 God. Even the heathen Philistines had no dared to 23:43 remove its coverings. Angels of heaven, unseen, ever attended 23:48 it in all its journeying's. The irreverent daring of the people 23:54 of Beth Shemesh was speedily punished. Many were smitten with 23:59 sudden death. 24:00 Thanks Auntie Cecily. So did the Israelites know better. They did 24:04 know better. They knew that they weren't supposed to take the 24:08 blue cloth off the ark of the covenant. Do you know what, 24:11 even the Philistines who were their enemies didn't remove that 24:14 covering. But the Israelites really did commit a great sin 24:17 because they went and took that cloth off and they even dared to 24:21 open the lid and look in. So God was not happy with them and they 24:25 suffered some very grave consequences. Caleb, can you 24:28 please read 1 Samuel 6:20-21. 24:33 And the men of Beth Shemesh said who is able to stand before this 24:40 holy Lord God and to whom shall it go up from us. So they sent 24:46 messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath Jearim saying the 24:50 Philistines have brought back the ark of the Lord. Come down 24:55 and take it up with you. 24:58 Thanks Caleb. So the ark goes to a place called Kirjath Jearim 25:04 Can you point that out. Thank you Cecily. Thank you boys and 25:07 girls for reading along with us. We have a devotional available 25:11 that goes into more depth on what we studied today. Here is 25:15 how you can get that. 25:16 Hey, boys and girls, like Auntie Nat said, you can download our 25:21 devotionals free from our website at 25:23 www.adaywiththeking.com. 25:28 Hey Nick don't forget about Teddy. 25:30 Oh yes. While you're there you can visit Teddy's blog. He's 25:34 posted some videos of his intense training for the show. 25:37 Boys and girls, we want to hear from you. Send us an e-mail 25:40 at dwk@3abnaustralia.org.au on how you're enjoying the show. 25:42 So hop on line today at dwk@3abnaustralia.org.au. 25:44 Thanks Sarah and Nick. Yes, we'd love to hear from you. Auntie 25:48 Nat can you tell us what we're going to study in our lesson 25:52 next week. 25:53 Yes. Next Sabbath we're going to study about kings. Can you find 25:57 out in your Bible who was the first king of Israel. We look 26:00 forward to studying that with you next week. Auntie Cecily 26:03 shall we go over our memory verse. 26:04 Yes. Children can we read this all together? 26:20 Jeremiah, what did you learn about the King today? 26:21 To read our Bibles so we won't be deceived by Satan. 26:29 Yes that's so important. Jesus wants us all to be in heaven 26:34 with Him. He doesn't want any of us to stray away and be 26:38 deceived. The Bible truths keep us connected with Jesus don't 26:43 they. Auntie Nat it's almost time our worship's come to an 26:47 end. 26:48 Is it that time again. It goes by so fast. Children are you 26:51 ready to sing the blessing song to the children at home. Yes. 26:55 Okay, so let's turn around and do that. 27:01 ¤May God bless you and keep you, And fill your heart with love¤ 27:11 ¤May God guide and protect you And watch you from above¤ 27:23 ¤As Sabbath after Sabbath We greet the day of rest¤ 27:33 ¤The day the King of glory has sanctified and blessed¤ 27:43 ¤Good bye my friends till we meet again¤ 27:49 ¤For another day with the King¤ 27:54 Good bye, see you next Sabbath 27:59 ¤ ¤ |
