00:01 Hello there! Happy Sabbath!
00:02 Come on in, we're about to meet with the King!
00:51 Hello everyone! Hello Aunty Nat!
00:54 Hello Aunty Cecily, are you excited about
00:56 our worship time today?
00:57 I am and I know the boys and girls here
01:00 are excited about all the children joining us
01:02 from home - aren't you? YES!
01:04 It's so wonderful that you've been joining us each week.
01:08 And if you're joining in our worship from different
01:10 parts of the world or even here in our own backyard
01:14 of Australia, we'd love to hear about where you're from.
01:18 Our address is on the screen on how you can contact us.
01:22 Hello Teddy! It's lovely to have you here too
01:26 as always, isn't it?
01:28 Anna, could you please say a prayer before
01:30 we commence our worship time? Yes.
01:33 Dear Lord... Thank You for keeping us safe this week.
01:37 We thank and praise You for the Sabbath.
01:39 We thank You for the children that have joined us.
01:42 In Jesus name... Amen, Amen. Thank you Anna.
01:46 So boys and girls, how was your week?
01:49 Anything special happen?
01:51 I've just been on a holiday and saw my new baby cousin.
01:54 Oh, that's wonderful! What a blessing that must be!
01:59 And speaking of blessings, let's have a look at our blessing box.
02:03 Caleb, would you like to open the blessing box
02:06 and read us about how we can bless
02:08 somebody else this Sabbath? Yes.
02:10 "Deliver a DVD of a sermon or an encouraging message
02:14 to someone who is unable to get to church."
02:17 That would be a nice thing to do. Thanks Caleb.
02:21 DVDs are a great way to share about Jesus, isn't it?
02:25 Can you think of some people who don't know anything
02:28 about Jesus, and giving them a DVD to watch a message
02:32 about how much Jesus loves them, that could change their lives.
02:36 What do you think Aunty Nat?
02:37 Oh, I think it's a great idea, I used to have a DVD ministry,
02:41 and I know many people were blessed!
02:44 Caleb, can you think of what type of DVD
02:47 you might like to give to a friend?
02:49 A program like ours.
02:51 That sound like such a great idea, Caleb.
02:54 Sharing our program with others I'm sure would be a blessing
02:56 because it tells people about Jesus.
02:59 Aunt Cecily, you have a message to share with us as well.
03:02 Yes, for many weeks now, we've been talking about the
03:05 second coming of Jesus and how we can trust and believe
03:09 in God's promises in the Bible.
03:11 Later in our Bible study, we'll learn what can happen
03:15 to our lives if we do not repent of our sins.
03:19 When Adam and Eve sinned, it changed everything.
03:23 God didn't want sin to last forever, that's why
03:27 Adam and Eve were permanently shut out of the Garden of Eden
03:30 where the Tree of Life was.
03:32 It was the Tree of Life that could give them eternal life
03:37 when they ate the fruit, so God barred their access to it.
03:41 Also, before Adam and Eve sinned, they could talk
03:45 to God face-to-face, but after sin,
03:49 they could no longer do this.
03:51 Sin caused a barrier between God and man and then
03:55 God gave His Son Jesus to die on the cross
03:59 to break down that barrier for us.
04:02 When Jesus takes us to heaven, the Tree of Life that was in the
04:06 Garden of Eden will be restored to us.
04:09 We'll have free access to it again
04:12 and live forever with Jesus.
04:15 We'll also commune once again with God the Father,
04:19 and Jesus the Son face-to-face with no barriers in-between.
04:24 God misses us so much and wants us home with Him.
04:28 Listen to this verse found in Revelation 22:14...
04:33 It says, "Blessed are those that do His commandments
04:36 that they may have right to the Tree of Life,
04:39 and may enter through the gates into the city."
04:43 God is so good, let's believe in His promises.
04:47 Amen! Thanks Aunty Cecily for sharing that with us.
04:51 Jesus really wants us back in heaven with Him.
04:54 And I can see that Pastor Rick has joined us again.
04:57 Thank you so much, Pastor Rick.
05:00 Now Pastor Rick, I know you'd like to say hello to someone
05:02 who has been watching "A Day With the King."
05:04 Indeed I do have special friends and family who live in
05:08 Queensland who watch "A Day With the King" regularly.
05:10 "Hello to the Kelly family!
05:12 Thanks for being a part of our journey down here,"
05:15 and children, I have a song called, "I Shall See the King."
05:18 Now can we sing this one together? Yes!
05:20 Okay, let's do it.
06:01 Pastor Rick, may we sing "Jesus Loves Me?"
06:04 I think we should sing that song
06:06 cause it's a beautiful song.
07:33 Pastor Rick, can we please sing, "I'm So Happy?"
07:37 Okay Amber, I'm just thinking, we can sing it if we are happy.
07:42 Are we happy? Yes! Okay, we'll sing it then.
08:17 Thanks Pastor Rick, I can't help but feel happy
08:20 when we sing songs about all
08:22 the things Jesus has done for us.
08:25 Now let's join Dr. John in his study and find out
08:29 what surprise he has for us this week!
08:32 Hello boys and girls, I'm Dr. John and welcome
08:35 to story time!
08:37 And the boys and girls watching,
08:39 it is really good to have you too!
08:41 I want to tell you a story about a boy - I don't even know
08:45 his name, how could I sit here and tell you a story
08:47 about someone with no name?
08:49 He did have a name and this story was told to me
08:52 by a missionary called "Pastor Harry Watts,"
08:56 who lived in the Solomon Islands and he saw the little
09:00 boy and he knows the story.
09:02 The little boy had his prized possession, it was a canoe.
09:10 He loved to paddle in that canoe.
09:12 You know, if you and I go into that canoe,
09:14 we'd probably tip it over, but he would paddle a long
09:17 way and his mother would say, "Don't go too far."
09:20 But he actually paddled it one day from one country to another.
09:25 He didn't realize he had crossed an invisible line.
09:28 And he paddled for hours and he saw an island coming up,
09:32 and he thought, "I'm a bit thirsty and a bit hungry,
09:35 I can hear people over there."
09:37 So he paddled and his canoe scrunched up on
09:41 the beach and when he got there, he could see
09:45 the noises weren't very happy.
09:48 He could hear crying and wailing, so he walked closer
09:53 and he had walked into a funeral.
09:57 And a young mother had died and just as she was dying,
10:01 she gave birth to a little baby boy.
10:05 And you know what they were going to do?
10:07 This sounds terrible to us, but they took that baby
10:11 and they were putting it in the grave (it was still alive)
10:15 with its mother.
10:18 And the little boy said, "Hey, hey, hey, hey...
10:21 you can't do that."
10:22 They said, "Sorry, it's our custom,
10:24 we can't look after the baby."
10:26 "Oh no, no, no."
10:28 "Well do you want the baby?"
10:30 "Oh, I'm only 11, I'm too young to be a daddy."
10:37 Have we got any 11-year-old boys here?
10:40 Hey, how would you like to have a baby?
10:43 Would mum be surprised when you got home? Laughter.
10:46 I know your mum, she would be very surprised!
10:49 Well, he took the baby and he put it in the canoe,
10:53 and the sun was beating down,
10:55 and they were saying, "Bye, bye, off you go."
10:56 Oh, he said, "Just a minute," and he went and got
10:59 a banana leaf and he laid it across so the sun
11:03 wouldn't hurt the little baby, and he started to paddle.
11:06 Hours, heading home and when he got home and the canoe
11:10 scrunched up there, his mommy said, "Where have you been?
11:13 What have you been...? What's that noise?"
11:17 "Hello mommy, I've got a surprise for you."
11:21 "This is my son." "What?"
11:23 "And he was given to me today."
11:26 "They were going to bury him alive."
11:28 "You don't know how to look after a baby,
11:30 he's hungry, he's crying!"
11:32 "He hasn't been fed for hours."
11:34 The baby was screaming!
11:36 Quickly, she took the baby and she ran around the village
11:39 and she found all the mothers with young babies because
11:44 they were feeding them and she said, "This baby wants a drink."
11:48 "Oh, give it here," and gave the baby a little drink of milk.
11:51 Went to the next mother, had a bit more.
11:54 Went to the next mother, and round and round the village
11:57 it went and he started to grow.
11:59 And mother said, "I've got a a surprise for you,
12:03 go and plant a garden because he's your baby
12:08 and you're his daddy and you're going to feed him."
12:12 "He won't drink milk for long."
12:13 He went out and he dug a garden and watched it grow.
12:16 And the little boy started to eat and he called his
12:20 11-year-old father "daddy."
12:22 And then the holidays were finished and it was time to
12:27 go to school and he said, "Bye, bye mom, I'm off to..."
12:30 "Where do you think you're going?"
12:33 You're going to take your son to school.
12:36 And so the little baby went to school and all the way through
12:42 school, he had his son - the little baby with him,
12:45 and the son grew up and finally he became a strong man
12:50 and he became a Christian and his father
12:54 was only 11 years older than him.
12:58 But without that, if that boy hadn't have been a Christian,
13:03 in a Christian village where a Christian missionary
13:07 had come and taught them how to live properly,
13:10 he would have died at the age of one day.
13:14 He would have been buried alive, instead, he had a loving
13:18 father and you know, we have a loving Heavenly Father.
13:22 And He must look at us as though the devil is
13:26 burying us alive and the devil laughs but our Heavenly
13:29 Father and this one was only 11, but our Heavenly Father
13:34 has saved us from the devil.
13:36 And that is a wonderful story of the 11-year-old daddy!
13:40 Thank you boys and girls.
13:43 Welcome boys and girls, I'm so glad
13:45 you came back to our Bible study.
13:46 If you haven't got your Bibles ready yet,
13:48 go get them now so you can follow along with us.
13:51 J. J., would you like to say a prayer for us
13:53 to open our study today? Yep! Thank you.
13:56 Dear Father... Thank You for our Bibles.
14:00 Help us to understand what we read and to take it
14:02 to our heart.
14:04 Be with the children watching at home.
14:06 In Jesus name... Amen, Amen!
14:09 Now Kate, we studied about something interesting last
14:12 week, what was that about?
14:13 The Israelites demanded a king.
14:15 Yes they did and who ended up
14:16 being the first king of Israel? Saul.
14:19 Yes it was, wasn't it.
14:20 And today, we're going to study about what happened
14:23 to King Saul.
14:24 So in Saul's second year of his reign, his son Jonathan
14:28 decided to go up and attack
14:30 the Philistine garrison at Geba and was successful.
14:34 War was declared and Saul calls all the men to fight.
14:37 Matthew, can you please read 1 Samuel 13:5-7...
14:42 "Then the Philistines gathered together to fight with Israel,
14:47 30,000 chariots and 6,000 horsemen, and people
14:51 as the sand which is on the seashore in multitude.
14:55 And they came up and encamped in Michmash,
14:59 to the east of Beth Aven.
15:01 When the men of Israel saw that they were in danger
15:04 (for the people were distressed),
15:06 then the people hid in the caves, in thickets, in rocks,
15:09 in holes and in pits.
15:10 And some of the Hebrews crossed over the Jordan to the
15:13 land of Gad and Gilead. As for Saul, he was still in Gilgal,
15:19 and all the people followed him trembling."
15:21 Wow, so when the Israelites saw how vast the
15:25 Philistine army was, they ran and they hid
15:28 and deserted as they were So scared.
15:30 Let's see what happens next.
15:32 Bethany, can you please read 1 Samuel 13:8...
15:35 "Then he waited seven days, according to the time
15:38 set by Samuel, but Samuel did not come to Gilgal;
15:41 and the people were scattered from him."
15:44 So Samuel had previously instructed Saul that he was
15:47 to wait seven days at Gilgal before war, so Samuel
15:51 could come and offer a sacrifice to God for
15:54 protection and victory for the Israelite army.
15:58 Okay Kate, can you please read 1 Samuel 13:9-12, please.
16:03 "So Saul said, "Bring a burnt offering and peace offerings
16:07 here to me." And he offered the burnt offering.
16:11 Now it happened, as soon as he had finished presenting
16:14 the burnt offering, that Samuel came and Saul went out
16:18 to meet him, that he might greet him.
16:20 And Samuel said, "What have you done?"
16:24 Saul said, "When I saw that the people were scattered
16:27 from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed,
16:31 and that the Philistines gathered together at Michmash,
16:35 "then I said, The Philistines will now come down on me
16:39 at Gilgal, and I have not made the supplication to the Lord."
16:44 "Therefore, I felt compelled and offered a burnt offering."
16:48 Hmm, so Saul made the offering because he was impatient.
16:52 Was he supposed to do the offering? No.
16:54 No. Samuel, the priest was supposed to.
16:57 But Saul told Samuel that because the army had
16:59 deserted him, he felt he had to offer the sacrifice
17:02 to try and bring his men together.
17:04 Saul, instead, should have been encouraging his men
17:08 during those seven days and leading them to seek their
17:11 hearts in repentance to God, preparing them
17:13 for the arrival of Samuel.
17:15 Let's see what Samuel says to Saul.
17:17 Caleb, can you please read 1 Samuel 13:13-14...
17:22 "And Samuel said to Saul, "You have done foolishly,
17:26 you have not kept the commandment of the Lord
17:29 your God which He commanded you.
17:31 For now the Lord would have established your
17:34 kingdom over Israel forever.
17:36 But now your kingdom shall not continue.
17:39 The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart,
17:46 and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people
17:51 because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you."
17:55 Hmm, thanks Caleb.
17:56 So Samuel is prophesying that because of what Saul did,
17:59 another king is going to take his place.
18:02 Saul did not want to repent of his sin,
18:04 but just offered excuses to Samuel.
18:07 Because of Saul's sin and unrepentant heart,
18:10 God was going to use someone else to have
18:13 the honor of defeating the Philistines.
18:15 J. J., let's see who that is.
18:17 Can you read 1 Samuel 14:6-7...
18:20 "Then Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor,
18:25 "Come, let us go over to the garrison of these
18:29 uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us.
18:34 for nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.
18:42 So his armor bearer said to him, "Do all that is in
18:47 your heart. Go then; here I am with you,
18:50 according to your heart." Thanks J. J.
18:53 So Jonathan was a great man of faith and he was
18:56 Saul's son, and he was moved by the Holy Spirit.
18:59 He believed that God could deliver them.
19:02 Chapter 14:1 tells us that Jonathan left the Israelite
19:05 encampment without his father knowing.
19:08 So Jonathan and his servant were successful!
19:10 We are told that the earth quaking was angels from heaven
19:14 fighting for them.
19:15 Meanwhile, a watchman comes up
19:17 to Saul in the Israelite encampment and tells them
19:20 there is something strange happening over in the
19:22 Philistine encampment.
19:24 So in the confusion of Jonathan and his servant attacking
19:27 the garrison of the Philistines, they started
19:29 attacking one another.
19:31 Do you know what? God can cause the enemy
19:33 to destroy itself, we don't need to fear.
19:35 Bethany, can you please read 1 Samuel 15:1-3.
19:40 "Samuel also said to Saul, "The Lord sent me to anoint
19:44 you king over His people, over Israel.
19:47 Now therefore, heed the voice of the words of the Lord.
19:50 "Thus says the Lord of hosts: "I will punish Amalek for what
19:54 he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way
19:59 when he came up from Egypt.
20:01 Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all
20:04 that they have and do not spare them.
20:07 But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child,
20:10 ox and sheep, camel and donkey."
20:13 Hmm, what a command.
20:14 You know, God was giving Saul one more
20:17 chance of being faithful and obedient.
20:20 Four hundred years before, when the children of Israel
20:23 had left Egypt, the Amalekites had attacked the Israelites.
20:27 These people were a fierce, warlike tribe and they had
20:30 committed terrible idolatry.
20:33 God had given them 400 years to repent and turn from
20:37 their sin, but they hadn't and God had been very
20:40 longsuffering with them.
20:42 So Saul assembled his army and off he went.
20:44 Kate, can you please read 1 Samuel 15:5-7.
20:49 "And Saul came down to the city of Amalek,
20:52 and lay in wait in the valley.
20:55 Then Saul said to the Kenites, "Go, depart, get down from
20:58 the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them.
21:01 For you showed kindness to all the children of Israel
21:04 when they came up out of Egypt."
21:06 So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
21:10 And Saul attacked the Amalekites,
21:12 from Havilah all the way to Shur, which is east of Egypt."
21:19 Well done Kate, there are some tricky words there isn't it?
21:22 Even Aunty Nat gets caught on those.
21:24 Okay, Caleb can you please read 1 Samuel 15:9.
21:28 "But Saul and the people who spared Agag and the best of the
21:32 sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs and all that was good,
21:37 and were unwilling to utterly destroy them.
21:40 But everything despised and worthless,
21:43 that they utterly destroyed."
21:47 Did Saul do what God had asked him to do? No.
21:50 No, Saul's prideful heart wanted to parade the evil king
21:54 in their victorious return, so Saul could be honored.
21:58 This was a custom of the surrounding nations.
22:01 But all honor was to go to who? God.
22:04 To God. They kept the Amalekites' animals so they
22:08 didn't have to give up their own animals as a sacrifice to God.
22:12 J. J. can you please read 1 Samuel 15:10-11.
22:16 "Now the word of the Lord came to Samuel, saying,
22:19 "I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has
22:23 turned back from following Me, and has not performed
22:28 My commandments."
22:30 And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the Lord
22:35 all night. Thanks J. J.
22:38 So Samuel, you know what, he loved Saul as his own son.
22:42 He had taken him under his wing and tried to teach him
22:46 to obey and love God.
22:48 But God allows us to have free choice because God
22:52 does not force us to love Him.
22:55 Saul had exercised his free choice and had chosen
22:58 not to obey God.
22:59 For this, Samuel was very sad.
23:02 Aunt Cecily, can you please read 1 Samuel 15:13-14.
23:06 "Then Samuel went to Saul, and Saul said to him,
23:10 "Blessed are you of the Lord,
23:12 I have performed the commandment of the Lord."
23:15 But Samuel said, "What then is this bleating of the sheep
23:20 in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?"
23:24 And Saul said, "They have brought them from the
23:28 Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep
23:31 and the oxen, to sacrifice to the Lord your God;
23:34 and the rest we have utterly destroyed."
23:38 Hmm, so Saul had lied to Samuel because he said he had done
23:45 everything that God had asked him to do.
23:46 But what could Samuel hear in the background?
23:48 The lowing of oxen. Yes, he could hear
23:51 the animals, couldn't he?
23:52 Let's have a look at our torch light, Anna,
23:54 and see what that shines on those verses for us.
23:58 "When called to the throne, Saul had a humble opinion
24:02 of his own capabilities and was willing to be instructed.
24:07 Had he remained humble, seeking constantly to be
24:10 guided by divine wisdom, he would have been enabled
24:15 to discharge the duties of his high position with success
24:19 and honor. Thanks Anna.
24:21 So Saul basically got a big head!
24:24 He lost his humbleness before God and he neglected
24:28 to confess his errors and sins before God,
24:30 and he became very prideful.
24:32 Let's have a look at our memory
24:33 verse found in Proverbs 16:18-19.
24:37 And let's read that together.
24:39 "Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit
24:45 before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit
24:50 with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud."
24:56 So boys and girls, we've learned today that
24:58 being prideful and unrepentant only leads to trouble.
25:02 God wants us to totally depend on Him.
25:05 Thank you boys and girls for reading along with us.
25:08 We have a devotional available that goes into more depth
25:11 on what we studied.
25:12 Here's how you can get that.

25:54 We have something special to show you,
25:57 so you make sure you come back next week.
25:59 Aunty Cecily, should we go over
26:01 our memory verse that we learnt today?
26:03 Yes, are you ready children?
26:05 Let's read this together, Proverbs 16:18-19...
26:25 Guess what Aunty Nat?
26:27 Another worship time is almost over!
26:29 Ohh, I can't believe it just zooms by.
26:32 Matthew, what did you learn about the King today?
26:35 That Jesus died on the cross for us,
26:37 so that we could live forever in heaven with Him.
26:40 Oh yes, Jesus did an amazing thing for us.
26:45 He loves us so much, He wants us back
26:48 in heaven with Him.
26:49 Kids, are you ready to sing the blessing song? Yes!
26:52 So turn around and let's do that to the children at home.
27:01 May God bless you and keep you,
27:05 and fill your heart with love.
27:11 May God guide and protect you,
27:15 and watch you from above.
27:21 As Sabbath after Sabbath,
27:26 we greet the day of rest.
27:31 The day the King of Glory
27:36 has sanctified and blessed.
27:41 Goodbye my friend, till we meet again,
27:46 for another day with the King.
27:53 Goodbye! See you next Sabbath!
28:05 I can't wait to get to heaven
28:07 because I can be there with Jesus.
28:14 I can't wait to get to heaven
28:16 so I can see God's wonderful nature.
28:23 I'm looking forward to going to heaven
28:26 because there I can play with the animals.
