00:02 Hello there! Happy Sabbath!
00:03 Come on in, we're about to meet with the King! 00:51 Hello everyone! Hello Aunty Net! 00:53 Hi Aunty Cecily! Isn't it great to be back 00:56 here for another worship time with the children? 00:58 Yes, it is and we have some children 01:00 to say hello to at home. 01:02 Would you like to tell us who they are? 01:04 Yeah sure, I would like to say a BIG Hello 01:07 to Nathaniel and Austin in England. HELLO! 01:12 Boys and girls, if you join us 01:14 in our worship time each week, drop us a line 01:17 and tell us where you're watching from. 01:19 You can contact us at the address on the screen. 01:22 We'd love to hear from you. 01:24 Now we can't forget to say hello to Teddy, 01:27 and Teddy has his friend, Lilly, with him today. 01:29 Welcome Teddy and Lilly. 01:31 Chemiah, can you please say a prayer for us 01:34 to welcome in our worship time. 01:38 Dear Father... Thank You for looking after us this past week. 01:44 Thank You for blessing us with so many things. 01:47 We love You, Lord. In Jesus name... Amen, Amen! 01:52 Thanks Chemiah, it was a beautiful prayer. 01:54 Aunty Cecily, do you have another key 01:56 to the Kingdom to share with us today? 01:58 Yes, I do and I'm going to get Amber to open our gift box. 02:07 Repent - Acts 2:37-38. Thanks Amber. 02:13 Bryce, would you like to read us the passage from the Bible? 02:16 "Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, 02:19 and said to Peter, and the rest of the apostles; 02:22 "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" 02:25 Then Peter said to them, "Repent 02:27 and let everyone of you be baptized 02:30 in the name of Jesus Christ for the remissions 02:33 of sin, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." 02:38 Thanks Bryce! 02:39 So God wants us to repent. 02:42 To repent means to be truly sorry for what we've done wrong, 02:47 and to say that we're sorry. 02:49 To say, "sorry" and truly mean it - is a gift from God. 02:53 God gives each of us a conscience - that's the ability 02:57 to know right from wrong. 02:59 The Holy Spirit speaks to us and tells us what is right 03:03 and prompts us to repent. 03:06 So if you've done something wrong and you're 03:09 feeling bad about it, God hasn't left you. 03:12 Your pricked conscience is a sign that God is 03:15 very close to you and that He's speaking to your heart. 03:19 He loves you and He'll help you to repent and 03:21 do the right thing, then you'll feel relieved and happy again. 03:26 After we repent, there are some other things that 03:29 God wants us to do if we've never repented before. 03:33 Acts 3:19 says... "Repent therefore, and be converted 03:38 that your sins may be blotted out." 03:41 So God wants us to repent and be converted.. 03:45 which means to change our ways. 03:48 Bryce, if somebody hit you deliberately and they said 03:51 "sorry," and then they hit you again 10 minutes later, 03:54 would you believe that they were really sorry? No. 03:58 No... so what would you expect them to do? 04:01 To not hit me again? 04:03 That's right! 04:04 When we truly repent, we'll have a changed attitude, 04:08 and behavior. 04:10 Later in our Bible study, we'll learn how truly 04:13 repentant King David was after he committed a terrible sin. 04:17 When David repented, he asked God, in Psalm 51:10, 04:23 to create a new heart in him and to 04:26 restore a right spirit in him. 04:29 So as we spend time with the King this Sabbath, 04:31 let's ask God to give us the gift of a repentant heart 04:36 so that we'll feel sorry enough 04:37 to turn away from our sins and follow Jesus. Amen! 04:42 Thank you Aunty Cecily for sharing that with us. 04:44 God wants us to be humble and truly sorry 04:47 when we do the wrong thing. 04:49 It's really something we need to think about. 04:51 I can see that Braedan is here 04:54 to help us with our the worship time. 04:56 Thank you Braedan for joining with us. Thanks Aunty Net. 04:58 Hi Boys and girls, let's sing "God is My Best Friend." 06:06 Braedan, can we sing, "I'm So Happy?" 06:09 We certainly can. 06:46 Braedan, can we please sing, "God is So Good?" 06:48 God is very good, let's sing it together. 07:27 Thanks Braedan! Praising God in song is such 07:29 an enjoyable part of our worship! 07:31 And now it's story time again with Dr. John. 07:34 I wonder what he has for us this time! 07:38 Hi boys and girls! It is so nice to see you again. 07:41 And I want to say hello to the boys and girls 07:44 who might be watching from Sweden because 07:48 this story apparently originated from there. 07:52 And I'm not sure of the names, so we'll just have to 07:55 think of a couple of names, but it starts with a man 08:00 called "Harry," well let's put it correctly, "Pastor Harry." 08:05 He was a bachelor! 08:06 Do you know what a bachelor is? 08:08 Someone who is not married! 08:13 He was very lonely, so he thought "I will do something 08:19 about this." 08:20 He went down to the pet shop, he looked at all the pets. 08:24 What would you buy in a pet shop? 08:28 A dog! A dog... "Ruff, ruff, ruff!" 08:31 Boy, that would make too much noise! 08:33 He saw the parrots, "Waack, waack!" Too noisy. 08:37 What would you buy? A cat! 08:40 A cat and that's what he did. 08:43 He bought a beautiful, little kitten. 08:45 And on the way home, he was thinking to himself... 08:48 "I must give this little cat a name that nobody has ever 08:53 thought of!" 08:54 He thought, he said, "I'm going to call you "Kitty," 09:00 but he loved Kitty. 09:02 Every morning he would give her something 09:04 to drink and feed her. 09:05 And she had a wonderful little motor... "Prrr, prrr." 09:10 And she loved Harry but one morning, he got up... 09:14 There was no Kitty! Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty! 09:18 He looked in the laundry; looked under the bed; 09:22 he looked out the back door, here Kitty, Kitty! 09:26 And then he heard the saddest sound he's ever heard... 09:29 "Meow, meow." 09:31 The kitty was up the tree out the front. 09:35 Not just at the top... at the very, very top. 09:38 Kitties haven't got very good reverse 09:40 gears for getting down trees. 09:43 So he started to climb the tree and the tree went... eeehh, 09:47 "Oooh, I'm going to break the tree." 09:49 And then he had his bright idea. 09:51 He got his car and some rope, tied it up around the tree, 09:55 and he thought, "I'll just drive it a little bit, 09:57 and it will bend the tree over, and then I can pick up Kitty." 10:01 So he tied the rope and he drove it a little bit and the 10:04 tree went... eeehh, and it went eeou, and then the most 10:11 terrible thing happened. 10:13 The rope broke! 10:17 And the tree went... Pe-ugh! 10:20 And Kitty... "Fweeeeeeeeeuuu" and disappeared. 10:27 Oh, he was so upset. 10:29 He looked everywhere and he couldn't, couldn't 10:32 find her anywhere. 10:33 He looked for days and then one day, 10:37 he went to the supermarket and there was Mrs. Brown 10:41 pushing on her... and she had cat food in her trolley. 10:44 Well, that made him so sad. 10:46 He said, "How are you Mrs. Brown?" 10:48 "I'm fine." Now she had a daughter... you come over here. 10:52 And Hannah will be the little girl, and Hannah, you like 10:57 kitty cats? I'm really glad you do. 11:00 And she said, "The strangest thing has happened to me 11:03 because Hannah has been asking for a cat and this is what 11:07 she would say... "Mommy, mommy, mommy, 11:09 can I have a pussycat?" 11:10 "Mommy, mommy, mommy, can I have a pussycat?" 11:13 "No, you're too young!" 11:15 "Mommy, mommy, mommy, can I please have a pussycat?" 11:20 "Mommy, mommy, mommy, can I please have a kitty cat?" 11:23 "I don't think you know how to look after kitty cats." 11:26 "But I will mommy, yes, yes, yes." 11:28 "I will mommy, yes, yes." 11:35 Now, then Hannah got really clever, she said, 11:40 "If I ask Jesus and He gives me a pussy cat, can I have one?" 11:46 "If I ask Jesus, can I have one?" "Oh yes." 11:51 So she went outside, she shut her eyes and said, 11:54 "Please Jesus, give me a pussy cat." 11:59 And you know what? 12:00 Flying through the air was a pussy cat, 12:04 it landed at her feet and she ran inside and said, 12:07 "Mommy, mommy, mommy, Jesus sent me a pussy cat." 12:14 Boys and girls, I think that Jesus has a great 12:18 sense of humor and He has strange ways of 12:21 answering prayer. 12:23 And you know, Pastor Harry was so happy and he and 12:27 Hannah agreed that they would share the pussy cat. 12:30 The pussy cat seeing it lived just almost next door, 12:34 and they all lived very happily and Jesus 12:37 must have smiled in heaven! 12:39 Have you got a smile for Jesus? 12:41 Thank you boys and girls! 12:44 Hello, welcome back, it's time for our Bible study. 12:47 I hope you have your Bibles ready 12:48 so you can follow along with us. 12:50 Bethany, can you please say a prayer for us 12:52 before we open up our Bibles? 12:54 Dear Father... Thank You for our Bibles and help us 12:57 to understand what we read today. 12:59 We ask Your blessing on the children and families 13:01 that are watching us at home. 13:03 May Your word warm their hearts. 13:05 In Jesus name... Amen, Amen! Thank you Bethany. 13:08 Now Sophie, do you remember what we studied about last week? 13:11 David took the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem. 13:14 Yes he did and did he move it the right way 13:16 the first time? No. 13:17 No, but he did eventually move it the right way, didn't he? 13:20 And it all turned out well. 13:22 Well today, we're going to look at some events 13:26 that happened during King David's reign - that had a 13:29 big impact on his family. 13:31 Let's make a start - we're going to start in 13:33 1 Chronicles 17. 13:36 Abigail, can you please read 1 Chronicles 17:1-2? 13:41 "Now it came to pass, when David was dwelling in his house 13:44 that David said to Nathan, the prophet, 13:46 "See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, 13:48 but the ark of the covenant 13:50 of the Lord is under tent curtains." 13:52 Then Nathan said to David, "Do all that is in your heart, 13:55 for God is with you." Thanks Abigail. 13:58 David spoke to the prophet Nathan and told him 14:02 that he would like to build a house 14:04 for the ark of the covenant. 14:06 Nathan agreed and told him to do what was in his heart. 14:10 But God had other ideas... let's look at that Caleb. 14:13 Can you please read 1 Chronicles 17:3-4? 14:17 "But it happened that night that the word of God 14:20 came to Nathan, saying... 14:22 "Go and tell my servant David, "Thus saith the Lord, 14:25 You shall not build me a house to dwell in." 14:28 Thanks Caleb! 14:29 God did not want David to build 14:31 the temple for the ark of the covenant. 14:33 If we were to continue to read on, the Bible tells us 14:36 that God wanted one of David's sons to build the temple. 14:39 Do you think David may have been a bit disappointed? Yes. 14:43 Yeah, I think he may have, but let's read 14:46 what David's response is. 14:47 Let's go back over to 2 Samuel and we're going 14:51 to go to 2 Samuel 7:25. 14:55 Can you please read that for us Bethany? Yes. 14:58 "Now, O Lord God, the word which You have spoken 15:01 concerning Your servant and concerning his house, 15:04 establish it forever and do as You have said." 15:06 So David surrendered his cherished hopes of building 15:09 the temple and accepted God's decision. 15:12 Now David became great because of the battles he had won 15:16 against the Philistines, the Moabites and the Ammonites, 15:20 but when you become great and you're on a high, 15:24 there is also risk of a great fall. 15:27 And we're going to read about that. 15:29 Sophie, can you please read 2 Samuel 11:1-2. 15:33 "It happened in the spring of the year, at the time 15:38 when kings go out to battle that David sent Joab 15:42 and his servants with him, and all Israel; 15:44 and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. 15:48 But David remained at Jerusalem. 15:51 Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed 15:55 and walked on the roof of the king's house. 15:57 And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, 15:59 and the woman was very beautiful to behold." 16:02 Oh dear, it looks like a temptation had come David's way. 16:07 We read in verse 1 that David should have been out in battle 16:10 with his men, but he had sent his commander Joab out instead. 16:15 And because of this, David was idle and he had 16:18 lots of time on his hands. 16:20 When David saw Bathsheba, he should have walked away. 16:24 Let's see what he does... 16:25 Matthew, can you read 2 Samuel 11:3-5? 16:30 "So David sent and inquired about the woman. 16:33 And someone said, "Is this not Bathsheba, 16:35 the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?" 16:40 Then David sent messengers, and took her; 16:45 and she came to him and he lay with her for she 16:50 was cleansed from her impurity; 16:52 and she returned to her house. 16:55 And the woman conceived; so she sent and told David, 17:00 and she said, "I am with child." 17:03 Ohh, did David walk away from the temptation? No. 17:07 No, he didn't - did he ask God to help him? No, he didn't. 17:12 Verse 3 told us that Bathsheba was already married to Uriah. 17:16 How many wives did David already have? 17:18 Can you remember? Seven - it was seven wives. 17:22 Did he really need another wife? No, he didn't 17:25 So the Bible tells us that David called Uriah 17:29 home from the battlefield to go home to his wife, 17:32 so David could cover up his sin. 17:34 But you know what? Uriah was too loyal to his 17:36 job and refused to go home to his wife, 17:41 but he stayed in the king's palace. 17:44 Mia, can you read 2 Samuel 11:14-15? 17:46 "In the morning it happened that David wrote a letter 17:50 to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. 17:54 And he wrote in the letter saying, "Set Uriah 17:58 in the forefront of the hottest battle, 18:01 and retreat from him, that he may be struck down and die." 18:07 Do you know that Uriah was a very loyal, hardworking soldier, 18:13 and yet here David was plotting his death to cover up his sin. 18:17 Well, Joab did what the letter said and Uriah died in battle. 18:23 Aunty Cecily, can you please read 2 Samuel 11:26-27? 18:28 "When the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah, her husband 18:32 was dead, she mourned for her husband and when her 18:36 mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house 18:41 and she became his wife and bore him a son. 18:45 But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord." 18:49 So was God happy? No. He wasn't happy. 18:52 Do you know what, up to this point, 18:54 David had remained loyal to God despite everything 18:57 he had gone through. 18:59 He made some mistakes but this time, he deliberately 19:02 sinned and went to great lengths to cover it up. 19:06 Abigail, can you please read 2 Samuel 12:1-3. 19:10 "Then the Lord sent Nathan to David and he came to him 19:14 and said, "There were two men in one city; 19:17 one rich and the other poor. 19:19 The rich man had exceedingly many flocks and herds. 19:21 But the poor man had nothing, except one little ewe lamb 19:25 which he had bought and nourished; 19:29 and it grew up together with him and his children; 19:32 it ate of his own food and drank from his own cup 19:35 and lay in his bosom; and it was like a daughter to him." 19:39 Okay Caleb, can you please read verses 4-7? 19:42 "And a traveler came to the rich man, who refused to take 19:47 from his own flock and from his own herd to prepare 19:52 one for the wayfaring man who had come to him; 19:56 but he took the poor man's lamb and prepared it 19:58 for the man who had come to him. 20:00 So David's anger was greatly aroused against the man, 20:04 and he said to Nathan, "As the Lord lives, the man who has 20:08 done this shall surely die! 20:09 And he shall restore fourfold for the lamb, 20:14 because he did this thing, and because he had no pity. 20:18 Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man! 20:21 Thus says the Lord God of Israel, 20:24 I anointed you to king over Israel, and I delivered you 20:28 from the hand of Saul." Thanks Caleb. 20:31 Notice in verse 6 where David says, "And he shall restore 20:35 fourfold for the lamb," I want you to 20:37 keep that in the back of your mind as it's here that David 20:41 pronounces his own punishment, 20:43 and we'll talk about that a little later on. 20:45 Okay, Bethany, can you please read 2 Samuel 12:13-14? 20:51 "So David said to Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord." 20:55 And Nathan said to David, "The Lord also has put away 20:58 your sin, you shall not die. 21:00 However, because by this deed you have given 21:03 great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to 21:06 blaspheme, the child also who is born to you 21:09 shall surely die." 21:11 So David didn't make any excuses but he confessed 21:15 before Nathan that he had sinned against God. 21:19 David humbled himself before God and repented. 21:22 Verse 14 sadly tells us because of David's sin, 21:26 his child to Bathsheba would die and verse 18 tells us 21:31 that is what happened. 21:32 Let's go to Psalm 51 and let's read our memory verse together. 21:37 We're going to read our memory verse 51:1-2 and 7. 21:42 Have you got that? Okay, let's read it. 22:12 So David wrote this Psalm when he was going through this 22:15 particular experience and this is a wonderful 22:17 promise for us as well. 22:19 That if we can confess our sins before God, 22:22 that He will forgive us and wash us as white as snow. 22:26 Let's have a look at our torch light, Mrs. White's writings, 22:30 to see what they shine on these verses we have just read. 22:34 Matthew, can you read that for us please? 22:38 "Whoever under the reproof of God will humble 22:41 the soul with confession and repentance, as did David, 22:45 may be sure that there is hope for him. 22:48 Whoever will, in faith, accept God's promises will find pardon. 22:53 The Lord will never cast away one truly 22:56 repented soul." Thanks Matthew. 22:58 So that confirms what we have just read and is another 23:01 wonderful promise of what God can do for us. 23:04 Thank you boys and girls for reading along with us. 23:06 We have a devotional available that goes into 23:09 more depth on what we have studied today. 23:11 Here is how you can get that. 23:14 Hey boys and girls, as Aunty Net said, you can get 23:16 your own devotionals. 23:17 Yes, you can download them free from our website at: 23:19 adaywiththeking.com 23:21 and, Anna, we can't forget to tell the kids 23:23 to check out Teddy's blog. 23:24 We have some behind the scenes photos of filming the program. 23:27 Yes, and we also have some photos of Teddy going on his 23:31 annual visit to the vet. 23:32 We love to hear where in the world 23:33 you're watching the program from, 23:35 so drop us a line and let us know. 23:36 Get a pen and write down our email address now: 23:40 dwk@3abnaustralia.org.au 23:44 So hop online today! 23:46 Thanks Kate and Anna! 23:48 Remember, boys and girls, to read your Bibles 23:50 every day so Jesus will become your best friend! 23:54 Aunty Net, can you tell us what we're going 23:56 to study about next week? 23:57 Yes, next Sabbath we are going to study about the lives of 24:01 King David's children and an angel with a very 24:04 big sword - a story well worth looking at. 24:08 Aunty Cecily, shall we go over our memory verse 24:10 that we learned in our Bible study today. 24:12 Yes, are you ready to do that together children? 24:46 Well kids, we've come to the end 24:49 of another Sabbath worship time. 24:51 Bryce, what did you learn about the King today? 24:54 I learned that you can ask Jesus for forgiveness. 24:56 Yes, we sure can! 24:58 If we are truly sorry for our wrong, Jesus is 25:01 always willing to forgive us. 25:03 Auntie Cecily, is it time to sing our goodbye song now? 25:06 I think it is, children would you like to turn around 25:09 and we'll sing to the boys and girls at home. 25:19 May God bless you and keep you, 25:24 And fill your heart with love. 25:29 May God guide and protect you, 25:34 and watch you from above. 25:39 And Sabbath after Sabbath, 25:44 we greet the Day of rest, 25:50 the Day the King of glory 25:55 has sanctified and blessed. 26:00 Goodbye my friend, till we meet again 26:05 for another day with the King. 26:10 Goodbye! See you next Sabbath! 26:21 My favorite story in the Bible is Noah's ark 26:24 because he obeyed God 26:26 and all the animals were saved in the ark. 26:30 My favorite story in the Bible is about the 12 spies, 26:33 and how Caleb and Joshua stood up in front of everybody. 26:40 My favorite story in the Bible is Mary and Joseph 26:43 and Baby Jesus because He is the Savior of the world. |
