00:01 Hello there! Happy Sabbath!
00:03 Come on in, we're about to meet with the King! 00:51 Good day, I'm Aunty Nat, and I'm Aunty Cecily. 00:53 We are so glad you've decided to join us 00:55 in our worship time with the King. 00:57 How are you today kids? Good! 01:00 Auntie Cecily, do we have someone to say "hello" to 01:03 who has been watching our program? 01:04 Yes, I'd like to say "hello" to Alison from New Castle, 01:09 and Chrystal from Cooranbong, New South Wales. 01:13 Hello! Hello! Hello! Hi! 01:16 It's lovely, we have so many children joining us 01:19 every week for our worship. 01:21 Now we can't forget to say "hello" to Teddy. 01:23 Hello Teddy! Our worship times wouldn't 01:26 be the same without you. 01:27 Jeremiah, can you please say a prayer for us 01:30 before we commence our worship time? Yes. 01:32 Dearest Heavenly Father... Thank You for bringing us 01:37 all back safely through another week. 01:40 Thank You for this Sabbath so that we can rest. 01:44 Thank You for the children who are joining in our worship time. 01:49 Please bless them today. In Jesus name... Amen, Amen! 01:54 Thanks Jeremiah. 01:56 Aunty Cecily, do you have another key to the Kingdom 01:58 to share with us this week? 01:59 Yes I do... Matthew, can you open our gift box 02:03 and find out another gift that God wants to give us 02:06 to help us to get to the Kingdom? 02:10 Faith. And what's the text on the 02:12 other side of the tag? 02:14 Psalm 34:8. Thanks Matthew. 02:18 Erin, could you please read that verse from the Bible for us? 02:21 "O taste and see that the Lord is good. 02:25 Blessed is the man who trusts in Him." Thank you Erin. 02:29 Faith is important! 02:31 To have faith in God means to trust God, 02:34 and to believe what He says. 02:36 In Hebrews 11, which is known as the "faith" chapter 02:40 in the Bible, we discover that faith is believing God 02:44 and doing the things that He asks us to do. 02:47 Hebrews 11:1 says... "Now faith is the substance of things 02:52 hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." 02:55 Many wonderful things were done through faith 02:58 by people listed in this chapter including Noah, 03:01 Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Rahab and others 03:05 we've studied about. 03:07 Later, we're going to see how Solomon trusted 03:10 and obeyed God in every detail, and as a result, 03:14 built the most magnificent temple that the world 03:17 has ever seen. 03:19 If we have faith, we too can do 03:21 many wonderful things for God. 03:23 Hebrews 11:6 tells us that we cannot please God 03:27 unless we do have faith. 03:30 So our faith key is a very important key. 03:34 Through all the studies we've done in the Bible so far, 03:37 there is more than enough evidence for us to have 03:40 faith and trust in God. 03:42 But one of my favorite evidences comes from 03:44 having a personal experience with God in which I 03:48 can taste and see how good 03:50 God is - as Psalm 34:8 said. 03:55 You don't have to rely on someone else's faith, 03:58 you can have your own faith in God. 04:01 So as we spend time with the King this Sabbath, 04:04 let's ask God to give us the gift of faith. 04:08 Thanks Aunty Cecily for sharing that with us. 04:10 Hebrews 11 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. 04:14 I can see it's time now for our praise time 04:18 because I can see that Braedan is here with us. 04:20 Thank you, Braedan, for joining. 04:22 It's good to be here. Hi boys and girls! 04:24 Let's sing the song, "The Seventh 04:26 is the Sabbath of the Lord." 05:04 Braedan, can we please sing, "We're a Band 05:07 "of Happy Children?" We certainly can. 06:04 Braedan, can we please sing, "Wonderful, Wonderful?" 06:08 I love that song, let's sing it together. 06:52 Thanks Braedan, I really enjoyed our songs today! 06:56 Now it's time to see what Dr. John 06:58 has been doing in his study. 07:00 Let's go and visit him! 07:01 Hello boys and girls, it's wonderful to be with you today. 07:05 And I'm also saying "hello" to thousands and thousands 07:10 and maybe millions of boys and girls all around the world. 07:13 I'm so glad that you can be with us. 07:15 Now... do you like going on holidays? Yes! 07:18 Who would like to go on an overseas holiday 07:20 and get in a jet and fly for hours to some 07:23 mystery destination? It would be pretty good. 07:26 A little girl called, "Tillie," lived in England, 07:30 and it was cold - it was winter, and she would have loved a 07:34 holiday and one day, her father came in and said, 07:39 "Tillie, would you like to go on a holiday in a nice warm 07:43 place on the other side of the world?" 07:46 Oh yes, she wanted to go! 07:48 And they got on the plane and they flew for about 07:52 15 hours and landed in Thailand. 07:58 And they were at a beach, 08:00 and she was having a wonderful time sitting on the 08:04 beach, swimming and because she was from England, 08:07 I think she might have got a little bit sunburned. 08:09 But she was sitting on the beach and she was looking 08:13 out at the water - everything was nice, then she saw 08:17 something strange. 08:18 She saw fish flopping around on the sand. 08:22 She thought, "That's unusual." 08:24 And then she suddenly saw that the water was going out, 08:30 and where she had been swimming was now dry land. 08:34 And she suddenly thought of what her geography teacher, 08:39 Mr. Kenny, had said two weeks before. 08:43 He said, when the water goes out, and the sand starts 08:47 to fizz and bubble and you see fish flopping around, 08:51 get out and run because it means a "tsunami." 08:58 A "tsunami" is a tidal wave and it can 09:02 just wipe everything out. 09:03 And what had happened thousands of miles away, 09:07 a great big earthquake under the sea had just "boom" 09:11 like that and the waves were coming and Tillie 09:16 was sitting there and she thought, "I'd better 09:18 get off the beach!" 09:20 And she looked up and down the beach... 09:22 there were 300 people on the beach. 09:24 Then she thought, "I can run away but shall I warn them?" 09:29 "No, because people will call me the name I hate 09:33 more than anything else." 09:35 If your name was "Tillie," you wouldn't 09:38 want to be called, "Silly Tillie." 09:41 "Or maybe I should." "Maybe I shouldn't." 09:45 And all of a sudden, she jumped up and she ran down the beach. 09:50 "RUN, RUN, tsunami is coming!" 09:53 And her daddy said, "Tillie..." 09:55 I hope he didn't say, "Silly Tillie." 09:59 "What are you doing?" 10:01 "There's a tsunami coming, there's a tsunami... " 10:03 "Oh Tillie!" Mr. Kenny told me, in school!" 10:07 "Look... the water is going out, the sand is bubbling, 10:10 the fish are flopping!" 10:12 Then daddy said, "Oh, I think you're right!" 10:16 He went one way, she went the other at the beach. 10:19 "Run, run, run! Get off the beach!" 10:21 "A tsunami is coming!" 10:23 Tsunami came all right. 10:25 It was the worse tsunami that we have 10:28 known in many, many years and I've got a picture of it. 10:32 That was really, really bad. 10:35 You know, these people here probably died 10:39 in the next few seconds. 10:41 This was where Tillie was having a holiday. 10:45 So it was the beach next door. 10:47 And she ran up the beach and these people got out, 10:51 and not one person on that beach died that day 10:55 because of what she did. 10:57 I've got a picture of Tillie, just an ordinary little girl! 11:03 But she had great courage; she knew, even though she was 11:10 scared, even though she was little, that she had to 11:14 do the right thing and one of the rarest things 11:20 we see in the world today is people with courage, 11:24 particularly boys and girls who feel that, 11:26 "I'm too little and too small." 11:29 And this girl became well-famous, she is still 11:33 very humble. 11:34 She's grown up now, she's over 20 years old. 11:37 But is a girl who had the courage to get up 11:42 and no matter who people might think, 11:45 she was prepared to do the brave thing 11:49 even though people thought she was silly. 11:53 God wants people 11:55 with courage and I pray that for you today. 11:59 Thank you boys and girls. 12:01 Hello, welcome back! It's time for our Bible study. 12:04 I hope you have your Bibles 12:05 ready so you can follow along with us. 12:07 Auntie Cecily, can you please say a prayer 12:09 for us before we commence our study. 12:11 Dear Heavenly Father... We just pray a special 12:13 blessing on all the children, especially those who are 12:16 joining us in our Bible study and just pray for Your 12:20 Holy Spirit that You would help us to understand 12:22 and to love and to follow the things 12:25 that we learn lessons from. 12:27 We pray in Jesus name... Amen! 12:30 Now do you remember, Erin, 12:31 what we learned about last Sabbath? 12:32 Solomon asked God for wisdom. 12:35 He certainly did and did God answer his prayer? 12:37 Yes! Yes he did. 12:38 Today we're going to be flipping between 1 Kings and 2 Chronicles 12:42 as the story today is recorded in both books. 12:46 We're going to start in 2 Chronicles. 12:48 Erin, can you please read 2 Chronicles 2:1-3. 12:52 "Then Solomon determined to build a temple 12:55 for the name of the Lord, and a royal house for himself. 12:58 Solomon selected 70,000 men to bear burdens, 13:02 80,000 to quarry stone in the mountains and 30,600 13:07 to oversee them. 13:08 Then Solomon sent Hiram, king of Tyre, saying: 13:12 As you have dealt with David my father, and sent him 13:16 cedars to build himself a house to dwell in, so deal with me. 13:22 Thanks Erin. 13:24 So King Hiram lived up here in Phoenicia a place called "Tyre." 13:28 Can you point that out Aunty Cecily? Thank you! 13:30 King Hiram and David had formed an alliance many years before 13:34 as Hiram had sent David materials to build his palace. 13:38 So here we are, we have Solomon now asking King Hiram 13:43 to deal kindly with him. 13:44 Let's see what King Hiram's response was. 13:47 Caleb, can you read 2 Chronicles 2:12-13. 13:51 Hiram also said, "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel 13:56 who made heaven and earth, for he has given King David 13:59 a wise son endowed with prudence and understanding 14:05 who will build a temple for the Lord 14:06 and a royal house for himself! 14:09 And now I have sent a skillful man endowed with understanding, 14:14 Huram my master craftsman." 14:16 Hmm, it's going to be tricky with these names, isn't it? 14:19 King Hiram sent his master craftsman named Huram to Solomon 14:25 and he also assured him that 14:26 they would supply him with all the timber he would need, 14:30 the most famous of these being the cedars of Lebanon 14:34 which were well known for their fine strong wood 14:38 and wonderful scent. 14:39 Let's go back to our map. 14:41 Aunty Cecily, can you show us, please, because verse 16 14:44 tells us that we're going to float the timber on rafts 14:46 down the coast from Tyre to Joppa which is about 14:49 136 kilometers and they now we're going to transport 14:52 the timber by land to Jerusalem 14:54 which was about another 56 kilometers. 14:57 Bethany, can you please read 1 Kings 6:2 please? Yes. 15:04 "Now the house which King Solomon built for the Lord, 15:07 its length was 60 cubits, its with width 20, 15:10 and its height 30 cubits." 15:12 Okay, so let's look at our model here. 15:16 We have a model of Solomon's temple or another 15:19 name for it was "the first temple." 15:22 Now, we looked at our measurement of a cubit 15:25 back in our study when we studied the sanctuary 15:27 that Moses built. 15:29 A cubit is about 18 inches and when you convert 15:32 inches to meters, the temple was about 27 meters long. 15:36 It was about 9 meters wide and it was about 13 meters high. 15:43 So the temple wasn't really a huge building, 15:46 but as we read on, we'll find out that it 15:48 was pretty spectacular. 15:51 Around the three sides of the temple were three levels of 15:54 rooms or chambers which were used for storing the temple's 15:58 treasures and for the use of the priests. 16:01 Okay, let's see what the temple was made from. 16:04 Abigail, can you please read 1 Kings 6:7. 16:09 "And the temple, when it was being built, was built with 16:13 stone finished at the quarry, so that no hammer or chisel 16:18 or any iron tool was heard in 16:21 the temple while it was being built. Thanks Abby. 16:25 So the main framework for the temple was stone 16:28 which was all prepared at the quarries. 16:30 So there was no noise made at the temple site. 16:33 everything was done with precision, so when those stones 16:37 arrived at the worksite, they fitted together perfectly. 16:42 Matthew, can you please read 1 Kings 6:15-16. 16:48 "And he built the inside walls from the temple 16:50 with cedar boards from the floor of the temple to the ceiling. 16:55 He paneled the inside with wood and he covered the floor 16:59 of the temple with planks of cypress. 17:02 Then he built the 20 cubit room at the rear of the temple 17:07 from floor to ceiling with cedar boards; 17:10 he built it inside as the inner 17:13 sanctuary as the Most Holy Place." Thanks Matthew. 17:17 So all the walls and ceilings were lined with cedar 17:20 and the floors with cypress. 17:22 Also a room that was 20 cubits square 17:25 or 9 meters square in our measurement, was built at 17:28 the back of the temple which was to be the Most Holy Place. 17:32 Let's see what went over the top of the cedar boards. 17:35 Mia, can you please read 1 Kings 6:21. 17:39 "So Solomon overlaid the inside of the temple with pure gold. 17:45 He stretched gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary 17:50 and overlaid it with gold." 17:52 So the inside of both rooms was overlaid with gold. 17:56 The verse also told us about some gold chains 18:00 that went across in front of The Most Holy Place. 18:03 Auntie Cecily, can you please read 1 Kings 6:23 and 27-28. 18:10 "Inside the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of 18:14 olive wood, each 10 cubits high. 18:18 Then he set the cherubim inside the inner room, 18:21 and they stretched out the wings of the cherubim 18:24 so that the wing of the one touched one wall, 18:27 and the wing of the other cherubim touched the other wall, 18:31 And their wings touched each other in the middle of the room. 18:35 Also he overlaid the cherubim with gold." 18:38 Hmmm, so the two cherubim were made of olive wood 18:41 and were covered with gold and they were massive. 18:44 They were 4.5 meters tall and with their wings outstretched, 18:48 covered the width of the room which was about 9 meters wide. 18:52 The cherubim represented the heavenly angels 18:55 guarding the Law of God as the ark of the covenant 18:58 was going to sit under the cherubim's outstretched wings. 19:02 Erin, can you please read 1 Kings 6:29-30. 19:06 "Then he carved all the walls of the temple all around, 19:10 both the inner and the outer sanctuaries with carved 19:14 figures of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers. 19:17 And the floor of the temple he overlaid with gold, both the 19:22 inner and outer sanctuaries." 19:23 So carved into the walls of the temple were cherubim, 19:27 palm trees and flowers. 19:29 And verse 30 also tells us even the floors were covered in gold. 19:33 Now we have a picture here to show you. 19:35 Aunty Cecily, can you show us and I'll point out 19:38 all the beautiful things that were inside the temple 19:40 because we can't really see inside this model. 19:44 So can you see that? Look at all that gold, hey. 19:47 So here are the palm trees up here and the cherubim; 19:52 okay and the angels carved into the wall. 19:54 You can see the floors and the wall and the ceiling with gold, 19:58 and at the back here is The Most Holy Place. 20:01 And here are the cherubim and you can just see under 20:03 the cherubim's legs, you can see the 20:05 ark of the covenant sitting there. 20:07 Do you think it's pretty beautiful? 20:08 It's gorgeous, isn't it? Thank you Aunty Cecily. 20:12 Now remember last Sabbath, we spoke about all that gold. 20:15 There was 8,000 talents of it. 20:17 Well, you can just see from the picture, that's where 20:20 all that gold went - pretty expensive paint, isn't it? 20:24 Yeah, there's a lot of money worth in that. 20:26 Now, if we were to continue to read, verse 38 tells us 20:30 that it took 7 years to build the temple. 20:34 Caleb, can you please read 1 Kings 8:6 please. 20:40 "Then the priest brought the ark of the covenant 20:43 of the Lord to its place into the inner 20:46 sanctuary of the temple to The Most Holy Place, 20:49 under the wings of the cherubim." 20:51 So the priest brought the ark of the covenant 20:53 from another part of the city where it had been in its 20:55 special tent and placed it in The Most Holy Place 20:58 under the cherubim's wings which I just showed you 21:01 on the picture. 21:02 Let's have a look at our torch light, Mrs. White's writings 21:05 to see what they have to shine on what we've been reading. 21:08 Bethany, can you read that for us please. 21:11 "Of surpassing beauty and unrivaled splendor, 21:14 was the palatial building which Solomon and his associates 21:18 erected for God and His worship. 21:23 Garnished with precious stones surrounded by spacious courts 21:25 with magnificent approaches and lined with carved cedar 21:29 and burnished gold, the temple structure with its broidered 21:34 hangings and rich furnishings was a fit emblem of the 21:38 living church of God on earth." Thanks Bethany. 21:42 So the temple was a beautiful sight to behold. 21:44 Now that everything was completed, Solomon gathered 21:48 all of Israel to the temple for a dedication service. 21:53 Solomon interceded or prayed on behalf of all Israel. 21:57 Let's see what happens next. 21:58 Abigail, can you read 2 Chronicles 7:1-2. 22:07 "When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down 22:09 from heaven and consumed the burnt offering 22:13 and the sacrifices; and the glory 22:16 of the Lord filled the temple. 22:18 And the priests could not enter the house of the Lord 22:22 because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house." 22:25 Wow! So what an awesome event that must have been! 22:28 God accepted Solomon's prayer 22:30 and the offerings and sacrifices. 22:32 He also must have been very happy with the temple 22:35 as His presence filled it immediately which also showed 22:39 that Solomon followed the building plans that 22:42 God inspired his father, David, to write. 22:44 Okay, let's go over to our memory verse in Proverbs 3:5-6, 22:48 and let's read that together, 22:50 and this is a book that Solomon wrote. 23:05 So if we trust in God and His wisdom and acknowledge Him, 23:10 He will guide us in our lives, just like he guided 23:14 Solomon in building the temple. 23:16 Thank you boys and girls for reading along with us. 23:19 We have a devotional available that goes into more depth 23:21 on what we studied today, here's how you can get that. 23:25 Hey boys and girls, as Aunty Nat said, you can 23:27 get your own devotionals. 23:29 Yes, you can download them free from our website at: 23:31 adaywiththeking.com 23:32 And Anna, we can't forget to tell the kids 23:34 to check out Teddy's blog. 23:36 We have some behind the scene photos of filming the programs. 23:39 Yes, and we also have some photos of Teddy going 23:42 on his annual visit to the vet. 23:43 We'd love to hear where in the world you're watching 23:46 the program from, so drop us a line and let us know. 23:48 Get a pen and write down our email address now. 23:51 dwk@3abnaustralia.org.au 23:55 So hop on line today! 23:57 Thanks Kate and Dana. 23:59 Girls and boys, if you have any questions about 24:01 the devotionals, you can contact us at the address on the screen. 24:06 Aunty Nat, can you tell us what we're going to 24:07 study about next week? 24:09 Yes, next Sabbath we are going 24:11 to look at a few different things. 24:13 One is about a queen; the other is lots and lots of gold, 24:16 and what happens when you have too much of it. 24:19 So it's going to be a very interesting study. 24:22 Make sure you come back next week. 24:24 Aunty Cecily, shall we go over the memory verse 24:26 that we looked at in our Bibles study? Yes. 24:28 Let's say it all together children, Proverbs 3:5-6: 24:48 Well children, our worship time is almost over again. 24:51 Erin, what did you learn about the king today? 24:54 That God wants to answer us for more faith 24:57 so we can do great things in Him. 24:59 Yes, He does. 25:00 When we pray and ask God for more faith, 25:03 it's a prayer that God loves to answer. 25:06 Aunty Nat, it's time to sing our 25:08 blessing song to the children, isn't it? Yes it is. 25:11 Children, can you turn around so that the children 25:14 at home can see you? 25:20 May God bless you and keep you, 25:25 and fill your heart with love. 25:30 May God guide and protect you 25:35 and watch you from above. 25:40 As Sabbath after Sabbath, 25:45 we greet the Day of Rest, 25:51 The day the King of Glory 25:56 has sanctified and blessed. 26:01 Goodbye my friends, till we meet again, 26:06 for another Day With the King. 26:12 Goodbye! Goodbye! See you next Sabbath! 26:21 My favorite story in the Bible is about Jesus 26:25 because He loves children. 26:31 My favorite Bible story is David because of how he trusted 26:35 and had lots of faith in God through all the tough times. 26:40 My favorite story is Ruth because she was brave 26:43 to follow Naomi to a foreign town. |
