00:02 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:03 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King. 00:51 Hello, it's wonderful to have you back with us 00:53 to join us in our worship time. 00:55 How are you going, Aunty Nat? 00:57 I'm really good, Aunty Cecily, 00:59 and I'm so happy to be back here again 01:01 with you and the kids. 01:03 Yes, I'm really looking forward to our worship times together. 01:07 Aunty Cecily, can I say hello to someone? 01:09 Yes, who would you like to say hello to? 01:11 William and James. 01:13 Yes. 01:14 Hello, William and James. 01:17 And Lily is visiting us again. 01:18 Lily's a bit of a funny bunny, 01:20 she might try and burrow in behind us 01:22 and just do what bunnies do. 01:23 But we love having here with us. 01:25 Aunty Nat, would you like to say a prayer for us 01:28 before we commence our worship time? 01:30 Sure, I'd love to. 01:32 Dearest Heavenly Father, we thank and praise Your name 01:34 for allowing us to be all here today, 01:37 Lord worshiping You and worshiping You 01:40 on the Sabbath and remembering You 01:41 on the Sabbath. 01:43 We ask, Lord, a special blessing 01:44 on the children at home. 01:46 We ask, Lord, that this message 01:48 and this worship time warms their hearts. 01:51 We thank You and we love You, Lord, 01:53 in Jesus' name, amen. 01:56 Do you remember what number key we're up to this week? 01:59 Number 10. 02:01 Yes, and I'm going to ask Hannah if you'd like 02:04 to open our gift box and tell us what our key 02:07 to the kingdom is today? 02:10 What does it tell us? 02:12 Talk with God. 02:14 Thank you. 02:15 And what's the text on the other side of the tag? 02:18 1 Thessalonians 5:17. 02:22 Thank you, Hannah. 02:24 Bethany, could you read that text for us please. 02:26 Yes, "Pray without ceasing." 02:29 Thanks, Bethany. 02:30 Remember last Sabbath we talked about getting to know Jesus 02:33 through prayer, studying His Word, 02:36 and spending time with human nature. 02:39 Well, today we're going to learn more about talking 02:42 to God in prayer. 02:44 Prayer is very powerful. 02:47 Aunty Nat is going to tell us later about Elisha, 02:50 who prayed often and God answered 02:52 many of his prayers with miracles. 02:55 Now we need to pray to God 02:57 because we cannot have a friendship with someone 02:59 who we never talk to, can we? 03:02 Imagine how long your friendship 03:04 would last with another person if you never talked with them? 03:08 We can talk with God in the same way 03:10 that we can talk to our friend. 03:13 Bethany, when can we pray? 03:16 At any time. 03:17 Yes, that's right. 03:18 We can talk to God any time. 03:21 God never tires of listening to us and about our lives, 03:25 or about our struggles, 03:26 or our request for help to obey Him 03:29 and to serve others. 03:31 Luke 22:40 says, 03:34 "We should pray for help not to give in 03:36 when we attempted to do wrong." 03:39 And 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, 03:42 "God promises to make a way to escape the temptation." 03:46 In Luke Chapter 11, 03:48 God promises to answer all our prayers 03:52 if we ask according to His will, 03:54 and not just for selfish purposes. 03:57 So remember, you can pray to God anytime 04:01 and you can talk to Him about anything. 04:04 So as we spend time with the King this Sabbath, 04:07 let's think about our 10th key to the kingdom. 04:10 Talk to God in prayer. 04:13 Thanks, Aunt Cecily. 04:14 Our key is a good reminder that Jesus is ever ready 04:18 to listen to us and answer our prayers. 04:22 Hello, Braedan, 04:23 it's so wonderful to have you back with us 04:26 to help us praise God in song. 04:28 Thanks, Aunty Nat. 04:29 Hi, boys and girls, let's sing "Don't forget the Sabbath." 04:34 Don't forget the Sabbath 04:36 The Lord our God has blest 04:38 Of all the week the brightest 04:41 Of all the week the best 04:43 It brings repose from labor 04:45 It tells of joy divine 04:47 Its beams of light descending 04:50 With heavenly beauty shine 04:52 Welcome, welcome, ever welcome 04:55 Blessed Sabbath day 04:57 Welcome, welcome, ever welcome 04:59 Blessed Sabbath day 05:02 Keep the Sabbath holy 05:05 And worship Him today 05:07 Who said to His disciples 05:09 I am the living Way 05:12 And if we meekly follow 05:14 Our Savior here below 05:16 He'll give us of the fountain 05:19 Whose streams eternal flow 05:21 Welcome, welcome, ever welcome 05:24 Blessed Sabbath day 05:26 Welcome, welcome, ever welcome 05:28 Blessed Sabbath day 05:33 Braedan, can we please sing "Standing on the promises?" 05:35 We sure can. 05:38 Standing on the promises of Christ my King 05:42 Through eternal ages let His praises ring 05:47 Glory in the highest I will shout and sing 05:51 Standing on the promises of God 05:55 Standing, standing 05:59 Standing on the promises of God my Savior 06:04 Standing, standing 06:09 I'm standing on the promises of God 06:17 Braedan, can we please sing "Whisper a prayer?" 06:19 I love that song. 06:20 Let's sing it together. 06:23 Whisper a prayer in the morning 06:28 Whisper a prayer at noon 06:33 Whisper a prayer in the evening 06:38 To keep your heart in tune 06:43 God answers prayer in the morning 06:48 God answers prayer at noon 06:53 God answers prayer in the evening 06:58 To keep your heart in tune 07:04 Thanks, Braedan. 07:05 Singing songs to our Creator makes me so happy. 07:08 Jesus has done so much for us. 07:11 Now let's join Dr. John in his study. 07:13 Find out what surprise he has for us this week? 07:17 Hello, boys and girls, 07:19 it's wonderful to have you back here. 07:21 And I want to tell you a story from the Bible 07:24 and then a modern counterpart. 07:29 A little boy was born in biblical times, 07:33 way back in the time of the Judges. 07:36 And God said that this boy is going to be different. 07:40 He's going to be special, 07:43 and he will be the strongest person 07:47 who ever lived. 07:49 What was his name? 07:52 Samson. 07:54 But there's one condition, 07:57 you mustn't cut his hair, ever. 08:02 Because if you cut his hair, 08:04 it'll be a sign that he is no longer a Nazarene 08:08 which was what they called them. 08:10 And he will be just as weak as every other man. 08:14 But while his hair is long, 08:17 he will have incredible strength. 08:20 Now as I look around here, 08:22 I think we must have some very strong girls. 08:27 Bethany, I love your hair. 08:29 Hold it up so we can all see it. 08:31 And all the boys and girls around, 08:32 that's beautiful. 08:34 How often do you cut it? Not very often. 08:36 Not very often, you just trim and your sister Amber. 08:41 I want all the girls to hold out 08:42 their nice long hair. 08:45 Oh, it's beautiful. 08:47 I love your hair too, Abigail. 08:49 I wonder whether I can have a haircut like that. 08:53 Boys, 08:55 if you turned up at school with hair like the girls, 09:03 do you think you'd get teased? 09:06 What do you think they would call you? 09:10 They would call you girly, 09:12 or sissy, or something. 09:16 There are some cultures 09:18 where the boys do grow their hair 09:19 until they're about 12 years of age 09:21 and some other will do that, 09:23 and they are not embarrassed. 09:25 And if I hold up this picture, 09:28 and you saw it for the first time, 09:30 you'll say, oh, there's a nice looking girl, 09:36 that the girl's name was Colon and when he was four years old, 09:42 he said to his mummy, 09:45 I don't want to get my hair cut any longer. 09:49 And his mother said, 09:50 "Why, why don't you want your hair cut?" 09:54 He gave the answer that you and I 09:56 when we are children often give, 09:59 why not, because it was his secret. 10:05 And so his mother said, 10:06 "If you want to have your hair long, 10:08 I'm warning you when you go to school, 10:11 the boys will tease you. 10:14 They'll make names and call you girly." 10:19 Colon was only four years old and he said, 10:21 "That's all right." 10:23 And his hair grew, and grew, 10:26 and grew until he was 10 years old. 10:31 Six years has gone by, and he said, "All right, 10:34 it's time to go to the hairdresser." 10:39 And he had a haircut and he looked quite different. 10:46 Why do you think he grew his hair 10:50 for all those years, six years? 10:52 He wrote a letter and he says what he wrote, 10:58 "Hi, there my name is Colon and I'm 10 years old. 11:01 I have been growing my hair since I was four years old. 11:05 I wondered what to do with it, 11:07 and thought it would be a great idea to donate my hair 11:12 to people and kids who lost their hair to cancer." 11:18 You know, when people get cancer, 11:20 sometimes they have to give them a treatment. 11:23 And that makes their hair fall out. 11:25 And it grows back again later, but it's terrible, 11:28 particularly if you're a girl, 11:29 if you go around without your hair, 11:31 and particularly if you're a little girl, 11:33 and Colon went for six years to let his hair grow long 11:38 so he could help restore the hair and give them a wig 11:45 while their hair was growing again. 11:47 I think that's amazing that a four year old boy 11:50 decided to grow his hair and all the people 11:53 would mock him for all those years 11:55 and you know, he had so much courage, 11:58 he had so much determination, 12:00 he really had a goal in life and he followed it. 12:04 And we have the same goal and that is 12:07 "If you serve God and you focus on God 12:10 and do nothing but want to follow Him, 12:13 and all your friends can laugh at you, 12:15 and you follow God, 12:17 you will be as brave and as wonderful as Colon." 12:21 I think that's a beautiful story, don't you? 12:24 Thank you, boys and girls. 12:26 Hi, boys and girls, welcome to our Bible study. 12:29 If you haven't got your Bible, 12:30 go get it now so you can follow along with us. 12:33 Abigail, can you please say a prayer 12:35 before we open our Bible study? 12:37 Dear Father, thank You for our Bibles. 12:39 Help us to understand what we read 12:41 and allow to warm our hearts. 12:43 Be with the children who are watching at home, 12:45 in Jesus' name, amen. 12:47 Thanks Abby. 12:49 Now, Bethany, 12:50 do you remember what we studied about last Sabbath? 12:52 Elisha's ascension to heaven. 12:54 And who was the prophet that took Elijah's place? 12:57 Elisha? Yes. 12:58 Before we study more about Elisha, 13:01 we're going to look at those kings 13:03 and see what's going on up there. 13:05 Let's look at the northern kingdom 13:07 of our map of kings 13:09 and let's point out King Ahaziah. 13:13 Now when he died, 13:14 his brother became king and took his place. 13:17 And we're going to study about that now. 13:19 Erin, can you please read 2 Kings 3:1-3? 13:25 "Now Jehoram son of Ahab became king of Israel 13:28 at Samaria in the 18th year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, 13:33 and reigned 12 years. 13:34 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, 13:37 but not like his father and mother, 13:39 for he put away the sacred pillar of Baal 13:41 that his father had made. 13:43 Nevertheless he persisted in the sins of Jeroboam, 13:47 the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin, 13:50 he did not depart from them." 13:54 So again, King Jehoram was not much better 13:57 than his father or his brother. 14:00 Though he did take down the idols to bow, 14:03 but he still worshiped the golden calf 14:05 set up by Jeroboam. 14:08 Okay, so let's now go over to 2 Chronicles 14:11 and let's find out what's going on down 14:15 in the southern kingdom. 14:17 Now we read in the Bible last Sabbath 14:19 that Jehoshaphat was a good king 14:22 and he ruled for 25 years. 14:24 When he died, his son took his place. 14:27 Aunt Cecily, can you show us that on the map 14:29 of the southern tribes? 14:31 So Jehoshaphat was a good king and then his son Jehoram, 14:34 also name as Joram took his place. 14:36 Okay, so Abigail, can you please read 14:39 2 Chronicles 21:5-6? 14:42 "Jehoram was 32 years old when he became king, 14:45 and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. 14:48 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, 14:51 just as the house of Ahab had done, 14:54 for he had the daughter of Ahab as a wife, 14:58 and he did evil in the sight of the Lord." 15:01 So because Jehoram was so wicked, 15:04 especially since his father and grandfather 15:07 had been good kings, 15:08 Elijah before he went to heaven 15:10 wrote a letter to Jehoram, 15:12 telling him he would become sick 15:14 in his intestines or down in the tummy. 15:17 This did happen and Jehoram died. 15:20 After this Jehoram's younger son, 15:22 Ahaziah became king and only ruled a year 15:26 because he did evil in sight of the Lord. 15:30 Aunt Cecily, can you just show us that, 15:32 Ahaziah up there? 15:34 There's two Ahaziahs, gets a bit confusing, 15:36 but there was Ahaziah on both sides of the kingdom. 15:39 So the kings were not tracking very well. 15:42 So far, only two have been good kings 15:46 out of the 16 spread out over the two kingdoms. 15:49 They were kings Asa and Jehoshaphat. 15:53 Let's go back to 2 Kings 15:55 and continue to read about Elisha. 15:58 Bethany, can you please read 2 Kings 4:1-4? 16:03 "So Elisha said to her, 'What shall I do for you? 16:06 Tell me, what do you have in the house?' 16:08 And she said, 'Your maidservant has nothing in the house 16:11 but a jar of oil.' 16:13 Then he said, 'Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, 16:16 from all your neighbors empty vessels, 16:18 do not gather just a few. 16:21 And when you have come in, 16:23 you shall shut the door behind you and your sons, 16:25 then pour it into all those vessels, 16:27 and set aside the full ones.' 16:29 " Okay, Sophie, can you read verses 5-7 please? 16:32 "So she went from him and shut the door 16:34 behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her, 16:38 and she poured it out. 16:39 Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, 16:42 that she said to her son, 'Bring me another vessel.' 16:46 And he said to her, 'There is not another vessel.' 16:49 So the oil ceased. 16:50 Then she came and told the man of God. 16:53 And he said, 'Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, 16:57 and you and your sons live on the rest.'" 16:59 Wow, what an amazing miracle God performed through Elisha 17:03 for the widow and her sons. 17:05 God is so good. 17:07 Let's continue reading. 17:08 Matthew, can you please read 2 Kings 4:8-10? 17:12 "Now it happened one day that Elisha went to Shunem, 17:15 where there was a notable woman, 17:17 and she persuaded him to eat some food. 17:20 So it was, as often as he passed by, 17:23 he would turn in there to eat some food. 17:26 And she said to her husband, 'Look now, 17:30 I know that there is a holy man of God, 17:32 who passes by us regularly. 17:35 Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall, 17:38 and let us put a bed for him there, 17:40 and a table and a chair and a lampstand, 17:44 so it will be, whenever he comes to us, 17:47 he can turn in there.'" 17:49 Thanks, Matthew. 17:50 So this Shunammite woman was a woman of prominence 17:53 and wealth in her community. 17:55 She recognized that Elisha was a man of God 17:58 and she wanted to provide a place 18:00 that he could retreat during his travels. 18:03 After the room was built, 18:05 she invited Elisha and his servant Gehazi to stay. 18:09 Let's see what Elisha's response was to this kindness. 18:13 Mia, can you please read 2 Kings 4:14-16? 18:18 "So he said, 'What then is to be done for her?' 18:23 And Gehazi answered, 'Actually, 18:26 she has no son, and her husband is old.' 18:30 So he said, 'Call her.' 18:32 When he had called her, she stood in the doorway. 18:36 Then he said, 'About this time next year 18:39 you shall embrace a son.' 18:40 And she said, 'No, my lord. 18:42 Man of God, do not lie to my maidservant!'" 18:45 To your maidservant. 18:47 Okay. 18:48 Elisha told the Shunammite woman 18:50 that she was finally after many years of trying, 18:53 going to have a baby. 18:54 And verse 17 tells us that was exactly what happened. 18:59 Aunty Cecily, can you read 2 Kings 4:18-21? 19:05 And the child grew. 19:07 Now it happened one day that he went out to his father, 19:11 to the reapers. 19:12 And he said to his father, 'My head, my head!' 19:17 So he said to a servant, 'Carry him to his mother.' 19:21 When he had taken him and brought him to his mother, 19:26 he sat on her knees till noon, and then died. 19:30 And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, 19:34 shut the door upon him, and went out.'" 19:37 No, no, the Shunammite woman knew 19:40 that Elisha had gone to Mount Carmel, 19:43 and she left immediately to go after him. 19:46 When she arrived, she refused to leave 19:49 until Elisha came back home with her. 19:51 Let's see what happens next. 19:53 Erin, can you read 2 Kings 4:32-34? 19:58 "When Elisha came into the house, 20:00 there was the child, lying dead on his bed. 20:03 He went in therefore, 20:05 shut the door behind the two of them, 20:07 and prayed to the Lord. 20:08 And he went up and lay on the child, 20:11 he put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, 20:15 and his hands on his hands, 20:17 and he stretched himself out on the child, 20:20 and the flesh of the child became warm." 20:25 Abigail, can you please read verses 35-36? 20:29 "He returned and walked back and forth in the house, 20:33 and again went up and stretched himself out on him, 20:38 then the child sneezed seven times, 20:40 and the child opened his eyes. 20:42 And he called Gehazi and said, 'Call this Shunammite woman.' 20:46 So he called her. 20:47 And when she came in to him, he said, 'Pick up your son.'" 20:53 Wow, what an amazing miracle God performed through Elisha. 20:57 God raised the Shunammite son from the dead. 21:01 God is so good. 21:03 Elisha spent a lot of time with the students 21:05 from the school of the prophets as these schools were important 21:09 to restoring the spirituality of Israel. 21:12 Let's read about one of the miracles 21:14 that happened at one of these schools. 21:17 Bethany, can you please read 2 Kings 4:42-44? 21:23 "Then a man came from Baal Shalisha, 21:25 and brought the man of God bread 21:27 of the first fruits, twenty loaves of barley bread, 21:30 and newly ripened grain in his knapsack. 21:34 And he said, 'Give it to the people 21:36 that they may eat.' 21:38 But his servant said, 'What? 21:40 Shall I set this before one hundred men?' 21:43 He said again, 'Give it to the people, 21:45 that they may eat, for thus says the Lord: 21:47 'They shall eat and have some left over.' 21:50 So he set it before them, 21:51 and they ate and had some left over, 21:53 according to the word of the Lord.'" 21:55 Wow, so the miracle was that a small amount of food 21:59 given by very kind man to feed 100 hungry young men 22:03 was enough to fill them with some leftover. 22:07 God is so good. 22:08 Let's look at our torchlight Mrs. White's writings 22:11 to see what they shine on what we've been reading. 22:14 Erin, can you please read that for us? 22:18 "The work of Elisha as a prophet 22:20 was in some respects 22:21 very different from that of Elijah. 22:24 To Elijah had been committed messages 22:28 of condemnation and judgment, 22:31 his was the voice of fearless reproof, 22:34 calling king and people to turn from their evil ways. 22:37 Elisha's was a more peaceful mission, 22:40 his it was to build up and strengthen the work 22:43 that Elijah had begun, 22:44 to teach the people the way of the Lord." 22:47 Thanks, Erin. 22:49 So Elisha was a very kind and faithful man 22:52 whose ministry was one of healing and teaching. 22:56 Even though Elisha's ministry was very different to Elijah's, 23:00 God used both of them in a very powerful way 23:04 to bring reformation to Israel. 23:06 Let's look at our memory verse in Ephesians 4:32, 23:10 and we'll read that together. 23:11 And for the boys and girls at home, 23:13 Ephesians is in the New Testament. 23:17 You all ready? 23:19 "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, 23:24 forgiving one another, 23:26 even as God in Christ forgave you." 23:29 That's a good verse to finish upon, 23:31 as it sums up our study today. 23:34 Thank you boys and girls, for reading along with us. 23:37 We have a devotional available that goes into more depth 23:39 on what we studied today. 23:41 Here's how you can get that. 23:43 Hey, boys and girls, as Aunty Nat said, 23:45 you can get your own devotionals. 23:47 Yes, you can download them free from our website 23:49 at adaywiththeking.com and, 23:51 Anna, we can't forget to tell the kids 23:53 to check out Teddy's blog. 23:54 We have some behind the scene photos 23:56 of filming the program. 23:57 Yes, and we also have some photos of Teddy 24:00 going on his annual visit to the vet. 24:02 We love to hear wherever on the world 24:03 you're watching the program from. 24:05 So drop us a line and let us know. 24:07 Get a pen and write down our email address now, 24:10 dwk@3abnaustralia.org.au. 24:14 So hop online today. 24:16 Thanks, Kate and Anna. 24:18 Aunty Nat, what are we going to study about next week? 24:20 Yes, next Sabbath, 24:22 we're going to study about a very faithful girl 24:25 who shared how great her God was. 24:27 Come back next week to find out all about it. 24:30 Aunty Cecily, should we go over our memory verse 24:32 that we learned in our study today? 24:34 Yes, let's say it all together children, 24:36 Ephesians 4:32, "And be kind to one another, 24:42 tenderhearted, forgiving one another, 24:46 even as God in Christ forgave you." 24:51 That's a good memory verse to remember. 24:54 Bethany, what did you learn about the King today? 24:56 That God wants us to talk with Him through prayer. 24:59 He does, He loves to hear from us. 25:02 We can come to Him anywhere and anytime 25:05 and talk to Him through prayer. 25:07 Aunty Cecily, shall we sing our goodbye song? 25:09 Yes, would you like to turn around 25:11 so we can sing to the boys and girls at home? 25:19 May God bless you and keep you 25:24 And fill your heart with love 25:29 May God guide and protect you 25:35 And watch you from above 25:40 And Sabbath after Sabbath 25:45 We greet the day of rest 25:50 The day the King of glory 25:55 Has sanctified and blessed 26:00 Goodbye my friend till we meet again 26:05 For another day with the King 26:11 Goodbye! 26:12 See you next Sabbath! 26:20 My favorite story in the Bible was Noah's Ark 26:23 because he obeyed God and all the animals 26:26 were saved in the ark. 26:29 My favorite story in the Bible is about the 12 spies 26:32 and how Caleb and Joshua stood up in front of everybody. 26:39 My favorite story in the Bible is Mary, and Joseph, 26:42 and baby Jesus 26:43 'cause He's the Savior of the world. |
