Welcome to our lounge room. 00:54 I'm so glad you've joined us for worship. 00:57 Hi, Aunty Cecily, 00:58 it's wonderful that you're here with us again. 01:00 Thanks, Aunty Nat, I love being here with you, 01:03 and the boys and girls each week. 01:05 And how are you today, kids? 01:07 Good. 01:08 Oh, that's wonderful. 01:10 Boys and girls, how's your week been? 01:12 Has God blessed you this week? 01:14 When we stop and rest on the Sabbath, 01:16 it's a good time to reflect 01:18 and look back on how God has taken care of us 01:20 during the past week. 01:22 Even if it has been a week full of challenges, 01:25 we can still find some blessings in there 01:27 if we really think about it. 01:29 Perhaps you could send us an email 01:31 and tell us how God has blessed you. 01:33 We would love to hear from you. 01:35 Our email address is on the screen. 01:38 But you know what? 01:39 We need to say hello to Teddy. 01:41 Hi, Teddy. 01:42 It's good to have you here as always. 01:44 Aunty Cecily, can you please say a prayer for us 01:47 to open our worship time? 01:49 Yes. Let's bow our heads. 01:51 Dear Heavenly Father, 01:52 thank You for keeping us safe through another week. 01:55 And thank You for the Sabbath day 01:57 where we can find rest in You. 01:59 And we pray for Your Holy Spirit 02:01 to be in our hearts and minds 02:03 and especially with the boys and girls at home 02:06 who are joining us, in Jesus' name, amen. 02:09 Amen. 02:10 Thanks, Aunty Cecily. 02:11 Now let's find out 02:13 what the next key to the kingdom is. 02:15 Erin, can you open our gift box 02:17 to find out what our key is today? 02:19 There we go. 02:24 What's on the tag? 02:26 Trust God when tempted. 02:27 Oh, great. 02:29 Now can you turn that over and tell us the verse? 02:31 1 Corinthians 10:13. 02:33 Thanks, Erin. 02:35 Mia, can you read that verse for us in the Bible? 02:37 "No temptation has overtaken you 02:40 except such as is common to man, 02:43 but God is faithful, 02:44 who will not allow you to be tempted 02:47 beyond what you are able, but with the temptation 02:50 will also make the way of escape, 02:54 that you may be able to bear it." 02:56 Thanks, Mia. 02:57 That was a long verse today. 02:59 Aunty Cecily, our key today is an interesting one. 03:02 Can you please explain it to us? 03:03 Yes. 03:05 Today's case is an important one 03:06 to understand. 03:07 We have learned some amazing stories 03:09 of trust in God 03:11 and the Bible in study time with Aunty Nat. 03:14 When Moses put his rod out, 03:16 the waters of the Red Sea rolled back. 03:19 And Ruth left her own family and followed Naomi 03:22 to a place she'd never been to. 03:24 And David defeated Goliath with just a sling and a stone. 03:29 Later in our lesson with Aunty Nat, 03:31 we'll learn how an important man 03:33 called Naaman, 03:34 who was not an Israelite, 03:36 trusted God, 03:38 and we'll learn about the miracle 03:39 that happened to him. 03:41 God always has everything under control. 03:45 We can trust Him. 03:47 As we learn to trust Him in the little things, 03:49 so our trust will grow stronger, 03:52 and we'll learn to trust Him with the big things, 03:55 such as in a crisis 03:56 and when we're tempted to do wrong. 03:59 God will never let us be tempted 04:01 beyond our ability to resist Satan 04:04 through the power of the Holy Spirit. 04:07 And remember, there's power in the Word. 04:10 The Bible is just full of wonderful promises 04:13 that we can claim. 04:15 This means that we can resist all of Satan's temptations. 04:19 Giving into Satan's temptations will make us unhappy. 04:23 And sometimes leave us with bitter regrets. 04:26 God knows this. 04:27 And because He wants us to be happy, 04:30 He provides a way to overcome temptation 04:33 through trust in His divine power 04:35 to deliver us. 04:37 Erin, what do you think Satan might do to tempt you 04:41 and cause you to trip up? 04:43 He might make me given in peer pressure. 04:46 Yes. 04:47 And what do you think, Mia? 04:49 Getting hooked on computer games. 04:51 Yes. 04:52 They're some of the tricks Satan uses to cause us to sin, 04:56 but God has a way of escape for us. 04:59 Remember to ask God to send the Holy Spirit 05:02 to help you to say no, 05:04 when Satan tempts you to do something wrong. 05:07 So let's ask God to help us to trust Him more, 05:10 so that we can have the confidence 05:13 to call on Him for help when we're tempted. 05:16 Thanks, Aunty Cecily. 05:18 I can see why our 11th key to the kingdom is so important. 05:22 We need to trust 05:23 that God's power is stronger than the temptations 05:26 that Satan throws at us. 05:28 God is so good. 05:29 Guess what, kids? 05:31 It's time for some music. 05:33 Thanks, Braedan, for joining us 05:35 and helping us praise God in song. 05:37 Thanks, Aunty Nat. 05:39 Hi, boys and girls. 05:40 Let's sing "Remember the Sabbath." 05:43 Looking forward, looking back We're gonna keep on track 05:48 Looking forward, looking back 05:50 We're gonna keep on track 05:53 Looking forward to salvation Looking back on God's creation 05:59 We'll remember we're to keep God's Sabbath holy 06:05 Looking forward, looking back We're gonna keep on track 06:10 Looking forward, looking back 06:12 We're gonna keep on track 06:15 Looking forward to salvation Looking back on God's creation 06:21 We will worship our Redeemer 06:23 Every Sabbath 06:28 Braedan, can we sing 06:30 "'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus?" 06:31 We certainly can. 06:38 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus 06:43 And to take Him at His word 06:48 Just to rest upon His promise 06:53 And to know, "Thus saith the Lord!" 06:58 Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! 07:03 How I've proved Him o'er and o'er! 07:07 Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! 07:12 O for grace to trust Him more! 07:22 Braedan, can we please sing "Trust and Obey?" 07:26 We certainly can. 07:27 That's a great song. Let's sing it together. 07:32 When we walk with the Lord 07:35 In the light of His Word 07:39 What a glory He sheds on our way! 07:45 While we do His good will 07:49 He abides with us still 07:52 And with all 07:53 Who will trust and obey 07:59 Trust and obey For there's no other way 08:05 To be happy in Jesus 08:10 But to trust and obey 08:14 Thanks, Braedan. 08:16 We really enjoy our worship time with you. 08:18 Now who's our favorite storyteller? 08:21 Doctor John. 08:23 Yes, let's go and see what story he has for us today. 08:27 Hello, boys and girls, 08:28 it's wonderful to be together again. 08:31 And I want to say a special welcome 08:33 to the boys and girls in Russia, 08:36 because this is a story about a Russian boy. 08:41 You know, America and Russia haven't always been 08:44 very good friends. 08:46 And there was a period, quite a few years ago 08:48 when I was a bit younger, 08:50 where we almost had a war 08:53 that would have destroyed the world. 08:55 But there was a little boy, his name was Vasili. 09:00 And I don't know whether he got teased 09:03 because part of his name sounded silly. 09:07 But he grew up very strong. 09:10 And he was a boy who could not be bullied. 09:15 If I show you a photograph of him 09:18 as a young man, 09:19 you will see that he has a very strong face. 09:25 He doesn't look like somebody who's going to be bullied. 09:29 And as he got older, 09:31 and he became an important sailor, 09:34 he still got that strong face. 09:37 While he was in the submarine 09:40 near America, 09:42 at the bottom of the ocean, 09:45 and he could not contact the people back in Russia 09:49 because he was too deep. 09:51 But he thought that a war was starting 09:54 because the American boats were dropping bombs 09:57 and trying to make the submarine 09:59 come to the surface. 10:01 They had been there for days, 10:03 they were running out of oxygen, 10:06 they're running out of water. 10:09 It was getting very hot. 10:11 And the captain of the boat said, 10:13 "I think there's war. 10:15 And I think we need to press the red button 10:19 and fire off a missile 10:22 and destroy all the people that we can in America." 10:27 There was a problem. 10:29 Vasili was the other person who had to give approval. 10:32 Now, this is how it works in a nuclear submarine, 10:36 and I've only got just toy locks. 10:38 They had special locks. 10:40 And there were two of them. 10:41 And I got one for Jeremiah, and one for Matthew. 10:45 And this was the deal. 10:48 When you had to open the box where the red button was, 10:53 you both had to turn the keys 10:55 within one second of each other. 10:57 Let's have it go boys. 11:00 Go. 11:02 And it worked. 11:04 There's been no explosion but you open it, 11:06 press the button, 11:08 and off goes the missile, or in this case a torpedo. 11:13 But Vasili said no, 11:16 I don't think the war has started. 11:19 And I think if we press that button, 11:23 there will be a war, 11:26 and we will be the cause of it, and I refuse to do it. 11:30 And you know what? 11:31 There were two other captains on the boat 11:35 and they start to bully him. 11:37 They threatened him, they said, "Unlock the key. 11:41 Give us the key." 11:43 He said, "No, I won't." 11:44 And the story goes from some of the sailors 11:47 that they hit him, 11:49 and they punched him. 11:51 He said, "I will not give you my key." 11:56 You know, 11:58 they finally had to come to the surface. 12:01 And when they got to the surface, 12:03 and they opened up the top of the submarine 12:06 and let in all the fresh air and they looked out. 12:10 They discovered something. 12:13 There was no war. 12:16 If he had have weakened and turned the key 12:21 and pressed the button, 12:23 we might not be here today, 12:25 because that one bomb 12:28 could have destroyed a million people. 12:33 You know, Jesus was bullied by Satan. 12:37 Jesus hadn't eaten for weeks, and weeks, and weeks, 12:40 and Satan said, 12:42 "Bake some bread, show how powerful you are." 12:45 Then he said, "You jump off the building. 12:49 And I will worship, and you will be the king, 12:52 but I will be the boss." 12:54 And then he said, 12:56 "Jesus, all you do is bow down to me." 12:58 And Jesus was so weak because He hadn't eaten. 13:01 And he said, 13:02 "I will not be bullied. 13:07 I have my father in heaven, and you are the imposter." 13:13 And he was terribly weak. 13:15 He must have been terribly tempted, 13:18 but He did not allow Satan to bully Him. 13:22 And because of that, you and I, one day, 13:26 will meet Jesus and live with Him in heaven. 13:29 I'm looking forward to that, you? 13:31 Absolutely. 13:32 Thank you, boys and girls. 13:34 Hi, boys and girls, welcome to our Bible study. 13:37 If you haven't got your Bibles ready yet, 13:38 go get them now 13:40 so you can follow along with us. 13:41 Sophie, can you please say a prayer for us 13:43 before we commence our study? 13:45 Dear Father, thank You for loving us so much. 13:48 Help us to learn more about You and what You have done for us 13:51 as we read our Bibles today. 13:53 Be with the children who are watching us at home, 13:56 in Jesus' name, amen. 13:58 Amen. Thank you, Sophie. 13:59 Now, Mia, what did we study about last Sabbath? 14:02 Elisha did a lot of miracles. 14:04 He did through God. 14:05 It was an amazing story last Sabbath. 14:08 But today we're going to continue studying 14:10 about Elisha, 14:12 and one miracle in particular 14:14 that happened to a man named Naaman. 14:16 Let's read about it. 14:18 Erin, can you please read 2 Kings 5:1? 14:21 "Now Naaman, 14:23 commander of the army of the king of Syria, 14:25 was a great and honorable man in the eyes of his master, 14:29 because by him 14:30 the Lord had given victory to Syria. 14:33 He was also a mighty man of valor, but a leper." 14:36 So Naaman had leprosy and back in Bible times, 14:40 it was an incurable skin disease 14:43 that people died from. 14:44 But today, it can be cured with special medication. 14:48 Now, the Syrians were constantly at war 14:50 with Israel, 14:52 and during one of the raids, 14:53 they had taken with them a young Israelite girl. 14:57 Now can you show us 14:58 where Syria was around Damascus area? 15:01 And they used to come down in raiding parties, 15:03 and this particular time 15:04 they took a little girl back with them. 15:06 Okay. 15:08 The girl became a maid to captain Naaman's man's wife. 15:12 Caleb, can you please read 2 Kings 5:3? 15:17 "Then she said to her mistress, 15:19 'If only my master were with the prophet 15:22 who is in Samaria! 15:23 For he would heal him of his leprosy.'" 15:26 Let's look at our torchlight Mrs. White's writings 15:29 to see what they shine on this verse. 15:31 Caleb, can you please read that for us? 15:35 "The parents of the Hebrew maid, 15:37 as they taught her of God did not know the destiny 15:40 that would be hers. 15:41 But they were faithful to their trust, 15:43 and in the home of the captain of the Syrian host. 15:46 The child bore witness to the God 15:48 whom she had learned to honor." 15:50 Thank you, Caleb. 15:52 So this young girl from Israel was a great witness for God. 15:56 And she had faith that God's prophet, Elisha, 16:00 would be able to heal Captain Naaman. 16:03 And when Captain Naaman finds out this hopeful news, 16:06 he goes to the king of Syria 16:08 to get permission to go to Israel 16:10 and seek out Elisha. 16:12 This, the king of Syria granted. 16:14 Let's see what Naaman does next. 16:17 Abigail, can you please read 2 Kings 5:6-7? 16:22 "Then he brought the letter to the king of Israel, 16:25 which said, 16:27 'Now be advised, when this letter comes to you, 16:30 that I have sent Naaman my servant to you, 16:32 that you may heal him of his leprosy.' 16:35 And it happened, 16:37 when the king of Israel read the letter, 16:39 that he tore his clothes and said, 16:41 'Am I God, to kill and make alive, 16:44 that this man sends a man to me 16:47 to heal him of his leprosy? 16:51 Therefore please consider, 16:53 and see how he seeks a quarrel with me.'" 16:57 So when king Joram of Israel got that letter 17:00 from the king of Syria, 17:02 he was pretty upset, 17:03 because it demanded that King Joram 17:05 healed captain Naaman of leprosy. 17:09 But Elisha heard about this 17:11 and sent a message to King Joram, 17:13 to send Naamam to him. 17:15 Sophie, can you please read 2 Kings 5:9-10? 17:19 "Then Naaman went with his horses and chariot, 17:22 and he stood at the door of Elisha's house. 17:24 And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, 17:27 'Go and wash in the river Jordan 17:28 seven times, 17:30 and your flesh shall be restored to you, 17:32 and you shall be clean.'" 17:33 Wow! 17:35 The next verse tells us that Naaman was pretty angry 17:37 that Elisha himself did not come out to speak to him, 17:40 but sent his servant Gehazi instead. 17:42 Naaman also thought it was beneath him 17:45 to have to wash in the Jordan River, 17:47 as apparently at that time, 17:49 the rivers in his country were more beautiful. 17:52 So Naaman turned and hopped to go home. 17:55 But a wise, brave servant of Naaman spoke up to him. 17:58 Matthew, can you please read that in 2 Kings 5:13-14.? 18:04 "And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, 18:08 'My father, if the prophet had told you 18:10 to do something great, 18:12 would you not have done it? 18:14 How much more then, when he says to you, 18:18 'Wash, and be clean?' 18:20 So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, 18:23 according to the saying of the man of God, 18:25 and his flesh was restored 18:28 like the flesh of a little child, 18:30 and he was clean.'" 18:33 So Naaman decided to give it a try after all, 18:36 and he was healed. 18:38 God is so good. 18:39 Mia, can you read 2 Kings 5:15-16? 18:44 "And he returned to the man of God, 18:46 he and all his aides, and came and stood before him, 18:51 and he said, 'Indeed, now I know 18:54 that there is no God in all the earth, 18:56 except in Israel, 18:58 now therefore, please take a gift from your servant.' 19:01 But he said, 19:03 'As the Lord lives, before whom I stand, 19:06 I will receive nothing.' 19:07 But he urged him to take it, but he refused.'" 19:11 So Naaman acknowledged God before Elisha, 19:14 and in His thankfulness, wanted to give him some gifts, 19:18 but Elisha refused. 19:19 You can't pay for a miracle from God. 19:23 Time passed and the king of Syria 19:25 wanted to make war with Israel. 19:27 But twice his plans were ruined. 19:30 Because God told Elisha, 19:32 and Elisha warned the king of Israel. 19:34 When the Syrian king found out what was happening, 19:37 he was very angry 19:39 and wanted to get rid of Elisha. 19:42 He found out that Elisha was at Dothan. 19:45 Aunty Cecily, can you please read 2 Kings 6:14-15? 19:53 "Therefore he sent horses and chariots 19:56 and a great army there, 19:58 and they came by night and surrounded the city. 20:01 And when the servant of the man of God arose early 20:05 and went out, there was an army, 20:07 surrounding the city with horses and chariots. 20:10 And his servant said to him, 'Alas, my master! 20:14 What shall we do?'" 20:16 So the Syrian army surrounded the town of Dothan. 20:19 Erin, can you please read 2 Kings 6:16-17? 20:24 "So he answered, 'Do not fear, 20:26 for those who are with us 20:28 are more than those who are with them.' 20:30 And Elisha prayed, and said, 20:32 'Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.' 20:35 Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. 20:39 And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots 20:43 of fire all around Elisha.'" 20:46 So Elisha wasn't worried about the Syrian army, 20:50 as he knew that the heavenly army 20:52 was looking after him. 20:53 He prayed and asked God to reveal to his servant, 20:58 the angels who were between them 21:00 and the Syrian army, protecting them. 21:02 Let's go to our memory verse in Psalms 34:7, 21:07 and let's read that together. 21:10 "The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, 21:15 and delivers them." 21:17 What a wonderful promise we can claim. 21:21 Okay, let's go and see 21:23 what those kings were getting up to. 21:25 Let's look at the northern kingdom 21:26 of Israel first. 21:28 King Jehu had been anointed by God 21:30 to remove all the Baal worship from the kingdom of Israel. 21:34 What he did next was pretty gruesome. 21:37 He killed King Joram of Israel, King Ahaziah of Judah, 21:40 Ahab's wife, Jezebel, 21:42 and all the people associated with Baal worship. 21:45 Even though Jehu did what God asked him to do, 21:48 he still worshiped those golden calves 21:51 that King Jeroboam I had set up. 21:54 When he died, 21:55 his son Jehoahaz came to the throne. 21:57 Can you show that to us, Aunty Cecily? 22:01 The Bible tells us he was a wicked king. 22:04 Let's now go over to 2 Chronicles 22:06 to see what is happening in Judah down in the south. 22:09 Now when Jehu killed Ahaziah, his mother became queen, 22:13 but she got rid of all the heirs 22:15 to the throne, except for one, 22:17 and we're gonna read about that now. 22:18 Caleb, can you please read 2 Chronicles 22:11? 22:24 "But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, 22:27 took Joash the son of Ahaziah, 22:29 and stole him away from among the king's sons 22:31 who were being murdered, 22:33 and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. 22:38 So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram, 22:42 the wife of Jehoiada the priest, 22:46 for she was the sister of Ahaziah, 22:49 had hid from Athaliah so that she did not kill him." 22:54 What a tricky names there, Caleb, well done. 22:57 Baby Joash was rescued by his aunty. 23:00 And she hid him and he's nursed in the temple for six years. 23:04 Abigail, can you please read 2 Chronicles 24:1-2? 23:10 "Joash was seven years old when he became king, 23:13 he reigned for forty years in Jerusalem. 23:16 His mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba. 23:20 Joash did what was right in the sight of the Lord, 23:23 all the days of Jehoiada the priest." 23:27 So Joash was just a young boy when he became king. 23:31 Aunty Cecily, can you please show us that? 23:33 Thank you. 23:35 Wicked Queen Athaliah was killed by her own soldiers. 23:38 Jehoiada the priest helped Joash rule. 23:41 One of the things that King Joash was known for, 23:44 was that he repaired the temple 23:46 as it had been so neglected 23:48 from the previous three monarchs. 23:51 Now we've discovered so far from our study, 23:53 that there was a lot of drama that went on with these kings. 23:56 What do you think? 23:57 Yes. Yeah. 23:58 There was a lot of disobedience, 24:00 and lot of hate and death. 24:01 Do you think way back here, 24:03 way up to top there where King Saul was, 24:06 when Israel demanded a king, that it was a good idea? 24:10 No, it wasn't. 24:11 God told them all this would happen, 24:14 but they still demanded a king to rule them 24:16 instead of God. 24:18 I think we can learn from this experience, 24:21 and that we ask God to be the king 24:23 and ruler over our heart. 24:25 And then we can be like the little maid, 24:28 and share God with others. 24:31 Thank you, boys and girls, for reading along with us. 24:33 We have a devotional available that goes into more depth 24:36 on what we studied today. 24:38 Here is how you can get that. 24:40 Hey, boys and girls, as Aunty Nat said, 24:42 you can get your own devotionals. 24:44 Yes, you can download them free from our website 24:46 at adaywiththeking.com. 24:47 And, Anna, we can't forget to tell the kids 24:49 to check out Teddy's blog. 24:51 We have some behind the scene photos 24:53 of filming the program. 24:54 Yes, and we also have some photos of Teddy 24:56 going on his annual visit to the vet. 24:58 We love to hear wherever on the world 25:00 you're watching the program from. 25:02 So drop us a line and let us know. 25:03 Get a pen and write down our email address now, 25:06 dwk@3abnaustralia.org.au 25:10 So hop online today. 25:13 Thanks, Kate and Anna. 25:14 Yes, boys and girls, we'd love to hear from you. 25:17 Also, if you have any questions about our devotionals, 25:21 you can send us an email. 25:23 Aunty Nat, can you tell us what we're going to be studying 25:25 about next week? 25:27 Yeah, sure. 25:28 Next Sabbath, we are going to study about someone 25:30 who runs away and is swallowed by something. 25:34 Can you guess who that might be? 25:37 Come back next week to find out. 25:39 Aunty Cecily, should we go over our memory verse 25:41 we learned in our Bible study today? 25:43 You ready to say it all together, boys and girls? 25:45 Psalm 34:7, 25:48 "The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, 25:54 and delivers them." 25:56 That's a very powerful verse that we can claim 25:59 when we're in trouble or tempted. 26:01 Remember, there's power in the Word. 26:04 Mia, what did you learn about the King this week? 26:07 The little maid showed great faith and trust in God. 26:11 Yes. 26:12 It mustn't have been easy for her to witness, 26:14 when she was a captive in a strange land. 26:18 Aunty Nat, guess what time it is already? 26:20 Oh, is it already time for us to sing our goodbye song? 26:23 Yeah, I'm afraid it is. 26:25 Oh, okay, kids. 26:26 Let's turn around and sing our blessing song 26:28 to the children at home. 26:35 May God bless you and keep you 26:40 And fill your heart with love 26:45 May God guide and protect you 26:50 And watch you from above 26:55 And Sabbath after Sabbath 27:00 We greet the day of rest 27:06 The day the King of glory 27:11 Has sanctified and blessed 27:16 Goodbye my friend till we meet again 27:21 For another day with the King 27:26 Goodbye! See you next Sabbath! 27:36 My favorite stories are... in the Bible is about Jesus, 27:40 because He loves children. 27:46 My favorite Bible story is David 27:48 because how he trusted and had lots of faith in God 27:51 through the tough times. 27:55 My favorite story is Ruth, 27:56 because she was brave to follow Naomi to a foreign town. |
