00:02 Hello there. Happy Sabbath. Come on in.
00:05 We're about to meet with the King.
00:42 Hello.
00:43 I'm Aunty Leah,
00:44 and we're glad to have you back with us
00:46 as we enjoy another opening Sabbath worship time.
00:49 And it's so good to have you here Uncle Daniel,
00:51 as well as each of the happy children
00:53 who are here with us.
00:54 Hello, Aunty Leah.
00:55 I look forward to the Sabbath every week,
00:59 and I know there are some children
01:00 who love to join us each week too.
01:03 I'd like to say hello to Aria, Ella and Caleb
01:07 who live in Rangataua, New Zealand.
01:10 Hello!
01:12 Let's start our worship time with prayer.
01:15 Who would like to do that?
01:16 I will. Thanks, Bryce.
01:19 Dear Lord, thank You for the Sabbath.
01:21 Please bless all of the boys and girls watching at home,
01:25 in Your name, amen.
01:27 Amen. Thank you, Bryce.
01:29 Last week we learnt about a new word
01:31 called prophecy.
01:33 Does anyone remember what that means?
01:34 Telling the future.
01:36 That's it, Jireh.
01:38 God uses people to send messages to us
01:40 about the future.
01:42 We call the people
01:43 who give these messages from God, prophets.
01:46 The ability to tell the future is a gift from God.
01:49 We can't just decide
01:50 that we're going to tell the future.
01:52 In 1 Corinthians Chapter 12,
01:54 it tells us that
01:55 "This gift is given by the Holy Spirit
01:58 to people He chooses,
02:00 people who are obedient servants of God."
02:02 Later in our Bible study,
02:04 we'll learn how God used Daniel as a prophet.
02:07 Daniel's prophetic gift saved his life
02:10 and the life of his three friends,
02:11 as well as the other wise men of Babylon.
02:14 Let's go on our treasure hunt to discover
02:16 why God sends messages to us through His prophets.
02:20 Sai, would you like to open our jewel box
02:22 and find the bible gem for us?
02:24 Yeah.
02:28 Wow! That's so pretty.
02:31 What does the Bible gem say?
02:37 John 14:29.
02:39 Bryce, would you like to read that for us?
02:44 "And now I have told you before it comes,
02:46 that when it does come to pass, you may believe."
02:49 Thank you, Bryce.
02:51 This text tells us fulfilled prophecy
02:54 is given to strengthen our belief.
02:56 It proves that the messages in the Bible
02:58 come from God,
02:59 because only God knows the distant past
03:02 and the distant future.
03:04 The Bible also tells us
03:05 in the first few verses of Deuteronomy 13, that
03:09 "Even if false prophet
03:11 or dreamer of dreams can tell the future accurately,
03:14 we know that they are false
03:16 if they try to draw us away from God's Word
03:18 and His commandments."
03:20 Romans 15:4 says that
03:22 "God tells us the future to encourage us,
03:25 and to comfort us, and to give us hope.
03:27 God also tells us the future to warn us,
03:30 and prepare us for difficulties that may lie ahead."
03:33 Amos 3:7 says that "God does nothing
03:37 unless He reveals His secrets to His servants, the prophets."
03:40 So remember,
03:42 God has given us prophecy to guide us.
03:44 We don't need to be anxious about anything
03:47 or uncertain about the future.
03:49 God is caring for us every step of the way.
03:52 Prophecy has given me great confidence
03:54 that the Bible is God's Word.
03:57 Hey, Uncle Daniel, Braedan is here.
04:00 So he is.
04:01 Welcome Braedan.
04:02 Thanks, Uncle Dan.
04:04 Hi, everyone.
04:05 I hear that you've been learning about prophecy.
04:07 What is prophecy?
04:09 History told ahead of time.
04:11 That's it.
04:12 Let's sing about it.
04:18 Prophecy is history told ahead of time
04:22 God is good
04:24 He's so good
04:26 God reveals the future to build your faith and mine
04:31 In His word, in His word
04:36 Prophecy is history told ahead of time
04:40 Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord
04:45 Prayerfully big deep and the truth
04:47 You'll always find
04:49 In His Word, in His Word
04:55 Braedan, can we sing "The King's dream?"
04:57 We can.
04:58 And that's a very, very important dream.
05:00 Let's sing about it.
05:05 God showed the King of Babylon
05:09 What was to happen when he'd gone
05:13 A mighty image of a man
05:16 Was used to show God's master plan
05:21 Golden head the chest and arms of silver
05:25 Thighs and belly were all of brass
05:29 The legs were iron the feet were too
05:32 Mixed in with miry clay
05:36 The head of gold was Babylon
05:39 The silver - Medo-Persia strong
05:43 Then Greece, the brass
05:45 Would rule with might Iron Rome
05:48 Would nations, turn to flight
05:51 The iron and clay in the feet and toes
05:55 Would never mix together God knows
06:00 A stone uncut by human hands
06:04 Would crush the image of a man
06:08 That is the kingdom of our Lord
06:11 Who'll reign on earth for evermore
06:16 Braedan, can we please sing "It's the Sabbath?"
06:19 Yeah, that's a good one. Let's sing it.
06:25 It's the Sabbath it's the Sabbath
06:29 We will worship as we sing
06:31 For our God has come to join us
06:34 Let us spend time with our King
06:37 It's the Sabbath it's the Sabbath
06:40 We will all sing and rejoice
06:42 As we leave our week behind us
06:45 And we praise God with one voice
06:48 For God's day is the seventh day
06:51 Of ev'ry week, we know
06:53 He gave us time to spend with Him
06:56 Because he loves so
06:58 It's the Sabbath it's the Sabbath
07:01 Do you hear Him call today
07:03 As we come here now to worship Him
07:06 On His appointed day
07:11 Thanks, Braedan, I liked the prophecy song we sang.
07:15 Now it's time for story with Dr. John.
07:18 He always has something interesting to show us.
07:20 Yes, he does.
07:21 I wonder what he has for us this time.
07:23 Hello, boys and girls. And I'm Dr. John.
07:25 I'm so glad that you're here with me.
07:28 And I'm saying hello
07:30 to all the boys and girls right around the world
07:32 as almost that they are sitting with us today.
07:36 And I want to tell you the story of Elias Howe.
07:39 He was a good man,
07:40 and he wanted to make the world a better place.
07:44 And he wanted to invent something
07:46 that'd make such a difference to a lot of ladies.
07:49 And that was,
07:51 he noticed that when people did their sewing,
07:54 it took such a long time, you had a needle,
07:57 and you had a thread, and you had to push it through,
08:02 and then another stitch,
08:03 and it would take days to make a dress or a shirt.
08:08 He thought, "I want to invent something
08:10 that can do that quickly, hundreds of stitches a minute."
08:15 Well, he couldn't.
08:17 He tried and he tried.
08:20 And every time he did, that thread would get tangle
08:22 or he'd put the needle into his finger.
08:24 And one night,
08:26 he worked till about four in the morning.
08:28 He was so tired, he put his head on his bench,
08:31 and he went to sleep, and he had a dream.
08:34 You all have dreams?
08:37 I never remember my dreams.
08:40 I do sometimes. But he has a strange dream.
08:44 He's got his head on his bench, he's gone to sleep,
08:47 he's exhausted.
08:48 He dreamed he was in Africa,
08:51 and he was being chased by cannibals.
08:55 And in your dreams, you quite often get caught.
08:57 And they caught him, and they tied him up,
09:00 and they took him to their village.
09:02 There he saw a great, big oven pot.
09:08 He thought "No, they're gonna whip me,
09:10 they're gonna cook me," and they put him in.
09:12 This is just a dream.
09:15 And as the water got hotter, he tried to climb up.
09:18 And every time he put his hand over the edge,
09:21 one of them would get a spear and push him back in again.
09:24 But in his dream, he noticed something.
09:27 He noticed that the spear had a hollow point.
09:33 He'd never seen that before.
09:35 Here is the close up of the picture.
09:38 A spear with a hollow point and he thought,
09:43 "I know what to do."
09:45 He woke up,
09:46 he shook his head,
09:48 he said, "I've invented something,
09:51 the needle should go at the end."
09:55 And so he made himself
09:58 the first sewing machine.
10:01 And that looks like a sewing machine,
10:03 that's a very old one.
10:05 And if you look at the needles,
10:09 the hollow is at the end.
10:12 And, you know, that was such a great invention
10:15 that when another man called Mr. Singer,
10:18 he decided to copy the same design
10:21 and every time he made a needle,
10:25 a sewing machine,
10:27 he had to pay Mr. Elias Howe some money.
10:31 And, you know, they say
10:33 that was one of the greatest invention
10:35 of all time
10:36 because it could do a hundred stitches and just...
10:41 You see mom do sewing.
10:44 How many of you've seen dad do sewing
10:45 with the sewing machine?
10:47 I wouldn't have a clue.
10:49 But, you know, his dream was so important.
10:53 And if you look back,
10:54 because your lessons that you'll be studying
10:58 are on the Book of Daniel,
10:59 and the Bible is full of dreams
11:02 where God gave somebody a dream.
11:07 And the first dream that I could remember
11:11 that I've read about is the dream of Pharaoh
11:15 about the cows and the corn, and nobody could translate it,
11:20 and Joseph did,
11:22 and that changed the life of a whole nation,
11:25 and he became prime minister.
11:28 And there is a king, he's in the Book of Daniel.
11:32 He's got a name that's hard to spell,
11:34 Nebuchadnezzar.
11:36 And God gave him a dream one day.
11:38 And when he woke up,
11:40 he couldn't even remember the dream.
11:42 And Daniel said, "I won't tell you the dream,
11:47 but God will and he gave him a vision.
11:51 You know, the Bible says
11:52 that He gives dreams and visions,
11:55 and the mind is a human thing
11:57 but God works through our minds.
12:00 And so you'll be studying
12:01 about Nebuchadnezzar and his dream
12:05 and how it changed,
12:06 how we know all about the history of the world
12:09 because of the dream of a heathen king.
12:12 Thank you, boys and girls.
12:14 Hello again.
12:16 We're ready for another Bible study together.
12:18 Do you have your Bible with you?
12:20 I hope you do so that you can follow along with us.
12:22 Now, who would like to offer a prayer to start us off,
12:26 to invite God to be with us?
12:28 I would. Thank you, Chemiah.
12:31 Dear Jesus, please bless us as we learn more about You,
12:34 please bless the minds and hearts of the children
12:37 who have joined us, in Jesus' name, amen.
12:40 Amen.
12:42 Thank you, Chemiah.
12:44 Now, Bryce, do you remember some of the things
12:48 that we learnt last week?
12:50 Can you remind us about what they were?
12:52 Daniel, and his three friends refused
12:54 to eat the food, the king's food,
12:56 instead they had vegetables and water.
12:59 Okay. Yeah, that's right.
13:00 And when the king gave an exam, how did they perform?
13:04 They performed 10 times better than anyone in Babylon.
13:07 Very good.
13:09 Yes, so they studied diligently and God blessed their efforts.
13:13 Our story today begins in Chapter 2.
13:17 Things were going along just fine
13:19 for Daniel and his friends
13:21 until something happened to the king.
13:25 Jireh, would you please read verse 1?
13:29 "Now the second year of Nebuchadnezzar's reign,
13:32 Nebuchadnezzar had dreams,
13:33 and his spirit was so troubled that his sleep left him."
13:37 Hmm.
13:39 It seems like the king had a nightmare.
13:41 Well, whatever he saw,
13:44 it left a very deep impression on him
13:46 but he had forgotten the details.
13:49 His well paid band of magicians,
13:51 astrologers, and sorcerers
13:53 claim to have special gifts
13:55 to understand and interpret dreams and visions.
13:58 So he summoned them to the palace
14:01 to recall and explain his dreams.
14:04 Let's see what the wise men of Babylon
14:07 had to say to the king.
14:09 Caleb, could you please read that in verse 4?
14:12 Sure.
14:14 "O King, live forever!
14:16 Tell your servant the dream,
14:18 and we will give you the interpretation."
14:23 Well, the most powerful king in the whole world,
14:26 very quickly lost his patience with the so-called wise men
14:30 who claimed to have these mystical powers.
14:33 Verse 5 tells us more.
14:35 Bryce, can you please read that?
14:38 "The king answered and said to the Chaldeans,
14:41 'My decision is firm:
14:43 if you do not make known the dream to me,
14:45 and its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces,
14:48 and your houses shall be made an ash heap.'"
14:51 Ouch, the death sentence?
14:54 That's a bit extreme, isn't it?
14:56 And if they can tell the king his dream
14:59 and its interpretation.
15:00 What does verse 6 say they will receive.
15:03 Chemiah?
15:05 "However, if you tell the dream and its interpretation,
15:08 you shall receive from me gifts,
15:11 rewards, and great honor.
15:12 Therefore tell me the dream and its interpretation."
15:17 The wise men were now looking quite foolish.
15:20 In desperation, they pled once more
15:24 for the king to tell them his dream
15:26 so that they could make up some kind of an interpretation
15:29 that would satisfy him,
15:32 but the king was well aware of their deceptive scheme.
15:37 He knew they were just playing for more time.
15:40 Jeremiah, can you please read verse 9?
15:44 "If you do not make known the dream to me,
15:48 there is only one decree for you!
15:50 For you have agreed to speak lying,
15:52 and corrupt words before me till the time has changed.
15:56 Therefore, tell me the dream, and I shall know
15:59 that you can give me its interpretation."
16:02 Ooh!
16:03 The king is very quickly,
16:05 or I can see that the king
16:06 is very quickly losing his patience there.
16:08 But these men used witchcraft to trickery and lies.
16:12 Not even Satan knew the dream.
16:15 So he couldn't work through these men.
16:17 The men knew they were beaten.
16:20 In verse 11, they pled with the king
16:22 to be more reasonable.
16:24 Thanks, Sai.
16:27 "It is a difficult thing that the king requests,
16:30 and there is no other who can tell it to the king
16:35 except the gods,
16:37 whose dwelling is not with flesh."
16:40 Now, did the king feel
16:43 he needed to be more reasonable?
16:45 Not in the slightest.
16:46 He flew into a rage
16:48 and ordered Arioch, the captain of the king's guard
16:51 to carry out his decree
16:53 to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
16:56 When Arioch arrived at the house of Daniel
16:58 and his three companions,
17:00 Daniel asked Arioch,
17:02 "Why the king had made such a decree?"
17:04 Arioch explained to him about the king's dream,
17:07 and how he became very angry
17:09 when the wise men failed to recall his dream to him.
17:12 Now remember last week,
17:14 we learnt that God
17:15 had already blessed faithful Daniel
17:18 with the spiritual gift
17:19 of understanding visions and dreams.
17:22 So Daniel swung into action.
17:25 Aunty Leah, could you please read verse 16?
17:27 Yup.
17:29 "So Daniel went in
17:30 and asked the king to give him time,
17:33 that he might tell the king the interpretation."
17:37 There must have been something
17:38 about Daniel's confidence and sincerity
17:42 that caused the king to agree to give him more time.
17:46 Daniel rushed home as anyone would
17:49 and explain the situation to his companions
17:51 Hananiah, Mishael, Azariah.
17:54 They immediately held a very earnest prayer meeting.
17:59 Let's have a look at our torchlight,
18:01 Mrs. White's writings in Prophets and Kings,
18:04 page 493
18:07 which shed some more light on this.
18:09 Sai, could you please read that for us?
18:14 "Together they sought for wisdom
18:17 from the Source of light and knowledge.
18:20 Their faith was strong in the consciousness
18:22 that God had placed them where they were,
18:27 that they were doing His work
18:29 and meeting the demands of duty.
18:31 In times of perplexity and danger,
18:34 they had always turned to Him for guidance and protection,
18:38 and He had proved an ever-present help.
18:41 Now with contrition of heart,
18:44 they submitted themselves anew to the Judge of the earth,
18:48 pleading that He would grant them deliverance
18:53 in the time of special need."
18:57 Wow.
18:58 Notice that they humbled themselves
19:01 before God,
19:02 and recommitted their lives to total obedience.
19:07 God loves to help His people.
19:09 Our memory verse is a marvelous promise
19:12 about God's gift for each one of us.
19:15 Can you all turn to 1 Peter 5:6-7?
19:20 1 Peter is in the New Testament towards the back of the Bible.
19:24 Let's all read that.
19:25 We're ready.
19:27 Okay.
19:29 "Therefore, humble yourselves, under the mighty hand of God,
19:33 that He may exalt you in due time,
19:37 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."
19:42 Wow! That's beautiful, isn't it?
19:44 How loving, and caring, and powerful
19:47 is the God we serve.
19:49 One thing we have to remember
19:51 is that answered prayer is conditional.
19:53 Being willing to turn away from every known sin
19:56 is always a condition of answered prayer.
19:59 Proverbs 28:9 warns us
20:02 that if we continue in our disobedience,
20:04 God cannot answer our prayer,
20:06 so we need to obey God's commandments.
20:09 James 4:3 tells us of another condition.
20:13 It says, "We shouldn't just ask God favors
20:16 for selfish purposes."
20:18 Can you read James 4:3, Jireh?
20:24 "You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss,
20:27 and you may spend it on your pleasures."
20:31 So Daniel and his companions understood this.
20:35 They had already demonstrated their commitment
20:37 to following God
20:39 regardless of the peer pressures
20:41 of worldly customs and amusements.
20:44 Remember the issue over the diet,
20:46 they refused to eat or drink
20:49 anything that would dull their minds
20:51 or weaken their physical health.
20:53 They believe that everything God said mattered
20:56 and that they should take God's word seriously.
21:00 Do you think God heard
21:01 and answered their sincere prayer?
21:04 Let's see.
21:05 Caleb, please read Daniel 2:19?
21:09 "And the secret was revealed to Daniel in the night vision.
21:13 So Daniel blessed the God of heaven."
21:15 What's the first thing we should say to God
21:17 when He answers our prayer?
21:19 Thank you.
21:20 That's right.
21:22 We are supposed to thank Him,
21:23 and that's exactly what Daniel did.
21:26 His prayer was full of joyful praise
21:28 and gratitude.
21:30 God had just saved their lives.
21:32 Let's take a moment
21:33 to read part of Daniel's prayer.
21:35 It's good for us to keep Daniel's prayer
21:37 in the back of our minds when we pray.
21:40 Bryce, could you please read that in verse 20?
21:45 "Daniel answered and said:
21:49 'Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
21:52 therefore, for wisdom and might are His.' "
21:54 Hmm.
21:55 And, Chemiah, can you please read verse 21?
21:59 "And He changes the times and the seasons,
22:02 He removes kings and raises up kings,
22:05 He gives wisdom to the wise,
22:06 and knowledge to those who have understanding."
22:10 Amen.
22:12 So we see that the rulers of the earth may think
22:14 they are in control.
22:16 But they are really only in those positions
22:19 because God allows them the opportunity to rule.
22:23 How they use that opportunity is their choice.
22:26 They can use their power for good or for evil
22:30 as we discovered with the various kings
22:32 who ruled over Israel.
22:34 Well, immediately after his prayer of thanks,
22:37 Daniel hurried back to Arioch,
22:39 the man who the king had appointed
22:41 to destroy the wise men of Babylon.
22:43 Daniel gave Arioch the exciting news,
22:46 and Arioch quickly brought Daniel
22:48 before the king.
22:50 But we'll have to wait till next week
22:52 to find out what happened next.
22:55 So put a bookmark in your Bible,
22:56 in Daniel Chapter 2, ready for next week
22:59 when we solve the puzzle
23:00 of King Nebuchadnezzar's dream.
23:03 You can review his dream by getting our devotionals,
23:06 and here's how you can get access to those.
23:13 What do you want?
23:14 You bored?
23:16 Yes.
23:17 Look what I got.
23:20 Whoa!
23:22 Look at that! Cool.
23:24 Where did you get this?

23:30 Thanks Matthew and Caleigh.
23:32 Uncle, Daniel,
23:33 what are we going to learn about next week?
23:36 Some exciting things.
23:37 Next week, we will solve the puzzle
23:40 of King Nebuchadnezzar's dream.
23:43 It is one of the most amazing Bible stories.
23:46 So watch next week to find out why.
23:50 These prophecies actually fascinated me
23:52 ever since I was a child.
23:54 Aunty Leah, can we say our new memory verse?
23:56 Yes, we sure can.
23:58 And you can say it along with us at home,
23:59 the words are on your screen.
24:02 "Therefore, humble yourselves,
24:04 under the mighty hand of God,
24:07 that He may exalt you in due time,
24:10 casting all your care upon Him,
24:13 for He cares for you."
24:15 1 Peter 5:6-7.
24:19 Isn't it comforting to know
24:20 that God cares about us so much.
24:23 Jeremiah, what did you learn about the King this week?
24:27 That God hears and answers our prayers.
24:29 He sure does.
24:31 God never lets us down.
24:33 And God offers us the power to not let Him down either.
24:37 Well, time flies,
24:38 and we have to say goodbye till next Sabbath.
24:40 Ready everyone to sing our blessing song?
24:47 May God bless you and keep you
24:52 And fill your heart with love
24:57 May God guide and protect you
25:03 And watch you from above
25:08 And Sabbath after Sabbath
25:13 We greet the day of rest
25:18 The day the King of glory
25:23 Has sanctified and blessed
25:28 Goodbye, my friend till we meet again
25:34 For another day with the King
25:39 Goodbye! Happy Sabbath!
25:50 I know Jesus loves me because He first loved me.
25:59 I know Jesus loves me
26:01 because He's coming to take me home with Him.
26:09 I know Jesus loves me because He died for me.
