00:02 Hello there, happy Sabbath.
00:04 Come on in, we're about to meet with the king.
00:42 Hello, I'm Uncle Daniel
00:44 and we have another wonderful worship time
00:46 to enjoy together as we commence the Sabbath.
00:49 And hello to you Aunty Leah,
00:50 and to each girl and boy who has joined us.
00:53 Are we ready for another "Day with the King?"
00:56 Yes!
00:57 It's lovely to hear from you by email
00:59 from wherever you are watching.
01:01 If you want to say hello to us
01:03 and let us know a bit about yourself
01:04 or even send a photo
01:06 with your favorite friend or pet,
01:08 you can contact us at the address on your screen.
01:11 Uncle Daniel, I'd like to say hello to Joe in Albany,
01:15 down in the southern part of Western Australia.
01:17 Joe likes to watch "A Day with the King."
01:19 Hello Joe.
01:22 Before we start our worship time,
01:24 let's pray and ask God to be with us.
01:27 Alesha would you like to do that for us?
01:30 Sure.
01:32 Dear God, please bless us as we worship You
01:37 and be with those joining us from home,
01:40 in Jesus' name, amen.
01:44 Thanks, Alesha.
01:45 Aunty Leah, can you teach us more about prophecy?
01:48 Yes, I can.
01:49 We've been looking at the prophetic gift,
01:51 which is the ability to tell the future.
01:54 We've also learned that God speaks to us
01:56 through His servants, the prophets.
01:59 Sometimes the prophets gave direct messages
02:02 about what was going to happen.
02:03 For example, Noah spent 120 years
02:07 warning the people about a worldwide flood,
02:09 and that's exactly what happened.
02:12 Sometimes prophecies are conditional,
02:14 like Jonah and the whale.
02:17 Jonah prophesied to the Ninevites
02:18 that their city would be destroyed in 40 days,
02:22 if they do not repent and turn from their wicked ways.
02:25 But they did listened to Jonah,
02:27 and they did repent and obeyed God,
02:30 and so God did not destroy the city.
02:32 Some prophecies are giving using symbols.
02:35 Later in our Bible study,
02:36 we'll discover that King Nebuchadnezzar's dream
02:38 was actually a prophecy given in symbols.
02:42 What does God say about prophecies given in symbols?
02:45 Let's see what the Bible gem says in our jewel box.
02:48 Maybe it can shed some light for us.
02:50 Amber, would you like to get the jewel out of the jewel box.
02:56 Wow, what does that rivet represent?
02:58 Deuteronomy 29:29.
03:01 Tamia, would you like to read that for us.
03:03 "The secret things belong to the Lord our God,
03:06 but those things which are revealed belong to us
03:09 and to our children forever,
03:11 that we may do all the words of this law."
03:13 This text tells us that God means us,
03:16 to understand prophecy even if it is given in symbols.
03:20 Prophecy wouldn't be any use to us
03:22 if we couldn't understand it.
03:24 God has promised to reveal their meaning to us.
03:27 It'll strengthen our faith
03:28 and help us to trust and obey God,
03:31 but we need to prayerfully and diligently
03:33 search the scriptures.
03:35 Amber, what's the secret clue to understanding prophecy?
03:38 Can you please read that for us?
03:42 All the clues to understanding prophecy
03:44 are contained in the Bible.
03:46 That's good news.
03:47 We don't need to look anywhere else,
03:49 that's why we're having a Bible treasure hunt.
03:52 I can't wait to get into our Bible study today,
03:54 when we will solve
03:56 the mystery of the symbolic prophecy
03:57 that God gave to King Nebuchadnezzar.
04:00 So remember,
04:01 God intents that we should understand the prophecies
04:04 because they can guide the choices
04:05 we make in our lives day by day.
04:08 Thanks Aunty Leah, those pretty gems
04:10 does me remember of the Bible gems.
04:12 Hey, everybody, Braedan's back...
04:15 Hello, Braedan. Hi, Braedan.
04:17 Hi, everyone.
04:18 Are you ready to sing?
04:19 Yes!
04:21 Let's start with the Sabbath song,
04:22 "This is the day the Lord has made."
04:28 This is the day the Lord has made
04:33 He calls this day His own
04:37 Let us be glad, and welcome Him
04:42 This Sabbath to our home
04:46 Let us be glad and welcome Him
04:51 This Sabbath to our home
04:57 Braedan, can we sing "The kings dream?"
04:59 That's a great choice, let's sing it together.
05:06 God showed the king of Babylon
05:10 What was to happen when he'd gone
05:13 A mighty image of a man
05:17 Was used to show God's master plan
05:21 Golden head, the chest and arms of silver
05:25 Thighs and belly were all of brass
05:29 The legs were iron, the feet were too
05:32 Mixed in with miry clay
05:36 The head of gold was Babylon
05:40 The silver - Medo-Persia strong
05:43 Then Greece, the brass, would rule with might
05:48 Iron Rome, would nations, turn to flight
05:52 The iron and clay in the feet and toes
05:55 Would never mix together, God knows
06:01 A stone uncut by human hands
06:04 Would crush the image of a man
06:08 That is the kingdom of our Lord
06:12 Who'll reign on earth for evermore
06:17 Braedan, can we sing "I have the joy?"
06:19 Oh, that's such a good song,
06:21 it's one of my favorites, let's sing it together.
06:27 I have the joy, joy, joy, joy
06:30 Down in my heart Down in my heart
06:34 Down in my heart I have the joy, joy, joy, joy
06:38 Down in my heart Down in my heart to stay!
06:43 I have the peace that passes understanding
06:46 Down in my heart
06:48 Down in my heart Down in my heart!
06:51 I have the peace that passes understanding
06:53 Down in my heart
06:55 Down in my heart to stay!
07:01 Thanks for sharing those songs with us, Braedan.
07:04 And now we're going to listen to another story from Dr. John.
07:08 Hello, boys and girls.
07:09 It's Dr. John here.
07:11 Hello, boys and girls right around the world.
07:14 I brought something rather sad to show you today.
07:18 It's a sword.
07:20 This sword is about 400 years old.
07:25 And if you look along the top here,
07:28 it's got chinks on it
07:29 because it has been used in battle.
07:32 It has hurt people.
07:34 This sword is called Ascalon.
07:37 And you know the sad part about war and battles
07:41 is that people get hurt and people die.
07:43 And if this was run through you or you are shot,
07:47 and you're lying on the battlefield
07:49 and no one could rescue you,
07:51 you're in shock and you feel pain,
07:54 but you start to get thirsty.
07:56 And feeling thirsty is one of the most
07:59 basic feelings of all people.
08:03 And there was a young soldier, his name was Richard Kirkland.
08:09 And as you can see,
08:10 this picture was taken quite a while ago.
08:12 He was just a young man, 22 years of age.
08:18 Nobody thought much of him,
08:19 but he did something that resulted in him
08:23 having a memorial because after a long battle
08:27 that lasted all day and all night,
08:30 he was hiding behind the wall
08:34 and he could hear the cries of wounded soldiers in pain,
08:39 and they were all crying out for one thing.
08:43 Water. Water, exactly.
08:47 When you are dying of thirst, your last thought is for water.
08:53 And some of the soldiers were saying,
08:55 aha, they deserve that, let them suffer.
09:00 But Richard Kirkland said that was so sad.
09:04 So early in the morning he went to his General,
09:11 whose name was General Kershaw,
09:12 he knocked on the door and the guard said,
09:15 "What do you want soldier?"
09:17 I want to talk to General Kershaw.
09:20 General Kershaw was sitting at the table and he said,
09:22 "What do you want son?"
09:24 He said, "I want to take water to the soldiers who are hurt."
09:29 You put your head above that wall
09:32 and you'll get a bullet in the head,
09:35 they will shoot you.
09:38 "Sir, I cannot bear the sound of that suffering any longer,
09:42 please let me take some water."
09:44 And general Kershaw said, "Young man, you will die."
09:49 "Please, let me go" he said.
09:52 Okay, we'll have your funeral later.
09:57 And he went down the steps and he came back, he said,
10:00 I have a white hanky and if I hold that up,
10:05 it's a sign that I come in peace,
10:08 that I'm surrendering.
10:10 General Kershaw said,
10:12 "I'm sorry, we haven't surrendered,
10:15 you can't take a white hanky with you."
10:18 So he climbed over the wall, waiting to be shot.
10:22 And he went to the first soldier,
10:24 he gave him a drink of water, and then to another
10:28 and he spent all day going from soldier to soldier.
10:31 And all the enemy that had their riffles on,
10:35 they couldn't believe what he was doing.
10:40 And finally when he had given every soldier a drink.
10:46 He went back, he never had a bullet,
10:49 you know, unfortunately he was killed
10:53 by being brave in another battle,
10:55 but they made a statue to Richard Kirkland
11:01 because of his bravery.
11:04 And if you do something extremely brave,
11:08 extremely wonderful, they will make a statue of you.
11:12 I've never had a statue made of me,
11:15 but if you go to that battlefield today,
11:18 you'll see the statue to Richard Kirkland.
11:23 And in our study,
11:25 we get to study about a man who built a statue for himself.
11:31 He was a proud man,
11:32 he was different to Richard Kirkland.
11:35 But Richard Kirkland was the greatest of the great
11:39 because he was driven by love
11:43 and Jesus calls Himself the water of life.
11:48 And it is that water that when you get it,
11:50 you are so nourished.
11:51 Remember Richard Kirkland, thank you boys and girls.
11:57 It's Bible study time again.
11:59 Today we'll discover
12:00 the meaning of King Nebuchadnezzar's
12:02 mysterious dream.
12:03 Hope you left your bookmark in Daniel Chapter 2
12:06 from last week.
12:07 But first, Aunty Leah,
12:09 would you please ask God to be with us
12:11 as we study our Bible.
12:12 Sure.
12:14 Father in heaven,
12:16 thank You so much for the story of Daniel.
12:18 Please help us to understand
12:20 how we can better follow You by the things we read.
12:22 In Jesus' name, amen.
12:24 Amen.
12:26 Now Jireh, do you remember what we learnt last week?
12:30 The king had a dream and forgot it.
12:32 Yes, that's right.
12:33 And because none of his wise men
12:35 could tell him the dream,
12:37 he ordered that they all be killed,
12:40 including Daniel and his companions
12:43 but how did God help?
12:45 God told Daniel the dream.
12:46 Yes.
12:48 Our story finished last week with Daniel telling Arioch,
12:52 the captain of the king's guard
12:54 that he could tell the king his dream.
12:56 How exciting that must have been for everyone,
13:00 you know, "Yeah, he was saved."
13:01 Let's return to Daniel Chapter 2,
13:04 where Arioch quickly brought Daniel before the king.
13:07 Bethany, would you read Daniel 2:26,
13:09 which tell us the king's question to Daniel.
13:13 "The king answered and said to Daniel,
13:15 whose name was Belteshazzar,
13:17 'Are you able to make known to me
13:19 the dream which I have seen, and its interpretation?'"
13:23 Now do you think
13:24 the king might have been feeling skeptical
13:26 and suspicious of Daniel's claim?
13:29 I'm sure he was,
13:31 after all didn't the other wise men tell him differently.
13:34 Well, Daniel, started by agreeing with the king,
13:38 that the wise men, the astrologers,
13:40 the magicians, and the soothsayers
13:42 would not be able to tell him his dream.
13:45 But he went on to say something
13:47 that really gripped the kings' attention.
13:50 Jireh, can you please read that in verse 28?
13:53 "But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets,
13:57 and He has made known to the King Nebuchadnezzar
13:59 what will be in the latter days."
14:02 Um, see Daniel signaled to the king
14:05 that this was a dream of huge significance
14:08 of cosmic proportions,
14:10 right down to the last days of this world.
14:13 He also indicated
14:15 how privileged King Nebuchadnezzar was
14:17 that the God, the ruler of the whole universe
14:20 would select him to reveal His plans
14:23 for the future of this planet.
14:25 As for Daniel himself, verse 30 tells us,
14:28 he wanted to make sure
14:30 that the king clearly understood
14:32 that any wisdom he appeared to possess
14:34 was all a gift from God.
14:36 God was trying to reach King Nebuchadnezzar's
14:39 mind and heart through the humble Daniel.
14:41 Daniel then told him the dream.
14:44 Let's read Daniel Chapter 2 starting with Bryce.
14:48 Verse 31 please?
14:50 "You, O king, were watching, and behold, a great image!
14:53 This great image, whose splendor was excellent,
14:57 stood before you, and its form was awesome.
15:00 This image's head was of fine gold,
15:02 its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze,
15:07 its legs of iron, its feet partly
15:09 of iron and partly of clay."
15:11 Um, and verse 34,
15:14 can you please read that, Chemiah?
15:17 "You watched while a stone was cut out without hands,
15:22 which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay,
15:26 and broke them in pieces."
15:29 And verse 35, Chemiah,
15:34 "Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver,
15:37 and the gold were crushed together,
15:39 and became like chaff
15:41 from the summer threshing floors,
15:43 the wind carried them away
15:45 so that no trace of them was found.
15:48 And the stone that struck the image
15:50 became a great mountain and filled the whole earth."
15:53 What an unusual dream.
15:56 Nebuchadnezzar dreamed of a man
15:58 made up of these different kind of metals.
16:01 Let's have a look at an artist interpretation
16:03 of King Nebuchadnezzar's dream.
16:08 So, what was the head made off?
16:11 Gold.
16:12 What about the torso?
16:13 Silver.
16:15 And the thighs?
16:17 Brass.
16:18 Yeah, brass is a shiny metal
16:20 that is not nearly as valuable as silver or gold.
16:24 Now the legs, what were they made off?
16:26 Iron.
16:27 And the feet?
16:29 Half iron, half clay.
16:32 Is iron strong?
16:34 Yes! Yes!
16:35 Yeah.
16:36 Is clay as strong as iron?
16:38 No! No.
16:40 Finally we learn of a stone that grows.
16:44 Can stones grow?
16:45 No! No.
16:47 well, in dreams anything can happen.
16:51 In this dream the stone grew so big
16:54 that it filled the whole earth.
16:56 Now remember, Aunty Leah said,
16:57 messages were often given to prophets in symbols.
17:00 Pictures of things that represent something else.
17:03 Some important message
17:05 that God wants His people to understand.
17:08 Well, these metals and the stone
17:10 represent important events in earth's history.
17:13 Having confidently declared to the king, this is the dream,
17:17 Daniel then went on to explain the meaning of the dream.
17:21 Sai, please read verse 37?
17:25 "You, O king, are a king of kings.
17:28 For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom,
17:33 power, strength, and glory.
17:36 And verse 38 please, Aunty Leah?
17:40 "And wherever the children of men dwell,
17:42 or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven,
17:45 He has given them into your hand,
17:47 and has made you ruler over them all
17:50 and you are this head of gold."
17:53 Babylon was renowned for its gold.
17:56 It was everywhere.
17:58 Nothing has been seen like it since.
18:01 Let's continue with verse 39 and 40.
18:05 Thanks, Bethany.
18:06 "But after you shall arise
18:08 another kingdom inferior to yours,
18:11 and then another, a third kingdom of bronze,
18:13 which shall rule all over the earth.
18:16 And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron,
18:18 in as much as iron breaks in pieces
18:21 and shatters everything, and like iron that crushes,
18:24 that kingdom will break in pieces
18:26 and crush all the others."
18:28 This is a very powerful and very cruel kingdom
18:32 that's being described.
18:34 Let's read on with verse 41 and 42.
18:37 Thanks Jireh.
18:39 "Whereas you saw the feet and toes,
18:42 partly of potter's clay and partly of iron,
18:45 and kingdom shall be divided,
18:48 yet the strength of the iron shall be in it,
18:51 just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay.
18:55 And as the toes of the feet
18:58 were partly of iron and partly of clay,
19:00 so the kingdom shall be
19:02 partly strong and partly fragile."
19:04 Thank you.
19:05 And, Bryce, can you please also read verse 43?
19:09 "As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay,
19:12 they will mingle with the seeds of men,
19:14 but they will not adhere to one another,
19:17 just as iron does not mix with clay."
19:20 Logically, if you were making predictions
19:23 about four world powers in a row,
19:26 you might expect another world power to follow
19:29 because that's what happened every other time.
19:32 But no, something quite different
19:35 and unusual is predicted.
19:37 Daniel says that the fourth world power
19:40 will break up into many kingdoms,
19:42 10 major ones as it turns out just like the 10 toes.
19:46 We know from history that the world power
19:48 which followed Babylon was Medo-Persia,
19:52 then Greece conquered the world, followed by Rome.
19:55 Rome eventually broke up into 10 nations,
19:58 some strong and some weak
19:59 just like the iron and the clay.
20:01 These are the nations that became the Europe
20:04 we know it today.
20:06 Verse 43 says that
20:07 these nations tried various strategies
20:10 to unite and grow stronger,
20:12 like fighting and intermarrying,
20:14 but nothing has worked.
20:16 Chemiah, can you please read our torchlight
20:19 Mrs. White's writings in Royalty and Ruin, page 177.
20:29 "In history, the growth of nations,
20:32 the rise and fall of empires,
20:34 appear as if dependent on human will and ability.
20:40 But the Word of God draws the curtain aside,
20:43 and we see the agencies
20:48 of the all merciful One,
20:50 silently, patiently working
20:53 out the counsels of His own will."
20:55 Right.
20:57 So God is in control throughout human history,
21:00 no matter how it looks to us.
21:02 In verse 44, God promises to end all the fighting
21:05 and struggles for power and set up a perfect kingdom
21:09 that will stand forever.
21:11 That's a kingdom I want to be a part of, don't you?
21:15 Yeah. Yes.
21:17 Now, in verse 45,
21:19 Daniel tactfully reminds the king how privileged he is,
21:23 that the great God of heaven and earth
21:25 has made known to him the future of the world.
21:28 Then Daniel confidently adds,
21:30 the dream is certain and its interpretation is sure.
21:35 Verse 46 and 47 tells us
21:37 that King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face
21:39 before Daniel and said,
21:41 "Truly your God is the God of the gods,
21:43 the Lord of kings and a revealer of secrets,
21:46 since you could reveal this secret.
21:48 So, Daniel got it right because God revealed it to him.
21:53 Let's go over our memory verse,
21:55 and read the last part of 1 Samuel 2:30 together.
22:01 Are we ready?
22:02 "Those who honor Me, I will honor."
22:06 And God certainly did honored Daniel
22:08 and his three companions.
22:09 The kings' wise men's lives were saved.
22:12 And verse 48 says,
22:14 he gave Daniel many great gifts
22:16 and made him rule
22:18 over the whole province of Babylon.
22:20 He also made Daniel the boss
22:23 over all the wise men of Babylon.
22:25 Daniel's three friends were promoted too.
22:27 Their years of diligent study
22:29 and faithfulness in following God
22:31 had prepared them to be shining lights for Gods' truth
22:34 in that mighty nation that ruled the world.
22:37 And best of all, God offers us the same power that He gave
22:41 to Daniel and his companions,
22:43 so we too can be shining lights for Him.
22:46 Pictures always help us
22:48 when we're learning something new.
22:49 So why don't you get our devotional for today
22:52 and review the pictures and their meaning.
22:54 Listen to Matthew and Caleigh.
23:01 What do you want?
23:02 You bored?
23:04 Yes.
23:05 Look what I got.
23:08 Whoa!
23:10 Look at that. Cool.
23:12 Where did you get these?
23:14 adaywiththeking.com.
23:17 Thanks Matthew and Caleigh.
23:19 Uncle Daniel what are we going to learn about next week?
23:23 Next week we have a gripping story
23:25 about a life threatening test that confronted
23:28 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
23:31 and how they honored God at the risk of their own lives.
23:35 I'm looking forward to hearing about that.
23:38 Let's practice the memory verse.
23:40 "Those who honor me, I will honor."
23:44 1 Samuel 2:30.
23:47 You know, I found this promise
23:49 to be true in my life so many times.
23:51 God is so faithful.
23:53 He keeps every promise.
23:55 Bethany, what did you learn about the king today?
23:57 If we study the Bible,
23:59 we can find out the truth for ourselves.
24:02 Yes, but we may need to dig deep
24:04 and always ask the Holy Spirit to give us understanding.
24:08 Uncle Daniel, it's time to finish
24:11 with our blessing song.
24:19 May God bless you and keep you
24:24 And fill your heart with love
24:29 May God guide and protect you
24:34 And watch you from above
24:39 And Sabbath after Sabbath
24:45 We greet the day of rest
24:50 The day the king of glory
24:55 Has sanctified and blessed
25:00 Goodbye my friend till we meet again
25:05 For another day with the king
25:10 Goodbye.
25:12 Happy Sabbath.
25:21 I know Jesus loves me because He's blessed me
25:24 with amazing family and friends.
25:30 I know Jesus loves me
25:32 because He keeps me safe from day to day.
25:40 I know Jesus loves me because He gave me animals.
