00:02 Hello there, happy Sabbath.
00:04 Come on in, we're about to meet with the king. 00:42 Hello, I'm Aunty Leah. 00:44 And we're looking forward to another Sabbath 00:46 where we can put aside all our work and play 00:48 and spend special time with Jesus. 00:50 Thank you so much for joining us at home. 00:53 We love to have your company, 00:54 and it's always good 00:56 to have you here with us, Uncle Daniel, 00:57 as well as each of our boys and girls who worship with us. 01:00 Thank you, Aunty Leah. 01:02 It's always wonderful to be here in 01:03 and share our worship time together. 01:06 Now, I'm just wondering, 01:08 does anyone have a blessing 01:10 that they would like to share with us? 01:11 I have. 01:13 Thank you, Jireh. What is it? 01:14 Well, my friend recently started coming to church 01:17 and her parents aren't Christians. 01:19 Wow, that's incredible. Praise God for that. 01:23 Before we begin our worship time, 01:25 who wants to invite the Holy Spirit to guide us? 01:28 I will. Thanks, Jireh. 01:30 Dear Lord, 01:31 thank You for keeping us safe during the week. 01:34 Please send Your Holy Spirit to guide us 01:35 during our worship time, in Jesus' name, amen. 01:40 Thanks, Jireh. 01:41 We had quite an adventure 01:43 finding out all about King Nebuchadnezzar's dream 01:46 in last week's Bible study, didn't we? 01:49 I love the Book of Daniel, it's an exciting treasure hunt. 01:53 The great thing about the mysterious dream 01:55 in Daniel Chapter 2 01:57 is that God told Daniel what the dream meant. 02:00 So it's easy for us 02:02 to solve the puzzle of the symbols used. 02:05 Let's find a Bible gem that explains 02:07 why Daniel was able to reveal the prophecy 02:10 and its interpretation to King Nebuchadnezzar. 02:13 Janina, would you like to open our jewel box 02:16 and get our Bible gemstone. 02:21 Wow, isn't that pretty. 02:23 What does that gemstone represent? 02:29 2 Peter 2:21. 02:32 Sai, would you like to read that? 02:36 "For prophecy never came by the will of man, 02:40 but holy men of God 02:41 spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." 02:45 Thanks, Sai. 02:46 This Bible gem reveals 02:48 that every word written by the prophets 02:51 was inspired by God. 02:53 We know Daniel's prophetic interpretation 02:55 of the king's dream was inspired by God 02:58 because over two and a half thousand years of history 03:01 has proven Daniel's prophetic interpretation 03:04 to be correct in every single detail. 03:07 Only God could predict that far ahead accurately. 03:11 Do you remember what the head was made of? 03:13 Gold. 03:14 What kingdom had gold everywhere? 03:17 Babylon. 03:18 And what were the chest and arms made of? 03:20 Silver. 03:22 That represented the Medo-Persian kingdom. 03:24 What were the belly and thighs made of? 03:26 Bronze. 03:28 Who were known for the bronze armor 03:30 on their soldiers? 03:31 Greeks. 03:33 That's it. 03:34 Now the strong legs of iron, who were they? 03:36 The Romans. Yes. 03:38 And finally, 03:40 the feet mixed with iron and clay 03:41 represented the nations 03:43 that now represent modern Europe. 03:45 Then, this symbolic man 03:47 was destroyed by stone cut out without hands. 03:50 Who did the stone represent? 03:52 Jesus. 03:54 Yes, Jesus, that's it. 03:55 He's going to put an end to all the fighting, 03:58 destruction and struggle for power 04:00 and set up his everlasting kingdom of love. 04:03 And He wants to us to share that kingdom with Him. 04:06 In our Bible study today, 04:08 we'll discover that King Nebuchadnezzar 04:10 didn't like the idea 04:11 of someone taking over his kingdom, 04:13 so he tried to defy God. 04:16 But God is always in control. 04:18 What is our hidden message, Janina? 04:24 "Fulfilled prophecies 04:25 prove that God's promises always come true." 04:29 Thanks, Janina. 04:30 That's so good news for us, 04:32 especially when we are going through some hard times 04:35 and we're struggling, 04:36 and things seem beyond our control. 04:39 Let's remember, 04:40 we can always trust God's promises 04:42 to help deliver us out of difficulties 04:45 as we'll learn later. 04:47 Thank you, Aunty Leah. 04:48 Knowing what is going to happen in the future 04:50 helps us to get ready for Jesus' soon return. 04:54 Uncle Daniel, Braedan is here. 04:57 So he is. 04:58 Welcome, Braedan, 04:59 it's always good to have you here with us. 05:01 Hi, thanks, Uncle Daniel. 05:02 Guys, it's really good to be back with you guys again. 05:04 Does anyone know this song, 05:06 "Anywhere with Jesus." Yes. 05:08 You all know it? You know it. 05:09 You're about to learn in your upcoming Bible study 05:12 that it's always safe to be with Jesus. 05:14 Let's sing this song together. 05:17 Anywhere with Jesus I can safely go 05:21 Anywhere He leads me in this world below 05:25 Anywhere without Him Dearest joys would fade 05:30 Anywhere with Jesus I am not afraid 05:34 Anywhere, anywhere Fear I cannot know 05:38 Anywhere with Jesus I can safely go 05:44 Braedan, can we please sing the King has a treasure house? 05:47 We can and this is actually one of my favorite songs. 05:54 The King has a treasure house of promises 05:58 Gifts from heaven above 06:02 In His world are many, many promises 06:06 Offered us in love 06:10 God gives us courage to repent 06:14 And turn away from every sin 06:18 He gives us wisdom faith and trust 06:22 And power to follow Him 06:26 The King has a treasure house of promises 06:30 Promises for you and me 06:34 In His word are many, many promises 06:38 To give us the victory 06:41 To give us the victory 06:44 Victory! 06:46 Braedan, can we please sing the seventh 06:49 is the Sabbath of the Lord. 06:51 That's a really big name for a song, isn't it? 06:52 Let's sing it together. 06:58 One, two, three, four, five, six days a week 07:02 God gave to us for work and play 07:06 One, two, three, four, five, six days He made 07:10 Then rested on the seventh day 07:14 God invites us all to join Him On the seventh day of rest 07:18 For He called that day the Sabbath 07:20 And He promised we'd be blessed 07:23 One, two, three, four, five, six days for us 07:27 The seventh is the Sabbath of the Lord Amen! 07:32 Thanks for singing with us, Braedan. 07:34 It's story time again, we talk to John. 07:37 Hello, boys and girls, I am Dr. John, 07:39 and it's so wonderful to see your happy faces. 07:43 And I'm looking at the boys and girls 07:45 right around the world, 07:47 and I'm glad that you're with us too. 07:50 I will tell you about Dr. Harry and his seasickness. 07:54 He lived in America, 07:56 and he decided to go to China as a missionary. 08:00 He'd never been on a boat before 08:02 and he got so seasick. 08:06 He did nothing but vomit for three weeks. 08:10 And when he got to Japan, he was so weak, 08:13 and he went to a cook and he said, 08:16 "I've got just a thing for you." 08:19 And he got out this strange looking stuff 08:23 that Dr. Miller had never seen before. 08:27 You know what that's called? 08:29 Tofu. 08:31 And it doesn't taste much by itself 08:33 but if you fry it and put vegetables with it, 08:37 it is very nice he said. 08:39 How did you make that? 08:41 Oh, that's made from the soya bean. 08:46 Really! 08:48 It's very good. 08:49 And so he went to China 08:51 and he never forgot the soya bean and the tofu. 08:55 And when he got to China as doctor, 08:58 he saw the saddest sight, 08:59 he saw little babies dying all the time 09:03 because they were orphans 09:04 and they didn't have mother's milk. 09:09 He decided, 09:10 I need to invent something and somebody said, 09:13 "You can actually make milk from soya beans." 09:17 Really! 09:19 So he got some and he boiled them up 09:21 and he strained it up 09:23 but, you know, soya bean has a very bitter taste 09:27 and it took him a long, long time 09:29 until he found a way of doing without boiling, 09:34 but using steam. 09:36 And you know, 09:38 Dr. Miller came to my house, when I was little. 09:42 That's what he looked like when he went to China. 09:45 And he thought, I need to look like a Chinese. 09:48 And all the Chinese men, 09:50 you can't see it there that they had pigtails, 09:53 they call them a queue. 09:55 And he thought, I better have one. 09:58 That's gonna take a long, long time 10:00 so he got some hair, 10:02 he said to his wife, sew it to the back of my hat, 10:06 I'll put it on 10:08 and I will look just like a Chinese man with my queue. 10:14 And he wore that for a little while until one day 10:18 the dreadful accident happened. 10:20 He went in front of a very important Chinese, 10:25 and the Chinese was impressed 10:27 that Dr. Miller was wearing a queue, 10:30 and as Dr. Miller walked in, 10:33 the door slammed 10:36 and he kept walking, 10:38 and everybody laughed at him. 10:43 He didn't have a queue. 10:46 And so after that, 10:48 he decided that he would grow his own hair 10:53 and when he went back to America many years later, 10:57 they were so amazed at his long hair 11:00 except he used to have to curl it up inside his hat 11:04 and wear it like that so they wouldn't laugh at him. 11:07 But, you know, he came to my house 11:10 and he borrowed my mother's sewing machine 11:14 and he made up a bag, 11:17 and he put soya beans in it 11:18 and he steamed them and then he said, 11:20 "I want your washing machine." 11:23 Oh, no, let me do the washing for you. 11:26 No, no, no, he put the soya beans in 11:29 and he spun that and out it came 11:32 and it was beautiful milk, 11:35 and I've got here 11:38 a glass of soy milk 11:43 invented by Dr. Harry Miller. 11:45 He saved so many lives. 11:48 He said, "People will be good 11:50 if they eat the right food." 11:53 And in the Bible, 11:55 there were these four young men 11:56 who said they would not eat 11:59 the filthy food of the Babylonians. 12:01 They used to have whole dishes of humming bird tongues, 12:04 and goats, and pigs, and birds 12:07 and they said we will eat healthy, 12:10 just like Dr. Miller did so many years later. 12:14 And the world owes Dr. Miller a big debt. 12:17 He saved the lives of millions of babies 12:21 because he invented soy milk. 12:23 Thank you, boys and girls. 12:26 Welcome to our Bible study time, 12:28 isn't it exciting to learn about 12:29 amazing people like Daniel? 12:31 I hope you're ready to read along 12:33 as we set off on our next adventure. 12:36 Bethany, would you please say a prayer for us to begin? 12:40 Dear Father, 12:42 thank You for all the stories in the Bible. 12:44 Please help us to learn from them, 12:45 and please bless the children who are joining us. 12:48 In Jesus' name, amen. 12:50 Thanks, Bethany. 12:51 Our story today begins in Daniel 3. 12:54 King Nebuchadnezzar, the most powerful king on earth 12:57 gets to thinking about Daniel's interpretation of his dream. 13:01 He is not fussed on the idea 13:02 that anyone should take over his kingdom, 13:05 not ever. 13:07 So he tries to assert his iron authority 13:10 above God's authority. 13:12 Bethany, could you please read verse 1 of Daniel Chapter 3. 13:17 "Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, 13:20 whose height was sixty cubits and its width six cubits. 13:24 He set it up in the plain of Dura, 13:26 in the province of Babylon." 13:27 In our measurements, 13:29 this golden statue was gigantic and unbelievably expensive. 13:34 It stood about 30 meters tall, 13:37 as tall as a 10 storey building and 3 meters wide. 13:41 That's nearly a 100 feet tall and 10 feet wide, 13:44 on top of a pedestal base 13:46 it could be seen for kilometers or miles around. 13:51 The image of gold from the head right down to the feet and toes 13:55 was designed to send a clear message 13:58 that King Nebuchadnezzar was the greatest. 14:00 He wanted his kingdom to rule forever 14:03 and just to reinforce his message, 14:05 he ordered all the princes and important people 14:08 throughout the lands he controlled, 14:10 to come and worship the golden image. 14:12 When the large throng 14:14 was gathered on the Plain of Dura, 14:16 a herald announced the king's command 14:18 to bow down and worship the gold image. 14:21 And if anyone refused to obey the kings command, 14:25 what would happen to them? 14:27 Well Caleb, could you please read verse 6? 14:33 "And whoever does not fall down and worship 14:37 shall be cast immediately into the midst 14:39 of a burning fiery furnace." 14:42 Does that sound like forced worship to you? 14:45 Yes! 14:46 Yes, I think so. 14:48 Verse 7 tells us that the sound of the horn, 14:51 flute, harp and lyre with all kinds of music 14:55 all the people, nations and languages fell down 14:59 and worshiped King Nebuchadnezzar's golden image. 15:02 That is everyone 15:04 except Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 15:08 Now some of the Chaldeans, 15:09 the so-called wise men 15:11 were jealous of the ruling positions 15:13 given to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 15:16 They thought this was the perfect opportunity 15:19 to get rid of them, 15:20 so they dobbed them into the king 15:22 for not bowing down to the golden image. 15:25 How's that for gratitude? 15:27 These were the men whose lives Daniel 15:29 saved by telling the king about the dream. 15:32 Anyway, 15:33 what did the Chaldeans tell the king 15:35 about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego? 15:38 Jireh would you please read verse 12? 15:43 "These men, O king, 15:45 have not paid due regard to you. 15:47 They do not serve your gods or worship the golden image 15:50 which you have set up." 15:52 Yes, King Nebuchadnezzar was furious. 15:56 He could hardly believe anyone would defy his orders, 15:59 let alone Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 16:02 These men had proven to be reliable and trustworthy 16:06 in overseeing the affairs of Babylon, 16:09 so the king commanded that they be brought to him 16:11 and he offered them a second chance 16:14 but with a warning. 16:16 Chemiah, could you please read the last half of verse 15? 16:21 "But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately 16:26 into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. 16:29 And who is the god 16:30 who will deliver you from my hands?" 16:33 With those last words, 16:35 King Nebuchadnezzar invited a cosmic showdown. 16:39 The issue was over forced worship 16:42 and false worship, 16:44 neither of which God approves. 16:46 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego 16:49 let the king know 16:50 that they were not obliged to defend their actions. 16:54 The king was already well aware of the powerful God 16:57 these men served. 16:58 They went on to say these words in verse 17 and 18. 17:02 Thanks, Jeremiah. 17:04 "If that is the case, 17:06 our God whom we serve is able to deliver us 17:10 from the burning fiery furnace, 17:12 and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 17:15 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, 17:18 that we do not serve your gods, 17:20 nor will we worship the gold image 17:23 which you have set up." 17:25 Well, they couldn't have made it any clearer than that, 17:28 could they? 17:30 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego 17:32 resolved to worship 17:33 the true living God and Him only. 17:37 They would have been aware of God's promises 17:39 to his faithful servants in Isaiah 43:2. 17:44 Let's read the last part together 17:46 as our memory verse. 17:49 Okay, let's read it. 17:51 "When you walk through the fire, 17:54 you shall not be burned, 17:56 nor shall the flame scorch you." 18:00 Amen. 18:01 This promise must have given them courage 18:04 to stand true for God, 18:07 but they were also prepared to give up their lives 18:10 rather than dishonor God. 18:12 If God's plan did not include delivering them from the fire. 18:17 Nebuchadnezzar had no power to convince 18:19 or force these God fearing young man 18:21 to worship his golden image. 18:24 When he couldn't get his own way, 18:26 he flew into a rage as verse 19 reveals. 18:31 Sai, could you please read that for us? 18:36 "He spoke and commanded 18:38 that they heat the furnace 18:40 seven times more than it was usually heated." 18:44 Nebuchadnezzar's mighty men of valor 18:47 bound up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego 18:50 with ropes and threw them into the fire. 18:54 Verse 23 says, "They fell down helpless 18:57 still bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace, 19:01 but the fire was so hot 19:04 that the soldiers who threw them in, 19:06 they died instantly." 19:08 Then what happened? 19:10 Aunty Leah, could you read verse 24? 19:13 "Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished 19:16 and he rose in haste and spoke, 19:19 saying to his counselors, 19:20 'Did we not cast three men 19:22 bound into the midst of the fire?' 19:25 They answered and said to the king, 19:27 'True, O king.'" 19:28 Now here comes the amazing part, 19:31 what did the king see? 19:33 Bethany, can you read that in verse 25? 19:37 "Look he answered, I see four men loose, 19:40 walking in the midst of the fire 19:42 and they are not hurt, 19:44 and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." 19:47 Notice the ropes that bound the men 19:48 had burnt off 19:50 and they were moving around freely in the flames. 19:53 Aunty Leah, you have a picture to show us this. 19:58 Who do you think the man in the middle is? 20:02 Jesus! Jesus. 20:04 Yes, then the king called to them and said, 20:08 "Servants of the most high God, come out and come here." 20:13 So they walked out from the midst of the fire. 20:15 Verse 27 tells us the satraps, administrators, governors, 20:20 and the king's counselors gathered together 20:22 and were watching all of this, 20:24 what did they notice? 20:26 Caleb, can you please read verse 27? 20:30 "And they saw these men on whose bodies 20:34 the fire had no power, 20:36 the hair of their heads were not singed 20:41 nor were their garments affected, 20:44 and the smell of fire was not on them." 20:48 That's amazing, 20:49 have you ever been near a camp fire? 20:51 Your cloths smell of smoke when you're close, right? 20:55 Well, let's see what our torchlight, 20:57 Mrs. White's writing says about Shadrach, Meshach, 21:00 and Abednego in Prophets and Kings, page 511. 21:04 Jireh, would you please read that for us? 21:11 "And in a marvelous manner their faith in the living Word 21:16 had been honored in the sight of all. 21:19 The tidings of their wonderful deliverance 21:21 were carried to many countries 21:23 by the representatives of the different nations 21:29 that had been invited by Nebuchadnezzar 21:33 to the dedication. 21:36 Through the faithfulness of his children, 21:39 God was glorified in all the earth." 21:42 Thank you. 21:43 What an outstanding witness these men were for God. 21:47 Not even a whiff of smoke 21:48 could be smelt on their clothes. 21:50 Now, Nebuchadnezzar 21:52 changed his attitude completely. 21:54 Chemiah, can you please read verse 28? 21:59 "Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, 22:02 'Blessed be the God of Shadrach, 22:04 Meshach, and Abednego, 22:05 who sent His angel and delivered His servants 22:10 who trusted in Him, 22:11 and they have frustrated the king's word, 22:16 and yielded their bodies, 22:17 that they should not serve 22:19 nor worship any god except their own God.'" 22:22 Yes, then what did King Nebuchadnezzar do? 22:26 Jeremiah, 22:28 would you please read verse 29? 22:32 "Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, 22:36 or language which speaks anything amiss 22:39 against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego 22:42 shall be cut in pieces, 22:44 and their houses shall be made an ash heap, 22:48 because there is no other God who can deliver like this." 22:52 Nebuchadnezzar changed his mind about God, 22:55 but he still had a few things to learn. 22:58 God never forces worship, 23:00 not even to Himself as the true God. 23:03 He is a God of love, 23:04 He has given us complete freedom 23:06 to choose or reject Him, 23:08 but who wouldn't want to be on God's side. 23:10 He is such a wonderful, caring God, 23:13 who hears and answers our prayers 23:15 and our pleas for help. 23:17 As for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, 23:19 the king honored their stand for God 23:22 by giving them an even higher promotion in Babylon. 23:25 Well, we hope you enjoyed reading along with us. 23:29 Matthew and Caleigh 23:30 will tell you how to get the daily devotionals 23:33 that go along with the story. 23:35 Got a pen and paper ready to take down the details? 23:42 What do you want? 23:44 You bored? 23:45 Yes. 23:46 Look what I got. 23:50 Whoa! 23:51 Look at that. Cool. 23:53 Where did you get these? 23:56 adaywiththeking.com. 23:59 Thanks, Matthew and Caleigh. 24:01 Uncle Daniel, what are we learning about next week? 24:03 Well, next week, we gonna learn about a very strange 24:06 but true story 24:08 where King Nebuchadnezzar forgot about God 24:11 and he became very proud and boastful. 24:14 We have to wait until next week? 24:16 Yes, we do. 24:18 Aunty Leah, can we review our memory verse? 24:21 That's a great idea, Sai. 24:23 You can learn it too, 24:24 just follow the words on your screen 24:25 as we say it once more. 24:27 "When you walk through the fire, 24:30 you shall not be burned, 24:32 nor shall the flame scorch you." 24:35 Isaiah 43:2. 24:38 God is always there to protect us from harm, 24:41 even when things look pretty scary. 24:44 Jeremiah, 24:45 what did you learn about the King this week? 24:47 That Jesus is always with us, 24:49 even when we can't see Him. 24:52 He sure is. 24:53 He hears us when we talk to Him, 24:55 and if we listen very carefully, 24:58 His voice is guiding us through our conscience 25:01 and through His Word, the Bible. 25:04 Aunty Leah, 25:06 is it time for our blessing song? 25:08 Yes, it is Janina. 25:10 Are you guys ready to sing it? 25:11 Yes. 25:17 May God bless you and give you 25:22 And fill your heart with love 25:27 May God guide and protect you 25:32 And watch you from above 25:38 And Sabbath after Sabbath 25:43 We greet the day of rest 25:48 The day that King of glory 25:53 Has sanctified and blessed 25:58 Goodbye my friend till we meet again 26:03 For another Day with the King 26:09 Goodbye. 26:10 Happy Sabbath. 26:20 I know Jesus loves me because He first loved me. 26:30 I know Jesus loves me 26:31 because He's coming to take me home with Him. 26:39 I know Jesus loves me because He died for me. |
