00:02 Hello there, happy Sabbath.
00:04 Come on in, 00:06 we're about to meet with the king. 00:43 Hello, I'm Uncle Daniel, 00:45 and we're so happy, you can join us 00:47 in our opening Sabbath worship time 00:49 and welcome to you Aunty Leah, 00:50 and to all of you boys and girls, 00:52 it's so great to have you all here 00:54 to help us open the Sabbath together. 00:56 Hello, Uncle Daniel, 00:58 I think Caleb has someone he wants to say hello to too. 01:00 Who is that? My grandma. 01:03 Hello, grandma. 01:05 Where does your grandma live? 01:06 She lives in South Korea. 01:08 We're glad to know that moms and dads, 01:10 and grandmas and granddads, watch A Day with the King. 01:14 When Dr. John travels around the world, 01:16 people of all ages 01:17 tell him that they have learned so much from his stories. 01:20 Before we commence our worship time, 01:23 Bethany, would you please say a prayer for us? 01:26 Yeah. 01:28 Dear God, thank You for Jesus, 01:30 please teach us about Your love this Sabbath. 01:33 In Jesus' name, amen. 01:35 Amen. 01:36 Thank you, Bethany. 01:37 Aunty Leah, 01:39 what clue to understanding prophecy 01:41 do you have for us today? 01:43 Well, we've been learning 01:44 that there are different kinds of prophecy. 01:46 What was the prophecy given to Nebuchadnezzar's dream? 01:49 Symbolic. 01:51 Yes, Daniel had to interpret the meaning 01:53 of the dream. 01:55 And who did he get that from? 01:56 God. 01:58 Yes, there are lots of symbols 02:00 used in the prophetic books of Daniel and Revelation. 02:03 Sometimes we have to dig deep in the Bible 02:05 to discover the meaning of these symbols. 02:07 Alesha, would you like to open our jewel box 02:10 so we can understand 02:11 what clue is to understanding prophecy? 02:17 Wow! That's pretty. 02:18 What does that say? 02:19 Numbers 14:34. 02:22 All right, Bailey, would you like 02:23 to read that for us? 02:25 "According to the number of the days 02:28 in which you spied out the land, 02:32 forty days, for each day 02:35 you shall bear 02:37 your guilt one year, 02:42 namely forty years, 02:45 and you shall know My rejection." 02:48 Do you remember the story of the Israelite spies? 02:51 He spied out the Land of Canaan. 02:54 They saw how good it was, 02:55 but they brought back a discouraging report. 02:58 Because of their lack of faith, 03:00 God send them the message that we have just read. 03:03 God said that for each day they were spying in the land, 03:06 they would have to wander in the wilderness 03:08 one more year. 03:11 The spies searched out the land for 40 days, 03:13 so how many years does the text say 03:16 they had to wander for? 03:17 Forty. 03:19 Yes, and that's exactly what happened. 03:21 So one day in prophecy equals one year in real time. 03:25 Later in our Bible study 03:27 we will need to use this prophetic day 03:29 for a year rule 03:31 in order to understand today's story. 03:33 Let's have some practice? 03:35 What does one day in prophecy represent in real time? 03:38 One year. 03:40 So how many would two prophetic days be? 03:42 Two years. 03:44 And how long would three prophetic days be? 03:46 Three years. 03:48 And how long would seven prophetic days be? 03:50 Seven years. 03:52 Good, there's another word used in the Bible 03:55 to describe a year. 03:56 Alesha, would you like to get that out of our box 03:58 and tell us what it says? 04:04 Time. 04:06 We know it by comparing Daniel 7:25 04:09 with Revelation 12:6 that time means one year 04:14 and times refers to two years, 04:17 three times refers to three years. 04:20 Do you want to guess how many seven times means? 04:23 Seven years. 04:24 Excellent. 04:26 So remember, a day in prophecy represents a year. 04:29 Prophecy may seem mysterious 04:31 to those who don't study the Bible, 04:33 but God has revealed the secrets of prophecy 04:36 including the meaning of prophetic time. 04:39 Thanks, Aunty Leah. 04:40 Now it's time for Braedan, 04:42 but we don't have to wait it a whole year to see him. 04:47 He's here right now. 04:48 Good to have you with us again, Braedan. 04:51 Well, Uncle Daniel, it's good to be back with you all. 04:53 Let's start with the Sabbath song 04:55 called "Remember the Sabbath." 05:02 Looking forward, looking back 05:03 We're going to keep on track 05:06 Looking forward, looking back 05:08 We're gonna keep on track 05:10 Looking forward to salvation 05:12 Looking back on God's creation 05:15 We'll remember we're to keep 05:17 God's Sabbath holy 05:21 Looking forward, looking back 05:23 We're gonna keep on track 05:25 Looking forward, looking back 05:27 We're gonna keep on track 05:29 Looking forward to salvation 05:32 Looking back on God's creation 05:34 We will worship our Redeemer every Sabbath. 05:41 Braedan, can we please sing "God is my best friend." 05:45 Absolutely, we can, I really, really love this song. 05:48 Let's sing it together. 05:53 My very best friend is God on high 05:56 He never lets me down 06:00 God gives me all I need and more 06:03 His blessings all abound 06:07 God of mercy, God of love, 06:10 God of earth and heav'n above 06:14 He is so good to me 06:17 God is my best Friend 06:22 I trust in Him who made our world 06:25 With beauty and with order 06:29 He listens when I talk to him 06:32 I'm like His son or daughter 06:36 God is faithful, God is true 06:39 He'll deliver me and you 06:43 He is so good to me 06:46 God is my best Friend 06:51 Braedan, can we please sing "By My Spirit." 06:53 We certainly can, 06:55 and this song is based on a verse 06:56 we're about to look at in our Bible study. 06:58 Let's sing it together. 07:03 Not by might, no, not by power 07:07 But by My Spirit says the Lord to me 07:12 Not by might, no, not by power 07:16 But by My Spirit you'll have victory 07:22 Thanks, Braedan, I like singing Bible songs. 07:25 I think Dr. John has a story for us now. 07:29 Hello, boys and girls, I'm Dr. John and welcome back, 07:32 and welcome to all the boys and girls 07:34 around the world who are watching. 07:37 A little girl, called Yang Yun 07:42 she had to be Chinese. 07:44 She lived in China, and she grew, 07:48 she learned to swim and she loved animals, 07:52 and she wanted to have a job, 07:54 where she could swim and swim with animals. 07:57 And she heard that there was a job 08:01 at the animal park, 08:04 and she went and applied. 08:06 And they said, "Well, you're pretty small 08:09 and you got to swim in cold water 08:12 and you are swimming with whales." 08:16 Hmm, but we have to give you a test, 08:20 and the test is you gonna get into a tank of cold water, 08:26 and you got to go right to the bottom 08:29 above five or six meters 08:32 and you must stay there and hold your breath 08:35 and the whale will be there. 08:37 We don't think it's going to hurt you. 08:40 Are you prepared to do that? 08:43 Yes, well, the problem was she lived in the town of Harbin 08:49 in Northern China 08:50 and it is one of the coldest places 08:54 in the whole world 08:56 and this is the weather 08:57 as we look at it in Harbin, it is what? 09:01 You tell me. Minus 31 degrees. 09:02 Minus 31 degrees, 09:05 and she has to swim in the tank. 09:08 She jumped in took a deep breath 09:11 and she went down, and down, and down, and down, and down 09:16 until her feet touched the bottom 09:19 and swimming around her was a whale 09:23 and its name was Mila. 09:27 She was watching Mila and Mila was watching her, 09:32 and then she said, "I got to go to the top? 09:34 I got to breathe?" 09:35 And as she tried to push up, 09:41 the cold was so great, 09:44 she got cramps in her legs 09:46 and she couldn't swim 09:49 and she thought, I'll be drowned. 09:52 I'm not gonna drown with a whale 09:55 and just as she was going unconscious, 09:59 she felt the whale's jaw come around her legs 10:05 and she thought I'm gonna die of drowning, 10:08 I'm gonna die of cold 10:10 and I'm gonna die inside a whale. 10:13 Now whales have very big teeth, 10:18 you wouldn't want that to bite you, 10:20 that is a whale's tooth 10:22 and they are very, very strong, 10:24 you know, and as it took her, 10:27 it held it gently and it pushed her 10:31 all the way to the top. 10:34 Well, that's what it sort of look like 10:37 and the whale, it was called a beluga whale 10:43 and that is a picture of Mila. 10:47 You know, something about this whale. 10:50 It is the only creature in the world 10:53 that God has made with muscles to smile. 10:58 I know dogs can look as though they're smiling, 11:00 but they haven't got the muscles 11:02 that the beluga whale is actually quite gentle. 11:06 And, you know, it pushed her all the way to the top 11:11 holding her in his mouth 11:15 and she was almost unconscious as she came to the surface, 11:20 took a deep breath and they pulled her out. 11:25 After she recovered they said, "You have got the job, 11:31 because you were brave 11:32 and you have entered the cold water." 11:34 You know, in our Bible study 11:36 that you will be studying later, 11:39 Daniel will be in a den of lions 11:41 and God closed their mouths. 11:44 God even uses wild animals to protect us. 11:49 I heard of a man once who decided to be Daniel, 11:52 and he climbed into the lion's den 11:55 and he didn't have these angels with him 11:58 and the lions had an early lunch. 12:02 But God used a lion to save Daniel, 12:07 shut their mouths 12:09 and he used a beluga whale called Mila 12:12 to save Yang Yun. 12:13 Isn't that a beautiful story? 12:15 Thank you. 12:17 Welcome to our Bible study, 12:19 it's often said that truth is stranger than fiction, 12:22 and that's certainly the case in today's story. 12:25 But before we begin, 12:26 Caleb, would you please offer a prayer to ask God 12:30 to be with us as we study our Bible. 12:32 Sure. 12:34 Dear God, please be with us 12:36 and the children who are watching, 12:39 as we learn more about You, 12:40 please send Your Holy Spirit to help us understand 12:43 what we read, in Jesus' name, amen. 12:47 Thank you, Caleb. 12:49 Jeremiah, what did we study last week? 12:52 That God saved the three Hebrews 12:54 from the fiery furnace. 12:56 Yes, He Sure did. 12:58 They were promoted in the kingdom 13:00 for their faithfulness, won't they? 13:02 Today our story begins 13:03 in the Book of Daniel Chapter 4. 13:06 King Nebuchadnezzar write this chapter, 13:08 he's telling his own story. 13:10 His kingdom flourished 13:12 until the golden city of Babylon 13:13 became one of the wonders of the world. 13:16 But overtime he slipped back to his proud arrogant ways. 13:20 He forgot God and once again 13:23 believed that all his fabulous wealth and prosperity 13:26 was by his own clever doing. 13:29 So God in His mercy 13:31 sent Nebuchadnezzar another message. 13:34 Well, it was more like a wake up call. 13:37 Bethany, can you read that in verse 4, 5 of Chapter 4? 13:43 "I saw a dream which made me afraid, 13:45 and the thoughts on my bed 13:46 and the visions of my head troubled me." 13:49 King Nebuchadnezzar called in the magicians, 13:52 soothsayers, astrologers and Chaldeans 13:55 and told them the dream. 13:57 But unsurprisingly, they were no more use 14:00 than the last time he had a dream. 14:02 Finally he called in Daniel, the king was confident 14:06 that Daniel could explain the dream to him 14:08 because he knew 14:10 that God's Holy Spirit was in him. 14:13 Caleb, can you please read verse 10, 11, 14:17 and let's find out about the king's dream. 14:21 "These were the visions of my head while on my bed, 14:25 I was looking, and behold, 14:26 A tree in the midst of the earth, 14:29 and its height was great. 14:32 The tree grew and became strong, 14:34 its height reached to the heavens, 14:37 And it could be seen to the ends of all the earth." 14:42 Hmm. And verse 12, 13 please, Bryce? 14:47 "Its leaves were lovely, its fruit abundant, 14:50 and in it was food for all. 14:53 The beasts of the field found shade under it, 14:55 the birds of the heavens dwelt in its branches, 14:58 And all flesh was fed from it. 15:01 I saw in the visions of my head while on my bed, 15:04 and there was a watcher, 15:06 a holy one, coming down from heaven." 15:09 And verse 14, please, Jireh? 15:12 "He cried aloud and said thus, 15:14 'Chop down the tree and cut off its branches, 15:17 strip off its leaves and scatter its fruit. 15:19 Let the beasts get out from under it, 15:22 and the birds from its branches." 15:25 And verse 15, please, Jeremiah? 15:28 "Nevertheless leave the stump and roots in the earth, 15:32 bound with a band of iron and bronze, 15:34 in the tender grass of the field. 15:36 Let it be wet with the dew of heaven, 15:40 and let him graze with the beasts 15:42 on the grass of the earth." 15:44 And verse 16, Sai? 15:47 "Let his heart be changed from that of a man, 15:50 Let him be given the heart of a beast, 15:53 And let seven times pass over him." 15:56 And verse 17, please, Aunty Leah? 15:59 "This decision is by the decree of the watchers, 16:02 and the sentence by the word of the holy ones, 16:05 in order that the living may know 16:07 that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, 16:11 Gives it to whomever He will, 16:12 and sets over it the lowest of men." 16:15 The image of the king's dream 16:17 that we studied in Daniel Chapter 2 16:20 told the king that it is God who declares 16:23 or allows someone to rule. 16:25 But Nebuchadnezzar clearly needed reminding. 16:29 Daniel was horrified at the meaning of the dream. 16:32 It was a prophecy, a prediction about the future. 16:36 Daniel began his interpretation by informing the king 16:39 that the dream was from the Most High God. 16:42 Daniel faithfully explained that the huge strong tree 16:46 represented Nebuchadnezzar and his vast dominions 16:49 and that the holy watcher was God. 16:52 Verse 23 says, "Let him graze with the beasts of the field, 16:57 till seven times pass over him." 17:00 So the tree represented a person, 17:04 the king himself. 17:05 Bethany, please read verse 25, 17:08 where Daniel tells the king what will happen to him? 17:13 "They shall drive you from men, 17:15 your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, 17:17 and they shall make you eat grass like oxen. 17:20 They shall wet you with the dew of heaven, 17:22 and seven times shall pass over you, 17:24 till you know that the Most High 17:25 rules in the kingdom of men, 17:27 and gives it to whomever He chooses." 17:31 It doesn't sound like all the luxury of the palace 17:34 with fancy palace food, 17:36 seems like a tough way to learn a lesson, 17:39 but sometimes that's the only way 17:41 a loving God can get through to stubborn prayed hearts. 17:45 Now, seven times in prophetic language 17:48 means how long? 17:50 Seven years. Seven years. 17:52 Yes, there is some comfort in this 17:55 otherwise terrible judgment on the king. 17:58 Caleb, would you please read verse 26? 18:01 Sure, "And in as much as they gave the command 18:06 to leave the stump and roots of the tree, 18:08 your kingdom shall be assured to you, 18:10 after you come to know that Heaven rules." 18:16 Daniel begged the king to turn from his wicked ways, 18:20 in the hope that God would hold back His judgment. 18:23 Bryce, please read verse 27. 18:27 "Therefore, O king, let my advice 18:29 be acceptable to you, 18:31 break off your sins by being righteousness, 18:33 and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. 18:37 Perhaps there may be a lengthening 18:38 of your prosperity." 18:40 Jireh, would you please read 18:42 what our torchlight Mrs. White's writings 18:44 in Prophets and Kings, 18:46 page 519 shines on this? 18:52 "For a time 18:56 the impression of the warning and the counsel of the prophet 19:00 was strong upon Nebuchadnezzar, 19:03 but the heart that is not transformed 19:05 by the grace of God 19:07 soon loses the impressions of the Holy Spirit. 19:13 Self-indulgence and ambition had not yet been eradicated 19:18 from the king's heart, 19:19 and later on these traits reappeared. 19:23 Hardening his heart, 19:24 he used his God-given talents for self-glorification, 19:29 exalting himself above the God 19:34 who had given him life and power." 19:37 Yes, God gave King Nebuchadnezzar a full year 19:41 to change his ways. 19:43 How patient is God. 19:46 Then one day the king was walking 19:48 about the royal palace 19:50 admiring the amazing gold 19:52 and colored buildings and arch wise 19:54 and the magnificent hanging gardens 19:56 which was one of the wonders of the ancient world. 19:59 Babylon was a spectacular city, 20:02 for the boys and girls who watch us in Europe 20:04 perhaps one day you could get your mom and dad 20:06 to take you to the Pergamon Museum building 20:10 in Germany, 20:11 there you can see one of the beautiful blue gates 20:13 from the city of Babylon. 20:15 Let's see what King Nebuchadnezzar says. 20:19 Jeremiah, can you please read verse 30? 20:24 "Is not this great Babylon, 20:26 that I have built for a royal dwelling 20:29 by my mighty power 20:30 and for the honor of my majesty?" 20:33 What happen next? 20:35 Sai, can you please read verse 31? 20:38 "While the word was still in the king's mouth, 20:41 a voice fell from heaven, King Nebuchadnezzar, 20:45 to you it is spoken, 20:46 the kingdom has departed from you!" 20:50 That prophecy was fulfilled that very hour, 20:53 let's read about it. 20:54 Thanks, Aunty Leah. 20:56 Verse 32 says, 20:57 "And they shall drive you from men, 20:59 and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. 21:02 They shall make you eat grass like oxen, 21:04 and seven times shall pass over you, 21:07 until you know that the Most High rules 21:09 in the kingdom of men, 21:11 and gives it to whomever He chooses." 21:13 And verse 33 says, 21:15 "He was driven from men and ate grass like oxen, 21:18 his body was wet with the dew of heaven 21:21 till his hair had grown like eagles' feathers 21:24 and his nails like birds' claws." 21:27 The king became a weird looking tragic sight. 21:32 He was humbled before the whole world. 21:35 After seven years of eating grass 21:37 and crawling around on all fours, 21:40 he had learned the lesson taught in our memory verse. 21:43 Let's all turn to the second part 21:46 of 1 Peter 5:5. 21:50 Are we ready? 21:52 All right let's read. 21:53 "And be clothed with humility, for 'God resists the proud, 21:58 but gives grace to the humble.'" 22:01 King Nebuchadnezzar's reason returned after seven years, 22:06 he blessed and praised God. 22:09 God restored the kingdom to Nebuchadnezzar 22:12 and he became greater than ever before, 22:14 but this time he gave God the credit 22:17 for all his prosperity. 22:18 He also acknowledge that God was the superior ruler, 22:22 the king of an everlasting kingdom 22:24 whose ways are true and just. 22:27 Finally converted in his heart, 22:29 King Nebuchadnezzar lived the rest of his life 22:31 giving unreserved glory and honor to God. 22:35 I hope you have been downloading 22:36 our devotionals each week. 22:38 So you can review our story 22:40 and try the activities that go along with it. 22:43 If you haven't done so yet, here's how. 22:50 What do you want? 22:52 You bored? 22:53 Yes. 22:54 Look what I got. 22:58 Whoa! 22:59 Look at that.
