00:02 Hello there, happy Sabbath.
00:03 Come on in, we're about to meet with the King. 00:41 Good day. 00:42 I'm Uncle Daniel 00:43 and we are looking forward to sharing 00:45 another worship time with you to welcoming the Sabbath. 00:47 We pray you will receive a special blessing 00:50 as you join in with us. 00:52 Girls and boys, and Aunty Leah, 00:54 welcome to you all. 00:56 And, Aunty Leah, 00:57 who else do we say hello to today? 01:00 Well, I'll like to say hello to Amanda, 01:03 who lives in Bonnells Bay on Lake Macquarie 01:05 in New South Wales. 01:06 She likes to watch A Day with the King. 01:08 Hello! Hello! 01:11 We love to hear from you 01:12 wherever you live around the world. 01:15 We know some children watch a Day with the King 01:17 on their computer 01:19 because they can catch up with our program 01:21 at a time that suits them best. 01:23 Here's the web address, on the screen 01:25 if you want to explore that option. 01:27 Amber, would you please say a prayer for us 01:30 to start our worship time? 01:31 Sure. 01:33 Dear Lord, please bless the children at home 01:35 who have joined us, 01:37 help us to love You more, in Jesus' name, amen. 01:40 Amen. 01:41 Thank you, Amber. 01:43 Aunty Leah, 01:44 what Bible gems do you have for us today? 01:46 We have another Bible gem 01:48 that Jesus wants us to understand today. 01:51 Caleb, would you like to find it 01:52 from our jewel box? 01:54 Sure. 01:58 Wow! Look at that. 02:00 What does the Bible verse say? 02:02 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21. 02:07 Alisha, would you mind reading that for us? 02:10 Sure. 02:16 "Do not despise prophecies, 02:18 test all things, hold fast what is good." 02:21 Thank you, Alisha. 02:23 To despise means to utterly reject something 02:26 or to loathe it. 02:28 God wants us not to ignore or undervalue prophecy. 02:32 Jesus warned in Matthew 24, 02:34 that false Christs and false prophets will rise 02:37 and show great signs and wonders 02:40 to deceive if possible, even the elect. 02:43 The elect are those who follow Jesus 02:45 and the scriptures, 02:47 that's why we should test every prophecy. 02:50 If someone claims to have the gift of prophecy, 02:52 we need it to compare it 02:54 with what the scripture says and hold fast or cherish 02:57 that which agrees with the Bible. 02:59 We need to be sure about Bible time prophecies 03:02 because Satan has inspired many false interpretations, 03:06 particularly about the little horn power 03:09 described in the Book of Daniel. 03:11 The little horn is a political and religious power 03:14 that fights against the people of God, 03:17 persecuting and killing them 03:19 for a time and times and half a time. 03:23 Let's calculate this period. 03:25 This chart will help us. 03:26 What have we learnt about the word time in prophecy? 03:29 What does time equal? 03:31 One year! 03:32 What does times equal? 03:34 Two years! 03:36 What is half a time? 03:37 Half year! 03:39 Very good. 03:40 So we have three and a half prophetic years. 03:43 There were 360 days in a year in a Jewish calendar. 03:47 If you use the calculator, you can work out 03:50 that three and a half prophetic years 03:52 equals 1,260 days 03:56 which is 1, 260 literal years. 04:00 The Book of Revelation 04:02 refers to this same period as 42 months, 04:05 based on 30 days in each Jewish calendar month. 04:09 See the devotional for this week to review 04:12 how we worked out these numbers. 04:14 There's another time prophecy 04:16 we're going to learn about when we get to Daniel 8:14. 04:20 It talks about 2,300 prophetic days. 04:24 How many literal years is that? 04:27 Two thousand three hundred years! 04:30 Excellent. 04:31 So remember, God loves you 04:33 and wants you to understand the prophecies. 04:36 He will show you 04:37 if you put all your trust in Him and follow His leading. 04:41 Thanks, Aunty Leah. 04:42 Look, Braedan's back. 04:44 It's great to be back with you all again. 04:46 And seeing it's a Sabbath, 04:47 let's start with a Sabbath song. 04:49 And it's called "It's The Sabbath". 04:56 It's the Sabbath, it's the Sabbath 04:59 We will worship as we sing 05:02 For our God is come to join us 05:04 Let us spend time with our King 05:07 It's the Sabbath, it's the Sabbath 05:09 We will all sing and rejoice 05:12 As we leave our week behind us 05:15 And we praise God with one voice 05:17 For God's day is the seventh day 05:20 Of every week, we know 05:22 He gave us time to spend with Him 05:25 Because He loves us so 05:27 It's the Sabbath, it's the Sabbath 05:29 Do you hear Him call today 05:32 As we come here now to worship Him 05:35 On His appointed day 05:39 Braedan, can we sing "God is my best friend?" 05:41 That's a good choice. 05:43 Now God is the best friend 05:44 we could ever hope for or imagine. 05:45 Let's sing it together. 05:50 My very best friend is God on high 05:54 He never lets me down 05:57 God gives me all I need and more 06:01 His blessings all abound 06:05 God of mercy, God of love 06:08 God of earth and heav'n above 06:12 He is so good to me 06:15 God is my best Friend 06:20 God gives me joy to live each day 06:24 With all my sins forgiven 06:27 From doing wrong, I turn away 06:30 And fix my gaze on heaven 06:34 God is patient, God is kind 06:38 God protects my heart and mind 06:41 He is so good to me 06:45 God is my best friend 06:49 Braedan, can we play sing, "Dare to be a Daniel?" 06:53 You're going to be learning more 06:54 about Daniel later in the show. 06:56 That's a great choice. 06:57 Let's sing it. 07:04 Standing by a purpose true 07:07 Heeding God's command 07:10 Honor them, the faithful few All hail to Daniel's band 07:15 Dare to be a Daniel Dare to stand alone 07:21 Dare to have a purpose firm 07:24 Dare to make it known 07:27 Thanks, Braedan. Jesus is my best friend. 07:30 It's story time again with Dr. John. 07:33 Hello, boys and girls, 07:35 I'm Dr. John and it's wonderful to have you back again. 07:38 And hello to all the boys and girls 07:40 right around the world. 07:42 You know, when I was in high school, 07:45 and I saw a man who was at college, 07:48 he was quite young and he liked to preach. 07:53 And I got to know him, 07:55 in fact, I have known him now for about 56 or 57 years. 08:01 And so we're both a bit older, 08:04 and he became known as one of the greatest evangelist, 08:09 that's the preacher, in all the world, 08:12 and his name is Pastor John Carter. 08:17 Well, last year, I went to a country very cold, 08:22 and I went with Pastor Carter and we preached. 08:26 And he told me about 08:29 when he preached there 25 years ago, 08:32 he arrived in the city and he said, 08:35 "I want to hold, 08:36 I want people to come and listen 08:39 to the story of salvation in Jesus Christ 08:41 because they haven't heard." 08:44 And some people who didn't have much faith said, 08:47 "Oh, we've got a little hole here, 08:50 it will hold a couple of hundred people. 08:53 That would be good. 08:54 These people don't like going to church, 08:56 and Pastor Cater said, "Aha! 08:59 I want the biggest hole in the whole city. 09:03 What's the biggest hole?" 09:05 "Oh! The Sports Stadium." 09:09 "That holds how many?" "Thirty Thousand." 09:12 "Oh, I guess it will do." 09:15 And so they printed out 09:17 a whole lot of handbills, advertising 09:20 a 100, 200, 300, 400, a 1,000, 09:27 a 100,000, 500,000 09:31 right across the city, television adverts, 09:36 all big signs at the side of the road, 09:39 common here Pastor Carter 09:42 until somebody put a leaflet 09:45 on the desk of the patriarch, 09:49 the boss of the religion in the city. 09:52 He looked there and he said, 09:54 "He's not coming here, this is my place. 09:59 They can listen to me preach." 10:03 And then he said something very silly. 10:07 He said, "Pastor John Carter 10:10 will come here and preach 10:12 over my dead body." 10:18 Everybody were scared, 10:22 you don't say that in front of God. 10:25 A couple of days later he dropped dead, 10:31 and the city was so stirred up, 10:35 that when they tried to bury him, 10:37 the government said, 10:38 "Sorry, we're not gonna bury him in the church." 10:42 There's the beautiful city, 10:45 that's a lovely city, 10:49 and there is Pastor Carter, 10:52 because they wouldn't let him be buried in the church, 10:56 they dug a hole in the footpath, 10:58 right outside the church and they buried him there. 11:03 And that is Pastor Carter, he's wearing my hat 11:07 and he's standing in front of the grave 11:11 of the bishop, the patriarch. 11:15 They would not let him be buried in the church 11:20 because he had stirred up the people 11:23 and the government so much. 11:25 And you know when they had that mission, 11:29 30, 000 people crowded in 11:31 and 100, 000 people were waiting outside. 11:36 Pastor Carter buried in Christ, 11:40 baptism in water, 11:42 33, 000 people, and God is not mocked. 11:49 You know people in the Bible, 11:52 we have a song, "Dare to be a Daniel," 11:54 and was studying about the Book of Daniel. 11:57 It takes a lot of courage 12:00 and because Pastor Carter thought big 12:03 and God thought big, 12:05 and a man thought small and he said, 12:08 "You will not preach here over my dead body." 12:11 God said, "If that is what you wish, 12:13 that is what will happen." 12:15 And many people came to know Jesus Christ 12:17 because of the courage 12:19 of John Carter and the Holy Spirit. 12:22 Thank you, boys and girls. 12:24 Did you enjoy Dr. John's story? 12:27 Yes! 12:28 Well, we have another story, 12:30 another true story to learn about in the Bible. 12:33 But first, Aunty Leah, would you please ask 12:36 the Holy Spirit to be with us as we study? 12:38 Yes. 12:39 Dear gracious Father in heaven, 12:42 please send Your Holy Spirit here to be with us 12:44 and teach us Your Word. 12:45 I just pray that You'll also bless 12:47 all the children that are joining us, 12:48 in Jesus' name, amen. 12:50 Amen. Amen. 12:52 Bethany, could you please tell us 12:54 what we learnt about last week? 12:55 Cyrus captured Babylon. 12:57 Yes, King Belshazzar had been so rebellious 13:00 that God allowed the kingdom to be taken from him. 13:04 Cyrus was the commander of the army of the soldiers 13:06 who captured Babylon. 13:08 Now open your Bibles to Daniel Chapter 6, 13:12 King Darius the Mede, took over the Babylonian throne 13:15 and started to reorganize the government. 13:18 Bethany, could you please read verse 1 for us? 13:22 "It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom 13:24 one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom." 13:28 Verse 2 says, "King Darius appointed 13:31 Daniel the chief of the three governors 13:33 to rule over the satraps or princes." 13:35 Daniel was totally faithful in taking care 13:38 of the king's money and property 13:39 and governing wisely. 13:41 How did the king regard Daniel? 13:43 Caleb, could you please read verse 3? 13:47 "Then this Daniel distinguished himself 13:50 above the governors and satraps, 13:52 because an excellent spirit was in him, 13:55 and the king gave thought 13:57 to setting him over the whole realm." 14:00 These governors or presidents and the satraps, 14:04 or the princes and rulers in the realm became so jealous 14:07 that they plotted to kill Daniel, 14:09 but they had a problem getting Daniel into trouble. 14:12 Verse 4 tells us why. Thanks Bryce. 14:15 "So the governors and satraps sought 14:17 to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom, 14:21 but they could find no charge or fault, 14:26 because he was faithful, 14:28 nor was there any error or fault found in him." 14:31 Not only was Daniel faithful 14:33 to his appointed duties for the king, 14:36 he was also faithful to the God of heaven 14:38 and they knew it. 14:40 They had observed Daniel at the window of his house 14:43 praying to God three times a day 14:45 everyday without fail, 14:47 that gave them an idea about how to get rid of him. 14:51 The success of their evil plan depended on Daniel's 14:54 unwavering commitment to God. 14:56 Let's read about it. 14:58 Chemiah, can you please read that in the next verse? 15:01 "So these governors and satraps 15:07 thronged before the king, and said thus to him: 15:10 'King Darius, live forever!'" 15:13 And Jeremiah, verse 7? 15:18 "All the governors of the kingdom, 15:20 the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors, 15:24 have consulted together to establish a royal statute 15:27 and to make a firm decree, 15:28 that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, 15:32 except you, O king, 15:33 shall be cast into the den of lions." 15:36 The used flattery to trick the king into signing a law 15:39 where people could only worship him for 30 days. 15:43 Secretly, it was designed to be a law 15:45 against the free worship of the God of heaven, 15:48 and just to make sure that wicked plan more secure, 15:51 verse 8 says they reminded the king 15:54 that not even he could alter the law once he signed it. 15:58 Do you think the king carefully considered 16:01 what he was being asked to sign? 16:03 No. 16:04 Sadly he signed the decree. 16:07 Remember when King Nebuchadnezzar 16:08 tried to force everyone to worship the golden image 16:11 he had made to represent himself. 16:13 Does God force us to worship Him? 16:15 No. No. 16:17 But here we have another situation, 16:20 where the state or the ruler of the country made a law 16:23 to force people to worship in the way 16:25 that God's Word forbids. 16:27 Well, these wicked men spied on Daniel all day. 16:31 Jireh, could you please read verse 10? 16:35 "Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, 16:38 he went home. 16:40 And in his upper room, 16:41 with his windows open toward Jerusalem, 16:44 he knelt down on his knees three times that day, 16:48 and prayed and gave thanks before his God, 16:51 as was his custom since early days." 16:54 Daniel quickly worked out 16:56 what their evil purpose was in making up 16:59 this law for the king to sign. 17:01 This was night time to pray inside 17:03 where he couldn't be seen, that would dishonor God. 17:06 Daniel preferred to give up life itself than dishonor God 17:11 by hiding his religion. 17:12 He demonstrated his hope and trust that God will hear 17:16 and answer his prayer for deliverance. 17:18 He would have claimed God's promises of help 17:21 like the one in Psalm 50:15. 17:24 Let's all turn to it 17:25 and read it together for our memory verse. 17:30 "Call upon Me in the day of trouble, 17:33 I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me." 17:38 Daniel's behavior demonstrated his conviction 17:41 that no one on earth has the authority 17:43 to come between any human being 17:46 and their right to worship God in the way the Bible says too. 17:50 Well, the wicked governors and princes got the evidence 17:52 they were looking for 17:54 and rushed off to tell the king that Daniel had broken the law 17:57 and therefore had to be thrown into the lions' den. 18:01 How did the king feel about this news? 18:04 Aunty Leah, could you please read that in verse 14? 18:08 "And the king, when he heard these words, 18:10 was greatly displeased with himself, 18:13 and he set his heart on Daniel to deliver him, 18:16 and he labored till the going down of the sun 18:18 to deliver him." 18:20 The king had realized that these men 18:22 tricked him with flattery. 18:24 These wicked men used the king to set a trap 18:26 for his faithful servant Daniel, 18:29 he felt ashamed. 18:31 But the governors and princes cruelly reminded the king 18:34 that the law could not be changed. 18:37 What did the king do in verses 16 and 17? 18:40 Thanks, Bethany. 18:42 "So the king gave the command, and they brought Daniel 18:45 and cast him into the den of lions. 18:47 But the king spoke, saying to Daniel, 18:49 'Your God, whom you serve continually, 18:51 He will deliver you.' 18:53 Then a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, 18:56 and the king sealed it with his own signet ring, 18:59 with the signets of his lords, 19:00 that the purpose concerning Daniel 19:02 might not be changed." 19:04 Now these were very hungry lions, 19:06 and they were deliberately kept hungry 19:08 for occasion such as this. 19:11 Now, do you think this was the end of Daniel? 19:14 No! No. 19:16 Well, the king hoped not either, 19:18 he didn't eat or sleep that night, 19:20 he felt terrible. 19:22 At the crack of dawn, 19:24 the king hurried to the lions' den. 19:26 Let's see what happens. 19:27 Caleb, could you please read that in verse 20? 19:32 "And when he came to the den, 19:33 he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. 19:36 The king spoke, saying to Daniel, 19:40 'Daniel, servant of the living God, 19:42 has your God, whom you serve continually, 19:44 been able to deliver you from the lions?" 19:48 And what do verses 21 and 22 say, Chemiah. 19:53 "Then Daniel said to the king, 19:55 'O king, live forever! 19:57 My God had sent His angel and shut the lions' mouths, 20:01 so that they have not hurt me, 20:03 because I was found innocent before Him, 20:08 and also, O king, 20:11 I have done no wrong before you.'" 20:13 So who shut the mouths of the lions 20:15 so that they wouldn't hurt Daniel? 20:17 An angel. 20:19 Yes, an angel, God is so good. 20:22 When King Darius heard what Daniel said to him, 20:25 he commanded that Daniel should be lifted 20:27 out of the lions' den immediately. 20:29 Then the king commanded Daniel's accusers 20:32 to be cast into the lions' den, 20:34 and the hungry lions destroyed them 20:36 before they even hit the floor of the den. 20:39 Let's have a look at our torchlight, 20:40 Mrs. White's writings in the book 20:43 Prophets and Kings, page 543. 20:47 Bryce, could you please read that for us? 20:52 "God did not prevent Daniel's enemies 20:55 from casting him into the lions' den, 20:57 He permitted evil angels and wicked men 20:59 thus far to accomplish their purpose, 21:02 but it was that He might make 21:03 the deliverance of His servant more marked, 21:05 and the defeat of the enemies of truth 21:07 and righteousness more complete." 21:10 God was able to use Daniel to help the world 21:13 get to know what God is like. 21:15 As a result, King Darius sent a letter to all peoples, 21:19 nations and languages that dwell in all the earth, 21:22 decreeing that everyone in the kingdom must respect 21:25 and honor the all powerful living God of Daniel 21:29 whose kingdom is everlasting. 21:32 The whole world got to hear 21:34 about Daniel's amazing deliverance from the lions. 21:37 Jeremiah, how did King Darius 21:39 describe God in verse 27? 21:45 "He delivers and rescues, and He works signs and wonders 21:49 in heaven and on earth, 21:50 Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions." 21:54 God vindicated Daniel's faithfulness. 21:57 He continued to be an ambassador 21:59 for the king of kings following the death of King Darius 22:02 and during the reign of his successor, King Cyrus. 22:07 Cyrus also came to know 22:09 and serve God through Daniel's faithful witness. 22:12 And I pray you and I would learn to trust 22:15 and obey God in all circumstances 22:18 just like Daniel did, 22:20 then we can be a mighty witness for God too. 22:23 Boys and girls, 22:24 put a bookmark in your Bible in Daniel Chapter 7, 22:27 ready for next week, 22:29 when we'll have some more riddles to solve. 22:31 And don't forget download our devotionals 22:34 which reviewed today's story. 22:35 Here's how. 22:40 What do you want? 22:42 You bored? Where did you get these? 22:54 adaywiththeking.com. 22:57 Uncle Daniel, what are we going to be learning about next week? 23:01 Have you ever had a dream about animals? 23:04 Well, Daniel had a dream. 23:06 He saw some unusual animals in the dream 23:08 given to him by God. 23:10 So join us next week 23:12 to find out the special meaning of Daniel's animal dream. 23:15 Uncle Daniel, can we say our memory verse once more? 23:18 Yes, we can. Ready? 23:21 "Call upon Me in the day of trouble, 23:24 I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me." 23:29 Psalm 50:15. 23:32 Have you ever called upon Jesus to help you 23:34 when you've been in trouble? 23:36 And have you remembered to thank Him 23:37 when He delivered you out of trouble? 23:40 Bethany, what did you learn about the king today? 23:42 Jesus will protect me 23:44 even when it looks like terrible things will happen. 23:46 Yes, Jesus is always there for us, 23:49 we just have to call upon Him like our memory verse says. 23:52 Remember, we have a guardian angels 23:54 to protect us, 23:56 just like Daniel had a guardian angel 23:58 who shut the mouth of the lions. 24:01 As we conclude our worship time, 24:03 we pray that you will take these thoughts with you 24:05 through the Sabbath and into the coming week. 24:09 Uncle Daniel, can we sing our blessing song now? 24:11 Yes, we can. 24:17 May God bless you and keep you 24:23 And fill your heart with love 24:28 May God guide and protect you 24:33 And watch you from above 24:38 And Sabbath after Sabbath 24:43 We greet the day of rest 24:48 The day the king of glory 24:53 Has sanctified and blessed 24:59 Goodbye my friend till we meet again 25:04 For another day with the King 25:08 Goodbye. Happy Sabbath. 25:20 I know Jesus loves me 25:22 because He's blessed me with amazing family and friends. 25:29 I know Jesus loves me 25:31 because He keeps me safe from day to day. 25:39 I know Jesus loves me because He gave me animals. |
