00:01 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:03 Come on in, we're about to meet with the King. 00:40 Welcome to the beginning of another Sabbath day 00:42 with the King. 00:44 I'm Aunty Leah, 00:45 and we love having your company. 00:47 It's always a blessing to hear from you 00:49 and to know that you're joining us in worship. 00:51 And it's a blessing to have you here 00:53 and the children, Uncle Daniel, hello to you all. 00:56 Hello, Aunty Leah, and hello, boys and girls. 00:59 It's lovely to have you all here with us. 01:02 Has anyone, been anyway interesting? 01:06 Yeah. 01:08 I went with my family water skiing. 01:10 Wow! 01:12 That's really interesting. 01:13 That's great. I love water skiing. 01:15 Who would like to invite God to be with us? 01:18 I will. 01:19 Thank you, Bryce. 01:21 Dear, Lord, thank You for another Sabbath, 01:23 it reminds us that You made us. 01:26 Help us to keep it Holy, in Jesus' name, amen. 01:30 Thank you, Bryce. 01:31 Aunty, Leah, 01:32 do you have any more exciting clues 01:35 to Bible prophecy? 01:36 Yes, I have. 01:38 We've learned a lot about symbols in the Bible, 01:40 haven't we? 01:41 We use symbols all the time to represent things. 01:44 Have you ever been on a team 01:46 where you gave your team a name 01:48 like Tigers or Wombats? 01:50 Animals are often used as symbols for countries too. 01:54 What animal do you think of 01:56 when you think of Australia? 01:57 Kangaroo. 01:59 And New Zealand? 02:01 Kiwi. 02:02 What about USA? 02:04 Eagle. 02:05 And England? 02:07 A lion. 02:08 In the Bible, animals often represent countries. 02:12 Let's look in our jewel box to find clues 02:15 to some other Bible symbols 02:17 that help us interpret Daniel's dream 02:19 in today's Bible study. 02:21 Jireh, would you like to find our gemstone Bible reference? 02:31 Revelation 17:15. 02:34 Jeremiah, would you like to read 02:35 the first and last part of that verse? 02:43 "The waters which you saw are peoples, 02:45 multitudes, nations, and tongues." 02:48 So seas or big bodies of water in prophecy 02:51 represent populated areas. 02:54 Areas where lots of people are living, 02:56 such as in the big cities. 02:58 Another prophetic symbol is wind. 03:01 In Jeremiah Chapters 25 and 49, strong winds like whirlwinds 03:07 are used to describe war and strife. 03:10 Zachariah 7:14 talks about a whirlwind, 03:14 utterly destroying the homes of rebellious people. 03:18 Another symbol is wings. 03:20 Two of the animals you'll learn about had wings 03:22 but they weren't birds. 03:24 What do you think wings might be a symbol of? 03:27 Flying. 03:28 Yes. 03:30 Deuteronomy 28:49 03:32 describes the flight of an eagle 03:34 as swift or fast. 03:36 Can a plane fly faster than a racing car? 03:39 Yes. 03:40 So wings in prophecy represent speed. 03:43 For example, the swift rapid pace 03:46 with which one nation conquers another nation. 03:49 We know from King Nebuchadnezzar's symbolic dream 03:52 that heads can represent kingdoms. 03:55 Animals' heads can represent kingdoms too. 03:58 Horns on the heads of animals can also represent kingdoms. 04:02 Where do we find that in the Bible? 04:04 The answer is in our jewel box. 04:06 Jireh, would you like to read our clue in the jewel box? 04:14 "The ten horns which you saw are ten kings." 04:17 Thanks, Jireh. 04:19 Horns, heads, and animals 04:21 can all be used as symbols of nations 04:23 or kingdoms in Bible prophecy. 04:25 Have a closer look at the chart on our website, 04:28 which explains these symbols. 04:30 Prophecy would be of no use to us 04:32 if it couldn't be understood. 04:34 So, remember, 04:35 God wants us to search the scriptures 04:37 to find the meaning of prophetic symbols. 04:40 It's a treasure hunt really worth going on. 04:42 It certainly is, and these clues will help us 04:45 to better understand our Bible study. 04:47 Braeden's back with his guitar. 04:49 Yes, he is. 04:51 Thank you, Braedan, for joining us. 04:52 Hi, Uncle Daniel. 04:54 Guys, it's now the Sabbath again 04:55 and that's really exciting. 04:57 We've got a Sabbath song to open with today 04:58 and it's called 05:00 "We will gather to meet with the King." 05:01 Let's sing it together. 05:06 On Friday eve when the sun goes down 05:11 A special day of the week comes 'round 05:15 On Friday eve when the sun goes down 05:19 We will gather to meet with the King 05:23 On Friday eve when the sun goes down 05:27 When all of our work and play is done 05:31 On Friday eve when the sun goes down 05:35 We will joyfully worship the King 05:40 Braedan, can we please sing "The King's Dream?" 05:42 That's a great choice. Let's sing it together. 05:50 God showed the King of Babylon 05:55 What was to happen when he'd gone 05:59 A mighty image of a man 06:03 Was used to show God's master plan 06:07 Golden head, the chest and arms of silver 06:12 Thighs and belly were all of brass 06:15 The legs were iron, 06:17 The feet were too Mixed in with miry clay 06:23 The head of gold was Babylon 06:27 The silver - Medo Persia strong 06:30 Then Greece, the brass, would rule with might 06:34 Iron Rome, would nations, turn to flight 06:39 The iron and clay in the feet and toes 06:43 Would never mix together, God knows 06:48 A stone uncut by human hands 06:52 Would crush the image of a man 06:56 That is the kingdom of our Lord 06:59 Who'll reign on earth for evermore 07:05 Braeden, can we please sing the prophecy theme song? 07:07 We can. 07:09 Now, Bryce, do you remember what prophecy is? 07:11 History told ahead of time. 07:13 Nice work. Nice job. 07:14 Let's sing it together. 07:21 Prophecy is history told ahead of time 07:25 God is good He's so good 07:29 God reveals the future To build your faith and mine 07:33 In His word, in His word 07:38 Prophecy is history told ahead of time 07:42 Thank You Lord Thank You Lord 07:46 Prayerfully dig deep and the Truth 07:49 You'll always find 07:51 In His Word, in His Word 07:56 Thanks, Braedan, 07:57 we've been learning all about the king's dream 08:00 in our Bible studies. 08:02 Guess what's next? 08:03 Dr. John. 08:05 You guys guessed it. 08:06 I wonder what he has for us this week. 08:08 Hello, boys and girls. 08:10 I'm Dr. John, and I'm so happy to see you again. 08:13 And I'm saying hello to all the boys and girls 08:15 right around the world who're watching. 08:19 You know there are names now that are very old fashioned, 08:23 and I'm sure that none of you girls have this name. 08:27 Gladys and she was born in London 08:32 over 100 years ago 08:33 Gladys Aylward, she was very poor. 08:38 She only did a little bit of school 08:41 and people said you are not very smart. 08:46 She went to a meeting one day 08:48 and she heard a missionary talking about China. 08:51 She said, "I want to go to China. 08:54 I want to be a missionary." 08:57 And her work was to scrub doorsteps 09:00 and make beds, not really missionary material. 09:05 And she went to the mission school 09:07 run by the China Inland Mission. 09:09 She said, "I want to learn Chinese." 09:12 You? 09:16 You are not missionary material. 09:18 "I want to do the course." 09:20 And she did the whole course 09:23 to learn Chinese and she failed. 09:27 They said ta-ta, you're not missionary material. 09:31 She was very tiny and she said, 09:36 "I will go to China." 09:41 She saved up all her money, 09:42 she couldn't afford to go by boat 09:44 and she went by train right across Russia 09:48 all the way to Japan and then to China. 09:52 And apart from her ticket 09:54 all she had was about $40 in her pocket. 09:59 And she was bullied, 10:00 she was kicked off the train by Russian soldiers. 10:04 And when she got there, she found an old lady 10:07 who was a missionary Mrs. Lawson, 10:10 and they said, "Let's be missionaries." 10:12 How would you start? 10:14 Well, they were smart. 10:16 They said, "Let's open a motel for donkeys 10:21 or mules" 10:23 because they knew 10:25 that the animals would come along 10:27 and they were tied to the animal behind 10:30 and they would turn in 10:32 and running and grab them and pull them in, 10:34 and the mules would know they're getting food 10:37 and then they told the muleteers, 10:39 the drivers, stories about Jesus 10:42 and that is what they called their hotel. 10:46 You can't read that but that means 10:48 "Inn of the Eight Happinesses" 10:51 and they are the eight happinesses, 10:53 love, virtue, gentleness, tolerance, loyalty, 10:56 truth, beauty, and devotion. 10:59 You know, she was so small and so brave 11:02 that when there was a riot in the prison 11:05 and none of the soldiers would go in, 11:07 the mandarin said, 11:08 "Call for the virtuous little lady." 11:12 That's what they called her, 11:14 and send her in to stop the riot. 11:16 How could you... 11:17 She was only that tall and she walked in 11:20 and she shouted at the prisoners, 11:23 "I cannot talk while you're all shouting." 11:26 They were so surprised, they stopped and they said, 11:29 "What do you want?" 11:30 She said "Tell me what's making you angry?" 11:33 They said, "We have no food, 11:35 we're locked up, 11:36 we need some food to eat and clothes to wear, 11:40 you know, she changed their conditions. 11:43 And one day she saw a little girl 11:45 and she bought the little girl for nine pence. 11:49 She was five years old and she called her Nine Pence. 11:54 Nine Pence found a little boy and he had no food so she said, 11:58 "I will eat less 12:00 till you can feed the little boy." 12:02 So she called the little boy 12:03 "Less" 12:05 until she had 200 children. 12:10 And then the war came 12:11 and she had to get across the river 12:14 and she had all her children. 12:16 And the mandarin was gonna chop the heads of all the prisoners, 12:20 she said, "I will take them with me and they will behave. 12:24 You know, she died 12:26 when she was 69 years of age in China. 12:29 But she was a little girl 12:32 who nobody thought she can ever be a missionary 12:35 but she became one of the greatest missionaries 12:38 of the last century. 12:40 Gladys Aylward, 12:42 no education, just a little parlor maid. 12:46 She learned to speak perfect Chinese 12:48 and she was honored all over the world, 12:51 and she's now sleeping and waiting for Jesus. 12:54 She's one of my favorite people. 12:56 Thank you, boys and girls. 12:59 We're all ready for our Bible study 13:01 Did you leave a bookmark in Daniel Chapter 7 last week? 13:04 That's what we'll be reading today. 13:06 Who would like to commence with a prayer for us? 13:08 I will. 13:10 Thank you, Bryce. 13:11 Dear, God, please be with us as we learn more about You. 13:15 Please bless the children at home, 13:17 who have joined us, in Jesus' name, amen. 13:19 Amen. Amen. 13:21 Thanks, Bryce. 13:22 Caleb, do you remember what we learnt about last week? 13:26 God saved Daniel from being eaten by the lions. 13:29 What a wonderful miracle that was. 13:31 Today, we're going to learn about a strange dream 13:34 that God gave Daniel. 13:36 In Chapter 2, 13:37 we covered the history of the world 13:38 in prophetic outline 13:40 with King Nebuchadnezzar's dream. 13:44 King Nebuchadnezzar's dream was such an important prophecy 13:48 that God repeated it 13:50 in a number of visions to Daniel. 13:52 Each vision builds on the one before 13:54 and adds more detail. 13:56 The symbols used in prophecies 13:58 may seem hard to understand at first 14:01 but our torchlight, 14:02 Mrs. White's writings in the book Great Controversy, 14:05 page 521, shines light on what we need to do 14:09 to understand these prophecies. 14:11 Bethany, could you please read that for us? 14:13 Sure. 14:16 "God gave to men the sure word of prophecy. 14:19 The word of God is plain 14:21 to all who study it with a prayerful heart. 14:24 Every truly honest soul 14:25 will come to the light of truth." 14:27 Amen. 14:28 We have to do lots of prayerful study 14:30 to understand some things in the Bible. 14:33 God promises to reveal the truth to us 14:35 when we seek Him with all our heart, 14:38 holding nothing back. 14:39 In Amos 3:7, 14:42 God promised that He would reveal His secrets 14:44 about the future to His servants, 14:46 the prophets so we could be prepared. 14:49 Let's read Amos 3:7, as our memory verse, together. 14:55 Are we ready? 14:57 Yes. 14:58 "Surely the Lord God does nothing, 15:01 unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets." 15:06 God is so good to us. 15:08 Let's find out about Daniel's strange animal dream. 15:12 Caleb, could you please read Daniel 7:2? 15:19 "Daniel spoke, saying, 'I saw in my vision by night, 15:22 and behold, the four winds of heaven 15:26 were stirring up the Great Sea.' 15:28 ''What do winds represent in prophecy? 15:30 Conflict. 15:32 Good and what about sea in prophetic language? 15:36 People. 15:38 Very good. 15:39 As Daniel looked at the wild surfs 15:41 are crashing on to the shore, 15:43 he saw some very strange animals 15:45 coming up out of the sea, 15:47 one after another. 15:49 Now, in prophecy what do animals often represent? 15:52 Nations. Yes. 15:55 In fact an angel tells Daniel just that. 15:58 Let's read verse 17. 16:00 Thanks, Bryce. 16:05 "Those great beasts, which are four, 16:08 are four kings which arise out of the earth." 16:11 Keep in mind then 16:12 that Daniel's vision is a prophecy 16:14 about kings or kingdoms that arose 16:17 one after another through war and conquest 16:20 in populated parts of the world. 16:22 Let's read about the first one in verse 4. 16:25 Thanks, Chemiah. 16:27 "The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings. 16:31 I watched till its wings were plucked off, 16:33 and it was lifted up from the earth 16:35 and made to stand on two feet like a man, 16:38 and a man's heart was given to it." 16:41 Aunty Leah, could you show us the picture of the first beast? 16:46 The lion is regarded as the king of beasts 16:49 and the eagle as the chief of birds, 16:52 so this kingdom is grand, strong, and swift to conquer. 16:56 Did you know that the animal symbol 16:57 for the kingdom of Babylon was a lion? 17:00 Is a lion strong? 17:01 Yes. Yes. 17:03 Babylon was a strong kingdom that ruled the world. 17:07 They had paintings 17:08 and wall carvings of lions everywhere. 17:11 The second half of this verse describes changes 17:13 that weakened Babylon over time. 17:16 Then Daniel saw another animal 17:18 come up out of the wild foaming surf. 17:21 Jeremiah, could you please read about that in verse 5? 17:27 "And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear. 17:30 It was raised up on one side, 17:32 and had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. 17:35 And they said thus to it, 'Arise, devour much flesh.'" 17:39 The lopsided bear arose out of the sea 17:42 after the winged lion. 17:44 Which kingdom followed Babylon? 17:46 Medo-Persia. 17:47 Yes. 17:49 Like the two silver arms over the statue 17:51 represented the two corralling nations 17:53 of Media and Persia, 17:54 the bear is raised up on one side. 17:57 This indicates they were not equal in power. 18:00 History tells us 18:01 that Medes were the more powerful at first, 18:04 then the Persians rose to dominate for most 18:06 of their time as world rulers. 18:09 The bear is depicted as hungry, devouring much flesh. 18:13 The three ribs in its mouth represent three nations 18:16 they devoured or defeated. 18:19 We know from history that these were Babylon, 18:22 Egypt, and Lydia. 18:25 Let's read about the next beast in verse 6. 18:28 Thanks, Sai. 18:30 "After this I looked, 18:31 and there was another, like a leopard, 18:34 which had on its back four wings of a bird. 18:37 The beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it." 18:43 I've never really seen a leopard 18:45 with four heads and four wings. 18:46 Have you? 18:48 No! No. 18:49 The next empire was Greece, the leopard. 18:52 The wings represented the swiftness 18:54 with which young king Alexander the Great conquered the world. 18:59 The four heads represented Alexander's four generals 19:02 who divided up the kingdom, following his death. 19:05 Then Daniel saw a beast so terrible, 19:08 he can't even think of a name for it. 19:11 It's often depicted 19:13 as a fierce dragon like creature. 19:16 Let's find out about the fourth beast. 19:19 Aunty Leah, can you please read that in verse 7? 19:25 "After this I saw in the night visions, 19:28 and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, 19:31 exceedingly strong. 19:33 It had huge iron teeth, 19:35 it was devouring, breaking in pieces, 19:38 and trampling the residue with its feet. 19:40 It was different from all the beasts 19:42 that were before it, and it had ten horns." 19:46 That sounds like a very scary beast. 19:48 Aunty Leah, 19:49 could you please show us a picture of this, 19:52 artist's depiction of the beast. 19:54 The fourth kingdom represented the cruel Roman Empire. 19:59 Can you see the similarity between this 20:02 and King Nebuchadnezzar's dream? 20:04 Yes! Yes. 20:06 Now, Daniel gazed in astonishment 20:08 as something happened to the ten horns. 20:11 Bethany, can you please read verse 8? 20:15 "I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, 20:17 a little one, coming up among them, 20:20 before whom three of the first horns 20:23 were plucked out by the roots. 20:25 And there, in this horn, 20:26 were eyes like the eyes of a man, 20:28 and a mouth speaking pompous words." 20:30 See, Aunty Leah's picture. 20:32 In the dream, Daniel is given more detailed information 20:36 about the feet and toes in Nebuchadnezzar's dream. 20:40 The Roman Empire broke up into ten main kingdoms 20:43 like the ten toes in Nebuchadnezzar's dream. 20:46 Then the little horn power grew stronger 20:49 and destroyed three of the other kingdoms. 20:53 This power is described as pompous or self-important, 20:58 arrogant, and bossy. 21:00 In verses 24 to 26, the angel explains to Daniel 21:04 that the little horn power would become 21:06 a terrible political 21:08 and religious persecuting power. 21:11 And we know from the Book of Revelation 21:13 that this power will continue to fight 21:15 against God's commandment keeping people 21:18 right until Jesus returns. 21:20 It will try to destroy everyone 21:22 who worships God on the true Sabbath Saturday, 21:26 the seventh day of the week. 21:28 This power sets up a false Sabbath 21:31 and tries to force everyone 21:33 to worship on another day of the week instead. 21:36 Just as the vision becomes quiet disturbing, 21:38 the scene changes from the wild foaming sea 21:42 to a glorious scene 21:44 as though Daniel were looking into heaven. 21:46 Verse 9 says, Daniel saw God, 21:49 the Ancient of Days sitting on a glorious throne 21:53 with countless thousands of angels around Him. 21:56 The scene looked like a huge courtroom with books open, 22:00 listing the deeds of the people and rulers. 22:03 So a judgment took place and sentence was pronounced 22:08 on all of those 22:10 who have not repented of the evil deeds 22:12 they've committed. 22:14 Caleb, could you please read verse 11? 22:19 "I watched then because of the sound 22:21 of the pompous words 22:23 which the horn was speaking, 22:25 I watched till the beast was slain, 22:27 and its body destroyed 22:29 and given to the burning flame." 22:31 We read here, that the evil little horn power 22:34 that warred against God is destroyed too. 22:38 Then the scene changed again. 22:40 Jesus, one like the Son of man comes to God. 22:45 God honors Jesus, 22:46 who conquered sin, Satan, and death 22:49 so we could have eternal life. 22:51 Bryce, please read verse 14? 22:55 "Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom 22:59 that all people, nations, and languages should serve Him. 23:02 His dominion is an everlasting dominion, 23:04 which shall not pass away, 23:06 and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed." 23:10 Do you remember 23:11 what the stone cut out without hands 23:14 in Nebuchadnezzar's dream represented? 23:17 Jesus. 23:18 Jesus' kingdom, that's right. 23:20 This verse repeats that part of King Nebuchadnezzar's dream. 23:24 All the wicked persecuting powers 23:26 are destroyed 23:27 and Jesus sets up His eternal kingdom of peace. 23:31 Do you want to be part 23:33 of that glorious everlasting kingdom, 23:35 where Jesus is the King of kings? 23:37 Yes! 23:38 Yes, I do too. 23:40 But our loyalty to God will once again be tested, 23:44 just before Jesus returns to set up His kingdom. 23:47 The little horn power 23:49 will try to force everyone on earth 23:50 to worship on a false Sabbath. 23:53 We need to remember 23:54 how God delivered Daniel and his friends 23:57 when they refused to disobey God's Ten Commandments. 24:00 There's a lot to think about in this chapter, 24:03 isn't there? 24:04 If you want to have another look 24:05 at these animal kingdoms, 24:07 download the devotional 24:08 that goes with today's Bible study. 24:10 Here's how... 24:15 What do you want? 24:17 You bored? 24:18 Yes. 24:20 Look what I got. 24:23 Whoa! 24:25 Look at that! Cool. 24:26 Where did you get this? 24:29 adaywiththeking.com. 24:32 Uncle Daniel, what are we gonna learn about next week? 24:36 Well, next week 24:37 we're going to learn about another animal dream. 24:40 I think, God must know how much we like animals. 24:43 God gave Daniel another prophetic dream 24:45 using animals as symbols. 24:48 It tells of the future right down to our day. 24:52 So it's a prophecy not to be missed. 24:56 It's amazing how the Bible even relates to our time. 24:59 It is. 25:01 It's memory verse time, 25:02 follow along with us so you can learn it too. 25:05 Ready everyone? 25:06 "Surely the Lord God does nothing, 25:10 unless He reveals His secret 25:13 to His servants the prophets." 25:15 Amos 3:7. 25:18 You know, God has given us lots and lots of information 25:21 especially for our day 25:23 through His servant Mrs. Ellen White, 25:25 to help us, to prepare us for what's ahead. 25:28 Janina, what did you learn about the King today? 25:31 The bad things in this world will soon end 25:35 because Jesus will set up His kingdom forever. 25:38 Amen. 25:40 You're right. 25:41 We live in an amazing time in earth's history 25:43 where nearly every prophecy 25:45 in the Bible has been fulfilled, 25:48 which means that Jesus is coming again 25:51 very, very soon. 25:54 Aunty Leah, is it time for our blessing song? 25:56 Yes it is. 25:58 Ready everyone? 26:03 May God bless you and keep you 26:08 And fill your heart with love 26:13 May God guide and protect you 26:18 And watch you from above 26:24 And Sabbath after Sabbath 26:29 We greet the day of rest 26:34 The day the King of glory 26:39 Has sanctified and blessed 26:44 Goodbye my friend till we meet again 26:49 For another day with the King 26:54 Goodbye! 26:56 Happy Sabbath! 27:05 I know Jesus loves me because He first loved me. 27:14 I know Jesus loves me 27:16 because He's coming to take me home with Him. 27:24 I know Jesus loves me because He died for me. |
