00:02 Hello there. Happy Sabbath.
00:04 Come on in. 00:05 We're about to meet with the King. 00:42 Hello and welcome to our opening Sabbath worship time. 00:45 I'm Aunty Leah. 00:47 And it's so special that we are coming together 00:49 from all around the world 00:50 to celebrate the commencement of another Sabbath day. 00:54 We have our team here 00:55 to help out lead in our worship, 00:57 and we appreciate your contributions very much. 00:59 And it's always a delight to have you here with us, 01:01 Uncle Daniel. 01:03 Hello, Aunty Leah. 01:04 I love the Sabbath. 01:05 You know, we would wear out 01:07 if we didn't rest in Jesus each seventh day. 01:10 Yes, we would. 01:12 The Sabbath refreshes us physically and spiritually. 01:15 Is there anyone that can share with us something that you did 01:18 that was kind for someone else this week? 01:21 I got Mom's breakfast for her this morning. 01:23 Oh, that's so lovely, Chemiah. 01:26 Now we're gonna start our worship time with prayer. 01:28 Who would like to do that? 01:30 I would. Thanks, Jeremiah. 01:32 Dear Lord, please come into our hearts. 01:35 Help us hear Your voice as we worship You. 01:38 In Jesus' name, amen. 01:40 Thanks, Jeremiah. 01:42 Aunty Leah, I've had a peep 01:44 and I know that you have something very interesting 01:47 to share for us this week. 01:49 Yes, I do. 01:50 Have you ever heard the saying, "Seeing is believing"? 01:54 Well, that means, if you see something, 01:56 you know it's true. 01:58 Well, let's open our jewel box 01:59 and find out what our Bible gem says about this. 02:03 Who would like to do that? I would. 02:05 Go. Okay, Chemiah. 02:12 Wow! That's another lovely one. 02:14 What does the Bible text say? 02:20 2 Peter 1:19-20. 02:24 Jireh, would you please read some parts of that verse? 02:31 "And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, 02:35 which you do well to heed 02:36 as a light that shines in a dark place. 02:39 Knowing this first that no prophecy of scripture 02:43 is of any private interpretation." 02:46 The King James Version says 02:48 that we have a more sure word of prophecy. 02:52 The Apostle Peter, who wrote this, 02:54 had seen Jesus in all His heavenly glory 02:57 on the mount 02:59 when He was with Moses and Elijah. 03:01 That was a pretty convincing and spectacular sight. 03:04 But Peter says that prophecy is even more reliable 03:08 or more sure than even that. 03:10 Why would he say something like that 03:12 about prophecy? 03:14 Chemiah, would you please retrieve the clue 03:16 out of our jewel box? 03:21 "Beware! 03:22 Don't be deceived by false prophets 03:24 or false teachers." 03:26 In Matthew 24:24, 03:28 Jesus warned the disciples 03:30 that false Christs and false prophets 03:33 will rise and share great signs and wonders 03:36 and deceive if possible, even the elect, 03:39 those who'd claim to follow Jesus. 03:42 Let me show you how your eyes can trick you. 03:44 Have a quick look at this picture 03:45 and tell me how many columns you see? 03:49 Three. Three. Three. Three. Three. 03:51 This is what they call an impossible picture. 03:54 It is a trick or an illusion. 03:56 It tries to make you believe something 03:58 on the basis of what you see. 04:00 But in reality, it's impossible. 04:02 You could not build something like this. 04:04 It is drawn to trick your eyes and your mind. 04:07 Likewise, the signs and wonders Satan does 04:10 are designed to trick people into believing him. 04:14 Satan will impersonate Jesus. 04:17 He will appear to miraculously heal sick people. 04:20 When he tells people the Sabbath day 04:23 has been changed to Sunday, 04:24 we will know that it's a deception. 04:27 So remember, 04:28 prophecy is more reliable than even our eyesight. 04:32 If we study our Bible and obey God's Word, 04:35 through the power of the Holy Spirit, 04:37 we need never be deceived. 04:39 Thank you, Aunty Leah. 04:41 It's amazing how easily our eyes can deceive us. 04:45 The only safe way is to trust God's Word. 04:49 Uncle Daniel, Braedan's here. 04:52 Yes, he is. 04:53 Thank you, Braedan, for joining us. 04:55 Well, Uncle Daniel, it is good to be here. 04:58 I hear that you're studying the Book of Esther. 05:02 We've got a song here called "Brave Esther," 05:03 and I hope that you can sing it with me. 05:10 Brave Esther was a royal Queen In Persia long ago 05:15 She never said she was a Jew The people did not know 05:20 A wicked man named Haman Wanted all the Jews to die 05:25 So Cousin Mordecai then told the queen And heard her cry 05:30 My people will all perish If I don't do anything 05:34 If I perish, then I perish But I must go to the King 05:39 It may be I have come Into the kingdom for this hour 05:44 We'll fast and pray and pray and fast 05:46 And conquer by God's pow'r 05:50 She held a banquet for the King And told of Haman's plan 05:55 To kill the Jews, her people And to rid them from the land 05:59 The King hung Haman and declared 06:02 The Jews could stand and fight 06:04 Brave Esther saved her people 06:06 'Cause she stood for what was right 06:09 My people will all perish If I don't do anything 06:13 If I perish, then I perish But I must go to the King 06:18 It may be I have come Into the kingdom for this hour 06:23 We'll fast and pray and pray and fast 06:25 And conquer by God's pow'r 06:29 Braedan, can we please sing the prophecy theme song? 06:32 Oh, yeah, we can. 06:33 It's so exciting that you guys are learning about prophecy. 06:36 It's just amazing stuff. Let's sing together. 06:44 Prophecy is history Told ahead of time 06:48 God is good He's so good 06:52 God reveals the future To build your faith and mine 06:56 In His word, in His word 07:01 Prophecy is history Told ahead of time 07:05 Thank You, Lord Thank You, Lord 07:10 Prayerfully dig deep 07:11 And the truth you'll always find 07:14 In His Word In His Word 07:20 Braedan, can we please sing 07:22 the "This is the day that Lord has made?" 07:23 We can. 07:25 Since this is Sabbath, that's a good song to choose. 07:33 This is the day the Lord has made 07:38 He calls this day His own 07:42 Let us be glad and welcome Him 07:47 This Sabbath to our home 07:51 Let us be glad and welcome Him 07:56 This Sabbath to our home 08:02 Thanks, Braedan. 08:03 I like learning new Sabbath songs. 08:06 Now it's story time again with Dr. John. 08:10 Hello, boys and girls. I'm Dr. John. 08:12 And I'm so glad to see you. 08:14 And I'm so glad to see the boys and girls 08:16 right around the world who are watching with us. 08:20 I want to tell you the story of a very brave lady, 08:25 and her name was Rosa Parks. 08:28 Does she look sweet and gentle? 08:30 And she was. 08:31 And she got arrested just because she was on a bus. 08:38 You see, she lived in Montgomery, Alabama, 08:42 and they had laws in those days. 08:45 It wasn't that long ago. 08:47 That if you were a colored person, 08:49 a black person, 08:51 an African-American and you were sitting on a bus 08:55 and a white person got on, you had to give them your seat. 09:00 And if there were no seats left, 09:03 you had to stand. 09:06 And if all the standing room was full, you had to get off. 09:10 You know, she was just a young girl. 09:13 And she got on a bus one day, 09:14 and the driver's name was James Blake. 09:19 He said, "You've got to get off this door 09:20 and go back around 09:22 the black people's door at the back." 09:25 It was raining. She got out. 09:28 She walked to the back of the bus, 09:29 and the driver shut the doors and drove off. 09:33 She never forgot that. 09:35 She wasn't angry because she was determined. 09:39 And a few years later, she got on a bus. 09:43 And who do you think was the driver? 09:47 It was James Blake. 09:50 And she sat down. 09:53 And after a while, a white person got on. 09:57 He said, "You get up the back of the bus." 10:01 This time, 10:03 she was 10 years older and she was a young lady, 10:06 and she said, "No." 10:10 "Get up the back." 10:13 "No, I paid for the seat." 10:16 "Get up the back or I will call the police." 10:21 "Call the police." 10:23 And he did. She was taken. 10:26 She was arrested, fingerprinted, handcuffed, 10:30 put in jail. 10:32 She wasn't there long, but all her friends, 10:36 all the black people among comrade, 10:38 they decided, they had a meeting. 10:41 They said, "We will go on strike 10:44 and we will not get on any bus. 10:47 We will walk." 10:48 You know, some of them walked 50 kilometers to work 10:53 rather than ride on the bus. 10:56 How long do you think the strike lasted? 10:58 A day? A week? 11:00 Three hundred and eighty-one days. 11:04 And they had to sell the buses. 11:06 The bus company closed. 11:08 And finally, they changed their mind. 11:11 And they said, "A black person, 11:13 if they have paid for their ticket, 11:15 can sit anywhere on the bus." 11:18 It was one of the most important law changes 11:22 ever in America. 11:23 And, you know, she lived a long time until she was 92. 11:28 And she became so respected. 11:32 This little girl who hardly got through primary school, 11:35 she got the Presidential Medal of Freedom. 11:38 She got the Congressional Gold Medal. 11:41 She was given a doctorate from 24 universities. 11:45 I haven't got a doctorate from one university. 11:49 And the day that she died, 11:53 the President of the United States said, 11:55 "I want every flag in the country 11:59 on the day of her funeral to go to half-staff." 12:03 That's a sign of mourning. 12:06 And this little girl who had the courage to say, 12:11 "I will not get off the bus," 12:12 reminds me of somebody 12:14 you will study about in your Bible study, 12:18 one of my favorite people in all the Bible. 12:21 It was a girl. 12:23 She was young. She became a queen. 12:26 And I'm wondering if somebody can tell me her name. 12:29 Esther. Esther, right. 12:32 And, you know, she said once when she had to risk your life, 12:37 "I will do this for my people," and the famous words, 12:40 "If I perish, I perish. I will do it for my people." 12:45 You know, when we get to the kingdom, 12:47 I'm looking forward to meeting brave Rosa Parks. 12:51 She was a wonderful person. 12:53 God bless you. Thank you. 12:56 Wasn't that a good story by Dr. John? 12:59 Yes. Yes. 13:00 And now it's time for our Bible study. 13:02 So, Jireh, could you please start us off with a prayer? 13:05 Sure. 13:06 Dear God, please be with us as we learn more about You. 13:11 Please help us to understand what we read. 13:13 In Jesus' name, amen. 13:14 Amen. Amen. 13:16 Sai, do you remember 13:17 what we learned about last week? 13:19 King Cyrus freed the Jewish captives. 13:22 Yes. 13:24 And today, we'll learn about God's wonderful deliverance 13:26 when the Jewish people were in danger. 13:29 Let's open our Bibles to the Book of Esther, 13:32 a couple of books before Psalms. 13:34 Even though King Cyrus freed the Jewish people 13:38 to return voluntarily to their homeland, 13:40 the majority of them remained comfortably 13:42 in the Medo-Persian Kingdom. 13:44 A number of kings followed Cyrus, 13:47 including King Xerxes the Great, 13:49 who is known in the Bible as King Ahasuerus. 13:53 He lived in a fabulous palace in Shushan, 13:56 the capital of the Persian Empire. 13:59 One day, the king through a lavish 14:01 seven-day party for all the princes 14:03 and nobles of his empire. 14:06 Lots of wine was consumed. 14:08 When drunk, he summoned his wife Queen Vashti. 14:11 He wanted to show off her beauty 14:13 and her spectacular jeweled crown. 14:16 But she refused to enter his drunken party. 14:19 To disobey the king was unheard of. 14:22 He was so angry. 14:23 He banished her and looked for another 14:26 even more beautiful queen. 14:28 The fairest young women in the land were selected 14:31 for the king to choose from. 14:33 Among them was Esther, 14:36 a Jewish girl whose mother and father had died 14:39 when she was little. 14:40 She had been brought up by Mordecai, her older cousin. 14:44 He was like a father to her. 14:46 Bethany, could you please read Esther 2:17? 14:50 And tell us how the king felt when he saw Esther? 14:55 "The king loved Esther more than all the other women, 14:58 and she obtained grace and favor in his sight 15:00 more than all the virgins. 15:02 So he set the royal crown upon her head 15:04 and made her queen instead of Vashti." 15:07 The new Queen Esther did not tell the king 15:09 she was Jewish 15:10 because Mordecai told her not to reveal that information. 15:14 Mordecai spent a lot of time at the palace gates 15:18 so he could find out how Esther was getting along. 15:21 One day, he overheard two palace doorkeepers 15:24 plotting to murder the king. 15:26 Mordecai sent a message to Esther, 15:29 who passed on Mordecai's warning to the king. 15:32 The doorkeepers were hanged 15:33 and Mordecai's name was written in the king's record book 15:37 because he saved the king's life. 15:39 Now second-in-command to the king was a wealthy man 15:42 called Haman. 15:43 Everybody bowed when Haman passed by, 15:46 except Mordecai who worshiped 15:49 only the true God. 15:50 Haman hated Mordecai so much. 15:52 He tricked the king into signing a law 15:55 that on a certain date, every Jew in the kingdom, 15:58 including Mordecai, would be killed. 16:01 Mordecai informed Esther about the terrible law 16:05 and told her to plead with the king 16:07 on behalf of the people, the Jews. 16:10 But it wasn't that simple. 16:12 Caleb, could you please read Esther's reply in Esther 4:11? 16:17 "All the king's servants 16:19 and the people of the king's provinces 16:21 know that any man or woman 16:23 who goes into the inner court to the king, 16:25 who has not been called, 16:27 he has but one law. 16:28 Put all to death, except the one whom the king 16:31 holds out the golden scepter, that he may live." 16:34 So Esther could die if she went to the king 16:38 without an invitation, even though he was her husband. 16:41 Bryce, can you read Mordecai's fatherly 16:44 but very direct reply in Esther 4:13-14? 16:49 "Do not think in your heart 16:50 that you will escape in the king's palace any more 16:53 than all the other Jews. 16:55 For if you remain completely silent at this time, 16:58 relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews 17:00 from another place, 17:02 but you and your father's house will perish. 17:04 Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom 17:07 for such a time as this?" 17:09 Mordecai taught Esther as a child to trust God 17:12 and call upon Him for help in time of need. 17:15 In Esther 4:16, we learned she did just that. 17:19 Jireh, would you please read Esther's message to Mordecai? 17:26 "Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, 17:29 and fast for me. 17:30 Neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. 17:35 My maids and I will fast likewise. 17:39 And so I will go to the king, which is against the law, 17:44 and if I perish, I perish!" 17:46 That kind of courage only comes from God. 17:49 Mordecai did as Esther asked. 17:52 After three days of prayer and fasting, 17:55 Queen Esther put on her royal robes 17:58 and stood in the inner court of the king's palace, 18:01 where he could see her. 18:02 And see how he did. 18:05 Jeremiah, please reach up to Esther 5:2. 18:11 "So it was, when the king saw 18:13 Queen Esther standing in the court, 18:15 that she found favor in his sight, 18:17 and the king held up to Esther the golden scepter 18:20 that was in his hand. 18:22 Then Esther went near 18:23 and touched the top of the scepter." 18:26 Phew, what a miracle! 18:29 In fact, the king was in an amazingly good mood 18:32 that day. 18:33 Sai, could you please read Esther 5:3? 18:37 "And the king said to her, 18:39 'What do you wish, Queen Esther? 18:41 What is your request? 18:43 It shall be given to you up to half the kingdom!'" 18:46 Now a super generous offer like that 18:50 might have seemed like the perfect opportunity 18:53 to plead for her life and the life of her people. 18:56 But no, God had put a plan in her mind. 19:00 Aunty Leah, could you please read Esther 5:4? 19:04 "So Esther answered, 'If it pleases the king, 19:06 let the king and Haman come today to the banquet 19:09 that I have prepared for him.'" 19:11 So the king and Haman had a delightful time 19:14 with Esther at the banquet, 19:15 and she invited them back the following day. 19:18 Haman went home bragging about how privileged 19:21 and important he was to be the only guest 19:25 with the king and queen. 19:26 But his hatred of Mordecai overshadowed everything. 19:30 Haman's wife and friends suggested he build gallows 19:33 to hang Mordecai on, which he quickly erected. 19:36 As for the king, he couldn't sleep that night. 19:39 So he commanded that the book of records be read to him. 19:43 The king learned that nothing had been done 19:45 to honor Mordecai for saving his life. 19:48 Bethany, could you please read Esther 6:6? 19:52 And we will read Esther 6:10. 19:56 "So Haman came in, and the king asked him, 19:58 'What shall be done for the man whom 20:00 the king delights to honor?' 20:02 Now Haman thought in his heart, 20:04 'Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?'" 20:07 And, Caleb, can you please read Esther 6:7-8? 20:11 "And Haman answered the king, 20:13 'For the man whom the king delights to honor, 20:16 let a royal robe be brought which the king has worn, 20:19 and a horse on which the king has ridden, 20:21 which has a royal crest placed on his head.'" 20:25 And, Bryce, could you read Esther 6:9? 20:29 "'Then let this robe and the horse be delivered 20:32 to the hand of one of the king's 20:34 most noble princes 20:36 that he may array the man whom king delights to honor. 20:39 Then parade him on horseback through the city square, 20:43 and proclaim before him. 20:44 Thus shall it be done to the man 20:46 whom the king delights to honor!'" 20:48 And Jireh, Esther 6:10. 20:51 "Then the king said to Haman, 20:53 'Hurry, take the robe and the horse 20:55 as you have suggested, 20:56 and do so for Mordecai the Jew who sits 20:59 within the king's gate! 21:02 Leave nothing undone of all that you have spoken.'" 21:06 How do you think Haman felt 21:09 as he led Mordecai in honor around the city? 21:12 His hatred for Mordecai was greater than ever. 21:16 Later that day, Haman and the king 21:18 attended Queen Esther's banquet again. 21:21 The king asked Esther her petition. 21:23 Pointing to Haman, 21:25 Queen Esther told the king all about Haman's wicked plot 21:28 to destroy her people. 21:30 The king ordered Haman to be hanged on the gallows 21:32 he built for Mordecai. 21:34 Because the king's law could not be revoked, 21:37 he approved another law which allowed the Jews 21:40 to defend themselves. 21:41 So the Jews were saved. 21:43 In fact, many people became Jews 21:45 because they were afraid of the Jews taking vengeance 21:48 on their enemies. 21:50 Mordecai became second-in-command to the king, 21:53 and all the Jews rejoiced. 21:55 How is the story relevant for us today? 21:58 Well, let's have a look at our torchlight, 22:01 Mrs. White's writings in Prophets and Kings, 22:04 page 605. 22:06 She shines more important light on a similar decree 22:10 that will be made at the end of time, 22:13 possibly in our lifetime. 22:15 Jeremiah, could you read that for us, please? 22:21 "The decree that will finally go forth 22:23 against the remnant people of God will be very similar 22:27 to that issued by Ahasuerus against the Jews. 22:31 Today, the enemies of the true church 22:34 see in the little company 22:35 keeping the Sabbath commandment, 22:37 a Mordecai at the gate. 22:39 Legislators will yield to the demand for Sunday laws." 22:44 Our memory verse promises God will protect us 22:47 even when laws are passed forcing us 22:50 under threat of punishment 22:51 or even death to worship on Sunday 22:54 instead of the seventh day 22:56 Sabbath of the fourth commandment. 22:58 Let's read 2 Kings 17:39 together. 23:05 Are we ready? 23:06 "But the Lord your God You shall fear, 23:10 and He will deliver you 23:12 from the hand of all your enemies." 23:15 Amen. 23:16 To fear God is to show respect and reverence and to obey Him. 23:22 Memorize this wonderful promise and you need never feel afraid. 23:26 Keep watching to find out how to obtain 23:28 the daily devotionals related to our Bible study. 23:36 What do you want? 23:37 Are you bored? Yes. 23:40 Look what I got. 23:43 Whoa! 23:45 Look at that! Cool. 23:47 Where did you get these? 23:49 ADayWithTheKing.com. 23:53 Thank you, Matthew and Caleigh. 23:55 Uncle Daniel, 23:56 what are we going to learn about next week? 23:59 You know, 24:00 God has His faithful men and women, 24:03 boys and girls in every age. 24:05 We're going to learn about some ordinary people 24:08 just like you and me, 24:10 who did some extraordinary things for the Lord. 24:13 And we will find out how God mightily blessed their work. 24:17 It's a story that energizes me and gives me great hope. 24:21 We all need stories like that. 24:23 Well, I'm sure next week's story 24:25 will encourage you to keep going, 24:28 even when things get tough. 24:30 Let's say our memory verse again so we can learn it. 24:33 You can say it with us. 24:35 "But the Lord Your God 24:37 you shall fear and He will deliver you 24:41 from the hand of all your enemies." 24:44 2 Kings 17:39. 24:48 We should fear God, that is, we should love, 24:50 respect, and reverence Him, and hate evil, just as He does. 24:55 Jireh, what did you learn about the king today? 24:58 That God will deliver me out of trouble 25:00 if I call on Him with all my heart. 25:01 Yes. 25:03 He loves it when we ask Him for help, 25:05 and He loves to help us too. 25:07 We're going to sing our blessing song. 25:09 Join us if you want to. 25:11 Ready, everyone? 25:17 May God bless you and keep you 25:22 And fill your heart with love 25:27 May God guide and protect you 25:33 And watch you from above 25:38 And Sabbath after Sabbath 25:43 We greet the day of rest 25:48 The day the king of glory 25:53 Has sanctified and blessed 25:58 Goodbye, my friend, till we meet again 26:04 For another day with the King 26:09 Goodbye! Happy Sabbath! 26:20 I know Jesus loves me because He first loved me. 26:30 I know Jesus loves me because He's coming 26:32 to take me home with Him. 26:39 I know Jesus loves me because He died for me. |
