15:13 So, these two college girls are living together, Megan and Samantha, and Samantha has a
15:18 little girl named Hannah. Hannah is about 2 or 3 years of age, okay?

16:04 He can whistle tunes. "The Andy Griffith Show," the iconic tune, he can whistle the
16:10 whole tune. He's just a very smart parrot named Willie, okay?
16:15 So, Mama's gone. Megan says, "Okay, Hannah, sit right here because I'm gonna get

22:34 "He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly

22:40 there. What do we know about Naaman?
22:41 He was commander of the Syrian armies.
22:43 Was he a five-star general like General Dwight D. Eisenhower, whom we all remembered this last
22:50 week as we celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Normandy invasion?
22:55 Was he a five-star general? We don't know. Highly respected, great man,
23:02 outstanding citizen in his country, but the story immediately becomes conflicted,
23:07 because I want you to catch the next line. Look at this.
23:10 So, he's all of that. "He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly
23:15 regarded, because through him --" that would be this thoroughly thoroughbred
23:21 five-star pagan general named Naaman -- "through him the Lord --" and that would be the
23:28 Lord God Yahweh, the covenant-creator God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
23:34 Through the pagan, the God of Israel did what? Had given victory to Syria.
23:42 [ Chuckles ] "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
23:48 And that's what's going on here. And we're kind of saying, "Oh, well, good.

23:55 Oh, the question really becomes conflicted and very touchy when we ask the question, "Did Syria
24:00 take care of Israel?" And, yes, it did. Sometimes, "The enemy of my
24:05 enemy is my friend" means that God will take His people who are living in a morally corrupt
24:11 culture and who have unwittingly turned to the gods and goddesses of that culture, He'll have to
24:18 take an enemy to get their attention and draw them back from the downward spiral they
24:23 are on spiritually. That's what's going on here. Hey, listen, with ancient
24:29 Babylon, did God use Babylon to kind of turn Israel around? Oh, yes, He did.
24:34 Question -- will God use modern Babylon -- and everybody knows who the modern Babylon is --
24:39 will God use modern Babylon to do the same, to withdraw his people from a morally bankrupt
24:44 culture that they have gotten sucked into and have forgotten they are exiles of the
24:48 Most High God? Will God do it again? Hmm.
24:53 2 Kings 5:1, again. "Now Naaman was commander of the
24:57 army of the king of Syria. He was a great man in the sight
25:01 of his master and highly regarded, because through him
25:04 the Lord had given victory to Syria.
25:06 He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy."
25:12 Ohh, no. The dreaded scourge of the Middle East, the incurable
25:18 scourge of Naaman's generation. That five-star general, with all the credentials in the world,
25:25 can't stop leprosy from conquering him, and he's got it. And the plot thickens because,
25:31 as it turns out, that Naaman, in one of his terrorist attacks on Israel, had a guerilla band that
25:38 pounced on a hapless Israelite village, grabbing a bunch of the kids.
25:45 They disappear into the night. And Naaman gets first pick. So he takes that little girl
25:50 right there from that village -- "And she will be the slave of my lovely wife."
25:58 What is Naaman's wife's name? Mrs. Naaman. [ Laughter ]

26:17 We do not know. All we know is this -- that she is now the captive slave of the
26:23 hated [Spits] Syrian general and his wife. That's what we know.
26:29 She has every right to sabotage her mistress and master whenever she can.
26:33 "Some sort of odious assignment is being given to me, a child of God?"
26:38 She could've just thrown a tizzy fit and said, "I won't do it." But God bless her parents,
26:44 whoever they were, because they did not raise an urchin. My folks threatened that I was
26:49 becoming fast an urchin. You don't know what an urchin is, but, back then, they did.
26:55 She was a courteous girl. She was a polite girl. She was an obedient girl who
27:02 knew well the religion of her family and knew the God of her family religion.
27:10 Oh, my. Let's put these words from "Prophets and Kings" on the

28:04 how would our children...behave? Would our children, like this little Jewish maiden, be loyal,

28:48 this grandchild that I'm concerned about? What shall we do?
28:51 [ Chuckles, sighs ] Well, I would say -- you say to me, "I'll take advantage of

29:17 church-school." Well, that's good, too. That's a great strategy.
29:23 We have a little store right across the street up here called the ABC Christian bookstore.
29:30 There are shelves of books for children that you can go, Papa, and take some of your
29:34 hard-earned money, and you put it down, and you say, "I want that book, that book, that book,
29:37 and that book." Why? Because you're gonna read these
29:40 stories to your children every night when they go to bed. You're putting something in
29:43 their minds every night. This little maiden, I don't know what her parents did with her,
29:48 but she is unflinching in her loyalty to the God of her father and mother.
29:54 Mm. Verse 2. Come on. "Now bands of raiders from Syria
29:57 had gone out and had taken captive a young girl from
30:00 Israel, and she served Naaman's wife.
30:02 And she said to her mistress, 'Aw, if only my master would see

30:17 "I wish you knew my God and the prophet that works for my God, because if you did, your husband
30:23 would be healed of leprosy." That was it. [ Scoffs ]
30:30 Instead of wishing her master ill, she wishes him well. And it touches the heart of
30:36 Mrs. Naaman. I mean, the little girl could've prayed that her God would curse

30:45 But, instead, she tears a page from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount

31:39 my time. I'm not gonna witness to this guy.
31:41 He's gone." Who am I to make that judgment? If God is no respecter of
31:48 persons, why would I suddenly become a respecter of persons? That's crazy.
31:56 She's in a pagan home with a polytheistic, heathen master and mistress.
32:06 And the little girl raises her hand and says, "Ooh. [ Breathes shakily ] I wish you
32:11 knew my God." She's in exile. Hey, guess what, folks.
32:16 Guess what. By very definition -- Do you know what the word "exile"
32:20 means? It means you live in the land of the captor.
32:23 You're not at home. We are not at home. We are living right now in the
32:28 land of the captor. The prince of evil, the prince of the world, self-styled,
32:32 declares, "This is my place." We're in his place right now. We're exiles, all of us.
32:42 Just like that little maiden, I guess we just say a word. "Oh, I wish you knew my God, who
32:48 could help you, who could heal you. I wish you knew Him, who loves
32:53 you like I do." Verse 4. So, the little girl gives a
33:02 testimony to Mrs. Naaman, Mrs. Naaman gives it to Mr. Naaman, and Mr. Naaman --
33:06 verse 4 -- "went to his master and told him what the girl from Israel had said."
33:11 Now, hold on. Do you understand what's happening here?
33:14 Because this is what happens to simple testimonies. They simply get passed on.
33:20 The world is so faithless today, this godless, faithless culture that we live in is hungry for
33:26 faith, it is hungry for God, and if somebody raises her hand and said, "Excuse me, can I say
33:35 something?" just like a parched desert, the world would drink it up, and that little testimony
33:42 would get passed on from person to person to person. You have no idea where your
33:46 testimony is going. Once it's out of your lips, don't worry about it.
33:51 But Naaman goes to the king. [ Inhales deeply ] Ohh. Unbelievable.
33:57 Listen, you'll never know where your testimony ends up, but I'll make this promise to you right

34:05 nowhere. Nowhere. Because you didn't open your
34:10 mouth. You got to share it. Guess what. Never forget.
34:14 Never forget this. Let's go to boxing now. Come on, everybody knows boxing.
34:17 One-two punch. One, two! Okay?
34:19 So it could be a right-left, or it could be a left-right. Isn't that what they call it?
34:23 A one-two punch. You are the one-two punch, but you're the one.
34:27 Your testimony is the first punch, and, right behind you comes the Holy Spirit with his
34:33 convicting, convincing power. He could do it Himself, but He needs the first punch.
34:40 One-two! Sorry to make this into martial arts, but anybody want to come

35:00 One-two! Hmm. And even when it appears that
35:06 your testimony has fallen on deaf ears and you're being blown off or ignored, never forget the
35:13 words of Sidlow Baxter. Aw, I wish you could scribble this down fast enough and have
35:16 it in your Bible like I have it in my Bible. I carry this with me in all my

35:46 They can spurn you and blow you out of the water and just say, "Psh!"
35:51 But they can't resist what you unleash through your praying. Ah, my.
35:58 The power of an exile's prayer to back up the power of an exile's testimony.
36:02 Don't you think that little Israelite maiden is praying for General Naaman every single day
36:07 to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Of course she is.
36:11 Because when people go through flux, when people go through radical change, suddenly now

37:26 So it bears repeating -- God really does business with pagans.

37:42 And now here comes King Ben-Hadad.

42:07 verse 14 -- "and he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan

43:03 water -- [ Gurgling ] And when he comes up, there's
43:09 water pouring all down him. And when Naaman looks down on his arms...
