00:21 Hello, and welcome again to Praise.
00:23 I am Kelly Mowrer. 00:25 In Psalms, David wrote, 00:27 "As the deer panteth for the water, 00:30 so my soul longeth after you. 00:34 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God. 00:38 Notice the strong intense words, David used there. 00:42 He didn't say, Oh from time to time 00:44 my mind turns to God. 00:46 He said I long for Him, I thirst for Him. 00:50 And during our time together today, 00:52 we are going to meditate on how we can know Him better. 00:56 How we can surrender more fully to Him? 01:00 How we can become more and more like Him? 01:14 Teach me, Father, 01:20 what to say 01:24 Teach me, Father, 01:29 how to pray 01:34 Teach me 01:37 along the way 01:44 How to be 01:48 like Jesus 01:57 Teach me 02:00 how we may be one 02:06 Like the Father 02:11 and the Son 02:15 I will always 02:21 overcome 02:25 I will be like 02:31 Jesus 02:38 Lord, make me like You 02:43 Please make me like You 02:49 You are a servant 02:53 Make me one too 03:00 Oh Lord, 03:02 I am willing 03:05 to what you must do 03:10 To make me like You, Lord 03:16 Make me like 03:19 You 03:24 I would be 03:29 like Jesus 03:34 I would be 03:37 like Jesus 03:43 Help me, Lord, 03:47 to daily grow 03:53 More and more 03:58 like Jesus 04:38 All to Jesus I surrender 04:46 All to Him I freely give 04:51 I will ever love and trust Him 04:59 In His presence daily live 05:04 I surrender all 05:11 I surrender all 05:18 All to Thee, my blessed Savior 05:25 I surrender all 05:36 All to Jesus I surrender 05:42 Make me Savior wholly thine 05:48 May Thy Holy Spirit fill me 05:55 May I know Thy power divine 06:01 I surrender all 06:08 I surrender all 06:14 All to Thee my blessed Savior 06:21 I surrender all 06:38 All to Jesus I surrender 06:45 Lord, I give myself to Thee 06:51 Fill me with Thy love and power 06:59 Let Thy blessings fall on me 07:05 I surrender all 07:11 I surrender all 07:18 All to Thee my blessed Savior 07:25 I surrender all 08:30 Would I know You now 08:36 If You walked into the room 08:41 If You stilled the crowd 08:46 If Your light dispelled the gloom 08:51 If I saw Your wounds 08:56 Touched Your thorn pierced brow 09:03 I wonder 09:04 if I'd know You now 09:12 Would I know You now 09:16 If You walked into this place 09:21 Would I cause You shame 09:25 Would my games be Your disgrace 09:29 Or would I worship You 09:35 Bow upon my face 09:41 I wonder 09:42 if I'd know You now 09:49 Have the images I painted so distorted who You are 09:57 That even if the world was looking 10:01 They could not see You, the real You 10:06 Have I changed the true reflection 10:10 To fulfill my own desire 10:14 Making You want, I want 10:17 Not showing You forth divine, 10:21 oh divine 10:29 Would I miss You now 10:36 If You left and closed the door 10:41 Would my flesh cry out 10:45 I don't need You anymore 10:50 Would I follow You 10:56 Could I be restored 11:01 Lord I wonder 11:06 Lord I wonder if I ever learn 11:12 I wonder if I'd know 11:16 You now 11:42 Sarah Flower Adams always wanted to be an actress. 11:47 But God had other plans for her. 11:49 Although she did get to play in Macbeth, 11:51 her career on the stage was cut short, 11:54 because of poor health. 11:56 And so she turned to writing. 11:58 Years later, passengers on board 12:01 the RMS Titanic, reported that as the ship sank 12:05 one of Sarah's best known hymns was played by the band. 12:09 Wallace Hartley, the ship's bandleader, 12:11 who like all the rest of the musicians 12:13 went down with the Titanic. 12:15 Had previously said that he wanted 12:16 that song played at his funeral. 12:19 And in 1901 as United States President 12:23 William Mckinley lay dying. 12:26 His last whispered words 12:28 with the first few lines of Sarah's hymn. 12:31 Nearer, my God to thee Nearer to thee 12:35 Even though it be a cross That raiseth me 12:39 Still all my prayer shall be 12:42 Nearer, my God, to thee Nearer to thee 17:22 O God, 17:25 Father of heaven and earth 17:33 I call to You like deep calls 17:39 to deep over water 17:47 Show me 17:50 Your endless measure of grace 17:58 Let tender mercies shine once again 18:05 From Your holy face 18:12 Deep in my heart there's a longing 18:18 To please the One 18:20 who has saved me 18:27 O God, 18:30 though I have wandered so far 18:38 You know that I'm still 18:42 A woman after Your own heart 18:58 I am driven 19:02 by rivers of pride 19:09 You are my rescue 19:13 The Maker and Keeper 19:16 of my life 19:23 Lead me 19:26 by the still waters again 19:34 Use me in spite of the prodigal child 19:41 That You know I am 19:48 Just as a deer runs to water 19:54 So does my soul 19:56 to You, Father 20:03 O God, 20:06 though I have wandered so far 20:14 You know that I'm still 20:19 A woman after Your own heart 20:54 Just as a deer runs to water 21:01 So does my soul 21:03 to You, Father 21:12 O God, 21:16 though I have wandered so far 21:24 You know that I'm still 21:29 A woman after Your own heart 21:41 I'm still 21:45 a woman after Your own heart 22:17 Mrs. Elizabeth Payson Prentiss, born in Portland, Maine, 22:21 in 1818, was known throughout her life 22:24 as a woman after God's heart. 22:27 She lived very closed to the Savior she loved. 22:30 Those who knew her best described her as 22:32 a bright-eyed little woman, with a keen sense of humor, 22:35 who cared more to shine in her own happy household 22:39 than in a wide circle of society. 22:41 Although Elizabeth was strong in spirit, 22:43 she was very frail in her body. 22:45 Throughout her life she was a near invalid, 22:48 hardly living even a moment free of pain. 22:52 She once wrote these words: 22:54 "I see now that to live for God, 22:57 whether one is allowed ability to be actively useful or not, 23:01 is a great thing, and that it is a wonderful mercy 23:05 to be allowed even to suffer, if thereby one can glorify Him." 23:11 On another occasion she wrote: 23:13 "To love Christ more is the deepest need, 23:17 the constant cry of my soul. 23:19 Out in the woods, and on my bed, 23:22 out driving, when I am happy and busy, 23:25 when I am sad and idle, the whisper keeps going up 23:29 for more love, more love, more love." 23:33 During the 1850's, while ministering to a church 23:36 in New York city the Prentiss' lost a child, 23:40 a short time later their youngest child also died. 23:44 For weeks, Elizabeth mourned so deeply 23:46 nothing could comfort her. 23:48 In her diary she wrote, "Empty hands, a worn-out, 23:51 exhausted body, and unutterable longings 23:55 to flee from a world that has so many sharp experiences." 24:01 From her broken heart came this touching poem. 24:04 "I thought that prattling boys and girls 24:07 Would fill this empty room 24:09 That my rich heart would gather flowers 24:11 From childhood's opening bloom 24:14 But one child and two green graves are mine 24:18 This is God's gift to me 24:21 A bleeding, fainting, broken heart 24:24 This is my gift to Thee." 24:27 During this period of unimaginable grief, 24:30 Mrs. Prentiss began meditating upon the story of Jacob. 24:34 How God met him in a very special way 24:37 during his moments of deepest sorrow and need. 24:41 One evening she sat down alone and wrote a song 24:44 that she didn't show to anyone, 24:45 not even her husband for the next 13 years. 24:50 More love to thee, O Christ, more love to thee 24:54 Hear thou the prayer I make on bended knee 24:59 This is my earnest plea More love, O Christ, to thee 25:04 More love to thee, more love to thee 25:19 More love to thee, O Christ, 25:24 more love to thee 25:30 Hear thou the prayer 25:35 I make on bended knee 25:42 This is my earnest plea 25:48 More love, O Christ, to thee 25:54 More love to thee, 26:00 more love to thee 26:18 Then shall my latest breath 26:24 whisper thy praise 26:30 This be the parting cry 26:36 my heart shall raise 26:42 This is my earnest plea 26:48 More love, O Christ, to thee 26:54 More love to thee, 27:00 more love to thee 27:12 This still its prayer shall be 27:18 More love, O Christ to thee 27:24 More love to thee, 27:30 more love to thee 27:36 More love to thee, 27:42 more love to thee |
