00:21 In ancient Persia, a law was passed, 00:24 making it a crime, a death penalty crime, 00:27 to pray to anyone except the emperor. 00:30 But one old faithful servant of God was willing 00:34 to die rather than give up his habit of prayer. 00:39 How much does my time of prayer mean to me 00:42 and how much does it mean to you? 00:44 We sing the hymn "Sweet Hour of Prayer." 00:47 But do we really treasure it? 00:49 Do we realize the precious value of time with Him? 00:53 Today we're going to spend our time together, 00:56 remembering the blessings of prayer not as a formality, 01:00 but as a time to talk with a friend 01:03 who knows us best and loves us the most. 04:09 O the wonder of your greatness, Lord 04:15 Is wider than the sea and sky 04:21 Yet Your mercies, Lord, are greater For today 14:47 Thanks for today 14:51 Thanks for today 15:11 A story is told about Alexander, The Great. 15:14 How one day a courier asked him for some financial aid 15:18 and the great leader told him to go to his treasurer 15:21 and ask for whatever he wanted. 15:23 A little laterthe treasurer came to Alexander and he said, 15:26 "This man has asked for a huge sum of money 15:30 and I didn't want to pay this out to him." 15:33 And Alexander replied, "Give him what he asks for. 15:36 He has treated me like a king in his asking 15:39 and I shall be like a king in my giving." 15:43 And there is a related story about an old church janitor. 15:47 Who has asked how he liked his new preacher. 15:49 Oh, I like him pretty well, he said. 15:51 But our old preacher asked God for things 15:54 That I don't think this new preacher even knows God has. 15:58 James wrote to us, "You have not because you ask not." 16:03 And Jesus said, "I have chosen you 16:05 and ordained you that you should bring forth fruit 16:10 and whatsoever he shall ask of the Father in my name, 16:14 he will give it to you." 16:22 There are so many 16:28 Who need Your touch 16:33 We have come together 16:36 Because we love You so much 16:43 You are our Father 16:47 And we're here to worship You 16:52 We praise You and we thank You,God 16:57 For what You're going to do 17:05 Dear Lord 17:08 Send a miracle today blessing waiting to pushback the curse 22:21 'Cause somebody's praying you through 22:28 'Cause somebody's praying you through 22:35 Yes, somebody's praying 22:42 You through 23:00 There are so many prayers Jesus loves to hear from us. 23:03 Prayers for others. Prayers for His mercies. 23:06 Nicolaus Copernicus was a famous astronomer born in 1473. 23:10 He was a mathematician, whose accomplishments 23:12 changed the way we looked at the universe. 23:15 He was a well-known writer, but although highly educated 23:19 in the stars and astronomy, he was much more a child of God 23:23 who learned to know and trust his Savior Jesus Christ. 23:27 And when he was critically ill, in his final illness 23:30 his book on "Resolutions of the Celestial Bodies" 23:33 just off the press was laid in his arms. 23:35 At the close of his life he didn't think of himself 23:38 as an astronomer or scientist but as a sinner 23:40 who needed the forgiveness of the Savior. 23:43 He asked that the following be written on his gravestone. 23:46 "Lord, I do not ask the kindness didst Thou show to Peter. 23:50 Do not dare ask the grace Thou didst grant to Paul. 23:53 But Lord, the mercy Thou didst shown to the dying robber, 23:57 that mercy show to me, that I earnestly pray." 24:02 Listen now as we close out with Diane, 24:05 reminding us that Jesus wants each of us to come 24:08 And spend time with Him, to pour out our hearts, 24:11 to beg His mercy, to tell Him how much we love Him. 24:15 To thank Him for what He has done for us 24:18 And if either anybody here 24:19 has not done that for a long time, 24:22 use this song to come again to the friend 24:25 who cares for you more than any other 24:28 and loves you so much that he died for you. 24:35 How long has it been 24:40 Since You've talked with the Lord 24:45 And told Him your 24:48 Heart's hidden secrets? 24:54 How long since you've prayed? 24:59 How long since you've stayed on your knees 25:07 Till the light shone through? 25:14 How long has it been 25:19 Since your mind felt at ease? 25:24 How long since your heart 25:29 Knew no burden? 25:34 Can you call him your friend? 25:39 How long has it been 25:44 Since you knew that he cared for you? 26:03 How long has it been 26:08 Since you knelt by your bed 26:14 And prayed to the Lord up in heaven? 26:23 How long since you knew 26:28 That He'd answer you 26:33 And would keep you 26:36 The whole night through? 26:43 How long has it been 26:48 Since you woke with the dawn 26:53 And felt this day is 26:58 Worth living? 27:03 Can you call Him your friend? 27:08 How long has it been 27:13 Since you knew 27:15 That He cares for you? 27:22 Can you call Him your friend? 27:28 How long has it been 27:32 Since you knew that He cares for you? 27:43 Do you know 27:46 That He cares for you? |
