00:20 Hello and welcome back to Praise I'm Kelly Mowrer and today we're
00:24 going to listen to music and messages that tie together the 00:28 two themes of salvation and praise. The power of the 00:32 testimony when we hear different aspects of our redemption 00:36 expressed in music. Listen now as the Ouachita Hills Academy 00:40 Bell Choir starts off with that lovely hymn 00:44 Sing them over again to me wonderful words of life. 00:48 Let me more of their beauty see, Wonderful words of life. 00:54 Wonderful Words of Life Ouachita Hills Academy 01:05 ¤ ¤ 01:33 Another beautiful old hymn starts with words that are 01:38 particularly meaningful to me. Come thou fount of every 01:42 blessing. Tune my heart to sing thy grace. 01:46 It's very grating to listen to music being played or sung out 01:51 of tune. Even people who would call themselves nonmusical quite 01:55 often recognize that something really isn't sounding right when 01:59 an instrument or singer is off pitch. But notice how the writer 02:03 of this hymn starts right out by reminding us that we not only 02:07 need God's grace to change our lives, we need God to tune our 02:11 hearts in order to be able to even tell others what his grace 02:15 has done for us. Our testimony of God's love won't be beautiful 02:20 if we attempt to present it with our own words or in our own 02:24 power. We need the Holy Spirit to tune our hearts and teach 02:29 us how to truly worship so that our lives will really show the 02:33 beauty of our savior's mercy. Listen to Denise sing 02:37 Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing 02:44 Come thou fount of every 02:47 blessing. Tune my heart to sing your praise. 02:55 Streams of mercy never ceasing 03:01 call for songs of loudest praise 03:08 Teach me ever 03:11 to adore thee. 03:15 May I still thy goodness prove, 03:21 While the hope of endless glory 03:28 Fills my heart with joy and love 03:35 ¤ ¤ 03:44 Here I raise my Ebenezer, 03:50 Hither by thy help I've come, 03:56 And I hope by thy good pleasure 04:02 Safely to arrive at home. 04:08 Jesus sought me when a stranger, 04:15 Wandering from the fold of God; 04:22 He to rescue me from danger 04:29 Interposed his precious blood. 04:37 ¤ ¤ 04:45 O, to grace how great a debtor 04:52 Daily I'm constrained to be! 04:58 Let thy goodness, like a fetter 05:05 Bind me closer still to Thee. 05:11 Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it 05:18 Prone to leave the God I love; 05:26 Here's my heart, O, take and seal it; 05:32 Seal it for your courts above. 05:39 ¤ ¤ 05:49 Here's my heart Lord, O, take and seal it; 05:56 Seal it for your courts above. 06:06 ¤ ¤ 06:21 I think that too often we're almost oblivious to the blessing 06:26 that praise can be in our walk with God. We just underestimate 06:30 its power. People who might not consider themselves particularly 06:35 musical might be inclined to figure that it's best to just 06:38 leave singing to someone else and those who are musical might 06:42 tend to overlook the role of music as a weapon in spiritual 06:47 warfare. But praise to God is a powerful weapon to particularly 06:51 set us free from the emotional prison of anger or bitterness 06:56 or self-pity or discouragement. When we're feeling really down, 07:01 when things look very bleak, when we've been treated wrongly 07:04 and we're feeling bitter and resentful or when we're facing 07:08 a situation that makes us scared about the future, if we will 07:13 open our mouth and begin to praise our savior, then the fear 07:17 and the anxiety and the bitterness and the 07:19 discouragement will lose their power over us. And I don't say 07:23 that lightly. I know it can seem very simplistic and there've 07:27 been plenty of times in my life when it seems laughable that the 07:31 enormity of what I'm facing could be handled by singing 07:36 praise to God. But then I think sometimes about the story of 07:39 Naaman when the prophet told him to go dip in the Jordan River 07:43 seven times in order to be cured of leprosy. Naaman almost didn't 07:47 try that because it seemed so absurdly simple to him. 07:50 He almost went on throughout life with this crippling 07:54 incurable disease because the cure seemed too ridiculous. 07:58 Don't make the same mistake that Naaman almost made. Ask the Holy 08:04 Spirit to tune your heart to sing God's praise the next time 08:07 that you're facing discouragement. 08:09 The key is to start singing and keep singing until the act of 08:13 praising God brings a renewed sense of peace and hope to your 08:18 heart. Let the songs about the salvation of God become a 08:22 powerful way to realize his presence in your life no matter 08:25 what you're facing, no matter what you long for, no matter how 08:29 hopeless things seem or how discouraged you feel. 08:34 He Touched Me Angela Bryant-Brown 08:37 Shackled by a heavy burden 'Neath the load of guilt 08:51 and shame. Then the hand of Jesus, 09:01 He touched me 09:04 and now I am no longer the same. 09:15 For he touched me, 09:19 yes, he touched me. 09:24 And all the joy 09:29 that floods my soul. 09:34 Something, something happened 09:38 and now I know, 09:42 He touched me 09:47 and made me whole. 09:52 Since I met the blessed Savior 10:00 and since he came and made, made me whole. 10:12 I will never cease, cease 10:18 to praise him. 10:19 I'll shout until eternity rolls. 10:29 For he touched me, 10:34 yes, Jesus touched me 10:39 and all the joy 10:44 that floods my soul. 10:49 Well something, something happened 10:53 and now, now I know 10:57 that Jesus touched me 11:02 and made, made me whole. 11:06 O he touched me, 11:10 yes my Savior touched me 11:14 And all the joy 11:21 that floods my soul. 11:24 Well, now something, 11:27 something happened and now, now I know 11:36 that Jesus touched me, 11:43 oh yes, and he made, he made, he made me whole. 11:59 ¤ ¤ 12:27 Like the woman at the well I was seeking 12:33 for things that could not satisfy. 12:39 And then I heard my Savior speaking 12:45 Draw from my well that never shall run dry. 12:53 Fill my cup, Lord, I lift it up, Lord. 13:00 Come and quench this thirsting of my soul. 13:07 Bread of heaven feed me till I want no more. 13:13 Fill my cup, 13:15 Fill it up and make me whole. 13:21 There are millions in this world 13:26 who are craving 13:30 the pleasure earthly 13:33 things afford. 13:36 But none can match 13:40 the wondrous treasure 13:43 that I find in 13:45 Jesus Christ my Lord. 13:50 Fill my cup, Lord, I lift it up, Lord, 13:57 Come and quench this thirsting of my soul. 14:05 Bread of heaven feed me till I want no more. 14:12 Fill my cup, 14:13 Fill it up and make me whole 14:20 ¤ ¤ 14:29 So my children if the things 14:32 this world gave you 14:36 leave hungers that won't pass away. 14:42 My blessed Lord will come and save you 14:49 If you kneel to him and humbly pray. 14:57 Fill my cup, Lord, I lift it up, Lord. 15:03 Come and quench this thirsting of my soul. 15:11 Bread of heaven feed me till I want no more. 15:19 Fill my cup, 15:21 fill it up and make me whole. 15:31 ¤ ¤ 16:06 Fill my cup, Lord, 16:10 I lift it up, Lord. 16:14 Come and quench this thirsting of my soul. 16:23 Bread of heaven feed me till I want no more. 16:33 Fill my cup, 16:35 Fill it up and make me whole. 16:43 Bread of heaven 16:46 feed me till I want no more. 16:53 Fill my cup, 16:57 fill it up and make me whole. 17:10 Flowers in the Rain Stephanie Dawn 17:27 You are the one, there's no one else 17:34 who lifts me up and gives me water from the well. 17:42 But there is a hole that seems to drain it all away, 17:50 so once again I'm left in fear and doubt 17:55 when all my strength is crying out. 18:00 So here I am again willing to be opened up and broken 18:09 like a flower in the rain. 18:13 Tell me what have I to do to die and then be raised 18:21 to reach beyond the pain like a flower in the rain. 18:30 ¤ ¤ 18:33 The evil wind it blows a storm 18:39 to rock my world just when I think I'm safe and warm. 18:49 I'm led astray far too easily 18:55 It's always hard for me to say I'm wrong 19:02 Until I know I can't go on. 19:07 So here I am again 19:11 Willing to be opened up and broken like a flower in the rain 19:18 Tell me what have I to do to die and then be raised 19:26 To reach beyond the pain 19:31 Like a flower in the rain. 19:35 Lord, you have searched me and know 19:40 When I sleep and when I rise You're familiar with all my ways 19:49 Even the darkness will shine like the day 19:56 When you look into my heart. 20:00 So here I am again, willing to be opened up and broken 20:09 Like a flower in the rain 20:13 Tell me what have I to do to die and then be raised. 20:20 To reach beyond the pain 20:25 Like a flower in the rain. 20:52 God didn't promise us that we would have an easy walk on the 20:57 path to heaven, but when we make it a habit to sing his praise as 21:03 we go, the songs become a blessing that makes our journey 21:07 so much better because they keep our hearts focused on his 21:11 goodness and his love and in those times when our lives fall 21:16 out of tune, when we get discouraged and we're weighed 21:18 down with guilt, or when we're afraid about the future. 21:21 He understands that too and he sets us free from that burden 21:26 by giving us back our ability to keep praising him. 21:30 Isaiah writes in chapter 61 verse three that God gives the 21:34 garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness that we 21:38 might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of 21:43 the Lord and that he might be glorified. Come Thou found of 21:47 every blessing. Tune our hearts to sing thy grace. 21:51 Were It Not For Grace Rudy Micelli 21:54 Time measured out my days; Life carried me along 22:07 Down in my soul I yearned to follow God 22:15 but knew I'd never be 22:18 so strong 22:21 I looked hard at this world 22:25 To learn how heaven 22:29 could be gained. 22:34 Just to end where I began 22:38 Where human effort 22:43 is all in vain. 22:49 Were it not for grace I can tell you where I'd be. 23:02 Wandering down some pointless road to nowhere 23:09 With my salvation up to me 23:14 I know how that would go 23:21 The battles I would face. 23:28 Forever running but losing the race 23:37 Were it not for grace. 23:45 So here is all my praise 23:53 Expressed with all my heart 24:01 Offered to this friend who took my place 24:08 And ran this course I could not even start. 24:16 and when he saw in full 24:20 Just how much his 24:25 love would cost 24:29 He still went the final mile 24:32 between me and heaven 24:38 So I would not be lost. 24:44 Were it not for grace I can tell you where I'd be 24:55 Wandering down some pointless road to nowhere 25:06 With my salvation up to me. 25:12 And I know how that would go All the battles I would face 25:25 Forever running 25:29 but losing the race 25:32 Were it not for his grace 25:41 Forever running but losing the race 25:48 Were it not for grace. 26:08 Eternal Life Ron Woolsey 26:22 ¤ ¤ |
