00:21 Hello and welcome to Praise. I'm Kelly Mowrer.
00:24 I was thinking recently about how our enemy tries to 00:27 discourage us with guilt, with the feeling that we're a failure 00:32 beyond commonly acceptable boundaries where real Christians 00:37 can safely fail or that somehow God's grace is a nice concept 00:41 for those who are more worthy than we are. Or perhaps we've 00:45 messed up so often that we've somehow used up our allotted 00:49 supply of mercy. But for those of you watching who may be new 00:53 to the family of God, the first few times you fail I know it can 00:57 seem like such a crushing blow, like somehow you must not have 01:00 really been God's in the first place or you wouldn't have 01:04 fallen like this. And for those watching who have belonged to 01:07 God for many years, when we sin there can be this nagging 01:11 anxiety about how much grace can we really expect. After all 01:15 these years to still be failing so spectacularly. Surely we 01:19 should be better than this by now. But here's is what God says 01:23 to us in 1 John chapter 1. If we say that we have no sin 01:30 we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 01:33 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us 01:39 our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. And in 01:44 Isaiah 1:18 he says, Come now let us reason together saith the 01:49 Lord. Though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white 01:54 as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 01:59 Come Let Us Reason Stephanie Dawn 02:03 Come let us reason together. 02:10 That's what God says. 02:17 Come let us reason together 02:24 Says the Lord. 02:32 Come let us reason together. 02:39 That's what God says. 02:46 Come let us reason together Says the Lord. 02:59 Though your sins be as scarlet, 03:06 They shall be as white as snow. 03:13 Though they be red like crimson, 03:21 They shall be as wool. 03:31 Come let us reason together. 03:40 That's what God says. 03:46 Come let us reason together says the Lord. 04:00 Though your sins be as scarlet, 04:06 They shall be white as snow. 04:13 Though they be red like crimson, 04:20 They shall be as wool. 04:32 Come let us reason together. 04:40 That's what God says. 04:46 Come let us reason together says the Lord. 05:15 God is the God of the fresh start. We can't fall so far that 05:21 the everlasting arms aren't underneath us. His grace is 05:25 greater than all our sin. When I get discouraged with my failures 05:30 my weakness, I sometime remember one of my favorite passages in 05:34 the Bible: Lamentations chapter three starting in verse 21: 05:39 This I recall to my mind; therefore have I hope. It is of 05:44 the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed because his 05:49 compassions fail not, they are new every morning. Great is thy 05:54 faithfulness. When our wandering sinful hearts really begin to 05:59 see the beauty of Jesus, his grace and love for us, we long 06:04 more and more to serve him always and only, to really walk 06:09 only with him becomes the prayer and the all-fulfilling purpose 06:13 of our life. Living in his presence, learning his ways 06:17 of peace, hearing his voice, just growing more and more 06:21 like him as we learn to love him more and more. 06:25 Oh Let Me Walk With Thee Christian Bordahal 06:29 Oh let me walk with thee my God 06:36 As Enoch walked in days of old. 06:42 Place thou my trembling hand in thine. 06:49 And sweet communion with me hold 06:55 Even though the path I may not see 07:03 Yet Jesus let me walk with thee. 07:11 ¤ ¤ 07:18 I cannot, dare not 07:23 walk alone. 07:27 The tempest rages in the sky. 07:33 A thousand snares beset my feet 07:40 A thousand foes are lurking nye. 07:46 Still thou the raging of the sea 07:54 Oh Master let me walk with thee. 08:01 ¤ ¤ 08:09 If I may rest my hand in thine 08:16 I'll count the joys of earth but loss. 08:25 And firmly, bravely journey on. 08:33 I'll bear the banner of the cross 08:41 Till Zion's glorious gates I see 08:49 But Savior let me walk with thee 08:57 Till Zion's glorious gates I see 09:07 Yet Savior let me walk with thee 09:17 ¤ ¤ 09:30 As we walk more and more closely with God we find ourselves 09:35 growing more and more like him. Two pictures begin to fill our 09:39 mind and everything else is seen through those filters. The first 09:44 picture is his cross. When by faith we think about what Jesus 09:48 did for us it brings a deeper perspective to every aspect of 09:53 our lives. Speaking of his death Jesus said, And I, if I be 09:59 lifted up from the earth will draw all men unto me. And with 10:04 Paul we realize that the preaching of the cross is to 10:08 them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved 10:12 it is the power of God. 10:26 ¤ ¤ 12:59 And as we walk more and more closely with Jesus the second 13:05 picture we keep in mind is where we're going. We never lose site 13:08 that this world is only a temporary journey and heaven is 13:13 our destination and becomes our heart focus. By faith we keep 13:17 pressing on to that city whose builder and make is God and we 13:22 heaven always in our view. 13:27 With a Made Up Mind 13:32 With a made up mind With a made up mind 13:39 I'm willing to go all the way through 13:46 Though it cost my life 13:50 I'm willing to pay the price 13:58 I've got heaven in my view. 14:05 Though it means that I have to walk alone 14:13 Or that my friends 14:18 they may be few 14:23 But I'm not gonna worry about 14:27 what others may say or do 14:33 See I got heaven in my view. 14:40 With a made up mind With a made up mind 14:49 There's no problem that he, 14:54 he will not see me through. 14:57 And if I live my life right 15:01 All of my battles he promised to fight 15:08 That's why I've got heaven in my view. 15:15 Oh, with a made up mind you see It's gonna take a made up mind 15:24 And every day I can say 15:29 Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelu Hallelu, Hallelu 15:34 And all of my burdens 15:37 They may weigh me down, me down 15:44 I've got heaven, I've got heaven, 15:50 I've got heaven in my view 16:15 Joseph Henry Gillmore was born in Boston, Massachusetts on 16:21 April 29, 1834. He attended the Newton Theological Institution 16:25 and over the course of his life served both as a church pastor 16:29 and also as a professor of Hebrew at the Rochester 16:32 Theological Seminary. Also for a time he served as the private 16:37 secretary for his father who was the governor of New Hampshire. 16:41 In 1862, as a 28-year-old student, about to become a 16:46 pastor, Henry was invited to preach at the historic First 16:50 Baptist Church of Philadelphia. America was experiencing the 16:54 dark days of the civil war between the states and Henry 16:58 later reflected that this may have influenced his message that 17:02 day. He wrote these words: I set out to give the people an 17:06 exposition of the 23rd Psalm. I had given this exposition on 17:09 three or four other occasions but this time I did not get 17:12 beyond the words, He leadeth me. 17:16 So greatly impressed was I with the blessedness of divine 17:21 guidance that I made this my theme. At the close of the 17:24 meeting, Henry and some others went to the home of a deacon 17:29 nearby and as the discussion about divine guidance continued 17:33 Henry pulled out the notes from his sermon and wrote on there 17:37 a poem with these words: He leadeth me, Oh blessed thought 17:42 Oh words with heavenly comfort fraught. What ere I do, where 17:47 ere I be, still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me. 17:52 He Leadeth Me Rudy Micelli 17:55 He leadeth me, O blessed thought 18:01 O words with heavenly comfort fraught. 18:09 What ere I do Where ere I be 18:14 Still 'tis God's had that leadeth me. 18:23 He leadeth me, He leadeth me; 18:30 By his own hand he leadeth me. 18:37 His faithful follower I will be 18:46 For by his hand he leadeth me. 18:56 Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom 19:02 Sometimes where Eden's bowers bloom 19:09 By waters still or troubled sea 19:14 Still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me. 19:28 He leadeth me, 19:34 By his own hand he leadeth me. 19:41 His faithful follower I will be 19:53 For by his hand he leadeth me. 20:06 ¤ ¤ 20:15 And when my task 20:18 on earth is done 20:21 When by his grace the victory's won 20:27 E'en death's cold wave 20:31 I will not flee 20:34 For God through Jordan 20:38 leadeth me. 20:47 ¤ ¤ 20:54 He leadeth me, he leadeth me, 21:00 by his own hand he leadeth me. 21:07 His faithful follower I will be 21:27 For by his hand he leadeth me. 21:46 No matter where you are in life right now, no matter what you've 21:51 done or haven't done, God offers each of us a chance for another 21:56 new beginning. Listen to how he describes this new relationship 22:01 in Jeremiah chapter 31: The Lord hath appeared unto me saying 22:07 yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love. Therefore with 22:11 loving kindness have I drawn thee. Behold the days come saith 22:15 the Lord that I will make a new covenant with the house of 22:19 Israel. After those days saith the Lord, I will put my law in 22:23 their inward parts and write it in their hearts and will be 22:27 their God and they shall be my people. 22:30 More Like You Steve Darmody 22:36 By chiseling the stones that built this house 22:42 and carving out a home I only dream about 22:49 You're painting me a view 22:52 That I can't live without. I can't live without. 23:02 But you're making me more like you 23:11 Creating me into someone who 23:17 Knows the awesome power 23:21 of what love can do. 23:25 You're making me, making me more like you 23:35 By molding me the hands that desire to serve 23:46 and giving me the voice that wants to share your word 23:51 And offering the hope that I don't deserve, 24:01 I don't deserve. 24:06 But you're making me more like you 24:14 Creating me in to someone who 24:19 Knows the awesome power 24:24 of what love can do. 24:27 You're making me, 24:30 making me more like you 24:40 ¤ ¤ 24:49 You're making me more like you 24:55 Creating me into someone who knows the awesome power 25:04 of what love can do. 25:10 You're making me, making me more like you. 25:24 You're making me, 25:28 Making me more like you. 25:50 More Love To Thee Ouachita Hills Academy 26:03 ¤ ¤ |
