I'll worship Your Holy name 04:49 Sing like never before O my soul 05:01 I worship Your Holy name 05:08 I worship Your Holy name 05:45 Amen. 05:47 For the next few moments, 05:49 I want to invite you to join me in worshiping our God, 05:52 our creator, our loving heavenly Father. 05:56 As the author of that song Matt Redman, 06:00 he was writing, telling why he wrote that song 06:03 and he told of the over 1.7 million species of animals, 06:08 plants and algae that are found on the earth. 06:12 He also mentioned the 6,000 known mammals, 06:15 the 1 million different insect species 06:18 and the discoveries 06:19 of each of those categories are growing, 06:22 and also scientists now believe 06:24 that there are more stars in the known universe 06:27 than there are grains of sand 06:29 on all the world's beaches and deserts, 06:32 billions and billions, that sounds mind blowing. 06:34 It is mind blowing. 06:36 But let's bring to you and me, let's bring it down 06:42 to the blessings that we receive. 06:43 What if you kept track of the blessings 06:46 that you received in a single hour 06:48 on any given day, 06:50 those simple miracles of everyday life? 06:53 For example just think about God's provision for us 06:57 and for our loved ones. 06:59 No wonder the psalmist declared in Psalm 30:12, 07:03 "My heart may sing to you and not be silent. 07:08 O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever." 07:11 And I echo that sentiment, for I cannot keep silent. 07:32 I cannot keep silent 07:37 Of what you've done for me 07:42 You alone are worthy 07:46 Of glory and majesty 07:51 I cannot keep silent 07:55 Of what you've done for me 08:00 You alone are worthy 08:04 Of glory and majesty 08:09 You turn my mourning into dancing 08:14 You turn my sorrow into joy 08:19 My lips shall praise you forever 08:23 I cannot keep silent, O Lord 08:28 I cannot keep silent, O Lord 08:39 I cannot keep silent 08:44 Of what you've done for me 08:48 You alone are worthy 08:52 Of glory and majesty 08:57 You turn my mourning into dancing 09:02 You turn my sorrow into joy 09:06 My lips shall praise you forever 09:10 I cannot keep silent, O Lord 09:14 I cannot keep silent, O Lord 09:23 You turn my mourning into dancing 09:27 You turn my sorrow into joy 09:31 My lips shall praise you forever 09:36 I cannot keep silent, O Lord 09:40 I cannot keep silent, O Lord 09:47 I cannot keep silent, O Lord 10:00 Amen. 11:09 His voice is thunder 11:14 His face is shining like the sun 11:18 And there is fire in his eyes 11:26 Enthroned in glory 11:30 The marks of healing in his hands 11:34 All of creation testifies 11:42 Great is the Lord, He is worthy of honor 11:46 And worthy of all that we are 11:49 He is righteous and holy deserving a glory 11:54 Redeemer of every heart 11:58 Great is the Lord 12:07 Great is the Lord 12:19 His words are healing 12:23 His ways are higher than mine 12:28 His steadfast love is better than life 12:36 Joy everlasting 12:40 A peace this world can't comprehend 12:44 My lips will sing it over again and again and again 12:52 Great is the Lord He is worthy of honor 12:56 And worthy of all that we are 12:59 He is righteous and holy deserving a glory 13:04 Redeemer of every heart 13:08 Great is the Lord 13:17 Great is the Lord 13:40 O Great is the Lord He is worthy of honor 13:44 And worthy of all that we are 13:48 He is righteous and holy deserving a glory 13:52 Redeemer of every heart 13:56 Great is the Lord 14:05 Great is the Lord 14:13 Great is the Lord 14:24 Amen. 14:25 What a great God we serve. 14:28 What a privilege to live for our almighty King. 14:32 And I want to sing a song 14:33 that I remember singing as a little kid, 14:36 it's an old song, it was just, 14:39 it made me feel good back then just the rhythm of the song. 14:44 And as I've gotten older, 14:45 I've begun to appreciate what the lyrics say. 14:49 And if you know this as with any of the songs 14:52 that I sing today sing along, sing unto the Lord. 15:02 We've got a great big wonderful God 15:07 A great big wonderful God 15:10 A God who's always victorious 15:13 Always watching over us 15:15 A great big wonderful God 15:18 We've got a great big wonderful God 15:23 A great big wonderful God 15:26 A God who loves every one of us Done so much for all of us 15:31 A great big wonderful God 16:04 He never, never leaves us 16:08 He's always by our side 16:12 To held us if we stumble We're the apple of his eye 16:19 We've got a great big wonderful God 16:24 A great big wonderful God 16:27 Oh, what a glory it is to sing praise to our coming King 16:32 Our Great Big Wonderful God 16:46 Amen. 16:48 A great big wonderful God. 16:50 I love the fact 16:52 that He's never going to never, ever, ever leave us. 16:55 And that we are the apple of his eye. 16:58 It's great and wonderful. 17:09 The splendor of the King 17:16 Clothed in majesty 17:20 Let all the earth rejoice Let all the earth rejoice 17:27 He wraps himself in light 17:32 And darkness tries to hide 17:37 And trembles at His voice And trembles at His voice 17:43 How great is our God 17:48 Sing with me How great is our God 17:54 And all will see how great 17:57 How great is our God 18:07 Age to age He stands 18:12 And time is in His hands 18:16 Beginning and the end Beginning and the end 18:23 The Godhead Three in One 18:30 Father, Spirit, Son 18:33 The Lion and the Lamb The Lion and the Lamb 18:40 How great is our God, sing with me 18:46 How great is our God 18:51 And all will see how great 18:55 How great is our God 19:04 Name above all names 19:09 Worthy of our praise 19:15 My heart will sing 19:17 How great is our God 19:26 He's the name above all names 19:31 And He's worthy of our praise 19:37 My heart will sing 19:40 How great is our God 19:49 How great is our God sing with me 19:55 How great is our God 20:00 And all will see how great 20:03 How great is our God 20:13 How great 20:16 How great is our God 22:26 I've been singing about the greatness of God. 22:30 Some of those songs contained descriptive words 22:32 that the writer has used to attempt to describe 22:37 what we mean when we sing about God as being great. 22:41 But of course, we have only human ways 22:44 and human words to define what God's greatness means. 22:48 As hard as we try, 22:50 we cannot grasp the greatness of God. 23:14 From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea 23:23 Creation's revealing Your majesty 23:30 From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring 23:38 Every creature unique in the song that it sings 23:44 All exclaiming Indescribable uncontainable 23:50 You placed the stars in the sky And You know them by name 23:56 You are amazing God 24:02 All powerful, untameable 24:06 Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim 24:12 You are amazing God 24:22 Who has told every lightning bolt 24:25 Where it should go 24:30 Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow 24:38 Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light 24:46 Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night 24:52 None can fathom Indescribable, uncontainable 24:58 You placed the stars in the sky And You know them by name 25:04 You are amazing God 25:10 All powerful, untameable 25:13 Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim 25:19 You are amazing God 25:41 Indescribable, uncontainable You placed the stars in the sky 25:48 And You know them by name 25:51 You are amazing God 25:58 Incomparable, unchangeable 26:02 You see the depths of my heart And You love me the same 26:08 You are amazing God 26:16 You are amazing God 26:34 Amazing God. 26:37 So since God is great, and I am His child, 26:43 I want to be like Him, 26:47 but what about that? 26:49 How do we measure greatness when it comes to me or you? 26:54 I know, I am guilty of using a measuring stick 26:59 of say a great reputation, 27:02 maybe the large amounts of money that we've earned 27:05 or even how we've earned it, 27:06 that's how I might measure greatness. 27:09 I'm also guilty personally of measuring my popularity, 27:14 comparing myself to others, the other's greatness 27:18 and rising above average to the top, 27:22 trying to rise above 27:24 the status quo to be great. 27:29 But those are all about me and about you. 27:32 What I try to do to be great. 27:37 Now the dictionary defines greatness 27:40 as the quality of being 27:42 maybe distinguished or famous and respected 27:45 within a particular sphere or profession, 27:49 but the Bible gives us 27:50 a better description of what greatness is. 27:54 Jesus Himself says in Mark 9:33-35 28:00 and I encourage you, 28:02 if you'd get the chance to read this chapter 28:05 because it's a really great chapter, 28:08 some wonderful stories that lead up to the point 28:12 of this particular verses that I'm going to read. 28:16 I'm going to start with verse 33, 28:20 when the disciples and Jesus who had been journeying, 28:24 when they arrived at Capernaum, 28:27 "When they were in the house, 28:28 Jesus asked them, 28:30 'What were you discussing and arguing about on the road?' 28:34 But they kept still" verse 34, "for on the road 28:37 they had discussed and disputed with one another 28:40 as to who was the greatest." 28:43 Verse 35, 28:45 "And he sat down and called the twelve 28:47 and said to them, 28:49 'If anyone desires to be first or greatest 28:54 he must be last of all and servant of all." 29:00 You see Jesus had a radically different approach 29:03 to greatness, one of which was 29:06 that people serve others instead of being served, 29:10 placing other's interests ahead of their own. 29:14 One of the great verses in Matthew 20:28 said that, 29:20 "Ever as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, 29:25 and to give his life as a ransom for many." 29:28 That's greatness, 29:30 that's the greatness to which I want to aspire. 29:34 I am... 29:36 I brought a little piece of memorabilia for me 29:42 and this is a piece 29:45 that my friend brought back from the Holy Land. 29:51 Some people say, they get a shirt that says. 29:55 "My friend went to the Holy Land 29:56 and all I got was a T-shirt." 29:58 Well, this is actually something much more memorable. 30:02 This is a little statue depicting 30:06 the story in John 13 30:09 of Jesus washing the disciple's feet. 30:13 And when I got this piece, 30:17 I set it on my shelf and after... 30:21 When I was getting ready to move, I put it in a box 30:25 and it was several months before I unpacked that box, 30:30 and when I did, the pieces, 30:34 the glue had come unglued. 30:37 That just had lot it's sticky 30:39 and all the pieces were missing. 30:41 They weren't missing, 30:42 they were just missing from the base, I guess. 30:45 So I went... 30:48 There were this little jug whatever it's called picture, 30:53 I guess, was also askew. 30:57 So I found the pieces 30:59 and I had not seen it for a while 31:02 and I was trying to remember how to put it together 31:04 and I realized there is only three pieces 31:05 and I can play the piano on 88 keys 31:08 but sometimes three pieces hang me up for some reason. 31:10 So anyway, I could figure out where the basin went 31:14 or the pitch rather. 31:16 But these two pieces, they only fit one way. 31:20 The Peter, the apostle, 31:25 he is sitting in the chair which is all one piece 31:29 and it's been carved out of this olive wood 31:32 and so there's... 31:33 Those pieces can't come apart, 31:36 so he has to sit there and his foot is propped up, 31:39 he's just got it hanging in the air 31:41 and then Jesus is on his knees and it can't go any other way, 31:46 because this way it will go backwards. 31:49 So it's got to go this way. 31:51 Jesus' hands are carved out of one piece of wood 31:55 to where Peter's foot fits exactly right there 32:00 and it is a reminder, 32:02 this is a reminder to me of what true servant hood is 32:06 as Christ demonstrated that's the way it's got to fit. 32:10 It has to fit exactly like that. 32:13 Jesus is our awesome wonderful example 32:16 of what servant leadership is. 32:20 It doesn't mean that He wasn't a leader 32:22 because He was an awesome leader. 32:24 But being a servant made him ever more able to empathize 32:30 and humble himself and show compassion 32:34 because he was willing to get on his knees 32:37 and wash the feet of the disciples. 32:40 So that sets on my shelf as a constant reminder 32:44 that that's what Christ calls me to do 32:47 and as Christ followers, we are to take his lead. 32:50 Serving each other 32:52 in loneliness of heart and mind, 32:54 seeking to build each other up in humility and in love, 32:59 and when we seek to be superior 33:01 having our own way 33:03 and trying to be great in our own way, 33:05 we displease the Lord 33:07 who promised 33:08 that true greatness in his kingdom 33:11 is attained by those with a servant's heart. 33:16 I have a friend in Kansas City 33:19 who wrote an amazing song 33:21 in my opinion it's just a great reminder 33:27 of this very fact and I want to sing this song. 33:48 You welcome the blind 33:51 And You welcome the lame 33:53 You welcome the leper in all of his shame 33:58 'Cause You couldn't turn 34:00 Anyone away from you 34:07 You welcome the master 34:09 You welcome the slave 34:12 You welcome the widow 34:14 And the offering she gave 34:16 'Cause you saw their hearts 34:19 Not the money they made 34:24 Teach me how to love 34:29 Teach me how to love 34:34 Teach me how to love 34:38 Like you 34:44 You welcome the Pharisee swallowed by pride 34:49 You welcome the sceptic, the liar, the scribe 34:52 To the doubtor, You said, put your hand in my side 35:01 You welcome the rich 35:04 And You welcome the poor 35:06 You welcome the priest and You welcome the whore 35:11 And all of them walks through the very same door 35:16 That was you 35:19 Teach me how to love 35:23 Teach me how to love 35:28 Teach me how to love 35:32 Like you 35:36 Teach me how to love 35:40 Teach me how to love 35:45 Teach me how to love 35:48 Like you 36:10 It's not like You preached and they heard every word 36:15 It's not like You didn't know what they deserved 36:19 But you show the way through Your love 36:22 And the way that you served 36:32 So teach me how to love 36:37 Teach me how to serve 36:42 And teach me how to care 36:46 Like you 36:50 Lord teach me how to love 36:55 Teach me how to love 36:59 Teach me how to love 37:04 Like you 37:09 You welcome us wretched and broken by sin 37:14 You welcome us no matter where we have been 37:18 The gate of Your kingdom swings wide 37:21 As You welcome us in 37:29 Teach us how to love God 37:33 And teach us how to serve 37:47 Just continue to think about how much he loves you 37:52 and let's sing alone. 37:55 I'm forgiven. 37:57 I'm forgiven 37:59 Because You were forsaken 38:04 I'm accepted 38:07 You were condemned 38:11 I'm alive and well, Your spirit is within me 38:17 Because You died and rose again 38:23
