00:02 I want to spend my life
00:08 Mending broken people 00:13 I wanna spend my life 00:19 Removing pain 00:24 Lord, let my words 00:30 Heal a heart that hurts 00:35 I wanna spend my life 00:41 Mending broken people 00:46 I wanna spend my life 00:52 Mending broken people 01:07 Hello and welcome to another 3ABN Today program. 01:10 Thank you for joining us as you do each and every day, 01:14 thank you for your love, and your prayers, 01:16 and financial support of 3ABN. 01:18 I'm here with Miss Yvonne. Hey. 01:20 Yvonne, we have some special guests today. 01:23 I know. I am so excited this, I love this family. 01:27 I love this family. 01:28 And it's gonna be, 01:30 we're gonna have a lot of video to show. 01:31 Yes. 01:33 We're gonna talk to the entire family 01:34 but, you know, what I like about Christians 01:36 is we can have fun 01:38 and we don't have to go out and do bad things... 01:40 That's right. 01:41 And things of the world 01:42 and our young people can have fun. 01:44 That's right. 01:45 And we don't have to go out and make bad decisions, 01:46 so we got a family here 01:48 that I'm so excited to introduce you to. 01:50 Yes. 01:51 And so, we've got to know them, and yesterday, 01:54 I got to know them a lot, 'cause we got together 01:57 and we played some table tennis, right? 02:01 And so, that way when you're playing hard 02:04 with table tennis, you get to know people. 02:05 Yes, indeed. 02:07 About a family we love so much, so we have the Ríos family, 02:10 it's good to have you here. 02:12 And this is Dad, Pablo. How are you doing? 02:14 Just fine, just fine. 02:15 And we see you have your boys here 02:17 and your wife Didi, hi, Didi. 02:19 Hi. 02:20 Glad that you're here and we have Mr. Kenai. 02:24 Where is Mr. Kenai? Would you raise your hand? 02:26 I call him Mr. It, 02:27 'cause like he is it, you're Mr. It, 02:30 but Kenai, but next to you is your older brother 02:33 and it's Itziar, right? 02:35 Probably should call him, Its, 02:38 but I think you kind of like being Mr. It. 02:41 And, but these folks are in a ministry 02:44 and who would have ever dreamed, 02:46 they're in a ministry with paddles, right? 02:49 Yes. 02:51 Now, when I saw a paddle and as a kid at home, 02:53 I knew I was in trouble but that's not, 02:55 if my dad was holding one, then I was in trouble 02:57 but this is a ministry and you guys travel around 03:02 and you play table tennis. 03:05 So we're gonna find out a little bit about that 03:08 but it's amazing that what you can do 03:11 for the cause of God, right? 03:12 Yes, yes, and, you know, God isn't in a box, 03:15 like there's so many different ways 03:17 to share God with people 03:19 and they have found an amazing way to do it. 03:22 Absolutely, and that's what's beautiful 03:24 about the ministry and about the family, 03:26 you put God first. 03:27 Exactly. Amen. 03:29 And you should, and we've played hard 03:30 and we've talked, we call it talk trash, 03:32 you know, you talk back and forth and okay, 03:35 I'm gonna beat you in this game, 03:36 and you're gonna beat me, 03:38 but we hold hands and we pray together 03:40 and because it's all in fun, 03:42 but these guys have such a tremendous witness 03:46 that God has given them 03:48 because of their gift of being able 03:51 to be so athletic in a sport called, table tennis, 03:54 they have jackets that they wear, 03:56 we'll talk about it a little bit more, 03:58 but they'll have things that give glory and honor to God 04:01 and so they're, they don't hide it 04:03 from, from anyone, 04:05 but we're gonna find out about some of their accomplishments. 04:07 Now today, when we do this, 04:09 we're not gonna give credit to the young folks, 04:11 but we're giving credit to Jesus. 04:13 Amen. Amen. 04:14 Because, right? 04:15 So the credit goes to Jesus, 04:17 because without the Lord blessing you all, 04:20 you wouldn't be able to do anything 04:21 that you're doing. 04:22 Yep. 04:24 But it's also encouraging to see that young folk, 04:25 "If you train them in the way of the Lord," 04:27 Bible says, "When they get old, they'll not depart from it." 04:30 That's right. 04:31 And that you can take these talents, 04:33 something that you do everyday, 04:34 you're gonna get better and better and better 04:37 but also what they have, 04:38 that Yvonne and I talked about last night, 04:41 is the support. 04:42 That's right. 04:44 Tell us a little bit about the support you saw. 04:46 It makes such a difference to see a family unit 04:50 that is so cohesive 04:52 and that has the Lord at the center. 04:56 The Dad is the trainer, 04:58 and Mom is the spiritual counselor 05:01 and also, she plays too. 05:03 It's like everybody plays. 05:05 And it's just, it's so beautiful, 05:07 and the boys, I loved it, 'cause, 'cause Kenai said, 05:11 "Let's pray" at the end of our time with them, 05:15 he said, "let's pray," and they all, 05:18 they both prayed so beautifully, 05:19 I mean, it's so touching, and it's real, 05:23 you know, it's not fake, it's genuine, you just, 05:26 you just know that these boys know Jesus and that's what, 05:31 they exude that and I know everywhere they go, 05:35 they, they show, you show that you love Jesus 05:39 and I just think that's so beautiful. 05:41 Thank you. It's so beautiful. 05:42 I want to find out, we'll start with you, Pablo, 05:44 tell us a little bit about, I see a lot of ribbons here, 05:47 but tell us the background and how you got involved 05:49 in a table tennis ministry for Jesus. 05:52 Well, it started off, 05:56 we had no idea what was table tennis, 05:58 as a matter of fact, we called it ping-pong. 06:00 Yeah, me too. 06:01 The boys corrected me. Oh, they did. 06:03 They told you... 06:05 Ping-pong, that's amateurs, 06:06 so I still in ping-pong with their table tennis. 06:08 Yeah, table tennis is the Olympic sport 06:10 and it's a much higher, more training, 06:13 more training takes involved in it 06:16 and, and we, like I said, 06:19 we did not know anything about table tennis, so... 06:24 I just, a friend of mine gave me a table, 06:26 and we bring it home, 06:27 and I made some rackets of some wood, 06:30 and I had them play for a while, 06:31 and I saw they caught up real quick with this game, 06:34 and I said, "Oh, they got talent." 06:36 And they're how old about then? 06:38 Kenai was four and a half, and Itziar was eight years old. 06:41 Okay. 06:43 Yeah, it's been four years and a half we've been training, 06:45 thanks to the Lord, He gave us all the wisdom and the health, 06:49 and the Lord has blessed us in many ways. 06:52 And then, the kids, by their self, 06:54 they, one day, just, 06:56 my wife saw them writing something down on a paper 07:00 and, "What are you doing?" 07:01 "Well, we're gonna write special messages on our back, 07:04 so that way we can inspire other kids 07:07 and share Jesus with them." 07:09 So that's basically how it started. 07:11 Okay, I noticed you have a basket of ping-pong balls. 07:16 Now, we can't call them ping-pong balls, 07:18 table tennis balls, okay? 07:20 We can't even do that anymore, but like this, 07:23 what does that say? 07:24 It says, "God listens, pray." 07:27 Okay, so each one of these has different messages. 07:30 Yes, they do. Yes, they do. 07:31 "God's sons never quit." 07:33 So we get all of these things, I love it, it says, 07:37 "1 cross, 3 nails, 4 given." 07:39 Oh, yes. 07:41 Isn't that nice? Nice. 07:43 So all of these, you would now, 07:44 what do you do with these balls? 07:46 We give it to the people that we know, a friend or a family. 07:51 Yeah, and the ones you beat. 07:55 They left you some. After you beat them. 07:57 They left you some. 07:58 They left me some, after you beat em', 08:01 you leave them here to encourage 'em, 08:02 don't be discouraged, they're some good... 08:04 You have some. Yeah, thank you. 08:07 So you give these to friends and people 08:09 where you go to do your tournaments 08:12 or whether you're going to churches 08:14 and you leave these and your, your goal is to what? 08:18 I think you said earlier, to inspire other young people. 08:21 Yeah, inspire other young people, 08:24 old people, all the people in the world. 08:26 Yeah. 08:28 So to inspire them that there is a good way of life 08:31 and that's serving the Lord 08:33 and you use the talents God has given you 08:35 as a door to get in. 08:36 Exactly, yeah. 08:38 Other words, probably at 12 years old, 08:39 not too many places would be inviting you to come in 08:42 and speak and give advice and, you know, 08:45 talk to people if it weren't for your abilities 08:48 that you have, now, 08:49 so I wanna talk a little bit about you, 08:51 you first, Itziar, 08:53 I see a number of ribbons, maybe rather than to him, 08:57 it might be better if Dad will tell us 08:59 a little bit about some of the tournaments 09:01 and some of the things you all won. 09:03 Yes, we just recently, thanks to the Lord, 09:05 always giving Him the glory, 09:07 which gave us all the talent and the wisdom, 09:10 we went to the Badger State Winter Games. 09:12 Badger State, that's in Wisconsin. 09:13 Yes, Wisconsin in Wausau 09:15 It's the last winter? 09:16 It's the last winter. Okay. 09:18 And they actually, never had a table tennis participation 09:21 within their state games, 09:23 it was the first time in 30 years, 09:25 they had their table tennis included, 09:27 and thanks to God, we were there, 09:29 and it was a great time, 09:31 we had the opportunity to share the message 09:33 as always we do in participations, 09:37 and thanks to God, Itziar got in first place, 09:41 he got a gold medal "14 years and under." 09:42 That's gold medal. Wow! 09:45 And you were playing with him. 09:46 Yeah. Wow! 09:48 And Kenai got a bronze medal. 09:51 You got the bronze? Fourteen years and under. 09:53 Is that? Right, that's amazing. So, wow! 09:56 That's good, so that's one, what's some of the others? 09:58 The other one, it's the one they did in Puerto Rico, 10:02 they called it the First Games of Puerto Rico, 10:04 which was in other words, like an Olympic game 10:07 within the nation of Puerto Rico... 10:09 Yeah, the national games within... 10:10 Yeah, the best of the best in every kind of sport. 10:12 Yes. 10:13 And that tournament, it was held, thanks to God, 10:16 it was held on a Friday morning. 10:17 Okay. 10:19 'Cause... 10:20 I think it was at night. 10:21 Yeah, it was at night, 'cause of our, 10:23 our belief and our faithfulness to God, 10:26 we don't play on Saturdays, 10:27 so most of the tournaments are held on Saturdays 10:30 on their age group 10:32 and the Federation of Puerto Rico sadly, 10:34 you know, doesn't have developed in a way 10:38 that you can give opportunity to the people 10:40 that don't play on the Sabbath to have that opportunity. 10:42 Okay. 10:43 So they forced us to play, well, not forced us, 10:45 the only opportunity they gave us 10:46 was to play on a Sunday. 10:48 Okay. 10:49 So we had to play with bigger, stronger players. 10:51 I see. 10:52 So God works in such a mysterious way, 10:55 but it actually happened was it's just, 10:58 my kids developed even faster. 11:01 Okay, 'cause you're playing the older, older people. 11:04 More experienced, stronger players. 11:06 Okay. 11:08 We kept on working hard, like, the game was next weekend, 11:12 and that year, we practiced for a whole year 11:14 and we only had one participation 11:16 in the whole year. 11:18 Oh, okay. 11:19 And we were ready, practicing everyday 11:21 like if there was a participation the next day, 11:23 and thanks to God's glory, 11:25 Kenai came in first and he won gold medals. 11:26 He won gold medal for Puerto Rico. 11:29 Seven years and under, in our city. 11:32 Añasco is the west side of the island. 11:34 Yeah, okay. 11:36 And Kenai, Itziar came in the top five. 11:37 Wow! That's incredible, wonderful. 11:41 Wow! 11:42 Didi, I wanna ask you something, 11:44 as mom and spiritual counselor as well to your children, 11:50 how do you feel when your boys are playing and excelling? 11:54 What does that bring out in you? 11:56 When I saw them plain and I saw that uniform 11:59 that they decide to put, you know, 12:01 God's word on it, oh, I cannot describe, 12:05 I feel so proud of them, at the same time, 12:09 I know that God is in everything of this, 12:13 in our ministry, 12:14 I saw the people reading the message, 12:16 I see the people enjoying, see them playing, 12:20 and it is incredible how mom I can feel in that moment, 12:25 and I can understand 12:28 that God is planning something special on the way, 12:33 I know that God is gonna open doors 12:37 in the way that He only can do it 12:40 and we are so happy because we, 12:42 we saw the powerful hand of God in all of this. 12:46 Yes. 12:47 Now, your boys are eventually here 12:49 in the next few years, 12:51 you are gonna be good enough and may already be to play 12:53 like in the Olympics, you know, the world Olympics. 12:56 Now, if they have the Olympic 12:59 and you work your way all the way up to the Olympics, 13:02 you can represent Puerto Rico or American Olympics 13:05 and the games are on Saturday, don't you think, maybe, 13:08 you can make that an exception 13:09 and go ahead and play on Sabbath? 13:11 We will still not play if it was the Olympics, 13:15 if it was Sunday. 13:17 Really? You wouldn't play on Sabbath? 13:19 Even in Sunday, we shouldn't play 13:21 because the Olympic is a praise for the god Olympia. 13:26 Oh, I see. 13:28 Oh, have mercy. 13:29 That's why we change the world champion. 13:32 They rather compete in world championship. 13:34 I see world champions in Olympics. 13:36 'Cause it's the adoration of the goddess Olympia. 13:39 They taught me some, thank you for teaching me that today. 13:44 So you want to play in world champions but you, 13:46 you wouldn't play on the Sabbath? 13:48 No. No. 13:49 And why not? 13:51 Because that's the law of God, that's why. 13:54 Okay, the law of God, the fourth commandment says, 13:56 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy." 13:58 Yeah. 13:59 "Six days thou shall labor and do all thy work 14:01 but the seventh day is the Sabbath." 14:03 What is the seventh day? What day of the week? 14:05 Seventh. 14:06 Yeah, the seventh but what day of the week? 14:08 Monday? Tuesday? Wednesday? 14:10 Saturday. Saturday, right? 14:12 So from Friday evening sundown 14:14 to the Saturday evening sundown, no matter what, 14:17 and these tournaments that you play, if they say, 14:19 "Well, you could play and you'll win a $1000." 14:22 And, you know, you've watched a competitor and you say, 14:25 "I'm sure, I could win that." 14:27 You're still not gonna play on Sabbath? 14:29 No. No. 14:30 That's wonderful. Isn't that wonderful? 14:32 Because Jesus says, 14:34 "He who puts mother, father, sister, brother, 14:36 you know, ahead of Him is not worthy of Him." 14:39 So what they're saying is, you know, 14:41 more important than anything here on this earth 14:44 is serving the Lord, right? 14:46 Yep. 14:47 As in the long run, that's what counts. 14:49 What we wanna do, we can talk some more about that, 14:51 but we have a little bit of video, 14:52 I think they came over to our school 14:55 and we want to give it a little idea about their plan, 14:57 and I think Tita Dinzey kind of got up a little video, 15:00 so we wanna show that 15:02 and then we'll come back and talk some more. 17:02 Oh, amen, well, you can have mercy, 17:05 I saw that you were just letting up a little bit 17:07 on the court so, so you as a family, 17:10 you're willing to go to churches and schools 17:12 and literally put on these, 17:15 these, I don't want to say performances, 17:16 what would you call? 17:18 Exhibitions, where you can play 17:20 with the kids and the young people, 17:21 but you can encourage them in the Lord 17:23 and give them a chance to play, 17:25 and then also, the Dare to Dream, 17:28 he sent me a challenge, 17:30 will have to show that in a minute, 17:31 he challenged, the only reason 17:33 that we were supposed to be in Houston, but I said, 17:35 "Well, we have to change your schedule a little bit." 17:38 Because I just found on Facebook 17:41 that this young man 17:44 put a challenge to Danny Shelton 17:46 that he could beat me playing table tennis, 17:50 and so I think what we'll do here 17:52 in just a minute, 17:53 and that's the reason this all came about, 17:54 I said, "You know what? 17:56 I might have to stay here and play this kid." 17:58 I said, "No, I haven't played in a long time, 17:59 but I used to be pretty good, but he's only nine years old." 18:02 Now there's no way nine- year-old kid 18:05 surely can play table tennis that good, right? 18:08 I mean, he's nine years old. 18:10 But I said, "No, this is fun. 18:11 He is sitting here, they're giving God the credit 18:14 for everything they do, but he challenged me, 18:16 so maybe if we have that roll, I'd like to put that on 18:20 and show why we had our big match yesterday 18:23 that we're leading up to. 18:25 First of all, I wanna say all the respect 18:28 to Danny Shelton for spreading the gospel news 18:32 and telling about Jesus Christ. 18:34 I'm doing this video for one purpose, 18:37 to inspire all the kids to Dare to Dream. 18:40 I want to challenge you Danny Shelton 18:42 to table tennis game, 18:44 I'm gonna show you right now what I got in four years. 18:56 That's what I got in four years. 18:58 Oh, and I forgot, I'm gonna put this on YouTube, 19:01 see you there. 19:05 I love that little, at the end. 19:07 When I saw that, I said, "Okay, I'm gonna play this kid." 19:11 And then, I found out it gets worse, 19:13 then he's got an older brother and then his dad, 19:15 and then his mom, they all play, 19:17 and so we stayed and we had a great time playing some, 19:22 they came over to my house in the basement, 19:24 I bought a table, and I bought a new paddle, 19:27 'cause I thought, "Well, if I have a new paddle, 19:29 it'll make me a better player." 19:30 That didn't seem to help but anyway, 19:33 that's not the way you do it, what I found out, of course, 19:35 it's through practice, right? 19:38 So tell us what you're doing... 19:39 You're living where, right now? 19:41 We're living in, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. 19:43 Okay, so you came from Puerto Rico to Oshkosh 19:46 and what would take you up from, from the warm, 19:48 warm weather of the Puerto Rico, 19:51 all the way up to Oshkosh? 19:57 We've been asking the Lord for a long time 20:00 how we can take our ministry 20:04 to bigger and better places, all around the nation, 20:07 and all of a sudden, I applied for this position 20:09 and I used to work, I worked with the federal government 20:11 and I applied for a position in Wisconsin, with USDA, 20:15 and by God's grace, I guess I got selected. 20:18 Okay. 20:19 And I had my relocations paid and everything 20:21 and that would bring us to Oshkosh, 20:25 but God has given this promise way before that, 20:27 He said that my kids will go to the nations 20:30 and many people will bow to Jesus' feet 20:32 through their testimony. 20:34 Oh, that's so wonderful. 20:35 I think this was planned way, way much before. 20:39 Yeah, and it's amazing they both have that desire, 20:42 not just one of them, but they both have that desire 20:44 and how many, now, Kenai, 20:46 how many hours do you play a day on average, 20:50 other than Sabbath? 20:51 Three to four or five. 20:52 Three and four and five hours, you play table tennis. 20:56 And I saw some of the practices 20:58 where Dad has a whole box of balls 21:00 and he's just hitting them to you 21:02 and you're just hitting them, hitting them, and you just, 21:04 and one after another after another, I mean, 21:07 you just keep going and, you guys, 21:08 do you play together quite a bit really hard? 21:12 Yes, sometimes. 21:13 Some of the things they do is more for exhibition, like, 21:16 probably for the layman, we say, wow, 21:19 they stand back from the table and hit the ball and, boy, 21:22 you were all amazed by it, 21:24 but that's not even what they do in games, 21:26 because in games, it's much tougher, like, 21:28 when you're doing that, 21:29 you're going to each other's strengths 21:31 but when you're in a game, 21:32 now you're thinking and you're like, 21:34 "Okay, this guy is blind in the right eye, 21:36 so I'll go over here and hit his right eye 21:38 like he did me." 21:40 Look at him here, no shame whatsoever, 21:42 win it me in my weakness 21:44 but that's what you do, you know, when you aim, 21:46 but the beauty of this 21:49 and I want people to understand it, 21:50 because there are people who say, 21:52 "Well, you know, sports, that's the physical, 21:55 we shouldn't be involved in sports." 21:57 I have people, I've played basketball 21:58 literally all my life, you guys, 22:00 seen my video in basketball? 22:01 Oh, yeah. 22:03 I've played it all my life 22:04 and, you know, now I'm an old man, 22:05 but I still love playing, but people say, 22:07 "Oh, you shouldn't play basketball." 22:10 You know, I said, "Why not?" 22:11 First of all, it's good exercise. 22:13 "Well, you shouldn't keep score." 22:14 "Why not? 22:16 My dad always said, 'Whatever you do, 22:17 do the best you can do.'" 22:18 The idea is you play with all of your might, 22:21 whatever you do, you do it, 22:22 but you don't get angry if you lose, you don't, 22:25 competition is different than, than when you're playing, 22:29 you can play to win 22:30 but what I look at 22:32 it is competition is different than when, 22:35 like schools get together, 22:37 like we used to in West Frankfurt and Benton, 22:39 there are football 22:40 and these are like grudge matches, 22:42 you know, people get together and you, you want to win, 22:45 the whole town is for your team and so that's like rivalry, 22:49 so there is a difference in competition and rivalry. 22:53 Competition is you try to be the best you can be. 22:56 How many of you at your jobs 22:58 don't try to be the best you can be? 23:00 You wanna be the best. 23:02 How many of you no matter what you're doing, 23:04 you try to be the best at what you're doing? 23:06 It's not necessarily just in scripture, 23:09 been in our life in general, we try to be the best, 23:12 you have a doctor's degree, 23:14 you wanted to do the best that you could be 23:16 in the naturopathic medicine 23:20 so, you, you really worked hard for that. 23:24 Yeah, and as you're saying, this, it's actually scriptural, 23:27 Paul says, "We strive for the mastery." 23:30 So we strive to be the best that we can be, 23:33 we're in a race. 23:35 Yeah. 23:36 Paul says, "We're in a race." 23:37 He says, "I fought a good fight and I run a good race." 23:40 So for any of you that have that doubt, 23:41 there is a difference. 23:42 This is not rivalry, 23:44 competition is you do the best that you can do 23:46 and give God the glory 23:48 for whatever it is that you accomplish 23:50 and so I've not always done that in my life, 23:52 but I wanna do that, in the last number of years, 23:55 I've been trying to do that more. 23:57 These young guys are doing that already in their life 23:59 and that's because of the parents, 24:01 it's because 24:02 of what you are instilling in this kids, 24:05 so you, you young guys, for your parents, 24:09 you owe them everything, 24:10 because if it weren't for your parents, 24:13 you wouldn't be where you are today, 24:15 but they're teaching you about the love of God 24:18 and they're teaching you, 24:20 and what Dad is doing and Mom is doing, 24:22 they're giving you the most valuable, 24:24 you know the most valuable thing they have, is their time, 24:28 and they're giving you the time, 24:30 so many kids today, 24:32 their parents don't spend any time with them 24:35 or very little and yet, you are fortunate enough 24:39 that your parents spend hours and hours and hours, 24:42 so what they're doing is they're traveling 24:44 and to different churches, 24:46 witnessing for the Lord during different events, 24:49 they're going to tournaments and I have no doubt, 24:51 you guys will be in the world games, 24:53 if you don't choose not to be in the Olympics, 24:55 that's fine, 24:57 but you're gonna be in the world games, 24:58 because you're really that good, 25:00 but now, you are playing, tell me, Kenai, 25:03 you played against a German guy, 25:05 tell me about this German guy. 25:07 Who is he? 25:08 Jorgen Persson. 25:10 Yes, is he? 25:11 He's a legend. He's a legend. 25:13 Okay, I kind of know what that is. 25:15 My dad used to tell me, 25:16 "Son, you're a legend in your own mind." 25:18 Here we go, look at this. 25:21 He's not a German, he's Swede. 25:23 Oh, Swiss, Swedish. 25:25 But look at you, how did you get to play 25:28 with somebody that famous, who's a legend in table tennis? 25:31 Well, he's tall. Yeah. 25:33 How did you get to play? 25:35 They wouldn't let me walk in there 25:36 and play with him, how did you get that? 25:40 My mom and me went there and we said, 25:42 "Can we play with you?" 25:44 And that's how it all started. 25:45 Really? Wow! 25:47 Something about him must've impressed you, 25:48 'cause I know he wouldn't just play with anybody. 25:51 Well, I'm, I took you up, 25:53 I took him up on that challenge, 25:54 so I said, "You know what?" 25:56 But I went to my Facebook friends 25:58 and I said, "Now what should I do 26:00 because I've got a nine-year-old 26:03 who's challenged me in ping-pong 26:06 and I showed a little bit of the challenge." 26:09 And you know what they said to me, 26:10 instead of encouraging me, 26:12 Facebook friends, instead of encouraging me, 26:15 they said stuff like, 26:16 "You better fake a hip accident. 26:19 You better, you know, 26:20 make sure that something's wrong with you. 26:22 You better find excuses not to play 26:25 because this kid's going to take you down." 26:28 Now I said, "What in the world..." 26:30 So I said, "Well, let me think about it. 26:32 I'll have to do something." 26:33 So I invited him over to the basement of our house 26:37 and said, "Come on over and let's play." 26:40 I said "ping-pong", but they corrected me, 26:41 it's table tennis. 26:43 So I want to put on this video, you're gonna see 26:47 and I'm not gonna tell you that I beat him now 26:50 or anything like that, 26:53 but I was very tempted, with our technology we have, 26:57 you know, you can make anything look like one of those, 27:00 so I thought, I think for Kenai, 27:02 I should put one just that shows me beating him, 27:05 I couldn't really do that. 27:07 These kids are incredible at what they do. 27:08 And we had a blast, it's a great fun, 27:11 I'll remember for a long time and hopefully, they will too 27:14 and we ended up 27:16 after it was all over praying together 27:18 and eating pizza together. 27:20 So why don't we go to this little video now? 27:24 The moment has come. 27:26 We have received Itziar and Kenai here 27:29 in Thompsonville, 27:31 Illinois, at the 3ABN Community Center 27:34 waiting for Danny Shelton, that's right. 27:36 Danny Shelton, do you remember 27:38 what you wrote here on Facebook? 27:41 You said, "I'm blind in my right eye. 27:44 I'm a grandfather of eight grandkids 27:47 and I'll start and you can start draining 27:50 or gaining social security, ha," 27:53 You say, "I wonder if you'll feel bad beating me." 27:56 They won't. 27:57 "What goes around comes around, about 40 years ago, 28:01 I beat a one-legged man in ping-pong 28:04 and only felt a little guilty about it." 28:08 I'll tell you what? 28:09 You have no chance, Danny, and sorry to tell you, 28:13 they have played against players 28:15 as six feet four inches tall, and they have won the match. 28:20 So we are excited for this opportunity. 28:23 I hope you have been training and warming up 28:25 because you're in for the match. 28:28 It's the match of the year. 28:30 My kids are ready for you. 28:31 Are you? 28:33 The day is finally here and I'm gonna beat you. 28:39 You guys, ready to warm up? 28:40 Yes. 28:42 Let's do this. 28:45 Let's do this. 28:49 You guys, all right, come here, let's put the racket here 28:52 and let's do some leg warm-up, okay? 28:53 Yeah. Let's go like this. 28:54 Come on, come on, go, go, go. 28:56 Good, good, come here, Itziar. 29:01 And turn around. 29:04 I trained four hours a day, 29:06 I doubt you even do less than one. 29:14 I've been playing most of my life. 29:18 This is table tennis, not ping-pong, 29:22 you're not playing ping-pong here, 29:23 we're playing table tennis and it takes skills, 29:27 it takes a lot of practice and concentration. 29:31 Right, guys? Yes. 29:33 Here we go, table tennis. 29:36 I was waiting for this moment one week ago. 29:41 And I'm ready for it. 29:43 Sometimes, I do some chops. 29:48 Maybe intense ones 29:49 that Danny Shelton would never get, 29:51 receive those. 29:53 I am positive. 29:55 I'm positive that gonna take a gallop, 30:00 side spin, top spin, chop, and attack. 30:08 I'm gonna do side spin, top spin, and the tricker. 30:15 Sorry, I missed it, oh, this is the tricker. 30:20 It looks like I'm gonna put it over there, 30:22 but I actually put it... 30:24 My trick is to beat him no matter what. 30:29 Are these ping-pong players here? 30:33 Hi, here. 30:34 I may come, I wanna see him. 30:40 I wanna, no, I'm not one to make excuses 30:44 about getting beat or anything, 30:47 so I just want you to know 30:49 that it's been a while and things, 30:53 can we talk a little bit before we play? 30:59 Now, hi, boys. 31:03 Sorry, I can't. This is, you know what that is? 31:06 That's biofreeze, that's when you, 31:08 when you get older, it'll be a constant companion, 31:11 you spray that on you. 31:13 Now before we play a little bit, I got to ask, 31:15 let me sit over here, okay? 31:20 Okay, now, 31:23 I think I got a challenge from you on Facebook, 31:28 is that right? 31:29 Yeah. 31:30 And you called me out to play? 31:32 Yeah. 31:34 And I asked some of my Facebook friends 31:36 what I should do and they watched you play 31:39 and you know what they said? 31:41 What? 31:42 You better act like you're hurt 'cause you're gonna get beat. 31:45 So make some excuses, so I thought, "What can I do?" 31:50 Got me a cane, band-aids, 31:54 now I'm hoping you'll feel sorry for me, so... 31:57 What? 31:59 You're not going to feel sorry for me? 32:00 It's funny. 32:02 You're not gonna feel sorry for... 32:03 Well, let me ask you this. 32:05 How old are you? 32:06 Twelve. Twelve. 32:08 How old are you? Nine. 32:09 Nine. 32:10 I'm 65, you know how old 65 is, how old is your dad? 32:15 Forty five... Forty eight. 32:16 Forty eight and twelve is sixty and you're, 32:20 so I'm as old as you and your dad, you, 32:22 both of you boys and your dad put together. 32:24 Now, will that have you a little mercy on me, maybe? 32:27 No. You guys are tough. 32:30 Okay. 32:32 Do you know anything about social security? 32:35 Like, when you get real old, 32:36 you get to draw social security, 32:38 I get to draw social security now. 32:40 No, there's not any. 32:41 There's no, okay, now, I'm blind in my right eye, 32:44 will that help any? 32:46 No. No. 32:47 Okay, I've got a severed ACO which I really do in my right, 32:51 now will that have you any mercy on me? 32:53 No. 32:56 Well, you guys are tough. 32:58 No excuses. 33:00 No excuses, these guys are tough. 33:03 All right, well, I'm gonna try 33:04 and see if I can get rid of the cane. 33:07 Oh, and get rid of the arm band, 33:10 don't worry about this, 33:11 make you feel bad at all beating me, 33:13 when I'm in this bad a shape, just a little. 33:20 Little kind of, 33:22 oh, hey, that made me feel a little better 33:25 I'm gonna pull this off now. 33:28 I'm starting to feel better now, 33:30 okay, I'm feeling little better. 33:32 I'm feeling a little better so much 33:34 my mike came to stay with me, 33:35 I'm ready to play some ping-pong, 33:37 now who's first? 33:38 Me Me. 33:40 No, I'm going little ones first. 33:41 Okay. 33:43 Now, you won't let me, you know, 33:45 I bought this table new and I bought me a new paddle. 33:50 What's that? My paddle. 33:52 That's a paddle, that's thicker than my leg. 33:55 Well, let me see that, 33:57 oh, I bet that probably cost 20 bucks. 33:59 No. 34:01 Nothing, my brother, 34:02 my dad's racket costs like $500. 34:04 What? Yeah. 34:09 These are sweating off, now when I hear that, 34:11 they won't even stick. 34:13 How many more do I have up here? 34:15 All right, now, you guys don't spin I hope, right? 34:18 You don't, like spin the ball when you hit. 34:20 Yes, we do. 34:21 I don't know how to get... 34:23 That's what I said in the video, 34:24 we're gonna do the side spin. 34:25 You did a spin. 34:27 All right, let me show you my paddles, 34:28 see what you think about it. 34:30 I figured if I bought like, if I'm playing basketball 34:32 and I bought a new basketball 34:34 and I bought a new suit that said, Stephan Curry, 34:37 it would make me be a great player, 34:39 so I said, if I buy a new table and a new paddle, 34:42 that will make me, 34:44 even I haven't played in 15 years, 34:45 so this will make me a good player, is that right? 34:47 No. No. 34:49 It takes practice. Don't think that'll help me? 34:52 Well, okay, look at this now. 34:57 Did that scare you? No. 34:59 Nothing scares you, does it? 35:02 Have mercy. 35:03 Now you don't feel bad, 35:04 I've only played once or twice in 15 years, 35:06 you don't feel bad about that? 35:08 Uh-huh. 35:09 Okay, all right, now, you got to take it easy on me 35:12 and first, right? 35:22 Is that how you warm-up? 35:24 Yeah. 35:25 You warm-up like this? 35:29 What? 35:37 All right, take that. 35:41 May not, may not happen again the rest of the day, 35:44 I just tucked my paddle out and it went back. 36:10 Five-two. 36:16 That makes you happy. 36:20 Eight-seven, that made me happy. 36:29 Oh, no, that wasn't good. 36:37 Oh. 36:38 Eleven, all. 36:41 Overtime. 36:47 Ha-ha, I knew you can't see in the right eye. 36:52 Okay, I got to hand it to you, I gotta hand it to you, buddy, 36:55 that's tough. 36:57 That's what I like, you've got the killer instinct. 37:00 Don't give up when your competitor competes. 37:04 Oh, I don't if that's legal to use your right hand or not, 37:06 is it when you're playing left? 37:07 No, it isn't. 37:09 What? It's not! 37:10 Who made that rule? 37:12 You're ambidextrous. 37:15 Yeah, it's my house, I can do what I want to. 37:19 We don't care about the rules. 37:24 Five-two. 37:25 You're messing with the wrong person. 37:47 Oh, no. I hit my own finger. 38:02 I've had a little mercy so far, man, let me talk to you. 38:08 All right, wait a minute. 38:25 Good game. 38:30 You know, I just want folks at home 38:31 that know I have mercy on kids when they come. 38:34 You can tell I was just not trying. 38:38 Not even close. Forgive me, Lord. 38:40 No even close. 38:42 These guys are great, 38:43 but I know I can beat you again now, 38:44 after playing him. 38:46 Get up here. 38:47 You get up here. 38:55 Just another ball. 38:59 Okay. Let's see you do this. 39:04 Now you're making me mad. 39:10 Okay, it's all right. 39:14 Now get ready, go down like a man. 39:17 Okay, 12-10, 39:20 get that on camera, 39:22 erase, erase everything else. 39:25 Erase all the other video. Good job, son. 39:31 You said, erase everything. 39:34 Yeah, finally, got a point that erased everything else. 39:39 That was so good, you know, 39:42 one of the things that I love about what you do 39:45 is that it opens up doors for you to talk to people 39:49 who would never know anything about God. 39:51 Didi, tell us a little bit about, 39:54 you were telling me something yesterday 39:56 about who the children play with 39:59 and, and how they are being impacted by, 40:02 by the spirituality of the kids. 40:05 Yes. 40:06 God is amazing. 40:08 We're from Fox Valley Church in Neenah 40:12 and we talk about to pastor 40:15 Cha Ahn and Paul Corner 40:17 to see if there's a possibility that we can start 40:21 a table tennis club in the church. 40:24 And my husband, he decides to spend his time 40:27 and give free lesson, table tennis lesson there, 40:30 that actually I think is the only place 40:33 and always consented give free table tennis lessons 40:37 to the community, 40:38 so at the same time, we want to use that 40:41 because you open to the community the facilities 40:44 and they give us the opportunity 40:47 to use the table tennis platform 40:49 to spread God's word. 40:51 So it's incredible how the, how we, right now, 40:54 we have a Chinese family, we have Monk family, 40:58 they don't know about God, 41:00 they have their own believers and it's incredible 41:03 because they know that we are Christian, 41:06 that we keep holy the commandments, 41:08 that our table tennis club, our name is God's Air 41:14 and they come and they enjoy it with us, 41:17 not only table tennis, 41:19 they are enjoying with us God's word 41:22 because we start every practice reading something about Jesus 41:27 and we finally pray and they make reverence 41:32 and they're still there hearing God's word. 41:35 It is incredible how God is working through this port 41:40 and that's one of the story, 41:42 God are doing amazing things through our ministry. 41:46 So we are so happy and we are, 41:48 and we feel blessing and thankful to God 41:52 because we feel that He was there all the time 41:55 and I'm pretty sure that very soon 41:59 God is gonna do something amazing 42:02 in all this family. 42:04 Absolutely. Great, that's great. 42:06 And you were telling me, Pablo, 42:08 that a lot of the people you play, 42:11 you know, they may be from Oriental or Indian 42:15 and a lot of 'cause this is a universal game, 42:18 and so you have a chance to witness to them 42:21 about the Lord and the very fact that you, 42:24 the messages that you're giving what's on your jacket, 42:27 now I also understand that you had 42:29 a year's sponsorship from Butterfly. 42:32 Tell us about Butterfly in case someone doesn't know 42:36 who Butterfly is. 42:37 Well, Butterfly would be, what it is Nike to basketball. 42:42 Okay. 42:43 So Butterfly would be that top selling, 42:44 most of the top selling brands in table tennis equipment. 42:47 Yes. 42:48 So it was sponsored for one year 42:50 and they saw them playing and they decided to sponsor 42:54 and we did tell them, 42:55 "Are you sure what you want to do? 42:56 We do not play on a Saturday. 42:58 I know there's, you want you're here, 43:01 your brand to be seen." 43:02 And they really didn't pay much attention to that, 43:05 they were very kind. 43:06 Ravagers from Puerto Rico was very kind with us 43:10 and he sponsored them for a year 43:13 and he helped us put a table 43:15 to acquire a table tennis, yeah. 43:17 Wonderful. 43:18 Well, I had this idea and I'd kind of like to do, 43:20 I talked to Yvonne about it, that we talked to a donor 43:26 that is willing to put up some money 43:29 on behalf of 3ABN, not a lot of money 43:32 but a sponsorship because we want you, 43:34 as you are traveling to the different places, 43:37 to have 3ABN on your jackets, right? 43:40 Not just Butterfly or somebody else, 43:43 but people are gonna ask you, "Well, 3ABN, who is that?" 43:47 Then you can tell them how to download the apps 43:49 on their phones and their iPads 43:51 and how to go to the computer and how to watch on television, 43:54 so we'll give you some literature, 43:57 some little about 3ABN, how to watch 3ABN 44:00 and all the different channels, we have our Latino 44:03 and, Kenai, we have our Kids' Time Network 44:06 and so we're gonna introduce you guys to Miss Brenda too, 44:09 'cause I'm sure she'll wanna do some programs with you. 44:12 Did you ever watch Kids' Time? 44:13 Yeah. Yeah. 44:14 Yeah, you remember watching that. 44:16 Okay, and you remember Miss Brenda, 44:17 she's gonna be very excited to meet you guys 44:20 and I'm sure she'll be able to work with you too. 44:23 Then I think Tita is gonna work with the Dinzeys from Latino 44:28 but what I would like to do, 44:30 we have somebody, so we'll have, 44:31 we're gonna help with the sponsorship 44:33 because when we see a family that's dedicated to the Lord 44:37 and there are people who believe, 44:40 they live what they believe 44:42 and keeping the seventh-day Sabbath 44:44 is very important to them, 44:46 so they're missing tremendous opportunities 44:48 as far as world acclaim goes 44:51 but that's not what they're looking for, 44:52 but they're using it as an opportunity 44:55 to witness as to why we don't play 44:58 on the Sabbath 44:59 and as they get older in the next four, 45:01 if you can imagine what they become in four years, 45:04 four years from now where they will be, 45:06 at the levels they'll be playing. 45:08 Yes. 45:09 I think they'll get world acclaim 45:12 because they have the dedication 45:14 and the talent to do it, but we want to support them 45:18 because they're uplifting Jesus 45:20 and so what we're gonna do is we're gonna try to, 45:23 we're gonna ask our viewers at home 45:25 that if you would like to support, 45:27 because they really, 45:29 they don't really have the money to do this, 45:31 it's something they've decided to do in spite of the fact 45:35 that it actually cost money and they go to tournaments 45:38 and they go to different churches, 45:39 to go to places to witness, it's a ministry, this says, 45:43 Limitless Sports Ministry, 45:46 and we serve a God 45:47 that's not limited in the resources. 45:48 That's right, that's right. 45:50 So we're actually gonna ask some of you, 45:52 if you feel like giving $50 dollars or $100 45:56 or maybe even a $1000 or whether it's $10, 45:59 I'd like to put an address up on the screen in just a moment 46:02 and you pray and say, "You know what? 46:04 I wanna support this family 46:05 because they're going as a family." 46:07 They're gonna go into areas that you and I could never go. 46:09 That's right. 46:10 I mean, we have to face it, we would never get 46:12 and to meet some of the people 46:15 that are some of the top players in the world 46:18 and to be able to witness to them 46:20 and to talk to them 46:22 and just what they wear on their coat. 46:24 Yes. 46:25 The ping-pong balls, what they say, 46:28 and people respect, whether we like it or not, 46:30 they, it's like, Yvonne, 46:32 Miss Yvonne has boys, seven or eight gold 46:36 and platinum records, you know what that is? 46:38 When you sell a million records and that's a platinum, right? 46:42 Yeah. 46:44 Is gold a half a million, half a million and, people, 46:46 she sang with people like Whitney Houston 46:49 who are famous singers 46:50 and Luther Vandross, 46:51 I know the boys don't recognize the name, 46:54 Mom's jaw went, just down, when I said that, 46:57 so she has these gold and platinum records, 47:00 but she gives God the honor and glory... 47:02 Amen. For that. 47:04 She doesn't take it but that's a witness 47:06 because people in the world are impressed by that, 47:09 so it opens a door for her to be, 47:11 now we travel a lot, 47:13 when we travel together on the airplane, 47:15 she'll never bring it up 47:16 but if I see someone's interested or they talk music, 47:19 then I'll bring it up and talk about her, 47:22 you know, that and then she can witness to them 47:24 about Jesus 47:25 and that's the kind of doors God is opening for you all. 47:28 Yes, Danny, this is something maybe you don't know 47:32 but when we... 47:34 Idalia called us to give us an invitation 47:39 to come here to 3ABN, 47:41 we are so excited because that is like a promise 47:44 that God gave me years ago 47:48 but at the same time, I was very excited, 47:50 she tell me this is gonna be one day of interview, 47:52 then she said, "Okay, send me some recommendation letters 47:56 and more profile about the ministry." 47:59 And she called me back in a few days and she's like, 48:02 "I'm asking to see it is possible 48:05 that you can be with us a whole week." 48:08 I'm like, "A whole week! That long takes an interview." 48:12 And she said, 'No, no, we want, that you to do everything, 48:15 would you visit the churches 48:16 and the academies and everything? 48:18 And I said, "Well that's great, of course." 48:22 But in that moment, I was very emotional 48:25 and when two hours later, I, you know, 48:29 understand the information how it is, 48:33 I said, "Yes, we don't have a car. 48:35 We have an old car 48:37 that we only can travel pushing a little bit, 48:40 the car to me walk it and that's it." 48:42 So I said, "We have to rent a car." 48:45 And in that moment, 48:46 we don't have money to rent a car 48:49 and it's incredible 48:50 because nobody know about our situation, 48:55 nobody, even my mom, my sister, nobody and I said, 49:00 "Pablo, we're going to 3ABN a whole week." 49:02 He said, "Oh! That's amazing." 49:04 "How are we gonna do it? 49:06 Our car is so old." 49:07 And said, "I don't know. Let's see what happens." 49:10 I was a little bit worried and I let some day pass to see 49:14 if God, you know, do a miracle but nothing happened 49:18 and Idalia and some people of 3ABN, 49:20 "Everything is okay here, we have this set." 49:22 And, "Oh, yeah, everything is running okay." 49:24 And then we received a call from Dr. Paul Corners, 49:28 he's one of our sponsors and he say, "You know what? 49:34 You got the car, 49:36 I pay for the car for the whole week." 49:39 And we started jumping in the house, 49:41 "Oh yeah, we got the car, that's awesome." 49:44 So in a moment, we say, "Okay, we have the car, 49:47 but we don't have the gas. 49:48 How are we gonna pay for the gas? 49:50 Maybe we have the money to put gas in the car 49:53 just to Chicago but not returning." 49:56 I'm like, "Okay," and I say, "Well, if God gave us a car. 50:01 God, He's very smart, 50:04 so He's gonna give us the gas." 50:07 But it's incredible, we went to the church 50:11 and Dr. Corner, Dr. Paul Corner gave us the envelope, 50:16 white envelope, he said, it's incredible. 50:19 Look at this, nobody know about the situation 50:24 and Paul Corner gave us this envelope and he said, 50:27 "This is a family from the church. 50:30 We don't know who they are right now 50:32 that gave this money for helping for the gas." 50:38 Okay. Was it specific to our need? 50:42 He can say, 50:43 "Oh, they said this is for helping to the travel." 50:46 No, for the gas. 50:48 I still crying, but oh, my goodness, 50:51 isn't God amazing? 50:53 And then another, the family that helped us 50:56 to write the ping-pong balls, 50:58 they went at home and they give Itziar and Kenai, 51:01 they bring a travel box with a lot of snacks, 51:05 some travel cards for the kids and everything 51:08 and another family helped us too. 51:12 So we are here by the mercy of God 51:16 and because God touched the heart of these people 51:19 and the, a strange thing about this is, 51:22 I asked everyone apart, "Why do you do this? 51:26 How that can happen? Nobody know about this. 51:29 Only God and us." 51:31 And he all, all, all they said, "God put that in my heart." 51:35 All right, praise the Lord, 51:37 you know our time is just about gone 51:38 but what I'd like to do 51:40 is I'd like to put up their address 51:42 and if the Holy Spirit's impressing you 51:44 and you want to send whatever love gift 51:47 that the Holy Spirit is impressing, 51:48 I know that this family has a ministry 51:51 that's gonna make an impact on the world. 51:54 They already are in the world that they're in 51:57 but as these boys grow older 51:58 and abilities they have and the talent. 52:00 And they're gonna be able to witness to Jesus, 52:03 to people around the world. 52:04 So if you would like to support them, 52:07 you may do so at the following address. 52:11 If you would like more information 52:12 about this ministry or how you can support it, 52:14 then you can write to, 52:16 Limitless Sports Ministry, 299 South Westhaven Drive, 52:19 I102 Oshkosh, Wisconsin, 54904. 52:24 That's Limitless Sports Ministry, 52:26 299 South Westhaven Drive, 52:28 I102 Oshkosh, Wisconsin, 54904. 52:33 You can call 920-636-1767, 52:37 that's 920- 6361767. 52:41 You can e-mail them at PabloRiosTorres@gmail.com 52:45 or visit them on Facebook at itziarkenai.rios. |
