privilege 16:45 that we have to come before the Lord 16:49 and recognize that everything we have 16:52 is from Him. 16:54 And the day that we're living, 16:56 this breath that we're breathing, 16:57 it's all from Him. 17:00 In Psalm 73:25, 26, 17:05 I want to read... 17:06 That's a great, great psalm, the whole psalm itself. 17:10 It starts out, it says, "Truly God is good to Israel, 17:15 even to those who are upright and pure in heart." 17:19 So we think this is going to be an adoration of scripture 17:24 but then in verse 2, the Psalmist says, 17:28 "But as for me, my feet were almost gone, 17:32 my steps had well-nigh slipped. 17:34 For I was envious of the foolish and arrogant, 17:37 when I saw the prosperity of the wicked." 17:40 We begin to see that the Psalmist's heart 17:42 changing already and just in two verses, 17:45 he starts out in verse 1, 17:47 I'm going to worship the Lord, 17:48 He is God, will always be God. 17:50 But let me say where my heart was in 17:52 by verse 2, he' saying, 17:54 I became envious of the wicked. 17:57 And that's easy to do, right? 17:58 I mean, just look around you, 18:00 you see people that are better off 18:02 than you are or who have things 18:03 that you have that you may want 18:05 or their talents or their situations, their, 18:09 even their physical condition, 18:11 their health may be better than what yours is, 18:14 but he continues to read 18:17 how it just really ate at him the Psalmist 18:21 that he was so tore up, 18:25 it with envy and envy. 18:29 Yeah, I guess it's overall envy. 18:32 But then in verse 17, 18:34 he finally comes to his senses so to speak. 18:37 And it says, "Until I went into the sanctuary of God, 18:42 then I understood their end." 18:46 And then in verse 23, it says, 18:48 "I am continually with You, God, 18:51 You do hold my right hand. 18:53 You will guide me with Your counsel 18:54 and afterward receive me to honor and glory." 18:58 And verse 25 is where this song starts, 19:01 where we talk about "Whom have I in heaven but You? 19:05 And besides You I have no desire on earth." 19:24 Whom have I in heaven 19:28 But Thee 19:30 And beside thee I desire nothing on earth 19:37 My flesh and my heart are weak and they fail 19:43 But God is the strength of my heart 19:51 God, the Lord is the strength of my heart 19:57 He's my portion forever 20:03 Yes, the Lord my God is the strength of my heart 20:10 Your nearness 20:12 Oh, God is my good 20:27 When my heart was bitter within 20:32 All my senses had gone 20:35 And I was blind before Thee 20:40 That's when the Lord 20:42 Took hold of my hand 20:46 And He was the strength of my heart 20:53 God, the Lord is the strength of my heart 20:59 He's my portion forever 21:05 Yes, the Lord my God is the strength of my heart 21:12 Your nearness 21:14 Oh, God is my good 21:19 Your nearness 21:21 Oh, God is my good 21:30 Lord, just to be near You, 21:32 that's what I want. 21:35 I want to be where You are 21:37 dwelling daily in Your presence. 21:39 Feasting at your table, 21:40 surrounded by Your goodness, Lord. 21:44 For Your nearness 21:46 Oh, God 21:48 For Your nearness 21:50 Oh, God is my good 22:02 Your only Son no sin to hide 22:08 But You have sent me from Your side 22:14 To walk upon this guilty sod 22:20 And to become the Lamb of God 22:27 Oh, Lamb of God, sweet Lamb of God 22:34 I love the holy Lamb of God 22:40 Oh, wash me in His precious blood 22:46 My Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God 22:58 Your gift of love, they crucified 23:04 They laughed and scorned Him as He died 23:10 The humble positive 25:27 that you try to look at each day, 25:30 there are some times 25:31 when we go along in life's journey 25:34 and we get busy with life. 25:42 And things just, 25:44 they're not what they used to be, right? 25:48 We get older and we get maybe lackadaisical 25:51 in our walk with the Lord. 25:53 We stop reading His Word. 25:56 You know, it's just like when we make, 25:58 if you're inclined to make resolutions 26:01 at the beginning of the year that you say, 26:02 I'm going to start working out 26:04 and I'm going to start eating better, 26:06 or I'm going to start visiting people 26:09 in the nursing home, 26:11 I'm going to make a change this year. 26:14 And then about February, we begin finding excuses. 26:20 You know how it is. 26:22 When we're recording this program, 26:25 it's almost halfway through the year. 26:28 And I look back and I see things 26:29 that I thought, "Wait a minute, 26:32 I'm not doing so well on what I said 26:34 I was going to do." 26:38 I'm so grateful that we serve a Heavenly Father 26:43 that time is nothing to Him, 26:46 but commitment is everything to Him. 26:49 And person, our relationship, 26:51 personal relationship is everything to Him. 26:54 And He doesn't care what time of year it is 26:57 or where you are, 27:01 He wants you just to come back. 27:04 He wants you to renew your commitment to Him 27:09 and to fall in love all over again with Him. 27:12 That's His way, that's how much He loves us 27:16 to give us time after time, a chance after chance 27:21 to come back to Him. 27:24 You see... 27:26 I can still remember 27:29 The wonderful feeling 27:33 Back when I first got to know You 27:40 It seemed the world was mine 27:43 I had joy, I had springtime 27:48 But that's all just a memory anymore 27:58 I guess I just took my eyes off You, Lord 28:05 But I don't want this callous feeling anymore 28:12 Lord, please bring back the way it was before 28:24 Bring back the new again 28:32 I want to see You again 28:39 Bring back the way it was 28:46 When we began 28:52 How did I miss the road? 28:59 When did I lose the glow? 29:05 Where did the wonder go? 29:12 Bring back the new again 29:28 It wasn't long ago 29:31 When my heart was glowing 29:35 And every new day was a challenge 29:41 But indifference turned me cold 29:44 Made things stale, made them old 29:48 Now I've lost that happy song I used to sing 29:56 It seems that I forgot the most important thing 30:01 But I don't want this callous feeling anymore 30:07 Lord, please bring back 30:11 The way it was 30:13 Before 30:20 Bring back the Bring back the new again 32:07 Remember in the Psalms when David thought 32:11 That he had really messed it up. 32:17 This was his prayer. 32:21 Create in me a clean heart, O God 32:29 And renew a right spirit within me 32:36 Create in me a clean heart 32:40 O God 32:44 And renew a right spirit within me 32:51 Cast me not away 32:55 From Thy presence, O Lord 32:59 And take not Thy Holy Spirit from me 33:07 Restore unto me 33:10 The joy of Thy salvation 33:15 And renew a right spirit within me 34:17 Cast me not away from Thy presence, O Lord 34:24 Take not Thy Holy Spirit from me 34:31 Restore unto me 34:34 The joy of Thy salvation 34:39 And renew a right spirit 34:42 Within me 34:47 Yes, renew a right spirit 34:50 Within me 37:05 If you find yourself at that place 37:09 where you were, 37:10 where you've been closer to God than you are right now 37:14 and if you want to make that recommitment to Him 37:19 to bring back the new again. 37:24 Or per chance, you're watching today 37:27 and this is all new to you, 37:31 you haven't made that commitment, 37:32 maybe you've heard about it and you've thought about it, 37:35 but life was just going fine 37:38 and you really didn't feel like you really needed a Savior 37:42 because you had it under control. 37:46 No matter where you are, 37:50 today is the day the Lord has made, 37:53 He has given you an opportunity, another day, 37:55 another chance to serve Him, to live for Him. 38:01 So I encourage you 38:04 lifelong believer, 38:08 turn back to Him 38:10 and start those things that you did 38:15 whenever you first became a Christian. 38:17 Reading the Bible and praying 38:19 and staying in fellowship with Him, 38:21 fellowship with other Christians, 38:23 other like-minded people. 38:27 Go back to those ways, 38:28 it's not too late, nothing you... 38:31 Nothing you have done 38:34 will obliterate your relationship with Christ. 38:37 As long as you're willing to go back and say, "Okay. 38:42 I flubbed up. I've messed up." 38:45 I mean, some of us have to do this 38:47 on a daily basis. 38:49 I'll be honest, that's where I am. 38:51 And that may be a little too transparent 38:54 and definitely a little pathetic. 38:59 But we have a loving Father 39:00 who wants us to come back to Him 39:03 and get it right. 39:07 He is what's right and He's what makes us right. 39:09 Those of you again 39:10 who haven't made the commitment, 39:12 today is the day to make the commitment. 39:14 Ask Christ to be ruler of your heart, 39:18 begin to make those decisions that are godly decisions. 39:23 And you want to know how to do that. 39:25 Well, I'll tell you, Ephesians 4:21-32 39:29 give a real practical method on living for Christ. 39:34 I love the fact 39:36 that this is just peanut butter and jelly, 39:39 it's just plain and simple. 39:41 And I do love peanut butter and jelly. 39:43 But that's, that aside. 39:46 It says, since you have heard about Jesus, 39:50 this is again after you have given your life to Christ, 39:53 you've accepted Him, you've told Him, 39:54 "Forgive me of my sin. 39:57 Be ruler of my heart." 40:00 And then Ephesians says, 40:02 "Since you have heard about Jesus 40:03 and have learned the truth that comes from Him, 40:06 throw off your old sinful nature, 40:09 get rid of it and your former way of life 40:13 which is corrupted by lust and deception." 40:17 Instead let the spirit renew your thoughts 40:20 and your attitude, 40:22 that's the Holy Spirit. 40:23 Let the Holy Spirit that's the mind of Christ 40:25 renew your thoughts and your attitudes. 40:28 Put on your new nature created to be like God. 40:33 Truly righteous and holy, stop telling lies. 40:38 Let us tell our neighbors the truth for we, 40:40 we are all parts of the same body. 40:44 And don't sin by letting anger control you. 40:47 Don't let the sun go down while you're still angry, 40:50 for angry only gives a foothold to the devil. 40:54 And if you're a thief, quit stealing. 40:58 Instead use your hands for good work, 41:01 good hard work, 41:02 and then give generously to others in need. 41:06 Now don't use foul language or abusive language. 41:10 Let everything you say be good and helpful 41:13 so that your words will be an encouragement 41:16 to those who hear them. 41:18 And don't bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit 41:20 by the way you live. 41:22 Remember, He has identified you as His very own, 41:26 guaranteeing you 41:29 that you'll be saved on the day of redemption. 41:32 So get rid of all bitterness, get rid of all rage, 41:37 all anger, all harsh words and slander, 41:42 as well as all types of evil behavior, 41:44 just get rid of it. 41:46 Instead be kind to each other, 41:49 tenderhearted, forgiving one another, 41:51 just as God through Christ has forgiven you. 41:56 Those are wonderful, 41:59 just bare roots, 42:04 instructions on how to live for Christ. 42:09 Now you may sound, well, that sounds just like 42:12 being just a good person. 42:14 Well, it's more than being a good person 42:16 because the Holy Spirit, 42:18 when you give your life to Christ, 42:19 the Holy Spirit will give you the power 42:24 to be a good person 42:25 because honestly I'm not a good person, 42:28 if it's on my own, if I'm on my own, 42:30 if I'm left to my own devices, I'm not a nice person. 42:36 I can smile 42:38 but I can't always be nice. 42:42 So I encourage you, 42:43 let the Holy Spirit have control of you. 42:48 And He will make a wonderful change in you 42:52 that you can't find anywhere else. 42:57 And I can speak from experience. 43:03 For once I was lost, I was living in sin 43:09 My life seemed hopeless 43:12 No peace within 43:15 I was alone 43:17 Down hearted and sad 43:21 Needed a change in my heart 43:27 I bowed my knees, shed a tear and a sigh 43:32 Lifted my eyes to the Lord in the sky 43:38 Now I will sing it 43:40 And I'm going to shout the good news 43:44 There's been a wonderful change 43:50 There's been a wonderful change in my soul 43:54 Since Jesus made all my burdens roll 43:58 Now I'm glad to say 44:02 I am on my way 44:06 O, He changed my heart 44:08 Change my soul and my life 44:11 Saved me from trouble, from sin and from strive 44:15 Now I will sing it, shout the good news 44:19 There's been a wonderful change 44:22 For I have ceased from my wandering 44:25 And going astray 44:27 Since Jesus came into my heart 44:31 And my sins which were many 44:33 They're all washed away 44:36 Since Jesus came into my heart 44:50 Floods of joy or my soul like the sea billows roll 44:58 Since Jesus came
