00:01 I want to spend my life
00:07 Mending broken people 00:12 I want to spend my life 00:18 Removing pain 00:23 Lord, let my words 00:29 Heal a heart that hurts 00:34 I want to spend my life 00:40 Mending broken people 00:45 I want to spend my life 00:51 Mending broken people 01:09 Hello and welcome to another 3ABN 01:11 Today program. Thank you for joining us as 01:14 you do each and every day. Thank you for 01:16 your love and your prayers and your 01:18 financial support of 3ABN as we endeavor 01:21 to take this great gospel of the kingdom 01:23 into all the world. I may be getting 01:26 old, but I'll tell you what- I've never 01:28 been more excited about the gospel, 01:29 about 3ABN, about the work, the mission 01:33 of the church, of 3ABN, than I am right now. 01:38 - Amen. - So, I praise God for the 01:40 opportunity to be living in the closing 01:42 moments of Earth's history. Today, if 01:45 you're a Christian, we want you to 01:47 take this seriously. We want you to go 01:49 to God and say, "Lord, what would 01:51 you have me to do?" If you're not, today 01:53 is a day of salvation, because I promise 01:55 you, you won't find peace and joy and 01:57 happiness until you accept Jesus Christ 02:00 into your life as Lord and Savior of 02:02 your life. That peace is an amazing thing, 02:06 and you can get it. So today, you can 02:08 call us. We have people who'd love 02:10 to pray with you if you need somebody 02:12 to pray with you. I'm here with my 02:13 wife Yvonne. Yvonne, we're going to have 02:15 a great program today in the Lord. - We are! 02:18 I'm so excited. I love our guest. He's 02:21 family to us, and this is such a blessing. 02:26 - Pastor Wintley Phipps, it's good to have 02:28 you here today. - Always a joy to be 02:30 with you, and we love you both and 02:31 we've been praying for you. I'm so glad 02:33 to be on the program today. - Thank you so 02:35 much. Founder and CEO of US Dream Academy. 02:41 A lot of people- they know you as 02:45 a singer, and some don't know about the 02:47 Dream Academy. We could speak about it 02:50 for just a little bit, 'cause it's a 02:51 great cause- a work that you're doing. 02:54 But today, we're here- we're actually debuting, 02:57 if I can use that word, a brand-new- 02:59 I want to say album, but that's way past. 03:03 Albums dates its way back. I used to 03:07 say 'record.' "Play the record," you know? 03:09 Now, I see that- I just saw recently, 03:12 they're bringing records back. Now, 03:14 young people want records so they can 03:16 have records again, 'cause they think, "Wow, 03:18 these antiques is pretty neat." [laughter] 03:22 Today, you have a brand-new project. 03:24 We're looking forward to it. You're entitling 03:27 it, "Glorious Church." Before we get into 03:31 this too much, we're going to show some of 03:32 the songs he's going to be singing for us 03:34 here a bit. Tell us a little bit about the 03:36 Dream Academy. We want to talk a little 03:39 bit about Wintley, your past, and your 03:42 mission for the future. - Sure. Well, the 03:44 Dream Academy is a ministry that brings 03:46 tutoring and mentoring after school in the name 03:50 of Christ to children whose parents are 03:53 incarcerated, and children falling 03:55 behind in school. We've been doing it 03:58 for 20 years now (which is a miracle 04:01 all by itself). We're just praising God. 04:04 We focus on giving the kids a snack 04:07 after school, homework help; we give them 04:12 an opportunity to catch a vision of what 04:14 they're dreaming of inside. If a kid 04:17 wants to be a teacher, we want them to see 04:19 what that's like-or if she wants to be 04:22 a doctor, we want her to see what that's 04:23 like. Then, we focus on building character, 04:27 because at the end of the day, character 04:32 is the most important thing that we have. 04:36 It's more important than the money we make, 04:39 it's more important than the accomplishments 04:41 we have. - That is so true. There's a 04:44 book that I read about how children succeed. 04:48 The name of the book is How Children Succeed, 04:51 and he was saying- the author was saying- 04:53 that it's not just about reading, writing, 04:57 and arithmetic. It's about character-building. 04:59 - Absolutely. - It's about discipline. It's 05:01 about stick-to-itiveness. It's about integrity. 05:04 It sounds like that's what a focus is 05:07 with the Dream Academy. - Yes! And I've found 05:11 God's divine plan- what the servant of 05:14 God calls-God's divine plan for the development 05:18 of Christian character. It's in 2 Peter 1:5-7. 05:24 God says, "There are 8 dimensions of 05:26 character. I want you to have-want all of 05:28 my children to have- strong faith, values 05:32 or virtue or moral integrity, a love of 05:37 knowledge and learning, self-control, patience, 05:43 a respect for what is sacred or holiness- 05:47 a respect for what is holy-kindness, and 05:51 love. Those 8 dimensions, what we focus on, 05:56 because it's God's divine plan-for the 05:59 development of character. For example, 06:01 patience. The children who learn patience are 06:07 the ones who go on to be the most successful. 06:10 Why? I heard a man say once, "I've seen 06:13 impatience," he said, "destroy more talented 06:16 people than anything else." That's why 06:20 you get into things that you shouldn't get 06:23 into before you should get into them. That's 06:27 what teenage pregnancy's all about; that's what 06:30 trying things- learn to be patient, and 06:33 it helps. - Deferred gratification. - That's 06:37 correct. - Right? They have research 06:39 studies that show that children who can 06:41 defer gratification... The question was 06:45 asked, "Do you want these apples now?" 06:48 I don't remember what the thing was. "Now? 06:50 Or can you wait for 20 more minutes and 06:53 get 2 apples?" It was something like that, 06:56 and the children who could wait are the 06:59 children who later became the most 07:01 successful. - Absolutely. Character's important. 07:04 - Yeah. It is, truly. - Absolutely. Well, 07:07 we're so thankful for the work that you're 07:08 doing there. You are known around the world 07:11 as a singer, speaker, you're still a pastor, 07:15 so I don't know how he does it all, but... 07:19 - I know! He's always on a plane! He and 07:21 Linda-they're always riding a plane. - I 07:23 started to say I thought I've traveled 07:24 a lot over the years, but he definitely 07:26 travels more than I have. Literally, you've 07:29 been on a plane for, sometimes, several times 07:33 a week for 30+ years. - And you have to 07:35 have a church that loves you and a church 07:39 that supports you. I've been pastoring my 07:42 church for 16 years. - Oh, wow. - So, 07:45 just to be able to say that is a testament 07:49 of blessing. I pastored the Palm 07:51 Bay Seventh-Day Adventist church in 07:53 Palm Bay, Florida, and I've got members 07:56 who, wherever I am in the world, I know 07:58 they're praying for me. Do you know what 08:01 that's like? To know that you have members 08:03 who see you not just as the pastor of the 08:06 Palm Bay church, or of the church, but 08:09 the pastor FROM the church to the rest 08:12 of the world. It's a beautiful thing. 08:15 I love them, and I think they love me, too. 08:19 - What I'd like to do- he's going to be doing 08:23 a few songs for us, so we don't have a 08:24 lot of time to talk. Give us the short 08:28 version of how a little boy from Trinidad, 08:31 growing up, ends up singing before presidents- 08:35 around the world- kings and queens and 08:37 presidents, and many presidents here in 08:39 the United States of America. How do you 08:41 get from that point, playing in the sand, 08:45 watching airplanes take off, to being 08:47 now literally known for singing around 08:49 the world the gospel music? - Well, I had 08:54 an aunt that came by to visit me one day, 08:56 and she was looking at the pictures of 08:57 me and the 6 presidents of the United States 09:00 and different magazine covers... She said, 09:05 "I want to tell you something," so we 09:06 sat down. She said, "When your father, 09:10 my brother- we had a sister named Pearl. 09:15 A couple years before you were born, 1953, 09:22 Pearl died while trying to deal with an 09:30 unwanted pregnancy situation. We were 09:35 broken. The family was just devastated. 09:38 When your mother became pregnant 09:41 with you, there were some who were urging 09:44 her that she needed to do the same, but 09:47 we gathered around and said, 'Absolutely 09:49 not.' We've been through too much. 09:54 Your mother's mother paid a visit to your 09:59 father's mother. They closed the door, 10:01 they came together, and they made a pact 10:05 that they were going to pray for the life 10:08 of this child. The prayer that they 10:12 covenanted-that they would pray-was, 10:15 "Lord, make this child's life a blessing 10:19 to the world." So, I would like to think 10:25 that the voice God gave me, the opportunities... 10:29 All of those wonderful opportunities that 10:33 I've had in life... But I've got to 10:36 understand and remember that I am 10:39 living the answer to Grandmother's prayers. 10:44 The thing that also moved me was because 10:50 my aunt Pearl died, I was able to live. 10:56 God saw my situation and decided that He 11:00 would place in my throat something 11:03 unique in the world. I praise Him for it. 11:06 I don't deserve it. I look back now after 11:10 40+ years of only singing for the glory 11:14 of God. That was my way of saying, "Thank 11:20 you, Lord. Thank You for sparing my life, 11:23 thank You for giving me an opportunity 11:27 to be a candidate for the kingdom of 11:29 heaven, thank You for allowing me not just 11:33 to live on Earth, but because of the 11:36 grace of Jesus, I can live forever." I 11:41 hope that answers your question...in a different 11:44 way, but... - It does. One of the 11:46 things that I most appreciate about 11:47 Wintley, and what I appreciate about 11:50 you- I don't just throw out compliments 11:52 all the time. One of the things that 11:54 I believe it's why God has blessed Him 11:56 so abundantly is that I have noticed- 11:59 and known you a long time-and I've 12:00 noticed over the years when people 12:02 get into the arenas that you are, that you 12:06 sing in before congressmen, senators, 12:09 presidents, and again, kings and queens 12:13 around the world, it seems-and I don't 12:16 want to say most, but- many compromise 12:19 the integrity of their music, because when 12:21 you're singing, and some of the folk you 12:24 sing for are very well-known-in secular 12:27 world, as well. So, people get that- 12:31 I saw it way back in Elvis' day when 12:34 a lot of the gospel groups he had sing 12:36 with him instead of them helping him to 12:39 be converted, they all ended up-many 12:42 of those, I should say; not all-many 12:44 of those went the way of the world, 12:45 but I've seen that you've stayed 12:47 focused on your music. You haven't lost 12:49 sight of the words, the styles of music, 12:53 the communication, and that's apparently- 12:57 I wouldn't say it's been an easy thing 12:59 for you to do, but I believe that's why 13:02 God's blessed you. We're going to be 13:05 doing some of the songs here from the new 13:08 project, and it will say exactly what I've 13:11 been saying. After all these years, 13:13 you're still holding fast to what you 13:16 know to be truth and integrity. - Well, 13:18 thank you. It's very simple, really. When 13:22 I walk out or whenever I sing, Jesus is on 13:26 the front row. What I'm doing-whatever 13:30 I'm doing-is for Him first. And so, you 13:35 have to do it with the greatest integrity 13:39 that you can, your heart has to be as 13:42 right as it could be, because you're 13:45 standing before your Savior, the King of 13:48 the universe... So, Jesus is on the front 13:51 row. If other people are blessed, praise 13:54 God; but really, as Ellen White says, 13:57 the purpose of music is to glorify God. 14:02 That's the purpose of it. This past 14:06 week, I had the opportunity to sing 14:10 at the memorial service for a great 14:14 American by the name of Rich DeVos, who's 14:18 the founder of Amway and also owned the 14:23 Orlando Magic basketball team. I was so humbled 14:31 that this man wanted me to be the only 14:36 singer at his memorial service and chose the 14:41 songs. He chose "I'd Rather Have Jesus" 14:46 than silver or gold... Here's a billionaire 14:51 saying, "I'd rather have Jesus than 14:55 silver or gold; I'd rather be His than 14:58 have riches untold." He also chose "He 15:02 Touched Me," and that's why this CD 15:06 that we've done is so special for me, 15:09 because we're doing a lot of the songs that 15:11 are the soundtrack of people's faith. It's 15:16 the soundtrack of growing in the Lord, 15:20 you know? "Shall We Gather at the River," 15:22 "At the Cross," "Jesus Is Coming Again..." 15:26 - "Softly and Tenderly." - "Jesus Paid It All..." 15:31 All of those songs that are really the 15:33 soundtrack of our faith and growing 15:36 in the Lord. And of course, the CD is 15:39 entitled, "Glorious Church." It's titled 15:43 after a song that you commissioned, and I 15:48 felt very honored that you asked me to do 15:52 that song, "Glorious Church." - It was 15:54 written for you by Lanny Wolfe. - It was 15:56 literally written for me... All right! Well. 15:58 It is an amazing song that captures, 16:06 prophetically, where we are, but also the 16:12 triumph of the church of God in the end. 16:18 "Glorious Church" is just one of those 16:19 very unique songs. The lyrics, the message, 16:24 and the music and the orchestration...but 16:27 it captures that Babylon is spiritual 16:33 confusion, it is the union of church and 16:38 state, it's the church embracing state power 16:45 and thinking that they're invincible, 16:47 when the truth of the matter is, it's a 16:51 fallen church. When you ally with Babylon... 16:54 You know, you and I have always been 16:58 around people who try to pull people out 17:02 of the church. They can always find 17:07 something wrong with the church. I told 17:09 a story the other day of a man who 17:12 said to a pastor, "I'm not coming to 17:14 your church because you have a lady by 17:16 the name of Sister Brunson, and she's 17:18 this, and you have another man by the 17:20 name of Mr. Johnson; he's that." I'm just 17:23 as good as they are. So, the pastor, a 17:27 couple weeks later, came to the farmer 17:29 and said, "I'd like to buy a pig from 17:32 you." He said, "Okay." He brought out his 17:36 best pig. He said, "No, no, no, no. I 17:39 want that pig over there." He said, "No! 17:41 You don't want to buy THAT one! That's 17:43 the worst pig I got!" He said, "Well, how 17:45 would you feel if I buy that pig..." No, 17:48 he actually bought the pig! He said, "Okay, 17:50 you know what I'm going to do? I want 17:52 to go throughout the county and tell people 17:54 this is kind of pigs you produce." [laughter] 17:58 Sometimes, we pick out a person- the 18:02 Bible says the wheat and tares grow together. 18:04 We pick out the tares and go and 18:06 say, "This is what the wheat over there 18:08 looks like." You know what I mean? So, one 18:12 of the things about the church that's 18:14 really, really important is that Babylon is a 18:20 mixture of a confusion and the church state 18:25 of power, but the Lord reminds us in 18:28 this song, "Glorious Church," that His 18:31 church will triumph in the end. - You know, 18:34 Yvonne, this was such a great set-up. 18:36 I was going to have him do this one last, 18:38 but I think what we'll do is- we actually- 18:41 you sang it at camp meeting and it's on 18:45 a DVD. I think we'd like to have you do 18:48 that. Now, didn't you co-write that song with 18:50 Lanny Wolfe? - Yes. - Aw! Awesome! 18:53 - She wrote out the main points. Basically, 18:57 she co-writes with him like I do, I think. 18:59 Like, "Lanny, could you really write about 19:01 this subject or talk about Babylon? Can 19:03 you do this?" Put your names on there as 19:05 a co-writer, too. We're going to go to 19:09 that, and then we're going to come back. 19:10 Hopefully, we'll have time for you to do 19:11 about two or three more songs, at least; 19:14 we'll talk about those. This is the song, 19:16 "Glorious Church." 26:26 [audience applauds] 26:35 - Amen. Praise the Lord. - That song is 26:39 just... The anointing is on that song. Your 26:46 delivery of the song is just so- I remember 26:51 when we were in the studio, and he was 26:53 singing it. I was just feeling like, "Oh, 26:56 this is just amazing." - I talked to Lanny Wolfe 27:00 yesterday, the writer, and he said to me, 27:03 "I was just listening again to the songs," 27:06 and these are Lanny's words. "No one could 27:10 deliver 'Glorious Church' like Wintley 27:13 Phipps did." He said this song was written 27:17 literally for him to deliver it in the way 27:20 that you did. We give God the credit, but 27:22 He blessed you with that ability. I'm glad 27:25 that you're using it for Him. Now, we 27:28 want to go to the next song. We'll 27:30 have you get ready in a moment to do 27:31 that. Yvonne, this is one of your- 27:34 tell us what he's getting ready to tell 27:35 us a little about this song. - Listen. 27:37 I listen to this song over and over 27:42 and over again. One day, I just had to call 27:44 brother Pastor Wintley and say, 27:46 "This song is just blessing me." I 27:49 made him promise that if I go to sleep 27:54 before the Lord comes that he will come and 27:56 sing this song for my memorial. This song 27:59 is just so beautiful. - And you know what 28:01 I told him; I said, "You'll outlive all 28:03 of us." - Well, I don't know about that. 28:06 Oh, this song blesses me. When my daddy 28:09 was sick, I played it for him in the 28:12 nursing home. This song is just a beautiful, 28:16 beautiful song. It ministers to my spirit. 28:19 - Great. Right now, you'll be blessed as 28:21 he sings, "No Need to Fear." 28:50 No need to fear when times of trouble come 28:58 Oppression storm beats at your door 29:08 No need to fear 29:17 No need to fear though evil seems so strong 29:26 Their pride and power is not for long 29:34 Be still, my soul 29:40 And trust in God 29:45 And place your life 29:49 Into His hands 29:53 For He will never, never fail you 30:03 And in the morning, you'll see His face 30:12 No need to fear... 30:17 Don't fear 30:30 No need to fear The envy and the scorn 30:39 Of those who boast in what they own 30:48 No need to fear 30:55 For what remains when life's brief day is done 31:04 Their glories are a setting sun 31:13 But as for me, of this, I'm sure 31:22 God will redeem 31:27 My soul from death 31:31 And He will never, never fail me 31:41 And in the morning, I'll see His face 32:12 And He will never fail you 32:22 No one can tell you from His love 32:31 And He will never forsake you 32:40 And in the morning 32:46 You'll see His face 32:52 No need to fear 33:00 Don't fear 33:20 - Amen. You happy now? - You know what? 33:23 I'm telling you! That song just ministers 33:26 so much to me. - Absolutely. Why 33:29 don't you give us, while he's coming back 33:31 here, sitting down, give us a list of 33:33 some of the songs. - Sure, sure. Okay, 33:36 "Glorious Church," "At the Cross," "Shall 33:39 We Gather at the River," "In Christ 33:41 Alone," "Crown Him with Many Crowns," 33:44 "Jesus Paid It All," "Softly and Tenderly," 33:47 "Old Rugged Cross," "This Is My Father's 33:50 World," "Jesus Is Coming Again," and 33:53 "No Need to Fear." - All right. - What 33:56 beautiful songs! - Aren't they? And 33:58 the orchestrations and all that's beautiful, 34:01 also. Pastor Phipps, when you do something, 34:06 you set your mind to it. You do it 34:08 quickly. It wasn't that long ago; it 34:10 seemed like a few days, but I guess it's 34:12 been a month or two- a couple months ago 34:14 that he called me and said, "Hey, I'm 34:16 thinking about doing this new project." 34:19 Invited him to do it here, put his vocals 34:21 on here, and it was like no time. Really cool. When 34:27 I do something like that, it takes me forever 34:29 to go in. He's like, "Well, we've got 34:30 it all done. We're ready now. We're 34:32 ready to mix it," and I'm like... "You didn't 34:34 even have time- are you kidding me?" 34:36 That's what happens when you don't have 34:38 to stop, make fixes; you have that voice 34:40 and it keeps going. Absolutely incredible. 34:44 Brand-new project by Pastor Phipps. We'll 34:46 tell you in a little bit how you may 34:48 get it; but right now, we want to go to 34:50 the next song. Tell us a little bit about 34:52 "Coming Again." - Well, I wrote this song 34:55 and placed at the end of it the great hymn, 34:58 "Jesus Is Coming Again." The first part of it 35:01 tells- the lyric, actually, is an angel 35:06 singing. The angel is singing to the 35:10 disciples. - And you wrote this. - Yes, I 35:13 wrote the first part. And the angel says, 35:15 "Why stand ye gazing there up into the 35:17 sky? Be not discouraged. We have brought good 35:21 news. The same Jesus that you see going 35:24 away, He will come again, and like manna." 35:27 Then we put the triumphant hymn at 35:30 the end of it, "Lift up the trumpet and 35:31 loud let it sing. Jesus is coming again." 35:35 It's been a blessing to be able to put that 35:38 perspective. I never see anybody talk 35:45 about the coming of Christ from the 35:48 perspective of the angels ministering 35:52 to the disciples, giving them this 35:56 great, great news that He's coming again. 35:58 - Absolutely. Well, we're going to have 36:01 to put on his list of accomplishments 36:03 now-songwriter, too. [laughter] 36:06 Have you written other songs? 36:07 - Oh, yes. I've written hundreds 36:09 of songs. Matter of fact- this has been 36:12 an interesting experience. I got 36:14 a call one day from, of all people, Aretha 36:17 Franklin. She said if I would come and 36:21 spend the afternoon with her. I said, 36:22 "Sure!" I love ministering to people 36:25 no matter where, you know? So I went, 36:26 and she sat down at the piano and 36:30 started playing songs that I had written 36:34 that she had heard. She was singing them 36:37 back to me. My, what an experience. She 36:41 said, "Remember me when you come-" 36:45 that's another song I wrote from the 36:48 perspective of the thief on the cross 36:49 saying, "Lord, remember me when You come into 36:52 Your kingdom," and she was singing that 36:54 to me! So, yes; I've written many songs 36:58 through the years. This song, with "Coming 37:02 Again" on the end of it, it's one of them. 37:04 - Well, what happened is, I recognize some 37:06 of those, but I didn't know you wrote them. 37:08 - Yeah! I didn't know he wrote "Remember 37:10 Me!" - So, he's not saying, "Hey, look 37:12 what I wrote!" or "Look what I did!" 37:13 He sings them, and I'm like, "Wow, those 37:15 are beautiful songs." But I heard this one, 37:17 the "Coming Again." It's a fabulous song. 37:21 Just was surprised that you wrote it; 37:23 not that you couldn't, but you didn't even 37:26 mention, "Well, hey, I wrote this song." 37:28 Anyway, we want you to do it in just a 37:31 moment, so, again- it's a brand-new 37:33 project (if you're just joining us), and 37:35 it's entitled "Glorious Church." Right now, 37:38 Wintley' s going to be singing-I think 37:40 it's a beautiful song- "Coming Again." 38:20 Why stand ye gazing there up into the sky? 38:31 Be not discouraged 38:37 For we have brought good news 38:43 This same Jesus whom we do magnify 38:53 Soon, He will come again for all to glorify 39:07 He is coming again 39:14 He is coming again 39:21 Son of the Father 39:26 He is coming again 39:32 On Calvary, He claimed my destiny 39:38 Lord, I humble myself 39:48 To Thee 39:58 Lord, I want to see Your face 40:04 Just help me be strong 40:11 I know You will return 40:16 I know it won't be long 40:23 He is coming again 40:29 He is coming again 40:36 Son of the Father 40:42 He is coming again 40:48 On calvary, He claimed my destiny 40:54 Lord, I humble myself 41:04 To Thee 41:09 Lift up the trumpet and loud let it ring 41:14 Jesus is coming again 41:18 Cheer up ye pilgrims 41:21 Be joyful and sing 41:23 Jesus is coming again 41:28 Coming again, coming again 41:32 Jesus is coming again 41:36 Coming again, coming again 41:41 Jesus is coming again 41:52 - Amen. - Wow. Isn't it great, the way it 41:54 tied those two songs together? I mean, 41:58 that's just... What a blessing. - I'm still- 42:01 I hadn't realized some of these songs 42:03 that, because he's never really- I've 42:05 known him for years, but he doesn't say, 42:07 "Hey, I wrote this song; I wrote that." I know 42:09 those songs, I just didn't really look to 42:11 see who wrote them. My hats off again. 42:14 He's always doing something, bringing 42:16 us something you didn't know before 42:18 after all these years. Wintley, it's great 42:21 having you here today, and I know 42:24 that it's a program; we could literally 42:27 talk to you for hours-some of your 42:29 experiences. And I know, because he 42:31 doesn't just name-drop. He's able to minister 42:35 to so many of these people that many of 42:37 us couldn't do, and God's opened that 42:40 door. That's a door. You've gone 42:43 through it, again, with integrity, 42:45 without compromising. You go through, and 42:48 when God opens that door, you minister 42:50 to these folk because everybody is a soul. 42:53 No soul's more important than the others, but 42:56 some of us can reach people here and some 42:58 reach there. God has opened up the door 43:01 for you to reach people that are 43:03 well-known. I know that some of the 43:05 folks and movie stars and secular music 43:09 and all of this- again, we talked about, in the 43:12 political arena, that God has opened those 43:14 doors. I'm thankful that you go there. 43:17 You've not compromised, but you lift up Jesus. 43:22 - Well, when I was, I guess in my 20s, 43:25 God gave me a quote- I believe it was from 43:30 Him-and I share it and I have been sharing 43:33 it with people all my ministry. You 43:37 don't have to compromise to be recognized. 43:40 - OK. That's good. - You don't have to 43:43 compromise to be recognized. I've 43:47 lived that story. I've tried my best to be 43:51 faithful. Music- the servant of God calls 43:56 it an "entering wedge." It is 43:59 a tool that God uses to get past people's 44:04 defenses, to get past many of the 44:09 hurdles that they put up. If you think 44:13 about it, just about all of us have a song 44:17 that we connect very closely to our conversion. 44:23 For everybody, it's different. For me, 44:29 I was a student of Kingsway College 44:32 back in 1971, '72. The kids were singing 44:39 a song back then, "It only takes a 44:43 spark to get a fire going, and that's 44:51 how it is with God's love once you've 44:55 experienced it. You want to sing; it's 44:58 fresh like spring. You want to pass it on." 45:05 Don't tell me you don't know that song. 45:07 - I don't. - Oh! Danny, you gotta 45:10 sing it to her. You gotta teach her that. 45:13 Well, she's a lot younger than we are. 45:16 - Oh, right. - Not really, but she 45:18 appreciates it. - Don't say that! [laughter] 45:21 - We gotta be truthful here. - So, back in 45:24 1971, '72, that was the song that touched 45:30 me. I associate that song with God's 45:34 Spirit and His power touching my life, 45:38 changing my life. One of the great 45:41 joys I've had is, the man who wrote 45:46 that song became a friend, and he actually 45:50 played on one of my early albums. His 45:53 name is Kurt Kaiser. Kurt Kaiser wrote 45:56 that song, so the joy of meeting the person 46:00 that wrote the song that God used to bring 46:03 you to Him... So, when people pick up 46:08 this CD and donate to the ministry-and some 46:11 people will purchase it, I'm sure-just think 46:15 that one of those songs may just 46:19 touch a person's heart in a way that you'll 46:22 see them in the kingdom of heaven 46:24 because of one of those songs. - And 46:27 watch this, now. Since our time is 46:29 about gone, because we're going to be 46:31 talking about God's amazing love- I'm 46:34 transitioning here to this- yeah, we're segueing 46:38 into the last... So why don't you 46:40 get ready. We do have time for one 46:42 more song. This is a beautiful song also. 46:44 And again, we'll put up an address 46:46 in a little bit so you can see how 46:48 you may purchase your own copies of Glorious 46:51 Church. Right now, "Amazing Love." 47:09 Amazing love How can it be 47:16 You broke the chains And set me free 47:23 You fill my life With joy untold 47:30 You light my spirit You feed my soul 47:37 Now, I want to let the whole world know 47:43 Of all You've done for me 47:50 I want to praise Your name 48:00 Amazing love How can it be 48:07 You sent Your Son to die for me 48:14 He took the blame, carried my shame 48:21 All the way to calvary 48:28 When I thought I was forever lost 48:35 You caught my falling soul 48:41 I want to love You more 48:54 Amazing love 49:01 Amazing love 49:08 Amazing, amazing love 49:19 Amazing love How can it be 49:26 You would give Your life for me 49:32 You bring such comfort to my soul 49:40 You raise me up and make me whole 49:47 Now, I want to let the whole world know 49:54 Of all You've done for me 50:01 I don't think I could ever, 50:07 ever love You more 50:14 Amazing love 50:20 Amazing love 50:29 Amazing love How can it be 50:35 Now, I'll live eternally 50:41 I once was lost 50:45 But now I'm found 50:49 I was blind, but now I see 50:56 And now, I am forever Yours 51:03 Soon, I'll see Your face 51:09 And I will love You more 51:19 Amazing love 51:26 Amazing love 51:33 Amazing love 51:42 Amazing love 51:55 - God's love is amazing. AMAZING love. Again, 51:59 the tone that Pastor Wintley has is just 52:02 so beautiful. It's such a gift. - And 52:06 music is a gift. It changes lives. - It does. 52:10 - It brings peace, it brings joy... There 52:14 are so many things I could say today, 52:15 but this project, Glorious Church... 52:20 I promise you, you'll be blessed.
