00:01 I want to spend my life
00:07 Mending broken people 00:12 I want to spend my life 00:18 Removing pain 00:23 Lord, let my words 00:29 Heal a heart that hurts 00:34 I want to spend my life 00:40 Mending broken people 00:45 I want to spend my life 00:51 Mending broken people 01:10 - Hello and welcome to another 3ABN Today 01:12 program. Thank you for joining us as you do each 01:14 and every day. We have some special guests today, 01:17 Ms. Yvonne. - You know what-I'm so excited. 01:19 I know I always say that, but no; this is a 01:22 special excitement today. - No... I mean, think about 01:24 this: we are sitting here at the piano- 01:27 not that they'll let us sing with them 01:28 necessarily-but we do have microphones and 01:31 we are kind of the hosts, so sometimes, you 01:34 probably could slip right... - So if we want to, just 01:36 kind of slip something in if we can. - ...join a 01:37 little bit. But we're here with Reggie and 01:39 Ladye Love Smith. - Yay! - Some of our best friends 01:41 in the world... Some of the most talented people 01:44 in the world; I would say that. And I'm thankful 01:46 they're on God's side; aren't you? - Absolutely. 01:49 And, you know, they could be singing out in the world 01:51 and making all this money and having... - Absolutely. 01:56 - Not that you're not! Not that you're making 01:57 all this money... [laughter] - Well, wait a minute. They're 02:02 in ministry, and I doubt they're making that much 02:06 money. But you're having a lot of fun, right? - That's 02:09 right. - Hey, it's been a long time since you've 02:11 been up here. - I know! I'm so excited to be back, 02:14 and with my husband. I've been back a couple of times, 02:17 and we're so excited to get to be here today 02:20 with you. - Reggie's been AWOL. You've come a couple 02:23 times. - I know! [laughter] - We're going to have to talk 02:25 about that. Now, Reggie, you used to come with her 02:27 all the time, but she's made a few trips on her 02:30 own. But you've had in the last-what-how long 02:33 has it been? - Two years. - Two years? You've had 02:35 a great schedule change. - Right. - And so, tell us 02:38 a little bit about what you're doing. - Well, so, 02:40 I joined a local band two years ago. - Gaither... 02:43 - Gaither Vocal Band. Yeah. So, we're traveling quite a 02:48 bit. Mr. Gaither is really stepping up the 02:53 events and the concerts. We're having just a blast. 02:56 Great group of guys; good buddies. Danny, 02:58 you'd love 'em all; be on the bus with them. 03:00 You would fit right in there. But I will say this: 03:04 that nothing... Nothing like being with your wife 03:09 and singing with your wife. But I will just say 03:12 it makes me- it's so- its amazing sound that we... 03:16 - I thought he was going to say nothing like being 03:18 with us. [laughter] - No! Absolutely! - That's exactly- 03:21 - That's exactly what I meant! - And that too. 03:24 - I'm a little hurt, but let's go on; it's okay. 03:27 - No, no, no- that too, of course! But I will say, 03:30 Danny. So, we'll come off the roads safe from 03:33 a four- or five-night week, pretty tired, and 03:37 we'll come in, and then Ladye Love and I will 03:39 have an event that we need to- we'll go and 03:41 do a concert. It's a ministry somewhere. 03:44 And when she starts singing, I just go, "Wow." 03:49 - Yes. - Yeah. Me, too. - I just- and I'm like, 03:53 I get this... I honestly- of course, you know, I'm 03:56 her husband; I can say this. But I feel like I get 03:58 to sing with one of the greatest female singers 04:01 on the planet. And then on my little Twitter thing, 04:04 you know- I don't know if you'd tweet thing... 04:06 - I'm sitting between two of them. - Yeah, no! Hey. 04:09 Let me tell you: that girl right there... Oh, 04:11 please. She has sung on everything that we've 04:15 heard in the last 20 years; she's sung on it. Absolutely. 04:19 - Praise the Lord. But one of my favorite 04:20 things is singing with you guys. - Aww... Us, too. 04:22 - Absolutely. That's so much fun. - Glory 04:24 be to the Father... And to the Son, and 04:31 to the Holy Ghost... Maybe we should do 04:37 that again later. [laughter] ...In the right key. - No, no, 04:40 no; that's good. It's a program, we love it; 04:43 we're sitting here, just having fun. - That was 04:45 spontaneous, for sure. - Very. Very, and I'm 04:47 sorry I was in the wrong key. - No, no, no. We've 04:50 had the privilege of traveling, literally, with 04:52 them many places around the world. - Yes... - All 04:55 the way to Russia and Australia and many places, 04:58 and it's always a blessing. And I want to say something 05:01 about them. And not to uplift them, but the Jesus 05:05 in them. The fact that everywhere they go, 05:09 they pay attention to people. - They do. - It doesn't make 05:12 any difference where you are. If you are out in the 05:15 streets, if you work, and if you're the contractor, 05:18 if you're at restaurants or pay attention to waitresses, 05:21 waiters, they love people and they're willing to sit 05:25 and minister to anyone who will listen. - The love 05:28 of Jesus comes... They exude the love of Jesus, 05:32 and that's a beautiful thing. - Yeah. - It's 05:35 not hard when you have Jesus in your heart... 05:37 you know? You have that same thing, and it's just 05:39 amazing to see so many people that God loves, 05:43 and they're especially special to Him. So, how 05:47 could they not be special to us? - Yes... - I love 05:50 people, and I love... I love God! - Yeah. 05:53 All right. What we want to do... I know we could 05:56 talk the whole program, but I think we should at 05:58 least start out with... - Just a little bit. Let's 06:01 keep talking; I like that the best. - With 06:03 a song here... No, no, no. You guys are doing a medley, 06:05 and what songs are in it? - This is "Softly and Tenderly," 06:10 and then "'Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus," and "Jesus, 06:14 Jesus, There's Just Something About That 06:15 Name." - Hey, can I just say, I love it, because 06:17 I feel like it's God speaking to everyone 06:19 out there today, and He may be speaking to you 06:22 today. He has a special message for all of us. 06:25 - All right. Yvonne, just say a short prayer, and 06:28 then you guys sing for us, okay? - Sure. Father, 06:31 we thank You so very much that we have the 06:33 privilege of being here together to honor You 06:36 with music and the Word. So, we just pray that You 06:40 will be with us, that Your Spirit will be here, and 06:42 that You will be glorified. Thank You, Lord; and in 06:44 Jesus' name, amen. [Amen.] [piano intro] 06:59 Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling 07:08 Calling for you and for me 07:19 And see on the portals He's waiting and watching 07:29 Watching for you and for me 07:40 Come home 07:44 Come home 07:52 Ye who are weary come home 08:06 Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling 08:18 Calling, "O, sinner, come home" 08:35 And why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading? 08:45 Pleading for you and for me 08:53 And why should we linger and heed not His mercies? 09:02 Mercies for you and for me 09:12 Come home 09:17 Come home 09:22 Ye who are weary, come home 09:35 Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling 09:46 Calling, "O, sinner..." 09:56 Calling, "O, sinner," 10:04 "Come..." 10:07 "Home." 10:13 Ooh... Calling, "O, sinner," 10:18 Calling, "O, sinner..." 10:26 "O, come..." 10:30 "Home" 10:51 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus 11:00 Just to take Him at His Word 11:08 Just to rest upon His promise 11:16 Just to know, "Thus saith the Lord" 11:24 Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him 11:33 How I've proved Him o'er and o'er 11:40 Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus 11:49 Oh, for grace to trust Him more 12:03 I'm so glad I learned to trust Him 12:11 Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend 12:18 And I know that He is with me 12:26 Will be with me to the end 12:33 Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him 12:41 How I've proved Him o'er and o'er 12:48 Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus 12:57 Oh, for grace to trust Him more 13:05 Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him 13:14 How I've proved Him o'er and o'er 13:25 Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus 13:35 Oh, for grace to trust Him 13:46 More - Jesus, Jesus-oh, Jesus 13:58 There's just something about that name 14:10 Master, Savior, Jesus 14:20 Like the fragrance after the rain 14:33 Jesus, Jesus, Jesus 14:45 Let all heaven and earth proclaim 14:58 And kings and kingdoms will all pass away 15:10 But there's something about that 15:20 Name 15:25 Oh, yes...there is. 15:38 - You know, one of the things that I love about 15:41 them is just their tones- the tones that they have, 15:44 the way you guys blend... I'm talking about you; 15:47 I should be talking to you. The way you blend, 15:49 it's just so beautiful- and the way you minister... 15:52 you know? You actually minister. There's one thing- 15:55 and we've talked about this before. - There's an anointing. 15:57 - There is! There's one thing in performance, 16:00 and then there's another thing with ministry, and 16:03 you guys minister. So, we thank you for your 16:05 ministry. - That's a huge compliment, because... We'll 16:08 take that all day long. - So, you still have time, 16:11 you guys, you're able to travel together some? 16:14 I know you're busy. - I'm busy, but we're busy and 16:17 still traveling. And so, you know, this is a season 16:20 with the Gaither Vocal Band, and it's a wonderful, 16:23 wonderful season. I've been traveling with this 16:26 lady for a long time, and I plan on traveling 16:28 a lot longer. - I promise y'all we're okay. I feel 16:32 like he's trying to make up for something. [laughter] 16:36 - Well, I get questioned a lot at a lot of the 16:38 concerts. At a lot of the concerts, people- 16:40 the vocal band concert's like, "Do you and Ladye 16:43 Love ever travel?" It's like- I said, "Absolutely, 16:46 we travel in?," so... - Last weekend, 16:47 someone said, "Is Ladye here?" and I told him to 16:49 tell him, "Yeah, she's on the bus, cooking." 16:51 [laughter] She's sewing? - No, she's at 16:57 3ABN. - That's exactly right. - There you go! 17:00 [simultaneous chatter] - You guys were doing 17:02 another video taping of something a while 17:05 back, and she was there, and I don't know where 17:08 we were, in Omaha or somewhere on the bus, 17:10 and I called Ladye and I said, "Babe, are you 17:13 guys working?" She says, "We're right in the middle 17:14 of it." And I just, I was like, "No! I 17:17 want to be there so badly!" Because Danny, honestly, 17:19 we've been coming here with you a long time, and 17:23 we met on a Gaither Alaskan...cruise. Long 17:29 time ago- couple of years ago, but... And you know 17:31 what... - It was the sports that brought 17:33 them together, I have to say. - It was the ping 17:35 pong. I know a lot of you have heard this, 17:37 but it was the ping pong, because this guy is the 17:39 ping pong champion, period. - No, no. Don't 17:42 say that, 'cause they've seen me get beat on the 17:44 air by an eight-year-old and a 12-year-old. - That's 17:47 right! - These kids are incredible. - Okay, you 17:51 told me about these guys; I gotta see this. - Oh, no. 17:53 They're unbelievable. These kids are... I love- 17:55 and speaking of ministry. We won't take too much 17:58 time out of that. These kids love Jesus, and they 18:01 minister everywhere they go. - That's right. - Oh, 18:03 that's amazing. - Play ping pong, so...I kind of 18:05 retired after that, 'cause I hadn't played 18:07 in a long time...but it's so much fun. Reggie's a 18:09 great ping pong player, and he's an athlete. 18:11 He played football in college, and Ladye Love 18:13 was the college...what do you call it? - Homecoming 18:15 queen. - Queen, or whatever. - She was Miss University. 18:19 - Miss University! Okay! - Speaking of kids-you 18:23 were talking about kids- I want to say something: 18:24 that our son has literally grown up at 3ABN. I mean, 18:28 he was, from a little baby boy. You know, 18:30 I don't tell this a lot because I forget that 18:32 this happened, but he's a chosen baby. He was 18:35 adopted, and we were right here in the sound 18:38 center when we got the call. - Oh, wow! - And we 18:42 had a baby shower here... I mean, this is truly family 18:45 and special to us. And yesterday, now, that 18:48 baby is 16 years old. - Better take driving. 18:50 - 16 and driving and thinks Danny is the best, 18:54 greatest thing in the world, because...well, you let him 18:57 do a lot more than we would, but... [laughter] 19:00 - I wouldn't have let him jump from the Blue 19:01 Hole, but he did, anyway. - That's right! - He did 19:04 jump from the Blue Hole and let me tell a story. 19:05 So, I jumped from the Blue Hole-and you'll have 19:09 to set that up-and then Danny... - It's a big cliff. 19:11 - And the big cliff! I mean, it's like, 60-70 19:13 feet or whatever. And Danny says, "Now, I 19:15 gotta jump. I don't know..." - Reggie jumped; I have to 19:18 jump. - Oh, my word. - And said 663 feet 19:21 deep water...? - So, Danny, when you 19:25 jumped... So, Brett was saying something up 19:27 there when... - He was probably 12 at the time, 19:29 and he's hollering. He was behind me and misses 19:31 it. I mean, serious jump. No life jackets, nobody 19:35 there; if something goes wrong, you drowned. I 19:38 mean, there's no getting out of it. And Brett's- 19:40 "Hey Daddy, hey Daddy, I wanna jump!" I said, 19:42 "Brett, son, be quiet. You're not going to jump." 19:44 "Daddy- Daddy! Can I jump?" I said, "Brett, 19:47 he's not going to let you jump off there, 19:49 son. It's too dangerous." I said, "Just"- so, I'm 19:52 standing here, working up the nerve... "Hey, 19:55 hey Daddy! Hey Daddy! Can I jump!?" And I hear 19:57 from down below, "Yeah, son! Come on!" [laughter] 20:01 So, I said, "I have to jump now. I cannot have 20:03 him coming in front of me," so I just jumped in. I said, 20:06 "All right, here we go." Course, he went in and... 20:09 Shyook! Right back out, landed perfectly, and 20:12 I was worried about him. - Praise God...he did! 20:15 [laughter] - What the ladies would scream... 20:17 Ladye screamed, "My baby, my ba-!" But I gotta tell 20:19 you, Danny... But you didn't get to the water 20:22 fast enough because you were checking to see where 20:23 you were and you looked down. - It's a long ways. 20:25 I hadn't jumped like that, so I just jumped 20:27 off. They say, "Put your hands beside you, be 20:30 straight," you know, 'cause you don't want to break an 20:32 arm or leg. It occurred to me, "I wonder...I 20:35 better make sure I'm straight." Just as I 20:37 looked down, I hit the water, so I come up and 20:39 Reggie says, "You look like your face has been 20:41 slapped." And I said, "I felt like it." - Yvonne 20:44 and I were standing there, and all we can do is stand 20:46 and watch. We can't help, we can't do anything; it's 20:49 the longest seconds of my life. - Alright. You never 20:52 know- watch this lead-in. You'll never 20:54 know what's going to happen. Speaking of "I Will Never 20:56 Know," we gotta get some more music in here 21:00 or people are going to be upset at us. Tell us 21:02 about a song that y'all wrote. - Danny, this is 21:05 a song that we recorded on 3ABN Project Calvary- 21:08 Says Love To Me-and we wrote this song with 21:11 Marty Funderburk. - That's right. Another Mississippi 21:15 boy. Another Mississippi boy, that's sure? talking. 21:17 And a wonderful writer. 21:19 actually came up and sang in the choir with 21:20 this one. So, this is a beautiful song that we 21:22 recorded on that project. - Okay. You remember the 21:25 song. - I do! Oh, it was beautiful. - Absolutely. 21:29 Very anointed. I just appreciate, again, their 21:32 talents. They're not only singers, but this 21:35 will show they're actually songwriters, and they do that 21:38 because of the relationship they have with Jesus. 21:41 - Absolutely. [soundtrack begins] 21:59 I don't pretend to comprehend 22:05 All the wonders and all the mysteries 22:14 Why You gave Your life to save 22:21 The ones You knew would nail You to a tree 22:29 I've often read the words You said 22:35 About forgiveness and the failures all erased 22:44 I've understood as best I could 22:51 But how could I begin to fathom grace 22:57 I'll never know what made You leave the throne 23:04 I'll never know why You chose Calvary 23:12 And knowing who I am, I know that I will never understand 23:20 Why one like You would die for one like me 23:27 I'll never know, but forever, I'll believe 23:36 What kind of love would leave His home in heaven 23:43 To become like the ones He came to save 23:50 What power, what compassion would hold unto a cross 23:58 Then raise Him up, triumphant from the grave 24:08 I'll never know what made You leave the throne 24:16 I'll never know why You chose Calvary 24:23 And knowing who I am, I know that I will never understand 24:31 Why one like You would die for one like me 24:38 I'll never know, but forever I'll believe 24:59 I'll believe 25:14 - Beautiful song. "I Will Never Know." 25:17 Well, I think what we'd like him to do, if you 25:19 don't mind, if we can put you on the spot 25:21 right here, if we could get them to do something 25:25 they hadn't planned, what would it be? - Oh, 25:30 boy. - That depends on Reggie, and then I usually 25:33 know as he's starting the intro, so... [laughter] 25:35 - That's true! You know what, let's do... We're 25:39 gonna- key of F. - Okay. - Let's see. Oh, Lord, 25:44 You're beautiful 25:53 Your face is all I see 26:02 For when Your eyes 26:07 They're on this child 26:12 Your grace abounds to me 26:20 I want to take Your Word 26:27 And shine it all around 26:30 First, help me, Lord 26:34 To just live in love 26:40 And when I'm doing well 26:47 Help me to never seek a crown 26:50 For my reward is given glory unto You 27:01 Oh, Lord, please light the fire 27:11 That once burned bright and clear 27:21 And replace the Lamb Of my first love 27:30 That burns with holy feat 27:38 Love this... I wanna take Your Word 27:45 And shine it all around 27:49 But first, help me to just live in love 27:58 And when I'm doing well 28:03 Help me to never, never seek a crown 28:08 For my reward is giving glory unto You 28:20 - Praise the Lord. - How beautiful. - Isn't it? Mm, mm, 28:25 mm. Music is- go ahead, Ladye. - I was just going to 28:28 say one thing: I just- I love that song, because 28:31 sometimes, you can get caught up in what you're 28:33 doing; and it says, "And when I'm doing 28:35 well, help me to never seek a crown." And the 28:38 other day, I was just reading that verse about 28:40 I must decrease so He can increase. And then, 28:44 I love that song, because it says, "I want to take 28:46 Your Word and shine it all around," and that is 28:48 what 3ABN does all over the world. I mean, we were 28:52 talking yesterday. Anywhere we can go, we can turn on a 28:54 TV-basically-and there you are! And we're at 28:58 home. - Yeah, we are, 'cause you're on it, too. 29:01 - Okay, there we are! [laughter] But you know, you think- I mean, 29:04 I just hope people out there realize the work 29:08 that is being done here and that could never be 29:10 done any other way-that people can turn a TV on 29:13 and see something that they've never heard or 29:15 seen, and hear about Jesus. - Yesterday, 29:19 we were eating lunch. I won't go into the whole 29:20 story, but they said a woman wanted you 29:23 to call her-somebody that we know from Texas. 29:26 She was telling us that she had moved to an 29:30 area and met some folk and met this gentleman, 29:34 started talking to him... He's Jewish, and he was 29:38 so excited, 'cause he had gotten a book in 29:39 the mail called The Ten Commandments Twice 29:41 Removed, and it had- changing his whole theology. 29:44 So he was taking to his whole family and basically 29:48 saying, "You know, maybe there's more we need to 29:51 be looking into with Jesus." And the 29:54 testimonies, we hear those around the world, 29:56 and it's always encouraging, no matter where we go- 30:00 whether it's Russia, others... When we're 30:02 there singing, that whole church is full, and you ask 30:05 them how many came to the Lord through Elder 30:07 Carter's meetings way back, and 3ABN being 30:10 there...most of the hands raise up. So... - And not 30:13 just in churches. We'll be traveling, and when 30:15 we're in the hotels or we're at airports... We 30:18 were at a hotel recently, about to go to a church, 30:20 and the guy was playing the piano as we walked 30:22 through in the hotel, and was... I don't know; 30:26 we started talking to him, and then he went, 30:27 [gasp] "Danny Shelton?" And he said, "I saw you 30:30 on TV, and I heard you play." I mean, that's how 30:33 you're reaching people- not even just in church, 30:35 but all over the world where you would never 30:37 be able to go with 3ABN. - Aw, praise the Lord. 30:39 You know, the other thing is, even in those countries 30:42 where you can't openly talk about Jesus 30:46 Christ... We know about people in the Middle East 30:49 who are Muslim and they cannot openly talk about 30:52 Jesus...and 3ABN is playing there, as well. 30:55 So, it's a blessing. - Well, all I can say is God gave 30:59 the song. - Oh, I love it. - Tell me a little bit about 31:02 that. It's a great song. Reggie, you introduce 31:05 it, 'cause she's going to sing it, right? - Okay, 31:07 that's right. Ladye's going to sing it. So, 31:08 this is a song that Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote, 31:11 and this is a song that I... We did a CD called 31:16 "The Miracle Record" with Lari Goss-the 31:19 great Lari Goss. You know, our dear friend- 31:21 dear friend of you guys. And he wanted to do kind 31:26 of a... Ladye Love grew up singing kind of that 31:29 old big band kind of sound. Her daddy- 31:32 he did that. He was a guitar player-you know, 31:35 a rhythm guitar player in the big band with the 31:37 horns and things and 18-piece... Anyway, so 31:40 we kind of did it in that flavor of that, 31:43 which was her daddy's- her favorite flavor, so 31:45 this is- but you gotta tell the story. This is 31:48 a song, one of the first songs that you sang from 31:50 the... Did you not? - I don't know. Tell me. 31:53 [laughter] - "God Gave the Song." This is one of 31:56 your first songs that you learned and sang 31:58 in church, is it not? - Yes! Yes, and let's... 32:01 Yes. - Okay! Well, she wants to... If we're 32:03 going to do it, then she's... - I didn't know 32:04 the song was... No, I better not say that. 32:06 I started to say, "that old!" [Oh!] - You WERE 32:11 my good friend. - I meant more than 10 years old. 32:13 - More than 10 years or 15! - Oh, alright. 32:15 Alright. - But you know what- but I love when 32:17 she sings this song, Danny. - Oh, I do, too. 32:19 It's a great song. - All right. - Let's hear Ladye 32:22 Love sing, "God Gave the Song." - And get out of this hole. 32:24 - Yeah, right; right! - Yeah, I'm in trouble, 32:26 but maybe we'll get back to the spiritual side of 32:29 everything. - Yeah, you can fix it. - All right. 32:30 "God Gave the Song." 32:42 You ask me why my heart keeps singing 32:51 How can I sing when things go wrong 33:00 For since I've found the source of music 33:09 I just can't help it, 'cause God gave the song 33:19 Come walk with me through fields and forests 33:28 We'll climb those hills and still hear that song 33:37 For even hills resound with music 33:46 For they just can't help it, 'cause God gave the song 33:57 And I sing because I'm happy 34:05 And I sing because I've found 34:14 The source of music 34:18 And I just can't help it, 'cause God gave the song 34:28 For since I've found the source of music 34:37 I just can't help it, 'cause God gave the song 34:49 God gave the song 35:03 - Amen. - Amen. - Have you ever heard that 35:05 song? It's beautiful. - I have not! I have not. 35:08 - Gave the song... - Oh, my. He knows every 35:11 song with every verse. - I almost jumped in with 35:13 you, but I didn't. - Oh, my goodness. - Maybe 35:15 another time. It's a gorgeous song. - That's 35:17 a perfect key for you, by the way. - And Ladye 35:19 Love, you know you're one of my favorite singers 35:20 in the whole world. And, again, I say that not to 35:22 uplift them, but Jesus in them. - Yes! Yes. 35:25 - I always say you're like my manager or my 35:27 daddy, so... [laughter] - All right. I love it, 'cause 35:30 I loved your dad. He was so sweet; great musician. 35:33 Why don't we...? I know, Yvonne, one of her favorite 35:38 songs... - Oh... - I'll let you ask him, 'cause 35:40 I know what you're going to ask. - About a few years 35:44 ago, Reggie said, "You have to hear this song," 35:47 and he started playing. I just...oh! It just melted 35:52 my heart. It's such a beautiful song; such a 35:55 great arrangement of a hymn that we all know 35:59 and love! And this twist on it is just so beautiful. 36:03 So would you do "At the Cross?" - Oh, for sure. 36:05 - Yay! [music starts] 36:17 Alas, and did my Savior bleed? 36:27 And did my Sovereign die? 36:37 Would He devote that sacred head 36:48 For such a worm as I? 36:58 At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light 37:08 And the burden of my heart rolled away 37:19 It was there by faith, I received my sight 37:30 And now, I am happy all the day 37:47 Was it for Christ that I have done 37:57 He groaned upon the tree? 38:08 Amazing pity; grace unknown 38:19 And love beyond degree 38:28 At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light 38:39 And the burden of my heart rolled away 38:50 It was there by faith, I received my sight 39:01 And now, I am happy all the day 39:11 Mm... 39:19 [mm's and oh's] 39:27 At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light 39:38 And the burden of my heart rolled away 39:49 It was there by faith, I received my sight 40:03 And now, we are happy all the day 40:14 Mmm 40:30 - Wow. Praise the Lord. That is so beautiful. 40:34 And just think of it, you know? And the 40:35 writer said, "Such a worm as I." Some people say, 40:37 "Well, I don't like that. I'm going to say, 'Such 40:39 a one as I.'" I don't think it makes any difference, 40:41 but it's really saying that we're nothing. 40:43 The Bible says we're as filthy rags in the 40:46 sight of God- and yet, He loved us enough to 40:49 come down, make a plan of salvation... But to come 40:51 down and then live on this earth where He was 40:53 rejected and despised by men. - Yes...yes. 40:57 - You know? I mean, that kind of love, 40:59 we will never know. I'm so glad you wrote 41:00 the song, "I'll Never Know," but... It's 41:03 amazing love that God, the Creator- and 41:07 I don't know why... The reason I'm not 41:09 God is, I'd look down and say, "You know what, 41:10 I'm tire- they're all... I'm going to get rid of 41:13 them all." [laughter] I probably wouldn't 41:14 have saved...you know? - Him and him and... 41:16 - Yeah. I probably wouldn't have saved no... 41:18 in...group, you know? And most of us wouldn't. - Right. 41:20 - But that kind of love- the everlasting agape, 41:24 beautiful love that we'll never know. Now we see 41:27 through a glass darkly but then face to face. 41:30 - And then when you say that, you know... I know 41:32 we just have- Brett's our only child, and... 41:34 But as a father of a 16-year-old, I'm learning 41:38 about God's love, about how He's teaching me 41:43 to love even a teenager. [laughter] - That's right. 41:48 Learning about mercy and grace. - Woohoo! 41:50 Learning about mercy and grace. And you know 41:52 what? You love through the good times and the 41:54 bad times. Sometimes, a teenager... You know! 41:57 Their brain is not completely there, 42:00 and they can maybe make... We all can make a bad 42:02 decision! You know, especially- I remember 42:04 as a 16-year-old... But you know what, 42:06 learning the love of God through my son... 42:09 I'm learning a lot through him. - The depth of His love. 42:11 We can only... We can't even fathom the depth 42:14 of God's love, but it gives us a little bit 42:16 of that insight. - Absolutely. Can you imagine God loves 42:20 the praises of His people. And speaking of that, 42:24 we're getting almost out of time-but I think you 42:26 do a song, "Hymn of Praise." Would you be willing to 42:29 do that for us? - Oh, absolutely. - And this 42:32 is a hymn that was written- the lyric-was Gloria Gaither 42:36 and some old 1800s melody. - Wonderful. - Amen! 43:05 Oh, loving Father, by Your grace 43:12 We gather here to seek Your face 43:19 And thank You for this family 43:26 For hearth and home and loyalty 43:36 Our hearts are full of gratitude 43:42 For work and rest and daily food 43:49 For neighbors kind and faithful friends 43:56 The gifts on which our lives depend 44:12 Mm... 44:17 Ah... 44:32 We even thank You for the pain 44:38 It's through the losses that we gain 44:45 A clear perspective, better view 44:52 Of our dependency of You 44:58 We hold all things with open hand 45:05 Our homes, our lives, and this great land 45:12 Our gifts, possessions, and our days 45:20 We lift to You in grateful praise 45:36 Mm... 45:40 Ah... 45:54 Through good and bad, we've learned to trust 46:01 That You are loving, wise, and just 46:07 So now, with childlike hearts we raise 46:14 Our hymn of deepest, highest praise 46:21 Yes, now with trusting hearts we raise 46:29 Our hymn of deepest, highest praise 46:45 Our hymn of deepest... 46:52 Highest praise 47:10 - Amen. - Amen! - You know, the trouble with 47:13 this program? - What? - It's almost over. - I 47:16 know! - I can't believe that our time is gone. 47:20 - I know. - What I want to do in just a moment- 47:22 we won't yet-but we want you to get your 47:25 computer or pencil, paper, whatever; 47:27 we're going to give an address roll in a little 47:28 bit. - Good. - Tell us a little bit: have you 47:30 guys done any new projects in the last couple years? 47:33 Tell me about that. - Well, we have two kind-of-new 47:36 ones. - Okay. - We actually did a solo project on Reggie 47:40 since he's out traveling with the vocal band that 47:42 he could have on the road, and I love it; it's my favorite. 47:45 [laughter] - Oh, alright. Good. - So, it's amazing, 47:48 and it's got a lot of- some of the songs- 47:49 it actually has "I Have Fixed My Mind" on that 47:52 project, as well. - Oh, wow. Nice. 47:53 [simultaneous chatter] 47:55 - One of the best songs I think he's ever... - General 47:56 Conference. - Yes! - By the way, that was a 47:59 great memory for me, Danny, to sing at the 48:01 General Conference with a live orchestra. - Wow, 48:04 beautiful. - All I was? Atlanta dome. Wasn't it 48:05 there at Atlanta? - The Atlanta dome was amazing. 48:08 - Yeah, it is. - That was a great, great, 48:10 great project, by the way. - Yeah. Yeah, and thank 48:12 you. I mean, absolutely amazing. - Mhm. - And 48:16 then we have one other CD that we just put a 48:18 compilation of some of the songs that we've 48:19 done in the past and a few new ones, also. 48:22 So some that you've heard here, and then 48:24 some new ones, as well. - Oh, we love it. And 48:27 what I want to do in just a minute is we want to 48:30 make sure, though, we have time for one more 48:31 song. - Oh, yeah; for sure! - We've gotta do that, and 48:33 then put up an address for all the people who 48:35 want to contact you- not only for product, 48:38 but for engagements, if you want people? 48:40 Now, you won't travel to places like Europe or 48:44 Australia or anywhere like that, will you? - Oh, 48:46 never, yes, always! [laughter] - Absolutely! - I tell you- 48:49 I was just thinking today that my friends, 48:51 Georgie, will see us in Australia on 3ABN Today, 48:54 and... - "We'll be watching you guys up 48:56 there..." - And just friends from all 49:00 over the world. You know, when we went to Russia 49:01 with you, that was just such an amazing experience 49:04 with Julia and the whole 3ABN crew. I really felt 49:08 a connection. I was just telling Reggie that yesterday, 49:10 driving! I said, "I felt a connection." And 49:12 interestingly enough, my ancestry.com... 49:15 [laughter] - Ah, really!? - Alright, tell us about 49:18 it. - I have a little bit of Russian! And 49:20 a little bit of a lot of other things, too... 49:22 But I said, "Reggie, that's why I felt so 49:24 connected!" [laughter] But I think it was the 49:26 love of Jesus that I felt connected with 49:27 everyone with, and that the same mission... - 49:29 that's why you picked up the language so well, 49:31 right? - Oh, yes. [laughter] - Just hold, hold- don't- 49:34 - No. [continued laughter] - It's placebo! - Leave it 49:37 there. - Thank you! - Okay. All right. So, 49:41 what we'll do- let's just go ahead and do it. We'll 49:43 put the address roll up, but I want to come back 49:45 and make sure we got time to at least do "Above 49:48 All," the song, "Above All," okay? We'll go to 49:51 the roll now. 49:53 - If you would like to invite Reggie and Ladye 49:55 Love Smith to your church, a retreat, or conference 49:59 in your area, they would love to hear from you. 50:01 You may contact them through their website, 50:04 ReggieAndLadyeLove.com, where you'll also find a 50:07 list of their recordings. That website, again, is 50:10 ReggieAndLadyeLove.com. You may also contact them 50:14 by mail at Reggie and Ladye Love Smith, 50:17 Post Office Box 96, Kingston Springs, 50:20 Tennessee 37082. That's PO Box 96, 50:26 Kingston Springs, TN 37082. 50:38 - Okay. And if you didn't get that, all you have 50:40 to do is call us or write us here at 3ABN, and 50:43 we'll make sure you get the address. So, we're 50:46 looking forward to it. I hope they brought a 50:47 couple extras. - That's right! - And we'll have 50:49 our hand out. - That's right! - You have to 50:51 make a donation, though. - Ohh, ok. - On our behalf! 50:54 - I notice how you said, "you"- "YOU have to 50:57 make a donation!" - It was worth a try. -? 51:00 in our lives for many years, so, I think you... 51:03 - Yay! Alright. [Yay!] Well, we've been talking 51:07 about it-this song that we really love. I know 51:09 Yvonne and I both and people have heard you 51:11 sing it before, and I'm always blessed as you 51:14 sing, "Above All." 51:36 Above all powers Above all kings 51:44 Above all nature and all created things 51:52 Above all wisdom and all the ways of man 52:02 You were here before the world began 52:09 Above all kingdoms Above all thrones 52:17 Above all wonders the world has ever known 52:26 Above all wealth and treasures of the earth 52:35 There's no way to measure what you're worth 52:43 Crucified, laid behind a stone 52:51 You lived to die Rejected and alone 52:59 Like a rose trampled on the ground 53:07 You took the fall And thought of me 53:15 Above all 53:27 Above all powers Above all kings 53:36 Above all nature and all created things 53:44 Above all wisdom and all the ways of man 53:54 You were here before the world began 54:02 Crucified, laid behind a stone 54:10 You lived to die Rejected and alone 54:17 Like a rose trampled on the ground 54:25 You took the fall And thought of me 54:34 Above all 54:39 Crucified, laid behind a stone 54:47 You lived to die Rejected and alone 54:55 Like a rose trampled on the ground 55:03 You took the fall And thought of me 55:11 Above all 55:15 Like the rose that'd been trampled on the ground 55:24 Lord, You took the fall And thought of me 55:36 Above all 55:47 Ooh... 56:01 - Wow. I never get tired of hearing them sing that 56:03 song. - I know. Absolutely. - So beautiful. - All right. 56:06 Our time is just about all gone. Are you gonna- 56:07 you guys come back, now; we won't have to beg you 56:10 and all that? - Absolutely. - We are here. You just let 56:13 us know, and we are here. And I'd just want to tell 56:15 everybody that we love being a part-as I've said- 56:19 here, and we love to come to where you are, 56:21 too. We still sing together. I had somebody last week 56:23 say, "Are y'all not together anymore, singing?" And I said, 56:26 "No, we still do stuff!" - 100%. - And we would 56:28 love to come to Australia, as you said a while ago, 56:32 or Russia, or anywhere- Texas... - Well, you're 56:35 going to get a lot of invites from this. I'm 56:37 sure now that you're... We wanted to do this 56:40 program with them, because people do ask, and they ask 56:42 us, too. "We haven't seen Reggie and..." 56:45 And honestly-we go places: "We haven't seen Reggie 56:47 and Ladye Love on lately!" So we said, "Okay, we gotta 56:49 get them back up; let everybody know everything's 56:52 okay," but you've just been busy with the vocal 56:54 band. - We've kind of gotten our groove now. 56:56 We know we have places... We're usually two weekends 57:00 out of the month together. - Okay. Wonderful. All right. 57:03 Well, for our folks at home, the bad news is our time is 57:05 all gone, so until we see you next time, may the 57:08 Lord richly bless you abundantly more than 57:10 you could ever ask or think.
