00:01 You know, friends, we hope you enjoyed our study today.
00:02 We'll encourage you to rewind it, pause it, 00:04 just break down all those scriptures in there. 00:06 But, Ryan, let me give you the opportunity of capping off, 00:08 what was the real purpose 00:10 behind the parable of the rich man and Lazarus? 00:12 Sure, you know, there is multiple purposes, 00:14 I believe it's communicated here 00:15 but the overall purpose that I see, is a God of love. 00:19 1 John 4:8, as I said earlier, God is love. 00:22 He loves His people, Pastor John. 00:25 And speaking to these Pharisees, 00:27 He was pleading with them to reject the Hellenistic, 00:31 Greek and Roman philosophies of the day, 00:33 to accept the truth and to realize 00:35 that the gospel was and the love of God 00:37 was not just for them, but for everyone. 00:39 And a couple of scriptures 00:41 that come to my mind here in closing, 00:42 2 Chronicles 7:14, 00:45 I believe this was just bleeding 00:46 from the words of Christ 00:48 when He says, "If My people who are called by My name 00:51 will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, 00:54 and turn from their wicked ways, 00:56 then I will hear from heaven, 00:58 and I will forgive their sin and heal their land." 01:01 So that apart there, turn from their wicked ways 01:04 and, of course, one more Ezekiel 33:11, 01:07 and He says, "As I live, saith the Lord God, 01:09 I have no pleasure 01:11 in the destruction of the wicked, 01:13 but that the wicked turn from his way and live. 01:15 Turn you, turn you from your evil ways! 01:17 For why will you die?" 01:19 That's right, and Paul the Apostle 01:20 in the city of Antioch said to the Jews, 01:23 "For the Lord has commanded you, 01:25 I've sent you to be a light to the Gentiles 01:27 that you should be for salvation 01:28 to the ends of the earth. 01:30 And when the Gentiles heard this, 01:31 they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord." 01:34 Acts 13:47 and 48. 01:36 You see, friends, the whole gospel is, 01:38 it's for everyone. 01:39 Not for the Jews only but for the Gentiles, 01:41 not for the wealthy, but for the poor, everyone. 01:44 The Lord is, for God so loved the world. 01:47 Amen. 01:49 Hopefully, we cleared up a misconception, 01:50 and we'll continue in the future on other topics 01:52 but until that time, 01:54 may the Lord bless you and keep you, 01:56 may you stand on His Word and on His righteousness. 01:59 God bless you. |
