Ah, wonderful. 04:39 Welcome to just the time around the piano 04:42 with Ryan and Tim. 04:44 Thank you for joining us. 04:45 We're just going to sing some songs 04:47 that make us rejoice. 04:50 It's so up. That's all. 04:52 Amen. 04:53 We need a little rejoicing. We need some uplifting. 04:55 We're living in interesting times... 04:57 Oh, yeah, for sure. 04:58 To sing praises to the Lord. 04:59 Anytime we have that opportunity, 05:01 we should take it. 05:02 Absolutely. You know what? 05:03 We really have to make the opportunity to do that 05:06 because we have something to rejoice about every day. 05:08 All we have to do is open the Word of God 05:10 and He has given us plenty to rejoice about. 05:12 That's right. 05:14 So I don't ever want to miss an opportunity 05:16 to thank him and praise Him and glorify Him. 05:19 So we're just going to do that. 05:22 Don't be offended by anything we do. 05:24 That's not our intent. 05:26 We're here to just rejoice and love on Jesus 05:29 the way that I was raised to do it. 05:30 I mean, just to... 05:32 What would we do without Him, right? 05:33 Amen. Right. 05:35 In fact, that's what we're going to sing about 05:36 without Him. 05:37 Why don't we do that? 05:51 Without Him 05:54 I could do nothing 06:02 Without Him 06:05 I'd surely fail 06:13 And without Him 06:16 I would be drifting 06:23 Like a ship 06:27 Without a sail 06:36 Without Him 06:39 I would be dying 06:46 And without Him 06:50 I'd be enslaved 06:57 And without Him 07:01 Life would be hopeless 07:08 But with Jesus 07:12 Thank God 07:15 I'm saved 07:21 Jesus 07:25 Oh Jesus 07:31 Do you know Him today 07:37 Please don't turn Him away 07:42 Oh Jesus 07:48 My Jesus 07:55 Without Him 07:58 How lost 08:00 I would be 08:04 Let me sing that again. 08:07 Jesus 08:12 Oh Jesus 08:17 Do you know Him today 08:23 Please don't turn Him away 08:28 Oh Jesus 08:35 My Jesus 08:43 Without Him 08:46 How lost 08:48 I would be 08:56 Yes, without Him 09:01 How lost 09:06 I would be. 09:19 Amen. Amen. 09:20 Sweet. 09:23 Without Jesus, 09:24 without the blood that He shed for us, 09:29 we would truly, we would be without hope. 09:34 So I would be without hope. 09:36 Absolutely. 09:38 So I am grateful for the blood of Jesus. 09:40 And I love the scripture in 1 Peter 1:18 and 19 09:44 that says, "For you know 09:46 that it was not with perishable things 09:47 such as silver or gold, 09:50 that you were redeemed from the empty way of life, 09:52 handed down to you from your forefathers, 09:54 but with the precious blood of Christ, 09:57 a lamb without blemish or defect." 10:01 So I like the song that says I claim the blood. 10:09 I have a source of strength 10:15 When I am weak 10:20 That takes me through 10:24 When life is pressing me 10:31 I have a source 10:35 Of power from above 10:42 I'm covered over by 10:48 A shield of love 10:53 And I claim the blood 10:58 Jesus shed on Calvary 11:05 Those precious blood stains 11:09 Were made there just for me 11:16 For all my sins 11:20 My sickness and my pain 11:27 When I need healing 11:31 I claim Those precious blood stains 11:41 I do not know 11:45 How others make it through 11:51 Who never go to Calvary 11:58 As I do 12:02 For there a healing 12:07 Cleansing stream still flows 12:13 With peace that only 12:17 His redeemed can know 12:24 So I claim the blood 12:28 Jesus shed on Calvary 12:35 Those precious blood stains 12:40 Were made there just for me 12:46 For all my sins 12:51 My sickness and my pain 12:58 When I need healing 13:02 I claim Those precious blood stains 13:09 For all my sins 13:14 My sickness and my pain 13:21 When I need healing 13:26 I claim Those precious blood stains 13:44 Amen. 13:46 I talked to you briefly 13:47 as we were preparing for this program, 13:50 and you know, my mother, 13:53 the very last song she ever sang. 13:56 She was laying in the hospital bed. 13:59 The day before she went into ICU, 14:00 she sang this song. 14:02 And I remember her telling me about 14:03 and she said can you play it for me? 14:05 And so I played the Hemphill singing it, 14:09 and she just lifted her hands in the hospital. 14:12 And she was worshiping the Lord in her closing moments. 14:15 And it's a beautiful song and it's so fitting, 14:19 we can claim the blood. 14:20 Amen. 14:22 And she did in her dying moments. 14:24 We can claim the blood now, 14:27 because it is a precious blood stain. 14:29 Thank you, Lord. Amen. 14:32 What a wonderful plan of redemption 14:35 that our Father has for us. 14:38 And that kind of leads me to this song. 14:42 For those who can't grasp the concept 14:46 or haven't even given Christ the thought 14:50 His plan for their life. 14:54 The song says pity the man. 14:58 Mark 8:34-37 says, "Whoever desires," 15:01 Jesus sayings, 15:02 "Whoever desires to come after Me, 15:04 let him deny himself 15:05 and take up his cross and follow Me. 15:07 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, 15:11 but whoever loses his life for My sake 15:13 and the gospels will save it. 15:16 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world 15:18 and loses his own soul." 15:20 Powerful. 15:22 "Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" 15:25 So I guess we should pity 15:29 The man in this world 15:32 Who must use the earth For a bit 15:36 And I guess we should pity 15:39 The man who must toil 15:42 From dawn to dusk for his bread 15:46 But these can be rich 15:49 If they have contentment 15:51 And share In God's salvation plan 15:56 But if you know any 15:59 Who though they have plenty 16:01 Are lost, then pity the man 16:07 Pity the man 16:09 Who has treasures to hold 16:12 And holds not the pearl Of great price 16:17 Pity the man 16:19 Though he lives long on earth 16:21 Yet he knows not 16:23 The Giver of life 16:27 Doctor, or lawyer Traveler, or merchant 16:32 Builder who builds on the sand 16:37 Pauper or king To be saved is the thing 16:42 If he's lost then pity the man 16:50 And I guess there are those Who pity the saved 16:55 As though We were missing life's best 17:00 They're forgetting The treasures of earth 17:04 Pass away 17:05 And heaven is the place To invest 17:11 Their meanwhile esteeming 17:13 The man who is scheming 17:15 To hold all the wealth That he can 17:20 But if while he's living to God 17:24 he's not giving his soul, 17:27 Then pity the man 17:30 Oh, pity the man 17:33 Who has treasures to hold 17:35 And holds not the pearl Of great price 17:41 Pity the man 17:43 Though he lives long on earth 17:46 Yet he knows not The Giver of life 17:51 Doctor, or lawyer Traveler, or merchant 17:56 Builder who builds on the sand 18:01 Pauper or king To be saved is the thing 18:06 Oh, if he's lost Then pity the man 18:11 Pauper or king To be saved is the thing 18:16 If he's lost Then I pity the man 18:31 Praise the Lord. 18:32 Wow. 18:35 You know, as you were talking about that, 18:37 the passage of scripture came to my mind. 18:40 It's in Matthew 25, 18:41 where Jesus is talking about ministering 18:43 to those in need. 18:45 Those who are sick, 18:46 you know, those who are oppressed, 18:48 those who are in prison. 18:49 You know, and Jesus says, 18:51 "If you've done this for the least of these, 18:52 and you've done this for Me." 18:54 And there are so many people in the world today 18:57 that choose not to serve God or to identify as Christian 19:01 or to be a Christian 19:03 because of, well, 19:05 the lack of a Christ-like attitude 19:08 and the lack of Christ likeness 19:10 from those who profess Him, right? 19:12 And I think, it's Paul that says it very clearly. 19:15 He says that he was given a prophecy 19:17 and he was shown the end times 19:19 and he saw, he makes this long list. 19:22 I think it's in the Book 19:23 of 1 Corinthians or 2 Corinthians, 19:25 he makes this long list. 19:26 And he basically, 19:27 or it's actually 1 Tim, 1 or 2 Timothy, 19:29 I think it is. 19:30 But he makes this long list 19:31 of all these different characteristics 19:33 of people who are living in sin, 19:34 disobedient to parents and partying, 19:37 you know, pride grown up living all these things. 19:39 But then he says something toward the end, 19:40 he lists them and he says, having a form of godliness, 19:45 but denying its power. 19:47 Right. 19:48 And that strict scripture has always stuck with me 19:50 because I don't want to be that person. 19:53 I don't want to seem like 19:55 a whitewashed tomb on the outside, 19:57 kind of like the Pharisees 19:59 as Jesus called them hypocrites. 20:01 And you know, I want a real experience with God. 20:05 I want Him to make it real for me 20:06 because we know that that we can't do anything 20:08 in and of ourselves to gain a salvation. 20:11 We just simply surrender. 20:12 But the song that I would like to sing 20:15 at this time, it tells that testimony. 20:17 The person who wrote this song 20:18 was pouring a heart out to the Lord saying, 20:20 "God, give me a real experience. 20:22 Make it real. 20:24 I want to feel You, I want to know You're there." 20:26 And, you know, all these people around us 20:28 seem to have masks on and they're playing a role or, 20:31 you know, they're saying good things, 20:32 but yet, you know, 20:34 that the fruits of the Spirit are not really there. 20:36 Right. So make it real, Lord. 20:38 That's what the song says. 20:45 I've seen a lot of crazy things 20:49 Done in Your name 20:53 I know the tricks 20:55 Behind the magic show 21:01 I've almost thrown the towel in 21:06 A time or two 21:10 And walked away 21:12 From everything I know 21:18 But I can't feel this emptiness 21:22 Inside of me 21:26 Or calm the troubled waters 21:30 Of my mind 21:35 So if You're really out there 21:38 And You're listening 21:43 Then prove to me 21:45 That those who seek will find 21:50 If you can just see fit 21:53 To show me some of who You are 21:58 If you can shed some light 22:01 Into this broken sinners' heart 22:07 I need to know the truth 22:10 And I need 22:12 Something I can feel 22:18 I need you 22:25 To make it real 22:42 There must be some good reason 22:46 Why You brought me here 22:50 Through the valleys 22:51 Where the shadows hover close 22:58 Down here there's a mask 23:01 To cover every face 23:06 It's your sweet face 23:08 I long to see the most 23:14 So if you think 23:16 There's just the slightest hope For me 23:22 In spite of all my questions 23:25 And my doubts 23:30 Then let me hear Your still small voice 23:34 Speak out my name 23:38 And let me know What others talk about 23:45 If you can just see fit 23:48 To show me some of who You are 23:53 If you can shed some light 23:56 Into this broken sinners' heart 24:01 I need to know the truth 24:05 And I need 24:06 Something I can feel 24:12 I need you 24:19 To make it real 24:23 I need to know the truth 24:26 And I need Something I can feel 24:35 I need you 24:42 Lord to make it real 24:48 Make it real 24:57 It's good. 24:59 You know, it's powerful 25:00 because that type of message 25:06 is not a message 25:07 that someone from Laodicea would sing. 25:11 Because when you read in the Scripture, 25:13 in Revelation Chapter 3, 25:15 Jesus, obviously He sends all these different messages 25:17 in Revelation 1, 2, and 3 to the seven churches of Asia. 25:21 And we know that the last church age 25:23 is Laodicea. 25:24 We believe that that's the church age 25:25 we're living in, right? 25:27 We're Laodicean. 25:28 And Jesus gives 25:29 a very strong rebuke to Laodicea. 25:32 And He counsels them to buy from Him gold, 25:34 tried in the fire 25:35 and white garments that they may be clothed, 25:38 that the shame of their nakedness 25:39 may be clothed upon 25:40 and, of course, eye salve that they can see. 25:43 But He tells them 25:44 before He delivers that counsel, 25:46 He says, you know, 25:47 you think that you're rich in abundance 25:49 and need of nothing 25:50 but yet you're wretched, miserable, poor, 25:52 blind and naked. 25:55 And in each one, to each one of the churches, 25:58 He says, "I know your works," but to Laodicea He says, 26:03 "I wish that you were cold or hot. 26:06 Because if you were cold or hot, 26:08 I can work with that," right? 26:10 He says, "But you're lukewarm." 26:11 And you know, Jesus says, "You made me want to." 26:13 And the New King James Version actually uses the word vomit. 26:15 Or maybe He want to vomit, the King James Version says, 26:18 spew you out of My mouth 26:19 because that that type of lukewarm condition 26:22 makes Jesus sick, right? 26:24 And it's just powerful 26:26 because when you connect that to the message 26:27 that He gave to Ephesus, 26:31 the one thing He commended Ephesus for 26:33 is, you know, He gave them on, there are many nice things. 26:35 But one thing 26:37 that He did not commend them for, 26:38 He said, "You have lost your first love," right? 26:40 You've lost that red hotness, right? 26:44 We want be on fire for God. 26:45 You know, God says, 26:46 "I wish that you were cold or hot." 26:48 We don't necessarily want to be cold, 26:49 but in a cold state, He can work with us, right? 26:50 Because when you're cold, you're uncomfortable, 26:52 you desire to be warm. 26:53 And when you're hot, you're cold. 26:55 You desire to be cool, 26:56 but we want to be on fire for God, 26:58 and there's a song 26:59 that me and my family used to sing growing up. 27:01 It's a fun song to sing, written by Carroll McGruder, 27:04 and it's called Red Hot Desire. 27:05 And then, and the message of this song is exactly that. 27:08 It's, you know, Carroll McGruder's 27:10 pouring his heart out in this song 27:11 and he's saying you know, 27:12 I want that old-fashioned red hot desire, 27:15 you know, that first love, right? 27:16 I want that first love. 27:18 I want to be on fire for the Lord. 27:20 And I want to sing it for you right now. 27:21 It's a fun song to sing. 27:23 I want that old-fashioned red hot desire. 27:26 Sing it now. 27:29 I want that old-fashioned Red hot desire 27:35 The kind That sets my spirit free 27:37 Sets my soul on fire 27:39 I want it to affect my life 27:41 When I go to God in prayer 27:43 I want that tried and proven 27:46 Old-fashioned red hot desire 27:50 I'm weary of that cold And weary feeling 27:53 Sing it now. 27:55 The lethargy I feel 27:56 When I'm kneeling 27:59 I pray I long to feel God's holy power 28:03 I want that old-fashioned Red hot desire 28:08 I want that old-fashioned Red hot desire 28:13 The kind That sets my spirit free 28:16 Sets my soul on fire 28:18 I want it to affect my life 28:20 When I go to God in prayer 28:22 I want that tried and proven 28:24 Old-fashioned red hot desire 28:29 I'm tired of feeling Like I've been robbed 28:33 My Christian life is more Than just a job 28:37 Come on now. 28:38 Lord, plant me on the rock Not in the mire 28:42 Give me that old-fashioned Red hot desire 28:47 I want that old-fashioned Red hot desire 28:52 The kind That sets my spirit free 28:55 Sets my soul on fire 28:57 I want it to affect my life 29:00 When I go to God in prayer 29:01 I want that tried and proven 29:04 Old-fashioned red hot desire 29:06 Sing it again. 29:07 I want that old-fashioned Red hot desire 29:13 The kind That sets my spirit free 29:15 Sets my soul on fire 29:18 I want it to affect my life 29:20 When I go to God in prayer 29:22 I want that tried and proven 29:24 Old-fashioned red hot desire 29:28 I want that tried and proven 29:30 Old-fashioned red hot desire. 29:40 Yes. That's the only kind to have. 29:41 That' right. Right. 29:43 Red hot desire, I like it. 29:45 Well, there's nothing more exciting 29:46 to see somebody who is sold out. 29:48 Absolutely. 29:49 In whatever they do, you know, I mean, 29:50 I guess I am probably 29:53 the worst salesman in the world. 29:55 I'm the person who knocks on your door 29:57 and said, 29:58 "You wouldn't want to buy something like this, will you? 30:01 You know, you're not interested in this, 30:02 are you?" 30:03 But no, I love that, I love that, 30:05 what the word again? 30:07 The phrase of, I want a... 30:09 What's the last line I want a... 30:11 I want a tried and proven 30:12 because again go back to Laodicea, 30:14 Jesus said, "I counseled you to buy from Me gold 30:16 tried in the fire." 30:18 Right, right. 30:19 You know, sometimes, we have to walk 30:20 through the heat and be tried 30:22 and really fashioned 30:23 in that pure perfect gold like faith 30:26 in order for us to be proven, right? 30:27 That's why he says, 30:29 "I want that tried and proven old-fashioned red hot desire." 30:33 Amen, I like it. 30:34 I do too. I like that a whole lot. 30:39 So we're going to go from that to something... 30:45 No flow here, and so I'm sorry about this. 30:48 No, Brother, take it away. I'm all sold on that. 30:51 So, I want to talk about a song 30:54 that I enjoy about angels 30:58 and so there's a scripture in Psalm 91:9-12, 31:03 "Because you have made the Lord who is my refuge, 31:06 even the Most High, your dwelling place. 31:09 No evil shall befall you," I'm reading without my glasses, 31:14 they're sitting right here over here, so I don't know why, 31:16 but anyway, "No evil shall befall you, 31:18 nor shall any plague come near your dwelling, 31:21 for He shall give His angels charge over you 31:23 to keep you in all your ways. 31:26 In their hands, they shall bear you up, 31:30 lest you dash your foot against a stone." 31:33 And I love the story about Elisha in 2 Kings. 31:37 Yes. 31:39 Where he saw the angels standing in on his, 31:43 ready to fight for him. 31:45 And so, this is a great song, 31:48 reminding us that we have angels. 31:49 In fact, you know, well, 31:51 I'll just sing the song and then we may talk about it 31:53 if we have, if we have time. 31:55 We want to talk about it, anyway. 32:02 In a world full of trouble 32:06 We travel alone 32:09 God is our Father 32:13 We're on our way home 32:16 If forces of evil 32:20 Ever close in on you 32:23 Oh, Jesus has promised 32:27 This is what He will do 32:31 Put angels all around you 32:34 To keep you from harm 32:38 To guide and direct you 32:41 Till you're safe in His arms 32:43 With angels all around you 32:46 You're never alone 32:50 And you'll be protected 32:53 Till you make it home 32:57 Now, here's that story I was talking about in 2 Kings. 33:01 The prophet Elijah 33:04 In the Bible we're told 33:08 Approached by an army 33:11 Just stood there so bold 33:15 'Cause he heard God whisper 33:18 "Fear not my son 33:22 Just look toward the Heavens 33:26 See what I have done" 33:29 I put angels all around you 33:33 To keep you from harm 33:36 To guide and direct you 33:40 Till you're safe in His arms 33:42 With angels all around you 33:45 You're never alone 33:49 And you'll be protected 33:52 Till you make it home 33:54 Oh, yeah. 33:56 I've got angels all around me 33:59 To keep me from harm 34:03 To guide and direct me 34:06 Till I'm safe in His arms 34:08 And with angels all around me 34:11 I am never alone 34:15 And I'll be protected 34:18 Till I make it home. 34:28 Yeah. I love meeting angels. 34:31 Yeah, man, and it's true. 34:33 You know, we are engaged 34:35 in a great controversy battle each day. 34:37 And there's, there are spiritual battles 34:39 going on all around us that we don't even, 34:41 we can't even fathom, right? 34:42 And I am glad that you referenced 34:44 and also the song references the story 34:46 in 1 Kings. 34:47 That's a powerful story. 34:49 Boy, it is. 34:50 And it also shows the faith that Elijah had that God, 34:53 he had so much faith that God had dialed 34:55 in His spiritual vision 34:57 to be able to see 34:58 what many other people couldn't. 35:00 Angels all around us, that's awesome. 35:02 That's good. That's good. 35:03 That's fun. Very fun. 35:05 So, um, yeah. 35:08 Let's... 35:09 Let's sing another one. 35:11 I love this next one. 35:12 This is one that I learned years ago. 35:16 I think this is probably the first time 35:17 I've ever actually sing it though. 35:20 But the song is titled, "On the Authority." 35:23 And I love it because it's talking 35:25 about the power 35:26 and the authority of the Word of God. 35:28 That it's not just some, 35:30 you know, some fairy tale story. 35:31 It's not just a book of history, 35:33 it's not just a book of literature, 35:34 and some people see it even as a book of philosophy. 35:37 And while it may have certain elements 35:39 of all of those things in it, it's much more than that. 35:42 It's the powerful Word of God. 35:45 It was by the Word of God that worlds were built, right? 35:48 The Word of God that man was built 35:50 and it's just powerful 35:52 that you know on the authority of the Word of God, 35:55 we can stand 35:57 and rise up and take our stand on God's Word 35:59 because we know that it is sure and it's the most sure thing. 36:02 I think God's Word says, you know this, 36:03 all this world and everything will pass away, 36:06 but the Word of God will always be everlasting. 36:09 So on the authority, 36:10 we'll see if we can do this right. 36:12 Never sang it before, we'll go. 36:13 Okay, remember this little intro... 36:15 Yeah, yeah, let's try this little intro 36:16 so we can get it right, okay. 36:20 So many years... 36:21 Now let's try that again. 36:23 That was a little, so little, that was little weak, 36:24 so many years... 36:25 Yeah, we're gonna do that in little... 36:27 That didn't sound like authoritative. 36:28 That was not authoritative. 36:29 We got to put a big man boots on for this one. 36:31 Okay. 36:32 I got mine on friend, my socks too. 36:37 So many years I cried 36:40 'Cause my soul denied 36:42 That He would save A wretch like me 36:46 So full of gloom and dread 36:49 That I hung my head 36:51 I wouldn't claim the victory 36:55 Then one day his love Like a winged dove 37:00 Settled down upon my life 37:04 And then I realized 37:07 He had authorized 37:09 My ticket to paradise 37:13 On the authority Of the Holy Word 37:18 I rise up and take my stand 37:22 I'm a blood bought child 37:24 Of the living God 37:27 Who is the Great I Am 37:31 I'm an heir To all that heaven holds 37:35 And no principality 37:39 Can ever take away My royal crown 37:44 Given on His authority 37:51 It's a mystery Why He came to me 37:55 Why He would choose me For His own 37:59 Why He pulled me out Of the lake of doubt 38:04 Set me right beside His throne 38:08 Why He guaranteed With His seal decreed 38:13 My inheritance by right 38:17 I'm His favorite child And that makes me smile 38:21 I'm the center of His delight 38:26 On the authority Of the Holy Word 38:30 I rise up and take my stand 38:35 I'm a blood bought child 38:37 Of the living God 38:39 Who is the Great I Am 38:43 I'm an heir To all that heaven holds 38:48 And no principality 38:52 Can ever take away My royal crown 38:56 Given on His authority 39:02 On the authority Of the Holy Word 39:07 I rise up and take my stand 39:11 I'm a blood bought child Of the living God 39:16 Who is the Great I Am 39:20 I'm an heir To all that heaven holds 39:24 And no principality 39:28 Can ever take away My royal crown 39:33 Given on His authority 39:39 I'm an heir To all that heaven holds 39:44 And no principality 39:49 Can ever take away 39:52 My royal crown 39:54 Given on His authority 39:59 Oh, yeah, yeah. 40:02 Nice. 40:03 Not bad for the first time. I love it. 40:06 Very authoritative. 40:07 Praise the Lord. 40:08 The Word of God is authoritative. 40:10 Oh, my goodness, the B-I-B-L-E, I stand upon the Word of God. 40:14 Amen. That's awesome. I love it. I love it. 40:16 You know, simple songs like, 40:18 you know, we've done this one on the program before, 40:19 we don't have to do it today 40:21 but, you know, songs, simple songs 40:22 like Jesus loves me. 40:23 Why? 40:25 Jesus loves me this I know, why? 40:26 For the Bible. 40:28 For the Bible tells me so. Right. 40:29 You know, I get a kick out of people 40:31 who like secular interviewers, 40:34 you going at, you have a Christian person 40:36 being interviewed. 40:38 And the interviewer will ask a question, 40:40 and the Christian will respond something 40:43 from the Bible. 40:45 And it just like, 40:46 it almost frustrates the interviewer, 40:49 because they don't know how to respond to that, 40:51 you know, it's just other world need to them. 40:53 Right. Absolutely. 40:55 And so, anyway, so I think that it's wonderful 40:58 that we as believers have the word of God. 41:01 So why wouldn't we stand on that authority, 41:04 claim those promises, claim everything 41:07 and then live by the commandments, 41:09 the whole, the whole kit and caboodle, 41:11 we need to follow the Word of God. 41:12 That's right. And it takes a lot of faith. 41:14 It really, really does, it takes a lot of faith. 41:16 You know, and when I say a lot of faith, 41:18 you know, I didn't make it sound like impossible, 41:19 you know, faith isn't impossible. 41:21 But it does take a lot of faith to be able to put your faith, 41:25 your trust into something that, 41:28 you know, to many people doesn't seem real. 41:30 It's just words on a page, 41:31 it's just messages or stories, you know, 41:34 but when you've had a personal encounter, 41:39 and this is where I get excited, 41:40 because that actually helps me set up my next song here. 41:42 Good. 41:43 You know, when you've had 41:45 an personal experience with God, 41:48 the God of the Bible that you read about, 41:49 that it's not just some fairy tale story, 41:52 that there really was a man named Jesus 41:54 who came from heaven, walked to this earth. 41:58 And there's so many thousands of historical documents 42:02 that exist from that time 42:04 afterwards that confirm that Jesus was a real person. 42:10 Eye witness accounts, 42:11 thousands of repetitive stories 42:13 that tell about how this same Jesus 42:16 was murdered, put to death, 42:18 dead for three days nearly, 42:20 and then was resurrected from a tomb 42:22 and hundreds of people saw Him. 42:25 It's not just some fairy tale story, 42:27 but it's something you can trust, it's real. 42:29 And then when you have a personal experience 42:31 with this Jesus... 42:32 Yeah, right. Come on now. 42:34 You know, we all have a story, you have a story, 42:36 I have a story. 42:37 You know, I may not have, 42:39 you know, come to Jesus in a cave or came out of some, 42:42 you know, deep dark, 42:44 you know, satanic agency, or witchcraft, all these, 42:48 all of those are powerful stories, 42:49 and people have those real stories. 42:50 You know, but me, 42:52 you know, I was kind of in a more dangerous situation. 42:55 I was raised in the church. 42:57 I was deceived for many years, 42:59 believing that I knew God when I really didn't. 43:02 And when I come to really have 43:04 a personal experience with Christ, 43:05 I found out 43:07 that I had been praising the Lord 43:10 from within the mire, 43:12 from within the dunghill, as Paul would say, 43:15 you know, and Christ is, 43:17 you know, I'm inside, 43:18 it's like, I was inside this prison, 43:20 and I'm praising God from inside this prison cell, 43:22 because I'm thankful that God has broken the chains 43:26 so that I can walk free within the prison cell. 43:28 But Jesus is like, 43:31 "Man, I died for much more than just those chains 43:33 inside those prison cells. 43:35 Check the door. 43:37 Why don't you walk out of that prison cell? 43:39 Why don't you be free?" 43:40 God wants to make us new. 43:42 He wants to make us a new creature. 43:43 And that's what I love about the song. 43:45 My dad sing this song growing up, 43:47 my mom and dad would sing it, 43:48 and even as a child 43:50 that didn't really fully understand 43:51 the gospel. 43:53 The message of the song always stuck out to me 43:54 because it's entitled, "Better than New." 43:58 It talks about how the world rejected me. 44:01 I was used up, 44:02 I wasn't anything but God you reach down 44:05 and you picked me up, and You pulled me out, 44:08 and You made me better than new. 44:21 The world they all rejected me 44:25 'Cause I was used up 44:29 There wasn't anything Left to drink 44:34 From my empty cup 44:38 They cast me aside 44:42 And I lay broken 44:46 Till I was found by You 44:53 That's right. 44:55 Then You picked me up 44:57 And With your strong And loving hand 45:03 You made my life Better than new 45:09 Better than new 45:12 Lord, better than new 45:20 You mended my life 45:24 Like no other power 45:28 Was able to do 45:35 You made me 45:37 Like you, Lord 45:43 You made me like You 45:50 You knew that in the doing so 45:56 I was made better 46:00 Than new 46:04 Praise the Lord. 46:07 I was born into a life of sin 46:11 Locked in its tensile 46:16 Was hypnotized, mesmerized 46:19 I hadn't a chance 46:23 You see my soul 46:24 Had cried out for mercy 46:30 But there was known to You 46:38 But out of the dark skies 46:43 My eyes met Your eyes 46:46 And you made me better than new 46:51 Better than new 46:55 Oh, better than new 47:03 You mended my life 47:06 Like no other power 47:10 Was able to do 47:18 You made me 47:19 Like new, Lord 47:24 That's right. 47:25 You made me like You 47:32 You knew that in the doing so 47:38 I was made better than new 47:45 That in the doing so 47:50 I was made better 47:54 Than new. 48:06 He makes us better than new, Brother. 48:07 Yes, He does, He does, He does, He does. 48:09 And that's interesting 48:11 because even then 48:13 as He makes us better than new, 48:17 we are still human and we still mess up, 48:23 you know, so He doesn't make us perfect. 48:27 That's right. 48:28 But, so better than new is a really great phrase 48:33 which is better than new 48:34 and the world looks at it weird as it were. 48:36 If it's better than new, then how can it not be perfect? 48:39 Well, just... 48:41 That's probably perfect in His eyes, right? 48:43 In our eyes, we're going to look 48:44 at each other and ourselves 48:46 and be like, man, none of us can be perfect, right? 48:47 Right, in the flesh. 48:49 Right, the flesh cannot be perfect, 48:50 but God can take anything, right? 48:52 He can take that, 48:53 you know, there's a scripture over Malachi that says 48:56 that He's like a refiner, 48:58 He's like a refiner's fire, right? 49:00 Right, yeah. 49:01 He's like a launderer's soap. 49:04 It cleanses us 49:06 and then I think it's Malachi 3:2 and 3 49:08 somewhere in there. 49:09 It's awesome. 49:11 And then it says 49:12 that He's like a refiner of silver. 49:16 And if you know the process of how silver making work, 49:18 it's powerful. 49:21 So the silversmith has to take this ugly piece 49:24 of kind of rough looking silver 49:27 and he holds it 49:29 in the hottest part of the flame, right? 49:30 Yeah, he does. 49:32 And keep in mind, 49:33 He is a refiner of silver, right? 49:34 He holds it in the hottest part of the flame. 49:36 What does that tell us? 49:37 Sometimes, sometimes we have to walk 49:39 through the fiery trials of life. 49:41 And James says we should count it all joy 49:44 when we fall into various trials, right? 49:45 It's like, you know, you're driving down the road 49:47 and you get that flat tire, 49:49 you know who's going to pull over 49:50 and be like, "God, praise You, Lord, 49:52 for that flat tire, you know." 49:53 But you know these different trials, 49:54 the Bible says they build patience, 49:56 it builds character, 49:57 and so He sets and He holds us 49:59 in that hottest part of the flame 50:01 and you might ask, 50:02 "How do you know when it's ready, " right? 50:04 Well, good silversmith will hold it just long enough 50:06 to never take his eyes off of it, 50:08 because just a little too long and it'll burn, it'll scorch. 50:12 But he holds it just in the fire 50:14 just long enough 50:15 until he can see his reflection. 50:18 Nice. 50:21 Until he can see his reflection in that piece of silver. 50:24 He is a refiner. 50:25 He is a refiner's fire. 50:27 He is the launderer, 50:29 so and He will make us better than new. 50:31 He's working on us, right? 50:33 He is working on us most certainly. 50:34 He's working on all of us. 50:36 Yeah. 50:37 It took Him only those seven days, 50:41 six days to make the moon and the stars, 50:44 and the sun and the earth. 50:46 And I'm 50 and He's still working on me. 50:49 Amen. 50:50 He's still working on me 50:54 To make me what I ought to be 50:59 It took him just a week 51:01 To make the moon and the stars 51:04 The sun and the earth 51:06 And Jupiter and Mars 51:08 How loving and patient He must be 51:13 He's still workin' on me 51:17 There really ought to be 51:20 A sign upon my heart 51:22 Don't judge him yet 51:24 There's an unfinished part 51:26 But I'll be perfect 51:28 Just according to His plan 51:30 Fashioned By the Master's loving hands 51:35 He's still working on me 51:39 To make me what I ought to be It took him just a week 51:45 To make the moon and the stars 51:47 The sun and the earth And Jupiter and Mars 51:52 How loving and patient He must be 51:56 He's still workin' on me 52:02 In the mirror of His word 52:04 Reflections that I see 52:06 It makes me wonder Why He never gave up on me 52:10 But He loves me as I am 52:12 And helps me when I pray 52:15 Remember He's the potter I'm the clay 52:19 He's still working on me 52:23 To make me what I ought to be 52:28 It took him just a week To make the moon and the stars 52:32 The sun and the earth And Jupiter and Mars 52:36 How loving and patient He must be 52:40 He's still workin' on me 52:44 He's still working On me and you 52:48 To make me what I ought to be 52:51 It took him just a week 52:53 It took him just a week To make the moon and the stars 52:57 The sun and the earth And Jupiter and Mars 53:01 How loving and patient He must be 53:04 Oh, He's still workin' on me 53:09 Yes, He's still workin' on me 53:16 I remember I used to sing that song as a kid. 53:18 And I thought that was just a fun little song. 53:20 And the older I get, the more I'm like, 53:22 Lord, this is serious. 53:24 This is a real song. 53:26 This is not just a kid song. 53:28 Oh, you got that right, man. 53:29 Oh, my goodness, He is working on me. 53:31 And I am so grateful. 53:33 Thank You, Lord, that You are working on me. 53:35 Thank You. I'll second that. 53:36 Yeah, right. 53:38 I just want to, let's just do one more tune 53:40 and sing along with me if you want to. 53:42 Please do, I love it. 53:44 And so this is a song right out of Matthew 6:25-30. 53:49 Talking about why, asking why do we worry, 53:53 you know when we consider the lilies and the sparrow 53:56 and how God provides for them. 53:58 And this song is, is just sweet. 54:01 It's beautiful. 54:02 It's an old, it's another old song. 54:04 I've been singing a lot of Joel Hemphill songs. 54:07 And so, this is just a sweet one in. 54:13 This is something for you to consider. 54:15 Consider the lilies 54:19 They don't toil or spin 54:24 But there's not a king 54:28 With more splendor than them 54:33 Consider the sparrows 54:37 They don't plant nor sow 54:42 But they're fed by the Master 54:47 Who watches them grow 54:55 We have 54:57 A heavenly Father above 55:04 With eyes full of mercy 55:09 And a heart full of love 55:14 He really cares 55:17 When your head is bowed low 55:23 Consider the lilies 55:28 And then you will know 55:39 May I introduce you 55:44 To this friend of mine 55:48 Who hangs out the stars 55:52 And tells the sun when to shine 55:57 And he kisses the flowers 56:02 Each morning with dew 56:06 But He's never too busy 56:11 To care about you 56:16 We have 56:18 A heavenly Father above 56:25 With eyes full of mercy 56:30 And a heart full of love 56:35 He really cares 56:38 When your head is bowed low 56:44 Consider the lilies 56:49 And then you will know 56:56 Consider the lilies 57:01 And then 57:04 You will know. 57:18 Your heavenly Father watches over you. 57:19 He cares about you. 57:21 All He, He loves to hear you sing, 57:23 sing His praises. 57:24 So thank you for singing along with us. 57:26 We appreciate it. Come back another time. 57:28 We'll do this again. Ryan... 57:29 Let's do it again. Ryan Day, thank you. 57:31 I love you, Brother. Thanks a lot. 57:32 Good times. |
