01:00 Well, hello and welcome.
01:02 We're so happy that you could join us today. 01:04 And I have a very interesting couple 01:07 that I'm gonna introduce you to in just a few minutes. 01:10 And so you want to stay by 01:12 and be a part of this program today. 01:15 Before we get into this interview and discussion, 01:18 I want to read a little bit of a text to you. 01:22 It's the story of the "Parable of the Wicked Vine Dressers." 01:25 Now from time-to-time we've been looking 01:27 at these different parables that Jesus talked 01:30 and looking at the lessons that He gets from us. 01:33 Now this is a rather lengthy one. 01:35 I am not gonna read the whole thing to you. 01:37 You can find it in Mark and also in Matthew 01:40 and I'm gonna read Matthew 21, begins with verse 33. 01:45 It says, "Hear another parable, 01:46 "There was a certain landowner who planted a vineyard, 01:49 "and set a hedge around it, dug a winepress in it, 01:52 "and built a tower. 01:54 And he leased it to vinedressers and went into a far country." 01:59 Now if you remember this story, 02:01 you remember that when time came for them to have the harvest 02:06 and for the vinedressers to pay their part, 02:09 he sent a servant to collect, and the servant was killed. 02:14 He sent another. 02:16 The same happened. 02:17 So finally he said, I'll send my son, 02:18 and when he sent his son the same thing happened. 02:24 The son was killed. 02:26 And then it tells us here. 02:28 It says, "Therefore, it says, 02:31 "when the owner of the vineyard comes, 02:33 what will he do to those vinedressers?" 02:37 And they all said, well he will destroy them. 02:40 And Jesus answered and He says, 02:43 "Have you never read in the scriptures, verse 42, 02:47 "The stone which the builders rejected 02:49 "has become the chief cornerstone. 02:51 "And this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes. 02:55 "Therefore I say to you, 02:58 "the Kingdom of God will be taken from you, 03:01 "given to a nation, bearing the fruits of it. 03:04 "And whoever falls on this stone will be broken. 03:08 But on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder." 03:14 We need to fall on the Rock of Ages. 03:17 Fall on Jesus because He says if we fall on Him 03:22 we will be broken and we will receive life eternal, 03:27 very interesting parable. 03:30 And you can see that God says that the Kingdom 03:34 would be taken away from people who were simply Jewish by birth 03:40 and given to those who are Jewish by new birth, 03:44 which can be you, it can be a Jew, 03:47 it can be a Gentile, it can be anyone 03:50 who accepts Jesus Christ and receives Him 03:54 as their personal Savior, great parable, 03:58 lot of truth here, one that we need to study 04:01 a little more often than perhaps we do. 04:04 But He is waiting for us to receive Him 04:08 as our Lord, our God, our Savior. 04:12 Now today we want to have a little prayer before we begin. 04:15 So many people are writing to us and talking to us 04:18 about the challenges that they're facing, 04:21 marriage problems, financial problems 04:24 and particularly in the economy in which we find ourselves today 04:28 So whatever that problem is, you can bring it to God. 04:32 He can see you through it. 04:34 Health problems that we right now are praying 04:38 for several friends who has some real challenges 04:42 with their health and I know from personal testimony 04:47 that God can bring you through a health challenge. 04:51 And He'll do it I believe if you simply trust Him to do so. 04:57 He may use Medical Science as well 04:59 to bring about that healing, 05:01 but remember He is still the one that does the healing. 05:05 As a good friend of mine or doctor used to say to me, 05:09 God we do the treating but God does the healing. 05:13 And He is the only one who truly heals us. 05:17 So right now you bring 05:19 that which is your challenge to Him in prayer. 05:22 Join with me right now in prayer won't you, right where you are? 05:26 Father in Heaven, I thank you today 05:30 that we can come to You in prayer, 05:32 knowing Lord that You'll hear us and that You'll answer. 05:36 And Father I know that there are people 05:38 that are viewing this program today 05:40 on television, listening to us on radio 05:43 that really truly have challenges in their life 05:48 that they themselves cannot meet. 05:51 There are so many challenges we have Lord 05:53 that You have equipped this to meet 05:55 and You expect this to meet those challenges on our own. 05:59 But then there are those that come to us 06:02 that are totally outside of the scope 06:06 of our strength and we need You. 06:10 And it is these that we lay before You today Father. 06:14 We lay them before You, and we pray for Your healing, 06:21 for Your answer to each thing that we face 06:25 and we thank you for hearing us, in Jesus name. Amen. 06:32 Well right now before we begin our interview 06:35 I want us to enjoy some music. 06:37 And I'm going to find a real privilege to introduce 06:41 the Micheff Sisters and they're going to sing for us 06:44 "Reach Out to Jesus." 07:07 Is your burden heavy as you bear it all alone? 07:15 Does the road you travel harbor dangers yet unknown? 07:24 Are you growing weary in the struggle of it all? 07:32 Jesus will help you, when on His name you call. 07:43 Is the life you're living filled with sorrow and despair? 07:51 Does the future press you with its worries and its care? 08:00 Are you tired and friendless? 08:04 Have you almost lost your way? 08:09 Jesus will help you, just come to Him today. 08:17 He is always there hearing every prayer faithful and true 08:26 Walking by our side in His love we hide, all the day through. 08:34 When you get discouraged just remember what to do, 08:43 Reach out to Jesus, He's reaching out to you. 08:52 He is always there hearing every prayer faithful and true 09:00 Walking by our side in His love we hide, all the day through. 09:09 When you get discouraged just remember what to do, 09:17 Reach out to Jesus, Reach out to Jesus, 09:26 Reach out to Jesus, He's reaching out to you. 09:44 Well, I always enjoy hearing them sing. 09:47 They put their hearts into it 09:49 and everything they do they put their hearts into it. 09:52 They do such a tremendous job with the Children's Programs 09:56 and their Women's Ministry 09:58 that they out and do all over the country. 10:01 And folks some of you don't realize 10:03 they are totally volunteers. 10:06 They are not on salary. 10:08 Everything they do comes from their heart, 10:11 even their own expenses for coming here, 10:13 being a part of this ministry 10:16 and we appreciate so much the Micheff Sisters. 10:20 Now today our guests are Luke and Susan Skelton, 10:26 and they come to us from Phoenix, Arizona. 10:29 And they are a part of a television ministry 10:33 there called "Good News Television." 10:36 And Good News Television, 10:38 we have the honor of being associated together. 10:43 And they run a lot of our programming in that area 10:46 and we're so happy to welcome you here. 10:50 You know, I was just asking Luke before I've said, Luke, 10:53 are you related to Red Skelton? 10:55 And he said distant cousin. 10:56 And I said that's, that's good enough for me. 10:59 I will have to admit that Red Skelton 11:02 was one of my favorite television characters. 11:05 When I am a kid growing up, watching Red Skelton 11:09 I really enjoyed watching him in those days. 11:13 And there are so many things that I find that he has written 11:16 and things that he has done, 11:18 it shows what a multiple talented individual he was. 11:21 I've even seen some beautiful Art Work that he did. 11:25 And so he is, there is a lot of talent in the Skelton Family. 11:30 And so, now you are using your talent that God has given you 11:37 to spread this Gospel of the Kingdom around the world. 11:40 And you and Susan have made a tremendous team. 11:43 You are the Manager of 'Good News Television', 11:47 and Susan is the Programming Director, 11:51 a Programming Manager for 'Good News Television'. 11:54 Well, tell us a little bit about the background. 11:58 And maybe first let's talk about your background, 12:00 and how would you get into this? 12:03 Well, I guess it all started when you know, 12:05 Susan grew up Adventist. 12:07 But I didn't, I hadn't even heard of an Adventist 12:10 before I met Susan. Okay. 12:11 And we were both in school at Arizona State University, 12:16 Public University, getting our Engineering Degrees. 12:20 And I met Susan and we started studying together. 12:23 We were taking some of the same classes. 12:26 And long story short, you know, she invited me to church. 12:31 And she grew up in an Adventist Home, 12:34 I did not grew up actively going to church regularly, 12:39 but I was more than interested in joining her. 12:42 I thought it was a little strange 12:44 to go to church on Saturday. 12:45 Yeah. But I was offer. 12:47 But you do get it over with early on the weekend? 12:49 Yeah, that's true. 12:51 But it's, through that process you know, 12:54 I've learned that actually Adventists follow the Bible. 12:57 And that's I wanted to follow the truth, 13:00 and just continue to do that. 13:03 And so through that we got to know each other. 13:06 And we both became engineers and continue it in our career. 13:11 We got married of course. 13:12 And we slowly as the time went by, you know, 13:17 eight to ten years later we felt more and-more 13:20 of a burden that we wanted to serve the Lord. 13:22 And use our most productive hours to do so. 13:26 And of course that means you know, 13:28 doing something beside to the careers, 13:31 at least we were involved in. 13:33 And so didn't know exactly how that was gonna take place, 13:36 but that's you know, 13:40 the Lord just kind of moved from there, and... 13:46 So, were you got involved in the local church first? 13:50 Yeah, that's correct. 13:51 We were actively involved at, 13:55 in the Health Ministry at our church. 13:57 And because of that then we went to a Health Seminar 14:01 out in California, met Christian Berdahl, 14:04 who has been singing here several times, beautiful voice. 14:07 Right oh, he really does. He's very fine young man. 14:09 But he is also been very involved 14:12 in audio and video productions. 14:14 And when we went to California that was the thing 14:18 that he was responsible for was the AV, 14:21 the whole production of it, 14:22 and so one of the things that made it really impressive 14:25 was that he did such a great job. 14:27 And so I kind of, he helped me 14:31 kind of understand some of the background 14:32 what was going on in the background 14:34 and through that you know, I helped him setup cameras 14:39 and run the cabling and all that other stuff. 14:42 And then set back and watched you know, 14:45 what a good quality production, how to actually develop that 14:50 and when you'd have something you could take home 14:53 and share with your family and your friends 14:54 that we weren't able to be there, and so... 14:57 So now you mentioned that you were very interested 15:00 in Health Ministry and Health Message, 15:03 and Susan, how did that affect your life? 15:05 Well, I really wanted to do something 15:08 that's more service oriented 15:09 and so, I'm a paying a lot about it and decided that 15:12 I wanted to go back to school and become an RN. 15:14 And so I did that and we were still continued 15:18 to be actively involved in that church. 15:19 And we invited Dr. Neil Nedley to come out to our church, 15:24 and Luke wanted to do a similar thing 15:27 with video recording the seminar 15:30 and so he pretty much started a Video Ministry 15:35 at the Camelback Church, 15:37 so learned more through that. 15:38 Then kind of our next step of how the Lord was leading 15:40 as we went to the ASI Convention in 2004, 15:45 and we've heard about Amazing Facts Center for Evangelism, 15:48 a couple of years before 15:49 and we really peeked our interest 15:50 and we got to speak to some people there 15:52 and that's where we made our decision we were convicted that, 15:55 yes we wanted to go and learn 15:56 how to be more effective witnesses, 15:58 to be able to say the Bible with people, 16:00 help people make decisions for Christ. 16:02 Where was that ASI Convention? 16:03 And that was in... Sacramento? 16:05 I think it was in Cincinnati. I think it was. 16:07 Oh, Cincinnati, all right. 16:08 Because we have been to so many of them we just think ASI, 16:10 I think it was that one. Yes. 16:12 And as well Luke spent a lot of time at the 3ABN Booth, 16:16 the Radio Ministry Booth and there was just something 16:19 inside of us that strongly had an interest in that. 16:22 We didn't know how it would be used, 16:23 but it was an interest place even in 2004. 16:27 And so we did go to Amazing Facts 16:29 College of Evangelism which was amazing. 16:30 It was a field school in Silver Spring, Maryland 16:33 where the prophecy code was down linked all over to the world. 16:37 Uplink, downlink all over the world where Doug Batchelor 16:41 preached that Revelation Seminar we got to be involved 16:44 and we got to be involved in some of the behind the scenes 16:47 a part of that and while we were there at AFCOE 16:50 Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism. 16:53 Our Pastor Charles White at our Home Church, 16:56 Camelback Seventh-day Adventist Church, 16:59 sent us a weekly newsletter that said that exciting news 17:04 that within in about a year, it is written he was going 17:08 to come with Shawn Boonstra 17:09 and do the Satellite Net Meetings, 17:13 Revelation Seminar from Phoenix. Yes. 17:15 So we knew that this was going to be our next step 17:18 we had to be involved, and so... 17:22 Now we talk about Charlie White, the Pastor. Yes. 17:25 Now he is a descendent of Ellen White. 17:26 Yes, he is. And very fine man. 17:29 We love him so much. 17:30 We've enjoyed getting acquainted with him 17:31 when we were out there this past year, 17:33 and his wife Dianne. 17:35 And so now, you're getting involved with Shawn Boonstra 17:38 and it is written in that big meeting that 17:41 they held there in Phoenix, and what happens? 17:44 Well, I have an opportunity to kind of work backstage. 17:47 You know when I was, 17:48 when we went through AFCOE, I kind of got behind the scenes 17:52 view of the production you know, 17:54 how everything went on and the switching 17:57 and the camera setups and everything else. 17:59 But then when we went to, 18:02 when we were helping out there in Phoenix with, 18:04 'It Is Written' programs, I was, 18:07 I guess responsible as a Stage Manager you know, 18:09 behind the stage to help people 18:11 as they were going out on the stage, 18:13 make sure their microphone was setup 18:14 and make sure their tie was straight 18:16 and all the important stuff. 18:18 And through that you know, 18:19 again kind of a little different angle of what happens 18:22 behind the scenes, 18:24 have been preparation for what we are doing today. 18:27 And then after that Susan and I, 18:32 the Arizona Conference wanted us to continue as Bible workers 18:36 there and to follow up with the contacts. 18:40 And as we continue to do that then the next step was 18:43 that Gabriel Miro, yes, kind of entered the picture 18:46 from our perspective anyway, who is already involved, 18:49 but that's when we connected and we, 18:53 I was able to have a privilege of helping him 18:56 Broadcast our Camp Meeting from Prescott, Arizona 19:01 for the first time, and so... 19:03 Now what year was that? Let's see that would... 19:05 2005 or so? Sure 2008. 19:07 2008? Okay. 19:08 And Gabe by the way, he has almost about 30 years 19:12 of experience in all kind of different television networks 19:15 and he is retired now. 19:17 And all kinds of equipment. Yeah. 19:18 That's right. He's got a SatelliteTech, 19:20 yeah, and all type of equipments yeah. 19:21 Which we have been utilizing. Right. 19:24 Well, so you got involved with that Camp Meeting at Prescott, 19:28 which is a beautiful place 19:30 and I had the privilege of being there this past year 19:34 and enjoyed that very much, but so you uplink in 2008, 19:39 and then what happened with the conference. 19:41 They got, they started getting involved 19:44 or thinking about some television. 19:46 Yeah, exactly that you know, 19:48 perhaps kind of stimulated interested in the conference 19:52 in ours as well is the idea of doing television. 19:56 But you know, I had no thought 19:59 that we would ever be able to do television in Phoenix. 20:02 You know, maybe an hour here and an hour there, yeah. 20:04 But the introduction of the analog 20:06 to digital conversion really opened up a big window 20:09 which is available for anyone 20:11 really today within North America, 20:14 and that is that Gabe actually got contacted 20:19 by one of the local TV Stations, with an interest 20:22 and wanting to, they appreciated the Adventists Programming 20:27 and they wanted to build on the reputation they already had. 20:32 Right. 20:33 And to do so, they were interested 20:36 in partnering with the Adventist Church, 20:38 to take and lease one of their channels 20:43 into broadcast 24-hours a day, 20:45 seven days a week Adventist Programming, 20:48 which that just seemed to Susan and I, 20:52 it seems we heard about that, 20:54 to be something that just had to happen. 20:59 because our contract as Bible workers 21:01 for the conference was gonna be ending in December of 2008, 21:04 and then this, we start to hearing about this 21:07 and of course Lord already put the passion 21:08 in our hearts bout TV Ministries 21:10 and we just learned so much over the years 21:11 and spiritually growing through 3ABN and the programming. 21:14 So we just felt this has to happen. 21:17 You know, Arizona has had such great leadership in Evangelism, 21:21 Duane McKey, who has now gone on to the Southwestern Union. 21:27 But Tony Anobile, Kent Sharpe, these fellows love the Lord. 21:33 They wanted to get the message out. 21:35 And they are pioneers you might say, 21:37 in this type of ministry. Amen. 21:40 So you made a deal, 21:41 they made a deal and leased a channel. 21:45 Yeah, Tony Anobile and Kent Sharpe 21:47 were really excited about the opportunity. 21:49 But because of the fact that the economy was continuing to, 21:52 you know it's down way track, it just didn't seem possible. 21:57 But the interesting thing of the way that Tony puts is that, 22:01 it was as if you know, 22:03 the circumstances seemed to keep closing the door. 22:06 But the Lord just keep seems to fling 22:09 the doors open because the TV Channel, 22:13 the TV Station actually kept coming back 22:16 to the Arizona Conference pursuing us to try to establish 22:20 this relationship to actually broadcast. 22:22 I think they started off at a very higher range 22:25 and then they kept lowering it because as you, 22:28 as you said no they kept moving down. 22:31 Kent was calling me during those days 22:33 and we were talking quite a bit together 22:35 and I just think the Lord really has lead in this arrangement. 22:40 And who knows what could happen out there in the future 22:43 because a lot of other stations are gonna be opening up 22:47 in that particular area. 22:48 And by the way folks there might be stations 22:50 opening up in your area, 22:52 so you, if you have any questions about that, 22:55 you call 3ABN talk to engineering 22:58 and they will help you to see, 23:01 if there might be something available in your area. 23:04 We'll talk to you more about it later as well, 23:07 but I just want to drop that in there. 23:09 All right, so now you're negotiating 23:13 and finally have a channel, but having a channel 23:16 you're still gonna put some programming on it. 23:18 And so what happens next? 23:20 Well you know, 23:22 it's kind of a unique situation 23:23 and we really appreciate 3ABN's flexibility 23:27 and willingness to work with us in this what we, 23:30 I would think is somewhat unique in that. 23:32 We're using, vast majority of our programming is 3ABN 23:35 but we're also incorporating some programming from Hope 23:39 and Loma Linda Broadcasting 23:41 as well as other Media Ministries 23:44 and the Local Programming as well. 23:46 And it's really created kind of a unique blend 23:50 I guess, of a way to connect with our viewers in Arizona. 23:54 And so beyond that it's just been, 23:58 I guess miraculous how the Lord has lead. 24:02 One of the miracle I wanted to mention as well 24:04 as you know we have a very large Spanish speaking population 24:07 enough in these areas 24:09 and so while we were negotiating we just go, 24:11 oh wow, wouldn't it be wonderful to see Spanish channels well, 24:13 but it just seem like how could that be possible right now, 24:17 you know, and maybe as the Lord leads 24:18 and grows the channel 24:20 maybe a little bit further down on the line. 24:21 But around the same time we had a friend that was approached 24:25 by another Adventist TV Ministry that was looking for channel 24:28 or even a station maybe to buy in the Phoenix area. 24:31 And so through the miraculous working of the Lord 24:33 we went on the air at the very same time. 24:35 We shared, Arizona Conference shared 24:38 the startup equipment with the ministry 24:40 so that we could have Spanish Channel go on 24:42 at the very same time and through a series of events 24:44 that channel has now come also, 24:46 way before we thought that it would be possible 24:49 under the auspices of the Arizona Conference as well 24:51 and it's called "Mas Alla Del Sol TV" 24:53 or "Mass TV" far beyond the Sun TV 24:55 and so it is really amazing working together. 24:58 Isn't that great? Fantastic, so amazing how the Lord leads, 25:02 isn't it? Amen. 25:03 And I just again appreciate 25:05 the faith of the Arizona Conference, 25:08 and the leadership and the membership, 25:11 because the membership has supported the leadership 25:14 and these decisions. That's right. 25:16 So now you've got two channels 25:18 and you're ready to go, what happens next? 25:22 Well, there is certainly, as you mentioned, 25:25 it is requiring involvement from the members 25:29 because the conference is fully behind it 25:31 and has signed in faith 25:33 that to go forward with these channels, 25:37 but it is a viewer supported ministry you know, 25:41 and so there is no budget for it, 25:43 but the Lord is providing and that's been amazing. 25:47 But so when we first broadcast I can remember, 25:50 Gabe was on one end 25:52 and I was on the other end of the, 25:54 you know, the stream, the video stream 25:57 and I remember the first broadcast 25:59 that we had was 3ABN Kids Time Praise Program, 26:03 special like a homecoming special program. 26:07 I remember the first girl 26:08 that was singing her heart out was four-year-old. 26:13 She was sitting at the piano with legs hanging off the bench, 26:18 singing out "Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us," 26:22 and that just really touched my heart 26:25 because the Lord had been leading us step-by-step. Yeah. 26:28 And literally drop to my knees in praise 26:31 and prayer to God for what He had done 26:33 and to thank that we were actually broadcasting 26:36 throughout all of Phoenix, 26:38 you know, about the love of Jesus 26:40 and The Three Angels Message. 26:43 Well, tell us a little bit about some of those volunteers 26:45 because they have really been 26:49 a part of making this thing work. 26:51 Amen. 26:52 Well, there has been volunteers everything from helping us 26:56 behind the cameras, 26:58 in front of the cameras, and what else Susan? 27:03 We have three fulltime volunteers right now, 27:06 and that's Gabe, Luke, and myself and we cannot do, 27:11 and there is just myriads of volunteers 27:15 from Camera Operators, Antenna TV Installers, 27:18 to Prayer Warriors following up on Bible studies 27:20 and phone calls and just so, so, so many volunteers. 27:27 It's a tremendous way to get people involved. 27:29 Of course, the people at the conference, 27:30 yes the Kent Sharpe, and we have one gentleman 27:33 that I'd like to highlight is Jeremy Huss. 27:36 He just graduated from Thunderbird Academy. 27:38 Our station is located in a building 27:40 on a Thunderbird Academy Campus. 27:42 So it's been wonderful to be able 27:43 to partner with the academy students. 27:45 And he graduated last year, 27:47 but he's almost a fulltime volunteer anywhere from camera, 27:51 directing a local productions, or setting up tearing down, 27:54 representing us at promotional events. 27:58 It's just such a blessing to the young people 27:59 and to be part of it as well. 28:01 I met Jeremy at Camp Meeting. 28:02 Yes, he did. 28:03 And he really has got his heart in this, 100 percent. 28:07 That's right. 28:09 And it's really exciting to see people get involved. 28:11 You know, if you want to do something 28:13 with your young people get them involved. Amen. 28:16 You don't, they don't want to sit back and be entertained. 28:21 They want to work and they want be far to the team. 28:23 We have found this over the years so many times, 28:27 if you keep them active 28:29 they will remain a part of God's work. 28:32 Well, so you've, now you own a television 28:36 and now you start to really sort of connect with the churches. 28:40 Tell us about some of those connections. 28:42 Sure, well one of our objectives 28:44 or main objectives is that we wanna like you say connect, 28:47 the viewers with our local churches. 28:50 And the way, one way that we were doing that 28:53 is that we were doing local broadcasts 28:56 of the church worship services of some musical programs 29:01 and even some Evangelistic programs 29:03 that some Bible prophecies seminars and so forth. 29:06 I think we have some video of that. 29:08 Do you? You have some. 29:09 We'd like to look at that. 29:11 So, why don't we take that right now? 29:13 And this is Jeremy who we are talking about, 29:16 and get setup for a worship service here. 29:19 Yeah. And he is, so he's setting up 29:21 and then you'll see a couple of different angles. 29:24 Jeremy you know, 29:25 as we said he has been behind the scenes. 29:28 He does a lot of the work 29:29 and now there is Gabe pulling up with his satellite truck. 29:32 Yeah. And setting everything up 29:34 and basically preparing to do a live broadcast 29:37 from one of our church worship services. 29:39 And then you see Gabe is coming up here 29:43 of these behind the scenes. 29:45 He's setting up the satellite 29:47 and we're ready to go on air basically. 29:49 And so that's kind of what's going on 29:53 behind the scenes. 29:54 Right, and I am amazed that the way the equipment has come, 30:02 Gabe's had some real miracles 30:04 in securing some of that equipment. 30:06 That's right. Yeah. 30:08 And I don't know if you can even share some of those 30:10 or not because it might be something 30:14 that you doesn't want to share, 30:15 but some of the stations he's been with before have made 30:19 equipment available to him at a very reasonable price. 30:23 We all part of God's plan. 30:25 Yeah, it really is. 30:26 One of the local productions were very mostly excited 30:29 about this last summer was when we get to partner 30:32 with the ASI Youth for Jesus Program they came to Phoenix 30:35 and had around different Revelation seminars 30:37 at different churches. 30:38 You know, it's just a wonderful way. 30:39 This ministry has provided so many ways for people 30:41 to become active in ministry, the lay people. 30:43 And the combination of the Evangelist series, 30:47 well actually we broadcast it live 30:50 from the Camelback Church every night. 30:52 And in fact one of the testimonies 30:54 that I have is from the viewer that after the fact when told me 30:57 that when she start to watching 30:59 in first pace was when she was watching this broadcast series 31:02 and she saw 17 year old Audrey Siler, 31:04 one of the youth for Jesus kids preaching. Yes. 31:07 And she just couldn't get enough. 31:08 She said wow! Look at this, 31:10 we call preaching. 31:11 And she says she has been on Good News TV ever since 31:13 she is in our house. 31:14 She even sleeps there. 31:16 Isn't that something? 31:17 And this woman is just so gracious. 31:18 She has given up personal interment 31:20 so that she can help support on a monthly basis to Good News TV. 31:23 And she is attending 31:24 more local average churches near her and so. Yeah. 31:27 But anyways the combination was a baptism morality 31:29 that we had the wonderful pleasure of you and C.A. 31:33 and 3ABN coming to our church and hosting that. 31:36 And you broadcasted on 3ABN 31:38 and were, gracious to just let us 31:41 use camera for Good News TV. 31:43 We had a real good time there. 31:45 We really did. 31:46 That was a beautiful night. It was. 31:49 And I will never forget that night as long as I live. 31:52 The testimonies of those young people 31:54 and I've been involved with Youth for Jesus 31:56 on several occasions we had him in Dallas 31:58 when I was pastoring there the year before. 32:01 And so we were just really excited 32:06 to see some of those kids again 32:07 and to see how the Lord is using them. 32:11 And it's just; it's just a very beautiful program. 32:14 Here are those testimonies. 32:17 Leroy Green and, that's right, and we had him here 32:22 and talk about history. Yeah. 32:24 And so, we were really impressed. 32:28 Well and C.A. 32:30 and I had a good time that night. 32:32 We got caught little off. 32:35 We discovered a hidden talent that CA has. 32:38 And I don't think he'll let us show that, but... 32:41 Let us show. Cut it 32:43 That's right. 32:44 Yeah, that's one of the advantages 32:46 of being the producers. 32:47 C.A. says nope that's not going out of here. 32:49 We will just tell the viewers he has a wonderful hidden talent 32:52 being able to balance on microphone. That's right. 32:53 And I think you are on the air. 32:55 You were on the air, I'm combing my head 32:57 and C.A. is balancing... It was great. 33:00 That's the microphone and it was, 33:04 it was live TV. That's right. 33:06 You don't realize you're actually on the air. 33:08 But we had such a great time. 33:10 And those kids that night, 33:12 it was like Pentecost. That's right. 33:14 It was a fantastic night. Well, what's next? 33:18 Since then we've been doing a lot of devotional spots 33:20 and promo spots 33:22 something between programs of local pastors, 33:23 so that our local community can get to know our pastors 33:26 and some of the seminars 33:28 and things that are going on in the valley, 33:31 and I think we have some pictures 33:32 of some personalities from 3ABN that graciously came 33:36 and show how we have partnership with Good News TV. 33:40 This is Doug Batchelor, talking about Good News TV. 33:46 Then we have, who else do we have? 33:48 Who else do we have? 33:49 Let's see. All right. 33:50 Miss Brenda! You recognize Brenda? 33:52 That's right. Popular personality. 33:54 That's right. She really is. 33:55 Right. And then we have Steve Wohlberg. 33:57 Steve Wohlberg, yeah. His programs. 33:59 Told a little bit about his background 34:01 and we really appreciate him. Right. 34:04 This is our local pastor, Pastor White. 34:06 Yeah. That's right. 34:07 A little promotion 34:08 and encouraging people to come to the church 34:10 and many of the pastors did similar to Pastor White. 34:14 There is a variety of different people 34:17 that were spotlighting on the hour basically, 34:19 so that people can not only connect with our channel, 34:23 and not only connect with what's going on in the church, 34:26 but actually connect also with the pastors. 34:29 And to realize that because maybe 34:34 Doug Batchelor is talking about Good News TV 34:38 and providing us with feedback that although 34:40 he is in another State in Sacramento, California 34:43 that there is a local connection 34:45 you know, with the personalities on Good News TV 34:47 and so that's really helped us kind of a built 34:50 that relationship with our viewers. 34:52 We're also, go ahead. Go ahead. 34:53 We are also doing, 34:55 we're excited about some local productions right now. 34:57 We have one at the Thunderbird Academy, 34:59 is doing the skit towards youth but the adults love it too. 35:02 It's called Understanding the Bible, 35:03 its relevant topics on the Bible, 35:06 the Bible for today's youth that is there are students 35:09 that hosted along with the history teacher. 35:11 It's a calling show. 35:12 We also have another life calling show 35:14 that's called "Praying In The Sabbath," 35:16 and so it's different. 35:17 Pastors that hosted on a weekly basis 35:19 and talked about the importance of prayer in your life 35:20 and you can call and pray with the viewers. 35:23 And then also our Central Church is doing a production 35:25 called "Spotlight On Arizona," 35:27 which basically gives good wonderful tips 35:30 for a Phoenix community and how to live better lives 35:32 and it's also becoming a testimonial 35:34 so to about different Local Ministries 35:36 and Adventist Ministries in the valley. 35:38 I think your involvement with young people, 35:41 you mentioned Thunderbird Academy 35:43 and I think we've got some images of the young people 35:47 working on both sides of the camera. Yeah. 35:49 And.... Sure. This is the, 35:51 Understanding the Sabbath, 35:52 "Understanding The Bible Today," show. 35:55 This all run by young people, the camera people. 35:57 That is behind the scenes. 35:59 The directors' and all the young people, 36:00 there is the control room, 36:01 and all the young people working in the background 36:04 and this is another young person 36:06 actually doing her testimony on the Campus there 36:10 at the Thunderbird Academy. 36:11 We have some of those and so there's been a variety of ways 36:14 that we've tried to connect with the students there 36:18 and to get them involved. 36:20 And so they get involved in production 36:23 and every aspect of television ministry. 36:27 This is tremendous training. 36:29 By the way, some of you young people don't forget 3ABN, 36:34 we enjoy have you come out and volunteer, 36:37 I mean run a lot out here 36:38 and who knows maybe someday 36:40 even be a part of our fulltime staff. 36:43 Now, you've had some experiences at the Fair, 36:47 the State Fair, tell us about those. Yeah. 36:50 Well and we have an image on that, 36:52 but basically what we've been doing is every year 36:55 we'll go out to the State Fair as a Health Booth. 36:58 And then this year is the first year 36:59 when they partnered with us, Right Arm of Love Ministry, 37:04 actually partnered with us, Good News TV 37:06 and so they took people's blood pressure and cholesterol, 37:09 well we told people how to get our Good News TV Channel. Okay. 37:14 So it was kind a good partnership between 37:16 the Health Ministry, sure, 37:17 and our medium Ministry to work together 37:20 to help everyone to know better the love of Jesus. 37:24 Right, that's right. 37:26 And you're actually now started to get feedback 37:28 from some of the viewers. 37:31 Is that correct 37:32 It's so amazing. 37:33 We just praise God for every single testimony. 37:35 We were doing a live broadcast at one of the local churches 37:37 and a lovely lady named Kim came up to us 37:39 and asked us if she could share her testimony 37:41 of how the programming on Good News TV 37:43 played an influential role in her 37:47 and her other 13 year old daughter Che, 37:48 to become baptized, to make a decision to become baptized. 37:53 When she started attending a church, 37:55 attending church, 37:56 but at the very beginning 37:58 she just didn't really understand all of the teachings. 38:02 She believed in the Sabbath, 38:05 but just probably wasn't able to maybe give a reason 38:07 you know, a reason for her faith. 38:09 There seem to have validity to it, 38:12 but she was just praying 38:14 for more knowledge and wisdom for her 38:15 and her daughter especially at an impressionable age 38:18 to be able to understand these things. 38:19 And God answered her prayers. 38:21 She said she got a fly-off for Good News TV 38:24 and although she wasn't able to get it on the TV 38:27 because she didn't have an antenna, 38:28 she started watching it on the internet. 38:30 And her daughter and her just loved it. 38:32 They said they always had it on. 38:34 She would come home from school and say, 38:36 can we watch it tonight? Can we watch it tonight? 38:38 And through that in this manner 38:40 she was able to quickly get the knowledge and wisdom 38:43 and understanding from the Bible that they have been praying for 38:46 and through that and studying with Pastor Gibson, 38:49 her pastor who is actually a board member of Good News TV 38:52 as well and nurturing church family. 38:54 They decided to get baptized in October. 38:57 And they both sent their special greetings to 3ABN 39:01 and to you Jim to say. Okay. 39:02 I thank you so much for wonderful program 39:05 that really helped them grow spiritually, 39:07 very quickly in the last year. Amen. 39:09 That's what this television ministry 39:10 is all about. 39:12 And it's reaching people. 39:13 We can reach people by the hundreds, 39:16 by the thousands perhaps even by the millions, in their home. 39:23 Going behind close doors, yeah absolutely, 39:26 and getting acquainted 39:27 and then later on we get acquainted with them actually 39:30 because they come out and we meet them at churches 39:33 or see them there or they become. 39:35 We go to a church and find they've already 39:37 become a part of that particular church. 39:40 It's the most thrilling thing I ever been involved with, 39:43 and I know you can probably say the very same thing. 39:45 Absolutely! Kim is now 39:47 on the Director of the Children's Choir 39:48 and orchestra at the church 39:50 and Che actually shares her faith 39:52 at her public school now. 39:54 Wow! It's amazing. 39:55 And another one of our viewers started watching 3ABN 39:57 many, many years ago in Washington 39:59 and since then came and moved to Arizona 40:02 and him and his wife were actually 40:04 serving the channels during the analog digital conversion 40:07 They came across Good News TV and were fascinated 40:09 by the lifestyle and Health Programs. Yeah. 40:11 Well, then they started watching shows 40:13 on different topics and the amazing, 40:14 on different Bible topics, and the amazing thing is that 40:18 this gentleman has retired now, 40:20 but he is a Minister of the Gospel 40:22 in the Pentecostal Church for 50 years. 40:24 Wow! And basically as he listen 40:27 Bible text would count to some of the teachings on the TV, 40:31 Bible texts would come into his mind that seem 40:33 to on the surface conflict with what he knew. 40:36 But he said it was like as the Lord was reading his mind 40:39 because just a few seconds later 40:41 the speakers would basically clarify 40:43 and just explained what his questions were, 40:47 so that he was convicted on the Sabbath, 40:50 the Second Coming, what happens when we die 40:53 and all these things he said that has changed his views. 40:55 And later on his own personal studies, 40:57 basically he said that you know, Lord would show him 41:00 and be enforce the things that he learned on Good News TV. 41:02 And they're now worshiping at their local 41:04 Seventh-day Adventist Church becomes friends 41:06 with Pastor Darnel who at Pastor Ed's request 41:11 had given him one of thick book on what Adventists believe. 41:14 He read it all in a week and said that there is nothing, 41:16 he is determined there is nothing that 41:18 he could disagree with. 41:19 And he has asked the pastor how he can go 41:21 about changing his credentials to the Adventist faith. 41:26 That's tremendous story. And so they're 41:27 very strong supporters, the pastor and his wife 41:30 and we're just very excited for them. 41:31 Their pray is that many people will be reached in Arizona, 41:34 the good news of the Gospel. 41:36 Wow! So when you get this feedback 41:38 from these viewers it helps you to know 41:41 that they are watching. Amen. 41:42 Then they show up at church, they get involve, 41:46 and just already starting to see fruit of, 41:50 absolutely, of what's taking. 41:51 In fact one of our viewers, he not only called in, 41:54 but then as the relationship built, 41:57 Susan asked him, if you would actually come 41:59 and videotape a testimony. Okay. 42:01 And so he came to our studio and actually Sally do this well 42:05 that Susan talked about earlier, but we have a video clip 42:08 on a brief amount of his testimony you know what, 42:13 what he learned from the channel? 42:15 He had only watched it for a month when he.... 42:16 And never heard of Adventist before. 42:18 Really? Never heard about Adventist before. 42:20 Really! Well let's watch that. Yeah. 42:24 I'm Joseph Colecchio. 42:28 I'm a Corrections Officer at the Ladies Penitentiary 42:32 out in Good News, Arizona. 42:34 I've learned many good things about the Lord 42:37 and things that are in the Bible, 42:38 but I didn't realize until I watched the channel 42:41 and it was pointed out to me. 42:43 Such things as the Sabbath being on Saturday not Sunday 42:48 as everyone who is in Christianity 42:51 brought up in Christianity 42:53 was thought to believe us on Sunday, 42:54 but until you read the Bible and you get the proof from it. 42:58 It was never changed in the Old Testament 43:01 not by the Lord Jesus, not by anyone. 43:04 It's just doctrine of man as we came down 43:07 through the centuries I've learned that. 43:10 Another thing pointed out to me, which is another thing 43:13 I read through the scriptures which are taught through 43:17 traditional Christianity when you die you go to heaven. 43:21 And it doesn't say that. 43:23 It's all through the Bible and from it's all through 43:26 the Old Testament and the New Testament, 43:28 fallen to asleep and then you're raised up 43:31 with the living the dead and Christ 43:34 and the living will be raised up when He comes back. 43:39 Well, I was raised a Catholic. 43:45 If come the word is my conviction 43:46 that you cannot talk to a man and have you forgive your sins. 43:54 Another thing I learned by watching Good News TV 43:57 is about baptism and how immersion 44:00 is the biblical way to be correctly baptized. 44:03 When Christ was baptized by John the Baptist in the River Jordan, 44:07 he was fully immersed. He went down and He came up. 44:11 He was like reborn. 44:13 The Holy Spirit came down on Him as He came up out of the water, 44:17 and that's just one example of all throughout the Bible 44:21 that baptism is done by immersion. 44:25 I was not baptized by immersion. 44:27 The only baptism I ever had when I was a baby 44:30 in the Catholic Church, you know, 44:31 where the priest does this little... 44:35 So I would like to be baptized by immersion. 44:41 I did ask for address of the closet 44:45 Seventh-day Adventist Church to me, and... 44:49 It's an excellent, 44:50 excellent Christian programming channel. 44:54 I mean I watched the other big channels, 44:56 but I really got meaning out of this channel. 45:00 I mean I researched like the pastors said, 45:04 look you know don't take my word for it. 45:06 Look in the Bible for it and I did, 45:08 and they were right. 45:10 There is no where in the Bible, anywhere words says 45:14 changed the Sabbath to the first day of the week. 45:17 I think it would be great if it could be expanded 45:21 throughout the whole state of Arizona 45:24 for more and more people get the good word, 45:27 the good news of this channel. And that's pretty much it. 45:33 I just hope everyone supports this channel. 45:39 It's good work. 45:40 It's definitely sanctioned by the Lord, this much I know. 45:46 Well, that's quite a story that Jo had. 45:49 I really, really appreciate his testimony. 45:51 Now, there is another Jo, Mary Jo. 45:54 Tell me a little bit about her. 45:56 That's right, some of my very favorite, 45:57 favorite testimonies come at 3 O' clock in the morning. 45:59 I have the privilege of being able to talk 46:02 to even three in the morning and answer prayer requests 46:05 and pass along the prayer requests 46:07 where prayer was, and Mary Jo was such a one 46:09 and she called in the middle of the night just anxious 46:11 and depressed and we talked 46:13 and prayed together. So let me, let me clarify this. 46:15 You mean you keep the phone by our bed. 46:17 Very much. And so... 46:20 I don't want to miss the call. Right. 46:22 We had it at the station originally 46:24 and that seem like the best option but Susan, 46:27 you know, she is just really good 46:29 at connecting with people. Right. 46:30 And I've really appreciated that and Susan you can tell 46:33 that she is really bubbly about you know, 46:36 sharing but so we decided to move the phone 46:40 from the station to our own home. 46:42 You didn't want to get a recording. 46:43 You wanted a live voice there. That's right. Absolutely. 46:45 And so you say, oh, hello. Are you quick at waking up? 46:50 I am. Okay, good. 46:51 And especially when people are telling 46:53 us how much, I hear this often, my eyes have been opened. 46:57 The Lord has led me to your channel. 46:58 The veil has been lifted. Oh, man. 47:01 But anyways as a result of our conversation 47:04 and watching Good News TV, she went to on depression 47:08 the way out with Dr. Nedley summoned, 47:10 at local Church and it just so happened. 47:11 It was just right near her. 47:13 She really enjoyed and connected with the people 47:16 and after few more weeks she called up and said, 47:18 Susan after 53 years of watching she says 47:21 I can recognize the truth. This is the truth. 47:23 I want to be part of the church family. Yeah. 47:25 Can we study for baptism? 47:27 So we started saying the Bible together 47:29 and she is looking forward baptism of her real soon. 47:32 Isn't that true? And these are the calls 47:33 at the middle of the night that people are realizing 47:35 the need of a Savior, praying for forgiveness of sin 47:39 to Christ it's just there is nothing like it, 47:42 nothing like it. 47:43 No, there really isn't, because they really in need. 47:46 If they'll call you in the middle of the night 47:48 there is a real need there. 47:49 It's right. Amen. Yeah. It's amazing. 47:51 So more stories and this is what keeps you really going 47:55 with this, isn't it? Yeah. I just want to share 47:56 one more story. Yeah. Let's hear it. 47:58 I'm sorry. Let's go for another. 48:00 This gentleman called he said, he was paralyzed 48:02 on the couch watching the Shawn Boonstra, 48:04 A Revelation Seminar and he called and he says 48:07 I need more information. 48:08 I think the one that he saw, he just saw the one 48:09 and I think it was the Mark of a Beast and I said, 48:11 oh this is one of maybe 20 or 24 I said, 48:14 probably want to watch the beginning ones, right. 48:16 He said, yes how can I get my hands on it? 48:18 So we loaned him the whole set, which he watched, 48:21 the whole set within two weeks. 48:23 Wow! And he said this message has to go out. 48:25 He says this is amazing. 48:27 So he translated in Spanish, they asked his pastor who is, 48:31 he goes to a Church of Nazarene, 48:33 Spanish Church of Nazarene Church, 48:34 he asked his pastor there 48:36 if he could share the information. 48:37 The pastor took a couple of weeks to view and said, 48:39 this message has to go out. It's excellent. 48:41 So on Wednesday nights now he actually preaches 48:43 what he has learned from the seminar 48:46 in Spanish at his church. That's exciting. 48:49 It's amazing how people have been learning 48:50 more and more about the character of God 48:52 and Bible truth. Yeah. 48:54 Through wonderful programming 3ABN has and just amazing. 48:57 Well, what about the future now for this ministry? 49:01 Tell us a little bit about, what are the plans? 49:03 Well, a lot of plans and you know, 49:06 it's obviously all depending on the Lord's timing 49:09 and cattle on the hills that He has, 49:13 but one important way that I think it's clear 49:16 that we've been trying to 49:19 not only reach out to our community, 49:21 but we also want to continue to reach 49:23 and connect with our youth you know, 49:26 and being on the Campus of Thunderbird Academy 49:28 has been a real blessing. 49:30 And one thing that we would like to be able to do in the future 49:34 is to be able to offer elective curriculum 49:37 in the areas of production and broadcasting 49:39 for these high school kids. Yes. 49:42 So that they can learn some of the skills 49:44 that we're already teaching them, 49:46 but they can learn the technical details 49:48 of and learn how to take a camera out in the field 49:51 and get some good footage and then comeback 49:54 and actually do the editing right there on the computer 49:57 and develop their own you know, little productions. Sure. 50:02 And then they take that and either go to their church 50:06 and work in ministry there at the church. 50:09 They can work you know, in the industry. 50:12 Perhaps they can come and visit you here at 3ABN. 50:16 But anyway that's one area that we definitely want 50:19 to continue to foster and develop that partnership 50:24 with the Thunderbird Academy and with the youth 50:26 there in the Phoenix Community. Right, and then your expansion. 50:31 I think you've got some expansion plans, ah. 50:33 Yeah, we have been in touch with your own Dan Peek. Yes. 50:37 He helped us to identify some areas 50:40 and rural communities throughout Arizona 50:44 that we have applied for FCC licenses 50:47 to be able to get a frequency in those communities 50:52 and we haven't got replies back from FCC, 50:55 but we're waiting that and so if the Lord provides 50:58 and the churches local to those communities 51:00 become interest and excited, what we are hoping to do 51:03 is actually send the same video signals 51:06 from that are currently going in Phoenix 51:09 up to these other areas, so that they can also enjoy 51:12 the benefits and share with their own communities. 51:15 And so that's one hope and then we're also you know, 51:19 even gonna investigate with Tucson, 51:22 which is a major Metropolitan area. Yes. 51:25 And perhaps Phoenix as well, when those windows 51:28 come available, so that we'll have those options 51:31 and we'll be able to even move into Tucson well. 51:34 Yeah, and they are opening up as I understand, 51:37 the major Metropolitan areas are opening up. 51:41 So those are couple of your visions 51:44 that you have for the future, what others do you have? 51:47 Well, one thing that we have been continuing to do 51:50 as we mentioned towards the beginning 51:52 is we want our programming, 51:55 we so value of the programming from 3ABN, 51:59 and in addition to that though we also are trying to build up 52:04 our ability to be able to do local productions 52:07 such as Church Worship Services and Evangelistic Programs, 52:12 Prophecy Seminars and Music Program 52:16 so forth in our local community. 52:18 One of the challenges that we've had though 52:20 is although we've appreciated being able to use 52:24 Gabe's equipment it's in high demand. 52:26 So it's being pulled in different directions 52:28 and, different channels, that translate 52:31 into a lot of setup time. 52:34 We often times go out on a Thursday to set up or Friday |
