00:01 As you're well aware,
00:02 we're living in unprecedented times. 00:05 Join us now for Today special program. 00:12 I want to spend my life 00:18 Mending broken people 00:23 I want to spend my life 00:29 Removing pain 00:34 Lord, let my words 00:39 Heal a heart that hurts 00:44 I want to spend my life 00:50 Mending broken people 00:55 I want to spend my life 01:00 Mending broken people 01:15 Hi and welcome to 3ABN Today. 01:18 It's a great privilege for me to be here 01:21 in a place that I am not typically found. 01:24 And you may figure out why I'm not here 01:27 because this is not my expertise. 01:29 I'm usually behind the piano 01:30 because it gives me something to do with my hands. 01:32 But it's an honor for me to interview today 01:36 a dear friend, Jaime Jorge. 01:39 He's a friend to a lot of you 01:40 who have watched 3ABN throughout the years. 01:43 And I'm looking forward to this time. 01:45 We're going to have a great time. 01:46 We're both musicians. 01:48 And I really thought Jaime that was the reason 01:51 that they asked me to do this. 01:54 I hope so. Absolutely. 01:55 But whenever I saw you today, 01:58 I realized you know, we look a lot alike. 02:01 So, maybe I think that's probably. 02:03 Absolutely. 02:04 I mean we're both tall, dark and handsome. 02:06 They can't tell us apart. 02:07 Right? So... 02:09 So actually, it's kind of a risk 02:10 to even put us on the same screen. 02:11 But we're going to work our way through it. 02:13 I think we'll make it. 02:15 I think you're a wonderful musician. 02:17 I know you are wonderful musician. 02:19 And I haven't had too many opportunities 02:24 to perform with you. 02:25 Just a couple of times. 02:26 But up in Canada, we... 02:28 I believe we performed together. 02:30 And Skype. 02:31 Yes, on Skype. 02:33 That's right. 02:34 Remember, my signal was delayed and you delayed about 30. 02:37 Yes. 02:38 It was unbelievable. Right. 02:39 We had a great time on that. 02:41 If you may remember, 02:42 if you watch Your Favorites by Request, 02:44 Jaime was my guest one time on that. 02:47 And so yeah, we did that. 02:48 I like that. 02:50 Thanks for reminding me. 02:51 I've got a great memory, it's just extremely short. 02:53 Well, I have photographic memory, 02:55 but I keep running out of film. 02:58 Well, I can tell we're not only both talented, 03:01 but we have corny jokes. 03:02 Absolutely. 03:04 So... We make the world go round. 03:06 Yes. 03:07 So, well, we're delighted that you're joining us at home 03:10 and we hope that you just enjoy this time 03:12 to get to know Jaime Jorge better and to get to know 03:14 what's going on in his life and in your ministry. 03:17 So again, we're grateful to God. 03:19 Thank you. Thanks for having me here. 03:21 Absolutely, my privilege, Jaime. 03:22 You have a family now. 03:26 You've got some additions to your family. 03:30 Yes. 03:31 Tell me about you and your wife? 03:33 So Rochelle and I celebrated our eighth year 03:37 of honeymoon in July. 03:41 And we have a beautiful 03:43 four and a half year old daughter. 03:47 She came on the 30th of March of 2017. 03:50 She is a furry daughter. 03:52 Okay. 03:54 And so we spend out, 03:56 spend our time sending each other pictures and videos 03:59 of Aria our puppy. 04:01 You are one those? 04:02 Yes. 04:04 So that's been a blessing though, 04:05 you know for us. 04:06 She keeps her Rochelle company while I'm gone. 04:08 So I didn't see the picture. 04:09 What kind of dog is this? 04:11 She's a mix of Boxer, Pitbull and American Bulldog. 04:15 Look at that stance. 04:16 Quite spoiled. 04:17 Now look at that coat. 04:20 Wow, that's impressive. 04:24 She's quite well taken care of. 04:26 I can tell, that is fun. 04:29 You know, we've gone through a great time, 04:34 maybe great is not the word. 04:35 But 2020, of course, everyone knows pandemic 04:40 and I know a lot of musician, musician friends 04:44 who were definitely impacted by that. 04:48 It stopped a lot of travelling 04:50 and so what did that look like to you? 04:54 Well, honestly, 04:55 it was one of the most difficult periods of my life. 05:01 You know what it's like to be on the road, 05:03 you know what it's like to make music 05:05 because it's what you love to do. 05:08 And so it wasn't just that for the first time in 19 years 05:14 I didn't do 200 concerts, 05:16 it's just that everything stopped. 05:20 And there was no end in sight. 05:23 And it's not just that you have a living to make, 05:26 it's what you love to do. 05:27 It's what you're called to doing. 05:29 And so as time goes by, I just felt, 05:32 you know, like, is this ever really going to end? 05:36 And I am afraid to say it, but I say it 05:40 because I want to encourage people. 05:42 I really struggled with my faith. 05:45 I went to God and said, "Are you still around? 05:48 Are you still here?" 05:50 And I would say that 05:51 of all of the things that I went through, 05:55 the greatest blessing I think for me 05:57 was that God taught me the importance of faith. 06:02 The Bible says without faith, it is impossible to please God. 06:07 And we need to be, 06:08 we need to have more faith than obedience, basically. 06:11 Yeah. 06:12 And I was reminded of that, I think I forgot about it. 06:16 And that's why I was so ashamed. 06:17 I think I went to the Lord and I said, 06:19 "You've brought me this far in my life. 06:22 My family came from a communist country. 06:24 You plucked us out of there. 06:25 All the things that have happened throughout my life 06:28 and you're telling me, 06:29 You're with me and for me to doubt that, 06:31 I never want to lose my faith again." 06:34 You know, one of the things that Jesus said to Mary 06:36 and people over and over again throughout the Bible was, 06:39 "Your faith has saved you. 06:41 Your faith has liberated you. 06:43 Your faith is." 06:44 And so, I have come out of this saying, "Lord, 06:49 I never want to take my eyes off of You again. 06:51 I'm going to continue to trust in You 06:53 and have faith no matter what." 06:54 Because my guarantee was my concert schedule. 06:58 Sure. 06:59 When I've got four or five concerts 07:00 lined up every weekend, 07:02 I know I'm going to at least you know, make a living. 07:04 You don't know how it's going to be 07:06 from concert to concert or week to week. 07:07 But when that all was gone, 07:10 that's when I need to trust in God 07:11 more than anything or anybody else. 07:13 Right. 07:14 You know, I think that musicians 07:17 as in anybody who finds their identity 07:20 in what they do and it's easy to do 07:23 since our lives are wrapped up at work, 07:26 and in separation of work and family 07:28 and finding that balance, it's almost impossible. 07:30 That's right. 07:31 But I know when I was on the road, 07:35 when I came off of the road after having been on so long, 07:40 it was an identity crisis, really. 07:44 And so I can only imagine having the carpet 07:48 pulled out from under you when it wasn't something, 07:50 you were forced. 07:51 Right. 07:52 That's off. 07:54 So you know, that kind of a, 07:56 for people who lose their jobs or you go have to, 08:01 go into retirement, 08:03 you know, you hear so many people that struggle. 08:06 So I love that finding your faith again. 08:11 You know, we are complete in Christ. 08:12 That's right. 08:14 And that's what we have to remember. 08:16 So that's an awesome thing. 08:20 And, yeah, I want to be 08:24 constantly faithful to God 08:29 and not my position, my talent. 08:32 My talent, it's all from Him. 08:35 But that's sweet. 08:38 I want to listen to some music before we go on any further. 08:43 And I think this is a good song to start with. 08:47 Absolutely. 08:49 It's on purpose, of course, we chose it that way. 08:51 But it's about putting Jesus Christ above all 08:54 because that's what He did. 08:56 Right. 08:57 He gave everything for you and me. 08:59 And He wants us to do the same, but we are the ones that gain 09:03 when we focus on Jesus Christ above all. 09:06 Yeah, here's Jaime Jorge playing Above All. 14:16 Great, Jaime Jorge playing Above All. 14:20 We were talking about the pandemic. 14:23 Just in that year, do you feel like, 14:28 did you have to spend more time practicing? 14:30 Or did you want to play? 14:32 You know, I... 14:34 Sometimes if I'm not performing, 14:37 there'll be days I don't touch the piano. 14:38 Right. 14:40 And that's dreadful for a musician 14:42 and it's dreadful for the audience 14:43 whenever you play again 14:45 and you haven't touched the piano. 14:46 That's right. 14:48 So what was your kind of schedule to it? 14:49 So it was a little bit of both. 14:52 And let me say that probably 14:54 the second greatest blessing after, 14:57 you know, this reconnecting with the Lord, 15:00 the second greatest blessing for me 15:02 was spending so much time with Rochelle and Aria 15:06 that we spend more time over the last year and a half 15:08 than we did in the previous six and a half years 15:10 of our marriage because you know, 15:12 being on the road 200-300 days a year 15:14 doesn't leave much time. 15:16 But you know at first I was all motivated like, 15:18 what are we going to do? 15:20 How am I going to get ready so that when this is over, 15:23 I come out of the gate with new products, 15:25 with new resources, with new ideas? 15:27 And then as time went by and time went by, 15:30 I felt like I almost just sort of got petrified 15:36 and paralysis hit. 15:37 So I didn't want to play. 15:39 You know, and it's when the Lord 15:42 sort of brought me back from all of that, 15:44 that of course, I started getting excited again 15:46 about making music and I don't think 15:48 I've ever taken for granted a single concert. 15:54 But since I've been able to get back on the road, 15:58 I feel like I'm living every single note. 16:01 You know, not just 16:03 oh, I got five concerts this weekend. 16:05 Well, okay I'll get through them and I'll enjoy them. 16:07 No, it's like, now I want every opportunity. 16:09 Wow! 16:10 Sometimes we have to remember 16:12 what we had when we don't have it anymore. 16:14 Yeah. 16:15 So I started out all excited and then I just dropped it. 16:20 But thankfully, I picked it up again 16:22 before I started playing publicly. 16:24 Right. 16:25 Because one of the greatest violinists 16:27 of all time, Fritz Kreisler said, 16:28 "If I don't practice one day, I noticed it. 16:31 If I don't practice two days, my friends and family know it. 16:34 And if I don't practice three days, 16:35 the whole world knows it." 16:37 Right. 16:38 So you can't hide when you're, 16:40 when you haven't practiced and you're not prepared. 16:42 Very simple. 16:43 Yeah, that's dangerous. 16:45 So how many hours a week do you practice? 16:47 Between three and five, depending on or per day, 16:52 depending on the situation. 16:54 When travelling, I'm doing all of that stuff. 16:56 Just because you know, 16:58 you learn you play as well as you do, 17:00 you have to do scales, you have to do exercises. 17:03 You're an athlete of the piano. 17:05 Right. 17:06 I'm an athlete of the violin. 17:07 And just because you run the 100 yard dash 17:09 in 9.85 seconds 17:12 now doesn't mean you will next month 17:14 if you just sit down and lay around the couch. 17:16 So it's something you have to continue to do 17:19 and that's something my teacher taught me early on. 17:22 He said, "If you practice six hours a day, 17:23 you practice three hours scales and three hours repertoire. 17:27 If you practice five hours a day, 17:29 three hour scales, two hours repertoire. 17:31 Four hours a day, three hour scales 17:33 and one hour repertoire. 17:34 And if you just practice three hours a day, 17:36 practice scales for three hours a day." 17:38 Really. 17:39 So it's that warming up and that training and... 17:42 That's amazing. 17:44 That conditioning. So... 17:46 So tell, for those of you, for those who don't know, 17:50 how, what's your background 17:52 is musically in terms of learning? 17:55 What was that? 17:57 Well, I started at the age of five 17:59 with a violin teacher, my mom. 18:00 Before I knew how to read and write, 18:02 I knew how to read music. 18:04 My mom being a musician 18:06 and a teacher taught me all of those things. 18:08 As I went you know, through school, 18:12 I had not only, you know, violin lessons, 18:14 I had music lessons theory, 18:16 you know, all of that stuff. 18:18 And then I did not major in music in college, 18:22 I wanted to be a doctor. 18:23 But I still took orchestra. 18:25 I still had lessons every week, I still had performances. 18:29 So I was very much, 18:30 almost kind of a parallel track of going music here. 18:34 And then pre-med, you know, there and I even kept it up 18:37 through medical school. 18:38 And then when the Lord finally said, 18:40 "This is not what I called you to do." 18:43 Then I really threw myself into it, 18:45 you know, full steam. 18:46 Wow! 18:47 Because you know, like, probably you 18:49 when I do something, it's all or nothing. 18:52 So, but when you do music ministry too, 18:57 you can't just couple times a week, 19:00 once a week here and there, 19:01 you have to, it's got to be full on. 19:03 Yeah. 19:05 So, but the technique is in those scales and the... 19:07 That's right. 19:09 Arpeggios. 19:11 Yeah. 19:12 I am not trained, so I play by ear. 19:14 Yeah. 19:15 And it's, to me, 19:19 if I can't do I mean, 19:21 I'm going to take that home with me 19:23 because I probably need to implement 19:25 that little plan of three hours 19:27 because I go straight to the repertoire 19:29 and because if I can't perform that whenever I get on stage. 19:32 I'm certainly not going to sit there 19:34 and do scales and address anybody. 19:36 Sure. 19:37 So I go straight for the songs. 19:39 And I tried to maybe incorporate 19:41 some of those skills in those but the technique see, 19:44 that's why they had me interview you 19:46 so I could learn how to do them, do it right. 19:49 Oh, I think you know plenty. 19:50 No. 19:52 But you know a sprinter doesn't run the 100 yard dash 19:54 or the meter dash, right off the bat. 19:57 He's got to warm up his muscles. 19:59 Yeah. And that's what we do. 20:01 You take just a few minutes. 20:02 Yeah. 20:04 Because you, you're a great pianist, 20:06 of course, you know that. 20:08 So all you need to do 20:09 is just warm up your muscles, that's all. 20:11 You know, I need to do that as well. 20:12 All right. Then the brain follows. 20:14 All right, well, we're, you know what, 20:16 we're going to cut this program short, 20:17 so I can go practice. 20:19 So, no, honestly, what a great lesson 20:23 I've just learned, folks, 20:24 and you were here to witness it. 20:26 So thanks and I know you expect to hear the difference. 20:30 So you have a... 20:33 Regarding the, you've talked about 20:35 now appreciating the opportunities 20:37 that you have now, 20:39 have you been able to see your schedule 20:41 a difference in it? 20:43 Yes. 20:44 Thankfully, I am back to doing 20:46 you know, three, four, five concerts a weekend. 20:49 And I'm definitely loving it. 20:51 And one of the things that I started doing 20:53 during the pandemic 20:55 was to teach online violin lessons. 20:57 Awesome. 20:58 So I've had about 50 students 20:59 all together over the course of that time 21:01 and I'm enjoying it. 21:02 Now it's presenting a challenge, 21:04 because I'm hitting the road doing concerts. 21:07 And I don't want to just drop my students 21:09 because some of these kids are absolutely precious. 21:12 And it's also given me a love for wanting 21:15 to motivate and challenge young people 21:19 to develop their talents for the glory of God. 21:21 Right. 21:22 And so I don't want to just say, 21:24 "Hey I'm busy now, I can't teach." 21:26 So I'm keeping them. 21:28 And so sometimes, I have to be 21:32 where I'm going to be that weekend 21:33 from the beginning of the week 21:35 because once I start teaching lessons, 21:36 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, there's no chance for me 21:38 to fly out Wednesday or Thursday, like I used to 21:41 for concerts you know, the rest of the weekend. 21:43 So I'm going to be spending a little bit more time 21:45 on the road. 21:46 But it's worth it because I feel like 21:48 I am making an investment in the future 21:51 of these young people. 21:52 Yeah. 21:54 They may never be concert violinists. 21:56 But the discipline 21:57 and the joy and the love of playing an instrument 22:01 is going to benefit them and their families, you know? 22:03 Yeah, indeed. 22:05 Teaching, for me, ooh, that's a different animal. 22:10 And it's very draining, 22:11 let me tell you especially on Zoom 22:14 because you can't just be slacking off. 22:15 You've got to be paying attention, 22:18 so that you can share with them what needs to be, 22:20 you know, tweaked or worked on or improved. 22:23 So how many students do you have? 22:25 Fifty. 22:26 Fifty? 22:27 My word? 22:29 Yeah, I'm going to have to, 22:30 I'd have to take 22:32 some patience lessons. 22:37 Or maybe that would be patience lessons to do that. 22:40 Because I've just, yeah, 22:42 especially on Zoom, goodness me. 22:44 Do you plan on possibly doing any in person? 22:47 Do you have that option? 22:48 Well, I have a few that 22:50 live in the Chattanooga area or even Atlanta. 22:52 Sure. 22:54 And they will drive once a month or come, 22:55 you know, every so often 22:57 because, of course, that's much better. 22:59 How do you tell somebody, 23:01 you know, do this and this, it's very hard. 23:04 When it's, you know, by video camera, 23:07 in person, you can say raise your elbow a little bit, 23:10 straighten out your wrist. 23:11 But it's that much more challenging. 23:13 Wow! 23:15 Well, talk to me about the ministry opportunities, 23:20 the opened doors you've seen 23:22 maybe over the past two, three years? 23:24 So I'm excited to share something with you 23:28 that goes back to my roots. 23:31 As you know, I was born in Cuba. 23:34 And I left when I was 10 years old. 23:37 I had been given a scholarship offer 23:40 when I was 10, 23:41 by the Government of Cuba, to go to Moscow 23:43 and study at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory Music. 23:46 Wow! 23:47 And, of course, I've told that story many times here 23:50 and in many other places because everybody, 23:53 especially when they're getting to know me for the first time 23:55 they want to know, you know, about that stuff. 23:57 But what's tied to all of that 23:58 is that the gentleman that offered me 24:02 that scholarship on behalf of the government 24:05 who wanted me to renounce my faith in Christ, 24:09 to be able to receive the scholarship. 24:11 When I told him that I was not willing to do that. 24:13 He said, "You'll never be anything. 24:15 You're giving up God, a God that doesn't exist 24:19 for real tangible opportunities here." 24:22 Anyway, two years ago 24:25 and I've been involved in outreach to Cuba 24:28 for a number of years. 24:29 First, with an organization that took Bibles 24:33 and printed Bible lessons 24:35 and sponsored the pastor salaries 24:37 and things like that. 24:39 But then when I started my own non-profit organization 24:43 about eight years ago, Healing Music, 24:47 I decided I wanted to continue 24:49 to support some of those projects 24:50 that they weren't supporting anymore. 24:52 But, of course, I dreamed of doing something with music. 24:56 And two years ago, 24:58 when I went to Cuba on one of those trips, 25:00 I was invited to have dinner 25:02 with two of Cuba's greatest musicians, 25:05 classical musicians. 25:07 And these are a couple of pictures that we have. 25:10 He is an operatic tenor by the name of Ulises Aquino. 25:15 A baritone, I'm sorry, not a tenor. 25:18 And then probably Cuba's greatest classical pianist, 25:21 Frank Fernandez. 25:22 I didn't know about Mr. Aquino. 25:24 But I had heard of Mr. Fernandez, 25:26 very well-known guy around the world, 25:28 in classical circles. 25:30 And they invited me to have dinner with them. 25:34 And we talked for several hours. 25:37 And at the end of the evening, they said, 25:39 "The reason why we invited you 25:41 is because someone told us about you. 25:44 And we've been checking you out. 25:47 We have a concert in two months 25:50 at the most important performance venue in Cuba, 25:52 The Great Theatre of Havana." 25:54 The equivalent of Carnegie Hall, 25:56 Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, all of those things in one. 26:00 It's a building 26:02 that's actually right next to the capital of Cuba. 26:04 When you look at the pictures, 26:06 all lit up at night, gorgeous place. 26:09 And they said, "We're going to be performing 26:11 with the National Symphony Orchestra and choir. 26:14 And we want to invite you 26:16 to perform as our guest 26:18 with the National Symphony Orchestra." 26:21 So the first weekend in April, 26:22 that is a picture of that night, 26:24 the audience there. 26:25 First weekend, in April 2019, I went 26:27 and nearly 39 years to the day 26:30 when that man had told me 26:31 I would never be a good violinist. 26:33 And for the first time 26:34 in the history of communist Cuba, 26:36 a Christian was on that stage, 26:38 praising the name of Jesus Christ Wow! 26:40 Praise the Lord. 26:41 And as a result of that, the doors have opened up 26:44 and the government has given us permission 26:47 to open a music school. 26:50 And so we have a school that is operating now 26:55 with 25 kids and we're getting ready to expand. 26:58 Rochelle who is into sports, 27:01 she was a football player and is still very active. 27:05 She takes duffel bags full of sports equipment there 27:08 because churches have these awesome sports programs 27:12 that reach tens of thousands of young people in Cuba 27:15 on the streets. 27:16 And that's how many of them 27:18 are coming to know Jesus Christ. 27:19 And so she'll fill duffel bags 27:21 and take them there for that purpose. 27:23 But in July, not long ago 27:26 I was able to go to Cuba and purchase a building, 27:29 this very building 27:31 that we're about to see here on the camera, 27:33 that we are going to turn into our music school. 27:38 We've gotten permission to use this place. 27:42 It used to be a hostel. 27:44 We have to remodel it and all that 27:45 because everything is falling apart over there. 27:47 Sure. 27:49 But we are going to use that building 27:51 as our music school and missionary outreach. 27:55 We'll be able to have missionary, 27:57 medical missionary trips 27:58 where the doctors and nurses can do exams 28:01 and counseling and all kinds of things. 28:04 And that's going to be the place 28:05 that we'll be able to operate out of. 28:07 Now in addition to that, 28:08 we have a similar program not quite 28:11 as big as this in Nicaragua and a school in Chattanooga, 28:16 where we give violins and violin lessons to poor, 28:18 underprivileged in inner city kids 28:20 with the aim of giving them opportunities 28:23 and sharing the gospel with them. 28:25 So I'm very excited about 28:27 how the Lord is opening up all those doors. 28:30 In fact, when we went to look 28:33 at the opportunity of getting this building, 28:36 of course, we didn't have the money. 28:37 But I sent out an email and within two weeks, 28:40 we had raised all the money 28:42 that we needed for this building. 28:44 So I believe 28:45 that when we call upon the name of the Lord, 28:48 He is going to respond and answer 28:51 maybe not in the way we want. 28:53 But it's in some cases beyond what we could have ever, 28:56 you know, imagined. 28:58 And all of that, of course is fed by the concerts 29:01 and me sharing and letting people know about it. 29:03 And one of the things 29:05 that we are sort of diversifying 29:07 or branching off into 29:08 is that I started to do these tours 29:11 to places like the Holy Land. 29:13 And I use music as a way to enhance the experience. 29:16 So at the Via Dolorosa, I play the Via Dolorosa, 29:20 at the Garden Tomb, 29:21 the Hallelujah chorus and the Sea of Galilee, 29:24 Master the Tempest is Raging in all of these places. 29:27 In fact, we got back not long ago 29:29 from doing a tour of Greece, 29:31 following the footsteps of the Apostle Paul. 29:33 And then we went to Patmos outside the cave 29:37 where John wrote the Book of Revelation. 29:40 And I did a concert for our group there. 29:42 So we're doing some of these things 29:44 as a way to try to expand and grow the ministry. 29:47 And in a situation like we found last year, 29:50 not just have your eggs in one basket, 29:52 but have different things that we can do 29:54 and we can offer. 29:55 So this time, 29:58 this pandemic time was challenging, 30:00 but I think it also, when I came out of it, 30:03 I just feel like somebody's injected me 30:06 with pure energy and excitement for the Lord. 30:09 That's awesome. 30:10 And I can't wait to keep going. 30:11 Well, you don't have time to practice then in that case. 30:13 Exactly. 30:15 No wonder. 30:16 Wow. 30:17 So it's amazing, you know, with gifts 30:21 there is responsibility. 30:23 And I love the purpose that you have put into, 30:27 you know, it's not just Jaime and his fiddle. 30:32 It's you are indeed living life intentionally 30:36 and ministering on purpose. 30:39 And so thank you. 30:40 Well, I have found and you know this, 30:42 that money is nice 30:45 and being well known is nice 30:48 and all of these things, 30:50 but the greatest joy that you and I get 30:53 is when people's lives are touched at a concert. 30:57 That is what keeps us going. 30:59 Exactly. 31:00 To continue to do what we're doing 31:02 and that's what it's really about. 31:03 I keep saying the investment that we make on earth 31:07 is making us a treasure in heaven 31:09 that nobody can take away from, 31:10 because all of this stuff could be taken away like that. 31:12 Right. 31:14 But the treasure that we store in heaven 31:15 will never be taken by anybody. 31:17 Right. 31:18 And you have eternity to practice. 31:19 Exactly. 31:21 So. 31:22 Yes, thank you for reminding me that. 31:24 We can concentrate on the purposeful things 31:25 while we're here. 31:27 Yes. 31:28 You talked about those experiences 31:30 that you've done over the Holy Land and the Greece. 31:34 Do you happen to have... 31:36 Have you put those on like a CD, a project? 31:39 No, I'm working on a DVD 31:41 that will not only have music videos in the Holy Land, 31:45 but also will sort of serve as a guide 31:47 because there are a lot of people that can't go. 31:48 It's gonna serve as an experience. 31:50 Yeah. 31:51 Sort of like a virtual or a behind the scenes look, 31:56 you know, as to what it's like, so we're working on that. 31:59 No, I'm not one to typically buy someone else's, 32:03 other musicians CDs, but I would buy those 32:07 because I probably will never get to go to those places. 32:11 But I've been to a lot of places like Missouri. 32:15 And I could do a CD on Branson, 32:19 on the experiences of Branson. 32:21 Yes. 32:23 No, those are really awesome opportunities 32:24 that you've had. 32:26 I love the fact that you are... Now you've got a foundation? 32:29 Right. 32:30 Talk to me about, is this Healing Music? 32:32 So that's Healing Music. 32:33 That's the one that supports all of these projects. 32:36 Right. 32:38 And in my concerts as I share, 32:40 people are impressed to support and that's how we, 32:44 you know, we were growing and funding these projects. 32:47 Nice. 32:48 I want to share maybe a classical piece with you. 32:51 Okay. 32:53 And it's called Meditation. 32:54 I think that's perfect. 32:55 It was written by a French composer 32:57 by the name of Jules Massenet 32:59 and it's from a larger opera 33:02 that's why it's called Meditation from Thais. 33:05 But I want to share it 33:06 because we all need to take time 33:10 to spend in meditation and in communing with God. 33:14 Life comes at us so hard and so fast these days, 33:18 that if we don't take that time we are going out there, 33:22 you know, without our armor, 33:25 and sometimes we just have to sigh and stop 33:31 and sometimes we have to turn off the phones 33:33 and the answering machines and the remote controls 33:36 and everything else and just meditate. 33:39 And that's what I hope will happen 33:40 when we hear this song. 33:42 Sweet. 33:43 Well, let's listen to Meditation 33:45 from Thais, Jaime Jorge. 38:48 Jaime Jorge, thank you very, very much. 38:50 What a wonderful time of meditation. 38:52 Just sitting here letting the Lord minister to me 38:57 for sure and thinking about His goodness. 39:02 Music is such a powerful, 39:04 I know it's been said over and over, 39:07 but it's such a wonderful gift that God gave us. 39:11 Yes, it is. 39:13 I thank you for sharing your talent with us. 39:16 Thank you for what you have done for not only God's work 39:21 but for music and people like me 39:23 who have watched you with my jaw 39:26 on the floor saying, "Man, if I played the piano. 39:30 I'd like to play like that." 39:33 But you know, we never know 39:34 who we are impacting 39:36 and encouraging and influencing, 39:39 or on the other side, giving a bad example. 39:41 Sure. 39:42 So it's just a reminder 39:44 of how other people are watching 39:46 and we don't even know it. 39:48 It's a great opportunity. 39:49 One more aspect of that responsibility 39:51 of having a gift... 39:53 That's right. 39:54 To represent Christ in a Christ like way. 39:57 That's right. 39:58 You have some things coming up for you that are exciting. 40:03 I believe you said next year, 2022, 40:06 will be how many years for you? 40:08 Thirty five. 40:09 Thirty five years of music ministry. 40:11 That's, so you said you started really like. 40:14 Yeah. 40:16 Okay, well, I was gonna even go younger than that. 40:18 I was gonna say like maybe three. 40:20 Oh, man. 40:22 But no, wonderful. 40:23 So talk to me about 40:24 what's going on next year for you? 40:26 So, next year, at least musically speaking, 40:30 we're going to release, at the beginning of the year, 40:33 a brand new album that I've been working on. 40:35 And most of the albums I have recorded 40:38 through the years have been of the old hymns and, 40:41 you know, some of those songs that are. 40:42 Favorites. 40:44 Yeah, but I wanted to do something along the lines 40:46 of a classic praise and worship. 40:48 So in other words 40:50 the really, really beautiful songs 40:53 like How great is our God, Shout to the Lord, 40:56 You are my hiding place, so forth. 40:58 But on top of that, I have, 41:01 like I did for the 25th anniversary 41:04 concert in celebration that we did. 41:06 I wanted to invite and have some of my friends 41:08 come and be a part of it. 41:10 And so people like Take Six and Legacy Five, 41:15 who I think you've heard of before. 41:16 Most certainly. 41:18 And Oleta Adams, 41:19 which we were talking about before, 41:20 and some others are going to be joining me 41:22 as part of duets in that album so I'm very, very excited. 41:26 That's exciting. Yes. 41:27 First of all that a musician has friends 41:30 because, you know, usually we're, 41:32 you know, just nobody recognizes us 41:35 unless we're in the wrong key. 41:37 That's right. 41:38 But know that you have these people 41:39 that will be performing these songs. 41:41 That's really, really great. 41:43 I can't wait to hear that. 41:45 So do you, how did you pick some of those songs? 41:48 I mean there's a lot of. 41:50 Songs that have ministered to me 41:53 that have really spoken to me. 41:55 That's the criteria 41:57 that I have always used for choosing music. 42:00 If it does something for me, 42:01 it might do something for somebody else, you know? 42:04 And then you kind of whittle down 42:05 and go from there, 42:07 but I've never played something that didn't reach me, 42:10 didn't touch me, didn't move me. 42:12 That's smart. 42:13 So well while we're on the topic, 42:15 I think I want to hear before we run out of time. 42:16 Yeah. 42:18 I'd like to hear one of the songs 42:19 that's going to be on this project. 42:21 Awesome. What do you have for us? 42:22 So it's called Agnus Dei. 42:23 It was written by Michael W. Smith. 42:25 Agnus Dei in Latin means Lamb of God. 42:28 And this is actually featuring the voices 42:31 of the Oakwood University, Aeolians. 42:33 Wonderful. 42:34 So I hope, I hope you'll enjoy it. 42:37 Enjoy Jaime Jorge playing Agnus Dei. 49:10 Powerful, powerful, powerful, Agnus Dei. 49:13 Jaime Jorge, thank you for your ministry. 49:16 Truly, thank you. That was inspiring. 49:18 And I look forward to 2022 49:20 when you will be celebrating your 35th year 49:24 with that album right there, 49:26 album of, how many songs are on that? 49:27 Twelve. Twelve. 49:29 Here I Am to Worship. 49:30 It's called and I think it's an appropriate name. 49:32 Absolutely. Wonderful. 49:33 It has been a delight to talk to you. 49:37 I've learned so much. 49:38 It's wonderful to, 49:41 in fact, I would have paid for this experience, 49:43 to be honest, 49:45 because it's just great to get to know other musicians 49:48 and know their struggles. 49:49 And I think we ought to do this more often. 49:54 But I would, in fact, probably take lessons from you. 49:58 I don't play the violin, 49:59 but I could, I know I could learn 50:02 your purpose and the responsibility 50:04 that you, the intention, 50:09 you're doing things just like I want to. 50:12 So I admire you and I'm grateful. 50:16 Praise the Lord. 50:17 And I want to encourage you 50:19 because you've been an encouragement to me 50:20 and it's an honor to be here with you. 50:23 And it's a privilege to call you my friend. 50:25 Sure. 50:26 And so, I think all of us 50:28 can be encouraged by one another 50:32 and that's one of the themes of my concerts right now 50:34 is to encourage people and to challenge them. 50:37 So there's stuff we can all do 50:41 and there's much that we can still learn, you know. 50:44 So you'll be filling out the rest of the year 50:48 with dates in the States? 50:50 Yes. Yes. 50:51 And then moving on into a full schedule of 2022? 50:53 By the grace of God. Yeah, amen. 50:55 By the grace of God. 50:56 And so I can find out your schedule on? 50:59 Our website. 51:00 On your website which... 51:01 JaimeJorge.com 51:03 and all that contact detail will appear. 51:05 But the name of our foundation is Healing Music. 51:08 Okay. 51:10 That's where we channel all of this work 51:13 that we're talking about here in Cuba and Nicaragua. 51:17 And, in fact, 51:18 this is your contact information right now. 51:20 That's what the contact page will look like. 51:22 If you were to go to JaimeJorge.com 51:24 you will see all the information on this page, 51:28 and it will tell you where to go to hear him 51:32 and where to write to. 51:33 You get, still get mail in the... 51:35 Yes, we get Pony Express, 51:38 you know, real mail and we get email. 51:42 And our concert schedule is on our website, 51:45 so people can see where we're at. 51:46 And product information where you can buy. 51:48 Okay, well, we'll be right back after this news break. 51:53 If you would like to contact Jaime Jorge 51:56 or know more about his ministry, 51:58 Healing Music Incorporated, 52:00 you can call him 52:01 at 423-238-7944. 52:06 That's 423-238-7944. 52:11 You can also visit his website, JaimeJorge.com 52:16 That's JaimeJorge.com 52:19 or send him an email at info@jaimejorge.com |
