We look forward to 01:25 spending this one hour with you each and every day. 01:27 You know, it's a blessing to be alive, isn't it? 01:29 You know, and I want to be a light in whatever community 01:32 I'm located, and that is Thompsonville, Illinois. 01:35 I don't know where you're at in the world 01:37 but God wants you to be a light... 01:40 to be a light in your community. 01:42 Jill and I fly somewhat and what's really neat: 01:45 when there's storm clouds around and it's raining 01:47 wherever the airport is and we're taking off 01:50 you get above the clouds the sun is shining. 01:51 You know, the sun always shines. 01:55 And I'm thinking today about our program, about being 01:57 a light... a light in a community. 01:59 And I'm excited because God is doing phenomenal things 02:02 with this ministry. And I'll let you introduce 02:03 the ministry and the folks we have here with us today. 02:05 We have Strong Tower Radio with us. 02:07 We LOVE Strong Tower Radio. Amen! 02:11 We've been partners together for so many years 02:13 and we just... If you've never heard of Strong Tower, 02:15 this is your opportunity to see how the gospel is 02:18 going throughout I would say Michigan but it's much farther 02:22 than the state of Michigan. So we're going to hear about 02:24 that. We have, of course, David and Bethany Bolduc. 02:26 David is the president and founder of Strong Tower Radio. 02:30 And Bethany, you are board secretary? Is that right? 02:32 And we're just so glad to have you all here. 02:35 When did you first, connect with 3ABN. 02:38 Well, we started coming to Camp Meeting right after 02:42 we got married in 1995, so we've been coming here 02:44 regularly from '95 basically on 02:48 and we've just been really connected with you guys. 02:50 You know, this is going back a few years, and I know we have 02:52 a lot to talk about today. 02:53 But David, we traveled together. Yeah! 02:57 I arrived at 3ABN in the Fall of 1999. 03:00 And then the truck... the mobile truck... it was on the road 03:03 going to Camp Meetings it seems like every single month. 03:05 Every weekend we were somewhere. 03:07 And you joined the team as a volunteer in the summer of 2000. 03:10 2001... 2002... yeah. 03:13 Fun time together. Oh, it was great! It was wonderful. 03:16 And it's neat to see how the Lord has led in your life 03:18 and then to start Strong Tower Radio and there's actually TV 03:22 involved now. Yes! And just before we started recording here 03:26 this program you were talking about even going and installing 03:28 satellite dishes. Oh yeah! Bethany, you were driving a van? 03:31 Is that right? Full of dishes? Yes. 03:33 We came down for Camp Meeting and we picked up 10 satellite 03:36 dishes. That's right. Loaded them in the van. 03:38 And then did what with them? 03:40 I took them back to Decatur, Illinois, and went around 03:42 to the different church members. We had a plan that they could 03:45 pay over time and installed satellite dishes 03:48 on roofs, back yards... wherever we could get a signal. 03:50 Amen! And then tell us about also finding 3ABN. 03:53 It was all fuzzy and you could hardly see it? 03:56 We bought a house. It was an old house; we remodeled it 03:58 and we put an antenna up in the attic in Cerro Gordo 04:02 and we could barely pick up a signal from Champaign. 04:05 Illinois? It was fuzzy. Then we got the 04:07 the Direct TV and all... or Dish Network and all that. 04:11 So yeah... it was a good time. 04:12 That was my first introduction to 3ABN. 04:14 Wow! After he got the signal I was like: "Oh! OK! " 04:19 Amazing. That's incredible. We have one other member 04:23 of the team - that's important - of the team here. 04:25 This is Jilane Fenner, and we love and appreciate you 04:28 as well. You're a board member & you work in public relations - 04:30 yes - for Strong Tower as a volunteer. 04:33 So glad to have you here. Thank you. I love 3ABN! 04:36 You know, Jilane, I think about Camp Meeting. 04:39 You know, 3ABN Camp Meeting. You're a front-row person 04:41 at Camp Meeting. I don't want to be distracted from the message. 04:45 Been so for many years. So if you're like: "I think I've seen 04:47 that lady before. " Well probably here on 3ABN on 04:49 at Camp Meeting. And Jill, she's so funny. 04:52 of the Camp Meeting. And Jill, she's so funny. 04:54 She's like: "I wonder what flower Jilane's going to have 04:56 in her hair today. " Because even at Camp Meeting 04:58 I would say just about every day - right? 05:00 you wear a flower? I almost every day wear a flower. 05:02 Um-hmm. So turn your head. Can you turn it sideways 05:04 just a little bit so we can get that? Luis, can you get that? 05:06 Yeah, look at that! Isn't that nice? So colorful! 05:09 I love it... very nice. Thank you. 05:11 It's your signature statement. That's right! 05:14 Before we get into more of the story of Strong Tower 05:17 in case you haven't heard of Strong Tower we're going to 05:19 share even the background but also what God is doing 05:21 because actually some very very exciting things what God is 05:24 doing with Strong Tower Radio/ can I say television too, David? 05:27 Yeah. OK... all right. 05:29 We're going to go to some music by Mary Grace. 05:31 And I think the song is so fitting for today's topic. 05:34 It is... it's perfect: People Need the Lord. 09:08 Amen! Thank you so much, Mary Grace. 09:10 She is such an inspiration. She is! And thank you so much 09:13 for sharing that beautiful song People Need the Lord. Um-hmm. 09:17 Oftentimes it's easy to sit in our chairs 09:19 or in our cars and say: "Well that's great for other people 09:21 to share the Lord. " You know you're here for a reason and a 09:23 purpose - yes - and that's to share the love of Jesus 09:26 with other people. And today we're talking with Strong Tower 09:30 Radio/Television and so excited about 09:34 of course what the Lord is doing through you all's ministry. 09:37 But I think about the partner- ship that 3ABN has had with 09:39 Strong Tower through all of the years 09:42 and man... it's just been fantastic. 09:44 So let's go back David, Bethany, 09:47 Jilane, to the beginning of Strong Tower. 09:49 'Cause I know when you started we talked about volunteering 09:51 at 3ABN. Right. You do have some engineering or radio background 09:54 in media. As a child I was fascinated by that little box 09:57 that you could hear the people talking out of. 09:59 I just couldn't figure out how that worked. 10:01 And so just as I got older I was more interested in electronics 10:05 and just how the whole apparatus works. 10:08 And this was fascinating because it's wireless 10:11 and yet there's a signal coming through to it. 10:14 And this is really... Every time my mom went to 10:17 a rummage sale I would get a 25-cent radio. 10:20 Take it apart; destroy it but just was trying to figure 10:22 it out. Wow! But as times progressed 10:25 I just got more interested. 10:27 Heard about 3ABN back in 1986. 10:30 Sometimes I felt impressed to send some money back in the 80's 10:33 and they were using this for a mechanism to communicate 10:38 the gospel... the three angels' messages. Amen! 10:40 And so the Lord worked it out. Bethany put up with my wires 10:43 and antennas and transmitters. She got her HAM license 10:45 so we could talk, and it was just... The Lord was just 10:49 putting things in order so we could learn how to 10:53 make this thing work. And I worked at a community college. 10:56 They put me in the audiovisual department. 10:58 I had satellite downlinks, installed projectors, 11:01 sound systems. Ninety classrooms had video projectors. 11:04 I was responsible for all that. 11:06 Eleven distance learning classrooms. It's not about me. 11:08 It's what God used me to learn 11:11 that got me ready to move on to Strong Tower Radio. 11:14 So then you came and helped 3ABN out for a couple of years. 11:17 And then what happened? Well, I went back to the college. 11:20 I was working there, and then the opportunity came 11:22 in 2007 for the filing window. 11:25 I came down, talked to Jay Christian. 11:27 Said: "It's not working out. " He said: "Keep trying. " 11:29 So I tried it one more time and I found something. 11:32 It was Jay's inspiration that kept me going 11:35 and we got that first station in Cadillac. 11:38 Wow! So this was a FCC filing window for a radio station? OK. 11:42 Yeah, in 2007. And our son... We told the previous 11:44 program how the Lord used his situation 11:49 with the surgery and everything to inspire us to move forward 11:52 in faith, and that's what it was. 11:54 Even though we didn't have the funds we still thought... 11:56 we saw how the Lord was leading. It was like this was 11:59 where He was directing us. And so as long as you stay 12:02 in the center of His will He will provide the means 12:05 to make it a reality. Um-hmm. 12:07 So I want to ask this question then because you could say: 12:09 "OK... 3ABN... doing a great work. 12:12 I don't really need to do anything, you know, to start 12:14 another station. It's a lot of work: start 12:15 a radio station. " Purpose? Why did you feel 12:18 the urgency or even the need? Jesus said: "GO! " OK. 12:23 He said: "Be fruitful and multiply" to Adam and Eve 12:25 and He was telling us the same thing spiritually: 12:27 "Be fruitful and multiply and reach the ends of the world. " 12:30 And radio reaches such a different market than TV. 12:33 They both have their place and there's a need for both. 12:37 One of our stories that we'll touch on later has both in it. 12:41 Wow! So what was it like for you then, Bethany? 12:43 So are you on board with this too? 12:45 Is Dave gettin' all excited like: "Hey Bethany! " 12:47 Oh yeah... oh yeah. And you know, God has given me 12:50 a gift of just being able to support. 12:53 And just the call comes: "I'm not going to be able to be home 12:58 on time tonight because this is happening with the equipment 13:01 and I need to take care of whatever. " And I'm like: 13:03 "OK... we roll with it. " We just keep doing. 13:06 And so I think that's a gift that God has allowed me to have. 13:10 Go ahead. You were going to say something? 13:13 Well just thinking about radio. 13:15 You can't take TV in the car... you know? 13:18 And David... It was Cadillac, Michigan. That first station. 13:22 And that's all we thought. Just little old Cadillac, Michigan, 13:25 you know, and northern Michigan. 13:28 So kind of way up north. 13:30 Yes. But God has "blown us out of the water" 13:34 as far as I'm concerned. Yeah... of what He's done. 13:37 You know what's amazing to me is you think back 13:39 to God's preparation with you, David. 13:41 You know, the training that you had there in that school 13:45 with what you were doing, with the audiovisual 13:47 and all that, the training for radio, 13:49 and then you start with one station 13:50 and you don't even know how it's going to grow from there. 13:53 So what happened from that one station? 13:55 Well the Lord was impressing us just is there a way to make 13:59 this station a little bit bigger? 14:00 And so we ended up talking to an engineer about... 14:03 And he... long story short - 14:05 and it's a VERY long story - but you know 14:08 we talked to an engineer and he said: "Oh, by the way, 14:10 there's a station up for sale in the Upper Peninsula. 14:12 Would you guys be interested in it? " 14:14 And we thought: "Who would? That's a long way away. 14:18 How would we do that? " 14:20 But the Lord just seemed to be leading. 14:22 And through that engineer we made other connections 14:24 and so we were able to actually, expand the coverage 14:28 of the station in Cadillac to about over 3 times the size 14:32 that we started with but in the process 14:35 we have built 4 or 5 more stations or purchased stations. 14:38 So it's just that growing that the Lord keeps putting on us. 14:42 Well I've gotta tell you a little story about that. 14:43 Because I was driving in Cadillac 14:46 and we're goin' up in the UP. 14:47 And I'm talkin' to God. I always talk to Him when I'm drivin'. 14:50 And I'm like: "Well why are You sending us up to the UP? 14:52 All the people in Michigan are down in Detroit, Flint. " 14:57 Immediately I was convicted... 14:59 Because I just... I don't know. I remember 15:03 I just remember being convicted. "I'm sorry, Lord. 15:06 The people in the UP... they need to know the truth too. 15:10 They need to know the three angels' messages. " 15:12 I said: "I'm sorry. " 15:13 And I said that out loud. Prior I was just talking in my head. 15:16 And you know, what I heard, not audibly but in my head, 15:21 was: "Let Me see what you do with what I'm giving you. " 15:25 Wow! And then we follow... we're doing God's will. 15:29 And then He's really blessed beyond our imaginations. 15:33 Praise the Lord! So tell us about the staff. 15:35 Go ahead, Bethany, you were going to say something. 15:37 We have a picture... Well yeah, we need to show 15:38 the picture of the staff. OK, so tell us... 15:41 They're volunteers. They're not all staff members. 15:43 I wish they were all staff but there's volunteers and staff. 15:45 And you notice one of those is Elder Gallimore on the left. 15:48 I see that. Oh yes! He's one of our contributors. 15:51 He comes up. He was up just a week or so ago. 15:53 And we really value all of our volunteers and staff. 15:57 We have six full-time staff members. 15:59 One of them is not in there: Ken Ferguson, 16:01 but you'll see him in one of the other pictures 16:02 with one of the stories that we have. 16:05 And one of the ladies in the picture unfortunately 16:07 has passed away... probably from COVID. 16:11 So we also... our ministry has been hit. 16:14 Different ones have been sick in turns. 16:16 And people might notice that there was a dog. 16:18 I was holding a dog. Oh, I noticed that... yes. 16:19 And that was Keegan. Keegan unfortunately has 16:23 passed away too. I miss him dearly 16:25 because he was my dog. He became our mascot at the station. 16:29 And so we're going to replace him 16:31 and hopefully, find another good little mascot. 16:34 We love our pets there. 16:36 That's really important. 16:37 So the station grew from Cadillac. Then you went to UP 16:40 then you expanded. Of course, we just saw the staff 16:43 picture now, but what is the current coverage? 16:46 How far do you go now? 16:47 We have three stations in the Upper Peninsula. 16:49 We can show a map here, and the stations in the 16:53 red shows our coverage where we're in the far western side 16:58 of the UP - yep - and essentially on the eastern side 17:02 we have solid coverage. And then you look as we go downstate 17:05 up by Camp Au Sable we have a station 17:08 which reaches almost to the Mackinac Bridge. 17:10 And then we have the Cadillac station. 17:12 Then there's the Grand Rapids station. 17:14 The station down by Gladwin. 17:18 We've added Grand Rapids and then we just added last year 17:23 two more stations in the Kalamazoo area 17:25 which if you're in Battle Creek and go into the historic village 17:29 there you can listen to our station there. 17:30 Wow! So the Lord has blessed us with all those stations. 17:33 Those are currently the stations on the air 17:35 plus there's one in Decatur, Illinois. 17:36 I saw a little red circle down in Illinois! 17:40 Fourteen stations we have currently on the air. 17:43 What is the potential reach? Do you know what those 17:45 numbers are? 'Cause I know it's always hard to kind of... 17:46 It's hard to calculate but it's probably at least 17:49 three million... around there. 17:51 Hmm... that is incredible. 17:53 So that's amazing because you showed a picture 17:55 of the staff. I mean, that's phenomenal. 17:57 It's not that large of a staff but they cover... To me 18:00 it's almost the entire state of Michigan. 18:01 Got a little bit in Illinois. A little bit into Wisconsin? 18:04 A little bit of Wisconsin, yeah. How do you do it? 18:07 We have an amazing building that God provided. 18:10 The Lord provides. He provided the building 18:11 and He's providing... We started out in 18:14 Jilane. It was a building that your family-owned. 18:17 Yes, my husband was a contractor 18:19 and had sort of retired. And the building was sixteen... 18:21 Well we didn't start with 1,600 square feet though. 18:23 The whole building was. We started with 18:25 maybe a 14x10 room to start. And then we added a second room 18:30 and half of another room. 18:31 It's really neat. We've got a little video clip we can show. 18:34 You can tell you're in Michigan because of all the white stuff 18:37 on the ground. SNOW! Yeah! OK. 18:39 This was taken a year or so ago 18:41 but you can see as the drone flies around 18:44 you can see the picture of the... Oh wow! Yep. 18:47 Look at that. Oh yes! 18:49 So that's the building? That's our building. 18:51 20,000 square foot building. 18:52 Look at what God did! 18:54 He provided the funds on the last day for that. 18:57 We had half the funds, and just right there at the end 19:00 the funds came in. Boy, that's beautiful and cold! 19:04 It's cold up there. 19:06 Jill and I actually have been there a few years ago 19:09 and we came up that drive. It's sitting up on a hill there. 19:12 Fantastic. It's beautiful. 19:15 It has a basement as well. Yep. 19:18 It's a God thing. And we're building another radio studio 19:21 in the basement soon. Really? ASI has given us the funds 19:25 and so we're in the process of building a studio 19:26 in the basement so we can have another studio. 19:28 We'd like to have kind of our own little sound center there. 19:31 So that's kind of the direction we're going with that. 19:34 Amen! So how does God provide for your needs? 19:37 Through our listeners and our supporters. 19:40 And God just has some very dedicated people out there 19:43 that long to see this message move forward. 19:45 And so He provides for all of our needs. 19:46 Like 3ABN has set the model 19:49 we don't have any paid programming. 19:50 The commercials are all just faith. 19:53 We have community calendars. 19:56 We have PSA's, but we don't do any of the heavy on-air 20:00 fund raising like other stations might do. 20:03 Yeah. And then what about during COVID? Because I mean 20:06 during COVID there's lean times & there can be difficult times. 20:10 Walk us through the journey of how God provided for 20:14 Strong Tower during that time. 20:16 Growth is... can often be uncomfortable 20:19 and God tends to allow us to be tested as we're getting ready 20:25 to grow. Um-hmm. And we went through last summer 20:28 and pretty much most of the summer we were behind 20:32 payroll. And at one point we got... 20:35 The staff is paid every other week and we were 20:39 behind eleven weeks. Oh wow! That's five pay periods. 20:43 You mean people weren't paid for a long time. We were making 20:45 all of our bills. The Lord is providing for all of the bills 20:48 but the funding to make the payrolls weren't coming through. 20:52 And so we just moved forward in faith. 20:54 So for people to understand: we're faith-based, 20:59 missionary wages, and the people... 21:01 I mean like he said we have a staff of six that are paid. 21:04 They know when they come to work for us 21:07 they're the last ones that will get paid because 21:09 we have to pay the tower rent or we're not on the air. 21:12 We have to pay the electricity to keep on the air. 21:15 And God was testing. Like Bethany said, though, 21:19 every time we grow there was something. 21:21 David would get sick. I mean we've always had something 21:24 when a new station was coming on the air 21:26 and that's the devil not wanting us to do it. 21:29 And so it was... I mean how many of you out there 21:33 could go without eleven weeks of a paycheck? 21:37 Umm... yeah... um-hmm. 21:38 But God provided - Amen - for our staff. 21:42 And we've seen that time and time again 21:44 where the funding is not coming in 21:46 but the Lord sends us a rebate check. 21:48 Or like with the COVID funding we got some because we have 21:52 three boys. And so the Lord was providing for our needs. 21:55 But we weren't... we weren't going out and getting loans. 21:58 It's just like: "Lord, we know there's a purpose 22:01 for this. " And we knew there's a filing window coming up. 22:03 This last window in 2021... 22:06 and we made 10 applications there. 22:09 And the devil was really trying to discourage us 22:12 from moving forward in faith. But we just know that 22:15 whenever he's lurking that way that God has an answer. 22:18 We had a listener/supporter 22:21 that... we were $60,000 behind paying payroll. 22:24 That's a lot of money. Oh yes! 22:26 And so they contacted us, said: "I will do match up to $30,000 22:31 and you have five days. " So we put that on the air 22:35 and God provided. 22:37 Wow! We actually had $35,000 come back matching the $30,000. 22:41 Oh amen! So God made up that back payroll. 22:44 In that short amount of time. We had five days. 22:46 By the end of the year... By December we were caught up. 22:50 Oh... look at God! 22:52 God is awesome! 'Cause to get caught up can be hard. 22:55 Oh, very hard. Right? 'Cause you have to keep maintaining 22:57 and get caught up. Praise the Lord! 22:59 You just touched on something briefly, David, just a couple 23:01 of minutes ago. You said: "OK, so we're getting behind. " 23:04 Yeah. And then you just briefly just kind of said: 23:07 "And we made 10 applications" and just kept on going - yeah - 23:09 with the conversation. That's HUGE because you're behind. 23:12 Yeah, yeah. You're behind and you know what? 23:15 This window's opening up; let's make 10 applications. 23:18 I've got a graphic on that as well. 23:20 So if you look at this graphic there's green circles this time. 23:23 There's red ones are before. The red are what's on the air. 23:26 OK. This is what we're applying for. 23:28 Oh wow! And of those 10 applications 23:30 notice there's one not too far north of here. 23:32 I notice that yeah. I see that! And so of those 10, we know 23:36 that it looks like we're going to get 8 of those. 23:38 Not all ten, but we're going to get eight of those. 23:40 Five of them we already have the construction permits for 23:44 but it looks like we're going to get 3 more of those. 23:47 And so the Lord is providing more again for our needs. 23:51 Let me just touch on this because there's a lot of people 23:54 that are watching. You know 3ABN is a faith-based ministry. 23:56 Strong Tower is. I mean we rely 100% 23:59 on you our faithful supporters and so does Strong Tower. 24:02 So when you're in a situation like you're just describing: 24:06 you're getting behind - right? for payroll 24:08 and an opportunity shows itself to apply 24:12 is that scary? Yes. How'd you do that? 24:16 Because there's somebody at home today right now thinking: 24:18 "You know what? I think I need to do this but I need to wait 24:20 for everything to be perfect THEN I'll step out. " 24:22 How'd you do it? But you know, whenever Daniel 24:24 was there and you've gotta make a choice. In the Bible. 24:26 Are you going to worship the image? His three friends: 24:29 Are you gonna worship the image? Are you going to stop praying? 24:31 You have to make a choice that says 24:33 I'm going to follow God's will. 24:35 Yeah. Even if this is the end I'm still going to follow. 24:38 And it's not the end so much for us. 24:41 But you know, financial... The Lord... 24:43 I really believe that the Lord tests us financial 24:46 because there's going to be a spiritual test coming 24:49 that's harder than the financial. 24:51 And if we can't get through the financial right now 24:52 if the bottom line is money you're out of focus. Yep. 24:57 The bottom line has to be: will God provide? 24:59 Are we in the center of God's will? 25:01 If we're in the center of God's will, He's going to provide. 25:03 You see that with the children of Israel. 25:04 You know, nobody panicked on Friday evening 25:06 because there wasn't going to be manna the next day. 25:08 God was going to provide for that. He did! 25:10 So He's going to provide for all of our needs 25:12 like He has always done in the past. 25:13 Mrs. White's quote: "We have nothing to fear for the future 25:16 except we forget. " And we're trying not to forget. 25:20 And we're doing... You know, we make mistakes 25:22 but He's faithful and He's going to provide. 25:25 And if you look at the last picture that we have... 25:28 This is the map with the red and the green here? Yes. 25:30 Right. So the red are the ones that are on the air. 25:33 The green are the ones... The applications. 25:35 OK. So that's where the Lord is leading. 25:37 And you notice there are still areas of Michigan that are not 25:40 covered, and the Lord is still working on those areas, too. 25:42 There's also a station that we're in the process 25:45 of purchasing over by Grand Haven. So it's in the center 25:47 of Michigan on the west side of the coast. 25:50 Wow! That one's in the works right now. 25:53 You know I just want to mention: David said about where we put 25:57 our focus, and that's the problem. People always think 26:00 about money. Um-hmm. And I've had people like from 26:03 Detroit 'cause they would like us down there 26:04 and I say: "Just call up a sta- tion. You know start calling. 26:08 Find out if they're for sale. " And somebody says: 26:09 "Well $8 million. " Don't bat an eye. 26:11 Just say: "OK... who do I talk to? " 26:13 "Yeah, but we don't have that kind of money! " 26:15 That's: "No... but God does! " 26:16 Yeah, God's not concerned about it. 26:18 Yes. That's right. He's concerned about the people. 26:21 And there's a lot of people out there listening 26:23 like Jilane said. You don't watch the TV... 26:25 TV's wonderful... there's nothing wrong with that, 26:28 but whenever you're in the workshop you're doing something; 26:30 whenever you're out mowing the yard; whenever you're driving 26:33 down the road you're listening to the radio. 26:35 And so there are so many stories we have of people 26:37 just listening on the radio and how it's touched their lives 26:42 and has changed their lives. 26:44 Amen! It's incredible. Your journey of faith... 26:47 that's inspiring. Oh, it is! 26:49 We're going to get to those stories now, but before we do: 26:51 Bethany, I just want to ask you as David's wife 26:53 what was it like during that time. We heard from him 26:56 and his focus on God, but what was it like for you? 26:59 I mean those eleven weeks we're not gettin' paid. 27:01 Did your faith falter or did you? How did you feel? 27:05 This isn't the first time we've seen this happen, 27:08 and the first couple of times were not eleven weeks long. 27:12 So the Lord lets you gradually get into 27:17 where He wants you to be and builds you. 27:20 He doesn't... He grows your faith. Yeah, He grows you. 27:22 He doesn't expect you to be somewhere without growing you 27:26 to that point first. 27:28 So we... I'm not saying it wasn't tough, 27:32 but just when you are worried about a bill or you think 27:35 something... you know, "How are we going to do whatever" 27:39 something will come and you get an unexpected 27:43 blessing from somewhere. 27:46 And we had several of those from various sources in various ways 27:52 from, you know, money that the govt. sent to a lot of people 27:56 to someone helping to fund our kids' education. 28:00 And just different things. And we're very very thankful 28:05 for my mom and my family be- cause we live in a family home. 28:09 My mom is 86 years young and we help her 28:14 stay in her home and she gives us a home to live in. 28:16 And it's... It's a win/win! It is. 28:19 It is. The kids have grandma all the time. 28:21 It makes an impact too. We weren't stressing about 28:26 "Oh, if we can't make a payment we'll lose our home. " 28:28 We were secure in knowing we had a place to live. 28:31 And so the Lord gets you through. 28:35 But it's only through prayer... lots of prayer. 28:38 You know, and Hebrews talks about faith, too. Right? Yes. 28:40 Stepping out you don't always see but you just keep going. 28:43 And I think it's really key to the purpose. I think about 28:45 Mr. Danny and 3ABN. He's always said: "Greg... " 28:48 he said, "so long at 3ABN is staying with the commission" 28:51 the original commission, right? spread the gospel, 28:53 Yeah! "Don't change from that 28:55 and God will continue to bless. " Same for Strong Tower. 28:58 He's given you a commission, right? Yes. To go forward, 29:01 spread the gospel, stick to that. 29:03 One more question. I want to go back to that graphic 29:05 that showed the green and the red little circles there. 29:08 If you can put that back up. 29:09 David, I'm looking at that 'cause before I said it looks 29:11 like all of Michigan is covered. Well, it wasn't quite. 29:13 The green now is almost covering all of it - yeah - 29:16 and there's a little bit more expansion it looks like up into 29:18 Wisconsin there. When do you then, David, do you sit back 29:21 and say: "Whew! Michigan's done. OK, now we're done... 29:23 we've accomplished it. " Well... I feel... 29:25 We don't know what's in store, right? Not really, but we... 29:29 I'm looking around your facilities here 29:32 and we've got a TV studio 30 by 40 feet. 29:34 Let's talk about that briefly. 29:35 We can do TV as well. We're got eight channels 29:39 on our local TV station... we're only using seven 29:41 so we could do more. 29:43 And I believe the Lord is going to provide more. 29:46 He's got... You know, the Lord has a million ways 29:49 of doing things but it takes people. It does! 29:51 And we need more. We've got a lot of staff, 29:54 we've got a lot of volunteers but we need people that have 29:56 the technology knowledge to take us to the level. 30:00 And so one of the things that we're praying for... 30:01 personally, I'm praying for... is an engineer to come on board 30:05 at Strong Tower Radio. Amen! But like you saw in the video 30:08 we are in the North and so it's a commitment. 30:10 Our average temperature is not 65 degrees there. 30:14 Like Illinois? Yeah. 30:16 But the Lord is going to provide in the proper time. 30:19 OK. So I know we're going to put up some contact information 30:22 'cause you just heard a need right now. It may be you! 30:24 You may be an engineer. I don't know the background 30:26 that they necessarily need, but we will put contact info. 30:29 up. Give us a little bit... Maybe describe what you need. 30:31 Someone with an engineer back- ground? A broadcast engineer. 30:34 Somebody that's been in broad- cast engineering for a while. 30:36 OK. They can do radio; they can do TV; 30:38 they can do Internet. Those things. 30:40 So as the Holy Spirit puts it on their heart... 30:43 You know, like Danny said many times 30:45 "If that's all they can think about 30:46 then yeah, come on board. " 30:48 We don't want somebody that doesn't want to be there. 30:50 We want somebody that wants to take it to the next notch. 30:53 Amen! And I can't wait to hear what they're going to do with 30:56 the radio station but their focus has to be 30:59 the three angels' messages. That's right. 31:00 Because if that's not the focus then we've lost focus 31:03 and the Lord is saying: "Well, you're beyond where I can 31:06 bless you. " Yeah. We've gotta stay in the center of His will, 31:09 especially now. Amen! Um-hmm. 31:11 So today's program of course is basically telling you 31:13 what Strong Tower is all about in case you haven't heard 31:16 about Strong Tower but also giving you incredible updates 31:18 too. And some of those I love hearing are the stories 31:22 that you're getting back, right? 'Cause these are always 31:24 happening. We get them here at 3ABN, but I know 31:26 Strong Tower... You have some stories I know 31:28 about how God is blessing. Who wants to start? 31:30 We do! I will start. 31:31 And I have a story about a gentleman named Tim. 31:34 And Tim came to the Lord as a young man in the Navy. 31:38 OK. And unfortunately, he didn't stick with that first love. 31:42 He kind of fell away and it was on again off again. 31:46 He'd come back to the Lord; he'd fall away again 31:48 for about 40 years give or take. 31:51 And then he was living up in the UP 31:54 near Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, 31:56 and he found the 3ABN downlink station there 32:01 in the UP of Michigan. Wow! OK! 32:03 And he started watching it and he tested what he was hearing. 32:07 He went to the Word of God and he was testing 32:10 is it truth. Good! And he found that it was. 32:12 Um-hmm. He liked what he was hearing. 32:14 And then he went looking for a radio station 32:17 that would also support truth that he was hearing - OK - 32:21 so that when he wasn't at home, when he was driving around 32:23 etc. he could continue to listen to the truth of the Lord. 32:27 And that was our second station that we bought. Yes. 32:30 Really? Oh wow! OK. 32:33 So... What year was that? The second one? 32:36 Do you know about approximately when that was? 32:38 About 2011 or so. 2011... OK. 32:40 Um-hmm. And that's a miracle in itself how we got that station. 32:43 Yeah. It was not just a one-and-done. 32:46 I mean, God really tested us: "Are you serious? " 32:49 "Do you want this? " Yeah. 32:51 It was... it was very interesting. Very challenging 32:54 but we got through it; God blessed. Amen! 32:56 And Tim enjoys a lot of presenters that you carry 33:01 that we carry. We carry a lot of the same people, 33:04 a lot of the same programming, and he enjoys listening to 33:07 a lot of big names that we all know and love ourselves. 33:11 Like a Doug Batchelor and? Exactly... yeah, yeah. 33:15 And the Voice of Prophecy pro- grams; he enjoys those as well. 33:18 Authentic. He really likes Authentic. 33:21 It's a great program; it's fairly new. 33:23 It's a good program. So then he decided to visit 33:27 the Sault Ste. Marie SDA church. 33:29 Umm. And that was just before all the COVID closures 33:32 that we all had to deal with - um-hmm - there for a while. 33:35 And so when COVID closed things down he was able to join 33:40 virtually, so he continued to attend church virtually 33:43 for a while. And then he did Bible studies 33:47 with the pastor. They got a new pastor in that area 33:51 so after that transitionary time he was able to do Bible studies 33:55 with the pastor and the elder. 33:57 And in September of 2021- so just this last September - 34:01 he was baptized. And we do have two pictures. 34:04 We have... That's great! Praise the Lord! 34:06 The first picture shows Tim with our development director 34:11 who is Ken Ferguson? So Ken Ferguson is in the suit coat 34:13 and Tim is in the more outdoor jacket. 34:16 I love that! Amen! Great shot! 34:19 And then the next picture is a picture of Tim's baptism. 34:22 Beautiful! In a lake. I love that! 34:25 That's Pastor David Austin. He's one of our 34:27 supporters as well for Strong Tower Radio. 34:29 Amen. He's the pastor up there at the church? Yes. 34:31 OK. Amen. So what does that do to you? 34:34 I know we're going to another story, but what does that do 34:37 when you hear these stories? When you hear people who are 34:39 finding Jesus and discovering truth? 34:41 You know, Bethany has a perfect answer to that 34:43 because when our son was going through all this trial before 34:45 his surgery she was really praying to the Lord 34:47 and she put the Lord to the test. 34:49 I basically you know during my Bible study time 34:52 and my prayer time you get really close to the Lord 34:56 when you're going through an intense trial. Yes. 34:57 Yes. And it was almost like one day I was like 35:01 in God's face spiritually speaking. Right? Yes. Right. 35:05 "OK, I know that the devil's the one that's doing this. " 35:09 That's doing the bad things that we see. You know, we... 35:12 we see in the news tornadoes or wars. 35:15 It's not God... they're not acts of God. 35:18 They're acts of the devil. 35:20 We go through those trials and those tribulations 35:23 because God allows it to show to the universe 35:27 what his character is like - um-hmm - 35:29 and show to the universe the contrast between Satan and God. 35:33 Yes. And so basically that day 35:37 was like: "OK, God... this WILL NOT be in vain. " 35:41 Amen! "My son is not a play toy for the devil. 35:44 I WILL NOT stand for that. " 35:46 Get your mama bear goin' you know? 35:49 And OK, so we walk this walk. We're on this path; 35:54 this isn't just going to go away 35:56 but it's NOT going to be in vain. 35:58 There WILL be people in the kingdom 'cause I demanded it. 36:03 "God... this is NOT OK. " 36:08 So yeah, it just... it makes me want to cry 36:11 and jump and scream and just be so excited & cheer for the Lord 36:14 because it's God answering my prayer. Amen. 36:17 Prayers are heard. People are coming to God. 36:21 I mean you guys get how many calls and letters 36:24 and e-mails. This is why we do what we do! Absolutely! 36:28 Amen! And that's why people give, right? 36:31 That's what we talked about earlier. You know we appreciate 36:33 again the support for Strong Tower. We know many of you 36:35 are doing that and new ones today, too, will be joining 36:38 and saying: "Hey, I'm all behind Strong Tower 36:41 and what they're doing there. " And it's just neat 36:43 because God is using you as well. 36:45 You hear about their faith journey but you're also part 36:47 of that as well. Yes. Another story? 36:48 I know we've got... OK. Yes. Ryan Peterson was a young 36:52 man - early 20's - and he came into his mother's house. 36:57 She had the radio on; he knew it was a Christian station. 36:59 He didn't know what it was 37:01 but all of a sudden he's hearing a preacher named Lyle Albrecht 37:05 talking about the end of time. Great evangelist! 37:08 Yes. Talking about prophecy and what's going on in this world? 37:13 He sat down to finish listening. 37:15 He's in his early 20's and he just absolutely loved 37:19 what he was hearing. Found out it was Strong Tower Radio 37:22 and started listening from 2015 to about 2020. 37:27 Wow! He's a 3rd generation farmer. 37:29 OK. And my husband happens to be a farmer so I understand. 37:32 He spends 12 to 18 hours in a tractor maybe. 37:36 Yep. And lots of tractors nowadays have radios. They do! 37:39 That's the only station he's listening to. 37:41 He used to listen to talk radio but that's all he listens to. 37:45 And he hooked up with a pastor in that area. 37:48 Happened to be Cedar Lake, MI, in the center of the state 37:51 and started doin' Bible studies 37:53 and in December of 2020 he was baptized. 37:57 And he had a girlfriend, and she also got baptized with him. 38:03 Oh wow! They waited one more year. 38:05 We have a picture of Ryan and his wife. 38:07 They waited one more year. 38:09 On their anniversary of being baptized - 38:11 oh how precious! they got married. 38:13 So that is a very special date for them: both getting 38:16 baptized and a year later being married. 38:18 Amen! Oh wow! Yeah. 38:20 That's incredible! What a testimony. Yes. 38:23 What an inspiration! Yes! 38:25 You know like we never know 38:28 when God's gonna reach somebody and how old they are. 38:31 So maybe I missed this: what station was he catching then 38:33 in his tractor? Do you know which one? 38:35 It was WBHO... which is our station #3. 38:37 Number three - laughter - which was started when? 38:39 Oh, probably about 2014 or so. OK. Yeah. 38:42 And then he started listening in 2015? Yeah. His mother 38:45 had it on and he just... you know. 38:47 He was activated. The devil has attacked that station more than 38:50 any of our other stations because that station has 38:53 more people listening that are coming into the church 38:55 literally. Powerful! Another story? 38:58 The story that I'm going to tell next is also linked to that 39:01 same station. And like David said, we've had a lot of people 39:04 that have come into the different churches that cover... 39:06 in that coverage region. 39:08 We don't have a picture of Rich, but 39:11 Rich was a Bible-believing Christian 39:13 for about 35 years in several different denominations. 39:17 And he was introduced to the Adventist church 39:21 and to Strong Tower Radio because he was working for 39:24 a home renovation company. 39:26 And his supervisor had Strong Tower Radio on 39:30 in the work van. So as they were driving to different jobs 39:34 and doing whatever you know in the work van 39:36 he would hear Strong Tower Radio. 39:38 And after a while, he started listening to it on his own. 39:41 OK. On his own time 39:43 that's the radio station he would go to. 39:45 And he gave us a quote: "Good programming 39:50 is such a relief. " Oh... So he saw that as just really 39:54 a relief. So he listened for about 2 years 39:57 to the radio station before he came to a church. 40:00 And that was the Midland SDA church in Midland, Michigan. 40:04 And then during COVID he was at church. 40:08 He attended church for maybe about 2 years and then COVID 40:10 and everything was in full swing, and different shutdowns 40:14 and whatever. And so the church brought him in 40:16 to membership on profession of faith at that time 40:19 because he had previously been baptized. But with COVID 40:22 he didn't want to... they didn't want to do a baptism 40:24 right at that time. And he does plan to be re-baptized 40:27 at some point and he wants to do it 40:29 when he can invite family and friends 40:30 to be able to witness that event - Amen! 40:34 and to come and join him. And he does have 40:36 children that listen to Strong Tower Radio. 40:38 They enjoy some of the children's programming. 40:40 Your Story Hour and some of the other stories and stuff. 40:44 Amen! It's so encouraging. 40:47 You know, it gives purpose. 40:49 Every day when you come into work: 40:51 this is why we do what we do! Yes. 40:52 This is why you exist. You know, people can find truth 40:55 and discover Jesus. That is so exciting! 40:58 You know, to me all 3 of these stories had a similar theme 41:01 and that was it took time. Yes. 41:03 None of them listened for a week and they were ready to 41:05 be baptized. That's right. There's the seeds that are being 41:08 planted and the Holy Spirit waters. Yes! 41:11 And then it grows. So don't be discouraged at home. 41:15 Maybe you're planting seeds in your community. 41:19 Maybe you're helping to support the work of Strong Tower Radio 41:23 or 3ABN or another ministry. 41:25 But don't be discouraged if you don't see immediate fruit 41:28 because the Holy Spirit is at work 41:30 and at the right time they make those decisions. 41:33 So that's powerful. And you know the beautiful thing about that 41:36 analogy is - which is really emphasized in Michigan - 41:39 you've got the whole gardening process 41:41 but the harvest isn't the last thing. There's the preservation 41:44 afterwards. After everything's planted and gathered in 41:47 you don't just leave it. You do something with that. 41:50 And so then you begin the process again. 41:53 So there's more to it than just the harvest. 41:55 The baptism is great... it's wonderful... 41:57 but then the nurturing that they can start growing. 42:01 And so whenever people come into the church 42:03 welcome them like long-lost family members, 42:05 loved ones. And just bring them in, 42:08 put them under your arm, and just point them to the Lord. 42:11 Amen! You know one thing we've heard from many pastors 42:14 these people come in, listening: "I'm ready to be baptized! " 42:20 "Well we've gotta do Bible studies. " 42:22 So when the pastor hears that it's not that long - 42:25 right - even though they've been listening. Right. 42:28 He said: "They're stronger maybe members than members 42:31 who've been in my church for 20 years. " 42:33 Wow! "Because they've been listening, they're grounded 42:36 in the truth. " Um-hmm! 42:38 Yeah... praise the Lord. You know, that's because 42:40 3ABN, Strong Tower, we believe in preaching the Bible. 42:43 Right? It's not 3ABN's religion or 42:44 Strong Tower radio/television religion. 42:47 It comes from the Bible - yeah - the Word of God. 42:49 Go ahead Jilane. Another thing I wanted to mention 42:51 is we play some music about five, six hours... 42:56 maybe a little more on the weekend. 42:58 And I've heard from people they absolutely love our music. 43:01 It's not this Christian rock and pop 43:04 and they love the music. 43:06 And that's been all ages: young people all the way up. 43:10 Because it's truth-filled. Good. It's hymns; 43:14 it's traditional Christian music. 43:18 Amen! And we love to air... I especially enjoy 43:20 airing Give Him Glory, the Pillars Hymns, 43:23 all those 3ABN productions. 43:25 Keep them coming... we enjoy them. 43:27 I know when you all come to Camp Meeting you're always 43:29 "Do you have any new music? New projects? " 43:31 And of course we're always happy to share them. 43:34 They're a sermon in song. It's beautiful. It is! That's right. 43:36 And music reaches the heart in a way the spoken word can't. 43:38 So... And we remember it. 43:40 If it has a catchy tune it sticks in your brain 43:43 and you find yourself thinking about it or repeating it 43:46 over and over in your brain. 43:48 People will call us... I happen to have a... it's called 43:51 Strong Tower Radio's gospel melodies. 43:53 Geared a little bit to southern gospel you know. Um-hmm. 43:56 Country, toe-tapping. Because when you hear that music 43:59 how can you not be happy? 44:02 Yeah. It make you happy; it puts a smile on you. 44:05 It makes you FEEL good. Right... right. 44:07 And that is a witness; a smile. 44:09 Just a smile to somebody speaks volumes. Absolutely. 44:13 So we're coming down here to the end. I mean these hours 44:15 go by in a hurry. 44:16 Anything in closing that anyone wants to share? 44:19 There's plenty more stories that are in the works. 44:21 There are things that we... These were stories that 44:25 we had permission to share and people's names. 44:28 But there are other things that are still developing. 44:31 There's a family that works in the lumber industry 44:35 in the UP that several members of that family have started 44:39 attending church and are shar- ing. And there's a ripple effect 44:43 going on there. And there's a teenager 44:46 that called a few months ago and asked about a church 44:50 in their area and has started Bible studies with the pastor. 44:54 Oh wow! So... That is incredible! 44:57 There's a gentleman that sent us a text yesterday on the drive 44:58 down that he has been sharing cards. 45:00 We have our sharing cards with all of our stations on there. 45:03 And somebody has been... He's been sharing with this 45:06 individual. And that gentleman came to church this last week 45:09 and they had communion so he washed his feet. 45:11 That's just because of the sharing cards. 45:13 Listening to the radio station. That's the Cadillac station 45:16 which you can hear out on the coast in Ludington. 45:18 Praise God! So that's just one more avenue 45:21 with our literature that we pass out 45:23 or we give to our subscribers. And I've gotta share with you 45:25 I was a snowbird this year, and we have a listener 45:28 that had called the station and wanted to get 45:32 a Strong Tower Radio magnet for her vehicle. 45:35 Oh! And Tom who works there - he does marketing - 45:39 he thought 36 inches... the bigger the better. 45:42 Well in real estate 24 inches... that's what I used to have. 45:46 Anyways, we get these HUGE magnets to put on the car. 45:50 Well, she took it and it's on the back of her van. 45:53 She cut around so the handle would fit... it would fit. 45:56 Huge magnet. Yeah... 36 inches. 45:59 Yeah, that's huge! From a block away. 46:01 She drove to Florida - OK - 'cause she's a snowbird herself. 46:05 She stopped in Tennessee, and there's a pastor who 46:07 had been in Michigan and he's like, you know, 46:10 "Why are you advertising Strong Tower Radio 46:13 down here in Tennessee? " 46:14 It said - HUGE letters - str.fm 46:19 Because you go to our website and we have an app. 46:23 And people downloaded the app. 46:25 And she said to him: "Well anybody can listen. 46:28 You don't have to be in Michigan. " 46:29 He's like: "Oh, yeah. " She went to Florida. 46:31 There are some people I know that were in Florida 46:34 that texted me on a Friday night. We were at the station 46:36 doing vespers. And she said: "Jilane, are you in Florida? " 46:39 She sent me this picture of this van. 46:42 And I said: "No... that's not me. " 46:45 Because they live in Cadillac they know me, they know 46:48 the station. Strong Tower... of course. 46:50 And here they see this giant magnet 46:53 that says Strong Tower. Yeah... wow! 46:55 So let's talk about that before we talk about some of the needs. 46:58 So you can... If people are watching right now 47:00 you're watching, listening, you say: "Wow, I'm not 47:02 in Michigan. There's no way to get Strong Tower. " You can! 47:04 Africa... around the world. str.fm 47:06 The Lord impressed us... str - Strong Tower Radio - 47:09 but str.fm Five letters and a period. OK. 47:13 You're on our website and you can go to the Google app, 47:16 you can go to the android app and you can listen online. 47:19 OK, so right there: str.fm 47:22 And you can listen to the station? The feed. 47:26 We have people listening - fantastic - to us from around 47:28 the world. Wow! It's amazing! All over really. 47:30 In fact, while I was in Florida I happened to go to the 47:33 Celebration, Florida, church. OK. 47:35 And there was a couple that they're snowbirding down there. 47:38 And they were from Coldwater; worked for Remnant. 47:40 Now they're in Jackson? Jacksonville. 47:45 Jackson, Michigan. 47:47 They wanted to know if we had a station there yet. 47:49 They had downloaded so they could hear the station. Wow! 47:52 Even though they were living in Coldwater and Jackson 47:55 they weren't hearing it. 47:57 See, this is amazing because I think of also evangelism. 48:00 Right? That's what Strong Tower is about. 48:01 3ABN is about that too, and you can actually tell someone 48:03 about Strong Tower Radio and say "Hey, here's an app. Great app. 48:07 Download it. You can get this great information 48:09 right there... on your phone even. " 48:11 Tell us about needs that you have. 48:12 You talked about an engineer that Strong Tower needs. 48:15 We need an engineer, yes, To help us... to take us 48:16 to the next level. You know, when Moses came here 48:18 you guys were really doing wonderful. 48:20 He took you guys to... you know, all the other stations 48:23 that you guys are carrying. 48:24 And so we've got other oppor- tunities that are before us. 48:27 We've got... Like you saw on the map 48:30 we have 8 stations we have to build in the next 3 years. 48:33 Do you have the money for that? 48:34 The Lord is providing... He's gonna provide. 48:36 We actually do have the money to build one of the stations 48:39 in Greenville, and so we're just working through that. 48:42 And so the other thing is just more office staff. 48:46 But really the bottom line is 48:50 we just need to keep producing programs 48:52 that align with the Lord and to reach people where they are. 48:55 That's what Jesus did when He was here. 48:57 He went out to people where they were. 48:59 So through the radio, you can reach people where they are. 49:02 Whether it's in the big city or whether they're up in the UP 49:04 driving a filler/buncher. 49:07 You know, it's just reaching the people. 49:10 Amen. You know, I just want to say here 49:12 if the Holy Spirit is impressing you, 49:14 we'll put the contact info. up. Jill's gonna talk about that 49:16 in a minute. But if you're feeling impressed by the 49:19 Holy Spirit to support 'cause this group of people here 49:23 not many are doing a powerful work for the world. Amen! 49:26 You said that people are listen- ing to Strong Tower around 49:29 the world but of course right there in Michigan. 49:30 If the Holy Spirit is impressing you to give, 49:32 to support Strong Tower... You heard they stepped out 49:35 in faith and eight stations you need to build. 49:39 Yes. Well, that's a lot of money. 49:40 But you know what? The Lord's got that taken care of. 49:42 As you've heard their faith... they're stepping out in faith 49:45 and wow! We support Strong Tower 100%. 49:48 I mean, yeah... what you all do. We just are behind you. 49:50 And yeah, we know that you're evangelistically minded as well. 49:55 We've seen it over and over again. 49:57 And again we're thanking you in advance. 49:59 Because as Mr. Danny always says: "We don't say 50:01 'Hey, give this amount of money.
