Hey, you're here. 00:25 Hi, welcome to Your Favorites by Request. 00:27 One of the greatest expressions of our Christian faith 00:30 in my opinion is through vibrant singing 00:32 and meaningful worship, 00:33 songs of testimony, and praise to our God, 00:36 as well as songs reminding us of His love and grace 00:39 and His victory over sin and death. 00:41 As I sing in this program, 00:42 I encourage you to get involved, 00:44 and sing out loud right there where you are 00:46 as we worship the Lord together. 00:48 This week we have request from Maxine in Ohio, 00:51 Marjorie from northwest corner of Kansas, 00:54 Sandra in Tampa, Florida. 00:55 And then from across the pond, Hazel in Croydon, London. 00:59 But first I want to start with a song 01:01 whose melody was written 01:03 by a music teacher in Harstelle, Alabama in 1887. 01:07 Mr. AJ Showalter 01:08 was writing letters of condolence 01:10 to a couple of his students 01:11 whose spouses had recently passed. 01:13 When Deuteronomy 33:27 came to his mind, 01:16 "The eternal God is your refuge, 01:18 and underneath are the everlasting arms." 01:22 Mr. Showalter then wrote a letter 01:23 to his friend and lyricist, Elisha Hoffman, 01:26 a Pennsylvania hymn writer 01:28 who quickly responded with three verses 01:30 and a song was born. 01:31 A song that reminds us 01:33 that with God's arms beneath us and His love surrounding us, 01:36 we can find strength and peace 01:38 in even the most sorrowful situations. 01:48 What a fellowship What a joy divine 01:52 Leaning on the everlasting arms 01:56 What a blessedness What a peace is mine 02:01 Leaning on the everlasting arms 02:05 Leaning, leaning 02:10 Safe and secure from all alarms 02:14 Leaning, leaning 02:18 Leaning on the everlasting arms 02:23 Oh, how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way 02:28 Leaning on the everlasting arms 02:32 Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day 02:36 Leaning on the everlasting arms 02:41 Leaning, leaning 02:45 Safe and secure from all alarms 02:49 Leaning, leaning 02:53 I'm leaning on the everlasting arms 03:03 What have I to dread, what have I to fear 03:07 Leaning on the everlasting arms? 03:11 I have blessed peace with my Lord so near 03:16 Leaning on the everlasting arms 03:20 So I'm leaning, leaning 03:24 Safe and secure from all alarms 03:28 Leaning and leaning 03:33 Leaning on the everlasting arms 03:37 I'm leaning on the everlasting arms 03:50 In Luke 8:27, 03:51 we read a wonderful story of transformation. 03:54 The Bible says, 03:55 when Jesus stepped out on the land, 03:57 there met Him a certain man from the city 04:00 Who had demons for a long time. 04:02 He wore no clothes nor did he live in a house 04:04 but in the tombs. 04:06 You should read the exchange 04:07 that takes place in the rest of that chapter. 04:10 That the verses that follow at right about verse 35, 04:14 it says, the people went out to see 04:16 what had occurred with this demon possessed man. 04:19 And they came to Jesus and found the man 04:21 from whom the demons had gone out, 04:23 sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed in his right mind. 04:28 Just imagine if you can how that man must have felt 04:31 as we sing this song "Sitting at the Feet of Jesus". 04:42 Sitting at the feet of Jesus 04:50 Oh, what words I hear Him say! 04:57 Happy place, so near, so precious! 05:04 May it find me there each day 05:11 Sitting at the feet of Jesus 05:18 I would look upon the past 05:25 For His love has been so precious 05:33 It has won my heart at last 06:42 Bless me, O my Savior. 06:44 Bless me, O my Savior, bless me 06:51 As I sit low at Thy feet 06:58 Oh, look down in love upon me 07:06 Let me see Thy face so sweet 07:13 Give me, Lord the mind of Jesus 07:20 Keep me holy as He is 07:28 May I prove I've been with Jesus 07:35 Who is all my righteousness 07:52 Here's a beautiful worship song 07:55 that says, "There is no higher calling 07:58 than sitting at the feet of Jesus." 08:01 Down at Your feet, O Lord 08:07 Is the most high place 08:11 In Your presence, Lord 08:16 I seek Your face 08:20 I seek Your face 08:31 Down at Your feet, O Lord 08:36 Is the most high place 08:41 In Your presence, Lord 08:45 We seek Your face 08:49 We seek Your face 08:55 There is no higher calling 09:00 No greater honor than to bow 09:06 And kneel before Your throne 09:12 I am amazed at Your glory 09:16 Embraced by Your mercy 09:21 O Lord, I live to worship You 09:33 Down at Your feet, O Lord 09:39 Is the most high place 09:43 In Your presence, Lord 09:47 We seek Your face 09:52 We seek Your face 09:57 There is no higher calling 10:03 No greater honor than to bow 10:09 And kneel before Your throne 10:14 I'm amazed at Your glory 10:19 Embraced by Your mercy 10:22 O Lord, I live to worship You 10:29 And there is no higher calling 10:35 No greater honor than to bow 10:41 And kneel before Your throne 10:45 I'm amazed at Your glory 10:50 Embraced by Your mercy 10:54 O Lord, I live to worship You 11:06 O Lord 11:10 I live to worship You 11:33 It's no wonder that at the end of that story 11:35 in Luke 8:38, it says, 11:38 "Now the man from whom the demons had departed 11:40 begged Jesus that he might be with Him." 11:43 Here's the hymn request that expresses our desire 11:46 to follow in obedience to Christ 11:47 and, you know, I'll admit that 11:49 there are a lot of songs in the hymnal 11:50 I don't know, even being raised in church. 11:52 But this song was requested 11:55 and I ran to the hymnal to find it 11:57 and found it on page 632 in this hymnal. 12:00 And I love the words so much that I thought, 12:03 I need to learn that and live it. 12:05 So I'm going to turn to 623 really quick and we'll sing, 12:12 "I Will Follow Thee my Savior". 12:21 I will follow Thee, my Savior 12:25 Wheresoe'er my lot may be 12:29 Where Thou goest I will follow 12:32 Yes, my Lord, I'll follow Thee 12:36 I will follow Thee, my Savior 12:40 Thou didst shed Thy blood for me 12:44 And though all men should forsake Thee 12:48 By Thy grace I'll follow Thee 12:53 Though the road be rough and stormy 12:57 Trackless as the foaming sea 13:00 Thou hast trod this way before me 13:04 And I gladly follow Thee 13:08 I will follow Thee, my Savior 13:12 Thou didst shed Thy blood for me 13:16 And though all men should forsake Thee 13:20 By Thy grace I'll follow Thee 13:25 Go ahead and sing the third verse. 13:56 And on the fourth. 13:59 Though I meet with tribulation 14:02 Sorely tempted though I be 14:06 I remember Thou wast tempted 14:10 And rejoice to follow Thee 14:16 Though Thou leadest through afflictions 14:20 Poor, forsaken though I be 14:24 Thou wast destitute, afflicted 14:28 And I only follow Thee. 14:32 I will follow Thee, my Savior 14:36 Thou didst shed Thy blood for me 14:40 And though all men should forsake Thee 14:44 By Thy grace I'll follow Thee |
