00:01 Welcome to Your Favorites By Request with me, Tim Parton.
00:04 You've sent me your favorite songs,
00:06 and I'm ready to play while you sing along.
00:10 And if you don't remember all the words, don't worry.
00:13 They're on the screen.
00:14 And now Your Favorites By Request.
00:17 Your Favorites By Request
00:20 La la la, la la la
00:27 For centuries, people have sung good old gospel songs
00:29 and hymns to help secure the ancient Bible truths
00:32 to our minds and our hearts.
00:34 Learning these songs can be a useful way
00:36 to help us remember where God brought us from
00:38 and what He's brought us through.
00:39 It's likely that you can relate a song
00:41 to a situation you've been in,
00:43 and that's why you have favorite songs,
00:45 and you send them as a request.
00:47 This week, I received requests from Wisconsin to Maryland
00:50 and South to the peach state of Georgia.
00:53 In fact, speaking of Georgia,
00:54 Marilyn from Georgia requested a song of reminiscence
00:58 that is itself full of familiar songs.
01:01 And you'll probably be familiar with many of them
01:03 that maybe you sang at the church where you went.
01:06 Sing along if you know them.
01:12 Oh!
01:14 I'd like to go back to that old country church
01:18 And to hear the songs of praise
01:23 And the people would sing
01:25 It would make the rafters ring
01:28 At that old country church
01:32 They'd sing shall we gather at the river
01:38 The beautiful, the beautiful river
01:43 Gather with the saints at the river
01:47 That flows by the throne of God
01:52 Oh, I'll never forget
01:55 At that old country church
01:57 How the glory of the Lord came down
02:02 And the children would smile
02:04 As they shouted down the aisle
02:07 Of that old country church
02:11 Where they'd sing leaning, leaning
02:17 Safe and secure from all alarms
02:22 Leaning, I'm leaning
02:27 Leaning on the everlasting arms
02:32 How the years have gone by
02:35 And so many have died
02:37 At that old country church
02:42 But we'll meet on that shore
02:45 Where we'll sing forevermore
02:47 As they did at that old country church
02:52 I'm redeemed by love divine
02:57 Glory, glory
03:00 Christ is mine
03:02 All to Him
03:04 I now resign I have been
03:08 I have been redeemed
03:12 I'm redeemed by love divine
03:17 Glory, glory
03:20 Christ is mine
03:22 All to Him
03:24 I now resign
03:28 I have been redeemed
03:38 Those are some great songs,
03:39 and the song that remind me actually of camp meeting
03:42 when I was a kid.
03:44 I received a request from Daryl in Upper Marlboro, Maryland,
03:47 who sent in this request in memory of his grandmother
03:50 who became a Christian
03:51 in an old-fashioned tent meeting.
03:53 She lived to be one hundred four and a half.
03:56 This was one of her favorite songs.
03:57 You'll know this one, In the Sweet By and By.
04:05 There's a land that is fairer than day
04:10 And by faith, we can see it afar
04:15 For the Father waits over the way
04:20 To prepare us a dwelling place there
04:25 In the sweet by and by
04:30 We shall meet on that beautiful shore
04:35 In the sweet by and by
04:40 We shall meet on that beautiful shore
04:45 We shall sing on that beautiful shore
04:51 The melodious songs of the blest
04:56 And our spirits shall sorrow no more
05:01 Not a sigh for the blessing of rest
05:05 Sing that chorus.
05:26 To our bountiful Father above
05:31 We will offer our tribute of praise
05:37 For the glorious gift of His love
05:42 And the blessings that hallow our days
05:47 In the sweet by and by
05:52 We shall meet on that beautiful shore
05:57 In the sweet by and by
06:03 We shall meet on that beautiful shore
06:08 We shall meet on that beautiful shore
06:34 That's a precious song.
06:36 Now from that song which was written in the 1860s,
06:40 here's a request from the1970s
06:43 by a wonderful songwriter Andrae Crouch,
06:46 Soon and Very Soon.
06:55 Soon and very soon
06:58 We are going to see the King
07:02 Soon and very soon
07:04 We are going to see the King
07:08 Soon and very soon
07:11 We are going to see the King
07:15 Hallelujah, hallelujah
07:18 We're going to see the king
07:21 No more crying.
07:23 Oh, no more crying there
07:26 We are going to see the King
07:29 There'll be no more dying there
07:32 We are going to see the King
07:36 There'll be no more sadness there
07:39 We are going to see the King
07:42 Hallelujah, hallelujah
07:46 We're going to see the King
07:51 Should there be any rivers we must cross
07:57 Should there be any mountains we must climb
08:04 Our God will supply all the strength that we need
08:10 Give us grace 'til we reach the other side
08:17 Soon and very soon
08:19 We are going to see the King
08:23 Soon and very soon
08:26 We are going to see the King
08:29 Soon and very soon
08:32 We are going to see the King
08:35 Hallelujah, hallelujah
08:39 We're going to see the king
08:42 Hallelujah, hallelujah
08:45 We're going to see the king
08:52 Ain't that good news
08:57 Soon and very soon.
