00:01 Hi and welcome back.
00:02 I have several friends, as you know, 00:04 in the music industry, 00:05 and then I have those that are mentors, 00:07 people that have given me instruction, and direction, 00:10 and guidance in my music career, 00:12 but then I have those who are even above that 00:15 and who are both friend, mentor, and just, 00:18 if I could use the word guru in my life 00:22 and that's in an awesome way 00:23 because this man that I'm going to talk to today 00:26 has been a great spiritual leader 00:28 and musical leader, 00:29 and I totally and highly respect him. 00:32 His name is Mike Speck and he's on the line. 00:34 Let's go to him right now. 00:36 Mike, are you there? 00:37 I'm here, buddy. How are you? 00:39 Hey, I'm doing great, Mike. 00:40 It's great to see your face. 00:42 Good to see you. 00:43 I love you, bud. I love you, too. 00:45 You, again, played such an important role, 00:49 I would travel with you and Fay, your wife, 00:51 for one year 00:53 and that was a very interesting year for me, 00:56 I was growing up and I just learned so much 01:00 but even after I left your ministry, 01:02 the Mike Speck Ministry, 01:04 I look back 01:06 and I think of all the things that I learned 01:07 and the things that I wish 01:09 that I would have stuck with you to... 01:12 That I have seen you display in your career. 01:15 I want to be like you. 01:17 And so thank you for setting a very high standard, 01:19 you set the bar high. 01:21 But enough about me, tell me about what you do, 01:23 what you've been doing in the past few years in music? 01:27 Well I've been blessed, brother. 01:29 I really had no plan to be involved in music. 01:34 God called me to ministry 01:35 as a teenage boy up in Michigan, 01:38 and felt like I would probably just end up pastoring 01:42 in that great state, 01:43 but the Lord had different plans for my life. 01:46 And as a result of that, we've lived in several cities 01:49 in different states now 01:50 as working in the music ministry, in different churches 01:53 as worship leader or music pastor, 01:56 there's so many different names that are called now. 01:59 Back in the day when I started, 02:01 you were just the music director. 02:02 Right. 02:03 But I'm thankful for those opportunities 02:06 and, of course, how that grew into creating 02:10 and arranging music for choirs all across the country 02:14 and then it went worldwide and the blessing 02:16 of being in so many different denominations and churches, 02:21 and it's just all been the Lord. 02:23 I see His hand in all of that and I give Him glory and praise 02:27 for every step of the way He's led me. 02:30 And I've learned that when God guides, He provides. 02:34 Right. 02:35 And I just continue to keep my eyes on the King 02:39 and stay focused on the prize and be faithful 02:43 and committed to His cause and His call on my life, 02:47 and that's basically been my life in a nutshell. 02:52 Awesome. Well, that's wonderful. 02:54 And it has truly been a blessing to watch you, 02:56 and we are looking forward to 02:59 you being a part of our ministry here at 3ABN, 03:03 we're going to have you do a choral thing 03:06 in the fall I believe, 03:08 we're going to start recording and I'm looking forward to it. 03:10 You have such a wonderful way of combining the old, 03:14 the new songs from the church. 03:16 And so we're going to be implementing 03:18 that coming fall. 03:19 But... 03:20 Yeah, I'm excited, buddy. Great. 03:22 I'm so excited about that. Me too, man. 03:23 Well, before I let you go, I want to hear a song, 03:27 maybe a favorite song of yours. 03:29 You know, when I think about songs 03:31 that have meant something to me, 03:34 and I'll try not to get too emotional, 03:37 but I think of the old song, "Jesus Paid it All." 03:40 Yeah. 03:41 "All to Him I owe." 03:43 Sweet. 03:44 "Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow." 03:48 I'd like to sing that one if that'd be okay. 03:55 I hear the Savior say 04:00 "Thy strength indeed is small 04:04 Child of weakness, watch and pray 04:09 Find in Me thine all in all" 04:15 Jesus paid it all 04:21 All to him I owe 04:25 Sin had left a crimson stain 04:31 He washed it white as snow 04:39 For nothing good have I 04:43 Where-by Thy grace to claim 04:48 I'll wash my garments white 04:53 In the blood of Calv'ry's Lamb 04:59 And when, before the throne 05:03 I stand in Him complete 05:08 I'll lay my trophies down 05:12 All down at Jesus' feet 05:18 Jesus paid it all 05:23 All to Him I owe 05:28 Sin had left a crimson stain 05:35 He washed it white as snow 05:46 Amen. 05:47 Wonderful. 05:49 Mike Speck, thank you very, very much. 05:50 God bless you guys. 05:52 God bless you.
