00:01 Hi and welcome back.
00:02 This part of the program 00:04 is one of my favorite parts of the program, 00:05 but it's probably a little self-indulgent. 00:08 I love to talk to people that are friends of mine 00:11 or mentors or fellow musicians, 00:14 and I hope that it's something 00:15 that maybe you can connect with 00:18 in terms of the way the music has touched 00:21 these people's lives, and they are people 00:24 who are in the industry, music industry. 00:26 And so I have a friend today 00:29 that is more than a musical friend, 00:31 although she is well known for her music, 00:35 but she has become just a sweetheart friend 00:39 that I can talk to 00:40 and that's the kind of person that I love to get to know, 00:43 to share music with, 00:45 and then when we are step away from music, 00:47 we can talk about the rest of life. 00:50 So you know this dear friend, her name is Yvonne Lewis 00:53 and I want to talk to her right now, okay? 00:56 Let's do that. Yvonne, are you there? 00:58 I am. Hey, Tim. Hey, Yvonne. 01:00 You're a sweetheart. I love your smile. 01:03 You could just stand there and smile 01:04 and you wouldn't even have to sing, 01:06 but I love your singing too. 01:07 So it's like, you know, you can smile and sing, so... 01:11 Well, praise the Lord. 01:12 It's so good to be with you today. 01:14 Awesome. 01:15 Well, you have such an amazing history in music 01:19 and yet you're so young, so... 01:22 You know what, Tim? I love you. 01:26 Well, so tell me a little bit 01:28 about where you have gone in music? 01:31 Tell me about your music path? 01:33 Well, the Lord allowed me to have some 01:36 really interesting experiences in music. 01:39 I started in the late 70s 01:42 and I had an opportunity to sing 01:45 with some of the industry's finest artists and producers, 01:50 and I did a lot of jingles like Ruffles potato chips, 01:54 and diet coke, and Burger King, and Pizza Hut, 01:59 just a lot of different things. 02:00 So it's a pretty varied... 02:03 It was a pretty varied life, but, a career I should say, 02:08 but it was not... 02:10 It didn't meet my soul's needs... 02:13 Yeah. 02:14 You know, it was great, financially, 02:16 it was very lucrative, I met some great people, 02:19 but it just wasn't meeting my soul need. 02:23 Sure. 02:24 But I loved what I was doing it, 02:26 and as far as the jingles were concerned, 02:29 especially because, you know, you just go in, 02:32 you work, and you leave and so, 02:34 and then you get residuals on what you did in an hour, 02:37 so, I mean, just kind of like, "Okay, I like that." 02:39 That's great. 02:40 But again, you know, 02:42 I would not trade working for the Lord 02:44 and singing for the Lord 02:46 and doing programming for the Lord, 02:49 I wouldn't trade that with, 02:51 you know, my life from before for anything. 02:54 You couldn't pay me. Sure. Sure. 02:56 Well, I know that there are a lot of people 02:57 that I've talked to that want to know 02:59 how to break into the music business, 03:01 even as far as singing gospel music. 03:04 And so it's just interesting to me, you know, all the... 03:07 Of the people that I talk to in this segment of the program, 03:12 they have been able to make a living with music, 03:14 and I just kind of think it's important 03:16 for people to see that it can be God, 03:19 God gives us these things to... 03:22 And He knows what He is doing. 03:24 For me personally... Yes. 03:25 I know that music is all I know. 03:27 So I have to pay somebody 03:29 to mow the yard and change the oil 03:30 and do all the things that I don't know how to do. 03:34 But He is so good to give us the things 03:36 that He knows we need, 03:37 the tools, the gifting that... 03:39 Yes. 03:40 And so for you, I have seen, 03:42 you know, you use it 03:44 and change the audience's demeanor 03:47 whenever you step on stage and you sing, 03:49 I have seen their faces just brighten 03:53 because of your voice, 03:55 and I know that's the Spirit of God through you 03:57 and I know you give Him all the glory for that. 03:59 Yes. Praise the Lord. 04:01 And so now... Absolutely. 04:02 Now He has opened the door for you 04:04 to be the general manager of Dare to Dream. 04:06 Yes. 04:07 And you get to use that gift 04:09 that maybe something you didn't know you had. 04:13 I don't want to put words in your mouth, but... 04:16 So anyway, I just love the fact that you're a great singer 04:20 and you're just a wonderful person. 04:22 So thank you for that. 04:24 And do you happen to have maybe a favorite song, 04:28 something we could sing together 04:29 'cause I would be honored. 04:31 Oh, I would be honored. 04:33 How about "Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling?" 04:36 That's awesome. I love that song. 04:38 "Softly and Tenderly." 04:39 Sweet. 04:49 Softly and tenderly 04:53 Jesus is calling 04:57 Calling for you 05:01 and for me 05:05 See, on the portals 05:08 He's waiting and watching 05:12 Watching for you 05:15 and for me 05:20 Come home, 05:24 come home 05:28 Ye who are weary 05:32 come home 05:37 Earnestly, tenderly, 05:41 Jesus is calling 05:45 Calling, "O sinner, 05:49 come home!" 05:55 O for the wonderful love 05:59 He has promised 06:02 Promised for you 06:05 and for me 06:09 Though we have sinned 06:12 He has mercy and pardon 06:17 Pardon for you 06:20 and for me 06:25 Come home, 06:28 come home 06:33 Ye who are weary 06:36 come home 06:42 Earnestly, tenderly, 06:46 Jesus is calling 06:51 Calling, "O sinner, 06:56 come home!" 07:07 Yvonne, I love you, you know that. 07:09 I love you, Tim. 07:10 Thank you so very much for singing along with me. 07:13 God bless you.
